This long-awaited project replaces the aging LLQTWebKit system used in the Web media plugin with a shiny new one based on the Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF) that supports modern web technologies. In fact, we think this is such a big deal that we're cranking the Viewer version number to 4.0.0.
Note: Linux users who have not accepted the terms of service will need to go to my.secondlife.com to accept them on the web before logging in. CEF will not currently work on Linux, though the viewer will continue to function.
To use Flash content, you will need to install the compatible version of the Flash plugin as described here. Note that creating new Flash content is not recommended.
On Windows, some secondlife: urls resolve very slowly - we are aware of the problem and are working on it.
Some web content that expects to respond to double click will work and some may not; you must disable the double click actions to control movement, however.
Some HTML drop-down menus will work, some may not. This is a general problem with the CEF system; we have attempted to work around it, but recommend that you replace HTML form dropdowns with CSS-based solutions - they work well.
