Overview
Welcome to the Ridgewood Enclave Commercial District!
These stylish regions are designed with merchants and creators in mind, with modern, ready-to-use commercial buildings in multiple designs available for Premium Plus members to set up shop on the Bellisseria continent. These exclusive areas are the only place on the Bellisseria continent where commercial activity is allowed, and the use of a commercial building during a Premium Plus membership comes at no additional setup or ongoing monthly fee (just like a Linden Home).
Commercial District properties are a standard size of 1024 square meters and come in two parcel shapes -- a square 32m x 32m parcel or a rectangular 16m x 64m parcel, and each of the different building designs is available on each shape of parcel.
Getting Started
Unlike standard residential Linden Homes, Ridgewood Enclave Commercial District properties are selected in-world by visiting the commercial district regions and locating a place you'd like to set up shop.
Once you've found the commercial building you'd like:
- On the building, look for an Available sign.
- Click the Available sign; the land will be set For Sale to you for L$0.
- While standing on the property, click World > About Land.
- On the General tab of the About Land window, click Buy Land to purchase the property.
- Be sure to review the popup window closely, as it includes the covenant for commercial properties -- specific rules and guidelines for the commercial district, including rules and guidelines for signage and decor outside of commercial buildings
- Ridgewood Enclave Commercial District properties do not count towards your land allowance limits and are free of any extra land fees; they are included with your Premium Plus membership at no extra cost.
- No part of a Ridgewood Enclave Commercial District property may be used for residential purposes, and no security systems can be set to eject people instantly from the store (though you may ban or eject specific people individually)
- Stores must be set-up and operational within 7 days of acquisition of parcel.
- The name of your parcel must be the same as the name of your store.
Please note, you must have an active Premium Plus membership to select a commercial property. Residents may own only one commercial property in the Commercial District at a time -- if you'd like to switch to a different location, you must release (abandon) your currently owned commercial property before selecting a new one. (Sorry for the trouble!)

Commercial District Building Styles
The commercial regions offer seven unique external building styles (Cityview, Vault, Edgeworks, Bridgecrest, Seamstone, Overlook, and Gridline), all situated on 1024sqm parcels. When you buy a commercial parcel, you have exclusive use of the building that comes with it.
Unlike residential Linden Homes, these buildings are all permanent structures, and cannot be removed or replaced using a house controller or rezzer. However, each of the seven building styles is available on either a square 32 m x 32 m structure or a narrow rectangular one that measures 16 m x 64 m. There are therefore 14 unique building models to choose from. When you're looking for a new property for your shop, keep in mind the building's style as well as its layout and location to make sure it suits your needs.
Customizing Your Commercial Property
Commercial property buildings come with both an Inside and an Outside controller, which lets the owner and anyone they've specifically added to the inner control panel's Access list change certain features of the building.
The Outside controller (near the front door) has options to alter certain decorative elements on the inside of the building -- please wait outside for at least 30 seconds while the decorations load before entering. The Outside controller can also be used to receive a Content Kit featuring free furniture and lighting designed for your building's interior, along with texture and tint options to help you match your building's design with newly created objects if you wish.
The Inside controller is located just to the right after entering the building through the front door, and can be used to adjust the coloring of the walls and central light feature, as well as to add individuals to the panel's Access list. This will let those individuals make changes to the store as well (such as adjusting the coloring), so be careful when granting panel access. Non-owners with panel Access cannot change access settings for themselves or others, or otherwise alter the parcel itself -- they can only access the controllers.
Ridgewood Enclave Commercial District Covenant
All Residents who acquire a commercial district property agree to the specific covenant for the commercial district at the time of purchase. To view the most up to date version of the covenant, click World > About Land > Covenant while standing on a parcel in a commercial district region.
As of March 2026, the covenant is as follows:
Welcome to Linden Homes Commercial. Linden Homes Commercial is a residential/commercial community, located on the Bellisseria continent, owned and managed by Linden Lab.
The purpose of Linden Homes Commercial is to provide an opportunity for Premium Plus account Residents of the Second Life virtual world to quickly own a business and belong to a community of businesses. Linden Homes are available to Premium Plus account holders and subject to availability.
