icktoofay Kamachi: FRIENDLY GREETINGS!
lexus Akroyd: Hello Torley
Torley Linden: i am Torley McLinden... ha ha ha
Omegadon Aeon: Hey torley
Emilylo Mayako: Friendly Greetings, Torley!!
Lars Donardson: yes..like the rubber-band walk...just a step to the left...and then a jump to the right....
Torley Linden: FRIENDLY GREETINGS!
Al Sonic: Torley's gonna have to update his picks; I still use them for getting here, yet they were out of date.
Squirrel Wood: Hello, Torley McLinden!
Torley Linden: glad you each and all could make it
leafour20 Klubov: Friendly Greetings! :)
Torley Linden: HAHAHAHAHA
Latok Neumann: hello mister McLinden : )
Lars Donardson: or was it forward and then back
Torley Linden: YES, Al, you're right
Torley Linden: thanks for the reminder
Geneko Nemeth: Darn, someone took my chair.
Ewan Mureaux: oh dear what a fashion faux pas, the day i go and wear mine
leafour20 Klubov: TORLEY FOR PRESIDEN!!!
Torley Linden: there, i've relandmarked them
Master Nestler: lol
Torley Linden: Ewan, i must thank you for this
Al Sonic: Oh goodie ^_^
Torley Linden: thank and/or blame in the BEST OF WAYS
Torley Linden: hahahahaah
Lars Donardson: NOT if these colors become the official flag...lol
Imnotgoing Sideways: Konnichiwa <Hi> (^_^)
Emilylo Mayako: wow Torley is Human
Torley Linden: this is THE first kilt i have worn in Second Life!
lexus Akroyd: Thanks for tutorials Torley!
icktoofay Kamachi: I beat you to saying Friendly Greetings, Torley: [11:55] Torley Linden: OH MY GOSH [11:55] Torley Linden: WELCOME TO HERE [11:55] Torley Linden: FRIENDLY GREETINGS!
Ewan Mureaux: you are most welcome, can i take a photo for my friend ele?
Torley Linden: so yes, i'm humaniform today
Torley Linden: and you are SO welcome icktoofay!
Emilylo Mayako: hi Immy
Torley Linden: you SURE can Ewan!
Torley Linden: want to stand near me... or want me to get up... or what
Master Nestler: Friendly Greeting :)
Torley Linden: what an exciting day
leafour20 Klubov: Friendly Greetings! :)
Torley Linden: hahaha it's so trippy to hear my own voice
Torley Linden: HAHAHA
Ranos Brumer: ahhh
leafour20 Klubov: hahaha
Squirrel Wood: Now this here is the true Watermelinden Land ^^
Latok Neumann: hehe
Torley Linden: that's sort of a distorted sample tho, should get a cleaner one
Torley Linden: so true Squirrel
Torley Linden: oh btw Squirrel Soft Linden was showing off the picture of your terraformer with the FACE
Torley Linden: i thought that was awesome
Lars Donardson: I TOLD Master last time..there is a tutorial for audacity
Lars Donardson: hehe
Naxos Loon: hi sinners
Squirrel Wood: heh
Squirrel Wood gave you tf_face.
Marty Gausman: hey there
Master Nestler: lolol
Torley Linden: Lars, ah yes... i'm going to showcase more free resources this week...
Omegadon Aeon: Love the new SIM you have Torley
Geneko Nemeth: It's still a bit umm, tight here....
Torley Linden: oh yeah the tf_face you sent that to me before too
Torley Linden: thanks a lot Omegadon
Torley Linden: so eventually i may expand this office given ALL THE ROOM WE HAVE HERE
Torley Linden: but for now it was mainly a matter of copy and paste
Marty Gausman: still looks like watermelons lmao
Al Sonic: *looks around...* O.O Oh wow.
Squirrel Wood: Now you can have true watermelon seats ^^
Torley Linden: yes, it had better be, if it was squash or honeydew... *wrong place*
Latok Neumann: sure it is crowded here, but it makes it cosy and persona;l
Emilylo Mayako believes you
Torley Linden: yeah, a bunch of things came together... i needed a place to QA more stuff and do other tests and increase video tutorial awareness
Torley Linden: Latok that's one of the first thoughts i had
Al Sonic: XD Wow, it really is Torley-land!
Ranos Brumer: Who cuts your grass. Its done is such straight lines.
Torley Linden: and then i was like, "oh gosh, an island... would... be... nice"
Torley Linden: Ranos, invisible gnomes ;D
Torley Linden: hahaha
Latok Neumann: :)
Lars Donardson: and get rid of the neighbors that you blinded with the bright colors
Lars Donardson: :p
Torley Linden: in first life i hate cutting grass, oh my gosh
earring with emoter: Could not find animation 'zunge'
CeeJay Tigerpaw: Laggy, though ...
Rock Pond Pose ball: llStopAnimation: Script trying to stop animations but agent not found
Geneko Nemeth: You can sit here, Al...
earring with emoter: Could not find animation 'zunge'.
Geneko Nemeth: But gotta be quick.
CeeJay Tigerpaw: The great RL secret of grass is to plant roses.
Ranos Brumer: woot Gnomes
Torley Linden: i am trying to keep things minimal here relatively speaking sooo even though some areas may have dense stuff, if there are performance concerns i can attend to them
Omegadon Aeon: Gnomes are squishy :D
Al Sonic: Ah, thank goodness for self-maintaining virtual lawns.
CeeJay Tigerpaw: Every rose that goes into the ground means there is a square meter of lawn you will never have to mow again.
Omegadon Aeon: brb
Torley Linden: i need to give AWESOME THANX to my wife Ravenelle Zugzwang for helping me build it out... i gotta tell ya, in spite of all the wonders of Second Life, it doesn't have a quick enough equivalent or replacement for frantic screaming and hand-waving, "OVER THERE! OVER THERE!"
Emilylo Mayako: yay
leafour20 Klubov: lol
Ranos Brumer: yes but you mjust tend to the roses
Torley Linden: lol to see the "smart heap = dumb heap"
G.A.M.S. gundam jetpack: All Go
Torley Linden: i actually have a texture that's a combo of watermelon + crystals + roses
Torley Linden: three of the most beautiful things
Emilylo Mayako: wow
Geneko Nemeth: Is that a challenge?
Torley Linden: Master that's a fun Wall-E av, i want one but haven't found a really convincing Eve avatar yet...
Torley Linden: i'd like to go WALLL-E
Torley Linden: bless Ben Burtt
Master Nestler: YAY! (yay!)
Marty Gausman has a question: why can't sculpties be rezzed as temporary objects (like in explosions or something)
Torley Linden: Geneko: is what a challenge? :)
Torley Linden: Marty, hmm i haven't tried that yet, i didn't know that was a limitation
Geneko Nemeth: The "no equivant to 'OVER HERE'!" one.
icktoofay Kamachi: I saw something a whuile ago that said your second favorite fruit is strawberries, Torley.
Torley Linden: sculpty debris sounds pretty cool if it could load in time (and not be stuck in spheres since explosions happen fast)
Torley Linden: Geneko, yes, because natural body gesticulation is so much easier
Torley Linden: i was jumping up and down and pointing to my wife's screen
Torley Linden: TRUE, icktoofay
Torley Linden: i tend to get very excited about Second Life
Torleyite (CLICK ME FOR TIPS!) shouts: Want to see everything your avatar is wearing? Search your Inventory for '(WORN' or go to Edit menu > Detach Object.
Imnotgoing Sideways: "Tend to". (=_=)
Torley Linden: so many great avatars here
Geneko Nemeth: Hmm... some kind of beacon, maybe...?
Torley Linden: oh Imny you should see me in a mellow phase... like... not so talkative
Marty Gausman: yeah, but if it happens more often the sculptie should already be loaded on the client, would make it faster, wouldn't it?
