[2015/02/19 15:00] Inara Breen: Wiki good. not updating bad :-).
[2015/02/19 15:00] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): OK.
[2015/02/19 15:00] Jenna Felton: /me gigles
[2015/02/19 15:00] Caleb Linden: caleb bad for not reading the exception announcement
[2015/02/19 15:01] Caleb Linden: anyways sbug IS on
[2015/02/19 15:01] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Hello, Whirly.
[2015/02/19 15:01] nolink (whirly.fizzle): Hai!
[2015/02/19 15:01] Caleb Linden: hi whirly!
[2015/02/19 15:01] Jenna Felton: i think Maestro was leading the meeting and working on the page mostly and now he is obducted :)
[2015/02/19 15:01] Jenna Felton: hi Whirly
[2015/02/19 15:01] nolink (whirly.fizzle): Oh I nearly didn't come. Wiki page said today was cancelled
[2015/02/19 15:01] Caleb Linden: oh man
[2015/02/19 15:02] Caleb Linden: my fault
[2015/02/19 15:02] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Hello, Rex.
[2015/02/19 15:02] Jenna Felton: hello Rex
[2015/02/19 15:02] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Rex, you are on time.
[2015/02/19 15:02] Rex Cronon: hi yuzuru
[2015/02/19 15:02] Rex Cronon: hi jenna
[2015/02/19 15:03] Rex Cronon: hi everybody
[2015/02/19 15:03] Rex Cronon: miracles happen yuzuru;)
[2015/02/19 15:03] Rex Cronon: lol
[2015/02/19 15:04] rcdsQueChatLog: State changed.{click me to get the url}
[2015/02/19 15:06] Jonathan Yap: Are we waiting for Simon to arrive on his skateboard?
[2015/02/19 15:06] Caleb Linden: so yeah, another quiet week in server land. we deployed the chat server build we tested last week to production. did you guys find anything funky?
[2015/02/19 15:07] nolink (whirly.fizzle): Chat lag is broken
[2015/02/19 15:07] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Hello, Simon.
[2015/02/19 15:07] Simon Linden: I'm working on adding it back in, Whirly
[2015/02/19 15:07] Simon Linden: Hello Yuzuru
[2015/02/19 15:07] nolink (whirly.fizzle): Awesome
[2015/02/19 15:07] Simon Linden: Hi everyone
[2015/02/19 15:07] Rex Cronon: hi simoin
[2015/02/19 15:07] Rex Cronon: simon*
[2015/02/19 15:07] Simon Linden: hey Rex
[2015/02/19 15:08] Jenna Felton: hello Simon:)
[2015/02/19 15:08] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): My friend found the issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yM8y_0M7Xd4
[2015/02/19 15:08] Rex Cronon: imo u will be very succesfull at adding lag back into the chat:)
[2015/02/19 15:08] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): MouseDown and Sim crossing and MouseeUP
[2015/02/19 15:09] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): mouse up event is not returned.
[2015/02/19 15:09] Simon Linden: ugh ... I never thought about that but I can imagine control events and crossings getting mixed up
[2015/02/19 15:10] Rex Cronon: it gets lost in translation:)
[2015/02/19 15:10] Rex Cronon: i mean tp
[2015/02/19 15:10] Simon Linden: yes, there's a chunk of time when you're in limbo and your data is going from one region to the next
[2015/02/19 15:10] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Is it the bug of LSL scripter?
[2015/02/19 15:10] Simon Linden: Once you're in the next region, it really needs to ensure that the control state is correct for what you have on the viewer
[2015/02/19 15:11] Simon Linden: I don't know, Yuzuru, or if there is a way to work around it
[2015/02/19 15:11] Jenna Felton: can the control evend be quieed while crosing over the sim bondary?
[2015/02/19 15:11] Simon Linden: I'd also prefer a jira BUG report that accurately describes what is lost or broken
[2015/02/19 15:12] Jenna Felton: control event queued or whatever it is pronounced :)
[2015/02/19 15:12] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): I didn't heard from him about avoiding it.
[2015/02/19 15:12] Jenna Felton: although actually bad idea, than the bike will drive and turn and drive until the quiee is empty and i am at the other sim bondary where i not wanted go
[2015/02/19 15:13] Simon Linden: Perhaps, Jenna ... but there isn't a queue like that now that I'm aware of. The existing queue is associated with the running script on the server - and that's not up during the TP or crossing
[2015/02/19 15:13] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Whirly, do you know the jira about it?
