Torley Linden: Oh my goodness gracious!
Torley Linden: Friendly greetings!
Torley Linden: =D
AIste Boa: hey torley ^^
Laetizia Coronet: hey Torley... quiet here
Dedalus Lunardi: Hello
Torley Linden: Heyhey!
Psyra Extraordinaire: G'morning g'morning. :>
Redmond Boa: hey torley
Chase Marellan: Morning Torley, all
Dedalus Lunardi: A big hello from the biggest italian watermeln's fan!!!!
Torley Linden: Good to see you all... Alste, Laetizia, Dedalus, Psyra, Redmond, Chase, all!
Torley Linden: Awww that's so nice of you Dedalus!
Laetizia Coronet: Torley may I kick off with a plea?
Dedalus Lunardi: I'm the greater fan! LOL
Torley Linden: I was out exploring some Italian regions the other day... but if you have any particular faves, feel free to send me landmarks.
AIste Boa: it Aiste lol but its okay hihi
Torley Linden: Laetizia, sure, we might as well!
Dedalus Lunardi: Oh, ok. Sure
Torley Linden: AIste, sorry!
Psyra Extraordinaire: Drat. Still not chair-combatible. :D
Laetizia Coronet: I am using the release client and it lacks the featre to sign on where you want
Laetizia Coronet: to log in I mean
Torley Linden: Hmmm... does it?
Laetizia Coronet: Mentors need that sometimes to help people
Torley Linden: It's not under Preferences > General tab?
Torley Linden: You need to check "Show Start Location on Login Screen".
AIste Boa: hihi no problem i made the first mistake to make a big i when i made my profile
Psyra Extraordinaire: Mmmmm, the world is so much better with RenderGlow and RenderDynamicReflections on all the time. :D
Laetizia Coronet: no Tor, I mean in the first window you see before logging on
Torley Linden: Hmmm... I'm not sure (yet) which window you're referring to Laetizia?
Torley Linden: Haha Psyra, ahhh eye candy.
Laetizia Coronet: before you log on!
Laetizia Coronet: Whith the pictre and the number of residents etc
Laetizia Coronet: and the blog listings
Torley Linden: OK... that's the splash screen... yup...
Torley Linden: So why doesn't "Show Start Location on Login Screen" work?
Torley Linden: Checking that should make a box show that lets you enter region before logging in.
Laetizia Coronet: what, there is such a funct5ion? I thought it was default
Torley Linden: No, it's not default.
Laetizia Coronet: duh
Torley Linden: It has to be turned on optionally.
Laetizia Coronet: that's too bad - more 'splainin to do before I can help someone :)
Torley Linden: Yeah I agree it'd be easier to just show it...
Laetizia Coronet: I thought the function got scrapped and it really is a major tool
Patchouli Woollahra: Something very interesting just happened in Mohrr.
Torley Linden: but it's not needed generally unless someone's having login problems or wants to control their point of entry.
Chase Marellan: What's that?
Torley Linden: What is that, Patchouli?
Psyra Extraordinaire: In a void sim? I see no one there. c.c
Laetizia Coronet: you can't help someone on Help Island Public which is unstable as heck
Patchouli Woollahra: Some crazy nyut named Harbl Burger rezzed tons of Tose.cx spinners and particle rezzers.
Laetizia Coronet: well... abuse report them
Psyra Extraordinaire: Hmmm, afaik those zones do have autoreturn.... usually
Patchouli Woollahra: just did, but not before they disappeared.
Patchouli Woollahra: Where has the respect gone?
Torley Linden: I hope our I-World Team has been notified about that.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Polluting our oceans.... hmph!
Laetizia Coronet: was there evr any? Yesterday we had them in at least 30 sims
Entering god mode, level 200
Patchouli Woollahra: OIh, I have. I wish I didn't have to, but I have.
Patchouli Woollahra: Laetizia, ask the 2003 Lindens.
Torley Linden: Openspaces (void regions with all water) should have autoreturn on.
Patchouli Woollahra: Time was when a Linden could say "I'm going to be a bit busier for a while, could you come back in about an hour or two instead?"
Patchouli Woollahra: and people said "Sure" 90% of the time.
Laetizia Coronet: maybe they were testing for a new griefer attack o_O
Patchouli Woollahra: Not amused with it.
Patchouli Woollahra: Tose.cx is so old.
Torley Linden: We've had various spinning cube griefings lately...
Laetizia Coronet: nowadays newbies come to Help Island shouting I MUST SPEAK TO A LINDEN NOW!!!
Psyra Extraordinaire: I won't even google that. :D
Torley Linden: Psycho-Mondrian, Michelangelo (the Ninja Turtle), even CHOCOLATE RAIN. :O
Patchouli Woollahra: That's not Chocolate.
Torley Linden: ...
Patchouli Woollahra: WE had zombies in Kuula.
Laetizia Coronet: the ninja, that was all over the place last night
Redmond Boa: oh yeah
Laetizia Coronet: Zombies, had those too
Patchouli Woollahra: much shotgun and chainsawing ensued till Plexus came by.
Torley Linden: Hey, on not necessarily a related note, but has anyone noticed a large quantity of objects you left out LONG ago being autoreturned to you yesterday and today?
Torley Linden: w00t Plexus.
Patchouli Woollahra raises her paw.
Redmond Boa: i usually clean up, so no not really
Laetizia Coronet never leaves objects around
Patchouli Woollahra is looking at a interesting cover for a documentary on Maartin Van Peebles.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Things that have always been out? or things that were out ages ago and shouldn't exist?
Phli Foxchase: Hello !
Torley Linden: Patch, can ya tell me more?
Chase Marellan: Same here
Torley Linden: Psyra: Hmm... things that've always been out.
Patchouli Woollahra: http://www.filmforum.org/films/vanpeebles.html
Patchouli Woollahra: "How to eat your watermelon in white company [and enjoy it]"
Torley Linden: HAHAH.
Laetizia Coronet: I wonder though, with the self replicating script... one should weigh the advantages f such a script against the disadvantages
Torley Linden: What a funny name. Gosh, what's with the stereotypes with watermelon tho...
Psyra Extraordinaire: Ahhh, nope. but for the life of me yesterday a prim set got returned to me from Emit Time, a sim I moved out of ages past. I don't quite know how the prims survived there that long without being noticed.:D
Torley Linden: Second Life is such a fertile ground for "This is a tool... you can use it constructively or destructively", eh?
Torley Linden: Psyra: Hmmm... odd.
Patchouli Woollahra: I also found a interesting new video. you like upbeat music right?
Torley Linden: I just got "[5:55] Second Life: Your object 'Object' has been returned to your inventory lost and found folder from parcel 'Protected Land' at Wengen 48.8954, 6.6136 because it went off-world." today...
Patchouli Woollahra: http://woolysquared.blogspot.com/2007/09/heartbreak-on-caturday.html
Torley Linden: but... I haven't recently placed any physical objects out.
Laetizia Coronet: Torley oh yes, but some tools get used almost exclusively in a malign way
Torley Linden: Laetizia: Sadly so.
Laetizia Coronet: so pull them! sheesh
Torley Linden: Oh, I'm a big fan of Joel Veitch.
Torley Linden: WE LIKE THE MOON!
Patchouli Woollahra: You can make a good steak meal with a knife, or you can stab everyone in the room.
Patchouli Woollahra: Torley: this is even better.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Reminds me of a quote from The Philadelphia Experiement 2. "Do you know the difference between a madman and a genius? You see a genius uses his madness constructively, while a madman uses his genius destructively." :>
Redmond Boa: you can eat a watermelon, or smash it
Laetizia Coronet: Pat and what can you do with a gun?
Patchouli Woollahra: Love Me Like You Used To needs to be made into a machinima starring Hermia and Frontier Linden.
Torley Linden: Psyra: I've never seen that but I like the stories about the Philadelphia Experiment 'cuz of time travel.
Torley Linden: Redmond: I saw a horrifying watermelon SMASH WITH UR HEAD contest.
Patchouli Woollahra: Laetizia: you're talking to a girl who has Glock firing qualificaions.
Torley Linden: Hahah Patch, why them in particular?
Chase Marellan: Love that quote
Dedalus Lunardi: :-)
Laetizia Coronet: Pat, sure, you know what I mean though.
Psyra Extraordinaire: And then there's Gallagher, the Nemesis of Torley. :D
Dedalus Lunardi: A great contest :-)
Torley Linden: Yeah, that !@#$er.
Laetizia Coronet: Torley has a nemesis?
Redmond Boa: does he still do that?
Torley Linden: Well, Gallagher kinda redeemed himself... reportedly he gets upset when people refer to him and watermelons nowadays.
Torley Linden: Maybe he DOES have a conscience.
Torley Linden: Or at least, doesn't want to be typecast.
Patchouli Woollahra: lolz
Redmond Boa: haha
Psyra Extraordinaire: Heh. :>
Chase Marellan: A little late for that .... :)
Patchouli Woollahra is still lamenting the death of Pavarotti.
Torley Linden: Yeah, no more Three Tenors, or great solo performances. :(
Patchouli Woollahra: The Fat Man has sung, apparently.
Torley Linden: I gotta say that passing caught me outta the blue.
Patchouli Woollahra: Two Tenors and Tony Montana.
Torley Linden: I used to think Pavarotti and Dom DeLuise were brothers, you know?
Dedalus Lunardi: I agree... :-(
Patchouli Woollahra: That would be Two Tenors and a Soprano, right?
Laetizia Coronet: heh
Torley Linden: Hahaha good one Patch.
Torley Linden: Oh that's so funny.
Psyra Extraordinaire: They were so alike, yeah.
Torley Linden: I love off-the-cuff humor like that...
Patchouli Woollahra is a comedian at heart.
Psyra Extraordinaire: I haven't missed a musician like that since Victor Borge. :>
Torley Linden: I used to wear a hat like Dom DeLuise and wave around a coffee mug like he did on Candid Camera.
Torley Linden: Victor Borge, one of my faves too...
Laetizia Coronet is not into opera
Redmond Boa is still lamenting the death of jesus
Torley Linden: up there in the "great antics" dept. alongside Liberace (RIP).
Patchouli Woollahra: Neither was James Brown.
Patchouli Woollahra: but they really hit it off together when they sung.
Torley Linden: There's that classic rave song titled "James Brown Is Dead". I wonder how Mr. Brown felt about that.
Patchouli Woollahra: The dead don't feel anything generally.
Laetizia Coronet: there was a rely, James Brown Is Still Alive
Laetizia Coronet: *reply
Torley Linden: Hahaha.
Torley Linden: Clevar, I like those kind of replies.
Patchouli Woollahra: the spining in their graves thing is a seismic event.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Most of what's being written today would make most classical artists roll over in their graves.
Torley Linden: I'm actually looking for James Brown-style dances in SL...
Torley Linden: I'd love to activate those and skidaddle across the floor.
Laetizia Coronet: Pat, especially Pavarotti's spinning ;)
Torley Linden: Hence, "Roll over, Beethoven".
Patchouli Woollahra: There's always the Liaison classic: Living With A Hermia.
Torley Linden: HAHAHA.
Torley Linden: That sounds like something Weird Al would do.
Patchouli Woollahra: Actually,he did.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Don't diss the Hermia. :>
Laetizia Coronet: heh
Patchouli Woollahra: Hernia.
Patchouli Woollahra: It could have been worse. There's the joke about the Linden Labs Thank-You Dinner.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Haven't seen her in ages. She used to just pop by and visit peeps for the heck of it. :D
Torley Linden: What's that joke, Patch?
Redmond Boa: whats the shortcut to rebake textures?
Torley Linden: Ctrl-Alt-R.
Redmond Boa: thank you
Patchouli Woollahra: "TONGHT WE DINE WITH ELLE."
Torley Linden: You're welcome!
Torley Linden: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA OMG...
Torley Linden: Have you told Elle that?
Phli Foxchase: Elle Linden ?
Torley Linden: Elle is so stylish.
Patchouli Woollahra: I don't want to. you guys sacve it for the next dinner invite.
Torley Linden: I ask her for tips. I ask a lot of people for good advice.
Patchouli Woollahra: I ask for sanity.
Torley Linden: I love the music to the 300 trailer, "Just Like You Imagined"... by Nine Inch Nails.
Phli Foxchase: and she speack french :)
Redmond Boa: do you ask yourself
Torley Linden: It kicks so much ass, NIN is great for bug triaging.
Patchouli Woollahra: which seems to be happening a bit too unfrequently.
Torley Linden: http://youtube.com/watch?v=zHBRwAu8S2E if you haven't heard it yet. ;)
Laetizia Coronet: I met one Linden who said: "Yoo can take the goil ouda Noo Yoik butcha can't take Noo Yoik ouda the goil." ONE guess who that was ;)
Redmond Boa: have you heard sick sick sick?
Patchouli Woollahra: Personally, I prefer The Bughhunting song from Ah! My Goddess.
Torley Linden: Patch, that on YouTubes too?
