[2008/11/06 12:02] Torley Linden: they're still too hard to use, and i understand when people are too lazy
[2008/11/06 12:02] Torley Linden: everyone know what a SLURL is? :)
[2008/11/06 12:02] XPhile Boucher: sure :D

[2008/11/06 12:03] Faythe Fouroux: =)
[2008/11/06 12:03] Torley Linden: so i'm working on ways to make SLURLs more attractive and easier... less complicated! simple! including sending postcards with SLURLs...
[2008/11/06 12:03] Leaf Michalski: Friendly Greetings :)
[2008/11/06 12:04] Tyler Messenger: Friendly Greeting :)
[2008/11/06 12:04] Torley Linden: since currently you need a workaround to process them elegantly, or else they end up looking all awkward on Flickr and other sites
[2008/11/06 12:04] Torley Linden: friendly greetings Leaf! :D
[2008/11/06 12:04] Juko Tempel: always like the hat.. lol

[2008/11/06 12:06] Torley Linden: yes Faythe!
[2008/11/06 12:06] Torley Linden: glad you could join us, welcome!
[2008/11/06 12:06] Torley Linden: hahahaha Tyler
[2008/11/06 12:06] Torley Linden: EpicGordon, wow, that's a great celshaded avatar
[2008/11/06 12:07] Torley Linden: ohhh this texture is even nicer, camouflage here
[2008/11/06 12:07] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Haha Epic, always with those colours XD
[2008/11/06 12:07] Torley Linden: feel free to ask QUESTIONS if you have any spontaneous wonderments i can help with
[2008/11/06 12:07] Torley Linden: hey Sahkolihaa, what does your name mean? very unique :)
[2008/11/06 12:07] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Epic, turn off the text to speech :P
[2008/11/06 12:07] Alex Kawanishi: hello everybody ; )
[2008/11/06 12:07] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: My name means 'electric meat' in Finnish - it's goes with the background of my fursona (the avatar you see now) :x
[2008/11/06 12:08] Torley Linden: ohhh
[2008/11/06 12:08] Crap Mariner salutes
[2008/11/06 12:08] Torley Linden: electric meat, that's fancy :)
[2008/11/06 12:08] Torley Linden: *salutes back*
[2008/11/06 12:08] Torley Linden: hiya Alex!
[2008/11/06 12:08] EpicGordon Broome: And most likely crispy.
[2008/11/06 12:08] Sahkolihaa Contepomi eeps.
[2008/11/06 12:08] Torley Linden: i love unique names...
[2008/11/06 12:08] Tyler Messenger: hey torley i saw someone the other day with no last name lol
[2008/11/06 12:08] Torley Linden: i'm totally biased
[2008/11/06 12:08] Tibbi Intikhab: hello all.
[2008/11/06 12:08] Alex Kawanishi: hows it going?
[2008/11/06 12:08] Torley Linden: Tyler, i've heard that few times, but every time i've actually checked that out, it was false/faked... :)
[2008/11/06 12:08] Torley Linden: some people use fake decoy name tags
[2008/11/06 12:08] Leaf Michalski: yes it is
[2008/11/06 12:08] Faythe Fouroux: Hey Bre
[2008/11/06 12:08] Breshae Benoir: hellop
[2008/11/06 12:08] Torley Linden: heyhey Breshae :)
[2008/11/06 12:08] Breshae Benoir: hello
[2008/11/06 12:09] Leaf Michalski: dirty did some weird code in his tag and it made it appear as 1 name
[2008/11/06 12:09] Leaf Michalski: like
[2008/11/06 12:09] Torley Linden: oh my gosh, that n00b with a cement block!
[2008/11/06 12:09] Leaf Michalski: /n STRING SV something
[2008/11/06 12:09] Torley Linden: Leaf, ohhh Dirty McLean?
[2008/11/06 12:09] Leaf Michalski: yes
[2008/11/06 12:09] Crap Mariner: yes
[2008/11/06 12:09] Torley Linden: i don't rule out that possibility then... but, appearing as 1 name is different from actually only having 1 name...
[2008/11/06 12:09] Crap Mariner: He squealed on the Mob
[2008/11/06 12:09] Torley Linden: like YODA
[2008/11/06 12:09] Breshae Benoir: sorry alex
[2008/11/06 12:09] Torley Linden: noob mob?
[2008/11/06 12:09] Alex Kawanishi gave you :: Watermelon Ice Cream For Torley ::.
[2008/11/06 12:09] Breshae Benoir: didnt mean to bump you
[2008/11/06 12:09] Faythe Fouroux: no pushing bre ;)
[2008/11/06 12:09] Leaf Michalski: yea it only appeared as 1 name..lol
[2008/11/06 12:09] Crap Mariner: Custom fish I made for 7Seas Fishing
[2008/11/06 12:09] Tyler Messenger: sit
[2008/11/06 12:10] Tyler Messenger: heres my cat lol
[2008/11/06 12:10] Faythe Fouroux: no more chairs Torley?
[2008/11/06 12:10] Torley Linden: hahaha *looks closely*
[2008/11/06 12:10] Torley Linden: sorry, there's only like 10 multiplying seats...
[2008/11/06 12:10] Faythe Fouroux: but ur a linden
[2008/11/06 12:10] Torley Linden: i should expand that to more...
[2008/11/06 12:10] Faythe Fouroux: surely that cant apply to you ;)
[2008/11/06 12:10] Torley Linden: oh i can make magic wonders happen oh yes!
[2008/11/06 12:10] Torley Linden: haha
[2008/11/06 12:10] Torley Linden: hey Arawn
[2008/11/06 12:10] Tibbi Intikhab: I think I got the last one
[2008/11/06 12:10] Torley Linden: yeah more generous seating would be a good idea...
[2008/11/06 12:10] Torley Linden: since this has been a recurring problem...
[2008/11/06 12:11] Torley Linden: or i've thought of more random ideas... it'd be fun to have a mobile hang out...
[2008/11/06 12:11] XPhile Boucher: hi arawn. nice to meet you :)
[2008/11/06 12:11] Torley Linden: like a sandworm from Dune
[2008/11/06 12:11] Crap Mariner: nah. just think vertically
[2008/11/06 12:11] Torley Linden: provided no one actually gets lost
[2008/11/06 12:11] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Torley, if you wish to know why I gave my self such a ... weird name, my 'Web' tab goes to a profile I have on a website that explains a lot behind my character.
[2008/11/06 12:11] Tibbi Intikhab: not appearing on top of seating would be good too. that was odd.
[2008/11/06 12:11] Torley Linden: haha Crap, yeah, everyone sit on the edge of a totem and have your camera rotate
[2008/11/06 12:11] Torley Linden: *sees Sahkolihaa's profile*
[2008/11/06 12:11] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Hehe
[2008/11/06 12:11] Arawn Spitteler: I've apocket party, which is just a ring that follows. It's got lots of seating
[2008/11/06 12:11] Tyler Messenger: my profile awesome lol
[2008/11/06 12:12] Torley Linden: okay, great use of Web profile... ohh furry4life on Ning! build your own social network!
