Torley Linden: I AM SO SORRY I'M LATE!
Gwendolyn Cassini: Yay the man of the hour
Torley Linden: My timetable is all messed up!
Laetizia Coronet: and there he is...
Patchouli Woollahra: Someone could programme a random animal + descriptive tool and use it to find more names.
Chaos Mohr: Torley!!! :)
Chase Marellan: Hi, Torley!
Patchouli Woollahra: Insane Octopus Productions.
AlexanderThe Benelli: Hi torley!
Gwendolyn Cassini: BOOM!
Onder Skall: hi Torley
Laetizia Coronet: hi Tor
Torley Linden: Changes at work and all... next week my office hour changes, at least short-term, to Thursday @ 12 PM... pardon for any inconvenience, I'm trying to find a better work/life balance as they say.
Patchouli Woollahra: Precocious Playtpus Ltd.
Patchouli Woollahra: no biggies.
Torley Linden: Thanx Patch for the reminder!
Gwendolyn Cassini: i understand, got a familly myself too
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Patchouli Woollahra: it gives me an excuse not to stay up friday nights :D
Torley Linden: Good to see you all here!
Torley Linden: Hahaha.
Laetizia Coronet: 12 PM... that is so confusing, is that midday or midnight?
Torley Linden: Laetizia, noon... but I agree, confuzing!
Patchouli Woollahra just opened a Koinup account... http://www.koinup.com/PatchouliWoollahra/works/
Torley Linden: I've heard of Koinup but haven't tried it yet... what attracted you to it, Patch?
Gwendolyn Cassini: either way is fine by me since its either 9 am or 9 pm for me
Patchouli Woollahra: oh a possible prize of L$20,000.
Laetizia Coronet: noon here is... +9 in Europe... hmmm... after dinner. Can't ever make that
Gwendolyn Cassini: ohhh nice
Patchouli Woollahra: that and the fact that I have not had anyone fix my issues with Snapzilla :(
Patchouli Woollahra: so I went to town and took a military styled photo. unlike the half million other residents who misread "Second Life Exotic Contest" as "Second Life EROTIC Contest"
Gwendolyn Cassini actually never used any photosites
Randal Kline: lol
Gwendolyn Cassini: whahahaha Patch
Chase Marellan: hahahaha
Laetizia Coronet: haha... they read what tey want to read
Onder Skall: I'm all about Flickr
stimpy Tripp: (Hi torley)
Ryder Dryke: hello @ all!
Torley Linden: Hey stimpy!
Torley Linden: Hey all!
Chase Marellan: Hey, Ryder
Torley Linden: :O
Torley Linden: What issues did you have with Snapzilla, Patch?
ROMSEY Homewood: :O)
Ryder Dryke: hey chase :)
Gwendolyn Cassini: Torley are you the Linden that takes care of Dazzle?
Laetizia Coronet: I lost my Flickr stuff due to merging with Yahjoo... now I have to sign in w/ real name. Conusing, forget it
AlexanderThe Benelli: Torley, do we have a topic today?
Patchouli Woollahra: I had to abandon my original email address due to email bombardment.
Torley Linden: Gwendolyn, yes, I handle Dazzle community communication!
Gwendolyn Cassini: ah ok
Torley Linden: We never have a single topic Alexander, it's often whatever comes up! ;)
AlexanderThe Benelli: Great
Gwendolyn Cassini: there are some minor annoyances i found with Dazzle
Patchouli Woollahra: I was getting email from unknown and address and my email firewall died.
stimpy Tripp: I assume talking a picture of you is okay, torley?
Torley Linden: Of course it is, stimpy!
Patchouli Woollahra: in other news, I brought grenades and a ticking time bomb to the meeting today.
Gwendolyn Cassini: When dragging an item from a folder to another the folder wont open to show the folder underneath. So you cant drag it into the right folder at once. you need to open the target folder first.
Patchouli Woollahra: ph33r teh neko intifadeh!
Laetizia Coronet: how dare you Stimpy
ROMSEY Homewood eeps.
AlexanderThe Benelli: @Dazzle:Why is the "build" button "highllighted" when i go into mouselook? bug or feature?
Gwendolyn Cassini: I guess I have to check the Jira for that?
Torley Linden: Gwendolyn: Ahh could you please make sure all of that is in the Issue Tracker? I'm definitely going to go over the issues there with our Team Dazzle...
Gwendolyn Cassini: ok cool
Torley Linden: so if anyone has any particular problems with Dazzle, report them @ http://jira.secondlife.com
Torley Linden: Very very important that they're there!
Patchouli Woollahra: omgz, it's a Totorley!
Torley Linden: Thanks. :)
Torley Linden: Hahaha.
Torley Linden: *wiggles*
Torley Linden: First Look: Dazzle issues - http://jira.secondlife.com/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?mode=hide&requestId=11266
Chaos Mohr: Here's one I posted today on Dazzle Torley, search results whacky on Land Search: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-5098
Laetizia Coronet: so wheres your love child?
Harleen Gretzky: Auto expand doesn't work in WL either
Harleen Gretzky: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-5029
Patchouli Woollahra: the server is technically feeding the same results to the client regardless of what the client side is running. so it's probably a presentational error.
Torley Linden: Laetizia, hopefully dead. I'm sick that way!
Ryder Dryke: torley - i read in the wiki about an interessting but suspended project called pupeteering or so ... it should resume in 2008 Q1 ... is this still correct?
stimpy Tripp: I have a question, torley. Has there been any talk of merging some of the opensourced (Nicholaz etc) fixes into the first look viewers? I miss the bug fixes the open devel provide.
Laetizia Coronet: rather... lol
Patchouli Woollahra: which would be par for the course considering Dazzle is attempting to change SL's presentational aspects.
Torley Linden: Thanks Chaos, I've heard of that before and I don't think it's just Dazzle... have you checked elsewhere?
Chaos Mohr: it's using a dual sort query for some reason on that for presentation
Torley Linden: Ryder: Yes, suspended because it wasn't high enough on priorities.
Gwendolyn Cassini: yeah or implement windlight into Dazzle.
Chaos Mohr: yes, I checked at the same time running multiple clients today only Dazzle was affected
Gwendolyn Cassini: was Dazzle the first viewer opened Chaos, because that can help too
Torley Linden: stimpy: Yes, patches have been included before from the open source community, and they'll continue to be. Not all of them are necessarily what we'd want to put in the "official viewer", hence the healthy alternate viewer choices out there.
Chaos Mohr: first and fourth ;)
stimpy Tripp: I understand, thank you. It is exciting to have the ability to run different viewers. Not always been the case.
stimpy Tripp: I think we all sometimes forget how far we've come.
Torley Linden: Yup, things have opened up... will continue to!
Laetizia Coronet: oh yes stimpy, very true
AlexanderThe Benelli: Torley, something different:Have you talked to whoever responsible about translating your vidtuts?
Gwendolyn Cassini is still reluctant to check third party sites and use third party viewers, always scared for Phishing
Laetizia Coronet: good idea Alexander!
stimpy Tripp: I don't think its a coincidence that in my office I have a Mac SE, an alpha running VMS, and I prefer the 1.18 look of the viewer.
Torley Linden: Alexander: FANTASTIC QUESTION and one that came up yesterday. Yes, the answer is: the International Team at Linden Lab is looking at better ways to provide translations, and that includes vidtuts. I am MORE THAN HAPPY to provide master files for localization!
Gwendolyn Cassini: cool
AlexanderThe Benelli: great!
Patchouli Woollahra: God forbid Torley does a vidtut in Cantonese.
Torley Linden: I haven't been asked yet to submit/share any resources but I'm ready when the International Team is.
Laetizia Coronet: I am sure the Mentor Linguists might be able to help with that - thing is, you need recording capability. Or subtitles of course
Torley Linden: LOL Patch.
Gwendolyn Cassini: Ill be more than happy to help translating it into Dutch
Laetizia Coronet: lmao
Igel Hawks: Oh, really Torley߀
Torley Linden: Thanks, the world has so many languages and Second Life is so international.
Patchouli Woollahra: it'll probably wind up like a particular clip I once faved.
Laetizia Coronet: Gwen... ik ook :) het is mijn vak
Patchouli Woollahra: lemme find it.
Onder Skall: oh that reminds me, I loved Torley's David Lynch video. :)
Igel Hawks: Who is responsible for the translations at LL?
AlexanderThe Benelli: Im german..and i think i know a nice "voice" (a german dj)
Laetizia Coronet: yeah Onder, me too! :D
stimpy Tripp: Walking around the newbie islands shows SL really is getting international.
Gwendolyn Cassini: hahaha yeah that video is hilarious! Torley for president!
Patchouli Woollahra: Oh yes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyQrI0ONggY
Laetizia Coronet: I think it's easier to provide subtitles though, no recording needed
Patchouli Woollahra: it's a popular anime set to some chat in cantonese about what to order for lunch.
Onder Skall: OMG that would make a killer Machinima... "Let's get this nation on track! Torley For President"
Laetizia Coronet hates voice overdubbing anyway
Patchouli Woollahra: The main problem is that Youtube sucks at dynamic subtitling.
Igel Hawks: You know, I tried it last year to bring the translations a bit furtherm, but it ended in a endless circle of mails.
Torley Linden: HAHAHAHA. Thanks for watching that.
AlexanderThe Benelli: Youtube isnt any good for subtitles
Torley Linden: I had such a fun time... being David Lynch.
Torley Linden: I watched original, and that SL iPhone video many times...
Torley Linden: it became an obsession... I knew I had to make one of my own.
Laetizia Coronet: but you said "playing" Tor... tsk tsk
Igel Hawks: hehe
Torley Linden: I'm not terribly political but thanks for the gracious comments.
Patchouli Woollahra: a few days back, I inflicted this upon everyone I knew. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q16KpquGsIc
Torley Linden: Laetizia: Where does it say I can't? What is wrong with "playing"? :)
Patchouli Woollahra: McDonalds.
Patchouli Woollahra: In Japan.
Patchouli Woollahra: Mashup.
Torley Linden: I can play a piano, I can play Second Life.
Torley Linden: Hahah insane Ronald, I dig that.
Laetizia Coronet: Torley, many people keep yelling that it's not a game, whence no playing
Torley Linden: A piano isn't a game, yet I can play it.
Laetizia Coronet: true :)
Torley Linden: A piano can have music games... ;)
Igel Hawks: hehe
Torley Linden: Just like there are games within Second Life!
Patchouli Woollahra: That and Hatsune Miku singing Ievan's Polka while waving a leek. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbbA9BhCTko
Igel Hawks: That's a cool argument Torly
Torley Linden: AWWW HAWT DAMN, I luv leekspin.
Torley Linden: Thanks Igel.
stimpy Tripp: Whoah
Patchouli Woollahra: Play is a natural response to many things from humans.
Laetizia Coronet: Sl is what you want it to be, is what I always say... if you want it to be a game, hey presto!
Torley Linden: Oh I've seen that one before.
Onder Skall: OMG... I'm watching the Ronald McDonald insanity now... woooowww...
Torley Linden: Haha yeah, I think a lot of the crap and nonsense around getting attached to labels is AWFUL.
Torley Linden: Fact of the matter is, I know many people who found SL and enjoy it because they were searching for the word "game".
Patchouli Woollahra: and tagclouding makes things worse at times.
Patchouli Woollahra: SL is not a game!
Igel Hawks: May I bother you? Who is the right person I should speak to about translations?
Laetizia Coronet: SL is a game to a lot of residents
Laetizia Coronet: translations of what Igel?
Patchouli Woollahra: Other things SL is not: a furry gay nazi gorean sadistic self-abusing haven. a flock of cabbages, and my grandma
Gwendolyn Cassini: Sl is an enormous chat box with extremely beautifull avatars
Igel Hawks: Tuts, Articles ....
Gwendolyn Cassini: and nice stuff to create for those avatars
Torley Linden: Igel, I think I have a contact address... let me see here...
Laetizia Coronet: Igel I think that is up to individuals to do
Ryder Dryke: are there plans to translate the knowledge base?
Igel Hawks: Ok, thanks :D
Patchouli Woollahra creates entire avatars for a living.
Laetizia Coronet: oops, spoke too soon
Patchouli Woollahra: I broke even last week.
Chase Marellan: Congratulations1
Igel Hawks: Yes, there are plans.
Torley Linden: Residents are free to create their own translations, but as for *official* ones I know there's a process... lemme see...
Gwendolyn Cassini: yay congratz Patch
Laetizia Coronet: way to go Patch
Patchouli Woollahra: also: a lot of people have been asking me of late about Chatbridge, Chase.
Chase Marellan: Oh yeah?
AlexanderThe Benelli: back to translating the vidtuts *g* Just want to make sure: You would give out the orignial data to a group of residents to have it translated into another language? (subtitles? new audio?)
Laetizia Coronet: as for furry nazi gorean... maybe it;s all that too
Patchouli Woollahra: do you have anything like an official "touch this to look at other chatbridge models" box?
Torley Linden: Alexander: Yes, that's right, after clearing it with International Team. :)
Torley Linden: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/How_to_Localize_Your_World
Patchouli Woollahra: I once met a furry ASHKENazi Gorean though.
Chase Marellan: I have one but it's a little ugly; I'll be happy to go over it with you, though, maybe you have a suggestion
Torley Linden: ^ See that wiki page!
Onder Skall: whoop... I g2g, no rest for the wicked. Sorry for the abrumpt exit - take care!
AlexanderThe Benelli: kk,thx torley
Patchouli Woollahra: maybe sometime tomorrow? I'm going to nap before Hamlet comes on for his interview :D
Igel Hawks: I was attacked last week by some residents who told me that translations done volunteerly take awy the pressure from LL do to something "official".
Patchouli Woollahra: he does one at 12pm today about how SL was concieved.
Chase Marellan: Sure, just ping me, I'm almost always here. :)
Patchouli Woollahra: Oh give me a break.
Patchouli Woollahra: Isn't the point of the volunteer programme to take some pressure off Linden Lab at times?
Laetizia Coronet: yeah and if we all get Linden powers they can pack up and leave :P
Patchouli Woollahra: if we weren't here, LL would have to spend significantly more money educating people on what SL is capable of.
Epocx Timeless: hi there, speaking of translations... is there any info somewhere on percentages of which country the online second life inhabitants are?
Chase Marellan: Igel: I would think that's the point
Torley Linden: Yes, and that does help, especially with niche interests which are asked for but LL can't cover everything.
Gwendolyn Cassini loves the Lindens, without them there wouldnt be a Second Life
Patchouli Woollahra: and what they're obliged to do while in world.
Igel Hawks: This argument throws away half of my translaters.
Igel Hawks: *translators
Torley Linden: Epocx, I had info a long time ago, but not presently. Some Lindens do know.
Patchouli Woollahra: no company should have to shoulder the entire burden on a tool as open as seond life.
Patchouli Woollahra: it's already been established in academic studies.
Laetizia Coronet doesn't love "the" Lindens but appreciates their work and loves some of them :)
Patchouli Woollahra: a user base that educates its own newcomers in part is a userbase that grows faster.
Laetizia Coronet is too damn realistic sometimes
Chase Marellan: that's interesting to know!
AlexanderThe Benelli: afkl
Epocx Timeless: do you remember it torley, even if its outdated?
Patchouli Woollahra: I should know, it was part of my final year thesis in game studies.
Torley Linden: Epocx, no I don't, it was in the forums ages ago... !
Torley Linden: Maybe if you search for it, Epocx. :)
Laetizia Coronet: Patch and yet... I find myself wondering why I should volunteer on behalf of a profit making corporation. Would you do that for the local supermarket, keep clients in?
AlexanderThe Benelli: back
Chase Marellan: interesting!
Epocx Timeless: jup thx i'll try =)
Torley Linden: WB!
Moard Ling: I just bought a SLingbox hoping I could reach SL from anywhere
Igel Hawks: Wb Alex
AlexanderThe Benelli: ty
Patchouli Woollahra rubs her forehead.
Patchouli Woollahra: Lae... it's not a matter of earning money.
Torley Linden: I volunteer and do stuff that's work-related but not strictly part of my duties. Video tutorials started off as an unofficial lark because I was spending too much time writing wordy paragraphs and repeating the same answers over again, and I thought it could be way more fun.