Torley Linden: Laetizia: Hmmm... not sure offhand... *thinks of who's on the East Coast*
Patchouli Woollahra: not really. it's been licensed for ages. it's the music that comes up when Skuld starts huntting bugs with a hammer.
Laetizia Coronet: Mia, she sounds like Fran Drescher :D
Torley Linden: I like Fran Drescher's laugh.
Redmond Boa: ugh, fran descher breaks my eardrums
Torley Linden: Her voice did change after surgery.
Redmond Boa: drescher*
Laetizia Coronet: well to be fair, Mia hasn't got that high pitch
Patchouli Woollahra: BTW, loved our Rydeen cover.
Patchouli Woollahra: your*
Torley Linden: Thank you so much Patch... I had such fun with it... I saw your blog comment too.
Torley Linden: I am OBSESSED with that song.
Patchouli Woollahra is looking for some Pokemon avatars to film a machinima with it.
Torley Linden: http://youtube.com/watch?v=FVbcgdOtFfg for what Patch is talking about.
Redmond Boa: i know a place with a pikachu tiny
Patchouli Woollahra: Any of them with a Goldeen?
Redmond Boa: no
Laetizia Coronet: I have seen some mudkips... but be careful to use them, people might think things :P
Patchouli Woollahra shrugs.
Torley Linden: There are like, what, over 500 Pokemon now? Amazing.
Torley Linden: Yeah, Mudkips is one of my faves...
AIste Boa: lol hihi
Torley Linden: So yes, I do "liek" Mudkips.
Laetizia Coronet: lol
Redmond Boa: go chimchar, flaming monkey FTW!
Wolfie Waves pokes his head in
Patchouli Woollahra has tons of midkip[s in her inventory.
AIste Boa: haha cool
Patchouli Woollahra: I also have a Spotspiker.
Torley Linden: I think Axolotls are incredible creatures.
Laetizia Coronet: throw in some plastic ducks for good measure
Patchouli Woollahra: salamanders that never ever leave their watery birthplaces, I know.
Redmond Boa: and a watermelon moster for good measure
Patchouli Woollahra: I ahve a Plastic duck av actually.
Torley Linden: I have a melonkip av some of you have seen before...
Redmond Boa: me too
Redmond Boa: plastic duck
Torley Linden: Pretty intriguing, all the ways we can express ourselves in here...
Patchouli Woollahra: got it during a raid on Woodbury.
Wolfie Waves: Well, that was fun
AIste Boa: in a tutorial on youtube i saw the person who was building looked like pedobear xD
Torley Linden: Heya Wolfie. :)
Laetizia Coronet: someone gave me it but I refused
Wolfie Waves: Hey Torley :)
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Torley Linden: AIste: Yes, I saw that one too! I think that was the one by Drokken.
Redmond Boa: if you want patch, i can make a goldeen if you want to find someone to texture it
Patchouli Woollahra: nothing wrong with ageplay, as long as it's not sexual.
Laetizia Coronet: ah Torley what about that video of Dimitrio in time lapse, that was awesome!
AIste Boa: okay im sure i was
Patchouli Woollahra is looking a bit yougner than usual today for a reason.
Torley Linden: Laetizia: Yes, I really enjoyed watching that!
Torley Linden: Esp. the Tringo game part... I left a comment.
Torley Linden: I haven't played Tringo in ages.
Torley Linden watches Psyra change avs...
Laetizia Coronet: I saw that, yes
Redmond Boa: i play everyday
Laetizia Coronet: I left one too
Redmond Boa: great people
Torley Linden: Psyra, imagine what you could do with a big wall poster of all your avs in a super-happy group shot.
Wolfie Waves: So what are you guys all talking about?
Patchouli Woollahra: confuzzle people?
Torley Linden: Wolfie, misc. topics! Pretty much stream-of-consciousness.
AIste Boa: heard alot about tringo now but havent tried it yet
Psyra Extraordinaire: That would require an incredible amount of photoshopping. :D
Wolfie Waves: Hehe
Redmond Boa: you should
Laetizia Coronet: Wolfie, all things interesting / fascinating... or bugs, or... or... lol
Torley Linden: I know Kelly Linden/Ama Omega kicks ass at Tringo.
Redmond Boa: hey wolfie
Patchouli Woollahra: I lost count of the number of personas I have.
Wolfie Waves: Hey Redmond :)
Laetizia Coronet: I never played trngo, no idea how to do it
Redmond Boa: i seem to always win if the pot is bigger then 500
Torley Linden: I remember when Linden alts were more of a big deal too... it's a lot more casual now.
AIste Boa: hah nice
Torley Linden: The climate sure has changed.
Patchouli Woollahra: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZrr7AZ9nCY <-- The future is a big-assed table.
Redmond Boa: the touchtable?
Psyra Extraordinaire: ahhh, yes. Hee
Laetizia Coronet: I saw soeone with the frst name Linden... surely not a good idea to allow that
Psyra Extraordinaire: Yeah. :D
Patchouli Woollahra: a sarcastic version of it.
Torley Linden: Laetizia, that shouldn't be possible. I know a few have slipped through tho.
Torley Linden: Patch, that's one of my faves, hahaha.
Patchouli Woollahra: true. The Lindmans were a disaster too.
Laetizia Coronet: well ext time I'll AR then
Redmond Boa: that touchtable thing is like ten thousand right now i think
Laetizia Coronet: *next
Wolfie Waves: Yeah, I have seen a few Linden first names too
Torley Linden: Yeah, "Lindman" as a last name too... ack.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Well, through the page you can't, but there's tricks to set up an ASP form on another site that lets you bypass some restrictions, I've heard.
Torley Linden: Or "Lindley".
Laetizia Coronet: and a KikeSpicNigger
Redmond Boa: what if a linden first name became a linden? linden linden?
Patchouli Woollahra: It's hard to tell someone to gtfo simply because he looks like a warthog in a spacesuit named Harry Lindman.
Redmond Boa: lol
Psyra Extraordinaire: Well, people usually AR offensive names as they see them.
Torley Linden: Racist names should be put on hold immediately.
Redmond Boa: n word johnson?
Patchouli Woollahra: There's also CickMy Lunt.
Torley Linden: Redmond: I'll let you know if that ever happens.
Redmond Boa: yeah i know that
Laetizia Coronet: yes... you can't put Ass in your name (Massimiliano) but you can be nigger? Not good
Laetizia Coronet: CickMy Lunt lol, yes, she's w/hat
Redmond Boa: yep
Patchouli Woollahra: gawd, people, if you must be funny about your name, have the common decency to be genuine funny.
Wolfie Waves: Hey Torley, random question. How goes WindLight? :p
Laetizia Coronet: that's just funny
Torley Linden: Oh, WindLight... glad you asked, see my profile. ;)
Patchouli Woollahra has seen TheWorldOf Tomorrow.
Torley Linden: Hehe... Project Updates @ http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/User:Torley_Linden
Dedalus Lunardi: LOL, windlight always pop up!
Redmond Boa: windlight IS looking good
Wolfie Waves: I have been reading it ^.^
Torley Linden: Yes, I'm synonymous with WindLight, I'm thankful for it.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Hehehe, you're owned. :D
Torley Linden: Cool Wolfie... it's going good overall.
Laetizia Coronet: Hi Tomorrow is nice too
Torley Linden: My latest shots are http://www.flickr.com/photos/torley/
Dedalus Lunardi: We're all waiting it!!!
Wolfie Waves: I'm curious as to what weather effects are possible
Torley Linden: That's adorable, Laetizia, I would've taken that as my alt. ;)
Patchouli Woollahra still misses the overly shiny tht happened when Second Life first had dynamic reflections.
Torley Linden: Wolfie, we haven't added climatic weather yet, but eventually hope to...
Patchouli Woollahra: I don' think rain is in it.
Wolfie Waves: Something I would love to see would be a good thunder storm
Torley Linden: No, no rain. For now, keep using particules. But... eventually...
AIste Boa: i saw your tutorial about making tiny prims and it didnt show how to make spheres or other but i have seen even smaller prims and really want to learn to make them but dont know where at all
Patchouli Woollahra: Have you tried playing collision detection for rain with the kin of content we have here?
Torley Linden: AIste: Ah, the things I didn't cover, there's a tutorial in the forums.
Patchouli Woollahra: Alste: try a jewellery making class.
Redmond Boa: your tutrorials are great
Wolfie Waves: I know rain isn't possible due to it passing through prims but it would be awsome to see big bolts of lightning shoot through the clouds
Patchouli Woollahra: they always have a need for ultra-small primming.
Torley Linden: Yeah, "passing through prims" is one of those issues...
Psyra Extraordinaire: i've seen on ly a few games that have weather that actually have occlusion when indoors, LOTRO, and STALKER
Patchouli Woollahra: so thjey'll always teach about how to make them extra small.
Torley Linden: We had some wild ideas to have apocalyptic effects upon rolling restarts.
Redmond Boa: not excluding phalic objects
Torley Linden: What is LOTRO?
Chase Marellan: I'd love to see that
Patchouli Woollahra: Psyra: those games have the advantage of content that has been locked 90% in stone.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Lord of the Rings online.
Redmond Boa: lord of the rings online
Torley Linden: AHHHH.
Chase Marellan: (The apocolypse, that is)
Redmond Boa: an mmorpg set in middle earth, its pretty fun
Patchouli Woollahra: Not really, no.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Pocky-clips! You have to say it Mel Gibson style. :D
Torley Linden: It's amazing what some peeps have done with particles so far.
Patchouli Woollahra: Something about Seocnd life - it sucks all the fun out of my MMO gaming.
Laetizia Coronet: apocalypse in SL: batman boxes, michelangelos...
Redmond Boa: try a good old fashion mpf
Patchouli Woollahra: but on the flipside, you can fly anywhere.
Redmond Boa: fps*
Patchouli Woollahra: also: have a bigass sword.
AIste Boa: hmm ill try to find that forum then..
Psyra Extraordinaire: I am waiting for Two Worlds. :D
Redmond Boa: two worlds isnt that good sadly
Torley Linden: I haven't heard of Two Worlds yet... gotta look that up.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Take a game like Gothic, but makes it multiplayer.
Laetizia Coronet: hm yes in Battlefield Vietnam I miss the flight option... it's tedious to have to drive a tank across a swamp
Psyra Extraordinaire: Gothic or Oblivion, etc.
Torley Linden: I wouldn't mind trying out a really fun cyberpunk MMO that takes place in the not-too-distant future.
Redmond Boa: its online/offline, in and out
Torley Linden: I really really like Deus Ex, I hope the 3rd one (recently announced) will be good.
Torley Linden: Anyone here like BioShock?
Patchouli Woollahra: Neocron 2 just came online.
Redmond Boa: huxly torley, its called huxly
Torley Linden: Neocron looks cool but takes place too distant in the future for me, I reckon.
Torley Linden: Huxly?
Redmond Boa: huxley*
Patchouli Woollahra: Ah yes, Deus Ex, the only game that keeps getting filtered out by academic firewalsl for no good reason.
Redmond Boa: its a cyberpunk mmofps
Psyra Extraordinaire: I never liked BFV, it taught me there is such thing as "TOO MUCH FOLIAGE" and most of the time you're frantically looking through the jungle for muzzle flashes while being pelted full of holes. :D
Redmond Boa: i love deus ex
Patchouli Woollahra: Because it's deusex.com you know?
Torley Linden: Hmmm. *checks it out*
Torley Linden: Tracer Tong is my fave character...
Redmond Boa: not out yet
Laetizia Coronet: lol Psyra, that's realistic though
Torley Linden: it's so amazing, I wish the whole Deus Ex world was even vaster.
Redmond Boa: deus ex 3
Torley Linden: (BRB, getting drink!)
Wolfie Waves: I wonder when we will see an update to the current linden trees and grass
Patchouli Woollahra is waiting to get a laptop that can handle Bioshock.
Redmond Boa: thats not gonna happen\
Patchouli Woollahra: Speedtree is closed source.
Aimee Congrejo: Speaking of games Torley, RobbyRacoon Olmstead, one of the C:SI blade scripters, dug up yer old Samurai Island Pizza Cats post. =^.^= He's almost got NPC libsecondlife bots ready to run around Samurai Edo for us to fight.
Redmond Boa: a love bioshock
Psyra Extraordinaire: I like BF2 (especially Allient Intent mod), and GTA: San Andreas Multiplayer. :D
Laetizia Coronet: I hope they are going to offer decent skin to noobs - these are old and never meant for the MG in the first place - asl Blue
Patchouli Woollahra: Besides people do cooler stuff with prims than any Linden can do these days, sadly.
Redmond Boa: tried oblivion online?
Wolfie Waves: I prefer BF2142 over BF2 hehe
Patchouli Woollahra: a lot of the holdest Linden labs provided avatars are showing their age, sadly.
Psyra Extraordinaire: I'll like BF2142 again when it's got more than 6 coop/SP maps. :D
Moard Ling: int15h, hi anymore recommended YouTube music links
Patchouli Woollahra: we've gone from looking like dorks and girls in solidcolor shirts.
