- [12:07] Soft Linden: Hooray agenda [1]
- [12:07] Aric Linden: ok. pulling up the agenda now
- [12:08] Aric Linden: is a little scattered today
- [12:08] Soft Linden: per Gigs and Harleen. You should sign these things when you put so much effort in. Need a wiki graphic for it.
- [12:08] Aric Linden: first up vwr-5697
- [12:09] Soft Linden: So there's ongoing discussion about this one...
- [12:09] Soft Linden: It seems that the problem is there's a bug somewhere in VFS that's causing a file to get written to the program directory instead of the application data directory...
- [12:09] Aric Linden: yes - we tried to repro in house to no avail last week
- [12:09] Soft Linden: Vista is much less permissive of that than XP
- [12:10] Bato Brendel: a log added to this to see the exact error would be probally a good idea.
- [12:10] Alexa Linden: want me to ask for one?
- [12:10] Soft Linden: Sure or if this really is happening this way, something that looks for an unexpected hard path in the vfs file routines
- [12:11] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:11] Gigs Taggart: Well there's more info in another bug
- [12:11] Gigs Taggart: that was closed "contact support" for some reason :(
- [12:11] Gigs Taggart: let me dig them up
- [12:11] Gigs Taggart: [2]
- [12:11] Gigs Taggart: [3]
- [12:12] Aric Linden: I'd suggest that we link them and have Legba retry
- [12:12] Gigs Taggart: Please delete the SecondLife directories (SecondLife, SecondLifeReleaseCandidate, SecondLifeWindlight) found inside the Vista VirtualStore and reinstall. The VirtualStore is inside your user directory inside the hidden AppData folder. C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\
- [12:12] Aric Linden: I need to re-discuss with Steve as well
- [12:12] Gigs Taggart: if you can get someone that has this happen to them to look in the virtual store
- [12:12] Bato Brendel: well its how I found the shader compile problems in the past and other startup issues, gigs are they linked by 'relation'? yeah only see one linked by relation to this one. /VWR-5564
- [12:12] Gigs Taggart: the files in question will be right there in the virtual store
- [12:13] Alexa Linden: why did a resident close this?
- [12:13] Alexa Linden: odd
- [12:14] Aric Linden: Let's take it and assign it to me - it'll trigger my brain to revisit the topic with steve
- [12:14] Alexa Linden: ok will do
- [12:14] Aric Linden: svc-2036 is next
- [12:15] Soft Linden: Found the comment from sldev and added it to the previous issue, too.
- [12:15] Harleen Gretzky: This seems to have been fixed by Kelly in Beta but missed the release
- [12:16] Aric Linden: going out in a patch this week, I think.
- [12:16] Aric Linden: why is jira so slow?
- [12:17] Harleen Gretzky: No problems here
- [12:17] Aric Linden: is it just to torture me? hightech water boarding
- [12:17] Alexa Linden: lol
- [12:17] Aric Linden: the internal instance
- [12:17] Harleen Gretzky: lol
- [12:17] Soft Linden: It's faster if you access via http instead of https - the hosting company acknowledged a problem with how they've distributed ssl load, but I haven't heard of a fix yet.
- [12:17] Aric Linden: Alexa - please import and assign to sidewinder
- [12:18] Alexa Linden: ok :)
- [12:18] Aric Linden: leave a note asking if it's fixed
- [12:18] Bridie Linden: nods
- [12:18] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:19] Aric Linden: svc-1910 is next
- [12:19] Harleen Gretzky: I tried it on the Beta grid while it was still 1.19 and it was fixed
- [12:19] Harleen Gretzky: (SVC-2036 that is)
- [12:19] Gigs Taggart: SVC-1910 I've seen happen before a long time ago
- [12:20] Gigs Taggart: I remember an update around ... 1.10? That broke every omega object until the script was reset
- [12:20] Gigs Taggart: this seems similar :P
- [12:20] Aric Linden: this is being worked internally
- [12:20] Aric Linden: I saw a thread on it last week
- [12:20] Harleen Gretzky: In this case it takes a sim restart
- [12:20] Soft Linden: We should really see if maybe Kelly wants to be here for this... ar there many more havok issues on the list?