[2008/11/06 12:12] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Yup :p
[2008/11/06 12:12] Torley Linden: that's a great backstory for your fursona...
[2008/11/06 12:12] Aimee Trescothick: hi :)
[2008/11/06 12:12] Crap Mariner: hi aimee
[2008/11/06 12:12] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Hehe, thanks :3
[2008/11/06 12:12] Torley Linden: hiya Aimee, Morgaine!
[2008/11/06 12:12] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Epic, do you have 'automated texture switching' enabled or something?
[2008/11/06 12:12] Morgaine Dinova: Hiya Torley :-)
[2008/11/06 12:12] Torley Linden: yeah Crap, defying gravity like that... i love it
[2008/11/06 12:12] EpicGordon Broome: :x
[2008/11/06 12:13] Torley Linden: it's like "SCREW YOU GRAVITY"
[2008/11/06 12:13] XPhile Boucher: do you think you have to make your profile international in english? mine is in german .. so not everyone understand it..
[2008/11/06 12:13] Arawn Spitteler: Does Disabling Camera Contraints have issues?
[2008/11/06 12:13] Crap Mariner: Know those "Do not remove under penalty of law" tags? I removed it and discovered... it's the law of gravity.
[2008/11/06 12:13] Torley Linden: what sort of issues did you have in mind, Arawn?
[2008/11/06 12:13] Aimee Trescothick: LOL
[2008/11/06 12:13] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Haha
[2008/11/06 12:13] Torley Linden: Crap: or the NEW MATERIALS ONLY ones...
[2008/11/06 12:13] Jaymes Kjeller: I've often found that PhraseExpress can miss out a few letters. It often happens when I'm pasting in my e-mail list to send postcards to Flickr and what-have you.
[2008/11/06 12:13] Crap Mariner: hah
[2008/11/06 12:13] Torley Linden: XPhile: nah, you don't have to... profiles can be in whatever language you want
[2008/11/06 12:13] Torley Linden: oh Jaymes, glad you pointed that out. do you know how to change paste mode?
[2008/11/06 12:13] Arawn Spitteler: I've often been unable to pan out.
[2008/11/06 12:14] Aimee Trescothick: that reminds me of a headline in the paper the other day "Physics threatened by government cut backs"
[2008/11/06 12:14] Morgaine Dinova: Would be nice if we could control gravity here. "Always down" is a terrible constraint for a virtual world.
[2008/11/06 12:14] Torley Linden: PhraseExpress: Tools menu > Settings > Expert Options (need to enable those via checkbox in Options > Features) and change Paste method to "Paste text using the Windows Clipboard" AND... i prefer "Restore original clipboard contents after phrase insertion"
[2008/11/06 12:14] Arawn Spitteler imagines when Profiles and Floating Text will be translated for international viewing.
[2008/11/06 12:14] Torley Linden: i like grav boots in some games i've played, like Strider ;)
[2008/11/06 12:15] Crap Mariner: Torley: Okay, so we all know you love the SpaceNavigator as a camera tool. What do you think will be the next must-have appliance or tool to enhance your Second Life experience?
[2008/11/06 12:15] Imnotgoing Sideways: Konnichiwa <Hi> (^_^)
[2008/11/06 12:15] Torley Linden: Arawn, i haven't had that problem specifically with Disable Camera Constraints.
[2008/11/06 12:15] Imnotgoing Sideways: I know someone that swears by the Space Nav.. He totally loves it. (^_^)
[2008/11/06 12:15] Tyler Messenger: i had some people in SL thinking i was a Linden Lab employee because of my last name lol
[2008/11/06 12:15] Torley Linden: Crap: uncertain right now, i'd love brainwave stuff but that seems a ways off from being widespread :)
[2008/11/06 12:15] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Serious Sam's engine can change gravity on different surfaces - fun to see your self suddenly walking around a ball room or up a hill :P
[2008/11/06 12:15] Torley Linden: Hey Immy! (got your nickname right this time)
[2008/11/06 12:15] Torley Linden: haha Tyler, at least you're not Instant Messenger :)
[2008/11/06 12:15] Imnotgoing Sideways: \(^_^)/
[2008/11/06 12:15] Imnotgoing Sideways: Good job!!! XD
[2008/11/06 12:15] Crap Mariner places SpaceNav on forehead... hrm... I'm sensing... apple pie.
[2008/11/06 12:16] Juko Tempel: lol
[2008/11/06 12:16] Torley Linden: any ways of getting input in more effectively i favor...
[2008/11/06 12:16] Imnotgoing Sideways: Okay that's the 20th mention of pie for me today! (>_<)
[2008/11/06 12:16] Arawn Spitteler: It might be limiting based on Draw Distance.
[2008/11/06 12:16] Torley Linden: i do like the SpaceNavigator so much because of how relatively cheap it is...
[2008/11/06 12:16] Imnotgoing Sideways: Is it international pie day or something? (O.o)
[2008/11/06 12:16] Jaymes Kjeller: I've tried SLim, but unfortunatly, I've found no-one else using it, so at the moment, it's useless to me.
[2008/11/06 12:16] Torley Linden: Arawn, yeah, by default it does (even with contraints off)
[2008/11/06 12:16] Torley Linden: Jaymes, similar experience here... i've run it in test capacity but "in the wild" will still take some time...
[2008/11/06 12:17] Arawn Spitteler: That's probabbly what it is, since I'm a 64 guy
[2008/11/06 12:17] Morgaine Dinova: Torley: aye, but gravity has to be a property of the environment, else it can't affect everything physical. Putting grav attachments onto things is an appalling hack :-)
[2008/11/06 12:17] Jaymes Kjeller: I suppose you could make space reigons by changing gravity.
[2008/11/06 12:18] Simon Kline: that's a cool idea, make it a sim property?
[2008/11/06 12:18] Torley Linden: Morgaine: yes, i totally agree. i've seen some fun hack attachments but it's disconcerting realizing when stuff is falling down orthogonal to you <.<
[2008/11/06 12:18] Morgaine Dinova: Parcel property
[2008/11/06 12:18] Imnotgoing Sideways: My monitor just turned upside down? (O.o)
[2008/11/06 12:18] Crap Mariner: Magnetism would be a neat property. Or object gravity.
[2008/11/06 12:18] Imnotgoing Sideways: WOW.. Gotta disable that hotkey. (O.o)
[2008/11/06 12:18] Arawn Spitteler: It seems limited to half the draw distance.
[2008/11/06 12:19] Morgaine Dinova: We could make some way out environments given parcel gravity controls ... properly "virtual", not just Earth-like
[2008/11/06 12:19] Jaymes Kjeller: The trouble with all that would be extra graphical load. So it might be worth researching different ways to implmement it.
[2008/11/06 12:19] Torley Linden: i've seen various crafty simulated hacks — including floating crates (buoyancy)... having natural systems built in that interact, that beginners can enjoy, would be wonderful
[2008/11/06 12:20] Torley Linden: heya Lephty, you voted for Obama i take it?