Redmond Boa: oblivion online is a mod for oblivion wich puts different players in the same game, its in beta, only 2 can be seen the rest are invisivle
Patchouli Woollahra: to looking quite different.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Not bad.
Wolfie Waves: There is a new expansion pack for BF2142 with lots of new maps :)
Redmond Boa: im still in my start avatar clothes and hair
Psyra Extraordinaire: I always wished they'd make more games like that and make them coop with a friend.
Redmond Boa: yeah
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Games like FarCry.... they did that but the mod is very unstable and you desynch from each other a lot.
Wolfie Waves: I guess EA just held back on maps the the main game as they would rather suck more money out of people by selling the other maps in expansion packs
Laetizia Coronet: LL could do that too :P
Torley Linden: Ahhh... *scrolls up*
Torley Linden: I really like the Crytek visuals, they are gorgeous.
Redmond Boa: tried the island adventure pack, it adds fun vehiicals to farcry
Patchouli Woollahra: story of our lives. getting nickle and dimed to death on everything.
Patchouli Woollahra: Unlike in Second Life!
Torley Linden: Aimee! Nice to see you here! Thanks for the tips too...
Psyra Extraordinaire: Hee, I can't wait for Crysis. :D
Laetizia Coronet: Basic: just access to Waterhead, Kirkby, Grasmere and Borrowdale
Aimee Congrejo: Thankies Torley! ^^
Redmond Boa: awww crysis *mouth waters*
Torley Linden: I'm intrigued in checking out what RobbyRaccoon is doing.
Patchouli Woollahra: Now if you must excuse m, I need to pay L$30 each for four place listings, L$300 in rent, US$5 in tier, another L$400 in upload costs, and oh yeah, premium.
Aimee Congrejo: Yah, I'll let you know once he lets the bots loose. He's experimenting in an OpenSim server right now.
Dedalus Lunardi: Torley, you wrote that the movie capture will be cut off, is it true?
Psyra Extraordinaire: I only hope you won't need a god machine to run it.... FC pushed the bar for making a game that -looked- too full of oomph for the computers at the time but it actually worked very nicely. :D
Redmond Boa: trust me
Patchouli Woollahra: Why not? it's not like the inclient movie capture does anything at all now.
Patchouli Woollahra: people use FRAPS now.
Torley Linden: Dedalus: Not necessarily; we haven't made a decision on that yet but it may *possibly* be excluded if it continues to cause troubles while better 3rd-party alternatives exist.
Redmond Boa: pcs restart every 3 months, consoles every 5 years
Torley Linden: I use FRAPS myself.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Fraps is soooo much better.
Torley Linden: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Movie_Recording
Dedalus Lunardi: Yes, i use it too, just curious
Psyra Extraordinaire: And it costs almost nothing.
Redmond Boa: how much does FRAPS cost?
Psyra Extraordinaire: you just need a lot of scratch space. :D
Dedalus Lunardi: 37 or similar
Patchouli Woollahra: but the best movie capture for second life, if you can afford it, is a separate computer with a working frame capture card.
Torley Linden: Yeah, it's like US$37, I got my FRAPS through a group licensing @ LL.
Wolfie Waves: Hey Torley I almost forgot. Did that thing I suggested fix your jumpy graphics? :)
Dedalus Lunardi: Can i have one too? LOL
Patchouli Woollahra: join the Lindens xD
Psyra Extraordinaire: Fraps does slurp a lot of HD space while recording if you have a high end computer.
Psyra Extraordinaire: 5 seconds @ 140 megs.
Patchouli Woollahra: 1 Terabyte external harddisk ftw.
Psyra Extraordinaire: But that's fullsize, 20-40fps video.
Dedalus Lunardi: Yes, i have 3 hds. :-)
Psyra Extraordinaire: Same. :D
Aimee Congrejo: Torley, here's a video of RobbyRacoon's bot in action: http://www.daikonforge.com/webtab/2007/09/06/npc-combat-samurai-island/
Torley Linden: Wolfie: I haven't tried it yet, sorry! But I hope to soon.
Aimee Congrejo: Speaking of movie capture ^^
Redmond Boa: thank the loard for quad core
Wolfie Waves: Hehe okies :p
Redmond Boa: lord*
Torley Linden: Yeah, advantage of not compressing so much on-the-fly is higher FPS...
Torley Linden: I love my Q6600.
Torley Linden: Sweet, thanks for da link, Aimee.
Aimee Congrejo: Yep Torley, check it out whenever ^^
Torley Linden: What other cool things have you, or anyone here in Second Life? Feel free to send me landmarks.
Torley Linden: Aimee, haha great balance!
Redmond Boa: dual sli, dual monitors = awesomeness
Patchouli Woollahra: so what if the SL client is single core? that still means three other free cores xD
Aimee Congrejo: LOL yah, the tail really helps with the balance!
Patchouli Woollahra: Thanks for highlighting Harry's island, I've been meaning to visit it for ages.
Redmond Boa: aiot toon wonderland, i dont have a landmark, wait maybe i do
Marianne McCann: I have it, Redmond
Dedalus Lunardi: I'm trying to make a long film, but it is in Italian Torley, maybe you will not understand the dialogues. LOL
Marianne McCann gave you Aiot's Toon Wonderland, Bish Bos, Novgorod (160, 143, 105).
Laetizia Coronet: Dedalus, subtitles!
Dedalus Lunardi: LOL
Dedalus Lunardi: My poor english...
Torley Linden: Ahhh thanks...
Laetizia Coronet: or *shudders in horror* voice-overs
Torley Linden: Toon Wonderland eh? Intriguing.
Dedalus Lunardi: Subtitles will become very bad
Wolfie Waves: We have a cool Stargate build over in Eternal Calm, but I don't think I ever made a landmark, even though I live there lol
Laetizia Coronet: Dedalus but that's where you need a translator :)
AIste Boa: hard to understand how to do tiny prims when reading about it alot more easy when looking at a video
Redmond Boa: lol
Marianne McCann: It's not a bad place. Definitely fun
Patchouli Woollahra: since the SLCC jsut came and went, I was going to do a banjo piece. well... http://woolysquared.blogspot.com/2007/08/patches-of-insanity-3-price-of-poor.html
Aimee Congrejo: Who needs a landmark when it's yer home location? ^^
Redmond Boa: sure is
Wolfie Waves: Hehe exactly :p
Torley Linden: Hahaha.
Torley Linden: I visited Eternal Calm recently, I like Stargate a lot.
Torley Linden: I used to watch SG-1 all the time.
Wolfie Waves: I think you have been there a few weeks ago though Torley as I remember seeing part of Sedo Locus in one of your snapshots on flickr ^.^
Marianne McCann: I put a lot of my fave LMs into Mysti, then forget about using the map an stuff
Redmond Boa: they are making an mmoand a card game
Patchouli Woollahra: Liek the Eye Of Judgement?
Torley Linden: Yes, I'm pretty sure that was it, Wolfie.
Psyra Extraordinaire: The MMO keeps drifting in and out of Development Hell. :/
Wolfie Waves: =^.^=
Torley Linden: I send a lot of postcards as a form of visual landmarking, complete with SLURLs.
Redmond Boa: well, yeah
Lina Pussycat gave you Snapshot.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Complaining over who gets to distribute it.
Wolfie Waves: I'm gonna brb guys, need to go find something to eat
Marianne McCann: I do dat with my Snapzilla shots sometimes too, Torley.
Patchouli Woollahra: why don't they host a PvP bmatch?
Redmond Boa: thats the gaming industry for ya
Redmond Boa: wolfies' dead
AIste Boa: i wish when building in SL it would be as easy to use like google sketch up
Laetizia Coronet: call 911
Chase Marellan: Bwahahahaha.... I love that
Marianne McCann watches Psyra change jes after zooming itn to figure out the last one
Patchouli Woollahra: \
Patchouli Woollahra: well, for some of us it is.
Dedalus Lunardi: Psyra is scaring me
Redmond Boa: i try to just build randomly, but fluently, just making a prim then shifting it
Torley Linden: Some of my best build moments come through frustration, then inspiration.
Patchouli Woollahra just significantlyimproved her Lightwave use on sculptmap making thanks to some help from the guys at DStorm.
Torley Linden: I sure wish I had more time to build, tho.
Patchouli Woollahra: Psyra is Extraordnare-ily scary.
Patchouli Woollahra: check out her avatars sometime.
Redmond Boa: thats all i do really: clubes, tringo and building
Torley Linden: Have you guys heard of Plopp to make sculptie prims? Apparently they're working on a new beta version... it's designed for kids, so it's meant to be very easy... looks fun.
Marianne McCann: Mines are usually kinda random, like "Oh, what if I make a ___ today?"
Psyra Extraordinaire: Eeeek! 'Her'? :D
Marianne McCann: Kids?
Marianne McCann grins
AIste Boa: never heard of it
Redmond Boa: plopp?
AIste Boa: lol
Patchouli Woollahra: Plopp?
Chase Marellan resists the urge to say "Plopp?"
Psyra Extraordinaire: Hiya Lina. :D
Patchouli Woollahra: sounds like something that happens in the outhouse.
Laetizia Coronet: I somehow qut building because of sculpties... seems so pointless now
Torley Linden: http://www.planet-plopp.com/
Lina Pussycat: Hi Psyra :)
Psyra Extraordinaire: Aww. :<
Patchouli Woollahra: Girl uyou need to simply examine your new tools,.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Don't quit, there's still a ton of things you can't do with them.
Torley Linden: I don't think basic primitives are obsolete at all for a number of reasons — use them in tandem.
Patchouli Woollahra: Torley recently reviewed SculpteyPaint.
Laetizia Coronet: if it's for kids they may have a copyright issue with that name
Marianne McCann: I understand dat feeling. In a day I went from a decent builder to unemployable as one
Patchouli Woollahra: at least go take a look at it.
Psyra Extraordinaire: And ironically, many avvies I've seen that are made entirely of sculpties look more artificial than ones done in multiple prims. c.c
Torley Linden: Sculpties have roughly the same geometric "cost" as twisted tori, so while you save on prims, they're more taxing.
Marianne McCann: But I still build, cuz it's fun
Redmond Boa: just get back in the game, like emilio estevez in those duck movies
Torley Linden: It's important to consider all tools and make the best of them.
Torley Linden: Hahaha Redmond!
Torley Linden: For example, it makes no sense to use a sculptie if you want a basic box... rounded corners can be cool but not always desired.
Lina Pussycat: Something i've noticed with sculpties seems to be the export method by default....
Laetizia Coronet: I haven't the time or th4e patience to get into the sculptie craze... and I fear I am too demanding of the outcome too
Laetizia Coronet: the results
Marianne McCann: Made my first jewelry piece the other day - a freebie I've out into the hidden part of Livingtree
Redmond Boa: i just get my income from tringo and events really
Patchouli Woollahra: I'll gho get the chainsaw.
Marianne McCann: So there's still building to do
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Patchouli Woollahra has a shop just next to OI 1.
Laetizia Coronet: I sell clothing... at least hum I should be
Torley Linden: Hopefully sculpties will become easier to create...
Torley Linden: so that they can be enjoyed by more.
Torley Linden: I certainly am interested in this, I have to admit, Maya boggles me...
Torley Linden: So I'm checking out stuff like Plopp.
Lina Pussycat: For example there are places that the scupties could use harder lines but by default most of the export methods atually try to blend the lines rather then making a Clear Distinction
Patchouli Woollahra: Maya boggles ME.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Birds and kobolds..... and that's about it.
Redmond Boa: i made a fat midget, it sells like hotcakes
Patchouli Woollahra: <-- Lightwave and mdo user.
Torley Linden: Redmond, I gotta see!
Torley Linden: Modo looks very elegant and intuitive — would you say so, Patch?
Marianne McCann: Patchouli - my sis uses Lightwaves, but has yet to find any exporter dat works
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Patchouli Woollahra: yes it is. and right now if you act now, I can suggest an option that will get you abouyt 50% off on the price of a full copy. legitimately.
Torley Linden: I did a few things with Wings3D but wasn't entirely satisfied...
Marianne McCann: She's tryin to learn modo, but I'm stuck with Wings and Rokuro
Dedalus Lunardi: Nice Red
Psyra Extraordinaire: Small in size, large in footwear!
Torley Linden: the easier tool I've been using so far is Sculptypaint, which has come a long way in a few months.
Patchouli Woollahra: Marianne: tell her to check the sculpty articles in the SLwiki, I updated it to give thanks to the DStormers.
Redmond Boa: what are we talking aboutr again?
Torley Linden: I also have tried Rokuro to make pots and vases and stuff.
Marianne McCann: Torley - now if only they could make it work right onna mac!
Torley Linden: Sorry, I crashed!
Aimee Congrejo: wb Crashley
Lina Pussycat: hehe
Torley Linden: Recently I have been getting these BSODs... :\
Torley Linden: I need to find out what's going on.
Torley Linden: LOL.
Lina Pussycat: fun fun
Dedalus Lunardi: llTorleycrash said Laetizia. LOL
Torley Linden: Hey Lina glad you could make it!