- [12:20] Aric Linden: nods at Harleen
- [12:20] Gigs Taggart: soft a couple
- [12:20] Aric Linden: or sidewinder
- [12:21] Alexa Linden: good idea
- [12:21] Aric Linden: let's import this and ask sidewinder if it's fixed
- [12:21] Gigs Taggart: well yeah there's about 10 more havok ones
- [12:21] Aric Linden: I'm pretty sure it is
- [12:21] Gigs Taggart: better get kellz
- [12:21] Bato Brendel: lltargetomega right?
- [12:21] Soft Linden: Yar, did an IRC ping
- [12:22] Aric Linden: right
- [12:22] Bato Brendel: looks fine to me I just did this one right now
- [12:22] Soft Linden: Kelly's coming.
- [12:22] Aric Linden: svc-1980 up
- [12:22] Harleen Gretzky: New objects work when this happens, just old ones stop and nothing restarts them except a sim restart
- [12:23] Gigs Taggart: just reboot the grid
- [12:23] Soft Linden: Hey, CD!
- [12:23] Gigs Taggart: you have a big red button for that right?
- [12:23] Harleen Gretzky: lol
- [12:24] Bato Brendel: 1980 sounds like the bounding 'overall issue'
- [12:24] Gigs Taggart: I don't think so
- [12:24] Bato Brendel: well just quoting what he said
- [12:24] Soft Linden: Login is being very slow for Kelly. Would make sense to take a couple non-physics issues for now
- [12:25] Bato Brendel: ball sinking into the table surface
- [12:25] Gigs Taggart: skip to patches then Aric
- [12:25] Aric Linden: will do
- [12:25] Gigs Taggart: all the rest are kelly bugs :P
- [12:25] Gigs Taggart: up to patches
- [12:25] Celierra Darling: (Hi Soft! :) )
- [12:25] Aric Linden: vwr-5946
- [12:25] Soft Linden: And here he is!
- [12:25] Cogsworth Linden: Kelly!!!
- [12:25] Kelly Linden: Howdy
- [12:26] Bato Brendel: rubs his head from Kelly landing on him
- [12:26] Aric Linden: ok, back to svc-1980
- [12:26] Harleen Gretzky: HI Kelly
- [12:26] Aric Linden: hi kelly
- [12:26] Gigs Taggart: I don't know about these hungarian patches. They do all their math backward.
- [12:26] Alexa Linden: lol
- [12:26] Gigs Taggart: oh wait that's polish
- [12:26] Gigs Taggart: is a dumb american
- [12:26] Soft Linden: What's with the JIRA URLers vanishing all over?
- [12:26] Celierra Darling: Hehehe, you mean prefix :P
- [12:27] Gigs Taggart: yeah polish do their math backward, hungarians name their variables weird :P
- [12:27] Aric Linden: let's go on to svc-1980
- [12:27] Soft Linden: SVC-1980
- [12:28] Soft Linden: In Havok 4 server 1.20 (maingrid): physical hover height is lower than in Havok 1
- [12:28] Jira URL-er: Invalid format
- [12:28] Bato Brendel: in comment to his surfboards, a pic would be nice as supposedly water vechicles are reporting now to be 'alittle high' not low anymore but also I know my SLwim itself also seems a smidge low
- [12:29] Gigs Taggart: probably impule vs sethover
- [12:29] Cogsworth Linden: hey Sidewinder
- [12:29] Sidewinder Linden: hi cogsworth
- [12:29] Gigs Taggart: SLwim uses a ton of script time, it's probably repeated impulses or something
- [12:29] Gigs Taggart: more lindens than residents now :)
- [12:29] Bato Brendel: yeah well its just as effected for movement as my jira I gotta add that to the list, but thats not this one...
- [12:30] Bato Brendel: but in its hover its alittle low but that is user adjustable, for the surfboard would like to see one and its height in the water, and how its setting it
- [12:30] Bato Brendel: as gigs said '2 different ways'
- [12:31] Aric Linden: the question is "is this worth importing for work internally or is it already known and does it add more info"
- [12:31] Gigs Taggart: if it's known don't you already have an internal number to link it to anyway?
- [12:31] Sidewinder Linden: the hover height issue with floatie things is a known issue, and being talked about
- [12:31] Sidewinder Linden: sorry to have missed the start
- [12:31] Soft Linden: Kelly / Sidewinder - We're working off of [4] - helps to preload a few tabs because pJIRA is so slow.
- [12:31] Sidewinder Linden: thx
- [12:31] Soft Linden: Now at SVC-1980
- [12:31] Aric Linden: ok - is there useful addition info in SVC-1980, Sidewinder?
