Agenda Torley Linden: HELLO
Gigs Taggart: hi torley
Circan Balut: hello
Circan Balut: ...
Circan Balut: the torley
Gigs Taggart: I was wondering if the office hours was cancelled sitting here all alone :)
Gigs Taggart: I was searching email desperately hehe
Torley Linden: Awww!
Torley Linden: Well Bridie's going to be out for some weeks... but Aric and I are here and co-hosting.
Gigs Taggart: cool
Torley Linden: Hmmm... there are usually emails sent about this? I didn't know that. *looks oblivious*
Torley Linden: If so, then I should do that next week.
Gigs Taggart: you did.... kidnap her, did you?? :)
Torley Linden: Haha no she's taking personal time off with her family!
Gigs Taggart: torley the evvvil project manager
Torley Linden: I sure miss her lots already.
Torley Linden: LOL.
Gigs Taggart: locking programmers in a room
Torley Linden: I'm not that malicious... yet... hahaha...
Gigs Taggart: hehe
Torley Linden: So Gigs, emails about these triages, where do they go to?
Gigs Taggart: what do you mean?
Torley Linden: I can announce ahead if that's going to be the case...
Torley Linden: You said you checked emails...
Gigs Taggart: oh
Gigs Taggart: well if something is cancelled then it goes on sldev normally
Torley Linden: Ahhh gotcha. K...
Torley Linden: I'm just checking with Aric to see what's up...
Gigs Taggart: (this is a triage??) shows how out of touch I am :)
Torley Linden: How've you been GIgs?
Torley Linden: Circan you around?
Gigs Taggart: good
Torley Linden: LOL, yes, it's the https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Bug_triage/Wednesday_Agenda one.
Gigs Taggart: I'm working on the camera
Gigs Taggart: ripping its guts out
Torley Linden: Oh which camera? :O
Gigs Taggart: so it will no longer have the will to flip around insanely
Torley Linden: Ahhh.
Gigs Taggart: the agent camera in the client
Torley Linden: You mean when zooming in to prims and stuff?
Gigs Taggart: heh yeah
Torley Linden: That "Camera rotates 180 degrees" thing?
Gigs Taggart: Yeah, I actually didn't set out to fix that bug
Gigs Taggart: but I think what I'm working on will really help with that bug too
Torley Linden: Hey hey Aric!
Gigs Taggart: hi aric
Aric Linden: Hi torley!
Circan Balut: hello
Aric Linden: heya gigs
Torley Linden: Good to see ya!
Aric Linden: how goes?
Torley Linden: We're gearing up for RC 1.18.4 soon too, hopefully by next week.
Gigs Taggart: cool
Aric Linden just came from a meeting planning for that
Gigs Taggart: any of my patches merged yet? :)
Aric Linden: gigs, not yet
Aric Linden: but you're in there, i promise
Gigs Taggart: yeah, I wasn't too hopeful, I wouldn't be surprised to see them pushed back to a 1.19 or something
Gigs Taggart: they are some pretty big chunks of code, some of them
Torley Linden: Time sure flies... Gigs thanks for your great patches! You seem to be getting really prolific.
Gigs Taggart: heh thanks, I think that's the first time I've been described as prolific :)
Aric Linden: well, we haven't finalized content yet
Torley Linden: =D
Torley Linden: Exciting times... what else is new, Aric?
Aric Linden: i'm finishing up a draft proposal for new development process for linden
Aric Linden: that's been EATING a ton of my time
Gigs Taggart: is it more shiny?
Torley Linden: Ooh my.
Aric Linden: well, it's more musical.
Aric Linden thinks with his ears
Gigs Taggart: oh man, I totally can't sing
Torley Linden: =)
Torley Linden: *air guitar riff for Aric* hehe.
IM: Lion Hirons: hi i'm Lion Hirons
McPhenius Swain: Hi everyone
Torley Linden: Hey McPhenius!
Circan Balut: hello mcphenius
Torley Linden: We should get rolling so... we're here at what's regularly Bridie's Release Candidate bug triage, but she's Out Of Office as we say... today we're looking at this agenda:
Torley Linden: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Bug_triage/Wednesday_Agenda
Torley Linden: Thanks for being here and helping us go through these, chime in with your ideas + suggestions.
Aric Linden: We definitely appreciate it
Gigs Taggart: I like small triages :)
Torley Linden: So without further ado *drum roll* Aric, lead the way! (I'm helping to edit issues and update the wiki doc.)
Aric Linden: thanks torley. (I feel like i'm hosting a game show today)
Torley Linden: Hehe.