Laetizia Coronet: bsod?
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Lina Pussycat: why i've been on linux =/
Marianne McCann: Yay for ravens
Psyra Extraordinaire: The chances of Torley crashing is about equal to seeing a Superman reference in a Seinfeld episode.
Torley Linden: Blue Screen of Death.
Wolfie Waves: Hey guys I@m back :)
Patchouli Woollahra: pheer my coffeejar.
Torley Linden: Haha Psyra, I wish it wasn't that way!
Laetizia Coronet: ah
Psyra Extraordinaire: Yes. :<
Torley Linden: This was a hard reboot of my computer, it's been frustrating me.
Laetizia Coronet: it was me with my llTorleycrash script
Torley Linden: I hope to find out what's going on... and fix it!
Psyra Extraordinaire: Oww.
Dedalus Lunardi: We hope too!
Torley Linden: But in any case, glad to be back here with you guys.
Redmond Boa: what are the benefits of premium anyway
Aimee Congrejo: Torley, yah, SL has been kernel panicing my Mac Pro...I get the gray "you must reboot" screen adn needs a hard reboot.
Lina Pussycat: torley easiest fix get rid of windows >.>
Marianne McCann: Welcome back!
Aimee Congrejo: But I can't get a crash report since it's a hard freeze
Torley Linden: Aimee: Ack. :\ When does that happen, is that pretty reproducible? ALready on the Issue Tracker?
Patchouli Woollahra: Premium gets you ticketing access threough the Supportal.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Dang, renderglow plays havoc with that hat. :D
Torley Linden: I'd switch from Windows if I didn't have so much stuff that was dependent on it.
Patchouli Woollahra: as wellas the tier required for 512sqm of mainland.
Aimee Congrejo: Torley, yah, reported months ago. No repro.
Torley Linden: Hrmmm.
Marianne McCann: None of that here, Aimee - but I know Robin has had that
Torley Linden: Crashiness, not nice.
Patchouli Woollahra had hard freezes a few weeks ago when her computer's ram was burning out.
Laetizia Coronet: what's that thing on your back?
Lina Pussycat: premium gets you a weekly stipend better support portal access the right to own land and 512 sq meters of ram
Patchouli Woollahra: This is what happens when we cut out redundancy to make cheaper computers.
Redmond Boa: i have 2 pcs and a mac
Psyra Extraordinaire: .... of ram?
Redmond Boa: 3 moniters
Aimee Congrejo: Torley, completely random. Oh, also, when will SL use all 8 of my cores? LOL Kinda frustrating getting only 5 FPS here right now when only one core is pegged at 100% LOL
Redmond Boa: 1 os on each
Patchouli Woollahra: of server resources I think.
Redmond Boa: monitors*
Psyra Extraordinaire: Hmmm.
Lina Pussycat: the thing on torleys back is actually a tp system hehe
Patchouli Woollahra: Aimee: when cows fly.
Aimee Congrejo: Patchouli ^^
Redmond Boa activates he cow flying thingy
Torley Linden: Aimee: I don't know because multithreading SL completely is non-trivial, but I know we do want to do it... you have Run Multiple Threads on right now currently, yes?
Lina Pussycat: its quite interesting :)
Patchouli Woollahra: even Unreal has problems using more than four cores.
Torley Linden: Lina: Yeah, it's an antique. :)
Torley Linden: ROAM doesn't even work anymore for traveling, but it's sort of a retro-fashion now.
Patchouli Woollahra: MT programming is a relatively recent trick.
Laetizia Coronet: ah wait I have a Wet Ikon Roam somewhere in inventory
Aimee Congrejo: Yah Torley, multiple threads is on, so I have 8 cores at 12.5% instead of 1 core at 100% ^^
Lina Pussycat: aye hehe
Patchouli Woollahra: I have a HIPPO.
Laetizia Coronet: next to my Wet Ikon anim overrider
Torley Linden: Aimee: Yeah... I'm on a quad-core and I'd definitely like to see improvements too.
Lina Pussycat: how dated do we feel talking about that stuff :P
Torley Linden: No one can complain about higher framerate!
Marianne McCann: Yay for Hippos
Torley Linden: Haha, antiques roadshow, Second Life style!
Patchouli Woollahra: Actually, the sim can.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Dual core, and everything running like silk. :<
Lina Pussycat: i've noticed something..... lol
Patchouli Woollahra: Sim FPSes used to run at "As fast as you can" early on in SL's life.
Aimee Congrejo: Torley, yah, I get like 90 FPS in Samurai Edo sometimes...but 5 FPS here. Totally random...*sigh*
Psyra Extraordinaire: They're all throttled to 45 now. :>
Lina Pussycat: people that go get top of the line computers seem to have more problems then those that dont :)
Laetizia Coronet: I even saw a car somewhere made by Starax... 2004 style
Redmond Boa: ITS GETTING LATE
Patchouli Woollahra: of course that meant that you got some insanely silly script IPSes.
Torley Linden: Hmmm Aimee, do you notice any significant performance differences with VPO on or off?
Marianne McCann: I'm curious, though... has anyone else noticed a lot of lag about the last coupel days?
Torley Linden: Er, VBO.
Patchouli Woollahra: The Help Ilsland has such a car on free sale actually.
Torley Linden: I have had slow texture loading in general for the last few weeks, but maybe it's just me.
Patchouli Woollahra: Marianne, I noticed it too.
Redmond Boa: ive been lagging too, but i always laf
Lina Pussycat: im getting about 12 fps here and i have an amd sempron 2400+ at about 1.72 ghz -.-
Laetizia Coronet: ah, that is also a Starax one? Didn't know
Patchouli Woollahra: there's been significant issues with the grid. check your SL official blog for more details.
Redmond Boa: lag*
Aimee Congrejo: Oh, VBO...is that Vertex shaders?
Aimee Congrejo: Which option is that?
Patchouli Woollahra: Vertex Buffer Objects.
Lina Pussycat: vertex buffer objects aimee
Aimee Congrejo: Oh, OpenGL...yah...
Laetizia Coronet: they also give out a biplane I can't begin to operate...
Aimee Congrejo: Sorry
Marianne McCann: I've had dat too. Specially with clothing. Took forever to do a family portrait last night
Psyra Extraordinaire: I assembled a system designed specifically for running SL... fortunately that means it also runs everything else ludicrously well. :D
Aimee Congrejo: *yawn* Haven't really noticed a difference
Patchouli Woollahra: It's a way to dynamicaly smooth geometry as you get closer to it.
Patchouli Woollahra: ideal for intrinsically round shapes.
Psyra Extraordinaire: SL should be a benchmark. "If you can run LL's software, you can run ANYTHING" :)
Aimee Congrejo: Yah, VBO makes a big difference on my Powerbook but not my Mac Pro.
Patchouli Woollahra: Psyra: mayve you're already working with a card that has enough grunt to run with detail shaders slammed all the way to the right?
Lina Pussycat: errr actually patchouli lemme correct that a little o.O
Psyra Extraordinaire: Yes, Geforce 8600 GT.
Patchouli Woollahra: big duh.
Aimee Congrejo: o.O I just turned OFF VBO on my Mac Pro and dropped from 5 FPS to 1 FPS
Torley Linden: Haha Psyra, imagine when most computers can run SL with ease, then we'll know we've achieved some sort of plateau (and onto even better performance).
Aimee Congrejo: Turning VBO back on brought me back up to 5 FPS
Psyra Extraordinaire: Details all slammed to max, 256 draw distance, etc.
Torley Linden: Aimee: Yeah generally keeping it on increases performance.
Patchouli Woollahra: the limiter with those cards is not your graphics card anymore. it's the engine.
Psyra Extraordinaire: RenderGlow and RenderDynamicRelfections on.
Redmond Boa: thatll happen when crysis is easy to run of middle end computers
Laetizia Coronet: keeping what on?
Lina Pussycat: VBO doesnt have much to do with the rendering of rounded shapes its a rendering method in itself....
Patchouli Woollahra: Vertex Buffer Objects.
Torley Linden: Hehe Redmond, well it depends on network technology too, bandwidth and smoothness to stream things in...
Aimee Congrejo: Oooh...someone on my head! ^^
Torley Linden: :O
Marianne McCann: Heh... an i gots to keep all my settings throttled back!
Laetizia Coronet: hmmm got to find that then
Patchouli Woollahra: The next thing will be recoding that VBO thing to take advantage of what the latest in DX10-capable cards offer: incard tessellation .
Patchouli Woollahra: it's when the cpu jkust tells the card what the model is like roughly and ilets it work out how to place the extra polygons.
Lina Pussycat: by default there are diff rendering methods some use lists and others grab live data.... etc and render it live there is also a 3rd variation which is a play off the list method of rendering......
Wolfie Waves: You know what's weird, I got SL to works perfectly on my old Intel Celeron with a GeForce Ti4200 64mb card yet SL works as slow as a slug on my friends system and he has an AMD Athlon 64 with a GeForce 7 series card
Laetizia Coronet: hm I can't enable VBO
Patchouli Woollahra: as opposed to now: SL more often than not is stuck using the CPU to do tesselation.
Wolfie Waves: Fould that rather funny
Torley Linden: I wonder what caused that big difference, Wolfie.
Marianne McCann: Oops
Lina Pussycat: VBO takes the advantages of the 3 and tries to get rid of the disadvantages
Marianne McCann: Lag got me
Wolfie Waves: I have no idea
Patchouli Woollahra: Haven't you heard? 32bit code run on 64-bit computers tends to result in speed penalties?
Psyra Extraordinaire: my machine that got replaced was a 2.8 gig P4 with a Geforce 6200.... minimum draw distance, shiny was the only thing turned on, max detail for everything except trees, but.... only 13fps in quite sims and 2-5 in anything with some people or landscaping. :/
Wolfie Waves: As at the time both systems had a fresh install of XP that was stripped down with nLite
Psyra Extraordinaire: quiet sims even
Torley Linden: I find it amazing how you were able to get stuff done on your older computer!
Aimee Congrejo: Torley, should I open a Jira issue to improve the mouseover help for VBO in Prefs? LOL Cuz right now it just sez "This may cause some drivers to crash." That doesn't sound like a feature I want. =^.~=
Patchouli Woollahra: People, run Sa tool to set affinity, please.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Oh, is there a nonmanual way to set affinity?
Patchouli Woollahra uses the Task Assignment manager from Tom's Hardware @ tomshardware.com
AIste Boa: i crashed..
Torley Linden: Aimee: Yeah -- we're planning to explain that better with a revamped, simplified graphics prefs... :) good idea.
Psyra Extraordinaire: I keep having to set it manually every time.... :D
Marianne McCann: I dun mess with VBO cuz it does funky things to textures, here
Wolfie Waves: Ohh, I have a snapshot of something that will freak you all out. It's nothing rude, it's just one of my SLs windows
Patchouli Woollahra: SL works best if you tell it it can only have one core, on modern multicores currently. :(
Torley Linden: I used to have to set affinity manually because my older dual-core with stutter, but I've been fine more recently.
Redmond Boa: better not be goatse
Aimee Congrejo: Cool Torley...
Wolfie Waves: Toryel, may a rez a cube to show the texture?
Torley Linden: OK Wolfie!
Marianne McCann: Redmond - ick!
Patchouli Woollahra: writing multithreaded code is no fun. I work with Python, which has multithreading libraries on hand... and it is no fun.
Laetizia Coronet gets the AR out just in case ;)
Aimee Congrejo: Redmond, goatse is sooo old news. All about the Lemonparty now!
Aimee Congrejo: ^^
AIste Boa: love the building tools in google sketch-up i wish there was simular tools here in SL
Patchouli Woollahra: evn though it's pythonic code in it.
Wolfie Waves: Hows that for messed up :p
Redmond Boa: i know stripped down c++ :Gscript
Lina Pussycat: the issue with not having vbo's before was that it was relying on a single rendering method which if its a static world would of worked better.... the issue with the default rendering methods is that one is designed for static enviroment games and the other is designed for 3d modeling and things that need to be updated quite a bit... The problem using either one alone in SL is that the enviroment is a bit of both thus it had a bit lower performance without vbo's and its why it makes the stuff seem smoother
Marianne McCann: AImee - as long as it ain't tub...
Aimee Congrejo: Marianne: ROFL
Patchouli Woollahra: you think that's bad? I once saw a comic where the TMNTs were Ku Klux Klanners.
Lina Pussycat: VBO's cant be enabled unless you have openGL 1.5 or up
Wolfie Waves: I'll keep full bright off as I don't want to blind anyone who has RenderGlow on like me
Torley Linden: Thanks for explaining that, Lina.
Patchouli Woollahra: "TURTLE POWER! TURTLE POWER! TURTLE POWER!"
Torley Linden: Whoa...
Torley Linden: Wolfie, is that still happening to you?
Redmond Boa: KKKMNT?
Wolfie Waves: Yes
Torley Linden: The many Lost And Found folders...
AIste Boa: and why is SL limited to 1 cm only??