[2008/11/06 12:20] Arawn Spitteler: Oh, on SLim, is there any date, when we're likely to see our friends list?
[2008/11/06 12:20] Leaf Michalski: i would if i still lived in the US
[2008/11/06 12:20] Torley Linden: Arawn, yours ended up blank? there have been some presence bugs... what did you see/not see?
[2008/11/06 12:21] Arawn Spitteler: Big blank list of friends.
[2008/11/06 12:21] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: That's got to be no fun :(
[2008/11/06 12:21] Arawn Spitteler: I haven't tried it much, since friday since I'm mostly in world.
[2008/11/06 12:21] Morgaine Dinova: After we've controlled gravity, we can move to controlling the sun and lighting .... of course giving preference to bright green and shocking pink ;-)))))))
[2008/11/06 12:22] Jaymes Kjeller: I've had to run the viewer first, then run SLim, it picked up my friends list no problem.
[2008/11/06 12:22] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Heh, yay pink \o/
[2008/11/06 12:22] Crap Mariner: i'd kinda like to see the sun smiling.
[2008/11/06 12:22] Torley Linden: oh yes, server-side WindLight... still hoped for *crosses finger*
[2008/11/06 12:22] Torley Linden: Arawn, yeah, that seems anomalous. :\ not right at all.
[2008/11/06 12:22] Jaymes Kjeller: By that, I mean the SLim-enabled viewer.
[2008/11/06 12:22] Torley Linden: but like Jaymes, i had to do the same thing -- it does mention something similar on the official instructions
[2008/11/06 12:23] Arawn Spitteler: The SLim enabled viewer crashes, it's an old RC
[2008/11/06 12:23] Arawn Spitteler: Yopu have to activate 1.21.3 at the start of session?
[2008/11/06 12:23] Morgaine Dinova: Crap: Hehe, that reminded me of what they did to the moon in Guild Wars over Halloween --- it gained an evil pumpkin grimmace ;-)
[2008/11/06 12:23] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Argh, I missed that! :(
[2008/11/06 12:23] Crap Mariner: heh
[2008/11/06 12:23] Arawn Spitteler: I thought we were only to use that to annoint the Module, not every session. I hate Voice.
[2008/11/06 12:24] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: I see a Squirrel.
[2008/11/06 12:24] Tibbi Intikhab: silly question maybe. how do you get the camera view to move while sitting?
[2008/11/06 12:24] Squirrel Wood: OhNoe!
[2008/11/06 12:24] Morgaine Dinova: Hold onto your nuts
[2008/11/06 12:24] Jaymes Kjeller: I'd imagine you have to. Then run SLim. When you close the viewer, and leave SLim running, it should work. Still, it's a work-in-progress...
[2008/11/06 12:24] Torley Linden: Arawn, i ran the First Look viewer, quit it, and then used SLim...
[2008/11/06 12:24] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Haha
[2008/11/06 12:24] Torley Linden: it's confusing to have FL viewer and SLim both open
[2008/11/06 12:24] Leaf Michalski: tibbi hold crtl alt and move with your mouse
[2008/11/06 12:24] Arawn Spitteler: Hold the Alt Key. It's a problem with these seats.
[2008/11/06 12:24] Imnotgoing Sideways: I like the TRim client that Day Oh put together... It's seriously limited physics and location wise.. But.. If all you're after is IMs.. It RAWKS! Xd
[2008/11/06 12:25] Torley Linden: Tibbi, arrow keys should work :) or usual keyboard shortcuts, like...

[2008/11/06 12:25] Juko Tempel: just text chat to your Friends list..
[2008/11/06 12:25] Imnotgoing Sideways: Ah.. It's in one of my forum threads... Lemme hunt. (^_^)
[2008/11/06 12:25] EpicGordon Broome: ...
[2008/11/06 12:25] EpicGordon Broome: Squrly squrl?
[2008/11/06 12:26] Tibbi Intikhab: I see what why people were talking about gravity. Fun
[2008/11/06 12:26] Arawn Spitteler: I play Go, and our boards didn't really work without. I think there's a sign for it on OI
[2008/11/06 12:26] Juko Tempel: i thought i got it from your viewer resource page Torley lol
[2008/11/06 12:26] Torley Linden: Juko, which one? :o
[2008/11/06 12:26] Torley Linden: if i forgot something i did, shame on me!
[2008/11/06 12:26] Juko Tempel: on the wiki?
[2008/11/06 12:26] Juko Tempel: *checking
[2008/11/06 12:27] Jaymes Kjeller: This might sound very tangendal, but I decided to do two pictures of avatars that I've haven't shown. I then put the results on Flickr, among other places.
[2008/11/06 12:27] Imnotgoing Sideways: TRim >> http://code.google.com/p/trim/downloads/list? << (^_^)y
[2008/11/06 12:27] Torley Linden: that's fine, Jaymes, i'm all for the pretty pictures
[2008/11/06 12:27] Crap Mariner: Any thoughts/hopes on Big Spaceship? Integration of the video tutorials into the newbie experience?
[2008/11/06 12:27] Squirrel Wood: Now we need a client named Prim :p
[2008/11/06 12:28] Imnotgoing Sideways giggles.
[2008/11/06 12:28] Torley Linden: if i had a custom client it'd be called Dim... DimSLum... and i'd eat it all up with soy sauce
[2008/11/06 12:28] Arawn Spitteler: Public Relations Internet OModule?
[2008/11/06 12:28] Torley Linden: heya Austen
[2008/11/06 12:28] Aimee Trescothick: "Public Relations Instant Messenger?"
[2008/11/06 12:28] Lephty Lewsey: yum
[2008/11/06 12:28] Squirrel Wood: perfectly rubbish instant messenger? :p
[2008/11/06 12:28] Arawn Spitteler: Instant Messenger was trademarked by AOhelL
[2008/11/06 12:28] Imnotgoing Sideways: オ~マオ~ガ~(O,O)
[2008/11/06 12:28] Torley Linden: "Public Relations" and "Marketing" are two phrases that often get a very dirty, bad rap because of the inordinate amount of people who do it poorly
[2008/11/06 12:28] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Speaking of soy sauce - I'm drinking soy milk right now :o
[2008/11/06 12:29] Simon Kline: Big Spaceship look look awesome... this is one of their more recent websites -> http://www.witsecconfidential.com/
[2008/11/06 12:29] Aimee Trescothick: SLum could be the grungy version
[2008/11/06 12:29] Torley Linden: we have some ex-AOL talent working at LL :)
[2008/11/06 12:29] Torley Linden: hahah Aimee
[2008/11/06 12:29] Torley Linden: better to be SLum than Dum
[2008/11/06 12:29] Aimee Trescothick: :D
[2008/11/06 12:29] Squirrel Wood: Epic, you need to improve your camouflaging skills ^^
[2008/11/06 12:29] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: XD
[2008/11/06 12:30] Imnotgoing Sideways eeps. (o.o)
[2008/11/06 12:30] Torley Linden: anyone remember that Simpsons episode where it goes... Scoooooorpions, and the Simpsons are playing a Japanese game show?