Imnotgoing Sideways: Heh... we thought you crashed when you did that last time. (^_^)
Ranos Brumer: Hey!
Torley Linden: Geneko, yeah, but part of the problem is still that we can't as easily position our avatars as we can our fine-tuned digits
Torley Linden: hahaha
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/23750
Al Sonic: Hm, have caching issues with that?
Torley Linden: hey Ranos, nice shirt :)
Ranos Brumer: lol ty
Lars Donardson: Did that happen recently or is the century not over yet Torley ;)
Ranos Brumer: Just saw the vid today
Torley Linden: oh right on!
leafour20 Klubov: !!!!TRILLION YEARS!!!!
Torley Linden: BILLIONS AND BILLIONS... like Carl Sagan
Emilylo Mayako Pokes Immy ( from way over here)
Imnotgoing Sideways giggles.
Ranos Brumer: wow graphics bogged down there
Imnotgoing Sideways: Did you use a stick? (o.o)
Geneko Nemeth: 26 agents in region.
leafour20 Klubov: noone here better be playing SL on a telephone
Emilylo Mayako: yeah wel kinda
leafour20 Klubov: or it will take you a
Marty Gausman: does anyone here know how to uninstall first life? I'd like to stay in second life 24/7 lmao
leafour20 Klubov: !!!!TRILLION YEARS!!!!
Ewan Mureaux: i took a couple of nice pics with second life shadows yesterday
Ranos Brumer: lol marty
leafour20 Klubov: to experience it
leafour20 Klubov: HAHAHAhahah
Torley Linden: Marty, the path to uninstalling first life is fraught with complications... lol!
Lars Donardson: FL is a myth Marty..just ignore it
Ewan Mureaux gave you Shadows @ Imprest.
Imnotgoing Sideways: There is no spoon... (o.o)
Marty Gausman: is LL working on that problem?
Torley Linden: oh nice pictures! *watching*
Emilylo Mayako giggles.
lexus Akroyd: what software do you use to record the tutorials?
Master Nestler: hold on unstalling First Life
Torley Linden: Marty: you can count on it :D
Torley Linden: lexus, i use Camtasia
lexus Akroyd: Thanks
Torley Linden: full details @ http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/User:Torley_Linden/Vidtut_process :)
lexus Akroyd: k
Squirrel Wood: Once first life crashes or blue screens you can call yourself lucky is a reboot fixes things :p
icktoofay Kamachi: The smiley is not part of the URL.
Marty Gausman: ok, then it'll only take like 200 years till that problem is fixed lmao
Torley Linden: so i'm sorry for that and i won't send postcards for the remainder of this but save pictures to disk
Torley Linden: oh my gosh it's crawling to 0.03... nyuuuuuuu
Ranos Brumer: Just remmber SL is only the alpha stage of the new form of rl.
Imnotgoing Sideways: Die typing hands!! Die!!! (>_<)
Master Nestler: leaf all i see is ur shoes lol
Entering god mode, level 200
Ranos Brumer: Did the sim drop?
Ranos Brumer: there it goes
Emilylo Mayako: Send Postcards to me anytime Torley!!
Torley Linden: we're still here but it's my fault!
Torley Linden: oh blame me!
Master Nestler: BOO
Torley Linden: i hope https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-2283 gets fixed eventually
leafour20 Klubov: torley do you have a watermelon helmet in SL?
Master Nestler: lol
Imnotgoing Sideways pokes Torley to shame. (=_=)
Ranos Brumer: oh ok
Squirrel Wood blames Torley :p
Ranos Brumer: hehe watermelon helmet would kick ass
LifeFactory Writer: :) Good day, All...cannot see a soul but trust the room is full!
leafour20 Klubov: hahaha
Marty Gausman: it's ALL torley's fault!!!!!
Squirrel Wood: high net time...
Naxos Loon: life!
Torley Linden: i DO have watermelon helmets! and happyhats!
Torley Linden: on this island... you will find... them
Torley Linden: ;)
LifeFactory Writer: Naxos! :) TY...
leafour20 Klubov: HAHAH niccce
Torley Linden: i made them extra big so they are hard to miss
Master Nestler: does it have sounds in it
Al Sonic: them...here...
Torley Linden: (sorry i can't reply to IMs at the moment)
leafour20 Klubov: ok nice
Torley Linden: Master, haha no, i would like one with a THUMPING animation
leafour20 Klubov: ima get me a watermelon hlmet soon
leafour20 Klubov: lol
Torley Linden: celebrating those joys... is incredible
Torley Linden: being without inhibitions!
Lars Donardson: hehe...and good news...there is a rumor that the dumb heap issues is going to get fixed in the next viewer cycle *keeps fingers crossed*
Ranos Brumer: I made a helmet once
leafour20 Klubov: out of watermelon?
leafour20 Klubov: lol
Ranos Brumer: no
Ranos Brumer: lol
Torley Linden: Lars, well not just a rumor but i do know from devs that we're planning on replacing SmartHeap...
Ranos Brumer: it was a paper bag
Torley Linden: so still *tentative* but it has been given serious merit
Marty Gausman: waaaaah snapshots, am I ruthed?
Torley Linden: which, as opposed to a mere rumor, has some ground :)
Geneko Nemeth: Wha who?
Lars Donardson: i use "rumor" until I actually see them go Torley
Lars Donardson: hehe
Imnotgoing Sideways: Marty... You are Ruth... Not just ruthed. (^_^)
Ranos Brumer: lol
Cozmos Enzo accepted your inventory offer.
Miter Lorefield made a vodka filled watermelon once.
leafour20 Klubov: !!!!TRILLION YEARS!!!!
Cozmos Enzo accepted your inventory offer.
Squirrel Wood knows there is also another fix in the works to keep the client from using thousands of handles
Ranos Brumer: what you mean?
Squirrel Wood: when the map window is open...
Squirrel Wood: 12.5 seconds net time ...
Squirrel Wood: 7.5s agent time
Torley Linden: this whole RC process is like being a collaborative chef or something... quick turnaround time and incremental rounds of getting the flies out of soup :p
Lars Donardson writes off 1.20.X and waits for 1.21
Torley Linden: SmartHeap brutalized me when i was recording events with lots of avatars
Torley Linden: i mean, specifically, those SmartHeap OUT OF MEMORY errors
Imnotgoing Sideways: Yeah.... Those SL5B videos were herkey jerkey. (>_<)
Ranos Brumer: I wanna see something
Torley Linden: and i was like "noo... don't crash me... i've been so good to you, SL!"
Lars Donardson points to his titler
Ewan Mureaux: see at the mitch k thing i stayed on and recording fine and your comp pisses on mine from a great height, was that just pure luck?
Torley Linden: Imny, well that was a combo of several factors: (1) i turned on avatar impostors and so performance was tolerable but, with all the avatars there, still slower, (2) i recorded at FPS of 10 because the resulting file... HUGE, and (3) i could've applied some interpolation frame fx but that adds to render time significantly
Torley Linden: i would crash whenever i moved my camera into the crowd
Torley Linden: Ewan, that is interesting and i wonder why... did you move your camera around a lot? (and funny way to compare computers)
Imnotgoing Sideways: (O_O)
Squirrel Wood: Any plans to film tutorials in HD resolutions? like, 720p or 1080p ?
Ranos Brumer: ok where is arc suppose to be?
Lars Donardson: RC13 crashed me all over the place..and Benjamin and a certain T. Linden (name obscured for privacy reasons)
Brunhilde Burt: howdy all ^^
Ewan Mureaux: well known creators and such
Ewan Mureaux: chat lag
Torley Linden: Squirrel not likely soon but "maybe" someday... because i keep things iPod/podcast standard-compliant for now, which is limited to 640x480
Ewan Mureaux: a little bit i wanted to see some people who were there
Imnotgoing Sideways: I had a chance to challenge my TreeLOD the other day.... You'll see the pics in my Snapzilla. (^_^)
Ranos Brumer: nvm
Torley Linden: the interesting thing is, if i went to higher resolutions, i wouldn't have to do zoom effects anymore
Imnotgoing Sideways: There were times when I dropped below 5FPS, but most of the time, it wasn't bad. (^_^)
Lars Donardson: chatlag......
