Template talk:HoverText
Whether or not it could be considered a good idea to do this - How would one change this Template to show the hover text for longer? I am interested in 1) It lasting longer (I think I am a little dyslexic) & 2) How this would be achieved (a breakdown of the way the Template code functions in this respect). -- Eddy (talk|contribs) 19:31, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
- Hm... It's HTML. A title parameter in a <span> tag. I think the duration of the title is determined by the browser you're using. I don't think there's a chance to make it last longer without something that's more powerful than HTML... But I'm not an expert.

Thanx Zai. I never got far enough with HTML to recognize that. It is a shame it can't be forced to last longer cause I have to keep re-hovering to finish the reading with some. Oh well. -- Eddy (talk|contribs) 19:51, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah it's driven me nuts for a long time too. But I found a solution in a firefox extension: [1] -- Strife (talk|contribs) 08:21, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Hey there Strife. Thanx for that. Only problem for me is to avoid spam I use Google chrome (I have never got a single spam ad with it in months of use (not one!!) whereas I used to get spammed every few minutes with both IE and Firefox). But from what you and Zai are saying the hovertext is not in the wiki but in my viewer/browser thingy. So even if I haven't got a solution I have learned something new about computers. Thanx (hehehe) -- Eddy (talk|contribs) 08:29, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- Adblock+ is your friend. As for Google Chrome, you should submit a bug report. -- Strife (talk|contribs) 09:58, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Are you saying Chrome is bad? I dunno what I'm doing! I just make stuff up as I go along. All the while it's working I am not going to fix it. Thanx for the adblocker link though (just in case I have to go back to another browser) -- Eddy (talk|contribs) 10:07, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
I think the wiki is broken. I got an email telling me you said something and can read it as the last revision in history but (I have cleared cookies and cache etc) your edit does not show on the page. I wouldn't know how to customize a browser btw. It took me two or three hours to download and install microsoft's media (screen capture) thingy the other day and a further hour to find it once it was installed. I'm amazed I can write scripts cause I can't even find 1/2 the files on my PC let alone use them. -- Eddy (talk|contribs) 19:19, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- Not at all, just that you needn't suffer when using FireFox. The block list that Google Chrome uses to zap ads is the same that Adblock+ uses. I'm holding out moving over to Google Chrome until they have extensions (a browser I can't customize isn't of any interest to me). -- Strife (talk|contribs) 21:14, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
