- [12:00] Alexa Linden: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Bug_triage/Monday_Agenda
- [12:00] Storm Basiat: Hi Soft Linden :)
- [12:00] Youri Ashton: hey soft
- [12:01] Davy Linden: first up ...
- [12:01] Bug Triage: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-17537 - Viewer 2.0 consistenly takes up over 100% CPU usage, degrading performance
- [12:01] Youri Ashton: confirmed, i had the same problem
- [12:01] Youri Ashton: even takes up a duo core
- [12:02] Soft Linden: Anyone know - does Viewer 2 turn on multithreaded texture decodes by default?
- [12:03] Youri Ashton: i didnt have the luck on getting much on 2.0 yet, the damn viewer refuses me most of the time from logging in
- [12:03] Soft Linden: Nope, it's still off by default
- [12:03] Youri Ashton: when it does, it keeps emptying the cache so i can not do much
- [12:03] Soft Linden: Other than shared media, I can't think of a reason for this to be happening
- [12:04] Soft Linden: And the OP confirmed that they're using the same version of top and seeing consistent results going back and forth
- [12:04] Soft Linden: I guess I'd import for the viewer guys to give a response
- [12:04] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:04] Techwolf Lupindo: I havn'g used 2.0 due to still fixing build issues with snowglobe 2.0.
- [12:04] Davy Linden: VWR-17324 looks similar - dupe?
- [12:04] JIRA-helper: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-17324
- [#VWR-17324] Processor Usage Through the Roof on 2.0 Beta
- [12:04] Soft Linden: That last one may be expected with more threading, but confirmation would be great
- [12:04] Youri Ashton: looks like it davy
- [12:05] Youri Ashton: link?
- [12:05] Soft Linden: Yeah, looks like it
- [12:05] Davy Linden: and that looks like it's already being fixed... so link / resolve/dupe?
- [12:06] Youri Ashton: think making sure it is on the way may be best
- [12:06] Youri Ashton: and link them of course
- [12:06] Bug Triage: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-17348 - SL 2.0 "blue menus" missing
- [12:07] Soft Linden: Yeah, Davy - per the last comment from Tofu in that JIRA
- [12:07] Soft Linden: So I'd link the other, resolve it as a dupe
- [12:07] Youri Ashton: didnt these change to bottom right in green?
- [12:07] Youri Ashton: or grayish...
- [12:08] Soft Linden: This is expected behavior, as written.
- [12:08] Youri Ashton: thinking the same
- [12:08] Drew Dwi: feature request?
- [12:08] Youri Ashton: no, its espected
- [12:08] Soft Linden: The usability bugs that introduced should be separate issues
- [12:08] Davy Linden: I'd like to see specific behavior identified in a FR
- [12:08] Youri Ashton: blue screens were changed for 2.0 like the most was
- [12:08] Davy Linden: excatly WHY it's "impossible"
- [12:08] Alexa Linden: EB then?
- [12:08] Soft Linden: Yeah
- [12:09] Alexa Linden: kk
- [12:09] Soft Linden: And encourage them to make specific suggestions on improving it as other JIRAs
- [12:09] Youri Ashton: as i said before, it may be handy to "switch" between 1.23 and 2.0 skins
- [12:09] Youri Ashton: making people choose what they like best
- [12:09] Bug Triage: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-17094 - Advanced > UI > Use Default System Color Picker missing in Viewer 2.0
- [12:09] Soft Linden: We don't have enough engineers to do that without stopping other work.
- [12:09] Youri Ashton: i know, lots of extra work, but it may solve that issue as well
- [12:10] Youri Ashton: dupe
- [12:10] Liisa Runo: hire more engineers, it cant be about money
- [12:10] Liisa Runo: hire more to all sectors
- [12:10] Soft Linden: I wonder why this was removed
- [12:10] Davy Linden: we triaged this last week (wed)
- [12:10] Youri Ashton: last thursday we had a similar one
- [12:10] Soft Linden: Liisa, if you've got that money...