[2015/02/19 15:14] nolink (whirly.fizzle): At least his HUD never fell off on region change ;)
[2015/02/19 15:14] nolink (whirly.fizzle): I don't no
[2015/02/19 15:14] nolink (whirly.fizzle): Not good with scripting issues though
[2015/02/19 15:14] Rex Cronon: i think is queue
[2015/02/19 15:14] Simon Linden: It seems like there should be a step when you arrive in the 2nd region which compares the script control levels, what the viewer has and inserts the right events to the script to get there
[2015/02/19 15:15] Simon Linden: but I'm just thinking off the top of my head here .. it's speculation
[2015/02/19 15:15] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Thank you, Whirly. I ask him to write the jira about it. But he is Japanese. It is hard for him..
[2015/02/19 15:15] Rex Cronon: i think there r lindens that r fluent injapanese
[2015/02/19 15:15] nolink (whirly.fizzle): Whers the HUD from?
[2015/02/19 15:16] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): I heard it is only from HUD.
[2015/02/19 15:17] Simon Linden: if he can just write it really simple steps, we'll be able to understand
[2015/02/19 15:17] Simon Linden: Really simple if it's in Japanese ... I spent a few years in Tokyo but that was long before SL :)
[2015/02/19 15:17] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): only steps?
[2015/02/19 15:18] Simon Linden: well ... it would be good to know a) the control state as they leave the region then b) what they press or release and c) what didn't happen correctly
[2015/02/19 15:19] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): OK, I will ask him. Can I send a demo HUD to you, Simon?
[2015/02/19 15:20] Simon Linden: ok ... it needs to have open permissions, if you can
[2015/02/19 15:20] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): I see.
[2015/02/19 15:21] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): I know you have God power :D
[2015/02/19 15:22] Simon Linden: I try not to abuse my superpowers ;)
[2015/02/19 15:22] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Its OK OK.
[2015/02/19 15:24] Gibson Firehawk: once in a while when flying over mainland from one region to another...i might run across one that i cant enter and get an "Unable to create pending connection" message....what is usually the cause of that?
[2015/02/19 15:24] Jenna Felton: I never had that message
[2015/02/19 15:24] Simon Linden: That's an odd one, Gibson
[2015/02/19 15:24] nolink (whirly.fizzle): Ive seen that
[2015/02/19 15:24] nolink (whirly.fizzle): Not often though
[2015/02/19 15:24] Gibson Firehawk: the region is visible from the outside so it doesnt appear to be offline...just cant enter it
[2015/02/19 15:25] Gibson Firehawk: the message shows as a notification that needs dismissed
[2015/02/19 15:25] Jenna Felton: perhaps its about to restat?
[2015/02/19 15:25] Jenna Felton: i mean the region
[2015/02/19 15:25] Simon Linden: There is a block on entering right before a timed restart ... but that should be rare
[2015/02/19 15:26] Gibson Firehawk: i cant recall for sure but isnt there a specific message on region restart for that case?
[2015/02/19 15:26] Gibson Firehawk: when trying to do an actual cross and the region is about to be restarted
[2015/02/19 15:26] nolink (whirly.fizzle): It says something like you cannot enter the region because it is full or about to restart
[2015/02/19 15:27] Simon Linden: I'd have to check but I think you're right
[2015/02/19 15:27] nolink (whirly.fizzle): That pending connection thing, it can happen when just trying to walk over a region border too. Usually only one way. Restarting the region fixes it.
[2015/02/19 15:28] Jenna Felton: I beleive the wiki needs a page that is listing all error messages with explanations :)
[2015/02/19 15:28] Simon Linden: it sounds like the network is getting blocked or bogged down somehow
[2015/02/19 15:28] Rex Cronon: i believe only whirly knows all of them error messages;)
[2015/02/19 15:29] Jenna Felton: at least the whole jiira
[2015/02/19 15:31] nolink (whirly.fizzle): Its in notifications.xml
[2015/02/19 15:31] nolink (whirly.fizzle): <notification
[2015/02/19 15:32] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Does notifications.xml know all message?
[2015/02/19 15:33] Simon Linden: It _should_ but it's not required
[2015/02/19 15:33] Simon Linden: Basically the server sends an alert or message
[2015/02/19 15:33] Jenna Felton: that means the viewer generates the message
[2015/02/19 15:33] nolink (whirly.fizzle): Oh and...