Torley Linden: OK, Wolfie... one moment please.
Lina Pussycat: 1 cm?
Torley Linden: Wolfie, can you please try relogging right now?
AIste Boa: yes 0.01 meter
Patchouli Woollahra: Any recent OpenGl accelerator of GeForce FX vintage or more will be able to cope with OpenGL1.5... provided the maufacturer knows what he's doing.
Lina Pussycat: ahhh
AIste Boa: when you build
Wolfie Waves: Hehe, it happend when I first ran 1.18.2, then I went back to 1.18.1 and it was still messed
Wolfie Waves: Been like that for a while hehe
Patchouli Woollahra: unfortunately, that excluded Intel until recently.
Lina Pussycat: well thats a good question it could be limitations of the engine etc
Wolfie Waves: I just live with it now
AIste Boa: and you have to do many tricks to get it under the 1centimeter limit
Lina Pussycat: there are ways to get smaller looking prims but its more a visual tricks
Torley Linden: Wolfie, I ran what should be a fix.
Patchouli Woollahra: Intel just started publishing 3d accelerated drivers for its integrated chipsets in recent weeks xD
Wolfie Waves: I'm using 1.18.3 currently and it's still messed, even after a full reinstall and cache flushing hehe
Patchouli Woollahra: About time. Those abiliites have apparently ALWAYS been in the chips, but wasted due to incompetence.
Wolfie Waves: I guess it's a problem on the server side hehe
Lina Pussycat: wolfie what is screwed?
Wolfie Waves: It is rather funny though
Torley Linden: Wolfie...
Torley Linden: Did you see what I said above?
Lina Pussycat: sorry i didnt see it right off
Torley Linden: :)
Wolfie Waves: Auto return killed it hehe
Torley Linden: Wolfie, try relogging please.
Wolfie Waves: One sec, I'll revive it :p
Patchouli Woollahra: if you know someone who's having problems with his or her INtel Graphics chipset, tell them to get the very latest Intel drivers. it won't be perfect, but it should be teh beginnings of a sensible use of INtel graphics in SL.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Hmmm, here it is *after* 7 and you're still here. Quiet day at the home office? Ooooh, that reminds me, does LL drag you over to the SLViews meetings? :>
Redmond Boa: lol
Redmond Boa: T3H
Torley Linden: Hehe... well I like to stay a little extra if I can.
Torley Linden: I haven't been to the SLViews meetings, no.
Wolfie Waves: Hehe, there ya go
Patchouli Woollahra: SL doesn't officially support INtel due to the fiansco, but this seems to be something that will improve.
Torley Linden: But alas, yeah, I have to be going for now... thanks everyone for visiting me at my office hour!
Psyra Extraordinaire: Oh my.
Wolfie Waves: Behind Ebe
Torley Linden: I will be back at 2 PM PDT later today.
Patchouli Woollahra: baibai, Torley.
Torley Linden: Wolfie, I hope that gets fixed after a relog.
Chase Marellan: Bye, Torley!
Aimee Congrejo: Wooo..thankies Torley!
Redmond Boa: flew by
Chase Marellan: thanks!
Marianne McCann: Have fun, Torley!
Psyra Extraordinaire: that's weird.
Torley Linden: Take care all... bye for now!
Moard Ling: Cheers
Psyra Extraordinaire: See ya T. :D
Redmond Boa: thanks for the time torley?
Laetizia Coronet: bye Torlewy, ty
Torley Linden: Tata!

2 PM

Torley Linden: HELLO!
Daedalus Young: hi Torley
SignpostMarv Martin: Hi Torley :-)
Wyn Galbraith: Hello Torley!
Phoenixa Sol: hiya torley
Marty Gausman: hi torley
Squirrel Wood: Holla ^^
Torley Linden: Good to see you all, earlier here than me too!
Wyn Galbraith: Sorry Chipps
Torley Linden: Hey Daed, Marv, Wyn, Phoenixa, Marty, Squirrel, all!
Torley Linden: Whoa, these chairs...
Torley Linden: they are a-movin'!
Torley Linden: How's everyone's Friday going?
Phoenixa Sol: yea, I thought it was just my machine messing up, lol
Squirrel Wood: slow as usual here
Daedalus Young: heh, tiring, I had to babysit my nephew today
Phoenixa Sol: doing great, dancing up an SL storm
Wyn Galbraith: You can get lost in Torley's office.
Squirrel Wood: and still campaigning for misc-632 ^^
Chipps Rasmuson: I got lost behind a curtain
Wyn Galbraith: So here's the board and I'm usually at this meeting.
Torley Linden: Ahhhh.
Multi Gadget v1.52.0 by Timeless Prototype
Wyn Galbraith: Torley has office hours now, I forgot.
Torley Linden: Oh dear Chipps! Need help getting out?
Torley Linden: :D
Wyn Galbraith: I got her Torley.
Torley Linden: Thanks!
Chipps Rasmuson: We can come back another time
Wyn Galbraith: So just help yourself to this texture board.
Marty Gausman: torley, can u help me with a scripting-problem? it seems I can't implement a binary search in lsl, cause I can't compare 2 strings to each other, would it be possible to implement a binary search as an lsl-function?
Phoenixa Sol: your hat is lovely but it hides your face
Daedalus Young: behind the curtain, in the pantomime
Torley Linden: Yup... just to let you guys know, I may have to leave a bit early because I have another meeting after this. I usually don't, but it's one about Resident Communication and sharing more info about things like performance & stability.
Wyn Galbraith: Make a landmark so you can come back, bugt you're welcome to the meeting too.
Torley Linden: Marty, I'm sorry I don't know about that. Does anyone? :)
Torley Linden: Haha Phoenixa... this hat is a few orders of magnitude TOO BIG, perhaps...
Torley Linden: I can remove it!
Phoenixa Sol: not me, all I do is dance
Torley Linden: Tesla Miles made my hat... she does a great line of sculptie hats... and shoes...
Phoenixa Sol: ahh much better torley!
Torley Linden: It's so good to see all of you!
Marty Gausman: who's the scripting guy in the linden family?
Torley Linden: Yeah, eye contact, it doeth make a difference.
Chipps Rasmuson: Hey, cool
Torley Linden: Marty: There's a lot of devs who are really good, but knowledgeable Residents may be able to help you too... :)
Daedalus Young: why you can't compare 2 strings? last time I checked, you can
Daedalus Young: you can't compare lists though
Torley Linden: I'm not sure of that particular issue.
Phoenixa Sol: I have been enjoying dancing to your pieces up on youtube, very nice!
Squirrel Wood: if (a == b) should actually work for strings.
Chipps Rasmuson: They sure seem to be!
Torley Linden: Thanks Phoenixa, which pieces? The recent kind of sad piano ones?
Phoenixa Sol: yes
Torley Linden: Or more upbeat stuff?
Chipps Rasmuson: Torley sounds nice!
Torley Linden: Ahhhh.
Wyn Galbraith: Look at some of these textures, aren't they just breathless? I love them.
Squirrel Wood: just make sure you use == and not =
Phoenixa Sol: actually, all of them
Torley Linden: I wonder how you dance ot those.
SignpostMarv Martin: if(foo != bar)
Torley Linden: *to!
Phoenixa Sol: I'm trying to make a playlist of all your pieces
Wyn Galbraith: Torley is very nice, come sit with us if you want.
Marty Gausman: the problem is, that lsl can't compare strings, characters might help, but there r none in lsl, and when I cast a string to integer it's always 0
Torley Linden: Aw Wyn, I just had so much fun making them...
Chipps Rasmuson: They're so colourful!
Torley Linden: I liked doing texture making on the weekends.
Wyn Galbraith: on the otherside of this board.
Torley Linden: Yes please come and have a seat if you'd like, and thanks for guiding, Wyn.
Phoenixa Sol: smiles, well check some of my vids and you'll see how I dance in sl. the collection is huge now
Wyn Galbraith: Torley is one of the most creative Linden's
Phoenixa Sol: 8 huddles quick pose huds
Marty Gausman: the problem is with the < and >, not with the ==
Chipps Rasmuson: okay if he wouldn't mind
Torley Linden: I do what I can, and I love to share.
SignpostMarv Martin pokes Torley again with the stick labeled "put your music on last.fm" :-P
Wyn Galbraith: He doesn't mind at all.
Squirrel Wood: you *can* compare strings. Also, if a string is cast to integer and contains anything but numbers (0 to 9) or ., it will always be 0
Wyn Galbraith goes to sit down.
Torley Linden: Yeah Marv I'm still mulling the clear benefits of that... ;) You're so good at keeping attention to all the fine details.
Phoenixa Sol: you should put music at garageband.com too, if you want exposure, it's free to host mp3s
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/13198
SignpostMarv Martin: your music is under the CC license, so there'd be no loss
SignpostMarv Martin: the benefit would be that peeps would be able to download your tracks from last.fm, and they'd also pop up in the last.fm player
Torley Linden: Refresh my memory, what are the main benefits of uploading there, Marv?
Wyn Galbraith: Sorry about that, Torley, didn't mean to interrupt, I've got my timing all mixed up.
Daedalus Young: depends on what you want to compare, if you want to compare alphabetically, you should be able to get the ascii number
Torley Linden: Thanks Phoenixa...
JayR Cela: hi Torley
Torley Linden: Back in the day I used to upload a lot of my MP3s... more recently tho I haven't done much with them, not a lot of time. I do appreciate when folks upload my music to various places, tho.
Torley Linden: Heya JayR!
JayR Cela: I am about to write a nasty article about LL
Phoenixa Sol: yw, garageband has CC licensing as well, and the artist can choose who they want to download, or not at all. wide exposure now through iLike and Facebook too.
Daedalus Young: video replaced the radio star
JayR Cela: dont kill my Avatar please
Wyn Galbraith: Chipps is a little shy yet.
Torley Linden: Aw, what's the matter JayR?
Torley Linden: It's okay to be shy, I can be sometimes. =)
SignpostMarv Martin: http://www.last.fm/music/Torley+Wong/
JayR Cela: this needs to be said
Wyn Galbraith: You look great, JayR
Torley Linden: Marv, verily, the watermelon primitar cracks me up.
Torley Linden: Yesterday for some odd reason I had the SL3B time vault returned to me from Natoma, I don't know why.
SignpostMarv Martin gets mistaken for yourself on occasion :-P
Torley Linden: Hmm... JayR just poofed.
SignpostMarv Martin: MUHAHAHAA
Phoenixa Sol: I like dancing to your slow pieces as I create more ballet moves
Torley Linden: :O
Daedalus Young: so quiet today
SignpostMarv Martin: I've been playing around with planar texture animations with 8x8 textures, made them into some watermelony goodness
Torley Linden: Marv, where can I see that... *looks closely*
Phoenixa Sol: wb jayR
Torley Linden: Yeah, seems to be a "peaceful" type of Friday overall.
Torley Linden: WHOA, trippy!
Torley Linden: Marv, I saw that for a brief moment.
Torley Linden: That was very graceful, Phoenixa.
SignpostMarv Martin: planar texure animations :-P
Wyn Galbraith saw some watermelon earrings in RL that would be perfect for you in SL Torley
Torley Linden: Can you do that again, Marv?
Torley Linden: I don't see it now.
Torley Linden: *looks*
Torley Linden: WHOA< those are neat.
Zrephel Tokugawa: Oh ,that's cool.
Torley Linden: They are very smooth and sci-fi!
Torley Linden: Radical.
SignpostMarv Martin has another one, but it's kinda big
Zrephel Tokugawa: Haven't played much with planar mode animations.
Phoenixa Sol: gorgeous
Zrephel Tokugawa: But I do play with various texture animation tricks rathe often.
Torley Linden: Marv, may I please have a copy of those? Of course you knew I'd ask. :)
Torley Linden: Kewl, Zrephel...
Torley Linden: I like seeing creative things done...
Torley Linden: Ack Daed you still are "MISSING IMAGE" for me.
Torley Linden: Whoa, I want that cube!
SignpostMarv Martin: one texture, 3 prims
Daedalus Young: again!
Torley Linden: HAHAH big melon slice!
Phoenixa Sol: wow, thought that was a much smaller snack!
Squirrel Wood: You have been sliced ^^
Daedalus Young: this any better?
SignpostMarv Martin gave you 8x8 cell.
Torley Linden: Thanxarama!
Squirrel's Fortune Cookie: Here's some wisdom for you:
Squirrel's Fortune Cookie: Whoever undertakes to set himself up as a judge of Truth and Knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of the gods. -- Albert Einstein
Torley Linden: Daed, yup.
Daedalus Young: cool, thanks
Torley Linden: These are so hypnotic.
Zrephel Tokugawa: Here's one of my latest things.
Torley Linden: Looks like a line racer game...
Chipps Rasmuson: I'm still getting used to so much cake - I think I'll OD if I get to the icing too!