McPhenius Swain: lol
Aric Linden: VWR-2565 is first up
IM: Lion Hirons: i just wanted to let you know that i realy thank you and love your tutorials
Gigs Taggart: 2565 we covered on monday...
Gigs Taggart: it's imported it seems
Gigs Taggart: might want to just skip it
Aric Linden: so we did.
Torley Linden: Ah good to know!
Aric Linden: sorry about that.
Aric Linden: VWR-2628
Daedalus Young: hi
McPhenius Swain: Hey Dae
Gigs Taggart: 2628... hmm
Torley Linden: Heya Daed!
McPhenius Swain: Random Macs... leaves me out
Gigs Taggart: I'm not sure how that function could possibly crash...
Gigs Taggart: looks like enough information to import though
McPhenius Swain: Hi Wyn :)
Wyn Galbraith was in the right church wrong row.
Aric Linden: The developers have differing opinions about travelling through stacks - how much is enough, but I think we should take this
IM: Lion Hirons: im japanese, and many ppl like me whoes no good in english have hard time when we try to get use to SL
Aric Linden: I get mixed messages on this stuff internally. But I like stacks so...
Aric Linden: let's take it
Aric Linden: wyn, it looks as though you got voice working.
Aric Linden: VWR-2086 is next
IM: Lion Hirons: and a lot of japanese ppl watch ur tutorials on youtube
Gigs Taggart: it's imported, for benjamin
Gigs Taggart: next :)
McPhenius Swain: moving right along :)
IM: Lion Hirons: i hope my english is good enogh to tell u what want to say
Aric Linden: VWR-2004
Gigs Taggart: VWR-2004 is something that I've observed lately too
Gigs Taggart: I was "gonna" report it, but it looks like someone did
Gigs Taggart: so it's a solid repro
IM: Lion Hirons: thank you very much for making tutorials
McPhenius Swain: I've noticed it lately, but when I was on the MDStyle OI
Torley Linden: Sorry I'm getting behind, being pinged about JIRA config issues.
Daedalus Young: yep, I have that too
Wyn Galbraith: Jira just dumped on me.
IM: Lion Hirons: hope u have good SLdays!
IM: Lion Hirons: byebye
McPhenius Swain: yep, did it for me just now
Aric Linden: we should just take this one. it's easy.
Torley Linden: What happened guys?
Gigs Taggart: It only does it the first time
Aric Linden: autofocus is probably wak
Gigs Taggart: but yeah it's a 100% repro
Gigs Taggart: and an annoying bug :)
Aric Linden: and ez to fix to boot
McPhenius Swain: it did it on my relog
Gigs Taggart: yeah
Daedalus Young: yes, it seems the region name isn't loaded, then when it is, the highlighting isn't done
Aric Linden: VWR-2590 is next
Aric Linden: Wow. this is a really cool bug
Torley Linden: *imports VWR-2004*
Gigs Taggart: heh
Aric Linden: it's really interesting. i know what's happening, at least i think I do
Torley Linden: Oh rats, there's a problem with the importer, it shows imported issues as "NULL" now... ack.
Torley Linden: *makes a note to have that investigated later*
Gigs Taggart: SL is usually pretty good about detecting a corrupted cache, but I guess it fails when it's completely gone :)
Aric Linden: rob broke it
Torley Linden: Oh thanks Aric, you ran into that before too?
McPhenius Swain: not it
Torley Linden: Rob? :)
Aric Linden: he updated it this AM for the new internal jira functionality
Torley Linden: Ahhh OK.
Torley Linden: Good to know.
Glitchez Shilova gave you Complaint. on Neo11 Thorne.
Aric Linden: Gigs, I think what's happening is that when you reformat there's no update on inventory until you relog
Wyn Galbraith: Do you test for null conditions?
Aric Linden: this is an awesome bug
Gigs Taggart: yeah
Aric Linden: let's take it Torley. it can go right to triage
Torley Linden: OK!
Aric Linden: Wyn, yes, we do test for null conditions, this is a really interesting edge case tho
Wyn Galbraith: Not something that would happen too often I hope.
Aric Linden: It's a really clever test case.
Torley Linden: *imports VWR-2590*
Wyn Galbraith cheers.
Aric Linden: I doubt it. but a good one to catch and fix
Aric Linden: VWR-2266 is next
Gigs Taggart: 2266 is one of *those* bugs :)
Aric Linden: /nods at Gigs
Aric Linden: We imported something similar a few weeks ago
Daedalus Young: I would say that's lag related
Torley Linden: Yeah I'm pretty sure VWR-2266 is a dupe or closely related to an existing one...