- [12:32] Celierra Darling: Is it a dupe of an existing PJIRA or is it something that should be just linked to the existing?
- [12:32] Celierra Darling: * internal JIRA?
- [12:32] Sidewinder Linden: hover height is a tricky thing... and i think yesterday or friday andrew had actually found some somewhat contradictory code in havok1 that we're looking at
- [12:32] Aric Linden: spoken just like a linden Celierra - nicely done
- [12:32] Sidewinder Linden: heh
- [12:32] Alexa Linden: lol
- [12:32] Sidewinder Linden: ok so "contradictory code" =
- [12:33] Sidewinder Linden: some things in havok1 don't look like they should work at all in that area
- [12:33] Sidewinder Linden: but before proclaiming that they're wrong we want to undersatnd it better
- [12:33] Celierra Darling: Heh... :P
- [12:33] Sidewinder Linden: better aric? ;)
- [12:33] Alexa Linden: so is there something I can link this to?
- [12:33] Sidewinder Linden: this *may* be an area where we're all going to have to make some hard choices between
- [12:33] Sidewinder Linden: future "right behavior"
- [12:33] Sidewinder Linden: preserving compatibility
- [12:34] Sidewinder Linden: or having some odd variability in existing content
- [12:34] Aric Linden: I'd suggest that we take this in and link it to the internal issue to add to the discussion
- [12:34] Kelly Linden: SVC-1272 is the boats are too low problem
- [12:34] Aric Linden: that ok with all?
- [12:34] Kelly Linden: (which is already imported)
- [12:34] Alexa Linden: would the interal for that one be good to link ours to?
- [12:35] Alexa Linden: internal*
- [12:35] Kelly Linden: We have a 1-1 pjira to internal jira relationship I think.
- [12:35] Sidewinder Linden: if you import as is we'll link it up
- [12:35] Alexa Linden: k
- [12:35] Aric Linden: thanks
- [12:36] Aric Linden: let's go on to SVC-2006
- [12:36] Alexa Linden: did we finish 5946?
- [12:36] Aric Linden: no, but i want to get the main havok stuff done first so that if kelly or sidewinder want to bail, they can
- [12:36] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:37] Kelly Linden: SVC-1213 I think is the one I think we are working off of, and already imported
- [12:37] Sidewinder Linden: rolling over seams is a known open issue, discussed on blog repeatedly
- [12:37] Aric Linden: Spheres bounce when rolling over flat seams in Havok
- [12:37] Kelly Linden: That one is nice because of the pretty pictures and workaround though
- [12:37] Sidewinder Linden: affects vehicles and some games
- [12:37] Sidewinder Linden: hehe
- [12:37] Bato Brendel: 2006 I think sidewinder knows pretty much about this as Im one of the testers for it as well
- [12:37] Aric Linden: let's take it and link it
- [12:37] Aric Linden: as much for the prettiness as anything
- [12:37] Sidewinder Linden: we have others internal like this as well
- [12:37] Aric Linden: good info, i think
- [12:37] Kelly Linden: k
- [12:38] Aric Linden: up to you guys, actually
- [12:38] Aric Linden: you want it?
- [12:38] Aric Linden: or close as dup?
- [12:39] Bato Brendel: btw if anyone can point me to a BBox color mapping of what they represent that would be nice as well like for stuff on 2006
- [12:39] Sidewinder Linden: might as well import it
- [12:39] Sidewinder Linden: we'll scrub internal
- [12:39] Aric Linden: excellent, thanks
- [12:39] Aric Linden: SVC-2005
- [12:39] Sidewinder Linden: some of these have slightly different repros
- [12:39] Kelly Linden: The fix for that is on beta now
- [12:39] Kelly Linden: I commented already on that issue
- [12:40] Aric Linden: ok - let's mark it fixed in an upcoming release and move on
- [12:40] Bato Brendel: yep and kelly if you can read up I did some testing for that today looking good
- [12:40] Kelly Linden: Yeah, I saw that, thanks Bato
- [12:40] Aric Linden: let's skip down to the misc pool for the remaining havok issues
- [12:40] Aric Linden: SVC-1975
- [12:40] Bato Brendel: my concern was I was able to rez more prims then the server allowed
- [12:41] Gigs Taggart: should we mark 2005 fixed internally?