Torley Linden: haha Lars
Geneko Nemeth: Hmm? How is that?
Geneko Nemeth: Oh.
Torley Linden: Ranos, Advanced menu > Rendering > Info Displays is where ARC is
Ranos Brumer: ya I found it
Geneko Nemeth: Is ARC even reliable? It shows me being only 205...
Ewan Mureaux: if anyone wants to see my experiments with second life shadows http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk190/ewan_mureaux/shadows.png and http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk190/ewan_mureaux/shadows1.png frame rate dropped from 26 to 10 though
Ranos Brumer: wanted to see who has the higest one
Imnotgoing Sideways: Geneko.. That sounds about right... I don't see any flexi or transparency on you. (^_^)
Torley Linden: i think part of the problem too, Squirrel, is recording at larger sizes will also hit framerate more substantially... i know some people claim to offer HD video tutorials but they're actually either upsampling the content, OR... they record standard apps which are easy to losslessly compress
Geneko Nemeth: And like, almost everyone around me has higher ARCs.
Torley Linden: Second Life is a codec challenge
leafour20 Klubov: TRILLION YEARS
Geneko Nemeth: I do have two flexi on me.
Ranos Brumer: and its Master
Imnotgoing Sideways: Not a lot. (^_^)
Torley Linden: Geneko, yes, it should adhere to the point chart... have you seen that?
Torley Linden: i once had an ARC of 400,000
Ranos Brumer: whoa
Ranos Brumer: lol
Imnotgoing Sideways: I have a feather suit that bumps me up to 4000. (^_^)
Ranos Brumer: well master is at like 2.5k
Imnotgoing Sideways: 400K? (o.o)
Torley Linden: no, not kidding... i deliberately taxed the system
Emilylo Mayako: wow Immi
Squirrel Wood: ^^
Geneko Nemeth: Seen that, but can't really believe it... seems that chat is a bit reliable.
Al Sonic: But on the other hand, Geneko, you have, like, two textures?
Geneko Nemeth: *not reliable.
Torley Linden: i wore 255-prim cubes that were ALL flexi, transparent, etc. on every one of my attachment spots... just about... until i crashed
Squirrel Wood: The Quantum Core adds 130k to your ARC
Geneko Nemeth: Umm, yeah...
Imnotgoing Sideways: Lawl ^-^
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/23751
Torley Linden: what is this Quantum Core you speak of? educate me!
leafour20 Klubov: lol
leafour20 Klubov: i dont think u wanna know
leafour20 Klubov: its a greifer tool
Squirrel Wood: A sort of shield/weapon in one
leafour20 Klubov: hud
Imnotgoing Sideways: It's kinda like the "other Mysti". (^_^)
Torley Linden: it sounds vaguely familiar... ah, yes, our G-Team has mentioned
Ranos Brumer: lol
Geneko Nemeth: Sounds cool.
Torley Linden: i need to keep browsing SL Exchange and Onrez
Torley Linden: see what "goods" are on the market
Raynold Burt: greetings ^^
Torley Linden: Brunhilde, those are wicked biomech sculpties on your avatar
Squirrel Wood: quantum core is advertised as "preventing attacks before they take place"
Torley Linden: friendly greetings!
Lars Donardson: you better not hit "drop" when doing that Torley
Lars Donardson: I hate crashing sims
Lars Donardson: :D
Brunhilde Burt: ^^ TY
Torley Linden: Squirrel, that sounds like that violates the laws of physics!
icktoofay Kamachi gave you G- Team Ban Hammer.
Imnotgoing Sideways: Quantum core is one of the reasons scripts are blocked in Waterhead now. (=_=)
Ewan Mureaux: i've seen the creator looking for people misusing it though apparently if she knows you've misused it she de-activates it and refunds you
Ranos Brumer: ahh but aren't laws made to be broken?
Marty Gausman: I hope there'll be a groupinviter-bot from me there soon, on the market, still got trouble with C# lmao
Torley Linden: for everyone who hasn't been here yet... welcome to Here, this is my new estate... the purpose of which is obvious, video tutorials, Resident Enlightenment, and more fun!
Imnotgoing Sideways plans to adventure here after going home. (^_^)
Geneko Nemeth: Is there anyone who has...?
leafour20 Klubov: when is ur next tutorial torley
Koinup Burt: thanks for welcome Torley! its a pleasure to meet you (again)
Torley Linden: feel free to explore around and we'll be adding/changing more exhibits
Ranos Brumer: ya what is it?
Torley Linden: hey Koinup great to see you inworld again!
Omegadon Aeon: Its awesome being here
Omegadon Aeon: even if this is making me laggy :)
Torley Linden: and my next tutorial comes this SATURDAY... if you've been following my Twitter i've given hints hinty hintiness about what it will be about
Geneko Nemeth: It's awesome being Here!
Koinup Burt: what exactly is that Torley?
Torley Linden: ;D
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/23752
leafour20 Klubov: cool
Torley Linden: what exactly is what, Koinup?
Torley Linden: Raynold, your head has a lot of attitude. that's awesome.
leafour20 Klubov: i have been playin sl since 06 and i watch the tutorials just cuz im bored lol
Raynold Burt: leaf... greetings ^^
leafour20 Klubov: Friendly Greetings! :)
Torley Linden: haha i'm glad i can entertain
Koinup Burt: this pleace....its the first time I'm here.......so I'm wondering if you making some classes....or others....
Omegadon Aeon: what is your twitter torley/
Omegadon Aeon: Aah i got it :) was simple
Torley Linden: i may do events later on -- or expand office hours... we'll see... but mainly i wanted to put video tutorials and creativity into context, since it's hard to write about some of SL's joys without being HERE, IN THE SCENE
leafour20 Klubov: ive been waiting mad long to meet torley but i keep sleeping in on thursdays haha
Torley Linden: (hence the name)
Torley Linden: awwww leafour20 :)
Torley Linden: glad you could come!
leafour20 Klubov: HAHAHAhahah
leafour20 Klubov: ty
Al Sonic: He's a busy guy who teaches just by making lots of fun tutorials.
Torley Linden: Geneko i saw you AFK at Grasmere earlier, thanx for coming
Torley Linden: thanks Al
Rosemarie Gears: Ohh I'm *under* immy -.-
Koinup Burt: oh great!
Geneko Nemeth: Not really, I was bored.
Marty Gausman: btw, someone lately asked me if there'll be vid tuds in german language someday
Lars Donardson: there springs a question to mind Torley...but it may not be apt for this meeting..dunno
Torley Linden: i haven't taught an inworld class in a very long time... i'd like to help Help groups (we're gearing up on that with the V-Team) with resources and such
Torley Linden: oh go ahead and ask Lars
Torley Linden: Marty, if someone wants to translate me i'm certainly open to that
Imnotgoing Sideways: Under? (o.o) Torley... How solid is your floor here? (o.o)
Torley Linden: we also have a localization manager who is working on related projects (not the vidtuts right now) but... she'd be the expert...
Master Nestler: leaf crashed again lol
Marty Gausman: not me lmao my voice sucks lmao
Koinup Burt: really a great idea! Love this place and the your idea.......of tutorials......r
Lars Donardson: I was shaping the idea of a "treasure hunt" on OI including vidtuts that would contain the "hint" to the next station at the end
leafour20 Klubov: lol
leafour20 Klubov: i need ram
Imnotgoing Sideways: Ah.....