Torley Linden: like Aric said.
Aric Linden: /nods at daedalus
Wyn Galbraith has had a lot of hippo friends lately.
Aric Linden: I think we should close as dupe
McPhenius Swain: especially since a relog seems to fix it (for me) if I don't want to wait 20 minutes
Torley Linden: *closed as dupe*
Aric Linden: Thanks Torley. btw, I love your new look.
Wyn Galbraith: Next
Aric Linden: VWR-2550 is next
Gigs Taggart: we should populate their friends list with fake friends, like a picture frame
Torley Linden: Why thanks Aric, it was inspired by Harrison Ford. =)
Torley Linden: Hahah Gigs...
Aric Linden: nice
McPhenius Swain: it was you Torley? That took all that stuff from Sony :)
Torley Linden: LOL.
Torley Linden: Hmmm VWR-2550 looks like something to forward to Qarl and Periapse.
Torley Linden: Import and assign to Qarl perhaps?
Aric Linden: yes.
Gigs Taggart: heh yeah
Aric Linden: it's another nice one.
Torley Linden: Sounds good then! Thanks... *imports*
Gigs Taggart: it looks like they are expecting way too much from what is supposed to be an organic shape though :)
Gigs Taggart: but Qarl would know if there is a real issue there
Aric Linden: VWR-2421 is up next
Aric Linden: nice bug
Gigs Taggart: this one looks good
Aric Linden: jeeze, we're on a roll today.
Torley Linden: We're moving on a fast clip!
Aric Linden: i wish we had an inworld love machine
Torley Linden: I hope the agenda gets populated well for next week.
Torley Linden: Me too!
Aric Linden: give love to all these folks who help
Torley Linden: =D
Torley Linden: *imports*
Aric Linden: yep.
Aric Linden: thanks
Torley Linden: Happy to help.
Aric Linden: VWR-2474
Gigs Taggart: VWR-2474 was fixed by a patch nicholaz provided, I'm not sure if it is merged yet, but in any case it is a dupe of that.
Aric Linden: it appears to be fixed
Daedalus Young: I often get a lot of offline received notices, but it never crashed on me
McPhenius Swain: no crashes here for me
Torley Linden: Hm Gigs know where the dupe issue is so we can link and resolve?
Gigs Taggart: looking
Aric Linden: VWR-2559 is next
Wyn Galbraith hasn't seen that one.
Torley Linden: Thanks GIgs.
McPhenius Swain: I've accidently scaled them small, but never had it just "happen"
Torley Linden: Hmmm... how do I repro this?
Aric Linden: that's a good question
Daedalus Young: that's what I was wondering
Aric Linden: I can't tell from the description here
McPhenius Swain: I'm not even sure how I did it.. user error on my part probably :) But only happened once or twice while rushing something
Torley Linden: Anyone know?
Wyn Galbraith: I've scaled pretty small and haven't seen that either.
Aric Linden: trying now
McPhenius Swain: Looking at the second picture, I have never gone that small
Torley Linden: Neither have I...
Aric Linden: I think we should ask for specific repro steps
Aric Linden: anyone else?
McPhenius Swain: I agree, I can't do it
Daedalus Young: I would want to know where one would find a Preview window anyway
Daedalus Young: so repro steps it is
Torley Linden: *nods*
Torley Linden: *closes and asks for repro!*
Aric Linden: VWR-2549
Wyn Galbraith: Also ask for display settings.
Torley Linden: Good idea.
Aric Linden: i think we should close this one. As much as I love Nicholaz, I don't think we should be debugging his code
Daedalus Young: it says it also happens with the official viewer
Daedalus Young: but of course can be a combination of using official and Nich
Daedalus Young: if nobody else has this issue though...
Daedalus Young: just like my About SL-bug from last week, turned out it was a broken router
Torley Linden: Oh that's what you found Daed?
Torley Linden: Good to know followup from that!
Torley Linden was wondering.
Daedalus Young: yep, replaced the thing, works again
Aric Linden: I'm wondering if something in Nicholaz' browser overwrote something in the official release
Aric Linden: ahh. Daedalus beat me to the punch
Aric Linden: /grins
Gigs Taggart: Torley, the one related to crashing on startup from IMs was VWR-2524.. I'm not sure if it's a duplicate but it may be.
Torley Linden: :)
Torley Linden: Thanks Gigs!
Torley Linden: I'll have a look...