- [12:10] Alexa Linden: had this last week
- [12:10] Alexa Linden: nmi
- [12:10] Liisa Runo: i dont but anyone with calculator can figure out how much profit LL makes/ year alone from tier
- [12:11] Bug Triage: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/MISC-4074 - Adult filter has censored my name from search
- [12:11] Youri Ashton: Liisa, LL doesnt want you to know that part ;)
- [12:11] Soft Linden: I think I'd leave the last open as a feature request, just punch the date on it
- [12:11] Tillie Ariantho: lol
- [12:11] Soft Linden: Can see if there are enough votes from people who want it back without using the debug settings
- [12:11] Techwolf Lupindo: That is discrimating. horney and yiff are the same thing.
- [12:12] Tillie Ariantho: Dont tell me yiffy is censored... :P
- [12:12] Soft Linden: This is really silly :3
- [12:12] Soft Linden: Yeah, import this please.
- [12:12] Youri Ashton: i think i rather stay out of that one! :p
- [12:12] Alexa Linden: k
- [12:12] Bug Triage: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-18884 - using extreem amounts of bandwidth - streaming audio
- [12:12] Soft Linden: If we're search-blocking something that sounds like a fox sneeze...
- [12:12] Youri Ashton: its not for us, but support anyways
- [12:12] Tillie Ariantho: If I say 'black' is the new 'porn' and spread it in a community so it is wide used, do you then put 'black' into the filter, too? ^^
- [12:13] Soft Linden: Weird... this makes it look like all the instances are still streaming, even out of range?
- [12:14] Soft Linden: The reporter says someone else is having the problem - I think it should be NMI, asking for that person, or that person's settings file
- [12:14] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:14] Bug Triage: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-17087 - Plugin "media_plugin_webkit" crash due to Avira AntiVir WebGuard
- [12:14] Youri Ashton: NMI
- [12:15] Youri Ashton: turn off the firewall and virusscanner would work
- [12:15] Soft Linden: Looks like upgrading to Flash 10 fixed it for them
- [12:15] Youri Ashton: it isnt like you going to bad websites while on SL
- [12:16] Soft Linden: Sounds like an interaction between Flash and that virus scanner
- [12:16] Alexa Linden: Fixed then
- [12:16] Youri Ashton: true soft
- [12:16] Alexa Linden: still a problem?
- [12:16] Soft Linden: Yeah, I'd NMI, asking if anyone has the problem after upgrading to Flash 10
- [12:16] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:16] Youri Ashton: problem with people is that they think SL websites are also causing problems
- [12:16] Youri Ashton: so they leave their junk on
- [12:16] Bug Triage: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-17290 - Streaming Media Errors in Viewer 2.0
- [12:16] Youri Ashton: turning it off will solve it
- [12:16] Youri Ashton: and updates usually do as well
- [12:17] Youri Ashton: think that counts for this one as well then
- [12:17] Youri Ashton: update drivers
- [12:17] Tillie Ariantho: Uhm, Youri, people do not only do SL, they browse in the background or read email, so switching off the virus scanner because "SL is secure" is no good.
- [12:17] Liisa Runo: and SL is not secure with v2 and MOAP
- [12:17] Soft Linden: I'd import this, and note that there are repro video links in the comments
- [12:17] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:17] Youri Ashton: SL and browsing doesnt really go together due both parties using too much.
- [12:18] Bug Triage: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-17352 - Return build button to screen
- [12:18] Youri Ashton: specially if you have hotmail/MSN on
- [12:18] Soft Linden: Feature request, not a bug, but yeah.
- [12:18] Davy Linden: +1
- [12:18] Alexa Linden: yup
- [12:18] Alexa Linden: moving...
- [12:18] Davy Linden: it can even be optional (off by default) so as not to confuse new resis
- [12:18] Youri Ashton: feature request
- [12:18] Soft Linden: I'm surprised it only has 9 votes. I've heard more than that complain to me directly
- [12:19] Alexa Linden: me too
- [12:19] Soft Linden: Is there another issue people are voting on?