JayR Cela: ok i have question about gender bending
Torley Linden: JayR, sure. I know a lot about that. =)
JayR Cela: well i sometime have people freak out
JayR Cela: and it is disturbing
JayR Cela: i am me
JayR Cela: i choose to be female
SignpostMarv Martin: planar animation watermelony goodness
Torley Linden: Yes, you are most certainly you, and you have a right to your own identity as you want to express yourself.
JayR Cela: some folks cant deal with it
Torley Linden: Marv, I think it'd be great for some sort of sci-fi device.
Wyn Galbraith thinks that's their problem not yours JayR.
Squirrel Wood: All hail the great cancer stick :p
Daedalus Young agrees with Wyn
Torley Linden: Unfortunately I've been in some of the same sorts of experiences, JayR — and what Wyn said. You are who you are. They're not worth the trouble.
Torley Linden: Gosh that is a big ciggy.
JayR Cela: thanks
SignpostMarv Martin: made any watermelony presets for WindLight Torley ?
Wyn Galbraith: I think SL is a great equalizer, it forces you to accept a person as they are, not who they are behind the avatar.
Torley Linden: Marv, yes, surprisingly few tho, perhaps. ;)
Torley Linden: DoteDote Edison made a GREAT one on the initial First Look: WindLight release.
Torley Linden: I love the empowerment of presenting ourselves as we choose to be seen here... something about letting out your inner spirit.
Zrephel Tokugawa: I've had some odd experiences with another flavor of "self-identification" issues in SL.
SignpostMarv Martin changes how he presents himself
Squirrel Wood gave you Personal Ban Zone X 4.
JayR Cela: this is a good conversation
Torley Linden: Haha Squirrel, that's pretty funny. YOUR PERSONAL SPACE!
JayR Cela: i am me
Torley Linden: JayR: I'm glad you brought it up.
Squirrel Wood: yep
Torley Linden: I sometimes say, "I am me, and that's all I can be. Unapologetically!"
JayR Cela: and my friends are them selves
Wyn Galbraith: Or changing ourselves as we wish.
Zrephel Tokugawa: Due to the friends I made early on, I spend a lot of my time in the furry areas despite not really considering myself one. I made this av to fit in there...
Squirrel Wood: Yups. You gotta take me as I am.
Wyn Galbraith looks in the mirror often and says, "Who the heck are you!"
JayR Cela: we all love one in other for what we are
Wyn Galbraith: Or 'now who are you?'
Torley Linden: Haha Wyn. Sometimes I feel that way.
SignpostMarv Martin would look in the mirror, except SL doesn't have reflective surfaces yet :-P
Torley Linden: That's intriguing, Zrephel. I have some furry avs too; I'm not a fur lifestyler, but I appreciate a lot of the color and spirit that comes with furry culture.
Wyn Galbraith: I think that's why I feel a kindship with you, Torley.
Rex Cronon: hello everybody
Torley Linden: I hope Dynamic Reflections becomes a standard feature in the future, ehs?
Torley Linden: Aw Wyn. :)
Daedalus Young: hi Rex
Wyn Galbraith is Torleykin.
Zrephel Tokugawa: It's odd. The furries have to put up with a lot of griefers, just because of how they choose to present themselves...
Torley Linden: Heya Rex!
SignpostMarv Martin: you seen the technique peeps have done to get reflective floors Torley ?
Torley Linden: I like that term, "Torleykin".
Torley Linden: Zrephel: Yeah, that's sad. :\
Wyn Galbraith has a furry alt.
Torley Linden: Marv, inversed prims?
Wyn Galbraith: Moonshadow Blackadder. She's a ghost horse.
Torley Linden: Like, you copy a build and flip it upside down?
Zrephel Tokugawa: But that's led many of the furries to be prejudicially suspicious of human avs.
SignpostMarv Martin: take a peak at Nymphetamine's store
Torley Linden: Ghost horse? I haven't seen one before!
SignpostMarv Martin: yar, basically
SignpostMarv Martin: squished a bit
Torley Linden: Kewl Marv...
SignpostMarv Martin: only works on one floor
Phoenixa Sol: I know a few furries and get along just fine with them.
Torley Linden: Yeah, it's sad, Zrephel, how hate divides like that.
Wyn Galbraith: It's at Grindle's of course.
Torley Linden: I know Residents of all walks of Second Life.
Torley Linden: Grindle's? What's that?
JayR Cela: Torley did you see my place ??
Torley Linden: JayR, please refresh my memory where it is?
Torley Linden: I like the snail shirt, Daed.
Wyn Galbraith: Grindle's children? Or am I spelling that wrong? I'm being very lazy with spelling this week.
Rex Cronon: one of the problem that some people have with furries, is that some furry avs have very detailed anatomical parts
Torley Linden: Oh yes, Grendel's Children.
Daedalus Young: thanks Torley
Phoenixa Sol: Grendel's children
Daedalus Young: drew it myself :P
Wyn Galbraith facepalms, "Sorry."
Multi Gadget v1.52.0 by Timeless Prototype
Torley Linden: No worries.
Torley Linden: Ah, self-made art! I dig it!
SignpostMarv Martin: some people react weirdly to nipples Rex :-P
JayR Cela: Torley my Profile > picks JayR Castle
Zrephel Tokugawa: It seems that in general the furry community is far more accepting of other weirdnesses as well.
Rex Cronon: u talking about cow nipples:)
Wyn Galbraith: Some people react weirdly to just the word nipples.
Torley Linden: AH I think I was there, JayR. Thanks.
Wyn Galbraith: Those are utters, Rex.
Yaco Despres laughs
Squirrel Wood: Some people can't stand change or unconventional stuff.
JayR Cela: torley / ok
Torley Linden: Some words, you just can't help but laugh.
SignpostMarv Martin likes poking fun at the hypocracy of female nipples being offensive but male nipples not being offensive
Wyn Galbraith: Some people need to get out of the box.
Torley Linden: They sound so funny... "parsimonious" is a good example.
Torley Linden: Heya Emtu!
SignpostMarv Martin: hence why guys won't be able to go topless at SL5B :-P
Zrephel Tokugawa gave you Zrephel's Realm.
Wyn Galbraith always wondered about that SignpostMary.
Squirrel Wood: And some people (griefers are a prime example) are so narrow minded, they can look through a keyhole with both eyes at the same time.
Daedalus Young: apparently in NYC it's legal for women to go topless
Wyn Galbraith: LOL Squirrel.
Torley Linden: Squirrel, that's an interesting way to put it.
Daedalus Young: Laetizia blogged about that a good while ago
Emtu Pfeffer: Hiya Torley. Nice to meet you. I just happened across this group randomly.
Torley Linden: Oh cool Emtu!
Torley Linden: I like serendipitous encounters.
Wyn Galbraith: I feel bad for people like that. Life must be very restricted for them.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Blip!
SignpostMarv Martin: and apparently it's legal for topless saleswoman in liverpool, but only in fish stores
Torley Linden: Weird laws of the world. XD
Emtu Pfeffer: I like your tips of the week.
Wyn Galbraith loves Serendity, "As you know."
SignpostMarv Martin: must be some weirdness about mermaids
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/13199
Wyn Galbraith: SL is Serendity Life.
Squirrel Wood: No brain, no headache!
Wyn Galbraith has a mermaid av too.
Rex Cronon: talking about tips torley, could u provide a text version of your videos?
Torley Linden: Rex, I've been thinking of having someone to help me with that... or do transcriptions or something.
JayR Cela: hey tips of the week is total koolness / but we need stability
Torley Linden: I know some deaf Residents suggested the same thing to me.
Phoenixa Sol: wow, that's a big job
Zrephel Tokugawa: Very little bothers me, save that which harms others without their consent.
Torley Linden: JayR: I'm also working on stability-related stuff, that's what my meeting after this is about.
Torley Linden: (Linden meeting.)
Wyn Galbraith: You need someone to transcribe your videos Torley.
JayR Cela: and that is an issue that i am shure you are working on
SignpostMarv Martin: Aren't your videos posted under CC Torley ?
Torley Linden: Marv: Does YouTube allow that?
Zrephel Tokugawa: I keep hearing random bits of music. Where's that coming from?
Torley Linden: I know blip.tv does...
Phoenixa Sol: here's a notecard for a later read Torley
Squirrel Wood: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/MISC-632 (Yes, I know I am quite annoying with this one) Vote for a better user experience ^^
Torley Linden: Zrephel, it's a little vinyl record on the upper floor.
Wyn Galbraith: Ah, that would be cool.
SignpostMarv Martin: youtube sucks ass :-P
Rex Cronon: i don't think u need a transcript of the whole video
Torley Linden: Yeah... I know our Documentation Dynamic Duo, Jeremy and Jon, are busy working on many articles.
Phoenixa Sol gave you to Torley about music.
Phoenixa Sol: youtube works fine for what it is
JayR Cela: hey / we a second lifers
Torley Linden: When possible tho, I do quick text versions.
Torley Linden: Thanks for the notecard, Phoenixa.
Phoenixa Sol: bliptv does have better quality
Phoenixa Sol: ymw Torley
JayR Cela: if ya dont like it leave
Wyn Galbraith needs to get motived to start writing again.
Torley Linden: I'm fleshing out my wiki page with various bits and pieces @ http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/User:Torley_Linden
SignpostMarv Martin: if there isn't an interface element for adding a license to a video, you can just post a link in the video description saying "this content is released under such and such a license"
Phoenixa Sol: so.. when's your piano tuning coming to tune that gorgeous piano you have?
Emtu Pfeffer: I like the free camera tip, more people need to know about that. (I found it out myself before the video, though.)
Torley Linden: Haha... I haven't had my main piano tuned in YEARS.
Phoenixa Sol: wow hi Psyra!
Phoenixa Sol: lovely avi
Zrephel Tokugawa: Psyra!
Psyra Extraordinaire: Afternoon. :>
Torley Linden: Thanks Emtu, I often think of times where people go "I wish I knew this earlier! AGRH!!"
Daedalus Young: I usually just go with a (cc) in my vid's credits
Torley Linden: Heya Psyra!
Wyn Galbraith: I'd expect Torley to tune it :)
SignpostMarv Martin: how've you been Psyra ?
Psyra Extraordinaire: Re-hiya. :>
Torley Linden: Haha, "rehiya" sounds like a 2nd kung-fu move!
Psyra Extraordinaire: Been good, you too? heard you've gotten promoted, but not to what. :D
Daedalus Young: ReHiYa, sounds like an SL colne
Torley Linden: HAHAHA.
Daedalus Young: clone
Torley Linden: Psyra, from who? :D
Psyra Extraordinaire: HipPoHi? o.o
Emtu Pfeffer: It's quite surprising how far you can get your camera from your avatar.
Torley Linden: I wasn't aware of that. LOL.
SignpostMarv Martin: heard who got promoted
Torley Linden: Yeah Emtu, I like cranking draw distance up... and camscanning all the way across the landscape.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Oh, wait, wrong person. Thought it was you Marv. :D
SignpostMarv Martin is working on his evil plan to get hired :-P
SignpostMarv Martin: MUHAHAHAA
Rex Cronon: maybe u could take a look at this link torley: http://otenth.homefries.org/archives/195
Torley Linden: *checks*
Phoenixa Sol: lol, I got promoted to taking dance to all new heights in SL,
Emtu Pfeffer: I just recently upgraded my computer enough to be able to mostly smoothly handle a draw distance of 128. ;)
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Torley Linden: Hey Rex, that's appreciated! I should link to that in my next blog post... =)
Torley Linden: Thanks!
Torley Linden: Looks like you're already doing a good job of this.
Emtu Pfeffer: Ooh, I like your variant of the multi chair
Psyra Extraordinaire: Anteater on premises. :D
Torley Linden: Haha, anteaters have loooong snouts.
Rex Cronon: np. i got that from comment #70 in your latest post
Psyra Extraordinaire: All right, I already love that, first anteater I've seen in SL. :D
SignpostMarv Martin: good thing SamBivalent Spork isn't here :-P
McPhenius Swain: lol
Torley Linden: Why's that, Marv?
Torley Linden: McPhenius, great av!
SignpostMarv Martin: Sam is a giant Ant
McPhenius Swain: well credit to Satu Moreau, she made it :)
Torley Linden: Oooh neat.
SignpostMarv Martin: Satu rawks
Torley Linden: Wow, flexi-tongue too!
Phoenixa Sol: nice job
McPhenius Swain: ok, so not going there
SignpostMarv Martin: ah,
SignpostMarv Martin: speaking of flexies, any eta on flexi sculpties ?
Torley Linden: I don't have an ETA on that, nor do I know of any work being done on that.
Torley Linden: Periapse and Qarl would be the Lindens t o ask.
Rex Cronon: wow. is that a phoenix psyra. very nice bird:)
Psyra Extraordinaire: Drat, I never got a copy of Piper's giant ant avvie. ;D
Daedalus Young: I know they would first fix all the current bugs with sculptiea
Daedalus Young: s
SignpostMarv Martin: http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=191279&sort=Pictures.PictureID+desc&Search=sambivalent+spork
Phoenixa Sol: it is a gorgeous avi
Daedalus Young: so now in the RC we can have lossless upload for that, for example
SignpostMarv Martin: sculptie issue in need of votes: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-1452
Torley Linden: I haven't tried that yet, Daed.