[2015/02/19 15:33] nolink (whirly.fizzle): <notification
[2015/02/19 15:33] Jenna Felton: when it is in this file
[2015/02/19 15:33] Gibson Firehawk: i dont see it linked to any actual viewer code for firing off that message
[2015/02/19 15:34] Simon Linden: if the viewer has it in notifications.xml, it uses that - so it's translated properly
[2015/02/19 15:34] nolink (whirly.fizzle): Oh wrong one
[2015/02/19 15:34] Jenna Felton: ah
[2015/02/19 15:34] Simon Linden: that way we can add a new one to the server in English, add it also to the viewer code, and either one can go out first
[2015/02/19 15:34] Simon Linden: (usually it's server first)
[2015/02/19 15:35] Jenna Felton: ok, that works too :) but needs to update the viewer when you add the new error message.
[2015/02/19 15:35] Jenna Felton: unless that xml is downloaded on login
[2015/02/19 15:36] Rex Cronon: why do u need that xml file for the error messages sent by the server?
[2015/02/19 15:37] Simon Linden: It's in the viewer code, Jenna
[2015/02/19 15:37] Jonathan Yap: To translate them to other languages Rex
[2015/02/19 15:37] Gibson Firehawk: the viewer has to know what to say in the notification when it gets the "NoPendingConnection" message
[2015/02/19 15:37] Simon Linden: For localization, Rex
[2015/02/19 15:37] Jenna Felton: because you want log in into SL with an outdated viewer when you can not update it and stil see the correct new error messages
[2015/02/19 15:37] Rex Cronon: if the server gets updated and u still use the old xml file u could get the wrong message
[2015/02/19 15:38] Margithe: ((forgot >.<))
[2015/02/19 15:38] Jenna Felton: hello Margithe :)
[2015/02/19 15:38] Simon Linden: if we want to change the message, we can do it two ways: update the viewer, or make a new message from the server
[2015/02/19 15:38] Jonathan Yap: You will never get a wrong message, but you may get a message in English when you are set to another language
[2015/02/19 15:38] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Ah I found it, it is in the sikin/default/xui.
[2015/02/19 15:38] Jenna Felton: true Jonathan
[2015/02/19 15:38] Simon Linden: yes,that's it Yuzuru
[2015/02/19 15:39] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): And I found the miss translation..
[2015/02/19 15:40] Rex Cronon: imo it would be better if there was a page on ll site with error codes and the server sent the error code while the viewer could go to that web page/service and get the localized message
[2015/02/19 15:41] Jonathan Yap: Rex, that would be much slower and prone to network issues
[2015/02/19 15:42] Simon Linden: I'm sure there are many ways to do it ... what we have now works ok. There are much more broken things that need attention
[2015/02/19 15:42] Margithe: Is there work done on groups still?
[2015/02/19 15:42] Simon Linden: group chat?
[2015/02/19 15:42] Margithe: no, joining etc
[2015/02/19 15:43] Simon Linden: joining the group itself? I didn't know there were problems there. Do you mean starting group chat?
[2015/02/19 15:43] Margithe: No, i mean joining. I'm looking of there's any bug reports open, but i'm not as good with Jira as WHirly :P
[2015/02/19 15:44] Jenna Felton: i beleive the last what was doing on groups was group ban and new roles
[2015/02/19 15:44] nolink (whirly.fizzle): The initialising error?
[2015/02/19 15:44] Jonathan Yap: I fixed one about a year ago, when you were trying to join a group by invitation and your group list was full
[2015/02/19 15:44] Simon Linden: I haven't seen issues there
[2015/02/19 15:44] Caleb Linden: or maxing out the group numbers at 42?
[2015/02/19 15:45] Margithe: When your groups are full, and you get an invite to another, you get a message that you are full and still have the opportunity to join. So, you can go and drop a group or two, and hit the join button. But that doesn't join the group and you have to ask for another invite
[2015/02/19 15:45] Rex Cronon: jonathat, taking in consideration that the whole sl is based on network connections u could say that it won't make a big difference:)
[2015/02/19 15:45] Jonathan Yap: Margithe, I fixed that bug
[2015/02/19 15:45] Margithe: You did? I got it yesterday.
[2015/02/19 15:46] Jonathan Yap: What viewer are you using? The fix went into the LL one (I hope!)