Aric Linden: I don't know exactly what we can do with this issue
Aric Linden: I guess we can take it and I'll talk to Steve about it
Aric Linden: I have a feeling he'll say, can't do much without a repro, but maybe he knows some channel magic
Torley Linden: OK... let's do that then.
Aric Linden: thanks
Gigs Taggart: a log would help too
Torley Linden: Yeah, good point Gigs.
Gigs Taggart: the voice component is pretty good at logging
Torley Linden has become accustomed to always asking for logs...
Aric Linden: VWR-2548
Gigs Taggart: VWR-2548 I've seen before, but I think it may just be a more extreme case of other freezing I've been having
Gigs Taggart: I have fast timers on my freezing bug that I believe is the same thing
Gigs Taggart: I seem to get the freezing when zooming out quickly, or bring a new agent into view
Daedalus Young: zooming out quickly, I've seen that
Gigs Taggart: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-2659
Gigs Taggart: there's mine with fast timers attached
Wyn Galbraith: He doesn't say what graphics is being used. This is how I crash the intel chips mostly
Gigs Taggart: usually it's less than 20 seconds, but sometimes it's long enough to disconnect
Wyn Galbraith facepalms and ooks at the log
Torley Linden: Hmmm.
Aric Linden: I can't repro this
Aric Linden: which doesn't mean it's not a problem
Gigs Taggart: I get it every day, at least 20 times a day :)
Aric Linden: cool.
Torley Linden: I haven't experienced this myself... but it sure looks like since both Gigs and Strife have experienced it... it sure must be annoying!
Gigs Taggart: it generally happens when zooming, especially when you zoom in on an avatar :)
Torley Linden: Hmmm...
Gigs Taggart: or zoom out quickly
Torley Linden: that sounds like an older issue?
Aric Linden: so you alt tab away, come back and zoom?
Torley Linden: Sec... lemme find that older one.
Torley Linden: "Regular viewer freezes since update to Voice viewer" in https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-2051 Gigs...
Gigs Taggart: let me look
Daedalus Young: I get it sometimes when just moving the cam around
Gigs Taggart: Aric I know what you are thinking, swapping right?
Gigs Taggart: Aric it seems to do it not only when I first bring focus back to SL.
Gigs Taggart: sometimes just out of the blue
Aric Linden: yes, gigs, i'm thinking about either swap or some beeezaaaro focus thing
Gigs Taggart: Torley: yeah my bug is probably a dupe of 2051, I should merge
Torley Linden: Kk good to know.
Aric Linden: yowsa
Aric Linden: just got it reproed
Gigs Taggart: hehe by you?
Aric Linden: yes
Aric Linden: not consistent tho
Aric Linden: hmm.
Gigs Taggart: try zooming way out
Gigs Taggart: that pullback of the camera really hits it a lot
Gigs Taggart: sometimes just a few seconds, sometimes a minute+
McPhenius Swain: Gigs, are you doing that by scrollwheel on mouse?
Aric Linden: i found it by scrolling in the tab away window, then repushing focus
Gigs Taggart: no, alt-focus zoom
Aric Linden: McPhenius, jinx!
McPhenius Swain: ok
McPhenius Swain: LOL, Im doing wheel with it going fine
Aric Linden: i found it by scroll wheel pushing
McPhenius Swain: hmm
Aric Linden: torley, let's go ahead and take it
Torley Linden: Alright!
Aric Linden: I'll see if I can get a consistent repro
McPhenius Swain: yeah, tired of zooming in on that skull and going way out ;)
IM: Glitchez Shilova: torley are you on?
Aric Linden: lol
Torley Linden: Good that you were able to repro it, Aric.
Torley Linden: At least we know that's possible.
Aric Linden: you talking about my skull shirt?
McPhenius Swain: true
Torley Linden: HAHA.
Aric Linden: I'm thinking of updating my look.
McPhenius Swain: well your right across, easy to zoom :)
Torley Linden: I need more men's clothes.
Aric Linden: maybe going furry
Aric Linden: with a mohawk of course
Gigs Taggart: I'm attaching my screen shots to 2051
Torley Linden: Furry version of Aric, haha with the trademark signature purple mohawk!
Torley Linden: Thanks Gigs.
Aric Linden: cool huh
Aric Linden: maybe do a bunny like jaime
McPhenius Swain: dang, no millions in McDonald's Monopoly
Torley Linden: I played that Monopoly game and all I got (so far) was a muffin.
Aric Linden: VWR-2532
McPhenius Swain: )
Torley Linden: *tries to repro this by uploading the texture*
Gigs Taggart: hehe
Gigs Taggart: funny they complain about the price
McPhenius Swain: yep
Gigs Taggart: when we spend 50L reproducing
Gigs Taggart: hehe
Torley Linden: I couldn't repro this.