[2008/11/06 12:30] EpicGordon Broome: Boah
[2008/11/06 12:30] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: I haven't seen that one.
[2008/11/06 12:30] Imnotgoing Sideways: Eh? I remember the one where Homer was mistaken for a dish soap mascot. (^_^)
[2008/11/06 12:31] Morgaine Dinova: Torley: some would say that Marketting can only be done badly, because at heart it's deceit, ie. raising the profile of something by other measures rather than on merit.
[2008/11/06 12:31] Torley Linden: MR. SPAKORO!!!!!!!
[2008/11/06 12:31] Imnotgoing Sideways: Lawl ^-^
[2008/11/06 12:31] Crap Mariner: dental plan... lisa needs braces... dental plan... lisa needs braces...
[2008/11/06 12:31] Leaf Michalski: lmao
[2008/11/06 12:31] Torley Linden: Morgaine: that is definitely not the kind of marketing i had in mind or believe in! i think quality marketing (like Seth Godin would say) tells honest human stories. word-of-mouth, for example, from a trusted friend who isn't out to scam you....
[2008/11/06 12:32] Imnotgoing Sideways eeps. (o.o)
[2008/11/06 12:32] Imnotgoing Sideways: Lunch over. (>_<)
[2008/11/06 12:32] Faythe Fouroux: Bre and I are heading out....
[2008/11/06 12:32] Torley Linden: i'm down with that deceit! scroo deceit!
[2008/11/06 12:32] Imnotgoing Sideways says Bai Baii!!! (^_^)y
[2008/11/06 12:32] Torley Linden: take care Faythe and Bre!
[2008/11/06 12:32] Faythe Fouroux: Have a nice day everyone!
[2008/11/06 12:32] Faythe Fouroux: Nice to finally meet u inperson Torley!
[2008/11/06 12:32] Breshae Benoir: nice to meet you torley....and all
[2008/11/06 12:32] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: See you :o
[2008/11/06 12:33] Morgaine Dinova: Torley: I think you mean "spreading the word about good things" ... but that's not Marketting as we know it in the free market ;-)
[2008/11/06 12:33] Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
[2008/11/06 12:33] Arawn Spitteler: Torley actually has a Chinese Kid, sitting at a computer, but that's just a representation; he's really digital
[2008/11/06 12:33] Torley Linden: Morgaine, well, not conventionally — are you familiar with Seth Godin tho?
[2008/11/06 12:34] Torley Linden: he's helping to redefine and highlight honest marketing.
[2008/11/06 12:34] Morgaine Dinova: Nope, looking it up
[2008/11/06 12:34] Torley Linden: including selling stuff to LOTS of people, but without the lies and crap.
[2008/11/06 12:34] Torley Linden: hahahah Arawn
[2008/11/06 12:34] Crap Mariner coughs
[2008/11/06 12:34] Crap Mariner: oh. wait. small c
[2008/11/06 12:34] Crap Mariner: ok
[2008/11/06 12:34] Arawn Spitteler: Romans defined Public Relations as "Good Works Made Known," but it's since been redefined as "Effective Cause Well Demonstrated."
[2008/11/06 12:34] Juko Tempel: godel escher bach
[2008/11/06 12:34] Squirrel Wood: http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1888086 - watch after this hour and be edumacated ^^
[2008/11/06 12:34] Morgaine Dinova: But that's the problem, *honest* marketting will get a Marketting staffer fired in 99.999999999999% of companies.
[2008/11/06 12:35] Torley Linden: Morgaine: not if there are more good companies, and there are!
[2008/11/06 12:35] Torley Linden: Rohit Bhargava is another, he's a SVP at Ogilvy, which is a BIG ad agency...
[2008/11/06 12:35] Juko Tempel: oops sorry
[2008/11/06 12:35] Torley Linden: http://rohitbhargava.typepad.com/
[2008/11/06 12:35] Juko Tempel: cant find Trim either lol
[2008/11/06 12:35] Torley Linden: very very nice guy, he's a proponent of personality marketing, something i really believe in
[2008/11/06 12:36] Torley Linden: personality marketing is the opposite of "corporate drone b.s."
[2008/11/06 12:36] Juko Tempel: lol
[2008/11/06 12:36] gate Smalls: i gtg nice to meet you Mr. Torley
[2008/11/06 12:36] Torley Linden: nice to meet you too, gate!
[2008/11/06 12:36] Arawn Spitteler: Well, a cheerful presentation isn't always done, by the guy who thinks the product is more important than the customer.
[2008/11/06 12:37] Torley Linden: so even if you're in the minority... if you really believe in something... you gotta nudge... or fight for it :)
[2008/11/06 12:37] Torley Linden: and i don't trust someone who's selling a product but hasn't used it
[2008/11/06 12:37] Torley Linden: that's deceit in my book
[2008/11/06 12:37] Torley Linden: someone can't tout the benefits of something unless they have firsthand experience :)
[2008/11/06 12:38] Torley Linden: (i know, i know, sounds like hair club for men...)
[2008/11/06 12:38] Torley Linden: ("i'm not just the founder... i'm a member!" lol)
[2008/11/06 12:38] Arawn Spitteler would like to recommend a weekly serving oof steak, on that basis.
[2008/11/06 12:38] Torley Linden: what about steak? :D
[2008/11/06 12:39] Sally Hedges: OH JESUS
[2008/11/06 12:39] Jaymes Kjeller: Which is one reason why I post inworld pictures on Flickr, in the hope that people can see the good side of the grid and check it out for themselves. But doing so to share moments with other Residents is another reason. :)
[2008/11/06 12:39] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: lol, hello sally :p
[2008/11/06 12:39] Torley Linden: Jaymes, i'm glad you expressed it this way
[2008/11/06 12:39] Morgaine Dinova: Torley: I've just read Seth Godin's entry in Wikipedia. That sounds good, but it's so divorced from reality at the moment. I mean look at the election that's just finished --- zero Seth Godin-compliant content, 100% Marketting that's knowingly based on deceit. We don't live in Godin's world.
[2008/11/06 12:39] Torley Linden: I AM NOT HE, SALLY. BUT YOU ARE WELCOME.
[2008/11/06 12:40] Juko Tempel: lol
[2008/11/06 12:40] Torley Linden: Morgaine: well, most of us may not -- but we can choose to make the crossover. or to make change. what are you referring to with the election, specifically?
[2008/11/06 12:40] Torley Linden: i personally got very tired of all the attack ads
[2008/11/06 12:40] Morgaine Dinova: All politics, generally. I'm not taking sides.
[2008/11/06 12:40] Torley Linden: ahhh.
[2008/11/06 12:40] Arawn Spitteler: We can't color our words in Chat, can we. I wonder if that should be Jiraed, so our words can be printed in Red.