Torley Linden: i kinda think of how, even the Simpsons got translated into German... and who did Homer's voice ;)
Lars Donardson: a way to make the "learning of basics" more interesting
Imnotgoing Sideways: Konnichiwa <Hi> (^_^) Rose (^_^)
Torley Linden: Lars, i like that idea a lot;
Rosemarie Gears: Hello Immy
Geneko Nemeth: Hmm... I kinda forgot the name of that translation manager....
Lars Donardson: would you consider to be involved?
Torley Linden: so this place, Here (haha, puns!) is going to be experimental... i'm using it for R&D too
Ranos Brumer: sorry I'm back
Torley Linden: Lars i'd definitely like to hear more...
Imnotgoing Sideways: Retraction & Denial? (o.o)
Ranos Brumer: here lol
icktoofay Kamachi: Ranos, you're sorry that you're back?
Geneko Nemeth: Nyahahha...
Torley Linden: hahaha Imny
Ranos Brumer: ya
Ranos Brumer: lol
Omegadon Aeon: lol torley i am also following your flickr you are adding lots right now :)
Torley Linden: Flickr has been great to show off pictures
Lars Donardson: okies...when I have my ideas on paper (or in bits and bytes) I'll send it
Rosemarie Gears: you better open up a wormhole..at the very least! Hmmph. That's good R&D
Squirrel Wood: Torley, now you need another sim named "There" :p
Torley Linden: i have a parcel here which shows my photostream inworld :)
Omegadon Aeon: I love flickr
Omegadon Aeon: and twitter
Torley Linden: Squirrel, lol, well yeah, and one named Lively :p
Torley Linden: and then i'll put a cemetary in Lively, just to be ironic
Geneko Nemeth: Nyahahaha Torley.
Ranos Brumer: or one named and?
Master Nestler: i saw a pic of me on flickr
Koinup Burt: have you tried Lively, Torley? What's about it?
icktoofay Kamachi: What about a sim named "Watermelon Heaven"?
Omegadon Aeon: Yeah i saw that to Master Nestler
Imnotgoing Sideways: Wah... I saw Pathfinder on Lively... I tell ya' what.. I DON'T want those poses in my AO. (>_<)
Master Nestler: YAY! (yay!)
Geneko Nemeth: Watermelon Heaven ++;
Al Sonic: Lively... so far it really only competes with IMVU, right?
Ranos Brumer: Watermeland?
Lars Donardson: <- doesn't want a colorful chatroom for early teens on his pc
Imnotgoing Sideways: And, it turns out almost all my smileys trigger emotes there. (=_=)
Torley Linden: Koinup, yes i have, my wife made a very fun video, i wonder who involved in it came from other virtual worlds companies...
Torley Linden: because the style is somewhat of a hybrid
icktoofay Kamachi: Nuuu, "Watermelon Heaven"!
Imnotgoing Sideways: ニャ~♪
Torley Linden: i like the Lively animations for the wacky factor, but they are not controllable enough and trigger at awkward times
Geneko Nemeth: Nya?
Omegadon Aeon: Torley does your wife play around in SL as well?
Emilylo Mayako: ニャ~♪
Torley Linden: Omegadon she sure does... Ravenelle Zugzwang, she is often inworld
Torley Linden: :)
Omegadon Aeon: Thats awesome
Torley Linden: i met her on Second Life, infact
Koinup Burt: yes, I read the the lead designer is from IMVU and someone else is from There.com....
Torley Linden: i've gotten a lot from Second Life... found friendships, a job, love... i <3 giving back
Torley Linden: Koinup yeah i haven't actually *found* those articles yet but i'm curious
Ranos Brumer: woot
Omegadon Aeon: I have meet a few ppl now that have met there wifes in SL, how awesome is that!
Torley Linden: Jeffrey Ventrella, co-founder of There, worked for LL for awhile as a consultant
Geneko Nemeth: Torley is one of the few, Omegadon.
Torley Linden: he was one of the main guys behind flexiprims
Squirrel Wood: All I ever found was nuts :p
Ranos Brumer: coolio
leafour20 Klubov: torley is multi-tasking, chatting in IM, chatting here, uploading photos to flickr
leafour20 Klubov: lol
Torley Linden: i love hearing romantic stories of all sorts from SL... when people come together and better each other
Lars Donardson: rofl
Torley Linden: i am pretty crazy haha
Koinup Burt: I read about that on the Guardian
Torley Linden: crazy in a kind way ;)
Koinup Burt: http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/technology/2008/07/14/is_googles_lively_a_knockoff_of_imvu.html
Marty Gausman: eeek, r my nuts showing? lmao
Ewan Mureaux: i think its more likely in a world where you are really you rather than trying to find someone to make babies at while pissed drunk in a noisy crowded club
Imnotgoing Sideways: Lawl ^-^
Brunhilde Burt: ,
Torley Linden: thanks Koinup
Omegadon Aeon: My friend in SL Stylez Gomez also meet his wife in SL, even says so in his profile :)
Torley Linden: PRIM BABIES!!!
leafour20 Klubov: HAHAHAhahah
Torley Linden: oooh Omegadon, that's kewl
Master Nestler: YAY! (yay!)
Imnotgoing Sideways: \(^_^)/
Ewan Mureaux: i wound up my lesbian friend asking her to surrogate porim babies for me
Master Nestler: Babies made out of wood
Squirrel Wood: prim babies? You can buy them if you want. the whole pregnancy cycle included :p
Torley Linden: mah baby... is pure plywood!
Torley Linden: SHE HAS A STUDY HEAD
Torley Linden: *thump thump*
Lars Donardson: oh..someone should consider banning the "pregant women with talking fetus" thinggy
Imnotgoing Sideways: Is them the prim babies announced on the forum? (o.o)
Torley Linden: i like all the SL joke shirts
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Ranos Brumer: lol
Ranos Brumer: omg rat person
Torley Linden: yes we are certainly a diverse bunch
Imnotgoing Sideways giggles.
Lars Donardson: it's annoying to hear "xyz is feeling uncomfy because her baby presses on her bladder"....when dancing in a club
Ranos Brumer: nice name btw
Ranos Brumer: Ranold Burt lol
Torley Linden: Lars, i have seen babies whine and cry in text like that! i never thought words could be so loud!
Squirrel's Fortune Carrot: Here's some wisdom for you:
Squirrel's Fortune Carrot: Psychedelics are probably responsible for every aspect of human evolution apart from the decline in bodyhair. -- Terence McKenna, Food of the Gods
Lars Donardson: holy moly Torley..I hear you
Torley Linden: TERENCE MCKENNA! he is a trip
Imnotgoing Sideways: Heh... Try hanging out around scripted diapers. (=_=)
Al Sonic: It IS kinda funny looking through a lifelike, squishy-looking figure, and then discovering that the individual prims are all given the material property "Wood".
leafour20 Klubov: Friendly Greetings! :)
leafour20 Klubov: wow
leafour20 Klubov: i hear him too
leafour20 Klubov: lol
Lars Donardson: talking diapees...eeeew
Ewan Mureaux: do prim materials work?
Imnotgoing Sideways: No kidding. (=_=)
leafour20 Klubov: !!!!TRILLION YEARS!!!!
Geneko Nemeth: Wood. Nyahaha... Al
Imnotgoing Sideways: x3
Ranos Brumer: good question
Torley Linden: talking diaper: "oh my gosh, baby... don't you dare... ohh... ewwwww.... nooooo i'm going to be thrown away now!"
Imnotgoing Sideways: Lawl ^-^
Torley Linden: Ewan, yes, i have a short video tutorial on them; they affect collision sound and physical friction
Ranos Brumer: what is the material setting anyway?
Imnotgoing Sideways: Some of the funniest ones crunch when they walk. (=_=)
Ranos Brumer: ahh ok
Ewan Mureaux: oh
Torley Linden: Building materials explained - http://youtube.com/watch?v=6OXYO61kQCA
Squirrel Wood: pacifiers with sucking noise... sooo annoying
Torley Linden: i love helping answer questions like that
Torley Linden: they're just so awesome and need to be shown in action
Geneko Nemeth: It's kinda weird when you walk on something that's supposed to be grass but hears a sound that more resembles wood...