Torley Linden: Moard, what's a SLingbox?
AlexanderThe Benelli: @Lae:perhaps because u dont want the only supermarket in ur town to shut down?
Patchouli Woollahra: a poorly capitalised container?
Laetizia Coronet: yes that is a good point Alexander
Patchouli Woollahra: The users know surprising things that the staff don't.
Moard Ling: slingmedia.com, a way of networking your AVs (audio visuals)
Gwendolyn Cassini: id love to volounteer for the Lindens. Still got to look into what types of volounteer progrmas there are
Laetizia Coronet: although I hardly see SL shutting down anytime soon
Igel Hawks: I translated volunteerly with a team the blog entries last year, It was fun and no question of earning money.
Patchouli Woollahra: Recently, my local newspaper spent AU$2000 asking for good recipes from neighbourhood supermarket food.
Patchouli Woollahra: they wound up today with a recipe for pumpkin and chicken laksa.
Igel Hawks: But with this upcomming discussion about "official" or not, most people left the team.
AlexanderThe Benelli: Yep, there are quite a few ppl out there translating the blog....what about a smallish link on the blog to those sites?
stimpy Tripp: Bye!
Chase Marellan: bye stimpy
Igel Hawks: No link from SL sites.
Patchouli Woollahra: which, from what I've done at lunch today, is not something that one would expect, if conventionally trained off a boring staff manual.
Ryder Dryke: aww dont talk of food ... i'm so hungry :(
Patchouli Woollahra: Has torley visited the Pocky sim, I wonder.
Laetizia Coronet: no it's not about earning money, it's about LL which is increasingly corporate in it's attitudes. If you want to play multinational, go the whole 9 yards and pay your staff. If not, stay on the human level I appreciate much more
Torley Linden: POCKY SIM!?!?!?
Torley Linden: Not yet.
Torley Linden: *makes note*
Igel Hawks: LL can not link to outside sources without being seen as responsible for the content there
Patchouli Woollahra: yes, we haz Pocky sim.
Marianne McCann: Pocky Sim?
Torley Linden: We did have a plan to have official translation for our blog, I don't know where that's at now.
Marianne McCann: ooooo
Patchouli Woollahra: Igel: actually, they could.
Patchouli Woollahra: however, the links would need an interceptor or some form of note stating that LL was not responsible for the content on external links.
Laetizia Coronet: yes the Pocky sim is just about the kind of weirdness Torley would like :D
Chase Marellan: Happy rezday, mari!
Patchouli Woollahra: WoW does it all the time.
Marianne McCann: Thankoo, Chase!
Igel Hawks: I repeat the arguments of Lotte and Jean
Patchouli Woollahra: it can be too much fun, actually... witness the horror: http://www.koinup.com/PatchouliWoollahra/work/18877/
Igel Hawks: Cool Pat. I bookmarked it :D
AlexanderThe Benelli: Mhh...im not a lawyer/judge/whatever, but "seen as"-perhaps, but not from the "law point of view"
Patchouli Woollahra: Virtual Hyperglycaemia is Epic Failz :(
Marianne McCann loves the Pocky
Patchouli Woollahra: seen as?
Torley Linden: WHOAAAA.
Torley Linden: What a messed-up picture!
Patchouli Woollahra: oh, give me a break.
Torley Linden: That cracks me up!
AlexanderThe Benelli: @responisble for links to 3rd party websties
Patchouli Woollahra: that was taken in a hut at Pocky representing the manliest main Pocky flavor around...
AlexanderThe Benelli: mhh....test
Patchouli Woollahra: chocolate with bits of biscuit attached to a biscuit stick.
Patchouli Woollahra: they even had beer on the table.
Patchouli Woollahra: ...
Patchouli Woollahra: oh wait... wasn't biscuit pieces... was almond shards.
Patchouli Woollahra: minishards.
Moard Ling: Uhm biscuit on a stick
Laetizia Coronet wonders what Asian beer tastes like
Torley Linden: Haha I've never had Asian beer.
Torley Linden: I don't really drink!
Igel Hawks: It tastes wonderful
Patchouli Woollahra: Tiger Beer has won several awards before, it's a good one to start with.
Igel Hawks: (some of the beers)
Patchouli Woollahra: Kirin rocks too.
Torley Linden: Drinking alcoholic beverages makes me go BLWAGRHHHHH in the worst of ways.
Patchouli Woollahra: and it's cheap.
Torley Linden: I did like the YMO Kirin commercial.
Laetizia Coronet: hmm... I heard of Kirin
Torley Linden: I <3 Yellow Magic Orchestra.
Taiyaki : Sickly Sweet Bean Paste!!
Laetizia Coronet: but italian beer is mostly dross
AlexanderThe Benelli starts 2 sing: "Bayern und das Reinheitsgebot".....
Patchouli Woollahra: one of my new loves in Japanese music is a group called fripSide.
Patchouli Woollahra: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jb59k0HlRWY
Gwendolyn Cassini loves Hertog Jan: the Netherlands best bear ever
Ryder Dryke: hehe ... yeah praise german beer!
Laetizia Coronet: Dreher is the worst, and my mom-in-law keeps thinking I love half litres of it for lunch :P
Moard Ling: Skin and bones turning into something beautiful
Marianne McCann: Sweet Crispy Walnuts! There *is* a pocky sim!
Laetizia Coronet: Gwen, Brand UP... helaas niet meer in originele versie
Moard Ling: Hoegaarden rocks if you can afford it
Patchouli Woollahra: there's also an Atlus sim, if you love medical simulation games.
Laetizia Coronet: Hoegaarden is not too expensive in Holland and Belgium :D
Patchouli Woollahra: in fact, I found my military getup for my koinup pic in one of the surrounding sims.
AlexanderThe Benelli: Hoegaarden? I'm starting to hate it.....
Patchouli Woollahra: http://www.koinup.com/PatchouliWoollahra/work/18879/
Moard Ling: is * medical simulation* getting it on with george ?
Laetizia Coronet: ja wos denn?
Torley Linden: This is fun, how the conversation has moved to food & drink!
Patchouli Woollahra: No, silly.
Torley Linden: How lively!
Patchouli Woollahra: I was thinking of Caudecus.
Gwendolyn Cassini: beer!
Patchouli Woollahra: it's like one of those Nintendo DS games.
Moard Ling: Does a bell ring if you drop the funny bone
Patchouli Woollahra: you slice up a virtual patient, croon anaesthetic out using the microphone, do corrective surgery, sew it up.
AlexanderThe Benelli: lol....this is because we are all nerds who had no food for48h, because we are all sl addicts :P (just joking)
Laetizia Coronet: Torley, how do you people pick names these days?
Patchouli Woollahra: It's not nthat lame.
Gwendolyn Cassini: next week there is a gothic fantasy fair in my neighbourhood, and im plannign to buy some mead (=wine made out of honey) there
Moard Ling: the last nintendo i had was a game and watch called babies
Patchouli Woollahra: agreed, Lae. you guys just picked a Russian playwright named Toirov.
Gwendolyn Cassini: oh whats the name of that game Patch
Epocx Timeless: i dont drink alcoholics lol not even german beer.. if its the best i wonder how worse the rest tasts hahaha
Laetizia Coronet steers ell clear of goth events...
Torley Linden: Laetizia: Second Life last names?
Laetizia Coronet: yes
Gwendolyn Cassini: besides SL i play my NES and DS a lot
Patchouli Woollahra: he once staged a play named "optimistic tragedy". You know, I think tempting fate is not a good hobby.
Torley Linden: Laetizia, basically right now, Jack Linden chooses 'em.
Marianne McCann gave you Rezday Fireworks Invite.
Moard Ling: does the ferry man ever come with baliiffs
Patchouli Woollahra: why don't you go to the Atlus sim? they've signposted them around the sim.
Patchouli Woollahra: Atlus also does the Persona series of games.
Laetizia Coronet: wow, I'd love to talk to him. I thought it was a whole team
Torley Linden: It used to be Daniel Linden way back.
Gwendolyn Cassini: lol I thought Pinklady was hilarious (I like the Grease movies)
Torley Linden: Jack has office hours!
Laetizia Coronet: it has become much more international
Gwendolyn Cassini: ohhhh when?
Gwendolyn Cassini: i would like to have my RL sure name :D
Marianne McCann gave you Hardknock Elementary School - Be, Leden (98, 80, 22).
Torley Linden: I remember when Francis Chung complained there weren't enough Asian last names.
Patchouli Woollahra: including Etrian Odyssey, infamous for having a dynamic combat system that makes it wretchedly hard.
Moard Ling: So is Hotdesking good or bad
Igel Hawks: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Office_Hours
Laetizia Coronet: ha! You need to be an ex-Linden like Hamlet or Cory for that
Patchouli Woollahra: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WM5MMqNgUzM
Laetizia Coronet: anyway my last name has 2 parts... software couldn't cope I think
Patchouli Woollahra: Some crazy person actually went to town making a video about how hard that game was xD
Laetizia Coronet: I cannot be Laetizia van Something
Igel Hawks: Hi Tao!
Tao Takashi: Hi!
Torley Linden: Heya Tao!
Marianne McCann: My RL last name was an SL beta name, so no RL name f'r me!
Patchouli Woollahra: zomg, it's a Tao Takahasi!
Igel Hawks: *smiles to Mari*
Patchouli Woollahra took WOollahra the same way she took Patchi as a name in SL.
Tao Takashi: greetings everybody :)
Patchouli Woollahra: it was a total blind run.
Laetizia Coronet: quick, hide the Taiyakis from Takahashi
Marianne McCann: Hey Igel
Patchouli Woollahra: I never asked, I never looked it up.
Tao Takashi: so are we discussing last names ones again? ;-)
Patchouli Woollahra: just snapped.
Chase Marellan: Patch, how come every time I click on one of your YouTube links I wonder if there's some medication I need to be taking? :)
Torley Linden: Moard, I really like the colorful seat you've got.
Laetizia Coronet: ha... searched for you earleir and was surprised to find many Patchoulis
Torley Linden: Hahah Patch has a particular taste that way.
Patchouli Woollahra: at some point, I got the feeling. that the name chose ME instead.
Patchouli Woollahra: Patchouli Knowledge is the most famous one in Japan :(
Tao Takashi is still waiting for the free choice of names ;-)
Patchouli Woollahra: Yeah, I'm a tad insane.
Patchouli Woollahra: it comes from being a collective.
Chase Marellan: Not as crazy as that Ronald McDonald video.
Taiyaki : Sickly Sweet Bean Paste!!
Marianne McCann: Ya. I like my name. It sorta firs me
Chase Marellan: That one's still burned into my brain after a week. :)
Marianne McCann: fits*
Patchouli Woollahra: which reminds me, I should get those other interviews done.
Gwendolyn Cassini: you can choose your name freely cost 100 USD right?
AlexanderThe Benelli: Yep, free name choice would be great......i mean for FREE :P
Patchouli Woollahra: let's not overstrain the name servers please.
Laetizia Coronet: I chose mine wrongly, Laetizia turns out to be a tongue and keyboard breaker
Gwendolyn Cassini: its a spanish name Laetizia
Torley Linden: We're currently investigating how to improve the names process... announcement on that to come when there's more news!
Gwendolyn Cassini: cool
Patchouli Woollahra: eh, I picked up an alt named PCI Eebus.
Epocx Timeless: hehe right lae
Patchouli Woollahra: PCI-E bus.
Gwendolyn Cassini: we got an alt named: Kw Eebus
Patchouli Woollahra: also: Shin Ra.
Igel Hawks: I met a FDisk faster yesterday
Laetizia Coronet: so everyone can call me Tish like my frienjds do :) I dpon't like Lae
Gwendolyn Cassini: or McDreamy Meredith
AlexanderThe Benelli: Tish?
Laetizia Coronet: I still love the name Humble Showboat
Marianne McCann: http://www.flickr.com/photos/marianne-mccann/2282701511/
Tao Takashi: well, paying for it is IMHO silly. there was lots of discussion about this but IMHO SL is all about freedom and the freedom to choose your name should be possible
Laetizia Coronet: Tish, yes
Patchouli Woollahra: seriously... Toirov, what was Jack thinking?
Tao Takashi: it's the first step in defining your identity
Patchouli Woollahra: it is.
Gwendolyn Cassini: HamnCheese Omlet is one of my favorites its a friend of mine
Spiral Walcher: hiya peoples!
Tao Takashi: and it even might help retention
Torley Linden: HAHAHAHA.
Chase Marellan: I dunno, I kind of like the "family" thing.
Igel Hawks: Ooos, sorry: It was "Fdisk Nitely"
Patchouli Woollahra: although I sometimes get the odd feeling, as I said, that my identity chose ME instead.
Laetizia Coronet: lol
Marianne McCann: Hiya
Torley Linden: I like punny names, those are so much fun.
Moard Ling: isadaft (I's a Daft) Trollop - lol
Torley Linden: Oooh Spiral, great av! I like your fun hat.
Chase Marellan: me too. :)
Tao Takashi: the family thing is strange for newbies though
Torley Linden: When I think "Daft", I think Daft Punk.
Torley Linden: Spiral, what's your fave NIN song?
Tao Takashi: they don't know what these names actually mean
Torley Linden: OMG happy rezday, Mari!
Torley Linden: I just saw the floating text!
Tao Takashi: and SL is the only SN where you cannot choose a name
Patchouli Woollahra found out by accident that there was a girl in Oregon named Patchouli W a few years back.
Gwendolyn Cassini: Happy Rezday :)
Laetizia Coronet: that Omlet thing reminds me of a book I read... where the writer describes how she had to do Hamlet in Afrikaans at school: 'Omlet, ek is jou pappie se spook'
Patchouli Woollahra: she's moved on, AIDS will do that to you.
Tao Takashi: which is of course important if you want to connect with people
Spiral Walcher: lol ty. and i would have to say Gave Up. its best live
Patchouli Woollahra: I like Polysics.
Chase Marellan: Patch: :(
Tao Takashi: I also find it difficult to remember all those RL-SL name mappings ;-)
Tao Takashi: like when I meet somebody from a blog here I always mix names up
Patchouli Woollahra: and this is the funkiest thing, her personal emblem was a wildcat.
Spiral Walcher gave you Finished Top Hats by Spiral Walcher.
Patchouli Woollahra: I only found out AFTER I thought I'd try it for a laugh one day.
Torley Linden: Ooh thx for the hats, I look forward to enjoying these.
Chase Marellan: I kind of like the fact that you can't choose your real name, because then nobody can be compelled to use their real name.
Patchouli Woollahra: Ahem.
Spiral Walcher: :)
Torley Linden: Miniatures are so much fun!
Patchouli Woollahra: Lawrence Lessig.
Marianne McCann: Thankoo, Gwen!
Tao Takashi: but I want to use my realname ;-)
Patchouli Woollahra: =cough= Gerald Posner
Tao Takashi: I at least would like to have a choice
Patchouli Woollahra: =wheeze= Cory Doctorow
AlexanderThe Benelli: You have one....its just expensive :P
Chase Marellan: OK, ok, Patch, you have a point. :)
Tao Takashi: and would like to know (if this person choose to do the same) to know how which person is I meet, I might know him/her before
TOBBY Qunhua gave you you are in my groups tobby l, Orange Island (52, 245, 22).
Marianne McCann has an alt with a name close to real name, but she's boring
Gwendolyn Cassini: A friend of mine is a child avi too and she loves that hair a lot. My head size is 70 so it must suit most child avi's very well
Torley Linden: I appreciate the landmarks I'm being sent!
Laetizia Coronet: I'd love to be able to change the name
Epocx Timeless: its fun if ppl can only choose from a set up last names lol
Tao Takashi: well, I might also make an alt with my realname maybe but now it's too late anyway as Tao has my friendslist ;-)
Patchouli Woollahra: actually, the last names can easily be a reflection of people, often unconsciously.
Marianne McCann: Gwen - Tami initially did this for me. I'm glad she put it out in the stores
Rock Pond Pose ball: llStopAnimation: Script trying to stop animations but agent not found
Torley Linden: My original name... Torley Torgeson, I picked it because it was alliterative.
