I am one of the co founders of Educators Coop residential community. Our vision for the community is to provide eligible educators and researchers a simple and easy way to feel at home in an SL community and to begin exploring, collaborating, teaching, and conducting research in Second Life more easily and seamlessly.

The heart of our effort is building a real community that provides educators with a unique cooperative residential environment in SL offering opportunities for creating meaningful new relationships and collaborations. Residents enjoy these benefits and share in the responsibility for cultivating and supporting a community spirit.

It seems that everywhere in SL, as in RL, there are bureaucracies that have numerous rules and meaningless complex structures that only inhibit creativity and spontaneity which are a few of the more important aspects of teaching and learning. What we have developed in the Educators Coop is a space where each of us can work, teach, and learn in a collaborative atmosphere of creative freedom.