Geneko Nemeth: maybe there needs to be a grass material type?
Squirrel's Fortune Carrot: Here's some wisdom for you:
Squirrel's Fortune Carrot: To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance. -- Oscar Wilde
Ranos Brumer: Hey Torely, I like the new opening screen on your tutorials
Torley Linden: a lot of builds could use sound tweakage
Torley Linden: Geneko, or... script prim collision screen
LifeFactory Writer: there are footstepping scripts one can add with the appropriate surface sound effect.
Torley Linden: thanks Ranos! kudos must go to, ah, Pastrami Linden for being my collaborator, and Bub and Cornelius Linden for kick ass ideas
Geneko Nemeth: ... Script prim collision screen? What's that?
Torley Linden: *makes a note to do a collision sound changer video*
Rosemarie Gears braids Immy's hair
Lars Donardson: clack...clack..clack..and what's next
Al Sonic: Ooh good idea.
Lars Donardson: you're blinded by bling
Geneko Nemeth: If it's possibleit's on the SL Wiki.
Torley Linden: so you can override what sound a prim makes when you run into it
Geneko Nemeth: Period!
Torley Linden: or step on it
Torley Linden: so many awesome avatars today
Omegadon Aeon: :)
Geneko Nemeth giggles.
Squirrel's Fortune Cookie: Here's some wisdom for you:
Squirrel's Fortune Cookie: "It is a sobering thought, for example, that when Mozart was my age, he had been dead for two years." -- Tom Lehrer
Imnotgoing Sideways: I replaced a sound on a tossable razor blade to a "ping" but it triggers too often on collision so it sounds like a mess if someone walks throught the pile. (>_<)
leafour20 Klubov: i have a crazy alien from AVP av but itd lagg the whole place out
leafour20 Klubov: lol
AntiMatter Gun: Enter Mouselook to shoot me!
Torley Linden: HAHAHAHA AVP
leafour20 Klubov: hahah
Torley Linden: i was reading the adventures of Dutch the other day
Torley Linden: aka AHNULD
Imnotgoing Sideways: Wah! Lunch break over. (>_<)
Imnotgoing Sideways says Bai Baii!!! (^_^)y
leafour20 Klubov: AHNULD lol
Ewan Mureaux: see ya immy
Torley Linden: Predators, unlike Aliens, have HONOR
Torley Linden: bye Imny!
Emilylo Mayako: bye Immy
Ranos Brumer: cya
Miter Lorefield: bye immy
Squirrel Wood: It's going to rain money prims in a second or two :p
Omegadon Aeon: bye Immy
Lars Donardson: byeee
Mayumi Fride: bye
Master Nestler: YEEEAAAAHH!!!
Ranos Brumer: lol
Torley Linden shouts: holla holla for ya dollah
Master Nestler: YAY! (yay!)
Ranos Brumer: lol
Torley Linden: MONEY MONEY IT'S NOT FUNNY IN A RICH MAN'S WORLD LALALALALA (i like Abba)
Omegadon Aeon: O.o money w00t
Torley Linden: darn money still hasn't rezzed for me
Geneko Nemeth: Gimme gimme gimme a Torley in the midnight!
Torley Linden: looks all gray
Torley Linden: oh for crying and laughing out loud
Emilylo Mayako: 2- much monie
Ranos Brumer: Sorry about that
Ewan Mureaux: hey rav
Torley Linden: ladies and gentleavatars this is my beautiful wife Ravenelle Zugzwang aka DUCKY, who built this island with me :)
Omegadon Aeon: Gotta love the WallE AV :)
leafour20 Klubov: Friendly Greetings! :)
Ranos Brumer: woot
Ravenelle Zugzwang: Hello, quack quack
Ranos Brumer: Greetings
Torley Linden: yeah, Omegadon, i'd like an Eve avatar
Andromega Volare: .-'`'-. APPLAUSE APPLAUSE .-'`'-.
Steel Halasy: Hi Ravenelle!
LifeFactory Writer: hello, hello :)
Koinup Burt: hello Ravenelle, nice to meet you!
CeeJay Tigerpaw: Hi Ravenelle...
Torley Linden: i liked Wall-E... not as much as Incredibles
Omegadon Aeon: An eve one would be really cool
Lars Donardson waves
Torley Linden: i saw an Eve one in a sandbox but it looked like ass
Squirrel Wood: ^^
Omegadon Aeon: Incredibles is a good movie
CeeJay Tigerpaw: That would be an eve-atar.
LifeFactory Writer: Are you newly married? Should we throw confetti?
Torley Linden: maybe it wasn't even Eve
Torley Linden: we've been together for the better part of two years
Torley Linden: :)
LifeFactory Writer: ok...just as well, because I am not sure the confetti would rez here :)
Torley Linden: er, i mean "looked like an ass"... there's a difference
Ewan Mureaux: you do look like some bizarre but lovely scottish swan wedding or something
Torley Linden: :D
Ravenelle Zugzwang: = )
Torley Linden: the fantastic comes true in Second Life
Lars Donardson: huh..bigamy...your wife is partnered with another bloke *snickers*
Torley Linden: it's been awhile since we've had a new release version...
Squirrel Wood: onigokko
Squirrel Wood: Ta!
Torley Linden: oh yeah that dude, Torley Olmstead
Naxos Loon: hahaahah
Ewan Mureaux: scoundrel
Torley Linden: i am gearing up to do videos explaining a number of things, including Mono
Squirrel Wood: stop
Dance-a-holic: Get back to dancing!!!
Dance-a-holic: onigokko
Dance-a-holic: fuego!
Torley Linden: especially for the newcomers who are curious but don't script
Ravenelle Zugzwang: *laughs*
Kee Llewellyn: hi Torley
Torley Linden: friendly greetings Kee :)
Omegadon Aeon: i have logged into Mono for a few
Squirrel Wood: stop
Omegadon Aeon: not mono the beta ggrid
Kee Llewellyn: I have a question about lighting in the new clients
Torley Linden: it's like the old joke, "what's better than beta? a beta beta!" :p
Torley Linden: what is your Q, Kee?
Omegadon Aeon: hehe downloaded artrage cant wait to play with this
Rosemarie Gears: are Infectious mononucleosis jokes abound? ^^;
Lars Donardson: still hesitates to do so as he might find out what all stops working ...scriptwise
Torley Linden: mmm ArtRage is flavorful... nice free version... hur hur
Ravenelle Zugzwang: <3 artrage
Geneko Nemeth: Why not GIMP?
Torley Linden: Lars, i'd recommend finding out EARLY beforehand than waiting... but you can always use the old mode if compilation to Mono isn't desired for whatever reason
Kee Llewellyn: In the old clients we had access to 6 of the 8 lights. i.e. we culd make six different lights to light a photograph
Raynold Burt: gtg again... was nice as ever, Torley.... cya around :o)
Master Nestler: i use Photoshop CS3
Torley Linden: Geneko, i have mentioned GIMP before but it doesn't have the zest or personality of ArtRage, which is specialized for natural media
Kee Llewellyn: in the new client, we seem to have access to only one or two
Ravenelle Zugzwang: because if I don't want to use artrage I use Photoshop..nothing against GIMP I have no need though
Lars Donardson: Torley...I still have recover from the RC13 adventure..my patience is at minimum level atm
Lars Donardson: lol
Geneko Nemeth: It's okay, everyone has their preferences.
Kee Llewellyn: is windlight using the other four now?
Torley Linden: Kee, which "new client"? have you checked all nearly local light sources?
Torley Linden: WindLight isn't
Torley Linden: it's possible some people or objects are using very small but subtle lights
Omegadon Aeon: Torley from your experience which viewer has the best performance i havnet used the Stable one in along timek, i love the RC viewer
Geneko Nemeth needs to shut off.