Gwendolyn Cassini: yeah each time i find another Cassini its like finding a long lost family :D
Tao Takashi: same with Tao Takashi ;-)
Laetizia Coronet: exactly, I would love to be a man as well (like in RL) but with this name i am stuck in a girl. Any alt would be an unmknown noobie ;(
Patchouli Woollahra: I've met a couple of Akulas in SL who practically sieze their second life by the throat and home in on every opportunity they sense in a hurry.
Marianne McCann: Torley - I think that's part of how mine came along, too
Patchouli Woollahra: In Russian... Akula means 'shark'.
Igel Hawks gave you Alexitimia Tattoo @ miaSofia, Hwang (28, 125, 243).
Gwendolyn Cassini: I choose Cassini because its the name of a woman living in Stars Hollow (Gilmore Girls)
Tao Takashi: with new grids coming up it will change anyway I think
Laetizia Coronet: isn't there a singer named Marianne McCann or something like it?
Patchouli Woollahra: I'm not saying every Resident who's named Akula does the same thing, but it's interesting.
Tao Takashi: those might not have a need to use fantasy names
Marianne McCann: The alliteration sounded good to me, and I wanted somethign that sounded like my RL heritage for my last name (and a name that sounhded "real" overall)
Torley Linden: Mari, in your case, it's certainly catchy.
Tao Takashi: and maybe are bound to an existing Social Network anyway
Patchouli Woollahra: I had a open choice of surnames in OpenGrid, I still went with Woollahra.
Marianne McCann: DUnno, Laetizia
Gwendolyn Cassini: :)
Chase Marellan: Ditto, Patch
Patchouli Woollahra: I suppose this is me in the end, no matter how often my avatar changes.
Tao Takashi: I also tend to use Tao Takashi now in other virtual worlds/games because it's known now ;-)
Tao Takashi: at least in this realm
Igel Hawks: Same for me
Laetizia Coronet: I used to really want to own an old Dodge Coronet... so that's how my choice was made
Torley Linden: I see people on Facebook.com using their Second Life names!
Tao Takashi: but it's hard to keep these things consistent
Epocx Timeless: if a dj tries to call ppl via voice i got left out most of the times with my name rofl
Patchouli Woollahra is going a bit blue at the moment.
Torley Linden: I like seeing that a lot. :o)
AlexanderThe Benelli: Ahh....new grids..."if" they are connected to the LL grid...how would inventory and names, etc be transfered?
Tao Takashi: I am Tao Takashi on FB
Gwendolyn Cassini: I actually sign my emails to my RL friends with Cassini a lot hahaha
Tao Takashi: which also is a problem because many people don't find mew
Gwendolyn Cassini: since Gwendolyn is my RL first name
Igel Hawks: In openGrid, OpenLife, AW I still kept my name :D
Torley Linden: Alexander, down the road that needs to be decided if it happens. Too soon right now.
Tao Takashi: but when I signed up I only knew SL people on there
Marianne McCann: Ya. Folks know "Marianne McCann" - so it works off the grid, too
Tao Takashi: so it made sense. not it doesn#t
Tao Takashi: not=now
Gwendolyn Cassini: Tao where is your head?
Gwendolyn Cassini: ;)
Patchouli Woollahra: I had to introduce myself to Biscuit Carroll as Patchouli a few days back when I bumped into him at lunch
Tao Takashi: exploring the other world ;-)
Patchouli Woollahra: Tao is known for having non-human heads.
Torley Linden: HAHA.
Torley Linden: Tao's head is in a wormhole? ;)
Gwendolyn Cassini: appearantly hahaha
Patchouli Woollahra: Torley is known for watermelons.
Tao Takashi: on search for his identity ;-)
Patchouli Woollahra: and me?
Torley Linden: Apparently I am, Patch!
Torley Linden: I like your blue tones, Patch.
Torley Linden: That's what I think of, when I think of you.
Marianne McCann: I love the whole notion of alternate identities like this, too. It does often give a different insight when we choose our own names
Patchouli Woollahra: These days, when people want to go artificial, they come to me for android avatars.
Tao Takashi: Torley and Watermelons?!? never!
Gwendolyn Cassini: Torley got a watermelon Fetish LOL
Patchouli Woollahra: it's odd.
Gwendolyn Cassini: cute
Patchouli Woollahra: I never planned this, but it got out of hand.
Marianne McCann: (oops, I did't realize I dropped a n invite. Sorry)
Epocx Timeless: i was trying to find me a av with a robot body and a human head... sadly not succeded
Torley Linden: It's always funny when someone doesn't know me and they ask, "What's with Torley and the watermelons?"
Tao Takashi: it migth be nice to have a different identity, I agree but again I would like to have the choice ;-)
Patchouli Woollahra: sorry, I don't do realistic.
Torley Linden: Patch, I like the sculptie walls you chose, too.
Patchouli Woollahra: other people do realistic better than me.
Patchouli Woollahra: thanks, Torley.
Tao Takashi: for me it's mostly annoying to make people aware that Tao Takashi == Christian Scholz == MrTopf
Torley Linden: It's nice because Second Life gives us an opportunity to amplify what we're passionate about.
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/19164
AlexanderThe Benelli enjoys being a robot
Torley Linden: Where does "MrTopf" come from, Tao?
Patchouli Woollahra: they're a tad inefficient though. I'm doing a teardown after Season 1 sales is over in May.
Tao Takashi: of course this fact sort of made it into SL culture
Moard Ling: Pipkins
Patchouli Woollahra is just selling them like in terms of Seasons.
Torley Linden: Oh this is sad, my postcard sends are all failing!
Tao Takashi: Well, I once needed an IRC name, so I choose Kochtopf because it was in my head (cooking pot)
Patchouli Woollahra: four avatars in four months, then a month's rest.
Torley Linden: I wonder what's up... anyone else noticing "asset server" problems with postcards right now?
Tao Takashi: then I "modernized" it when I became a DJ to Mr Topf
Patchouli Woollahra: rinse, repeat. keep a balance.
Torley Linden: Ahhh Tao, intriguing.
Patchouli Woollahra: I'm noticing problems with everything that isn't nailed down.
Spiral Walcher: i couldnt delete prims earlier. assest server failed and returrned to SIM
Laetizia Coronet: yes someone said they expected a grid attack...
Marianne McCann: Torley - another issue with the server rollout, perhaps?
Patchouli Woollahra: I logged in to find a Spanish guy calling me a bastard repeatedly.
Tao Takashi: well, not a very interesting story I guess ;-)
Moard Ling: OMG i have a traffic meter up my @ss
Patchouli Woollahra: is that what 'puto' means?
AlexanderThe Benelli: I'm glad i can chat...im not gping to risk anything else... :P
Torley Linden: Mari, mayhaps... I'll have to check with Release/Ops/Support later.
Gwendolyn Cassini lost a snuggle couch because of asset server problems. one that i bought for my first land :/
Tao Takashi: I wonder what happens to last names or names in general once we have an open grid
Torley Linden: Patch, that's wacky!
Patchouli Woollahra: so I listened to him politely for half an hour...
Patchouli Woollahra: ... ... ...
Torley Linden: Aw Gwen. :(
Patchouli Woollahra: then told him to get off my lawn.
Marianne McCann: I logged in to having to deal with my darn bestality neighbors again
Tao Takashi: there might be several Tao Takashi's then
Patchouli Woollahra: lolz.
Chase Marellan: Tao: that should be interesting, to say the least
Torley Linden: It'd be kind of funny to have middle names in SL, not that we would anytime soon, but some have asked.
Gwendolyn Cassini: dont know where to find a replacement for it
Patchouli Woollahra: Only two years old, but I feel sooo old.
Epocx Timeless: postcards working for me
Patchouli Woollahra: Gwen: try asking the merchant you bought it from for a replacement and explain why.
Gwendolyn Cassini is 15 months old and I feel sooooo young
Tao Takashi: well, in RL we also have seeveral people with the same name ;-)
Laetizia Coronet: well I'd love to be Laetizia 'Tish' Coronet officially
Torley Linden: Epocx, thanks, I'll try again later.
Torley Linden: Hey, I like "Tish"!
Patchouli Woollahra: Middle names for SL!
Torley Linden: That's got a nice kick to it.
Laetizia Coronet: My friends call me that
Gwendolyn Cassini: I dont remember the name of the merchant patchouli
Tao Takashi: I could be Armand van Topf then ;-)
Patchouli Woollahra: creator?
Torley Linden: Haha Armand van Topf makes me think of Van Helden.
Laetizia Coronet: L to da mothafXXXin C
Tao Takashi: :-)
Gwendolyn Cassini: Vampire Armand.....
Patchouli Woollahra is thinking of establishing a web design / metaversal consultancy.
Torley Linden: Van Helden and Ali G look like the same person.
Patchouli Woollahra: I just got the DNS name for it.
Epocx Timeless: torley do you send your pictures directly to flickr?
Patchouli Woollahra: maonian :D
Torley Linden: Epocx, I use crossposting services.
Laetizia Coronet: hmmm... Borat Linden woiuld be nice, talking about Ali G
Tao Takashi: I wonder when my call today for the metaverse08 is coming
Patchouli Woollahra: Meowist Theory!
Torley Linden: HAHAHA Borat Linden.
Torley Linden: What would HE say?
Tao Takashi: I have 2 speaking engagements about SL soon so I am wondering if it's going up again with SL ;-)
Patchouli Woollahra: problably stuff that would get him into serious trouble with Robin Linden.
Laetizia Coronet: well I guess all Kazakh residents would leave :D
Torley Linden: HAHAH Patch.
Tao Takashi: or if those are just late to the party
Torley Linden: OMG... that cracks me up so much.
Patchouli Woollahra needs to find a picture of Mao doing a salute and replacing it with a wildcat head.
Torley Linden: I wonder if Robin knows Borat... I was chatting with her yesterday.
Patchouli Woollahra: and then misquote the Little Red Book.
Moard Ling: Burning Linden ? Burning Linden, fetch the engines , fetch the engines
Patchouli Woollahra: never understimate her ability to empathise with the common resident, Torley.
Laetizia Coronet: Pat... try the ... chinese propaganda poster library... hm
Patchouli Woollahra: that's how she's still on top even after so many years at the bridge.
Torley Linden: http://boratworld.com/borat-sayings-quotes-lingo.php
Laetizia Coronet: chinese propaganda archives. Do a Google Image search for Chinese propaganda, you'll get there
Patchouli Woollahra: of course, she's had her 'deer in headlights' moments.
Torley Linden: Aye Patch.
Torley Linden: The first place I met Robin was in a giant dinosaur's behind!
Patchouli Woollahra: O_o
Torley Linden: And she was very nice to me. :-D
Moard Ling: Do i need to get my parking validated for the Traffic meter
Laetizia Coronet: hahjaha
Tao Takashi: btw, I heard somebody saying that Dazzle is energy better put somewhere else and wonder who here likes it :)
Chase Marellan: Only in SL would you hear that
Patchouli Woollahra: o_o
Torley Linden: It was actually a dragon... not dinosaur.
Torley Linden: Hahaha Chase.
Marianne McCann giggles
Patchouli Woollahra buries her head.
Torley Linden: Let's see if I can find a picture of said dragon...
Laetizia Coronet: nce she told me how nervous she'd been for her first Office Hour - that was like an aha-experience for me
Patchouli Woollahra: This metaversal thing is going to make for soooo bizzare reading when our kids read about it.
Chase Marellan: On that note, I have to go
Patchouli Woollahra: "So where did Torley first meet Robin Linden?"
Torley Linden: Argh I can't, it was back in 2004. Long time, it's prolly in my archives somewhere.
Chase Marellan: Have a wonderful week, everyone!
Patchouli Woollahra: "Up a Dragon's ass."
Patchouli Woollahra: ....
Torley Linden: Patch: Truth.
Marianne McCann: Bye Bye!!
Torley Linden: But maybe our kids will be used to such things.
Torley Linden: Take care Chase!
Moard Ling: No room i have a meter there already
Tao Takashi: cya Chase!
Torley Linden: I think it's older generations that tend to be shocked.
AlexanderThe Benelli: cu
Patchouli Woollahra: "Grandpa, were you smoking something strong when you was young?"
Chase Marellan: bye, all!
Patchouli Woollahra: "Watermelons."
Laetizia Coronet: lol
Torley Linden: LOL!
Marianne McCann giggles
Torley Linden: I don't do drugs tho, seriously, because my life, and Second Life, it's such a trip.
Laetizia Coronet: let's try that, dry some watermelons and roll them into spliffs
Tao Takashi: there was some film about watermelons on TV yesterday
Patchouli Woollahra: "But watermelons aren't smokable!" "Boy, don't tell me it's impossible when I've been doing and seeing it for a decade."
Torley Linden: It's always weird because some people watch my video tutorials and they wonder what I'm on... they take guesses, sometimes it's "cut down on the coffee" but even I don't drink a lot of that!
Tao Takashi: where it was about Taiwan when water was short and people were asked to use watermelon juice instead
Torley Linden: LOL Patch!!!
Torley Linden: You are CRACKIN' ME UP!
Patchouli Woollahra: "How to Enjoy Your Watermelon In White Company (And Enjoy It)"?
Marianne McCann: Who needs drugs when you got choklit
Torley Linden: Tao, oh wow. I would've wanted to see THAT film.
Torley Linden: Patch, I've seen that on YouTube.
Epocx Timeless: me too torley!! (about the drugs) lol
Torley Linden: Choklit tastes gooood.
Patchouli Woollahra: we need a version of it with Torley Wong instead of Marvin Van Peebles.
Tao Takashi: I only looked shortly at it but looked somewhat boring ;-)
Patchouli Woollahra: "How To Rez Your Watermelon in odd company (and Enjoy It)"
Tao Takashi: but it was also late and I should have been in bed so I did this instead
Torley Linden: I wanna be Torley Van Wong or something. Altho I think now more people know me by my Linden name.
Torley Linden: Oh OK Tao, I don't like boring documentaries.
Gwendolyn Cassini: Robin Linden = mrs Torley? or did i misunderstood the conversation?
Laetizia Coronet: lmao
Torley Linden: Gwendolyn, oh no. She's my boss!
Patchouli Woollahra: Roblin Linden isn't married to Torley Linden... fortunately.
Tao Takashi: Ha! :)
Gwendolyn Cassini: lol ok
Marianne McCann laughs
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/19165
Laetizia Coronet: you misunderstood
Torley Linden: =o)
Gwendolyn Cassini: hhahaha I knew she was your boss
Gwendolyn Cassini: lol
Gwendolyn Cassini: good that she isnt mrs Torley too hahaha\
Patchouli Woollahra: the same mismatch that leads to a good partnership would probably lead to a marriage in hell. no offense.
Torley Linden: And a fine one at that, Robin is so compassionate.
Tao Takashi: Robin Linden is probably married to Mr Linden ;-)
Tao Takashi: or maybe Mr Harper? :)
Torley Linden: HAHAHAHAHAHA.
Torley Linden: *nod*
Patchouli Woollahra is hiring tinies to do a spoof of a old short film.
Laetizia Coronet: Compassionate? *rolls eyes* OK...\
Blackie Dagger: Hello everyone :)
Patchouli Woollahra: The original is done by a German named Jorgen Leth. "The Perfect Human".
AlexanderThe Benelli: hi blackie
Patchouli Woollahra: I plan on doing a version called "The Perfect Tiny".
AlexanderThe Benelli: rofl
Torley Linden: Oh I'd like to see that.
Laetizia Coronet: heh
Torley Linden: Tinies are definitely this amazing part of Second Life culture.
Patchouli Woollahra: and in shocking news, it will have Tiny Softcore.
Torley Linden: I wonder who SL's most active historians are now.
Patchouli Woollahra: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3R4E1nm6SYw <-- original news.
Patchouli Woollahra: original clip I mean.
Laetizia Coronet: I'd love to do a machinima based on my Girefers Paradise lyrics (on the Gangsta Paradise song by Coolio)
Patchouli Woollahra: are there tuxedoes for Tinies I mean.
Marianne McCann: Torley - it's kinda sad to have sorta lost the SL History Wiki
Torley Linden: Gosh, they have so much on YouTube.
Tao Takashi: gotta go! missed an appointment at 4 ;-)
Laetizia Coronet: *Griefers
Tao Takashi: cya!