- [12:41] Aric Linden: It will be as soon as it passes QA, gigs
- [12:41] Sidewinder Linden: just trying something for 1975
- [12:41] Sidewinder Linden: hmm i'd say that's ao specific
- [12:41] Sidewinder Linden: jump height here is identical to h1
- [12:42] Gigs Taggart: well it should have the internal number listed or state changed or it'll come up on the next triage agenda again
- [12:42] Aric Linden: ask for more info?
- [12:42] Sidewinder Linden: kelly any thoughts on this?
- [12:42] Sidewinder Linden: there's a basketball region that worked on avatar jumping a lot and i'm pretty sure they were happy with things... so yes i guess more info
- [12:42] Aric Linden: alexa?
- [12:42] Alexa Linden: what should I ask for>
- [12:42] Gigs Taggart: looks about the same to me
- [12:42] Alexa Linden: ?
- [12:43] Aric Linden: comparitive metrics if possible
- [12:43] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:43] Aric Linden: at the very least something non-subjective
- [12:43] Gigs Taggart: His problem might not be the jump, it might be the AO
- [12:43] Aric Linden: right now there's not much for the Havokettes to go on
- [12:43] Gigs Taggart: havok4 broke stuff like hugging AOs for some strange reason
- [12:43] Aric Linden: ask him to test it AO off
- [12:43] Sidewinder Linden: Havokettes????
- [12:43] Sidewinder Linden: ;)
- [12:43] Alexa Linden: lol
- [12:44] Alexa Linden: great new word
- [12:44] Bato Brendel: okay question
- [12:44] Bato Brendel: might not be a matter of heigh
- [12:44] Bato Brendel: might be a matter of how long to get up to jump height and then back to ground
- [12:44] Bato Brendel: in relation to the AO
- [12:44] Aric Linden: agrees with Bato
- [12:44] Aric Linden: we'd still need something concrete to go on
- [12:45] Aric Linden: otherwise we don't have a way of understanding what we're fixing towards
- [12:45] Gigs Taggart: these "highly tweaked" LSL products are going to be really fragile anyway
- [12:45] Sidewinder Linden: or knowing if it's fixed :)
- [12:45] Aric Linden: nods at both gigs and SW
- [12:45] Aric Linden: I believe the same thing is true of SVC-2006
- [12:45] Aric Linden: anyone feel differently?
- [12:46] Gigs Taggart: well being able to hover over water *shouldn't* have been an issue of highly tweaking, but due to LSL limitations..... :P
- [12:46] Gigs Taggart: I suspect those would fall into the category too
- [12:47] Aric Linden: whoops, i meant SVC-2066
- [12:47] Bato Brendel: 2006 is the prim edge and bounding box issues. there is a good amount of repro for that
- [12:47] Gigs Taggart: oh hah we are all confused now :P
- [12:47] Gigs Taggart: I thought he meant the water bug
- [12:47] Aric Linden: needs new glasses
- [12:48] Sidewinder Linden: water bug - the slow fall?
- [12:48] Gigs Taggart: 2066 I can confirm, your avatar goes flying when you hit a ledge now
- [12:48] Gigs Taggart: much more than havok1 which mostly only did that when you were running
- [12:48] Aric Linden: ok - let's import and let the havok crew figure it out
- [12:49] Sidewinder Linden: it would be great to get a landmark - a test location, but sounds like it's recreatable without
- [12:49] Bato Brendel: step rise too high dealio
- [12:49] Bato Brendel: could be triggering something
- [12:49] Alexa Linden: don't fall on me gigs
- [12:49] Sidewinder Linden: also - for any and all of these AO-related issues, it's looking like we need to know specifically which AO they're using, as i'm seeing lots of cases
- [12:49] Sidewinder Linden: where the problem only occurs with a specific AO
- [12:49] Aric Linden: ok
- [12:50] Sidewinder Linden: or with a specific AO and avatar height
- [12:50] Gigs Taggart: it's a little hard to see but I do stumble on this small ledge :P
- [12:50] Sidewinder Linden: or without etc
- [12:50] Aric Linden: let's ask for the AO and some specifics Alexa
- [12:50] Gigs Taggart: in havok1 you sort of skimmed more
- [12:50] Alexa Linden: you know
- [12:50] Alexa Linden: I ran into this this weekend
- [12:50] Bato Brendel: yeah more info def would be a help
- [12:50] Alexa Linden: and wondered what it was
- [12:50] Aric Linden: listens
- [12:50] Steel Halasy: Are you using an AO right now Gigs, or default animations?
