Torley Linden: Tamasin, oh, we've wanted to add higher groups for awhile but there's both a (1) social and (2) technical and (3) educational side to that. Where's the petition?

Torley Linden: (1) social = figuring, from Linden Lab's perspective, how to make this part of a better Premium (or otherwise "higher") account offering so it's an incentive for people who want many groups
SunQueen Ginsberg: ooo, we do need more group ability!
Torley Linden: That's a "theoretical possibility" and may not actually happen, but it's still a consideration.
SunQueen Ginsberg: It's very limiting the way it is
tracey Oppewall: i know me and my friends are always wanting more groups
Torley Linden: (2) technical = it isn't as easy as just setting a number in the system to "50 groups". When groups were increased from 15 to 25... Kelly had to work hard on figuring out how to transmit that info within packet size limits (I think) without data getting lost.
SunQueen Ginsberg: If you just joing the technical groups, there's no room for anything else!
Torley Linden: and (3) some folks don't know that you can actually sort of create groups-within-a-group using the Roles system. For example, instead of a club needing a new group for VIPs, they can create a "VIP Role" within the main group.

Torley Linden: If a feature like this does happen, it'll likely be part of a bigger group revamp project including other hoped-for wishes for groups.

Torley Linden: We've heard of folks having the missing skirts, but whenever I or another enginer has tried to make it happen on Linden Lab systems, the skirts show up fine. So I've been asking for specific configurations, perhaps to narrow down the list of affected GPUs.