[2008/11/06 12:41] Torley Linden: Rush, that is crazy glow!!!
[2008/11/06 12:41] Crap Mariner is glad not to live in a battleground state. Bad enough dealing with local and state ads.
[2008/11/06 12:41] Tree Kyomoon wants an attack adz.
[2008/11/06 12:41] Arawn Spitteler: Did Television have political advertising? I was playig Second Life.
[2008/11/06 12:41] Sally Hedges: I APOLOGIZE I WAS NOT INFORMED THIS WAS A LINDEN MELON MEETING
[2008/11/06 12:41] Torley Linden: HUR HUR HURRR
[2008/11/06 12:41] Rush Gastel: i here to brighten a very dark world at the moment
[2008/11/06 12:41] EpicGordon Broome: Mwahaha
[2008/11/06 12:41] Crap Mariner: I was actually quite happy with my island cluster with the election. Some hard righties and hard lefties, and yet not a single ugly ad banner for either.
[2008/11/06 12:41] Sally Hedges: what is this topic of discussion?
[2008/11/06 12:41] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Sally, just blame Epic :P
[2008/11/06 12:41] Torley Linden: oh Rush you look great as a 16-bit kinda sprite (Avatar Impostering)
[2008/11/06 12:41] Morgaine Dinova: Sally: melon is default ;P
[2008/11/06 12:42] Torley Linden: oh that's cool to hear, Crap... actually now that you bring it up, i was wondering about that... like how neighbors have different banners on their lawns -- i was curious how that might go in SL
[2008/11/06 12:42] Arawn Spitteler thinks they'd cost a prim each
[2008/11/06 12:42] Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
[2008/11/06 12:42] Crap Mariner: okay, there was ONE campaign button. but it said "I LIKE IKE" because people were playing a joke on me during hurricane ike.
[2008/11/06 12:43] Tree Kyomoon: psychic sauce!
[2008/11/06 12:43] Juko Tempel: aah found Trim.. it's Google Code
[2008/11/06 12:43] Juko Tempel: http://code.google.com/p/trim/
[2008/11/06 12:43] Torley Linden: it was intriguing -- not that i can relate to all aspects of it -- but i liked watching http://popurls.com during election night, refreshing every few min., seeing how results change
[2008/11/06 12:44] Torley Linden: popurls is SUCH a great view of "what's hot on the internet". not all of it, obviously, but many popular (hence the name) places
[2008/11/06 12:44] Crap Mariner: i avoided the results like the plague. crazy, insane network toys and anchors and reporters acting like silly people.
[2008/11/06 12:44] Leaf Michalski: Obamas the man
[2008/11/06 12:44] Crap Mariner: i dealt with that in 2000. had enough of it that year. voter news service was a laugh riot.
[2008/11/06 12:44] Tree Kyomoon: even holograms get in on the act!
[2008/11/06 12:44] Arawn Spitteler: But some people were happy in Kosego, Kenya
[2008/11/06 12:44] Torley Linden: Crap, i watched part of the Indecision thing with Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart. while i'm not as much a fan as my wife is, i like how they often make more sense than the silly people who pretend to be serious
[2008/11/06 12:45] Torley Linden: oh yeah, that holiday in Kenya!
[2008/11/06 12:45] Morgaine Dinova: Leaf: they're all The Man
[2008/11/06 12:45] Leaf Michalski: stephen colbert is halarious
[2008/11/06 12:45] Crap Mariner: indecision 2000 was a hoot... but after a while, same jokes.
[2008/11/06 12:45] Leaf Michalski: no
[2008/11/06 12:45] Leaf Michalski: john mccain isnt the man
[2008/11/06 12:45] Torley Linden: >,>
[2008/11/06 12:45] EpicGordon Broome: Obama won, but now he's got a major painting job to do :(
[2008/11/06 12:45] Leaf Michalski: Obama is what Martin Luther King talked about
[2008/11/06 12:46] Morgaine Dinova: Green and pink?
[2008/11/06 12:46] Tree Kyomoon: john mccain is cotton hill and sarah palin is peggy hill
[2008/11/06 12:46] Torley Linden: there was a comic this morning that shows Obama assembling the constitution like a jigsaw puzzle, presumably after it had been torn to shreds
[2008/11/06 12:46] EpicGordon Broome: Can't live in the White house, now can he? :x
[2008/11/06 12:46] Torley Linden: Morgaine, what about those colors? :D
[2008/11/06 12:46] Sally Hedges: Peggy has more sense than Palin.
[2008/11/06 12:46] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: O_O
[2008/11/06 12:46] Leaf Michalski: He has a dream of there being a black president
[2008/11/06 12:46] Morgaine Dinova: Torley: your trademark ;-)
[2008/11/06 12:46] Leaf Michalski: Obama will end the steryotypes of black people
[2008/11/06 12:46] Torley Linden: oh haha, "trademark" in a loose sense, it's really open source melons
[2008/11/06 12:46] Arawn Spitteler: Has the White House still got bathrooms in threes?
[2008/11/06 12:46] Leaf Michalski: stereotypes*
[2008/11/06 12:46] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Open source :D
[2008/11/06 12:46] Torley Linden: anyone is free to improve on green and pink
[2008/11/06 12:47] Tree Kyomoon: nice melons!
[2008/11/06 12:47] Morgaine Dinova: Open source colors, whatever next :P
[2008/11/06 12:47] Rush Gastel: how about pink and green
[2008/11/06 12:47] Rush Gastel: much better combo
[2008/11/06 12:47] Tree Kyomoon: DNA is open source
[2008/11/06 12:48] Morgaine Dinova: Yet companies are patenting DNA sequences, as if they'd created them.
[2008/11/06 12:48] Tree Kyomoon: wait...what if some superior race actually owns the intergalactic rights to DNA? We are screwed.
[2008/11/06 12:48] Crap Mariner: any plans to get sushi another cat to play with?
[2008/11/06 12:48] Torley Linden: yeah, some of these scientific patents... they are odd... like, patenting a new lifeform... hrmmm
[2008/11/06 12:48] Torley Linden: not yet Crap, sushi is plenty a handful
[2008/11/06 12:48] Torley Linden: ;D
[2008/11/06 12:49] Squirrel Wood: patent patenting. I bet nobody thought of that yet :p
[2008/11/06 12:49] Torley Linden: but i heard good things from Runitai Linden awhile back (he has multiple cats)
[2008/11/06 12:49] Tyler Messenger: im about to get up who wants my seat lol
[2008/11/06 12:49] Torley Linden: meta-patents, Squirrel. har har
[2008/11/06 12:49] Tree Kyomoon: Is "Crap" the new awesome?
[2008/11/06 12:49] Morgaine Dinova: Name one Schrodinger and get him a box
[2008/11/06 12:49] Arawn Spitteler: Talk to the Agniras; she invented Intellectual Property Rights
[2008/11/06 12:49] Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
[2008/11/06 12:49] Jaymes Kjeller: It'll end up like Metal Gear Solid. Speaking of whitch, I took a picture here in another avatar. I can share it with you all, if you want. :)
[2008/11/06 12:50] Squirrel Wood: Fear of a Palin Presidency Drives US Expats to Vote for Obama ^^
[2008/11/06 12:50] Tree Kyomoon really wants the new Bioshock game to come out asap
[2008/11/06 12:50] Crap Mariner: I don't think I am the new awesome.