Torley Linden: Laetizia, I did like the Weird Al spoof.
Torley Linden: Mari, we did? I thought it went over to wikia?
Gwendolyn Cassini: Bye Tao
Gwendolyn Cassini: take care
Torley Linden: Take care Tao!
Laetizia Coronet: yeah me too :) but mine is nice too :)
Patchouli Woollahra: "Here Is The Tiny. Here Is The Perfect Tiny."
Laetizia Coronet: As I walk through the sandbox with the cages of death, i take a look at my life and realize there's nothing left...
Marianne McCann: Torley - yes, but it's become more "general SL" focused, an is almost never updated cept for talking smack with the military groups
Patchouli Woollahra: other spoofs I have in at least a think of it phase...
Torley Linden: I don't like it when news media folks write lazily about Second Life without actually coming in, not having that experience leads to big inaccuracies.
Laetizia Coronet: ...as I've been sending ARs for so long that even the Lindens think that my mind has gone"
Patchouli Woollahra: http://www.willitblend.com <- with griefers in the blender.
Torley Linden: I haven't seen those parts of wikia, Mari, but I wonder if some of that is due to military group people putting in lots of info about themselves?
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/19166
Marianne McCann: A few of us were doing a lot of work on the continents and some of the older SL builds on there... but kinda gave up after Wikia
Laetizia Coronet: they just *ehrm* think they experienced it, Torley :)
Torley Linden: Interesting, I didn't know Caledon had an air force.
Patchouli Woollahra: "And because I'm so pissed off with these griefers, I think I'll use the Abuse Report button"
Torley Linden: Laetizia: HAAHAHAHA.
Patchouli Woollahra: Caledon has EVERYTHING.
Torley Linden: I should do a David Lynch kinda message to the critics. :p
Laetizia Coronet: yep
Patchouli Woollahra: when steampunk can substitute for transistors, you get scary results.
Torley Linden: Kinda like his "What do you think of product placement, David Lynch?" video.
Blackie Dagger: Hello Gadget
Laetizia Coronet: Lynch 'em I sez
Igel Hawks: hehe
Patchouli Woollahra: Do tinies have mouths?
Torley Linden: I've seen some tinies with mouth HUDs.
Moard Ling Grrrrs
Marianne McCann: Do tinies dream of electric sheep?
Patchouli Woollahra: I fear I may need to use Tardimals. but that might make "The Perfect Tiny" even more ironic.
Igel Hawks: some have
Laetizia Coronet: they may have orifices of some kind :D
Torley Linden: That's the first time I've heard "orifices" at one of my office hours, methinks!
Patchouli Woollahra: also: we need a random descriptive + animal name generator for metaversal development companies.
Laetizia Coronet: lmao
Marianne McCann: Ugg... dun remind me of the new neighbors
Patchouli Woollahra: We have Electric Sheep, and now Clever Zebra.
Torley Linden: Hahaha.
Laetizia Coronet: history in the making
Torley Linden: Clever Zebra? That's cute.
Torley Linden: *looks up their website*
Patchouli Woollahra: Pernicious Playtpus Pte Ltd?
Torley Linden: LOL.
Laetizia Coronet: How about Smart Ass - after all it's a donkey :)
Igel Hawks: Gotta go now.
Marianne McCann: Can I start "Huge Manatee" development?
Gadget Gobo: I was working on the newest craze - Tinnies: anthropomorphic household appliances
Patchouli Woollahra: LOLZ.
Torley Linden: Hey, Clever Zebra has a great WindLight pic on their page.
Igel Hawks: cu all soon :D
Gwendolyn Cassini: The voice of that Clever Zebra guy is hawt
Patchouli Woollahra: Hey, that's a great idea, Marianne.
Blackie Dagger: Bye Igel
Torley Linden: Gadget, sounds like one heck of a mashup.
Igel Hawks: have a nice weekend and enjoy your lifes
Torley Linden: Where can I hear it, Gwen?
Torley Linden: Bye Igel!
Gwendolyn Cassini: on youtube
Laetizia Coronet: bye Igel
Gwendolyn Cassini: let me try to find it
Spiral Walcher: Clever Zerba a dev. company?
Patchouli Woollahra: don't forget people,
Marianne McCann works for an otherwise unnamed sim dev group
Moard Ling: Tinies salsa really sucks, its shoudl be claled tinnies fire practie
Torley Linden: Wait a minute, I got a Clever Zebra theater, that's how I know of them!
Patchouli Woollahra: Hamlet Au will be speaking at Dr Dobbs today at 12pm PST.
Gwendolyn Cassini: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhzIiuTqj0s
Patchouli Woollahra works at Millions of Patches, which is just two real people atm sadly.
Laetizia Coronet: oh come on... Hamlet is not God... :)
Patchouli Woollahra: Eh, he was around when the metaverse was first forming up.
Gwendolyn Cassini: I talked to the Clever Zebra guy when Shep Korvin showed him my store
Laetizia Coronet: that Scion thing he pulled, yuck
ROMSEY Homewood: naw! Moard ready for bed!
Gwendolyn Cassini: he was really sweet, but didnt know a thing about SL
Patchouli Woollahra: I think he's perfectly entitled to talk about how SL formed up.
Laetizia Coronet: oh yes he is
Marianne McCann: Patch - someday people migh say dat about any of us
Patchouli Woollahra: What Iz Scion City?
Gadget Gobo: heh - well figured I'd invent it and leak it to the press with staged photos of their wild perversions...get the press riled up because they'll believe ANYTHING as long as they think it'd "yet another weird thing those second life freaks are up to"
Patchouli Woollahra: oh yes, I made really bad fun of it.
Moard Ling: I'm hard to find in the wild, thoguht i'd make it easier
Laetizia Coronet: yeah right, well scion city is a friggin ads
Patchouli Woollahra went overboard.
Torley Linden: I don't mind an advert if I LIKE it.
Torley Linden: HAHA.
Laetizia Coronet: I blogged on it - and the fact the post had replies switched off
Patchouli Woollahra: not everything needs direct comment.
Torley Linden: I wonder if there could be a whole TV sitcom revolving around product placement.
Patchouli Woollahra: what iz soap opera?
Laetizia Coronet: Torley, do you know Step Right Up by Tom Waits? It'll crack you up
Torley Linden: Hey, good point, Patch.
Patchouli Woollahra: product placements will become an inevitable fact of life.
Marianne McCann: Torley - if they could make the movie "You got mail,:" then why not?
Torley Linden: No I don't, Laetizia.
Marianne McCann: I *love* dat track, Laetizia
Torley Linden: Hahah Mari, I liked that one, it was sweet. OMG... THAT REMINDS ME!
Patchouli Woollahra: the fact is, we have technology that can strip a ad off if it sits right there on its own.
Torley Linden: *digs for article*
Gadget Gobo: it wouod be funny as a one short, but after that it'd start to look like SNL pretty quick
Patchouli Woollahra: what iz timeshifting.
Gwendolyn Cassini: they should rename it to: Youve got a notecard
Gwendolyn Cassini: or youve got an IM
Marianne McCann: "You've got gestures"
Laetizia Coronet: Torley basically it is a chain of advertisement clich退s strung together in a meaningless waterfall of silliness
Patchouli Woollahra: the only way an advert can survive that sort of edit is if it's an intrinsic part of the actual video.
Patchouli Woollahra: actual show I mean.
Patchouli Woollahra: eitehr overtly (but not too much) or subtly.
Torley Linden: Laetizia, sounds like something I'd like a lot, then.
Marc3469 Nichols: im coming down if i hit anybody im sorry
Laetizia Coronet: "hat's right, you too could be the prowd owner of a the quality goes in before the name goes on..."
Torley Linden: http://www.neatorama.com/2006/07/24/the-25-most-important-questions-in-the-history-of-the-universe/
Torley Linden: It's slowly loading for me, but I like that page. ^
Marianne McCann: It's a fun track. Reminds me too of Elvis Constello's "This Offer Is Unrepeatable"
Laetizia Coronet: I'll try to find it on YouTube but I'm not sure
Torley Linden: That YouTube, it doth have so much!
AlexanderThe Benelli: Ahh....the jira for the "build button" in Dazzle: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-5099
Gadget Gobo: say...I got here late - did anyone discuss this Replicator business?
Marc3469 Nichols: oops
Gwendolyn Cassini: lol that took you long enough to find, or did you post it yourself Alex
Marc3469 Nichols: maybe i shouldnt be here
AlexanderThe Benelli: just did it
Torley Linden: Thanks Alexander, I'll check it out! Much appreciated!
Gwendolyn Cassini: ok lol
Marianne McCann: Why not?
Marc3469 Nichols: is this a group meeting?
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/19167
Spiral Walcher: so torley... you bring us windlight... so why isnt your office glowing like the sun? :P
AlexanderThe Benelli: looool
Marianne McCann: We were all waiting for you, Marc. Welcome!
Torley Linden: For folks in the US and interested, apparently, that 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator PE is on sale... US$40 @ http://dealspl.us/3Dconnexion-SpaceNavigator-PE_66764
Torley Linden: Some like using it with the Flycam.
Patchouli Woollahra: Windlight is'nt always about the glow, guys.
Torley Linden: Heya Marc! Yes, it's my office hour!
Torley Linden: Welcome!
Patchouli Woollahra: some WL work has been done with minimal lightlying.
Patchouli Woollahra: rimmed, even.
Torley Linden: Spiral, I choose to use glow as an accent most of the time, not something that blinds everyone aieeeeeee.
Marc3469 Nichols: oh hello and thank you
Torley Linden: Glow is the new bling, my wife sez.
Moard Ling: Rimworld ?
Patchouli Woollahra: I'm sure someone will inevitably figure out how to use WL to simulate rim lighting in total darkness...
Marc3469 Nichols: torly thanks for sl wow
Patchouli Woollahra: and then produce erotica.
Laetizia Coronet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEQwZHsAVmc
Patchouli Woollahra: you know the sort.
Spiral Walcher: yeah. i saw a blog by her the other night... saying that she hates glow
Gadget Gobo: you can bet if folks could get glow to work on clothing layers, we'd be drowning in it
Patchouli Woollahra: just some girl's curves in total blackness and stuff.
Laetizia Coronet: Tom Waits, Step Right Up, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEQwZHsAVmc
AlexanderThe Benelli: I think gadget just said something about the "replicator" thing... what does LL say about it?
Patchouli Woollahra: Gadget: technically... you COULD.
Marc3469 Nichols: ive never met a linden yet
Patchouli Woollahra: I've been working on facial tattoos that glow.
Spiral Walcher: yes you have. right here
Spiral Walcher: lol
Patchouli Woollahra: indirectly.
Marianne McCann loves glow, in the right circumstances. Like on the old "Fire"
Marc3469 Nichols: I have now yes lol
Gadget Gobo: you could via attachments, and yes - the replicator is on the top of my list today
Patchouli Woollahra: there 's nothing wrong with cheating by using prim attachments.
Laetizia Coronet: I've already fought with Lindens :D
Patchouli Woollahra: ... never in public as a mentor, please.
Torley Linden: @_@
Laetizia Coronet: and called one of them a liar
Laetizia Coronet: no that was before my mentor days
Marianne McCann: I've shot about 50 or so Lindens
Patchouli Woollahra: good.
Marianne McCann: ...with my camera
Torley Linden: It was one of the strangest but most rewarding feelings to discover that ANY object can be attached, including a whole house.
Gwendolyn Cassini: whahhaha
Patchouli Woollahra: To my eternal horror.
Siann Beck: lol Torley!
Laetizia Coronet: lol yes
Patchouli Woollahra: you have NO idea how many idiots have disrupted NCi Kuula operations by turning into house hedgehogs.
Gwendolyn Cassini: lol
AlexanderThe Benelli: Yep....noob sign #1) =>a box attached at the right hand :P
Gwendolyn Cassini: or to the head
Marianne McCann: http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/ViewAlbum.aspx?id=834
Laetizia Coronet: damn that tune is good :D (listening to Waits)
Patchouli Woollahra: that is to say, they attach houses all over their body, then obscure and block the leson timetable.
Marianne McCann: I remember my days of wearing a box head
Torley Linden: Haha Alexander, I remember when it was the HEAD.
Laetizia Coronet: or a torch in their right hand
Torley Linden: Then, Aura Linden changed that...
Epocx Timeless: torley i was wanting to post a jira but wouldnt it be nice to limit sit distance for privacy in houses? via sit you can enter everywhere ;)
Gwendolyn Cassini: why did she change that Torley?
Spiral Walcher: brb
Torley Linden: Epocx: I think there are related feature requests, but most of them historically haven't been done because of physics complications.
Gwendolyn Cassini: attaching to head is fun LOL
AlexanderThe Benelli: @Torley;when did she cahnge it?
Blackie Dagger: meep, phantom XD
Siann Beck: Less alarming for noobs, perhaps, Gwen
Laetizia Coronet: I had no idea i could listen to YouTube and still see SL :D
Torley Linden: Aura changed it based on much Resident feedback, and yes, as Siann said.
Marianne McCann: http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/ViewAlbum.aspx?id=834
AlexanderThe Benelli: cause im jut wondering o
Gwendolyn Cassini: guess so, on the other hand now you will find noobs running around with boxes attached to their hands for days because they dont notice it
Patchouli Woollahra: The Amityville Toaster
Patchouli Woollahra: Makes breakfast spooky
Torley Linden: There's more usability work that could be done, yeah.
Patchouli Woollahra: Spooky talking toaster
AlexanderThe Benelli: if i started with "head" as well, or if i'm too young
Patchouli Woollahra: Spooky speaking toast!
Patchouli Woollahra: Yum yum yum, human hand.
Patchouli Woollahra loves that emote, hates accidentally triggering it.
Torley Linden: Ahhh how fun this has been. And a classic gesture too! I've got to go for now, and again, my apologies for being late. THANKS for coming to my office hour, and a reminder, next week my office hour has shifted to Thursday @ 12 PM PST! But I'll be here again at 2 PM PST today. :)
Spiral Walcher: can i rez something here for a sec, torley?
Torley Linden: Sure Spiral, if there's enough prims. :)
Patchouli Woollahra: take care Torley. see you again soon :D
Blackie Dagger: bye Torley
Marianne McCann: A permanent change, Torley?
AlexanderThe Benelli: ~~$$~~Tschüssi~~$$~~
AlexanderThe Benelli: bye torley!
Marianne McCann: Have a fun day!
Patchouli Woollahra: and now, I go back to sleep. :D
AlexanderThe Benelli: thanks for ur time!
Torley Linden: At least for the next few weeks, Mari, depending on my work schedule!
Harleen Gretzky: bye Torley :)
Gwendolyn Cassini: bye Torley
Marianne McCann: cool
Gwendolyn Cassini: pleasure meeting you again
Spiral Walcher: here is what i do with glow
Torley Linden: WHOA TRIPPY!
Epocx Timeless: bye torley!!
Epocx Timeless: wow nice
Laetizia Coronet: bye Tor, before this weirness crashes me
Spiral Walcher: lol
Torley Linden: And good seeing you, each and all! Bye bye!

2 PM

Torley Linden: Oh wow look who's here already! Friendly greetings again! :D
Daedalus Young: 64m draw distance
Daedalus Young: never keep that too high
bigmoe Whitfield: hey hey
Tamasin Demina: hello Torley
Torley Linden: I remember the first time I was taught about how to set my draw distance.
Torley Linden: Goodness gracious, what's happened since then.
Daedalus Young: set it higher when travelling, but when sitting still, 64 is just fine
Barricade Slade: I have to take a picture :D
Torley Linden: Good to see each and all of ya here!
Shockwave Plasma: Hello Torley, Hello everyone
Yeti Bing: hi all!
CeeJay Tigerpaw: Hi all

Tamasin Demina: look like you're going to propose
Torley Linden: How nice it is to be an avatar with feet that don't get tired. ;)
Jei Desoto: heheh thanks : )
Barricade Slade: My legs are in the ground o0
Tamasin Demina: :D
Daedalus Young: most shocking news this week: Oyster Bay Sculpture Garden & Aquarium closed!
Yeti Bing: :)
Torley Linden: :O First time I heard that, what happened, Daed?