- [12:19] Tillie Ariantho: I guess many people gave up on voting.
- [12:19] Youri Ashton: it is a bad design flaw indeed
- [12:19] Drew Dwi: looking for dups
- [12:19] Youri Ashton: but doesnt mean it is a bug
- [12:19] Alexa Linden: thanks drew!
- [12:19] Bug Triage: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-18792 - Listing disappears in "search" when more than one maturity rating is check marked
- [12:19] Youri Ashton: its a feature request
- [12:20] Soft Linden: Giving up on voting would be silly. Not every high vote getter gets done, but most every viewer release has a list of many, many JIRA-sourced issues
- [12:20] Liisa Runo: im not suprised, many people just gave up and wait for v3
- [12:20] Soft Linden: I'm not finding a dupe on this
- [12:20] Tillie Ariantho: The 'more than 25 groups' jira has 1000+ votes for years, and nothing changed. :P
- [12:20] Youri Ashton: emerald is NOT part of the official viewers
- [12:21] Liisa Runo: or maybe people voted on the fist jira, these area ll dupes of jira's made several months ago
- [12:21] Youri Ashton: so think this is not our thing to find out
- [12:21] Drew Dwi: I think there is no dupe because most voted on VWR-17130 (for build button) over 100 votes there
- [12:21] JIRA-helper: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-17130
- [#VWR-17130] "Build" missing from contexural menu when clicking prims.
- [12:21] Tillie Ariantho: yah, what you see it edit.
- [12:21] Tillie Ariantho: sure you can 'build' from there then, too.
- [12:21] Tillie Ariantho: But its confusing. :P
- [12:22] Soft Linden: Oh, now that's obnoxious...
- [12:22] Soft Linden: The Build turns into Edit, but only after a couple frames. It taunts you.
- [12:22] Tillie Ariantho: yup
- [12:22] Alexa Linden: yup
- [12:22] Soft Linden: That's right, we got this one last week, I think?
- [12:22] Alexa Linden: and it's a pain if your building on top of another prim
- [12:22] Tillie Ariantho: yup
- [12:22] Youri Ashton: that whole menu is confusing, so i think it could get easier to use in general
- [12:22] Liisa Runo: and 2 months ago too, and ever since, over and over again
- [12:23] Davy Linden: we're on ...
- [12:23] Bug Triage: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-18792 - Listing disappears in "search" when more than one maturity rating is check marked
- [12:24] Youri Ashton: pictures show emerald, not 2.0
- [12:24] Youri Ashton: so as i said, not our job to solve
- [12:24] Tillie Ariantho: left side emerald, right side viewer 2
- [12:24] Soft Linden: In the writeup, they say it's the same with 1.x
- [12:24] Soft Linden: But that the bug is in 2.x , 1.x and Emerald show the correct behavior?
- [12:24] Davy Linden: it's reporting a bug in v2, youri
- [12:24] Youri Ashton: think its server side problem rather
- [12:24] Tillie Ariantho: Its comparing the output of emerald and v2.
- [12:25] Youri Ashton: i remember a similar problem on 1.23
- [12:25] Drew Dwi: this is a search thing, not a viewer thing
- [12:25] Soft Linden: This should be imported
- [12:25] Soft Linden: And yeah, it's a 2.0 problem - repros pretty easily
- [12:25] Alexa Linden: k
- [12:25] Alexa Linden: import we go
- [12:25] Bug Triage: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-17250 - Viewer 2 Beta causes heat spike and shut off
- [12:25] Youri Ashton: let the server people look at it, think thats the shortest wat
- [12:25] Youri Ashton: way*
- [12:25] Soft Linden: If the search dialog is to believed, about 11,000 hits disappear from "hair" when other checkboxes are added.
- [12:26] Youri Ashton: its the ATI drivers\
- [12:26] Youri Ashton: i got the same problem on my PC
- [12:26] JIRA-helper: [#SVC-2833] More than 25 groups!