[2008/11/06 12:50] Torley Linden: Metal Gear Solid has one of my fave soundtracks!
[2008/11/06 12:50] Torley Linden: there's a new Bioshock game?!
[2008/11/06 12:50] Arawn Spitteler ponders: What if we held an election, and nobody ran?
[2008/11/06 12:50] Torley Linden: i heard rumors of a prequel-sequel
[2008/11/06 12:51] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Utopia has my favourite soundtrack.
[2008/11/06 12:51] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Only because it's so peaceful.
[2008/11/06 12:51] Torley Linden: i <3 classic retrogaming

[2008/11/06 12:51] Torley Linden: i'm big into the philosophy of Jenova Chen!
[2008/11/06 12:51] Tree Kyomoon: by which i mean awesome!
[2008/11/06 12:51] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: If you need retro VG music, ask me first :P
[2008/11/06 12:51] EpicGordon Broome: Bioshock had, most likely, the most brilliant level design i ever saw.
[2008/11/06 12:51] Jaymes Kjeller: I like MGS because it's interesing as a whole.
[2008/11/06 12:51] Leaf Michalski: Im out lata
[2008/11/06 12:51] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: bioshock is amazing.
[2008/11/06 12:51] Arawn Spitteler: Which? That hour was over at 12
[2008/11/06 12:52] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: one game I didn't get rid of.
[2008/11/06 12:52] EpicGordon Broome: Concerning detail and coherence.
[2008/11/06 12:52] Morgaine Dinova: MGS had a better intro than most $100m Hollywood movies.
[2008/11/06 12:52] EpicGordon Broome: But i STILL love Albion :p
[2008/11/06 12:52] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Remind me to record the music for you :P
[2008/11/06 12:52] Tree Kyomoon: crap may not be awesome, but its a little bit of all right.
[2008/11/06 12:52] EpicGordon Broome: :D
[2008/11/06 12:52] EpicGordon Broome: Record the music for me.
[2008/11/06 12:52] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: ...lol
[2008/11/06 12:52] Torley Linden: i liked System Shock, i haven't played Bioshock
[2008/11/06 12:52] Tibbi Intikhab: it's been fun. Later.
[2008/11/06 12:53] Torley Linden: Deus Ex remains my fave computer game
[2008/11/06 12:53] Torley Linden: take care Tibbi!
[2008/11/06 12:53] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: See you :o
[2008/11/06 12:53] EpicGordon Broome: Bioshock is like System Shock, only shinier :p
[2008/11/06 12:53] Arawn Spitteler wonders if there's an hour for Vivox. Something that seemed to happen, for a couple others, on SLim, was a voice answering machine, that the users had no control over.
[2008/11/06 12:53] Tree Kyomoon: bioshock is the best game of all time
[2008/11/06 12:53] EpicGordon Broome: Nope.
[2008/11/06 12:53] Tree Kyomoon: next to portal
[2008/11/06 12:53] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: System Shock is another I must record x_x
[2008/11/06 12:53] EpicGordon Broome: Lemmings is the best game of all time.
[2008/11/06 12:53] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: :D
[2008/11/06 12:53] EpicGordon Broome: :D
[2008/11/06 12:53] Morgaine Dinova: Oh no!
[2008/11/06 12:53] Torley Linden: Arawn, there isn't -- but that voicemail is still in the works, i believe. there is a public place to report your issues, did you see it?
[2008/11/06 12:53] Arawn Spitteler: Is SLim at http://secondlife.com/SLim ?
[2008/11/06 12:53] Morgaine Dinova: :P
[2008/11/06 12:53] Torley Linden: i played Lemmings for hours
[2008/11/06 12:53] Tree Kyomoon: no actually its pong
[2008/11/06 12:53] Torley Linden: yes Arawn!
[2008/11/06 12:53] Torley Linden: Lemmings had great mod music
[2008/11/06 12:53] Tree Kyomoon: or pente
[2008/11/06 12:54] Jaymes Kjeller: Of course, my obsession with MGS can lead to some very weird things. For example, this: http://snurl.com/56j89 - It's a picture I've took here. Guess what I'm suppposed to be?
[2008/11/06 12:54] Tree Kyomoon: Lemmiwinks!
[2008/11/06 12:54] Arawn Spitteler: I was at an NCI thing, when someone showed up with an unwanted answering machine.
[2008/11/06 12:54] EpicGordon Broome: When i was a kid, the "Black" and moody maps of Lemmings would scare me to death o.o
[2008/11/06 12:54] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: I'm mostly obsessed with how old PC games could sound :3
[2008/11/06 12:54] Arawn Spitteler: I haven't a mike, myself.
[2008/11/06 12:54] Juko Tempel: what did it do Arawn?
[2008/11/06 12:54] Tree Kyomoon: technologic!
[2008/11/06 12:55] Torley Linden: hmmm Jaymes, that reminds me of the ninja...
[2008/11/06 12:55] Torley Linden: argh, specific name not coming to mind!
[2008/11/06 12:55] Torley Linden: Tree, Daft Punk is definitely one of my favorites. their live arrangements rock.
[2008/11/06 12:55] EpicGordon Broome: Chuck Norris!
[2008/11/06 12:55] Torley Linden: Chuck Norris facts!
[2008/11/06 12:55] Tree Kyomoon: the ninja parade!
[2008/11/06 12:55] Torley Linden: SLim is supposed to have voicemail integrated eventually...
[2008/11/06 12:55] EpicGordon Broome: !stcaf sirroN kcuhC
[2008/11/06 12:55] Morgaine Dinova: What I want to know is when SL is taking the next leap graphically, because other than the lovely water reflections, it's getting rather long in the tooth.
[2008/11/06 12:55] Tree Kyomoon: non sequiteur!
[2008/11/06 12:55] EpicGordon Broome: ... >_>
[2008/11/06 12:56] EpicGordon Broome: You can do a whoppin lot graphically today, with the proper time and creativity
[2008/11/06 12:56] Torley Linden: Morgaine, you've already seen per-pixel-lighting and shadows yes?
[2008/11/06 12:56] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: First, I wish I didn't get 5-15 FPS on a HD3850 :(
[2008/11/06 12:56] Jaymes Kjeller: Maybe it's a good thing that it's not going overboard with graphics, because it'll end up like every other game out there.
[2008/11/06 12:56] Morgaine Dinova: Torley: maybe not: is there a demo sim?
[2008/11/06 12:56] Squirrel Wood: user created content
[2008/11/06 12:57] EpicGordon Broome: Stream Crysis graphics... ow.
[2008/11/06 12:57] Squirrel Wood: usually does not live up to the high standards the cutting edge games set
[2008/11/06 12:57] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: shadowDraft I guess torley is on about.