Gwendolyn Cassini: hello everyone :)
bigmoe Whitfield: hello
Tamasin Demina: hi Gwen
Daedalus Young: the owner Morris Vig got a new RL job a few months back, which demands too much of his time
Barricade Slade: My system specs are...

Daedalus Young: but twice the memory in my Mac
Barricade Slade: I'm using an iMac
Daedalus Young: and I'm on 10.4.11
Gwendolyn Cassini: wow and SL runs well on an iMac?
bigmoe Whitfield sneezes
Daedalus Young: I've been running it for over a year, Gwendolyn
Daedalus Young: no probs
Barricade Slade: bless you
bigmoe Whitfield: ty
Gwendolyn Cassini: thats great :D
Daedalus Young: though WL is a bit slower
Siobhan McCallen waves hi to everyone
Daedalus Young: hi
bigmoe Whitfield waves back
Shockwave Plasma: waves as well
Barricade Slade: I can't believe I'm talking to Torley Linden!
Gwendolyn Cassini: well i was used to Sims 2 before getting into Sl, even with an average framerate of 5 with my old pc, it was still faster than the Sims LOL
Torley Linden: That's so nice of you Barricade, and yes, you most certainly are! Hehe.
Gwendolyn Cassini: now i use a laptop, and the 30 fps makes me nausious. Its waaaay to fast
Siobhan McCallen: I'm pretty jazzed too.
Torley Linden: My brother used to play Sims 2 for so long.
Al Sonic: Yeah office hours are great ^_^
Tamasin Demina: i get three frames a week but i'm addicted
Torley Linden: I luv smooth framerates!
Barricade Slade: Oh, on you audio video tutorial, You made areally cool gesture...
bigmoe Whitfield: 1.5fps right now eep.
Barricade Slade: can I have that hehe
Gwendolyn Cassini: Sims2 was really cool, but when it crashed, I lost my complete familly i was working on for 10 generations
Torley Linden: Oh sure can Barricade! One sec...
Barricade Slade: im gettin 1fps
CeeJay Tigerpaw: I am running a high-end Mac Pro and it makes SL look like a DVD most of the time.
Gwendolyn Cassini: BOOM!
Torley Linden: HAHAHAAH.
Barricade Slade accepted your inventory offer.
bigmoe Whitfield: my other video card went poof lastnight
Mony Markova: Hi!!!
Barricade Slade: Thx :D
LN Freenote: Hi there
Gwendolyn Cassini: Hi Money, nice wings :)
Mony Markova: TY Gwendolyn !
Al Sonic: Hm, yeah now that I've seen that tutorial, I'd kinda like to have that gesture for the fun of it too.
Torley Linden: That sound kinda reminded me of Star Trek!
LN Freenote: TY Simon
Torley Linden: Sure Al!
Gwendolyn Cassini: *Mony, sorry for the spelling mistake
Barricade Slade: 0.8fps o0
Al Sonic: Thanx ^_^
Al Sonic accepted your inventory offer.
Maggie Darwin: Gee, I wonder why :-)
Mony Markova: wow what a group
Mony Markova: LOL GW I am typo wrong specialist
Mony Markova: my self
Gwendolyn Cassini: 5.2 fps :)
bigmoe Whitfield: eep torley is sitting on me
Barricade Slade: Mabye I should've logged onto Windows, I heard Second LIfe is faster on Windows than OS X
Gwendolyn Cassini = Queen of typos
bigmoe Whitfield: now not
Torley Linden: I'm not heavy!
Torley Linden: I hope not!
Barricade Slade: he's sitting on me lol
Gwendolyn Cassini: lol
bigmoe Whitfield: I am notw up here some how
bigmoe Whitfield: lol
Torley Linden: Yeti, you look like a fun snowglobe!
Torley Linden: What a creative avatar!
Simon Kline: heheheh pixels are pretty light
Mony Markova: what a nice group lol
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Yeti Bing: lol thanks, torley
Barricade Slade: Why am I sitting on the floor lol
Gwendolyn Cassini thinks that lots of Water Melon Nation members are here now :D
JetZep Zabelin: hi!
Torley Linden: Hehe it seems to be so!
Maggie Darwin: Wnat to gather a crowd? Publish a SLURL in a popular blog. :-)
Barricade Slade: Is Dazzle going to be combined with WL soon?
bigmoe Whitfield: stand!
Torley Linden: Barricade, maybe not "soon soon" but eventually, yes.
Torley Linden: We rarely have two First Looks at the same time... I think this is the first time!
Gwendolyn Cassini sings: Melon Snow Grass jelly drink soothes the soul
Barricade Slade: I don't know what to choose!
Torley Linden: So basically, WindLight is a "mature" First Look...
bigmoe Whitfield pokes the picture she took.
Barricade Slade: Beautiful ui...
Torley Linden: Haha Gwen I haven't had grass jelly in awhile! ;)
Barricade Slade: Or beautiful skies
Gwendolyn Cassini sings: Melon Snow have it with sashimi and sushi rolls
Torley Linden: and then WindLight will go into Release Candidate, then into main viewer.
Marianne McCann: Hiya
Torley Linden: Meanwhile, Dazzle will mature as a First Look, and will follow WindLight into the main viewer.
bigmoe Whitfield: video production with windlight is awesome
Marianne McCann: I hope I did't jes walk on anyone
Barricade Slade: What should i choose
Gwendolyn Cassini: hahha never ever drank it Grass Jelly drink
Simon Kline: dazzle rox!
Simon Kline: tho i keep getting group errors in that and the rc2
Daedalus Young: hey Marianne, congrats on your rezday :)
Jei Desoto: i love Windlight... haven't tried the other.
Siobhan McCallen: I'm having enough trouble keeping my nVidia card working properly with Windlight as it is. :(
Marianne McCann: Thankoo, Daedalus
Torley Linden: Yeah, group errors are a server-side thing not specific to any viewer, they are *harsh*. :\
bigmoe Whitfield: aww poo. I am being called back. :( have fun everybody and good to meet alot of you. have fun torley
Marianne McCann loves the windlight
Torley Linden: Which NVIDIA card, Siobhan?
Maggie Darwin: I've got memory leaks in WL. And sounds being triggered multiple times.
Torley Linden: Have a good one bigmoe, thanks for sharing your vid!
Siobhan McCallen: 8800 gts
Gwendolyn Cassini: nVidia thats Geforce right?
Torley Linden: Maggie: Only in WL, or RC too?
Barricade Slade: My MacBook can't enable basic shaders (tgraphics card is too weak :()
Tamasin Demina: oh i'm 6 months old today woot
Torley Linden: Hmmm I have a 8800 GTS too. Siobhan, what's your problems with it?
Maggie Darwin: Not running RC
Dog Carver: thank you
bigmoe Whitfield waves goodbye
Dirk Klees: Hello =)
Maggie Darwin: Siobhan and I have almost identical systems, we're RL lifepartners
Mony Markova: sound !!
Torley Linden: Oooh. <3
Barricade Slade: Oh, and I'm goingf to get married in Second LIfe :D
Siobhan McCallen: I'm on vista, and get random black screens with swirly cursors and crashes, and out of memory errors
Gwendolyn Cassini: I have an older version: GeForve 8400
Siobhan McCallen: and suddenly I
Gwendolyn Cassini: congrats Barricade
Barricade Slade: thx
CeeJay Tigerpaw: Congrats, you mad passionate fool.
Siobhan McCallen: I'll get sound errors where there'll be a scratching buzz and the whole machine locks up...but I don't know if that's video
Barricade Slade: lol
Dirk Klees: You need more chairs Torley :P
Siobhan McCallen: Maggie gets repeated sounds over and over, then crashes
Torley Linden: I wonder why that happens. I haven't really used Vista.
Summer Seale: his prims are full tho =)
Siobhan McCallen: I turned off occlusion, and that HELPS, but doesn't solve it
Maggie Darwin: You haven't lived until you've heard six copies of teh typing sound running at once. :-)
Simon Kline: i've heard of some weird vid cards ppl having to turn the sounds of before it will use sl so it might be linked to video
Gwendolyn Cassini uses Vista with a Geforece 8400 no huge problems here.
Torley Linden: Tamasin, looks like you're wearing a miniature scale city!
Summer Seale: lol
Gwendolyn Cassini: even the runtime errors i used to have 2 weeks ago are gone
Tamasin Demina: sorry folks random crash cant see anyone
Maggie Darwin: Or varius thumpy UI sounds like a conga band...
Barricade Slade: xD
Daedalus Young: with ad farms
Barricade Slade: I'm running XP SP3 and OS X Leopard
Siobhan McCallen: any issues with a quad core that you know of?
Tamasin Demina: yep i got myu own sim here torley
Maggie Darwin: We have a space-themend sim in the planning stages.
Siobhan McCallen: I've heard of wearing your heart on your sleeve, but your sim on your body?
Torley Linden: I'm on a quad-core, Q6600, and it works generally fine for me.
Torley Linden: Second Life used to have some flakiness with multi-cores... but things should be better now.
Alpha Prim: Vista Quadcore ati 3850 runs smooth :)
Gwendolyn Cassini: thats soooo cool Tamasin
Daedalus Young: ooh, could you run a sim server in lsl? :P
Tamasin Demina: with pseudo realistic floating ads :D but its an anti-ad farm
Maggie Darwin: I released a 3D model of the zoning plan today.
Barricade Slade: I've also noticed Second LIfe is faster on Windows, does anyone know why it's faster on windows?
Gwendolyn Cassini: I have a dual core laptop
Gwendolyn Cassini: its written in dot net?
Gwendolyn Cassini: lol
Torley Linden: Hmmm you'd have to do a comparison on the same machine or similar hardware, Barricade.
Barricade Slade: I do
Torley Linden: You noticed that with Boot Camp or something like that?
Maggie Darwin: Barricade: Typically the video drivers on non-Windows platforms lag behind technically
Barricade Slade: I'm running OS X and Windows on the same machine, exact same hardware
Dirk Klees: btw...did anyone experience on a dual-core pc that SL runs better if you assign a single cpu to SL instead of letting it run on two?
Marianne McCann: ouch
Maggie Darwin is software engineer in RL
Dirk Klees: i heard rumours about it but i dont really feel a difference
Summer Seale: i used to hae that problem with a dual core
Gwendolyn Cassini is not that technical so never tried that
Torley Linden: Dirk, I've seen that before, but not recently.
Summer Seale: but not in a year now
Barricade Slade: But, windows has a smaller hardware requirement, and is smaller in sizxe on Wiondows
Summer Seale: i have a quad now tho
Torley Linden: I used to have dual-core stuttering issues on my older AMD Opteron 170.
Gwendolyn Cassini: but my dualcore is way faster than my previous pc so im really really content
Siobhan McCallen: I hd it run more stably under earlier versions if I lowered the priority, but not the affinity.
Dirk Klees wants a quad too :P
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
CeeJay Tigerpaw: My Mac Pro has 8 cores and so far I have noticed no weirdness compared to my old Macbook 13, except much higher speed.
Gwendolyn Cassini: mde some awesome non windlight pics
Maggie Darwin: We have fiber here as well. ;-) It rocks.
Torley Linden: Multi-core machines are fantastic for multi-taskers, and they keep dropping in price!
Marianne McCann loves her dual core iMac (but is on the Lappy)
ZHAO: Couldn't find animation Shy and Thoughtful Stand 5
Barricade Slade: Is it because thgey have different cores?
Shockwave Plasma: wants to move in with Maggie
ZHAO: Couldn't find animation Shy and Thoughtful Stand 5
ZHAO: Couldn't find animation Shy and Thoughtful Stand 5
ZHAO: Couldn't find animation Shy and Thoughtful Stand 5

ZHAO: Couldn't find animation Shy and Thoughtful Stand 5
CeeJay Tigerpaw: This Mac Pro has so much horsepower it is scary.
Dirk Klees: i just decided to get a new one after my single core dropped down to a fps of 4-8
Maggie Darwin: Shockwave: You'll have to ask Siobhan first. :-)
ZHAO: Couldn't find animation Shy and Thoughtful Stand 5
Mony Markova: TY Guys !! a pleasure to see you ... (gotta run finish Friday LOL) Thanks !!!
Torley Linden: Have a good one Mony!
Gwendolyn Cassini: what is your average framrate in SL Torley?
Siobhan McCallen checks shockwaves's profile and smiles
Marianne McCann: CeeJay - my friend RObin is getting an eight core. It's running okay?
Maggie Darwin: Bye, Mony!
Barricade Slade: Oh, if no one's noticed, I'm a computer techie
Mony Markova: TY Torley a pleasure to meet you
LN Freenote: bye mony :)
Marianne McCann: (It's being built by Apple right now)
Torley Linden: And you too Mony!
Mony Markova: and bye guys
Mony Markova: Bye M
Daedalus Young: the cores just keep on doubling
Barricade Slade: Bye
Shockwave Plasma: i've been told sl will run better on 2003 server , than XP on the same hardware
Daedalus Young: imagine a 256 core :D
Dirk Klees: 256 core? wooot
Maggie Darwin: Such a thing once existed.
Barricade Slade: Intel has made an 80 core cpu o0
Siobhan McCallen: isn't that called the Texas Colo?
Alpha Prim: Remembers the time that Barricade was "driving" around on hip :)
CeeJay Tigerpaw: Yes Marianne, mine is two weeks old, and no hassles. IM me for details (now, if you wish).
Maggie Darwin: It was called The Connection Machine.
Barricade Slade: How can you remember \?
Barricade Slade: lol
Alpha Prim: :)
Alpha Prim: has a great cpu :))
Daedalus Young: but I suppose by then they make such bulky software, everything still lags :/
PersephoneGea Clary: good afternoon or night
CeeJay Tigerpaw: (I have worked professionally on a project that might have featured 250 000 cores.)
Maggie Darwin: At work my code drives a 25-node cluster.
JetZep Zabelin: ;P my savviness is outdated
Gwendolyn Cassini: :) good late night Persephone
Torley Linden: All thsi power on your desktop!
Maggie Darwin: Bladecenter...
Barricade Slade: What's it like to work in Linden Lab?
Daedalus Young: must be a fully, truly 3D desktop then :)
ZHAO: Couldn't find animation Shy and Thoughtful Stand 5
Daedalus Young: holo-top
Alpha Prim: waves friendly @ JetZep nice to see you :)
JetZep Zabelin waves
Maggie Darwin: I have a holotop. Won't wear it here though. :-)
JetZep Zabelin: =) howzit
ZHAO: Couldn't find animation Shy and Thoughtful Stand 5
Barricade Slade eats watermelons
Gwendolyn Cassini: anyone tried Dazzle yet?
Barricade Slade: I tried dazzle
JetZep Zabelin: im about to try it soon
Daedalus Young: I bet when the first real holotop comes out, everybody will make it go "help me obi-wan kenobi, you're my only hope"
Marianne McCann: I haven't. I dun wanna give up my windlight
Dirk Klees: no...i'll start testing it when it comes with windlight :P
Gwendolyn Cassini: lol
Alpha Prim: nods I tried would love to see the combination with windlight etc. :)
Gwendolyn Cassini: even mr Windlight made his past 35 videotuts with Dazzle
Gwendolyn Cassini points at Torley
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/19177
Barricade Slade: lol
JetZep Zabelin: then they'll have nanotop and the halos be obs
Torley Linden: Wha? I didn't make all past 35 with Dazzle!
Dirk Klees: the only thing i regulary test out is the nicholaz viewer
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Alpha Prim: don't let Pastrami hear that ^.^
Torley Linden: I like to show off what's cool out there. :o)
Gwendolyn Cassini: last week you posted 35 new videotuts
Gwendolyn Cassini: or at least a lot
Tamasin Demina: torley what is campus second life?
Torley Linden: Gwen, hmmm... not that I remember! 13 new Basics ones I think.
Barricade Slade: The "Basics:"
Kitty Tandino: Dazzle and Windlight need to be one.. that would rock!
Torley Linden: And yes, those do use Dazzle, in anticipation of the future.
Gwendolyn Cassini: oh ok 13 then hahaha kind of close ;)
Torley Linden: Kitty, yes, eventually they'll be in the same viewer.
Torley Linden: Dazzle is still fresh and new.