Kee Llewellyn: yeah, I took off any modeling lights and eveything that created light nearby
Torley Linden: Tools menu > Show Light Radius for Suggestion
Geneko Nemeth *shut up
Torley Linden: er, Show Light Radius for Selection
Lars Donardson coughs and mumbles Nicholaz
Al Sonic: That or somehow unchecked Nearby Local Lights.
CeeJay Tigerpaw: I haven't been able to get GIMP going on my Mac, but I am rather inexperiences at the wiles and woes of open-source distributions ...
Ewan Mureaux: rc 14 is great and they cleaned up the ui so wjhen you drop a decent skin in it looks good
Kee Llewellyn: no i have learby lights checked
Torley Linden: Omegadon, i haven't had enough of a chance to try Resident-created viewers in depth. i am pretty much on the RC most of the time but hear good experiences about Nicholaz and others.
Al Sonic: Er, un-radio-buttoned... whatever.
Omegadon Aeon: i wasnt to crazy about Gimp
Omegadon Aeon: I meant the Releace Candidate viewer torley :)
Omegadon Aeon: Release Candidate
Ranos Brumer: Sadly alot of open source aps don't have decent interfaces
Omegadon Aeon: and the Main Stable Viewer
Lars Donardson coughs again and mumbles none
Kee Llewellyn: I used to do a demo for my students where I'd rez a big white sphere and place six different coloured prims around it each with a different colour light so you could see the six lights on the white sphere
Torley Linden: Kee, so i'd suggest running a controlled test in an empty area and if it's a problem for you and confirmed with friends... then report it as a bug on http://jira.secondlife.com but i haven't had that same experience
Kee Llewellyn: when I do that now I can only see one or two lights at a time
Torley Linden: it does sound odd...
Geneko Nemeth: They are hackers, not Resident Experience Managers...
Torley Linden: now, there *have* been past occurrences where local lights weren't working on some supported hardware and those bugs got fixed
Kee Llewellyn: OK I was wondering if it was a known thing and not just happeneing to me
Torley Linden: aye i haven't heard of it most recently Kee but i'm glad you mentioned it
Kee Llewellyn: I also have a new Mac with a Nvidia card
Kee Llewellyn: maybe that's the probem
Squirrel Wood: local lights for me at the moment cause terrain that is below the water line to be rendered pitch black
Ranos Brumer: Which card
Torley Linden: eventually the *hope* is to have per-pixel lighting so you don't have to worry about 6-lights-nearest or whatever but that is very tenative at this time
Torley Linden: which Nvidia card, Kee?
Roo Myoo: OH HAI ! holey moley Torley haz vast giant watermelonisland play thing
Kee Llewellyn: 8800
Torley Linden: Squirrel, thanks for sharing that yesterday
Torley Linden: yeah 8800 should be *fine*
Lars Donardson: rofl..MACs don't like Nvidia and Xp don't like ATI...how bizarre
Torley Linden: that is more than sufficient
Torley Linden: Roo: OH YES
Kee Llewellyn: OK I'll kep experiementing
Ranos Brumer: ati is just overall better on unix
Kee Llewellyn: I just wanted to make sure I wasn't wasting my time becasue of a change in the client
Miter Lorefield: nvidia is better on linux as well normally
Torley Linden: *nods*
Torley Linden: good to be curious about that
Miter Lorefield: lol ranos
Torley Linden: and for anyone who wants to talk about Release Candidate bugs, there's always Bridie's Office Hours in Levenhall on Wednesdays @ 3 PM Pacific :)
Torley Linden: more Lindens you can meet inworld http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Office_Hours
Kee Llewellyn: I may stop by there too
Lars Donardson: I love the unfounded comments about ATI not implementing openGL properly...amazing that exactly the opposite was found to be true by Stanford with their Folding at home
Ranos Brumer: well everything tends to work better on linux
Kee Llewellyn: thx
Ranos Brumer: lol
CeeJay Tigerpaw: My Mac Pro is running an ATI Radeon HD 2600, and I haven't seen any problems I can trace to it, but I am still running 1.19.1 (4).
Geneko Nemeth: Is that supposed to be "more Lindens than you can meet in-world"?
Miter Lorefield: what distro do you use ranos?
Torley Linden: hahah Geneko that sounds positive
Torley Linden: i prefer that, yus.
Ranos Brumer: I was using ubuntu and kubuntu but haven't messed with it in awhile
Miter Lorefield: ubuntu is nice - ive always had such a problem with ATI card on linux though
Ewan Mureaux: wb rav
Ranos Brumer: Really
Torley Linden: whee Ravi
Kee Llewellyn: OK well nice meeting you and thanks for the help
Ranos Brumer: when I had my ati radeon I ran it on Fedora Core
Torley Linden: you're welcome Kee!
Ranos Brumer: and it was easy to setup
Ravenelle Zugzwang: thanks..darn not so smart..smart heap got me
Ranos Brumer: but when I tried using my nvidia it was an issue
Lars Donardson: hehe
Miter Lorefield: ive never heard anyone recommend anything but nvidia for ubuntu systems... ati drivers arent as up to date last i checked because parts of the ati system were still closed source
Ewan Mureaux has crash envy
Ranos Brumer: ahh good point
Lars Donardson: it's dumb heap Ravenelle
Torley Linden: haha that's our new name for it
Torley Linden: DumbassHeap
Ranos Brumer: I keep forgetting about amd owning them(or other way around I forget)
Ravenelle Zugzwang: fitting
Torley Linden: sounds like something out of Idiocracy
Brunhilde Burt: lol
Torley Linden: it's always intriguing to anthropomorphize code
Ranos Brumer: anyway that was like 8 years ago
Brunhilde Burt: idiocrazy rulez ^^
Torley Linden: Brunhilde: i liked what they called Fuddruckers!
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Steel Halasy: Well dumbheap is better than dungheap!
CeeJay Tigerpaw: Code does a good job of computomorphizing us ...
Torley Linden: hahahah Steel, ew
Torley Linden: i don't wanna GO THERE
Torley Linden: :p
CeeJay Tigerpaw: Oh, that could lend a whole new meaning to the term "heap sort" ...
Steel Halasy: Yes... but it mimics what you say when the viewer crashes
Roo Myoo always wonders why all these coder peeps are so fascinated by stacking heaps of stuff
Torley Linden: hahahaha
Torley Linden: "heaps" is a funny word if you really think about it
Torley Linden: oh, speaking of coders, unlikely, but i'd like to get Donald Knuth in Second Life
CeeJay Tigerpaw: Art follows life: It mimics the way our desks are stacked...
Torley Linden: i wonder what he would say about everything going on in here
CeeJay Tigerpaw: ... all the way to overflow-and-crash ...
Torley Linden: Knuth is the epitomy of computer ambition
Roo Myoo: eitehr that or GLADOS is
Brunhilde Burt: gtg again, mates.... cya around
Torley Linden: his webpage looks like it's still stuck in 1994 tho (nothing wrong with that, but... i digress) http://www-cs-faculty.stanford.edu/~knuth/
Torley Linden: take care Brunhilde!
Brunhilde Burt: I'll try ^^
Torley Linden: oh yeah a Knuth-GLADOS-SHODAN baby would kick ass
Brunhilde Burt: cya
Torley Linden: maybe mix it with DURANDAL from Marathon too
Torley Linden: deadly, deadly
Master Nestler: bye brunhilde
Lecalat Starbrook waves goodbye to Brunhilde.
Torley Linden: and HELIOS from Deus Ex
Torley Linden: i am such a geek that way... so does anyone have any landmarks of kewl places they've visited in Second Life and would like to share!