- [12:26] Youri Ashton: latest drivers cause this problems
- [12:26] Drew Dwi: this seems to be an ATI thing
- [12:26] Soft Linden: This is Mac, people can't trivially replace the drivers
- [12:26] Drew Dwi: yea very specific to ATI Radeon X1600 OpenGL Engine
- [12:27] Youri Ashton: ill add my stuff to that one
- [12:27] Drew Dwi: this is macbook pro with the ati card, should be easy to repro
- [12:27] Drew Dwi: assuming hardware is avalible
- [12:28] Tillie Ariantho: Too bad ATI drivers are so bad. :-( I have a 5850 lying around here. :-/
- [12:28] Soft Linden: If we've really got all the texture handling in its own thread, heavier GPU use wouldn't be surprising...
- [12:28] Youri Ashton: done
- [12:28] Soft Linden: I'd take this in to see if the graphics guys can suggest anything changing about the way the GPU's used
- [12:29] Soft Linden: Really, if it's overheating that's a hardware issue in any case. But it's still something they should know about, possibly comment on
- [12:29] Techwolf Lupindo: Heaver use for decoding, but what about after all the work is done? Is it still overheating?
- [12:29] Youri Ashton: SVC-2833 = feature request?
- [12:29] Youri Ashton: looks to me like one at least...
- [12:30] Drew Dwi: that is real old Youri
- [12:30] Youri Ashton: true, but it keeps popping up it seems
- [12:30] Drew Dwi: isn't going to change that it won't happen ;)
- [12:30] Youri Ashton: latest entry: 11/Apr/10 12:53 AM
- [12:30] Youri Ashton: didnt say it should drew :p
- [12:30] Davy Linden: youri, can we stick to the agenda, please. We're on VWR-17250
- [12:31] Youri Ashton: oh i just noticed the link here, sorry
- [12:31] Davy Linden: did you want to import, soft?
- [12:31] Alexa Linden: yes thanks Davy
- [12:31] Soft Linden: I'd import just to get comment from the graphics guys, yeah.
- [12:31] Alexa Linden: ok will do
- [12:31] Soft Linden: But really - if it's shutting down, that's a problem with the OS and/or hardware
- [12:31] Youri Ashton: that VWR-17250 is as i said, ATI driver related
- [12:31] Bug Triage: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-18538 - Inventory Notifications In Open IM Windows Create Risk Of Unintentional Violation Of Privacy In Viewer 2.0 Beta
- [12:32] Youri Ashton: NOT SL related
- [12:32] Soft Linden: There's absolutely nothing that a userland application should be able to do that causes overheating.
- [12:32] Techwolf Lupindo: Not if the software is streassing it beyound anything else.
- [12:32] Youri Ashton: soft, i have the same problem on a PC that is plugged
- [12:32] Soft Linden: If the OS isn't throttling performance when the CPU heats up, then the OS is defective.
- [12:32] Drew Dwi: hmm
- [12:32] Soft Linden: Or the hardware sensors are defective
- [12:33] Youri Ashton: screen goes black, but i do see HUD attachements, UI and propperty lines!
- [12:33] Drew Dwi: for the privacy one, I think the bug is more about inventory offer stealing focus
- [12:33] Youri Ashton: also lag spikes up big time
- [12:33] Youri Ashton: its only ATI drivers, ATI card users need to wait till new update and pray
- [12:33] Davy Linden: agreed, drew. "Inventory offers should not steal focus" would be better?
- [12:33] Drew Dwi: the title/theme of it is misguided
- [12:33] Soft Linden: +1 that, Davy
- [12:33] Drew Dwi: yes that is what I was thinking, should re-name summary
- [12:33] Alexa Linden: agreed, renames and import of not aready there?