Torley Linden: It's a compliment tho to be associated with so many video tutorials!
Barricade Slade: Why aren't thwy together?
Barricade Slade: *they
Kitty Tandino: :) and it's alot better on the eyes :)
Gwendolyn Cassini: people are saying something like dropping some windlight info into a dazzle folder and then you have windlight in dazzle. never tried it though
Maggie Darwin: /light
Maggie Darwin: /light off
Barricade Slade: I dont think Second LIfe works like that
Daedalus Young: I know previously you could drop Dazzle stuff in the WL folder to get it working
Barricade Slade: I tried that
Gwendolyn Cassini: ohhh the other way round
Gwendolyn Cassini: did it work?
Barricade Slade: Windows and OS X didn't work
Alpha Prim: dazzle is the viewershell, windlight the graphics engine
Daedalus Young: I certainly did it on the main viewer at the time
Barricade Slade: it just made Second LIfe crash :(
Al Sonic: I tried to do that and SL wouldn't start.
Daedalus Young: there were instructions on the wiki, I followed them and it worked fine
Torley Linden: Barricade, basically, Dazzle needs to mature in First Look. WindLight is pretty mature. Also, putting too much in one viewer confuses a lot of people when it comes to bug reporting.
Gwendolyn Cassini: ok so better not playing with the files to much then
Barricade Slade: ah
Torley Linden: Even with WindLight, there's a lot of people who think things are WL-specific bugs when they happen in the RC (which WindLight is derived from) too!
Gwendolyn Cassini: Windlight is in the release candidate now right?
Barricade Slade: Is it possible to combine the 2
Torley Linden: Not yet Gwen, that's the next thing.
Siobhan McCallen: oooh, Maggie just had an out of memory crash...
Gwendolyn Cassini: ok interesting
Torley Linden: Barricade, eventually yes, after WindLight is in the main viewer, then Dazzle will move along its track (after maturing) to First Look.
Gwendolyn Cassini: im quite scared having windlight as main viewer though
Barricade Slade: How'd I stand up?
Barricade Slade: lol
Gwendolyn Cassini: ive spend hours and hours making trying to get the settings right
Torley Linden: "Release Candidate" basically means "OK, pretty good, we got past the preview phase and bugs have been squashed, now let's just make sure this is pretty stable".
Torley Linden: "First Look" is "Hey! Cool new stuff, it's a preview and not guaranteed to be stable, but have fun and help us make it better!'
Dirk Klees: crash :P
iTP: Updated.
Gwendolyn Cassini: and i just dont get it right so i can make proper ad photos
Daedalus Young: here's me running Dazzle already 115 days ago: http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=222626
Barricade Slade: lol
LN Freenote: sorry
Torley Linden: Yeah, you're a pioneer in that regard, Daed, when we first had the patch-it-yourself method.
Daedalus Young: yes, I just had to try it :P
Rock Pond Pose ball: llStopAnimation: Script trying to stop animations but agent not found
Gwendolyn Cassini: cool
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Torley Linden: Gwen, yeah, that is a bummer, as I've made so many WindLight settings too. Maybe someone could make an importer that works from reading notecards, or something.
Summer Seale: i love dazzle. but i just can't use it right now. i can't go back to the dark ages of pre-enlightenment. er...i mean windlight. i've hit my renaissance and i like it. =)
JetZep Zabelin: im glad how their tested for a long time before being added to the main client
Maggie Darwin: Memory leak.,...
Barricade Slade hands watermelon to Toley.
Torley Linden: Aye, it's important to give things some time... as reactions DO change over time.
Torley Linden: Thanks Barricade. =)
Barricade Slade: yw
Shockwave Plasma: it can only get better with havok 4 and Mono
Maggie Darwin: Noticed I seldom relog with all the attachments I left with, too.
Daedalus Young: I'd like to see the ability to change the WL clouds
Barricade Slade: Speaking od Havok 4...
Gwendolyn Cassini: the chat got some annoying bugs in Dazzle
Maggie Darwin: But at least they don't break as often.
Barricade Slade: When will all Second LIfe be Havok 4?
Gwendolyn Cassini: but i try Dazzle at least 4 hours a day
Torley Linden: Thanks, it's appreciated!
Please Stoop: sup torley
Torley Linden: Daed, yeah that's on the "todo" wishlist. Currently the texture can be changed locally, but not within the settings.
Torley Linden: Yeah Please. :)
Please Stoop: yeah?
Daedalus Young: I want to do a tut on the water normal maps anyway
Barricade Slade: And I found a bug o0
Torley Linden: It's pretty fun to change the water to something trippy...
Barricade Slade: With Second LIfe and quicktime
Torley Linden: What's that bug, Barricade?
Barricade Slade: It always gives me an error sayin I don't have quicktime installed
Kizna Oh: greetings
Daedalus Young: old version of QuickTime maybe
Barricade Slade: And doesn't let me watch video
LN Freenote: I had that with WL
Barricade Slade: I have the current version
LN Freenote: I went to apple and reinstalled quick time
Torley Linden: Barricade, I've seen this on occasion. Have you tried uninstalling QuickTime, then downloading the newest and installing? I think it's 7.4.1 (something something), maybe a bit newer.
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/19178
Maggie Darwin: Dangerous to run QT downlevel.
Torley Linden: I think there's actually a 7.4.1.something which is the latest.
Barricade Slade checks apple software update...
Dirk Klees: Hi Kiz
LN Freenote: it helped but it continues to be buggy
Al Sonic: Make sure it's really the newest version; it could be a quicktime updater issue.
Please Stoop: torley what is your favorite pizza topping
Summer Seale: i bet it's pineapple
Daedalus Young: why, melon of course!
Maggie Darwin: Latest WL update inisted on an QT uplevel too.
Torley Linden: Hahaha... I've never actually had a real watermelon pizza. But I do like pineapple.
PersephoneGea Clary: Unistall quicktime? nooo god its a big work }:-)
PersephoneGea Clary: imao
Summer Seale: \o/

Torley Linden: I wonder what a "classic" pizza wayyy back before it was commercialized looks like.
Siobhan McCallen: pepperoni, sausage, and BACON.
Please Stoop: torley i was trying to talk to you yesterday when cupid linden was flying around but you were afk :-\
Barricade Slade: LOL
Kizna Oh: warermelon on a pizza? o.0

Kitty Tandino: i like the white pizza!
Kitty Tandino: :D!
PersephoneGea Clary: pepperoni ? not thxs hawaian please
Al Sonic: Great, now ya've got me picturing a little-to-no-cheese pizza, with lots of olives... Haha.
Torley Linden: Tamasin, I'm not absolutely sure but I think it was part of an educational project giving academics a space to explore/teach in. Someone like Claudia or Pathfinder (historically) would know more!
Maggie Darwin: "It's a pork fat thing." --Emiril
Summer Seale: lol i know i'm hungry too now =)
Daedalus Young: didn't they only eat the pizza topping and threw the bread-part away?
Barricade Slade: Oh, I have a question about your alt accounts, that alot of people on youtube ask too...
Marianne McCann: I used to get the bestest pizza from a little hole inna wall place way-back-when. Never found one as good at the big names
Kizna Oh: try real original Pizza ^.^but just a warning: tastes bah
Kitty Tandino: summer i say we make the others cook lunch

Torley Linden: HAHAHA Maggie.
Kitty Tandino: all in favor?!
Summer Seale: i agree =)
JetZep Zabelin: lol
Torley Linden: Emeril cracks me up, so does Iron Chef. I like those theatrics.
Dirk Klees: Better dont try "real original pizza"....its some years overdue
PersephoneGea Clary: well sushi lool
Tamasin Demina: its a big think next to me, just always wondered, big emty space in cortina and next door in davos there are prims of yours under the road 0_o

Kitty Tandino: omg MARI!!!!!
Kitty Tandino: hugs baby girl~!
JetZep Zabelin: lol
LN Freenote: torley have you seen hulu?
Torley Linden: Tamasin, ah dangit, maybe I should clean that up. If you have a SLURL, I'll clean 'em up.
Marianne McCann blushes
Torley Linden: Never heard of or tried spaghetti tacos, but that sounds awesome.
Gwendolyn Cassini nearly bought some sushi at naughty nibbles :) (SL that is)
Torley Linden: I like spaghetti, and I like tacos.
Barricade Slade: Finally
Torley Linden: LN: No, I haven't!
Tamasin Demina: i fel through on a sim cross, inspected and saw you lol
Barricade Slade: someone who thinks they sound good
Torley Linden: Naughty Nibbles? What a name for a store. :)

Kitty Tandino: ok we all going to torleys place for lunch
Barricade Slade: xD
PersephoneGea Clary: im very hungry grrrrr ommmg
Summer Seale: oh ya...torley...how come windlight doesn't have an "override" feature? i thought every computer system has one.... =) (always wanted to ask that)
Barricade Slade hands everyone water,=melons
LN Freenote: Have been trying to streem into SL
JetZep Zabelin: i wana help the public works but dont have 2 ppl i did inworld for for D:
Barricade Slade: *watermelons
Gwendolyn Cassini: lol let me find their lm they have some awesome looking scripted foods
Torley Linden: Summer, "override" what?
Summer Seale: everything
Summer Seale: you know...like in the movies
Gwendolyn Cassini: Naughty Nibbles; http://slurl.com/secondlife/Caribbana%20Boulevard/166/176/33
Barricade Slade: There is ALOT of people hjere
Barricade Slade: *here
Torley Linden: Please explain more, Summer?
Barricade Slade: more than I expected
Maggie Darwin: File/Quit will override just about everything.
JetZep Zabelin: ya, did you ever fill up the sim Torley?
Summer Seale: lol i'm just teasing =)
Siobhan McCallen: "Theres too much confusion...I cant get no relief"
Maggie Darwin: except the crash logger. :-)
Barricade Slade: I'm gonna come here every week :D
Torley Linden: I think it's happened before JetZep, and I had to raise the limit!
Torley Linden: :D
Torley Linden: I am appreciative!
Maggie Darwin preferred teh Jimi Hendrix version.
Barricade Slade: I love this place
JetZep Zabelin: wow very cool imagine 80 av's chatting LOL
Torley Linden: Thanks a lot!
Kitty Tandino: mal had a good thought abou t paintshop being made client side.. like having your own paint shop built in to client options.. making using paintshop etc not needed.. what do u think torley?
Gwendolyn Cassini: Torley did you see this video? Its an outcry by Ziggy Quirk about the recent texture thefts: http://youtube.com/watch?v=-1tA2NumNfw
Summer Seale: ya i love this place and the ambient music you have playing is always very nice.
Torley Linden: Haha this came out of my imagination.
Daedalus Young: I saw that vid
Kitty Tandino: "my typos have been brought to you today by the letters O M G!
Kizna Oh: <-- likes the building actuall ^.^ it's not a typical bad textured things with a lot of bad allignet box prims :p
Daedalus Young: I like how she pronounces her name :P
Barricade Slade: Anyonje ever tried a starax wand?
Summer Seale: ya
Torley Linden: Kitty, it could be good... I think if some Open Sourcers want to explore it... but it's unlikely to be developed officially by LL at this point.
Maldavius Figtree: Yeah imagine not having to have a copy of photoshop and just editing textures in world :o
Please Stoop gave you birdgangmix.
Gwendolyn Cassini uses Gimp
Kitty Tandino: would be a good thing
Barricade Slade: I wish I had a starax wand.
Daedalus Young: vertex painting
Marianne McCann: Barricade - I have friends who own em, but I never did, Very cool
Maggie Darwin: GIMP rocks.
Gwendolyn Cassini: yep its good, its free it works :)
Torley Linden: Gwen, no I haven't, but I'd caution the use of equating "theft" to "unwanted/illegal copying"... I'm not a lawyer but they're not the same.
Tamasin Demina: i just had an offer i cant refuse - dancing to morrissey so i'l see you all soon xx
Barricade Slade: i wish I could afford one xD I only have 2087l, and It was 10k i think, before it stopped selling
Daedalus Young: I couldn't get used to GIMP while I was still using an antikythera mechanism (aka Windows pc)
Torley Linden: HAHAHA Daed!
Daedalus Young: but since I got a Mac, I love it :P
Torley Linden: OMG, that cracks me up, referring to Windows as that.
Maggie Darwin: Seeya, Tamasin
Maldavius Figtree: x3
Gwendolyn Cassini: no this is about the textures ripping and then uploading them, and then selling them with the thieves as the creator
Torley Linden: I've bookmarked Hulu to check out later... my cable bill is too high and I don't watch TV a lot.
Maldavius Figtree: I never watch TV :o
Please Stoop: what is your favorite TV show
Daedalus Young: yeah, so people can get high quality clothes for a low price, but that rips off the original creator
Shockwave Plasma: TV , that so 20th century
Dirk Klees: Count Series too?
Barricade Slade: I don't mean to be nosy, but how much is a Linden paid?
Gwendolyn Cassini: Gilmore Girls: to bad its over
Kitty Tandino: since i was born in SL.. the TV flew soth
Torley Linden: I like Heroes a lot.
Torley Linden: I used to like Arrested Development.
Jei Desoto: Never thought i'd see someone else say they watch very little or no TV...
Kitty Tandino: south*
Torley Linden: Back in the 90s, My So-Called Life and I used to watch Friends.
Maldavius Figtree: Heroes is actually win
LN Freenote: Set up as Beta try to sign up but let me know if you have problem
Dirk Klees: Dr. House
Kizna Oh: <-- has to go again ^.^
Summer Seale: i used to watch friends! =)
Kizna Oh: later all ^.^
Gwendolyn Cassini: before SL i used to watch tv
Summer Seale: i grew up on that
Dirk Klees: bye kizzi
Torley Linden: Hiro Nakamura is my fave character on that series.
Torley Linden: Thanks LN!
Maggie Darwin: Barricade, why don't you just break down and submit a resume? :-)
Kitty Tandino: omg i loved that show!
Maldavius Figtree: Hirooooo
Daedalus Young: I often have the tv on late in the evening/waerly night, to watch South Park and that 70s Show
Siobhan McCallen: They probably pay Lindens in the noses of the people who ask that question.
Gwendolyn Cassini: but since 15 months i hardly watch it hahaha
Kizna Oh: <-- destroyed her TV with a strong magnetic field :p
Torley Linden: LOL seriously Kizna?
Kitty Tandino: rofl
Barricade Slade: lol
Kizna Oh: yes ^.^
PersephoneGea Clary: omg crazys
Al Sonic: I've heard of out the nose, but in the nose?
Maggie Darwin: We got fiber for SL...200channels of TV came with it. Someday we'll watch it.
Dirk Klees: she uses a strong pacemaker... :P
Kizna Oh: some old box from my music thingy :p
Barricade Slade: I'm not that big of a computerr techie yet to be a linden
Maggie Darwin: Probably when BSG starts up again.
Siobhan McCallen: april 4
CeeJay Tigerpaw: Torley, I sent you an EMail related to stuff we talk about here just after last week's office hours; I was not even sure I had routed it right. Offhand, do you remember getting it?
Daedalus Young: oh, I once found an article about making a degauss apparatus
Summer Seale: wow i haven't degaussed a monitor in a looong time =)
Torley Linden: CeeJay, sorry, no I don't! What was it about?
Kizna Oh: well anyway ^^ later ^.^ have to work on a Dial Computer for my stargate xD
Daedalus Young: I love my flat screen :D
Summer Seale: that was alywas kinda fun to do tho
Maggie Darwin: They've been self-degaussing for years...
Torley Linden: And thanks for the friendship offers but I don't exchange friends on this account, please feel free to send an offer to my alt tho (Torley Olmstead). :)
Barricade Slade: And what exactly is your job as a linden?
CeeJay Tigerpaw: Had to do with an idea about making it easier for users to exchange gifts ...
Siobhan McCallen: cya kizna
Torley Linden: Barricade, making video tutorials. And that's it...
Torley Linden: KIDDING!
LN Freenote: sorry
Barricade Slade: I thought it was torley tester?
Daedalus Young: lol
Kizna Oh: bye :)
LN Freenote: well I guess you know how to find me :)
Gwendolyn Cassini: Torley got tons of alts
Kizna Oh: and Super greeter just greetet me now :p
Torley Linden: Barricade, that works too but I forgot to mention Torley Tester wipes friendship lists too, Linden accounts.