Torley Linden: i welcome hearing about your discoveries :D
Ranos Brumer: not I
Torley Linden: i usually end up taking pictures too, i'm such a tourist
Ewan Mureaux gave you Suitably Imprest - DJ Heaven, Imprest (203, 22, 48).
Torley Linden: Ravi and i often explore inworld and go places
Torley Linden: oooh landmarks incoming, thanks :)
Steel Halasy: Knuth would want to know how to format the chat logs in TeX. (Said jokingly, but with the utmost respect)
Torley Linden: Steel: :D
Lars Donardson: I think you've been to Kids5B Torley ;)
Miter Lorefield: i think everyone has seen the cool places ive visited
Miter Lorefield: lol
Ewan Mureaux: bit cheeky its for ma village
Squirrel Wood knows of a tron style game which is still in development
Miter Lorefield: im a big fan of the Inspir spacepark
Ewan Mureaux: yes clubbing, inspire space and then guaranteed posebal action ;-)
Torley Linden: Naxos, that's some choice groceries you have there
Squirrel Wood: and it lives and breathes the tron spirit ^^
CeeJay Tigerpaw: ROTFL at developing a "Tron" game in SL ...
Torley Linden: i played Discs of Tron long ago
Torley Linden: it was made by a Resident who is no longer in SL
Miter Lorefield: lol ewan
Naxos Loon: i`ve stolen them at the market
CeeJay Tigerpaw: Torley, do you believe in users?
Al Sonic: What's that mean?
Torley Linden: ???!?
Torley Linden: [DOES NOT COMPUTE... PLEASE RETRY QUERY]
Omegadon Aeon: lol
Ranos Brumer: Umm ok then.
CeeJay Tigerpaw: (Classic line from Tron -- spoken by a depressed accounting program...)
Torley Linden: so, CeeJay, here's where i'm shamefaced, i have not seen the whole movie
Torley Linden: only seen clips
Torley Linden: and... love the Wendy Carlos soundtrack
Torley Linden: i should end up watching that eventually
Miter Lorefield: i tried getting tron and wargames clips - but 80's movies have so much ambiant sound
CeeJay Tigerpaw: The response, from the hero, was "... I'm a user ..."
Torley Linden: *listens*
Damani Roadster 0.50 - watermelon: You are not the owner...
Ewan Mureaux: I'm a loser and a user so I don't need no accuser
own because I know I'm right
Al Sonic: Hm, certainly a good response, by all means.
Ewan Mureaux: green day :D
Ranos Brumer: I think wal-e is just a Johny-5 wananbe
Torley Linden: haha Ranos, mixed with ET
Torley Linden: ;)
Ravenelle Zugzwang: *laughs*
Al Sonic: Line break?
Ranos Brumer: lol
Ranos Brumer: yes
Torley Linden: i do agree the characters are kinda similar
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/23753
Torley Linden: maybe someone in the future of earth ended up building Wall-E
Al Sonic: *tests again* Line

Al Sonic: Hm.
Torley Linden: kinda like how some medical scientists are making tricorder-looking things because they saw a lot of Star Trek growing up
Ranos Brumer: lol ya
icktoofay Kamachi: .

l. :p
Torley Linden: great scifi blog http://io9.com/ :)
Geneko Nemeth: How did you do that?
Torley Linden: HOLY CRAP!
CeeJay Tigerpaw: Most of the Star Trek tricorder and medical analysis stuff were yuppie salt shakers ...
Al Sonic: I had to copy and paste it from text elsewhere to get it right.
Torley Linden: teach me how to do that too so i can provide gaps in text transcripts without any particular reason!
Lars Donardson wonders where or with what Torley grew up while looking at the watermelons
Kee Llewellyn: Wall=e is just Johnny 5 in a Huey, dewey or Loiuie box (ref: SIlent Running)
Torley Linden: lol
Ranos Brumer: lol
Torley Linden: test

Torley Linden: OMG
Torley Linden: it worked
Torley Linden: i used a paragraph symbol from my text editor and pasted it in here
CeeJay Tigerpaw: YAY Silent Running!
Master Nestler: YAY! (yay!)
Squirrel Wood: line

Omegadon Aeon: lol
Torley Linden: Lars, oh, part of it is Chinese myths/world creation stories..
Ranos Brumer: ok
Master Nestler: make a tutorial on that
Torley Linden: Pathfinder had a fun Silent Running-themed av the other day
Al Sonic: Hahaha.
icktoofay Kamachi: .

:D

Lars Donardson: chinese watermelons O_o
Ranos Brumer: omg
Torley Linden: WHAT THE...
Omegadon Aeon: WOW long gap!
Torley Linden: you realize this is gonna look crazy on the chat transcript
icktoofay Kamachi: '
Ranos Brumer: lol
Squirrel Wood: hehe
Torley Linden: hahahahaha
CeeJay Tigerpaw: The coolest SF double-feature I ever saw was "Silent Running" and "Westworld", back to back.
Al Sonic: Just what I was thinking. <_<
Omegadon Aeon: cant wait to see this chat trasnscript l;ol
Torley Linden: oh my gosh CeeJay, Westworld (and Futureworld) bring back memories
Lars Donardson: as I gots no response earlier I'm gonna drop it on you anyhow...lol
Lars Donardson gave you KIDS5B, Tourist Information (169, 197, 25).
Lars Donardson: :D
Lars Donardson: try the transmogrifier
Ravenelle Zugzwang: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ravenelle/2616091740/in/photostream/
Torley Linden: oh thanks Lars, oh yes i have!
Ravenelle Zugzwang: here is a video I did of the transmogrifier
Omegadon Aeon: Torley, do you always have watermellons in for house :)
Omegadon Aeon: in RL
Torley Linden: but that's a wonderful thing of Second Life... you have a childhood dream, you can live it out here
Squirrel Wood: T

Torley Linden: like, in "the real world", zoning codes would really crimp my style :p
Squirrel Wood: ^^
Ewan Mureaux: can i ask a question about SL™ culture and stuff? Is the whole steam punk think based on the film Wild Wild West?
Kee Llewellyn: hahaha
Kee Llewellyn: and there would be more errent seeds everywhere
Lars Donardson: it stopped working at one point..too many adult stress particles in the filters Ravenelle
Lars Donardson: lol
CeeJay Tigerpaw: I believe it is more based on Jules Verne.
Torley Linden: Omegadon, i have eaten a big tasty one this summer but i don't always have them around... sometimes it's harsh, virtual conceptions of melons have made "real" ones seem pale by comparison
icktoofay Kamachi: .

This was not said by you.

Torley Linden: steampunk has a number of influences... Ewan, do you mean the Wild Wild West adaption with Will Smith or the older series? ;) haha
Ewan Mureaux: wicka wicka wild west
Ranos Brumer: lol
Kee Llewellyn: augh I hated the Will Smith WW West
Torley Linden: lol i remember that music video
CeeJay Tigerpaw: Torley, you are fortunate if only the zoning code would get you in RL. I am afraid I would have the CIA and Force Delta after me ...
Torley Linden: H.G. Wells is another big influence
Kee Llewellyn: I loved the old series when I was a kid
Torley Linden: @_@
Torley Linden: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steampunk
icktoofay Kamachi: Oh, not nice! There's only one minute of office hours left! ;(
Squirrel Wood: OhNoe!
Andromega Volare: jodelhiteltiiiiiiiuuuuu!!!
Torley Linden: SL has a lot of steampunk subculture but it didn't originate within here, just strengthened it ;D
Lars Donardson winds the clock back while no1 is looking
Torley Linden: oh i tend to stay for extra time anyway 'cuz i like being here with you
icktoofay Kamachi: :D
Kee Llewellyn: awwww
Ravenelle Zugzwang: today is special too
Torley Linden: similar thing with SL and furries... but Tinies particularly are largely special to Second Life
Kee Llewellyn: ??
CeeJay Tigerpaw: I think some of Steampunk may draw on Miyazaki a bit as well...