- [12:34] Alexa Linden: or tie to esxisting
- [12:34] Drew Dwi: i'm looking for dupe now
- [12:34] Alexa Linden: ty drew
- [12:34] Bug Triage: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-18220 - Random SEVERE frame rate problem
- [12:35] Drew Dwi: I don't see any dupes
- [12:35] Davy Linden: ty drew
- [12:35] Alexa Linden: thanks drew :)
- [12:35] Alexa Linden: I'll import then
- [12:35] Youri Ashton: not sure about this last one
- [12:35] Drew Dwi: this has to do with MoaP
- [12:36] Drew Dwi: and fetching the page
- [12:36] Drew Dwi: we hit this issue awhile back I remember Zai was trying to pin it down
- [12:36] Youri Ashton: could be that clearing the cache and a reboot may do the trick
- [12:36] Youri Ashton: but could aswell do nothing...
- [12:36] Tillie Ariantho: I have seen in debug console that sometimes when you turn around to see new stuff, the cache gets purged a LOT. I see TONS of errors, where 'missing textures' cant get removed. Last time this lasted like 20 seconds ... heavy harddisc usage ... that made the FPS drop too, surely. ^^
- [12:36] Drew Dwi: I guess the question is, when they are panning around are they hitting any media enabled prims
- [12:37] Tillie Ariantho: Or they hit a cache limit and the purging task is run.
- [12:37] Ardy Lay: VBO Rebuilt?
- [12:38] Soft Linden: yay interruptions
- [12:38] Tillie Ariantho: Did M Linden hand you a bonus? ;P
- [12:38] Soft Linden: Ha, would be nice!
- [12:39] Alexa Linden: lol tillie :p
- [12:39] Alexa Linden: hahaha
- [12:39] Youri Ashton: ugh, forgot almost my tea once again... o_0
- [12:39] Soft Linden: So, the screenshot has a nice breakdown of an expanded frame analysis
- [12:39] Soft Linden: I'd import it and note that there's good detail in attached snapshots
- [12:39] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:39] Bug Triage: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-17351 - Placement of importing images, sounds, animations
- [12:40] Tillie Ariantho: Where we are talking about snapshots... ^^ Will there ever be any fixes? Or would it be wise to close all jiras about them and redo them for client 2.0? ^^
- [12:40] Youri Ashton: okay... thats a hell lot of info to read! :p
- [12:40] Drew Dwi: this is a FR?
- [12:41] Soft Linden: Feature request to move it, but yeah.
- [12:41] Drew Dwi: add import/upload to Build menu
- [12:41] Drew Dwi: basicly
- [12:41] Liisa Runo: (offtopic: someone update http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/GTeam )
- [12:41] Soft Linden: Honestly, I wish there were still a file menu. It's just something all apps have.
- [12:42] Soft Linden: So maybe that would make an okay feature request too
- [12:42] Tillie Ariantho: I dont need not file menu. File/Quit is the silliest placement ever.
- [12:42] Tillie Ariantho: Okay, only Start/Shutdown is more silly. :P
- [12:42] Soft Linden: Yeah, but it's kinda convention
- [12:42] Ardy Lay: Even on apps that don't appear to have a file menu, hitting alt-F tend to make one appear.
- [12:42] Soft Linden: I'd counter that Me->Quit is about as silly as File->Quit :)
- [12:43] Ardy Lay: Me > Quit sounds like "and don't come back".
- [12:43] Tillie Ariantho: And I think it is not a convention but a common mis-placement. ^^
- [12:43] Ardy Lay: "Logout" might seem less terminal.
- [12:43] Tillie Ariantho: Yah, rename to Logout. :)
- [12:43] Davy Linden: I think that's already been suiggested
- [12:44] Soft Linden: Anyway. Yeah, feature request, and maybe wait for enough votes to convince the UI folks?
- [12:44] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:44] Bug Triage: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-16983 - Viewer 2.0 Doesnt Create Crashlogs!