Torley Linden: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/User:Torley_Linden#What_I_do
AlexanderThe Benelli: Hi torley, hi @ all, F*ck i missed quite a lot, stupid rl
Barricade Slade: ah
Torley Linden: So my main designation here at Linden Lab is with the Community Team but I cross over quite a lot.
Torley Linden: Hey Alexander! No worries, glad to see ya.
Torley Linden: E.g., I help Quality Assurance verify bugs, and assist Marketing/PR (video tutorials are tied into that).
Kitty Tandino pulls mally tail
Torley Linden: It's been hard to define in a single sentence what I do at Linden Lab, but I'd like to have a focus on Resident education and empowerment.
Barricade Slade: And, when you made the torley tester account, is that a custom lasdt name?
Torley Linden: Meaning, "How to use Second Life".
Torley Linden: And related tools.
Maggie Darwin remebers Torley posting into the sitTarget Jira,
Shockwave Plasma: Torley of all trades ?
AlexanderThe Benelli hears "video tutorials" and thinks "translated!" video tutorials? :P
Torley Linden: Barricade, it's sort of... "Tester" is only used by Lindens.
AZULL Ash: oops greetings all
Dirk Klees: At least, you're one of the most famous Lindens :P
Barricade Slade: ah
Barricade Slade: Everyone loves torley :D
Torley Linden: It's nice to be famous. Well, some aspects of it, anyway. I was very introverted as a kid, so it's lovely to share video tutorials now.
Torley Linden: <3
Marianne McCann snickers
Dirk Klees: sure :P
AlexanderThe Benelli 's favorite Linden is....TORLEY
Gwendolyn Cassini <3 Torleys voice
Barricade Slade: My favorite Linden is torley too :D
Torley Linden: I encourage being memorable, otherwise... people forget who you are, and it's like you never existed. And that's so sad.
Dirk Klees: mine too
Please Stoop: torley how can i apply to be featured in your next video
Kitty Tandino: ❤❤❤❤❤Torley Linden Rocks!❤❤❤❤❤
Summer Seale: oh yes, torley, you might want to read this, about a brain waves detection headset coming out for about $300 this year - moving stuff by thinking about it: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7254078.stm
Torley Linden: That's so nice of you guys! I'm both flattered of course, but am kinda shy about being the center of attention. If I do good things, it's because I've learned a lot from others.
Marianne McCann: Torley - I was pretty introverted as well. I tink there's somethign to be said for the internet, with bringin' peoplr out of shells
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/19179
Torley Linden: Summer, thanks, I heard about that from my wife too.
Maldavius Figtree: Your right torley, no matter what you do leave your impression
Summer Seale: i thought of you when i read that
Torley Linden: Please, I do them spontaneously, there's no application process.
Al Sonic: I'm familiar with that feeling.
Summer Seale: ya it look s really cool =)
Torley Linden: I just "let things be".
JetZep Zabelin: o.O
Maldavius Figtree gave you HL2 Melon.
Please Stoop: ok
Maggie Darwin: Too many SL users can't use a brainwave detector.
Jei Desoto: (n.n)
Please Stoop: i will be in your next video torley
Torley Linden: Hehe thanks for the HL2 Melon, does that stand for "Half-Life 2"?
Maldavius Figtree: Yes XD
Al Sonic: Yep.
JetZep Zabelin: Hey its they best way to be creative relly
Kitty Tandino: xD
Maldavius Figtree: I made a few gibs for it as well was shooting them so they explode into bits
Barricade Slade: What mic do u use, i have a built in one, buy yours is sooooo clear :D?
Gwendolyn Cassini: grrr why cant i set my firefox as the default browser when clicking on an URL
Daedalus Young: you can of course try being online right here 24/7 and at Ahern, those seem regular shooting locations
Shaun Altman: Hi :)
Siobhan McCallen: maggie figured that out, Gwen
Daedalus Young: hi
Maggie Darwin: Gwen: I have an answer for you on that. Using Vista?
Siobhan McCallen: drove us nuts too
Barricade Slade: My default browser on windows is safari
Torley Linden: OKAY this is funny... I use a cheap-ass mic.
Barricade Slade: xD
Torley Linden: So this is the first time I'm going to share which model it is specifically...
Barricade Slade: that is funny
Maggie Darwin: Your ass talks too?
Torley Linden: HISTORY IS MADE!
Torley Linden: @_@
Summer Seale: lol
Maldavius Figtree: o.o;
Torley Linden: Long ago... I got a Logitech Orbit MP webcam.
Barricade Slade: So, how is your voic soooo clear.
Marianne McCann was happy to see a "SL Child" tag in one recent vidtut
AlexanderThe Benelli sees a small red hovertext... "2nd rezzday"...ohh..i knew it was ur rezzday (congratz again), but the second, mari? Wooow....i must seem quite a noob too you....
Gwendolyn Cassini: yes im using Vista powered by Dell
Claryssa Schmidt: happy rezday Marianne
Torley Linden: This was the first webcam I ever got... and I acquired it to talk with my wife (at the time, we were friends getting to know each other).
Marianne McCann: We all was new once, Alex!
Marianne McCann: Am I still always learn new stuff
Torley Linden: And along with the Orbit MP webcam, came a headset. Just a fiddly little loop-around-the-back-of-your-head thing.
Dirk Klees gave you Torley rulez.
Gwendolyn Cassini: but the thing is, even though i set my firefox as default in Vista
Barricade Slade: Did you meet your wife via sl?
Gwendolyn Cassini: Sl still picks IE as browser
Torley Linden: So I was like, "Hmmm... I need a mic. Well, might as well use this." And I figure it can't be worth more than US$10.
JetZep Zabelin: lol im still using a webcam mic to record my acoustic guitar playing
Torley Linden: But it seems to capture my voice pretty well, so I'm glad for that.
Shockwave Plasma: That why I have the Noobs pictue in my profile..so i don't forget
Marianne McCann will be having a big firework thing for her rezday tonight
Barricade Slade: My mic and camera is built in
Torley Linden: Note that I DO do some post-processing of my voice to make it more broadcast-ready and balanced. I use audio level compressors and a touch of reverb.
Marianne McCann: Shockwave. I took a piccie last night of me now and n00b me, standing together
Torley Linden: So even with a cheap-ass ;) mic, you can go a long way.
Dirk Klees: im still working with my first old webcam... surely you've never seen so much pixels in one window :P
Barricade Slade: I have some audi skills
JetZep Zabelin: yep
Barricade Slade: I get paid to upload sound basically
Daedalus Young: as long as it doesn't cut off too low, it should be ok
Barricade Slade: *audio
Siobhan McCallen: I hate my voice on SL. makes me sound old. :P
Barricade Slade: for transformers avs
Torley Linden: When recording your voice, have some headroom, between 0-12 dB if there's a lot of variation, between 0-6 dB if there's less.
Torley Linden: Don't want any clipping.
Barricade Slade: Ah
Torley Linden: Digital clipping is NASTY and I wish voice chat in SL had a limiter to prevent volume overloads/redlining.
Barricade Slade: My speakers aare built in too (botton of computer)
Gwendolyn Cassini: oh yeah
Torley Linden: It frustrates me when some Linden has their mic on too hot at a meeting and they sound like, evil or something!
AlexanderThe Benelli: Mhh..torley..have you talked to anybody form the...argh..was it "International relations team" -or whoever you wanted to talk to- regarding the translation fo the vid tuts (Yes this is the 1001st time im asking u this ;-) )
Barricade Slade: LOL
Torley Linden: It's all like AGRHEHEEHCARHRRHRHHRHHHH.
Gwendolyn Cassini: my speakers are build in on the bottom of my lappy and my mic is build in on the top of my screen
Shockwave Plasma: Sort of like Vader Linden?
Jei Desoto: Haha >xD
Torley Linden: More like DeathMetal Linden.
Torley Linden: In a bad way.
Torley Linden: It's not even "pleasing" distortion!
Barricade Slade: I loved your video tutorial with meloonzilla "I'M IN UR FACE STOPPIN UR EATZ!!!" XD
Daedalus Young: if you have a directional mic, you should notice voice sounds deeper when it's located closer to your mouth
Torley Linden: Alexander: I talked to them last some weeks ago, because they needed to do some other work first. I think it'll take awhile before there's more of a plan in place for video tutorial translations.
JetZep Zabelin: People have to learn the mic and volume combined can have 2-3 or more LEVELS
Marianne McCann: Shockwave: http://www.flickr.com/photos/marianne-mccann/2282701511/
Torley Linden: I believe a lot can be done with very affordable tools, you don't need what's expensive. Only buy pricier stuff if more affordable equipment doesn't satisfy your needs.
Torley Linden: It's important to be resourceful and learn your tools inside out.
AlexanderThe Benelli: kk, fair enough, just trying to *push* it again and again (mhh..actually i COULD go and create a jira for it....cause we all love jira^^)
Maldavius Figtree: I used to use airplane headphones :o
Marianne McCann: Torley - any suggestions for a good headset for SL, on a budget?
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
JetZep Zabelin: i used a headphones as a mic b4 hehee
Shaun Altman: sadly I must dash.. see u all soon
Barricade Slade: I like to use my iPhone headphones, so I don;t bother other people
Torley Linden: Yup Alexander, we haven't forgotten, it's a matter of "This needs to be done first before we can move onto the next step", our International Team is also developing relations with worldwide companies to have global business interactions. That's a big part of what they do and understandably time-consuming too.
Jei Desoto: That's for very sure... Even free stuff like Audacity and Blender can suffice over more expensive apps.
Kitty Tandino: aww TC Shaun :)
Barricade Slade: I use audacity all the time
Summer Seale: audacity is great
Summer Seale: and free
Daedalus Young: I find audacity a bit tough to use
JetZep Zabelin: audicity is pretty good actually
Siobhan McCallen: audacity rocks
Daedalus Young: not very intuitive
Barricade Slade: Have NO CLUE how rto use blender
Maldavius Figtree: audactiy is great
AlexanderThe Benelli loves audacity
Jei Desoto: Has so many effects options... for free, it's amazing : 3
Shockwave Plasma: audacity is cool
Torley Linden: Mari, Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 is fairly good for US$25.
Siobhan McCallen: blender is...rather opaque
Torley Linden: I don't use it myself but my wife likes it.
Barricade Slade: I have alot of transformers sounds i made, wanna hear?
Maldavius Figtree: blender is rather good for freeware
Daedalus Young: Blender is hard to start with, but just search for the wikibook and follow the tuts
JetZep Zabelin: its almost comparable to say an older version of soundforge
Torley Linden: Blender's UI has been at odds with me, but I've seen great things created with it.
Maldavius Figtree: but it uploads oddly sometimes
AlexanderThe Benelli loves blender, but hates the way it does a few things
Daedalus Young: also search for Greybeard's video tutorials
Marianne McCann: Cool. I wonder if it'd work with th' iMac
Barricade Slade: It does
Marianne McCann can't figure out Blender at all
Barricade Slade: I works with os x, linuz, and windows
Torley Linden: We always have so many concurrent topics here. :) Hehe.
Maldavius Figtree: its like a bad version of 3ds max x3
Daedalus Young: Blender is really nifty, once you know it
Torley Linden: Mari, it should work fine with Leopard, according to: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-LifeChat-LX-3000-Headset-JUG-00001/dp/B000J4WPW8
Siobhan McCallen: I used to use a combination of Moray and POV-Ray to do renderings. POV-ray will do texture maps that can be loaded into SL
Gumby Roffo: Morning/Evening all soz im late( hangover)
Maggie Darwin is working the default Vista browser issue with Gwen in IM. :-)
Daedalus Young: you can simply hover over a colour, then hit ctrl-c to copy that to clipboard
Siobhan McCallen: I might try that again. Moray is fairly easy compared to Blender
Jei Desoto: Blender can be finicky, it can be confusing, but it seems to support alot of commonly used effects used in many games... Like vertex weights and softbody.
Maldavius Figtree: yes Jei
Maldavius Figtree: thats why its rather nice
Maldavius Figtree: you can also do particle work in it
AlexanderThe Benelli: @Headsets: I'm on the 2nd headset this year....every 4weeks i need a new one...and im using 50-75€ logitech ones...what am i doing wrong??
Daedalus Young: I do most my 2D work in Blender too, really
Maldavius Figtree: since its free thats a great tool
JetZep Zabelin: there's pretty good wiki-style blender tutorials
Daedalus Young: made an entire texture pack with it
Barricade Slade: torlery, do you know of any plans for Second LIfe to have a built in translator?
Torley Linden: Learn by doing!
Summer Seale: i found that expensive headsets bork out a lot on SL voice. the cheaper ones work better.
Summer Seale: i dunno why that is but it just is
Torley Linden: Barricade, a system-integrated one? Not that I know of... there are Resident-made HUDs like Babbler tho...
Torley Linden: and I bet there are others.
Torley Linden: I haven't checked the latest developments in this field yet, however.
Jei Desoto: Yeah... i'm finally taking up sculpties, and Blenders doing them really nicely. hard to make models when you're used to adding and sumtracting geometry in other major projects... But it's learnable.
Jei Desoto: subtracting too even >xD
Dirk Klees: Hi Tru =)
AlexanderThe Benelli uses his headset nearly 24/7 in skype, and starts to love the built in mic in his laptop....it works better than 90% of the headsets
Truqueen Tebaldi: Hi Dirk
Maggie Darwin: Start button...default programs...Set program access and computer defaults...PUsh the three VVV..."Choose a default browser", uncheck "enable access" to IE
PersephoneGea Clary: well .. residents .. maniatics and .. people sl good afternoon or night, kiss bye
Barricade Slade: start button...
Daedalus Young: one nasty thing about sculpties in Blender is that the actual vertices are inbetween the texture's pixels
Barricade Slade: uhhh... lol
Daedalus Young: so it's not 100% accurate
PersephoneGea Clary: kitty kiss miki kiss torley big hugs bye!!
miki22 Voom: bye perse
Torley Linden: Take care PersephoneGea!
Torley Linden: :)
Barricade Slade: Bye.
Maggie Darwin: Unfortunately Gwen's browser is I18Ned to Dutch
Maggie Darwin: Bye, Persephone
Marianne McCann: Bye Bye!!
AlexanderThe Benelli: @mari:thanks for the workaround, had the IE issue, too
Daedalus Young: oh nee, alles in het Nederlands! wat een ramp :S
PersephoneGea Clary: thxs bye bye Marianne hehehehe
Barricade Slade: I never use IE
PersephoneGea Clary: kissss sweeties
Barricade Slade: I use Safari
Shockwave Plasma: Comment left Marriane, Bye
AlexanderThe Benelli: *sry, "maggie" not "mari"
Jei Desoto: Daedalus: Yeah... i found a way around that myself... But even then the artifacts second Life can creat on upload makes them look like chewed bubblegum.
Marianne McCann: cool
JetZep Zabelin: ctrl-alt-delete, shut down iexplorer.exe
Maggie Darwin: Alex: Sure...it was driving us nuts here
Torley Linden: Jei, are you using lossless?
Daedalus Young: lossless upload should fix the artifacts
Torley Linden: What Daed said. :)
Marianne McCann: Ya, goin nuts trying to get a good sculpt daty dun look like like play dough
Summer Seale: there is a lossless uploader at the wiki someplace
Daedalus Young: this one is uploaded lossless
Torley Linden: The world needs more easy 3D tools.
Summer Seale: i use it
Torley Linden: They'll come.
Barricade Slade: Yeah
Al Sonic: "Chewed bubblegum"... heh, great description. Hopefully they'll get lossless working perfectly soon.
Marianne McCann: I agree, Torley
Summer Seale: most of the chewed up parts of sculpties are because of lossless bug
Torley Linden: Cel Edman's sculptie pack templates have been pretty cool, he knows a lot about sculpties.
Jei Desoto: Well, it makes them better, but i found that makeing them seem completely accurite, i used SLImageUpload. all my sharp edges and smooth sides were perfect. one object looked like several prims.
AlexanderThe Benelli: @Torley:Yes, it needs more 3d at all :P
Barricade Slade: The expensive ones are like "what does this do???"