- [12:50] Gigs Taggart: default animations
- [12:50] Alexa Linden: it wans a tiny difference in the heighth, like these stairs
- [12:50] Alexa Linden: kept tripping
- [12:50] Sidewinder Linden: hmm
- [12:51] Sidewinder Linden: alexa - if you get a chance could you try on the beta preview? updated code there w/r/t steps
- [12:51] Gigs Taggart: you can see it when walking over a default 0.5 meter cube even, in Havok1 you kinda "glide up over it"
- [12:51] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:51] Gigs Taggart: in havok4 you "stumble"
- [12:51] Sidewinder Linden: right
- [12:51] Sidewinder Linden: there's a fix on the beta preview version
- [12:51] Sidewinder Linden: allowing higher stair heights
- [12:52] Bato Brendel: well what Ive noticed is when you stand at the very edge of a prim your legs get shoved up your bumm. could be related to 2006 and prim edge as well
- [12:52] Sidewinder Linden: apologies - have to jump - see you guys
- [12:52] Harleen Gretzky: tc Sidewinder
- [12:52] Gigs Taggart: bato that's a real old animation system bug
- [12:52] Sidewinder Linden: also fixed recently but not deployed (or so we think ;)
- [12:52] Alexa Linden: bye Sidewinder
- [12:53] Bato Brendel: never seen it before...not in that extreme.. only reason I mentioned it
- [12:53] Alexa Linden: Hey Strife
- [12:53] Strife Onizuka: waves
- [12:53] Gigs Taggart: it seems to happen a little more in H4 bato
- [12:53] Alexa Linden: agrees
- [12:53] Bato Brendel: oh its not a matter of more its consistent now
- [12:53] Gigs Taggart: hehe
- [12:53] Alexa Linden: the difference in heighth I was tripping over was minute
- [12:53] Cogsworth Linden: stife appears to be wearing two different avatars
- [12:53] Alexa Linden: all cat to me
- [12:53] Gigs Taggart: ruthed tiger hehe
- [12:54] Alexa Linden: LOL
- [12:54] Strife Onizuka: should be tiger
- [12:54] Aric Linden: it's the new second life look
- [12:54] Celierra Darling: sees a tiger here too o.o
- [12:54] Alexa Linden: dang - I miss the good stuff
- [12:54] Cogsworth Linden: I see leopard spots too
- [12:54] Kelly Linden: I also need to bail, sorry.
- [12:54] Harleen Gretzky: Looks like a tiger to me
- [12:54] Harleen Gretzky: tc Kelly
- [12:54] Strife Onizuka: ugg
- [12:55] Aric Linden: ok, let's roll back to VWR-5946
- [12:55] Strife Onizuka: (better?)
- [12:55] Alexa Linden: yup
- [12:56] Alexa Linden: WB
- [12:56] Cogsworth Linden: yup
- [12:56] Aric Linden: missing the corn flakes box i'm afraid
- [12:56] Alexa Linden: LMAO
- [12:56] Aric Linden: j/k Strife
- [12:56] Soft Linden: So far, i18n hasn't been taking new publicly submitted translations. We could pass this to them to see if they want to change that...
- [12:56] Gigs Taggart: why not?
- [12:56] Aric Linden: let's take this one in and assign it to Ramzi and let him figure it out
- [12:56] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:57] Aric Linden: we took one, i think, early last year and it caused some probs
- [12:57] Soft Linden: Because we'd need to have someone verify the translations, and then continue to update them.
- [12:57] Gigs Taggart: you should update this page then https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/How_to_Localize_Your_World
- [12:57] Gigs Taggart: to say "we don't want your help"
- [12:58] Aric Linden: I don't think it's that we don't want the help gigs, it's that we're a little bandwidth constrained.
- [12:58] Strife Onizuka: stream the translations
- [12:58] Aric Linden: we're looking for someone to be the product manager for INTL which will improve the conduit and process
- [12:58] Gigs Taggart: a bad and incomplete translation seems better to me than one that never happens.
- [12:59] Aric Linden: will you help do the support for the bad and incomplete translation?
- [12:59] Strife Onizuka: x_x
- [12:59] Gigs Taggart: just call it "unsupported" then
- [12:59] Strife Onizuka: won't help much
- [12:59] Aric Linden: i'll be happy to pass along that suggestion gigs - i'll mention it to the folks involved
- [12:59] Strife Onizuka: people expect perfect behavior of even alpha software