Emtu Pfeffer: Any word on getting sculpties' bounding boxes to match the sculpted shape?
Torley Linden: Wow fun ant av fer sure.
SignpostMarv Martin: "capture prim linkset into single sculptie"
Daedalus Young: me neither :P
Psyra Extraordinaire: Oops, votes. Thought you said 'voles'... :D
SignpostMarv Martin: ^posted by Qarl btw
Torley Linden: Emtu: I don't know about that one either but we're working on Havok 4 still and there's prolly some conducive work to be done there.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Though they WOULD go with the anteaters!
SignpostMarv Martin: Emtu: the OpenSim team are working on that as well
SignpostMarv Martin: the idea of using megaprim sculpties as terrain got tossed around a while back
Wyn Galbraith loves Sporks.
Torley Linden: Oh neat Marv, have you been involved with OpenSim a lot?
Psyra Extraordinaire: WE use megaprim sculpties as terrain in Avaria....
Torley Linden: I've just heard bits and pieces but haven't really checked it out myself yet.
SignpostMarv Martin: I poke my head in the IRC channel a lot
Psyra Extraordinaire: ...... but due to their bounding boxes we usually have to make them phantom and then use invisible prims to form the actual collission planes.
Wyn Galbraith: I've never joined the IRC thing.
Emtu Pfeffer: Yeah, that's how most people do sculptie stairs.
Wyn Galbraith: Think it's worth doing now?
Torley Linden: Last time I was in the IRC channel was many moons ago.
Emtu Pfeffer: It knocks a set of stairs down to 2 prims, though.
Zrephel Tokugawa: The Grendel's Children sims have the best atmosphere and design of any region I've seen in SL.
Torley Linden: Yeah, I really like what sculpties has done for stairs...
Torley Linden: and they can look more organic, too.
Daedalus Young: and better to walk on
Wyn Galbraith: I've got Trillian and all the other messengers, even ICQ, but just never got into IRC.
Daedalus Young: the normal prim stairs took more time to climb
Wyn Galbraith: I tried doing stairs but you couldn't walk up them.
SignpostMarv Martin tries to find the linky on something he developed that Adam implemented on Deep Grid
Phoenixa Sol just wishes she could wear more huds, more huds, more dances
Emtu Pfeffer: You have to put an invisible ramp inside, Wyn.
Wyn Galbraith: I did them wrong I think. Besides in SL why do you need stairs, except to look good.
Wyn Galbraith: Ah, the secret.
Emtu Pfeffer: For sculpted stairs, anyway
SignpostMarv Martin: ah
SignpostMarv Martin: well
SignpostMarv Martin: with sculpted stairs,
Wyn Galbraith: Will that keep it one prim?
Emtu Pfeffer: For prim stairs, they are often hard to walk up.
SignpostMarv Martin: if you had the ability to taper sculpties, you could make those work
Rex Cronon: 2 wyn
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/13200
Psyra Extraordinaire: Some people prefer to have .... stair-ey stairs, rather than ramps, for realism. :D
SignpostMarv Martin: un-tapered, you'd have a completely whacky looking prim
Wyn Galbraith: I saw a ramp who's texture was stair like, worked very well.
SignpostMarv Martin: taper and shear it, and you end up with a triangular physics shell
Emtu Pfeffer: Some of the stuff people have done with sculpties is amazing.
Psyra Extraordinaire: sculpted stairs would have to be two prims. One prim for the stairs, one for the collission on it.
Emtu Pfeffer: Exactly, Psyra.
Zrephel Tokugawa: I think Ocarina of TIme used textured ramps to imitate stairs.
SignpostMarv Martin: unfortunately, we don't have taper, twist or shear on scultpies for some strange reason :-P
Wyn Galbraith has a nice looking vase that you can put things in.
McPhenius Swain: I believe Bill Stirling used them on his cruise ship as well (ramps_
Zrephel Tokugawa: I haven't made any sculpties yet.
Wyn Galbraith: My first sculpty was a vase.
Psyra Extraordinaire: As far as SL is concerned those stairs are still a cube object for colliding.
Torley Linden: I remember first seeing Bill Stirling's builds in 2004.
Wyn Galbraith: Is a vase.
Phoenixa Sol doesn't built, nor script.
Torley Linden: I don't like bumpy stairs that make lots of noise.
Emtu Pfeffer: I haven't either. I'm terrible with traditional 3D programs.
Emtu Pfeffer: I build some, I script some.
Psyra Extraordinaire: That's one thing that should be suggested...
McPhenius Swain: I worked for him for 6 months, truly impressive builds
Wyn Galbraith: Phoenixa, some one needs to be the audiance.
Wyn Galbraith doesn't make music but she's a listener.
Psyra Extraordinaire: oh, wait, isn't there alreayd a script property one can use to turn off collission sounds with an object?
Phoenixa Sol: I create dance videos, dance moves and take dance as far as I can in secondlife, film and host em on youtube and thanks to torley.. bliptv
SignpostMarv Martin: http://www.deepgrid.com/data/llsd/map
Zrephel Tokugawa: I do semi-abstract builds, script a lot, play with textures and effeects some.
Wyn Galbraith: I do have three of my children who make music though.
SignpostMarv Martin designed the spec for that data format
Emtu Pfeffer: I've seen in-world scultipe builders, but they tend to use a ridiculous number of prims. (I'm talking 1000 or more.)
Psyra Extraordinaire: Snurb. :D
Emtu Pfeffer: *sculptie
Torley Linden: Emtu, I've used the SnurbO'Matic by Anjin Meiji, which sounds like that.
Wyn Galbraith: That's crazy, cause sculpties are suppose to help cut prims.
Wyn Galbraith: Hey kitty!
Emtu Pfeffer: I found a free one, but I forget the name.
Wyn Galbraith: Kitty with a cookie.
Phoenixa Sol: I wish we could have a choice on uploading anims for our avi not to return to start position. Truly, making a gymnastics vault will be difficult.
Wyn Galbraith: And big fangs.
Torley Linden: Hmmm I wonder what it is, Emtu.
Daedalus Young: it's only for the creation though
Torley Linden: I wish getting off of chairs and poseballs etc. was more graceful.
Wyn Galbraith oos, "Big roar too."
Zrephel Tokugawa: Oh yeah, SL could totally use native AO support.
Ganesha Xi: =D
Phoenixa Sol: yes, me too Torley
Emtu Pfeffer: it's called "InWorld Sculptor Tool Kit".
Phoenixa Sol: sometimes I get ejected out of a skybox getting up from a poseball, lol
Torley Linden: Zrephel, I know Cube Linden has expressed interest in implementing that. OLD wish.
Zrephel Tokugawa: That seems like one of those "why hasn't that been done already" features.
SignpostMarv Martin: Phonixa: anims that don't physically move you combined with scripts that move you = non-sucky gymnastics vault
Torley Linden: Who's it by, Emtu?
Ganesha Xi: torley, i absolutely love the new vids on your site =)
Torley Linden: Aw Ganesha, thanks! Great to see ya here.
Emtu Pfeffer: The BlackBox
Torley Linden: I am having a lot of fun with it, it's really rewarding.
Ganesha Xi: simply beautiful
Torley Linden: *writes down name*
Wyn Galbraith: When things get stable Torley, then we can get graceful dismounts going. One thing I noticed though, if I have fight assist on I realoy shot up after standup.
Emtu Pfeffer: er, TheBlack Box
Emtu Pfeffer: Got the spacing wrong
Torley Linden: What an enigmatic name.
Wyn Galbraith uses the MystiTool flight assist.
Torley Linden: Wyn: Hm, yeah I know that happens with some flight assists...
Emtu Pfeffer: I think that's one of the people that made Wonder Chairs
Damani Roadster 0.50 - watermelon: You are not the owner...
Torley Linden: Ganesha, adorable avatar.
Ganesha Xi: tankees =D
Daedalus Young: yes, it's from Tech Expo island
Wyn Galbraith: Took me a while to figure that one out.
Phoenixa Sol: well marv, the visual of doing the run, a vault, a landing, and then gliding backwards through the vault to the start poition was too traumatic to think of, lol
Wyn Galbraith loves the lion.
Emtu Pfeffer: It's no mod no transfer, but you can probably take a copy anyway, I think, Torley.
Ganesha Xi: =D ty ty
Phoenixa Sol: for now, just working on all the basic techique moves of both gymnastics and ballet keeps me busy
Zrephel Tokugawa: Apparently you can use llSetLinkPrimitiveParams to change the position of an av that's sitting on something? Or so I've heard.
Torley Linden: I'd better seek out the source, and thanks.
Daedalus Young: here's TheBlack Box's info: http://techexpoisland.com/trader-directory/advanced-building-materials
SignpostMarv Martin: yar
Emtu Pfeffer: Ok, no prob.
Torley Linden: Great, thanks Daed. Ahhh good links
SignpostMarv Martin: Squirrel has something which demos that
Torley Linden: linkylinkylinky!
Wyn Galbraith: Do you have a store Phoenixa?
Squirrel's Fortune Cookie: Here's some wisdom for you:
Squirrel's Fortune Cookie: A soft drink turneth away company.
Ganesha Xi: shall i put on a watermelomane? =D
Phoenixa Sol: I have a vendor at winged isle, it's on my classified tab on my profile
Phoenixa Sol: and ty for asking
Wyn Galbraith wishes we had a make landmark from pick button.
SignpostMarv Martin: click the ply sphere :-P
Torley Linden: Wyn: We did, many moons ago. We may again after doing a Search revamp...
Multi Gadget v1.52.0 by Timeless Prototype
Wyn Galbraith: Can I get your card Phoenixa so I can look later?
Torley Linden: Oh gosh Marv that's crazy.
Torley Linden: "Watermelomane"?!
Ganesha Xi: XD
Wyn Galbraith: Watermelonmania
Zrephel Tokugawa: Speaking of interface issues, why the heck isn't there a "invite to current group" in the pie menu?
Wyn Galbraith: Watermelomania
Psyra Extraordinaire: "watermelontonin" :D
McPhenius Swain: speaking of watermelons.. I have to get a picture of one for you Torley
Daedalus Young: there is now in the RC
Torley Linden: Zrephel: Hm, I wonder if that'd get used a lot?
Ganesha Xi bets torley wins for the linden that gets the most cool stuff due to the watermelon fetish
Daedalus Young: add to group in the pie menu
Torley Linden: :D :D :D :D
Torley Linden: LOL Ganesha I just like making it very simple.
McPhenius Swain: Satu who made this AV has them all over her land
Ganesha Xi: =D
SignpostMarv Martin: hypothetically speaking, you can fit up to 100 people on a single prim
Wyn Galbraith can never go by a watermelon field anymore without thinking about Torley.
Ganesha Xi: satu is amazing
Torley Linden: I like memorability... if you don't remember something, then, it's like it never existed!
Torley Linden: Hahaha.
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Torley Linden: I haven't talked to Satu in awhile but her flights of fancy and imagination are great.
Ganesha Xi: hehe
Wyn Galbraith: Thanks
SignpostMarv Martin pokes people in the direction of https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/User_talk:Torley_Linden#Watermelon_Watch
Phoenixa Sol: ymw
Zrephel Tokugawa: Whenever I want to let someone build on my land,I have to pull up the groups menu, expand the person chooser, type in their name...
Wyn Galbraith smiles at Phoenixa.
Ganesha Xi pokes marv back with a rind
Zrephel Tokugawa: But it's in the RC, you said? Awesome.
SignpostMarv Martin: you'll have to catch me first Ganesha :-P
Phoenixa Sol smiles back at Wyn
Ganesha Xi: omg i think i'm going to EAT some watermelon! XD
Zrephel Tokugawa: Renderglow crashes me with the RC for some reason.
Daedalus Young: yes, so you should have it in the next official release :)
Phoenixa Sol: Torley, sometime you should have a dance office hour!
Torley Linden: Zrephel: You're not the only one, it's problematic...
Torley Linden: Glow is stable in WindLight.
Torley Linden: And a per-texture build parameter.
SignpostMarv Martin: llSetLinkPrimitiveParams() kicks llSitTarget()'s ass
Zrephel Tokugawa: That's gonna be great.
Torley Linden: So those wanting to actually use it more granularly should wait for WindLight.
Torley Linden: Haha I love eating watermelons.
SignpostMarv Martin: ah, btw;
Torley Linden: Dance office hour party eh? I'd be up for that... this place is kinda tight... maybe I should build a club.
SignpostMarv Martin: has the whole "you can't fly through the cloud layer" thing been fixed ?
Zrephel Tokugawa: Will we get a glow parameter for particle effects too? some of my effects look so much better with it...
Yaco Despres: Torley, i received your suggestion of either hovering or focusing on a texture to make it load faster. I think that would be a good tip for one of your weekly tips videos.
Rex Cronon: inside a big carved out watermellon:)
Phoenixa Sol: oh but your handdrawn office looks big enough, or down on the ground even
Emtu Pfeffer: SignpostMarv: It works fine if you have a flight booster.