[2015/02/19 15:46] Margithe: maybe my viewer is too old >.<
[2015/02/19 15:46] nolink (whirly.fizzle): Whats the amint of that jonathan? It may not be in FS yet
[2015/02/19 15:46] Margithe: Ll viewer gives me a headache, can't use it
[2015/02/19 15:46] nolink (whirly.fizzle): *maint
[2015/02/19 15:46] Margithe: Firestorm 4.6.9
[2015/02/19 15:47] Margithe: /me curls in shame for an old viewer.
[2015/02/19 15:47] Gibson Firehawk: FS 4.6.9 is like 16 releases behind LL :P
[2015/02/19 15:47] Jenna Felton: i am using 4.6.7
[2015/02/19 15:47] Jenna Felton: hehe
[2015/02/19 15:48] nolink (whirly.fizzle): lol next release soon aaaaand its merged up to LL default release
[2015/02/19 15:48] Margithe: But ok, if the fix is in the LL viewer, then eventually it will trickle down. I just had that bug like an eon ago and was surprised to see it again
[2015/02/19 15:48] nolink (whirly.fizzle): & youll hate all the AIS3 bugs :P
[2015/02/19 15:48] Jonathan Yap: whirly, do you ahve the jira for that?
[2015/02/19 15:48] nolink (whirly.fizzle): Looking
[2015/02/19 15:49] Margithe: oh, and a question: when showing metadata, what does gray mean on physics shapes?
[2015/02/19 15:50] nolink (whirly.fizzle): https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/STORM-2018
[2015/02/19 15:51] nolink (whirly.fizzle): Its in FS http://hg.phoenixviewer.com/phoenix-firestorm-lgpl/rev/fdd10d9f1e7f
[2015/02/19 15:51] nolink (whirly.fizzle): Next release lol
[2015/02/19 15:51] nolink (whirly.fizzle): *cough*
[2015/02/19 15:51] Margithe: that looks closed but not fixed?
[2015/02/19 15:52] nolink (whirly.fizzle): The storm?
[2015/02/19 15:52] nolink (whirly.fizzle): Its released
[2015/02/19 15:53] Margithe: i need a crash course in reading the jiras >.<
[2015/02/19 15:53] Margithe: anyhow, the gray physics shape... any takers?
[2015/02/19 15:54] Simon Linden: I'm not familiar with that code, sorry
[2015/02/19 15:55] nolink (whirly.fizzle): gray physics shape?
[2015/02/19 15:55] Margithe: when showing metadata
[2015/02/19 15:56] Margithe: trying to figure out whats wrong with it... works fine to walk on, but vehicles sink it in like it was mud
[2015/02/19 15:56] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Develop - Rendering Metadata - Phisics Shape?
[2015/02/19 15:56] Rex Cronon: does pathfinding has anyting do to with it?
[2015/02/19 15:56] Margithe: yeah.
[2015/02/19 15:56] Margithe: hmmmm.
[2015/02/19 15:56] Margithe: good question, i will look.
[2015/02/19 15:57] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): I can't find any gray objects on this SIM.
[2015/02/19 15:57] Elizabeth Jarvinen (polysail): I think it's something to do with the physics
[2015/02/19 15:58] Margithe: it's not very common.
[2015/02/19 15:58] Elizabeth Jarvinen (polysail): density of the object
[2015/02/19 15:58] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Only I can see green, blue and yellow.
[2015/02/19 15:58] Jenna Felton: phantom is stil shown as blue, and physic shape none, is shown amlost invisible
[2015/02/19 15:58] Elizabeth Jarvinen (polysail): I remember Red implied that it was bad
[2015/02/19 15:58] Elizabeth Jarvinen (polysail): or orange
[2015/02/19 15:58] Margithe: Right. But gray? i can't figure out gray
[2015/02/19 15:58] Margithe: especially since it seems fine to walk on, but then driving on it is madness
[2015/02/19 15:59] Margithe: /me sank at first, then had her car flipped upside down
[2015/02/19 15:59] Elizabeth Jarvinen (polysail): perhaps it's a 1 sided physics object
[2015/02/19 15:59] Elizabeth Jarvinen (polysail): was the surface mesh?
[2015/02/19 15:59] Margithe: yus
[2015/02/19 15:59] Elizabeth Jarvinen (polysail): that might be it then