- [12:44] Techwolf Lupindo: That not a bug, its a feature. :-)
- [12:45] Tillie Ariantho: What
- [12:45] Davy Linden: NMI/ask if it's still a problem with release build
- [12:45] Soft Linden: Can't repro on this, pretty sure. We're definitely receiving crash logs
- [12:45] Drew Dwi: yea, they didn't give their build info either, but this is old
- [12:45] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:45] Tillie Ariantho: You mean 2.0 doesnt crash, it only quits unexpected. :P
- [12:45] Alexa Linden: nmi asking for more info and update
- [12:45] Bug Triage: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-17461 - Search produces Authorization Token Missing
- [12:45] Youri Ashton: feb 2010, not that old
- [12:46] Drew Dwi: this is known I think
- [12:46] Tillie Ariantho: Search failed for me greatly yesterday. the "ALL" tab was searching foreaver, only a restart fixed it.
- [12:46] Drew Dwi: there was a change in how cookies were handled in the last release?
- [12:46] SL Status: [REMINDER] Support Portal Maintenance, April 13th
- [12:47] Soft Linden: This happens if Preferences->Setup->Accept cookies is unchecked
- [12:47] Youri Ashton: lol, that message doesnt popup anymore in a regular blue/gray window???
- [12:47] Soft Linden: That's a bug. We shouldn't have a configuration option if it even breaks our own pages.
- [12:47] Soft Linden: I'd import this for the media team
- [12:47] Youri Ashton: I mean this one: [12:46] SL Status: [REMINDER] Support Portal Maintenance, April 13th
- [12:48] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:48] Soft Linden: It should allow cookies on search, or search shouldn't require them
- [12:48] Tillie Ariantho: Nyx or someone said cookie handling is more secure now.
- [12:48] Youri Ashton: yes he did indeed tillie
- [12:48] Soft Linden: The cookie change was to make cookies per-user so people didn't use cookies to help discover alts.
- [12:48] Tillie Ariantho: Cookie jar protection.
- [12:48] Drew Dwi: cookies arn't shared between accounts
- [12:48] Drew Dwi: yea
- [12:48] Youri Ashton: cookies are hoever never 100% save
- [12:48] Soft Linden: That was the outcome of one of my paranoid privacy rants
- [12:49] Soft LindenSoft Linden shakefist - "At some point, they do it just to make me go away!"
- [12:49] Davy Linden: hehe
- [12:49] Alexa Linden: this already exists internally
- [12:49] Alexa Linden: so I'll tie together
- [12:49] Soft Linden: Cool
- [12:49] Bug Triage: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-17813 - ATI RADEON 4870 - Colors? Textures? OpenGL? - Need HELP
- [12:50] Youri Ashton: driver problem
- [12:51] Youri Ashton: think its the problem i solved last year, similar to this
- [12:51] Soft Linden: Contact support on this, I think
- [12:51] Youri Ashton: OpenGL vertex buffer objects seem to be broken again for ATI drivers
- [12:51] Tillie ArianthoTillie Ariantho thinks this is the right rant box for Soft. ^^
- [12:51] Soft Linden: If it's a specific card/drier, they should know all about it
- [12:51] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:51] Soft Linden: Ha!
- [12:51] Youri Ashton: could be part of the problems that causes the black screens
- [12:51] Drew Dwi: yea, looks specific
- [12:52] Drew Dwi: to that model
- [12:52] Bug Triage: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-18273 - massive inventory loss
- [12:52] Davy Linden: contact support
- [12:52] Youri Ashton: and please, do check it this time and dont make me do all the work again like last time :p
- [12:52] Alexa Linden: yup
- [12:52] Drew Dwi: this has become a edit war to a degree
- [12:53] Drew Dwi: I think I gave up on them awhile back
- [12:53] Drew Dwi: ^^
- [12:53] Drew Dwi: Argus Collingwood basicly took this issue to be his vent platform on loosing stuff
- [12:53] Bug Triage: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-17595 - Viewer 2 randomly resets computer or crashes to desktop
- [12:54] Youri Ashton: lost inventory: contact support, best option
- [12:55] Drew Dwi: hmm