Torley Linden: Ah yes Yaco, I think I could mention that, it's pretty simple and straightforward. It's on my list of ideas.
Torley Linden: Phoenixa, ah that's not mine, it's Jesse's.
Daedalus Young: we can dance on the Pooley stage
McPhenius Swain gave you Watermelon patch.
McPhenius Swain: That is Satu's melons :)
Torley Linden: Thanks McPhenius!
Phoenixa Sol: ooooh
Torley Linden: I haven't been to Pooley in so long...
Torley Linden: Ah yes, Satu gave me one of those melon homes!
SignpostMarv Martin: Sooly Fooly kinda sucked in that you couldn't fly above the clouds
Yaco Despres: I have been doing that today, and it works wonders, especially when alt-clicking on something.
Phoenixa Sol: dont mind me, it's just dance addiction, permeates everything
McPhenius Swain: Cool
Torley Linden: What is t his Sooly Fooly you speak of?
Yaco Despres: It even works on avatar textures!
SignpostMarv Martin: Sooly Fooly = SLFL = Second Life First Look
SignpostMarv Martin: as in FLCL
Torley Linden: Yaco: Oh great to hear it's visibly making a difference for you. It isn't well-documented enough, and I agree it should be spread wider.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Well, without flight assist you couldn't really, you were hardlimited to about 200m
Torley Linden: Hahaha Marv! That's a great anime connection.
Psyra Extraordinaire: then gravity wouldn't let you go further. :D
Torley Linden: What do you guys think of the vertical flight limit without flight assist?
Phoenixa Sol: hahah, me? no limits!!!!
SignpostMarv Martin: Psyra: you're limited to about 175m above ground level
Ganesha Xi: watermelomane just for torley =D
Emtu Pfeffer: Hm. I used Voice FL for a while, and I hit no cloud ceiling.
Daedalus Young: oh, and selecting and copying text from Group Notices works too, that's so great :)
Yaco Despres: Hmmm.... in fact i've just done it on your Tee, which had not finished loading since i arrived <grin>
Torley Linden: YES DAED! Haha, I reported that eons ago, I'm glad it's out.
Psyra Extraordinaire: well, you can climb to mebbe 210m before you're overwhelmed by gravity and pushed back down to 200m tops. :ED
Rex Cronon: what i don't like is that if u high and u start flying, u r doing it at a very high speed
Zrephel Tokugawa: Kinda useless, IMO... Worse though is the bizzare speed boost at high altitude flight.
Ganesha Xi: i heard a pixshur
SignpostMarv Martin: SL4B was at about 512m base altitude
Phoenixa Sol has Gaynor Gritzi's jet pack
SignpostMarv Martin: people could fly fine
Emtu Pfeffer: I would be in favor of a customizable maximum flight height, but that would be impractical in areas with a lot of small parcels.
Emtu Pfeffer: Maybe an estate option?
SignpostMarv Martin: or 256
Wyn Galbraith hides her camera.
SignpostMarv Martin: i forget
Ganesha Xi: hehe
Torley Linden: I personally think the vertical flight limit should be removed because we can use the World Map to teleport higher, anyway.
Daedalus Young: If you want really high altitudes, watch my video :P
Torley Linden: It doesn't make much sense...
SignpostMarv Martin: unassisted flight limit is good as it prevents you getting lost
Torley Linden: Haha Daed.
Phoenixa Sol: I agree torley
Daedalus Young: I went up to 1 million meters for your enjoyment
Wyn Galbraith has a flight feather too.
McPhenius Swain: lol
Psyra Extraordinaire: We build our places at 250m, but keep some "landable areas" at 190m so people can get into them if they don't teleport/use FA
SignpostMarv Martin: if you want to fly higher, there's lots of freebies that allow you to do so
Yaco Despres: Oh Daedalus the million meters video was yours? it was awesome...
Ganesha Xi: i find putting on a super zoom flight stick is hugely fun occasionally to fly up 3000m
Daedalus Young: yes, it is
Daedalus Young: thanks :)
Emtu Pfeffer: I've done that too; there was a free HUD given out at SLRFL that did that.
Zrephel Tokugawa: Being that the limit's overcome trivially with a four-line script anyway, or freely available attachements...
Wyn Galbraith: I like building up and then leaving the land like a park.
Rex Cronon: what is the highest high u can get to?
Torley Linden: Marv: What's the easiest way to get one of those freebies? How have you been explaining that to new Residents?
Torley Linden watches as Marv goes in circles around.
Emtu Pfeffer: I have a Multi Gadget for my flight boosting.
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Daedalus Young: I did it using Brussels Airlines b.places HUD
Psyra Extraordinaire: I remember using Beatfox Xevious' super orbiter to get to about 267 billion up. :D
Zrephel Tokugawa: I have my own Impulse Booster script, naturally. :P
Sabina Stenvaag: i give lndmarks to crystal gadgest
Wyn Galbraith: A flight feather? I can give you a copy and you just hand it out.
Emtu Pfeffer: It has three settings: slow, fast, and god.
Torley Linden: I went on a new account to test and looked for a free flight script and I was stumped inworld! I eventually headed to the scripting forums to copy and paste one, arghhh.
Daedalus Young: it says you're going at 250m per seconds
Wyn Galbraith gives it to most newbies she runs into.
SignpostMarv Martin: ^22 million meters in that snapshot
Psyra Extraordinaire: So high up your avatar would horribly deform. :D
Ganesha Xi: haha
Zrephel Tokugawa: Due to float imprecision errors?
Torley Linden: Wyn, please do — flight feather, that is!
Daedalus Young: If I go above 1 million, my avatar disappears from view
Yaco Despres: I used the flight band first, then a Multi Tool, and now i'm using the MystiTool, which contains A LOT of very useful features, including a flight assistant.
SignpostMarv Martin uses the Multi-Gadget
Ganesha Xi: i use perfectsl hud
Wyn Galbraith: Because I tend to do my best building over the cloud limit.
Emtu Pfeffer: MG is an awesome device.
Ganesha Xi: i used mg but it really started irritating me
Wyn Galbraith: Clouds can still bluescreen me.
SignpostMarv Martin: Torley: flight level restriction should be a parcel-level limit
Zrephel Tokugawa: ...Anyone else here use my Impulse Booster?
Ganesha Xi: due to the "ear dick" getting in my way, among other things
Rex Cronon: i made my own thing
SignpostMarv Martin: since you can toggle whether or not people can fly via the About Land dialog,
Emtu Pfeffer: It rarely gets in my way anymore.
Torley Linden: "Ear dick"!?!?
Emtu Pfeffer: View transparent, Torley
Ganesha Xi: ya that giant invisible toothpick
Emtu Pfeffer: Look at the side of my head
SignpostMarv Martin: you could replace that with a "limit unassisted flight to x meters"
Rex Cronon: is possible to fly in a nofly zone
SignpostMarv Martin: setting it to 0 would disable flight
Ganesha Xi: that multigadget stick in your body
Psyra Extraordinaire: Hmmm....
SignpostMarv Martin: the default enabled would be 175
Torley Linden: Haha that's the first time I've heard it described like that.
SignpostMarv Martin: ^as it is now
Ganesha Xi: i didn't name it, ask timeless p XD
Ganesha Xi: he's the one that called it that
Wyn Galbraith: LOL
Emtu Pfeffer: hahahaha
SignpostMarv Martin: setting it to 4096 should be the maximum allowable input value
Ganesha Xi blames marv
SignpostMarv Martin: since that's the highest level objects can be created at
SignpostMarv Martin: any higher than that and you should be using assisted flight
Zrephel Tokugawa: If the goal of the flight ceiling is to keep newbies from getting lost, just have a "limit flight height" checkbock in preferences that's on be default and save us all an attachemtn point.
Object: Hello, Avatar!
Wyn Galbraith: 767m I think
Ganesha Xi: hey torley did you ever get those textures to TG?
Phoenixa Sol: good idea that
Emtu Pfeffer: I ran across a guy once who made a HUD that allowed building floors above the 768(?)m limit
Wyn Galbraith: Actually maybe 767.5
Rex Cronon: u can't rezz anything above that height?
Torley Linden: Ganesha, I sure sent them out as requested... earlier today yes! I didn't put them in a freebie place yet tho.
Wyn Galbraith: You can, but it doesn't stay.
Ganesha Xi: great
Emtu Pfeffer: It rezzed the floor as physical and immediately made it non-phys
Wyn Galbraith has tried
Zrephel Tokugawa: You can rez above 768, but nonphys movement gets clamped back down to z=768
Wyn Galbraith: WAnted a hideway at 1000m.
Emtu Pfeffer: Phys turned nonphys can exist above 768
Zrephel Tokugawa: I've had a private build at 100m before.
Ganesha Xi: i'd offer for you to put them in his place... but i dunno if his auto return would be overridden by the name "linden"
Zrephel Tokugawa: *1000
Squirrel Wood: You can build above 768m but not move anything. It has to stay where rezzed. else it will be moved down to 768m
SignpostMarv Martin: llRezObject( in attachments allows you to place non-phys objects up to 4096m
Emtu Pfeffer: That
SignpostMarv Martin goes and files JIRA feature request
Torley Linden: Ganesha: It wouldn't be... unless I belonged to a land group, but next time he checks inventory he should see it. =)
Ganesha Xi: i think he'll be a lot more inspired to build though with neat, fun textures
Wyn Galbraith: I made a sphere once that stayed for a while.
Torley Linden: Lots of great convo about flight and such great heights here.
Phoenixa Sol: smiles.. if it can be flown, it can be danced in
Wyn Galbraith is glad building high is no longer taxed
Ganesha Xi: i'd like to talk about why marv is spazzing all over the land of happiness
Zrephel Tokugawa: I made a script that moves to the coordinates you specify in phys mode, and rezzes whatever object it has at that position.
SignpostMarv Martin: Torley: would might idea go under SVC,VWR or MISC ?
Rex Cronon: what is the height above which physical objects are returned if they pass it?
Emtu Pfeffer: 768
SignpostMarv Martin: Rex: 4096
Torley Linden: Marv: I think I lost track of which thread you're talking about, which idea?
Emtu Pfeffer: Oh phys?
Zrephel Tokugawa: I don
Emtu Pfeffer: yeah, 4096
Wyn Galbraith: Oh I have a Jira question.
Rex Cronon: physical
Torley Linden: Please ask!
Rex Cronon: thank you
Zrephel Tokugawa: 4096 is the "off-world" ceining? Never knew that.
Zrephel Tokugawa: ceiling
Psyra Extraordinaire: A new life awaits you in the off-world colonies...
SignpostMarv Martin: the "replace the checkbox for disabling non-assisted flight with a float-value input field for setting maximum flight altitude (relative to ground level)" thing
Torley Linden: Haha, that's Blade Runner!
Wyn Galbraith: My inventory idea, I was going to add it as a new feature idea, but not sure what catagory to put it under.
Psyra Extraordinaire: =D
SignpostMarv Martin: it's a UI mod + a Service thing
Wyn Galbraith loved Blade Runner.
Torley Linden: Marv, hmmm... good question... SVC sounds fine I think.
Emtu Pfeffer: I noticed that (most) temp objects that go off-world don't actually return, they just expire, That's a good idea.
Wyn Galbraith likes Waterworld too, go figure.
Torley Linden: Wyn: What was your inventory idea?
Phoenixa Sol: smiles, the skoopf skates, just had those on at a 50s skate party the other day, tough to mod them, but I finally got them all choice with my poofy dress
Wyn Galbraith: That's what I thought SVC.
Wyn Galbraith: Thanks Torley.
SignpostMarv Martin wants FTP login to inventory :-P
Torley Linden: =)
Emtu Pfeffer: Yeah, I adjusted them a bit.
Daedalus Young: any changes svc related that need ui changes are still svc changes
Torley Linden: Eventually I'd like to sort inventory easier.
Emtu Pfeffer: They were too chunky for me.
Daedalus Young: ui is secondary
SignpostMarv Martin: such as via an FTP program Torley ? :-P
Zrephel Tokugawa: There's a difference, though. Nofly diesn't let you enter flight mode, while the ceiling just doubles your weight.
Wyn Galbraith: Oh it's to create references to items in inventory instead of moving or making a new copy when creating new outfits.
Torley Linden: OH gosh, I apologize I must leave early for my next (Linden) meeting... I'd like to thank all you guys for being here with me today at my Office Hour! Hope you all have a great weekend. :)
McPhenius Swain: tc
Wyn Galbraith: Take care Torley.
Emtu Pfeffer: You too, Torley.
Phoenixa Sol: take care torley, ty
Daedalus Young: ok Torley, thanks
SignpostMarv Martin: Simulation component ?
Phoenixa Sol: someday, lets dance!
Daedalus Young: have fun and say hi to your fellow Lindens
Emtu Pfeffer: I'll try to make it to another of these sometime.
SignpostMarv Martin: or would it be physics
Torley Linden: Thanks, bye for now. :D