Torley Linden: The texture looks correct to me.
Torley Linden is in Second Life 1.18.3 (70574) (WindLight variation)
Gigs Taggart: still loading for me (openjpeg)
Daedalus Young: 50 L$ ex. VAT, so total 59.5
Gigs Taggart: hehe
McPhenius Swain: lol
Gigs Taggart: it actually uploaded correctly in openjpeg too
Daedalus Young: lol Aric
Gigs Taggart: which is strang since most things don't :)
Aric Linden: grins
Torley Linden: Ain't that a dandy!
Torley Linden: I'm inclined to mark this as CANNOT REPRODUCE then.
Gigs Taggart: yeah
Aric Linden: agreed
Torley Linden: *marks*
Torley Linden: Thankya fer chiming in!
Wyn Galbraith: Is there suppose to be an image there? All I see is black withs streaks
Aric Linden: VWR-2347
Torley Linden: Yeah, it's kinda like matted hair.
Gigs Taggart: you must be *this* hard core to see the image
Torley Linden: HAHAHA.
Torley Linden: *does rock out motion*
Wyn Galbraith: Oh good. That's what I see.
Gigs Taggart: I got 2347 a lot too
Wyn Galbraith: That's what a week in RL does, can't recognize SL hairy stuff.
Gigs Taggart: but, I'm not sure if nicholaz's patch I spoke of earlier helps this much or not
Torley Linden: I remember seeing VWR-2347 before...
Aric Linden: yes. if you read the notes trail you can see we've visted previously
Gigs Taggart: I got that backtrace a *ton* in previous versions
Aric Linden: hmm. i can't tell if fluf tried to log on to a different region or not
Gigs Taggart: not so much lately
Torley Linden: Yeah Aric, Fluf didn't make that clear.
Gigs Taggart: I think it's a purely client side issue
Aric Linden: Gigs, do you read the stack as indicating corruption?
Gigs Taggart: the only server side part is that the presence information lingers
Aric Linden: here
Aric Linden: 2007-09-20T14:58:15Z INFO: process_enable_simulator: simulator_enable() Enabling 66.150.244.80:13005 with code 199329784 *** glibc detected *** bin/do-not-directly-run-secondlife-bin: double free or corruption (fasttop): 0xabe7b830 ***
Wyn Galbraith thinks she might be about to crash.
Aric Linden: Good night Wyn
Gigs Taggart: yeah, I tried to track down that bug before Aric
Wyn Galbraith means software crash LOL
Gigs Taggart: I'm trying to remember, there was some subtle thing that causes it...hmm
McPhenius Swain: I was thinking Aric was being very polite :)
Gigs Taggart: but the backtrace was really useless for finding where it was happening
Gigs Taggart: I remember that much
Aric Linden: you don't know me very well yet do you McPhenius?
Aric Linden: /grins
McPhenius Swain: lol, I just know the time zone she's in and it's definitely not night :)
Wyn Galbraith: Same timezone as SL
Aric Linden: yeah, gigs. I don't see much of use, but i'm still learning to read SL stacks
Gigs Taggart: I found a good article
Gigs Taggart: about what causes glibc to spit that out normally
Gigs Taggart: I'll see if I can find it again
Aric Linden: ahh, cool. nice one gigs
Gigs Taggart: it's not as straightforward as the message indicates :)
Gigs Taggart: but I should say, in 3.5 I haven't seen this crash
Torley Linden: OMG is someone wearing a giant cookie? :O
Aric Linden: Torley, I'm tempted to take this, even though I don't think there's much that can be done internally
Torley Linden stares.
Gigs Taggart: so it might be fixed
Aric Linden: it will give me a chance to ask don some questions about reading stacks
Jns20 Blister: HOPE ON
Torley Linden: Sounds good to me, Aric, just to have it checked out...
Torley Linden: *nods*
Torley Linden: let's import it then...
Aric Linden: Nice job today folks
Aric Linden: I gotta run off.
Torley Linden: OK have a good one Aric!
Torley Linden: Thanks all for being here with us today at the Release Candidate bug triage.
Torley Linden: We'll have another one next week, same time!
Aric Linden: Thanks to all with a special Thanks to Torley "Harrison" linden
Torley Linden: And McPhenius, you remind me of one of the twins from The Matrix.
Torley Linden: Hahaha... =D
Torley Linden: All too happy to help!
Aric Linden: y'all done great today
Torley Linden: T'care.