Ranos Brumer: Sci-fi has been running alot of X-Files lately
Torley Linden: in part of how they were created, spread, and evolved
Torley Linden: Miyazaki = EPIC WIN
Ranos Brumer: Think that might be related to the movie?
Geneko Nemeth: Sorry everyone. Bad joystick bad bad bad!
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Squirrel Wood: Torley, would you have a couple minutes afterward? I'd like to demonstrate me terraformer :p
Kee Llewellyn: oh yes, it's becasue the movie opens next weekend
Kee Llewellyn: this weekend is all Dark Knight
Torley Linden: Ranos, maybe... i hope the new movie doesn't leave too many unanswered questions :|
Ranos Brumer: I know
Ranos Brumer: No offense
Velouria Infinity: aloha
Ranos Brumer: but I hope they close the story out
Ranos Brumer: lol
Kee Llewellyn: It's X-files.... it's nothing BUT unanswered questions
Ranos Brumer: I've always found the show annoying in a way
Torley Linden: Squirrel, where are you demoing your terraformer nowadays?
Kee Llewellyn: I like the stand alone epis, but the "mythos" stories just got way out of hand
Ranos Brumer: I'd like to come check it out myself.
Torley Linden: part of the X-Files mytharc was compelling, but i was mad about all the loops and whorls and nuttiness
Lars Donardson: okies...regarding my idea from the start..what's the best way of doing it..just drop a notecard on you with the info regarding the OI thing Torley?
Torley Linden: it's like "Ciggy smoking man is dead... OH NO HE'S NOT! oh yes he is. NO MAYBE... NOT!" it got diring.
Ranos Brumer: Oh but he is dead, his cigarrettes aren't
Torley Linden: Lars, email is better, torley at lindenlab.com :)
Kee Llewellyn: yeah and the black oil and nano bots and lall the other things that appeared and then dropped away
Geneko Nemeth: DumbassHeap says MEM_BAD_POINTER>
Lars Donardson: okies..noted
Ranos Brumer: lol
Torley Linden: and super soldiers
Ranos Brumer: I gave up on the show myself
Torley Linden: i liked the Well-Manicured Man
Kee Llewellyn: hehe
Torley Linden: i like that episode where it revealed CSM was trying to be a story writer
Torley Linden: and his take on the Forrest Gump joke
Kee Llewellyn: and Gillian Anderson has long hair in the new movie (bad, bad)
Steel Halasy: One of my fav CSM quotes from X-Files: "Life...is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that no one ever asks for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So, you're stuck with mostly indefinable whipped mint crap, mindlessly wolfed down when there's nothing else to eat while you're watching the game. Sure, once in a while you get a peanut butter cup or an English toffee, but it's gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. In the end, you're left with nothing but broken bits filled with hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts, which if you are desperate enough to eat leaves nothing but an empty box of useless brown paper wrappers. "
Torley Linden: THAT'S THE ONE, STEEL!
Torley Linden: rock on
Torley Linden: boy, he's depressing.
Steel Halasy: lol
Ranos Brumer: lol
Ranos Brumer: I'm a fan of Staragate.
Torley Linden: i used to watch Stargate SG-1 a lot
Ranos Brumer: wow I can't type
Torley Linden: up until Season 7
Torley Linden: i like Teal'c very much
Kee Llewellyn: I like Stargate too, my GF and I just started watching it on DVD from teh beginning
Squirrel Wood: irfanview 4.20 is out
Torley Linden: have you heard the vocal version of the song?
Ranos Brumer: Ya once O'Niel droped off as a consistant character it kinda got annoying
Torley Linden: the theme song to Stargate, that is
Torley Linden: yeah i miss MacGyver too :(
Torley Linden: and the guy who played Hammond died
Torley Linden: he was cool oo
Ranos Brumer: lol
Kee Llewellyn: and General Hammond just died :-(

Torley Linden: past Season 7 it was a wash for me, i moved onto other things
Ranos Brumer: I kinda like Atlantis
Ewan Mureaux: heroes its where its at tv wise these days
Torley Linden: oh Squirrel -- cool yeah i'd like to see it :) tp me after

Ranos Brumer: ya but season 2 got the shaft due to the writers strike
Kee Llewellyn: Burn Notice is very cool too
Torley Linden: i <3 Hiro Nakamura
Steel Halasy just wishes time moves quickly towards the next season of "Heroes"
Torley Linden: not familiar with Burn Notice yet
Torley Linden: *looks it up*
Kee Llewellyn: ohh watch it. Start at the first season on DVD
Ranos Brumer: Well its going to be an all out war now
Ranos Brumer: They shot nathan
Velouria Infinity: is this island yours Torley?
Torley Linden: Velouria, it is.
Velouria Infinity: good
Ranos Brumer: The others wont let that go lol
Torley Linden: i wonder what kinds of new powers they can conjure that aren't derivative or, at least, there's a new twist on them
Master Nestler: make some rents on this island
Master Nestler: kik
Master Nestler: lol
Torley Linden: hahahahaa
Ewan Mureaux: hahahaha
Ranos Brumer: hard to do Torley
Ranos Brumer: lol

Torley Linden: so true Steel, THANKS for the reminder
Torley Linden: i'll do that
CeeJay Tigerpaw: I have to be going, now -- CUL everyone.
Al Sonic: Ah, so many places to update.
Torley Linden: yeah, there's a lot of places
Torley Linden: oh my gosh
Master Nestler: 50kL$ a week for a 512m
Torley Linden: bye CeeJay!
Torley Linden: hahha Master, that sounds like some of the Bay City pricing ;)
Kee Llewellyn: yikes!
Ranos Brumer: lol
Ravenelle Zugzwang: *laughs*
Steel Halasy: Oddly enough I had trouble finding the large NEON sign... lol -- it just took a bet to rez, and I wasn't expecting it to be transparent! :) :)
Velouria Infinity: lol Torley by the bAy :))
Master Nestler: Bay City prices are insane
Torley Linden: oh Steel yeah was that hard to click on? i know there's a plus/minus to not being able to click on those transparent areas
Ranos Brumer: I bought some land from govenor linden
Ranos Brumer: for 2500 per 512m
Squirrel Wood: bay city is virtually ad free
Velouria Infinity: but it should not be
Kee Llewellyn: I have a void sim, it's a nice compromise between renting a partial estate and the cost of a real sim
Ranos Brumer: now its like almost 5k for 512
Squirrel Wood: doe to the no terraform/no subparcelling / stay on theme restrictions
Torley Linden: ohh OpenSpace
Master Nestler: i have a house on mainland that i rent thats on the ocean side next to protected ocean
Kee Llewellyn: It only ;ets me use 3750 prims, like a 1/4 sim, but it's all mine to play with
Torley Linden: :)
Torley Linden: one of my fave things about having a whole island is custom terraforming AND changing textures
Steel Halasy: I just didn't see it. I was trying to get here, and ended up looking for the big sign but crashing into Jesse's office... lol. After waiting a bit, I saw a tinge of neon lettering and thought "aha -- must be Torley's sign" I was so close I didn't actually read it..." lol
Kee Llewellyn: yeah :-)
Ewan Mureaux: i moved back to mainland last week then i sold my shop and moved it next to my house so i dont need to commute (teleport) to work
Torley Linden: ahhhhhh okay good to know Steel
Torley Linden: hehehe
Amon26 Yellowjacket: mow?
Kee Llewellyn: I do wish I could so diferent textures in different places horizontally, not just vertically
Geneko Nemeth: I was standing on the old office when Torley deleted it. XD
Steel Halasy: floating neon text out of the ether. What will they think of next... ?
Al Sonic: Eventually, custom Windlight settings too, when we get to that...
Master Nestler: i like mainland for boating and airplane used
Amon26 Yellowjacket: !!! torley! ^-^
Torley Linden: lol Geneko, that means you made history!