As a Premium Plus Account holder, you are eligible for live chat and ticket support from our Support Portal. If you need support for your Linden Home Commercial parcel:
- Go to https://support.secondlife.com/ and submit a ticket.
- Select the Land and Region ticket type.
- Under the resulting dropdown, select Linden Homes.
Linden Homes Commercial is governed by this Covenant, Linden Home Terms and Conditions, Terms of Service (TOS), and Community Standards (CS): http://secondlife.com/corporate/tos.php
Linden Home Restrictions (Commercial)
Linden Homes Commercial has unique restrictions in addition to those outlined in the Linden Home Terms and Conditions. By accepting a Linden Home Commercial store, you agree to additional restrictions as follows:
- Your parcel must be named the same as the name of your store/brand.
- Land cannot be terraformed, sold, subleased or rented, deeded to group, joined, or divided. Land can only be set to a group.
- Land cannot be restricted to group access only.
- Land cannot contain temp-rezzers (objects that continuously rerez objects set to temporary to simulate permanence) or individual prims beyond the allocated size of the Second Life Viewer build tools. (64,64,64).
- Your store must be used as a retail-style mercantile type commercial business open to the public.
- Stores must be visibly set up and offering items or services for sale within 7 days of parcel acquisition. Empty or placeholder builds are not permitted.
- Using a store parcel as a personal or private residence is prohibited.
- Event based businesses are not permitted, for example nightclubs.
- Your store must be in the building provided and not in a skybox. Modification of the building itself beyond what is built into the controls is not possible.
- All content must remain within the confines of the store, with the exception of:
- One branding sign placed on the front of the store.
- The ground area in front of your store may be used for limited decorative items that complement the building style. Decorations must be non-commercial, low-density, and not obstruct walkways, sightlines, or neighboring parcels.
- Build platforms are only allowed above 2000m to keep the skies clear of physical/visual obstructions and casting ground shadows.
- Vending, items for sale, or additional signage, are not permitted outside of the store.
- Making modifications to the appearance of the exterior of the building, extending the building, covering the roof, or adding any objects to the top of the roof is not allowed.
- Exterior walls or fences are not allowed.
- Parcels cannot be used as sandboxes.
- Ownership is limited to one per Premium Plus Account and subject to availability.
- The exterior must visually align with the architectural style, scale, and color palette of the provided building model. Content that is visually disruptive, excessively bright, animated, or inconsistent with the theme aesthetic may be removed.
- Using prims or objects on parcels meant as advertisements on the world map is not allowed.
- Lights, sounds, or particles on your parcel should not extend into your neighbors parcels.
- Hovertext should never be visible from outside your parcel.
- Scripted objects may not spam residents outside of your parcel.
- Off parcel decorations extending from your parcel into public areas are not allowed.
- Advertisements on the exterior sides or back of your building are not allowed.
- Activities and/or displaying items that could be construed by Linden Lab as political campaigning is not permitted.
- Changes cannot be made to roads, paths, plants, trees, rocks and other landscaping. Trees or other objects that overhang into parcels are meant to do so. They cannot be moved or removed.
- Objects that severely degrade region performance and/or that use a disproportionate amount of system resources (e.g. excessive script usage, physical collisions) can be returned without warning or notice.
- Store parcels cannot be used for production of pets, breedables or consumable products.
- Linden Home regions are Moderate rated regions. Please see the http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Adult_Content_FAQ regarding adult content and behavior.
- Any items that do not follow this Covenant may be returned without warning or notice at the discretion of a representative of Linden Lab.
Seasonal & Holiday Content
- Seasonal and holiday decorations are permitted as long as they are tastefully applied.
- Outdoor holiday decorations should be in accordance with the holiday season (no Christmas decorations in May or Halloween decor in April for example).
- Remember to keep all seasonal and holiday decorations within the borders of your parcel and ensure that no content extends over the parcel lines.
- Decoration should not be placed out any earlier than 30 days in advance of any holiday or season represented and should be removed within 15 days of the holiday or season passing.
Security
- Linden Home Commercial Stores must accommodate the public. You can still personally eject and ban people manually by name at your discretion at any time for whatever reason, but security devices may not automatically remove people indiscriminately from your store parcel.