[2008/11/06 12:57] Torley Linden: no, but some Resident viewers have it... like KirstenLee Cinquetti's... Runitai Linden is adding it on an experimental basis...
[2008/11/06 12:57] Aimee Trescothick: I've had people get an answering machine message when trying to voice call me when I've had SLim running with the non-firstlook client at the same time
[2008/11/06 12:57] Torley Linden: yes
[2008/11/06 12:57] Tree Kyomoon: poor vinnie. (im secretly jealous of anyone with concrete block upsidedown mobiles)
[2008/11/06 12:57] Sally Hedges: I just want the stupid client to stop beings tupid, I think SL looks fine right now
[2008/11/06 12:57] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: shadowdraft crashes on my card :(
[2008/11/06 12:57] Torley Linden: what's so stupid, Sally?
[2008/11/06 12:57] Jaymes Kjeller: For example, Crysis. That can really make GPU's panic.
[2008/11/06 12:57] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Makes no sense - Dx10.1 compatible too.
[2008/11/06 12:57] Torley Linden: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBIdIiSY45U <-- my demo video with shadows
[2008/11/06 12:58] EpicGordon Broome: I ran Crysis on med on mah FX 1700
[2008/11/06 12:58] Torley Linden: what is high end today will be midrange in 2 years, tech is like that -- not just SL, but the whole industry
[2008/11/06 12:58] EpicGordon Broome: I be crazy
[2008/11/06 12:58] EpicGordon Broome: :D
[2008/11/06 12:58] Juko Tempel: so what is the slurl stuff you're working on Torley?
[2008/11/06 12:58] EpicGordon Broome: Quadro FX that is
[2008/11/06 12:58] Morgaine Dinova: Jaymes: you mean you want SL to look historic, just to avoid looking like every other 3D system out there? Philip said in January on TV that he wants SL to go photorealistic. We need major improvements for that to happen.
[2008/11/06 12:58] Sally Hedges: I play from work *shhhh* and the network I use is flaky. Sometimes it disconnects me, that's cool, I expect it. What ISN'T cool is restarting the client, having it try to connect, having it tell me I was disconnected from the region (no shit) then CLOSE on me and force me to re-open it and reconnect a second time, I would think it would be smart enough to restart the login process on its own rather than totally shutting the client down
[2008/11/06 12:58] Morgaine Dinova: Cheers Torley
[2008/11/06 12:58] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Photorealistic will probably happen when OpenGL 3 is released.
[2008/11/06 12:58] Torley Linden: Juko, promoting better linking to Second Life so existing Residents can get to places in SL from the web easier, and new people can become Residents and discover the joy for themselves!
[2008/11/06 12:59] Juko Tempel: tinyurls?
[2008/11/06 12:59] Arawn Spitteler: Older Ssytems can't handle newer games. I'm not the only one that can't use Windlaugh
[2008/11/06 12:59] Tree Kyomoon: my 19th century "bauch and lomb Continental" microscope is still high end, even though its 120 years old.
[2008/11/06 12:59] Aimee Trescothick: proper control over the placing of ground textures would be a good start
[2008/11/06 12:59] Tree Kyomoon: but it didnt vote for obama.
[2008/11/06 12:59] Rush Gastel: dont know if you seen this one but it best sl vid i have seen http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ycMM4jHEUII
[2008/11/06 12:59] Torley Linden: Sally, that's very non-trivial. i know it seems like it should be WAY easier to reconect than restart the client... according to some of LL's engineers with the most experience in this area, it isn't.
[2008/11/06 12:59] Crap Mariner: wouldnt big spaceship need to incorporate that slurl rapid-signup pathway?
[2008/11/06 13:00] Torley Linden: Juko, yes, or i would hope for a slurl.com built-in TinyURL (just as an example)
[2008/11/06 13:00] Juko Tempel nods
[2008/11/06 13:00] Crap Mariner: get them educated, but get them the basics fast to get them in...
[2008/11/06 13:00] Simon Kline: cool
[2008/11/06 13:00] Torley Linden: i anticipate working closer with Big Spaceship...
[2008/11/06 13:00] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: I shall be right back, I'm going to make a cup of mint tea :D
[2008/11/06 13:00] Torley Linden: long SLURLs have more context (like a picture) but are ugly. and they often break.
[2008/11/06 13:00] Simon Kline: haha if you get close enough you might actually get to step inside the Big Spaceship
[2008/11/06 13:00] Tree Kyomoon: Dont get abducted Torley!!!!
[2008/11/06 13:01] Torley Linden: hahahaha
[2008/11/06 13:01] Torley Linden: Close Encounters of the SLrd Kind
[2008/11/06 13:01] Simon Kline: lol
[2008/11/06 13:01] Crap Mariner: i've never been happy with that 20% replacement for space in the url...
[2008/11/06 13:01] Tree Kyomoon: ITSFA-"im too sexy for acronyms"
[2008/11/06 13:02] Crap Mariner always uses one word sim names to avoid that
[2008/11/06 13:02] Sally Hedges: ha ha ha ha ha
[2008/11/06 13:02] Sally Hedges: AND THEN I CRASH
[2008/11/06 13:02] Torley Linden: yeah Crap, it looks so weird... :\ established protocol, but people, especially non-technically savvy, find that unattractive
[2008/11/06 13:02] Torley Linden: :(
[2008/11/06 13:02] Austen Scanlan: The Machinima Expo slated take place in Montreal as part of the Canadian Arcadia Games festival will now take place Sunday, November 9th from 9AM to 9PM on Second Life’s Jamvile Island. [2008/11/06 13:02] Torley Linden: *reads*
[2008/11/06 13:02] Sally Hedges: Also it'd be nice if the client, when you elect to not render things, would keep those settings on restart
[2008/11/06 13:02] Tree Kyomoon: attack adz!
[2008/11/06 13:03] Squirrel Wood: Your internet access is going to get suspended
[2008/11/06 13:03] Sally Hedges: NEVER
[2008/11/06 13:03] Squirrel Wood: The Internet Service Provider Consorcium was made to protect the rights of software authors, artists.
We conduct regular wiretapping on our networks, to monitor criminal acts.
[2008/11/06 13:03] Sally Hedges: oh wait not mine
[2008/11/06 13:03] Hyper-Flute Composer Edition v3 (HUD1-Upper): Playing Score 'Close Encounters Theme... (Transcribed for Hyper-Flute by Gunkeeper Nabob)'
[2008/11/06 13:03] Tree Kyomoon: they'll put corks in our tubes!
[2008/11/06 13:03] Torley Linden: Sally, i think that can be modified in the XML to persist — or try locking the file as a workaround. but the reason why some of those "render toggles" do not persist is precisely because they confuse new Residents who wonder why stuff isn't showing.
[2008/11/06 13:03] Torley Linden: oh wow, that was actually transcribed? brilliant.
[2008/11/06 13:03] Sally Hedges: Understandable, but the restart the client because disconnected from region thing? Also going to lunch.