Summer Seale: ya SLImageUpload is the one
Summer Seale: it works very well
Marianne McCann: COOL, JEI
Torley Linden: Haha yeah, such a learning curve, Barricade. That's because, in part, some of the oldest have a lot of baggage and history.
Marianne McCann: Where is this SLImageUpload?
Summer Seale: it' son the wiki someplace
Siobhan McCallen: yes, what is that?
AlexanderThe Benelli: Qarls office hrs have some nice info on sculpties
Summer Seale: it's a free windows program that lets you upload sculptie textures to SL without it being garbled
Summer Seale: it works very well
AlexanderThe Benelli: Seifert Surface presented a nice sculptie....it "says" the LoD
Summer Seale: ya qarl has wonderful meetings
AlexanderThe Benelli: e.g. if u are close and the LoD=high, it reads "high"
Marianne McCann: drat. It's Windows-based. Oh well
Summer Seale: yes
Barricade Slade: I managed to sculpt an apple logo, that looks like a baloon lol
Jei Desoto: i'm getting the conversation off track <= | Sorry <: |
Torley Linden: Qarl's a good guy, and for anyone who doesn't know, he was the main Linden who brought sculpties to Second Life. 'Course I don't like to miss out any contributors but he's synonymous with 'em.
Summer Seale: he's great =)
AlexanderThe Benelli: if ur quite a bit away it says "med" and if u are far awawy =>Lod=Low., the sculptie reads "low"
Torley Linden: Qarl previously worked on The Matrix movies.
Daedalus Young: only thing with lossless is you can't bulk upload lossless images, but luckily there's a JIRA for that: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-4221
Summer Seale: he has an awesome building at his sim
Shockwave Plasma: doesn't he have his own little sculptie nnow ?
JetZep Zabelin: have you seen any other neat sculpty avatars?
Summer Seale: lol you mean his baby?
Barricade Slade: Torley, can you sculpt?
Shockwave Plasma: ;-)
Daedalus Young: I've seen dragon sculpted avatars and stuff
Siobhan McCallen: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/SLImageUpload
Daedalus Young: really cool
Summer Seale: i was gonna leave him a sculptie box of pampers last time as a joke, but i didn't have time. =)
Torley Linden: Barricade, I have done some, but not a great deal. I'm still looking for a tool I can sit down with and really enjoy... of current contenders, Modo appeals to me. I've also used Sculptypaint (which is fun and free!) and some other apps.
JetZep Zabelin: Qarl is from the matrix! =)
Marianne McCann: HoofIt is startign to do some great sculpted horse avvies
Torley Linden: But as for advanced 3D work, no, haven't done that yet.
AlexanderThe Benelli: -) (<= u can do smileys without typing the ":")<=this was radom, useless information, but, hey, its late *g*
Gwendolyn Cassini: Wow Maggie thank you soooo much! Firefox is Default now even in SL!!!!!!!
Barricade Slade: Is sculptiepaint easy?
AlexanderThe Benelli: mhh..yes
Torley Linden: Sculptypaint is wayyy easy.
AlexanderThe Benelli: but it cant do much
Summer Seale: sculptypaint is fun! =)
Barricade Slade: mac version?
AlexanderThe Benelli: so its REALLY limited
Torley Linden: http://www.xs4all.nl/~elout/sculptpaint/
Maggie Darwin: We win!
Summer Seale: i use maya but i do play with other tools
Marianne McCann: Time f'r me to zip off
Marianne McCann: Have fun!
Al Sonic: Sculptypaint has become less and less limited with its new features.
AlexanderThe Benelli uses blender..without great results :-(
Summer Seale: sometimes it's faster to do a quick sculpt in a smaller tool than it actually is to do it in maya.
Jei Desoto: Funny thing is, i tried Sculpty Paint, and it really confused me hahaha >xD
Barricade Slade: kk
Daedalus Young: bye Marianne, have fun with the fireworks :)
Daedalus Young: and be careful too :P
AlexanderThe Benelli: cu mari!
Torley Linden: Sculptypaint reminds me of demoscene stuff, that's a good thing.
Torley Linden: T'care Mari!
Marianne McCann: Thankoo, Daedalus - I will!
Shockwave Plasma: Bye Mari
Barricade Slade: I'm tryin to figure out a way to scult the alphabet
Marianne McCann: You too, Torley - have a fun weekend!
Marianne McCann: Bye Bye!!
Torley Linden: =o)
Barricade Slade: *sculpy
Gwendolyn Cassini: By mari
Al Sonic has this annoying feeling where he thinks he wanted to say something but doesn't know what.
Barricade Slade: *sculpt
Gwendolyn Cassini: happy rezday again :)
Al Sonic: Oh, I remember one thing.
Torley Linden: I know how that feels, Al!
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
LN Freenote: Bye all Have a good weekend
Barricade Slade: Does scultypaint have a mac version?
Daedalus Young: I've seen sculpted alphabet, was simply protruding from a plane
LN Freenote: TY Torley :)
AlexanderThe Benelli: Has anyobdy played with an offline tool to built with "Normal prims"??
Daedalus Young: sculptypaint should have mac yes
Torley Linden: Daed: I think Anjin Meiji made one.
Barricade Slade: But is there a mac version
Daedalus Young: yes, I do believe it was Anjin's, Torley
Summer Seale: seeya all. have a good weekend =)
AlexanderThe Benelli: A good example is the "munich" sim, its nearly 100% built in 3dsmax
Summer Seale: see you torley, thank you =)
AlexanderThe Benelli: But with "normal" prims
Summer Seale: i'll have to give you my magic sparkle wand soon
Barricade Slade: Anyone ever been to light waves's sim?
Daedalus Young: of course
Daedalus Young: Greenis Home
Torley Linden: See ya Summer, and you're welcome!
Barricade Slade: EVERYTHING is sculted there
Gwendolyn Cassini: Greenies, really interesting to se
Torley Linden: I like a lot of Light Waves' sculptures. Black Swan is awetastic.
AlexanderThe Benelli: light waves? which one? ah...the "ring in the water" one?
Barricade Slade: The starax
Gwendolyn Cassini: to be honest ive never been to actual cool or classic sims...
Daedalus Young: Black Swan, that's very very well made
Barricade Slade: Starax Stoosky (did i spell it right)
Maggie Darwin: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Applications_open_IE_on_Vista
Gwendolyn Cassini: noone told me where to find them
Daedalus Young: great use of sculpties + textures
AlexanderThe Benelli: ahh...yep
Barricade Slade: *statosky
Torley Linden: Black Swan is so incredible and detailed, yet has room for space.
Daedalus Young: as for the Greenies, do check out https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Issue_Tracker ;)
Shockwave Plasma: Rezzable sims are great
AlexanderThe Benelli: rezzable sims?
Gumby Roffo: Riot mech is very nice, if you like buildings
AlexanderThe Benelli: u mean a "sim in a box"?
Barricade Slade: I am stiunned with his sculpted prims!
Maggie Darwin: We're blogging our favorie places on http://www.second-place.org
Barricade Slade: *stunned
Daedalus Young: yeah, Black Swan and Greenies are owned by the company Rezzable
AlexanderThe Benelli bookmarks this url
AlexanderThe Benelli: ahh
AlexanderThe Benelli: kk
Daedalus Young: they also have Toxic Garden
Al Sonic: I remember you mentioning footsteps in one tutorial... as one of the 'Ambient' sounds. Well I haven't heard footsteps in a long time, even though I hear wind. It's like it's always stuck playing wind.
Gwendolyn Cassini: aw thanks Mag, i certainly going to inspect that blog
Summer Seale gave you <3 Summer Seale <3 - Magical Particle Wand (Boxed).
Torley Linden: There's a lot of nice Rezzable atmospheres.
Shockwave Plasma: I'm hoping to drop in to the Rezzable office one day soon
Gwendolyn Cassini: because i feel like i am missing out so much fun with all those special sims
Torley Linden: Al, they're kinda soft and very unreliable.
Torley Linden: Kewl Maggic, I shall check it out!
Maggie Darwin: Sio and I do that one with Ordinal Malaprop's SLURLBLogger
Al Sonic: (Not that I would hear wind all the time, but proportional to how fast I'm moving.)
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/19182
Torley Linden: Footsteps sound like crunchy, horrid little 8-bit things, and they don't sound consistent with your actual steps.
Daedalus Young: and camera position matters too for wind
Siobhan McCallen didn't remember that the tool she was using for sculpties was Sculptypaint, until she checked her laptop...
AlexanderThe Benelli: wind is quite a funny thing...i start hearing it irl...lol
Siobhan McCallen: thanks for reminding me of the name, Torley
Torley Linden: Haha.
Daedalus Young: you can hear it, then rotate a bit and it'll stop
Torley Linden: It's fun tho, with the wind, to fly somewhere and hear it "whistle".
Barricade Slade: You may need to send group notices when we're gonna do this, cuz i'll prolly forget
Torley Linden: And how it changes with avatar movement.
Gwendolyn Cassini: 8 bit sounds are cool! *thinking of her NES 8 bit
Torley Linden: I like most 8-bit stuff, just not those darn footsteps.
Torley Linden: ;)
Gwendolyn Cassini hums the Mario Bros tune
Siobhan McCallen: SLurlBlogger is cool. Lots of fun.
Daedalus Young: it's funny when you're moving fast and an IM comes in, that IM sound also is dopplered :P
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Maggie Darwin: I rember my 8-bit portable compy. Ran CP/M.
Shockwave Plasma: Ordinal always does great stuff
Jei Desoto: i love 8-bit too... but the steps sound like computerized gravel...
Al Sonic: Yeah, that'd an awkward behavior Daedalus.
Torley Linden: HAHAH Jei, that's a great summary of it.
Torley Linden: LOL Daed!
Gwendolyn Cassini almost never flies. So my flying skills are lacking a lot
Barricade Slade: LOL
Torley Linden: Ryan Linden made the original UI sounds.
Maggie Darwin flies a real plane in RL
Torley Linden: Be in Second Life but not fly? How bizarre!
Gwendolyn Cassini works to hard in SL
Torley Linden: There should be a group of joke protesters who are anti-flying in Second Life. ;)
Siobhan McCallen o.O's at the concept
AlexanderThe Benelli has "wings"=>fly!!!!
Torley Linden: I remember one lame Star Trek: TNG episode where there was this scientist who was against warp travel.
Gwendolyn Cassini: working on content creations or talk/teach new residents that visit
Siobhan McCallen builds starships..
Torley Linden: Speaking of starships, haha!
Daedalus Young: I remember my 1st day, at the end of OI I needed to fly over a canyon sort-of thing
Siobhan McCallen: lol
Jei Desoto: Torley: heheheh yeah, it's a bit weird... But i even have flying disabled where i am, because it's for the theme of the place <: )
Daedalus Young: that turned out more of a jump :P
Maggie Darwin annoys sim owners who turn flying off. ctt-alt-V is your friend
Gwendolyn Cassini: yeah since my newbe days I have almost never flown
Gwendolyn Cassini: i fly once a week the most
JetZep Zabelin: haha i came to sl to fly
Torley Linden: Ahhh, yes.
Dirk Klees: I use elevators :P
Torley Linden: Portable elevator magic time, ooh la-la!
AlexanderThe Benelli thinks we talked about the admin options (ctrl+alt+v) last week...any news, torley?
Barricade Slade: lol
Saphire KaizenGames: hello ppl ^^
Gumby Roffo gave you SHADO2_001.
Saphire KaizenGames: good afternoon ^^
Dirk Klees: Hello Saphire
Siobhan McCallen: I try to be nice to them and at least wear my steampunk jetboots. :)
Jei Desoto: i jump... even in fly ploaces, i fly only if i have to : 3 But i'm a strange one : )
AlexanderThe Benelli: hi saphire
Gwendolyn Cassini: yes the good thing is in Dazzle that you cant retrieve textures uuid's in admin mode
Torley Linden: Alexander, no, but it's still "in the queue" to make them behave more consistently.
Jei Desoto: places*
Daedalus Young: I do like those escalators you sometimes see with poseball that slowly takes you to the next level
Maggie Darwin has a physics-mode three seat spaceship/submarine she can rez from a HUD
Torley Linden: Gwen, that should work in the release viewer too.
Torley Linden: Or at least, the RC, if it doesn't.
Gwendolyn Cassini: i tried
Torley Linden: I don't remember where/when that fix was checked in, but wasn't too long ago.
Gwendolyn Cassini: and the texturs UUID's cant be retrieved in Dazzle anymore
AlexanderThe Benelli: kk, in the queue at least means some1 noticed the problem :P
Gwendolyn Cassini: wich is a good thing
Dirk Klees: btw...elevators... on the beta grid they regulary fall from the sky like dead bugs...
Siobhan McCallen: I tried it recently too, and it doesn't work anymore.
Dirk Klees: havok4
Gwendolyn Cassini: in admin mode i mean
Maggie Darwin: The texture UUIDs are hidden in WL too
Torley Linden: Havok 4 bug? Hmmm.
Harleen Gretzky: UUIDs stopped in 1.19.0
Siobhan McCallen: wasn't in a H4 sim.
Barricade Slade: Well, admin mode lets me fly in no fly zones lol
Dirk Klees: not sure if its a bug or the scripters have to change the engine
Torley Linden: Alexander, yeah there's a lot of stuff, and by "lot" I mean 100s and 100s of UI issues that need to be prioritized and grouped together in projects to be worked on.
Maggie Darwin: Elevator issues are known bug in H4...docesd in the release notes
Torley Linden: Thanks Maggie.
AlexanderThe Benelli: admin mode makes you 1)fly whereever u want...2)run scripts at all places 3)see the media urls....anyone knows something more?
JetZep Zabelin: Is there a willy wonka chocolate factory sim where i can ride in the elevator that flies in the sky?
Saphire KaizenGames: sorry was afk for a little
Barricade Slade: I think I need to make a group dedicated to torley :D
Harleen Gretzky: 2 is not true
Torley Linden: Alexander, (2) isn't accurate... even no-script zones, you can run scripts by flying high enough.
Gwendolyn Cassini: there are a couple Barricade
AlexanderThe Benelli: Mh...worked fine for me on "Kiss a Linden"
Daedalus Young: you can run scripts on no-script land already by simply flying up 150 or so meters
Barricade Slade: there are several lol
Torley Linden: It's been lovely being here and chatting with you! I have to go, and wish each and all of you memorable, enjoyable weekends!
Dirk Klees: thanks maggie
JetZep Zabelin: even just 100m
Claryssa Schmidt: bye Torley :)
CeeJay Tigerpaw: CUL Torley
Maggie Darwin: Seeya , Torley. Nice meeting you.
JetZep Zabelin: take care Torley
Gumby Roffo: Cheers Torley
Harleen Gretzky: bye Torley
Shockwave Plasma: Bye Torley, CU next week
Dirk Klees: so if its classified as bug i dont have to worry that my elevators will be worthless when havok4 comes :P
Gwendolyn Cassini: Bye Torley
Daedalus Young: bye Torley
AlexanderThe Benelli: @Torley; "2) run scripts at GROUND level at all places :P
Gwendolyn Cassini: may the Melons be with you
Jei Desoto: Have a good Weekend Torley : 3
Maggie Darwin hugs her melons
AlexanderThe Benelli: Cu torley!
Barricade Slade: lol
Dirk Klees: See ya Torley, have a great Evening! :)
Daedalus Young: ooh
JetZep Zabelin: lol
Harleen Gretzky: Not even at ground level is 2 true
AlexanderThe Benelli: Thanks for ur time!
Siobhan McCallen pokes maggie
Siobhan McCallen: be good
Al Sonic: G'bye!
Torley Linden: Bye bye for now! =^_^= Alexander, I've yet to see a repro for that... please make sure it's in the Issue Tracker @ http://jira.secondlife.com and send the # to me, I'll make sure our devs look at it!
Dirk Klees: For those who likes classics: http://youtube.com/watch?v=flkgNn50k14
CeeJay Tigerpaw: Or if you are not good, don't tell...
AlexanderThe Benelli: @harleen: I will check on that in a second
Torley Linden: FRIENDLY GOODBYES! :)
Maggie Darwin hugs Sio's melons