[2008/11/06 13:04] Torley Linden: Sally, yes -- wish that was easier. did you see my explanation earlier?
[2008/11/06 13:04] Torley Linden: not as easy as i'd hope.
[2008/11/06 13:04] Sally Hedges: No that was when I crashed 8D
[2008/11/06 13:04] EpicGordon Broome: 8D
[2008/11/06 13:04] Torley Linden: i said... Torley Linden: Sally, that's very non-trivial. i know it seems like it should be WAY easier to reconect than restart the client... according to some of LL's engineers with the most experience in this area, it isn't.
[2008/11/06 13:04] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: I'm back while I wait 4-5 minutes for the teabag ^^
[2008/11/06 13:04] EpicGordon Broome: The average norwegian let the teabag soak for 42 seconds.
[2008/11/06 13:04] Crap Mariner: hahahahaha reading cnet's story on how the cnn hologram is horrendous
[2008/11/06 13:04] EpicGordon Broome: Coincidence? I THINK NOT!
[2008/11/06 13:05] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: I won't get the full minty flavour unless I leave the bag to soak :p
[2008/11/06 13:05] Sally Hedges: Sadly that's sometimes how it is. :(
[2008/11/06 13:05] Torley Linden: Crap, where is it?
[2008/11/06 13:05] Tree Kyomoon: I want a hologram!
[2008/11/06 13:05] Sally Hedges: Ah well ,lunch :3
[2008/11/06 13:05] Torley Linden: i want a hologram who verbally abuses me, so i can turn it off
[2008/11/06 13:05] Crap Mariner: posting on my twitter stream
[2008/11/06 13:05] Tree Kyomoon: holy crap!
[2008/11/06 13:05] Torley Linden: *looks*
[2008/11/06 13:05] Jaymes Kjeller: You know...I'm thinking that I'm one of those mutants that really likes retro things.
[2008/11/06 13:05] Crap Mariner: (isfullofcrap, not secondlie... heh)
[2008/11/06 13:05] EpicGordon Broome: Torley
[2008/11/06 13:05] EpicGordon Broome: MElon Texture
[2008/11/06 13:05] EpicGordon Broome: Do want
[2008/11/06 13:05] EpicGordon Broome: Pwease
[2008/11/06 13:06] EpicGordon Broome: :x
[2008/11/06 13:06] Arawn Spitteler recalls the famous words of Harcort Fenton Mudd.
[2008/11/06 13:06] Torley Linden: yes EpicGordon plz i can has, wait, which one do you want?
[2008/11/06 13:06] Tree Kyomoon: crap is an excellent name...note to self...name first born crap
[2008/11/06 13:06] Crap Mariner: nah
[2008/11/06 13:06] EpicGordon Broome: The one you haz on youi
[2008/11/06 13:06] Crap Mariner: name second born
[2008/11/06 13:06] Torley Linden: i had an old art teacher who didn't like urban music and she noted that "rap" is so close to "crap" for a reason
[2008/11/06 13:06] EpicGordon Broome: can't tipe. I haz the dumb.
[2008/11/06 13:06] Torley Linden: sorry EpicGordon, i didn't make this one :(
[2008/11/06 13:06] Torley Linden: Milki Unknown did
[2008/11/06 13:06] EpicGordon Broome: :(
[2008/11/06 13:06] Torley Linden: i can't transferrrr it
[2008/11/06 13:06] EpicGordon Broome: Rrrrrr
[2008/11/06 13:06] Crap Mariner: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13506_3-10083609-17.html
[2008/11/06 13:06] Sahkolihaa Contepomi only listens to music released in the demoscene or that he's recorded from a video game.
[2008/11/06 13:07] Tree Kyomoon: its also close to trap!
[2008/11/06 13:07] EpicGordon Broome: Then there shall be epileptical skins instead.
[2008/11/06 13:07] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Yay for royalty fre music :D
[2008/11/06 13:07] Squirrel Wood: Epic, you can camouflage as a squirrel instead :p
[2008/11/06 13:07] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: free*
[2008/11/06 13:07] Torley Linden: i love a lot of demoscene tunes, i grew up as a tracker acolyte
[2008/11/06 13:07] Tree Kyomoon: or glove slap!
[2008/11/06 13:07] EpicGordon Broome: Mwahaha
[2008/11/06 13:07] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Hehe, that's quite surprising - I help to keep The Mod Archive alive :D
[2008/11/06 13:07] Torley Linden: was that bad bluescreen fringe around the CNN hologram, or Princess Leia grow?
[2008/11/06 13:07] Torley Linden: OH REALLY Sahkolihaa? that's way cool, i've been there lots before
[2008/11/06 13:08] Torley Linden: one of my fave mods has to be... Crystalhammer!
[2008/11/06 13:08] Tree Kyomoon: i noticed the fringe...i thought it was on purpose
[2008/11/06 13:08] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: I've got tons of favourite mods - I help to keep the website up and screen new modules.
[2008/11/06 13:08] Torley Linden: that's weird proportions on that hologram... the woman looks vertically squished and no feet
[2008/11/06 13:08] Tree Kyomoon: so dummies watching could tell she was a hologram
[2008/11/06 13:08] Torley Linden: kinda like a Jawa wannabe
[2008/11/06 13:08] Squirrel Wood: Woo. Epic's a squorpion now :p
[2008/11/06 13:09] Rush Gastel: isnt that the shape of most americans
[2008/11/06 13:09] Tree Kyomoon: were there no fringe, how do we know wolf himself isnt a hologram?
[2008/11/06 13:09] Torley Linden: *zing!*
[2008/11/06 13:09] Torley Linden: Wolf Blitzer's facial hair is too fine to chroma key out
[2008/11/06 13:09] Sahkolihaa Contepomi checks his cup of mint tea.
[2008/11/06 13:09] Torley Linden: hahahaha
[2008/11/06 13:09] Morgaine Dinova: Torley: image how things would be now if the graphics we had on puny Amigas had kept pace with the 1000X improvement in CPU speed, plus another 10X for superscalar design etc
[2008/11/06 13:09] Tree Kyomoon: so ya wanna be a boxer?
[2008/11/06 13:10] Torley Linden: Morgaine, to this day, i'm in awe... i admire the tight coding used in many demos... how limited resources were put to such epic use
[2008/11/06 13:10] Morgaine Dinova: Haha Tree. That's such an adorable movie :-)
[2008/11/06 13:10] Tree Kyomoon: "ziiing!!!"
[2008/11/06 13:10] Tree Kyomoon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5glBPhlfEs
[2008/11/06 13:10] Morgaine Dinova: Torley: yep, was just astounding. Either that or today's layer-upon-layer-upon-layer development is crap ;-)
[2008/11/06 13:11] Torley Linden: oh wow been awhile since i seen this clip, Tree
[2008/11/06 13:11] Tree Kyomoon: :)
[2008/11/06 13:11] Torley Linden: i do think there's a lot of bloat today... i remember when CD-ROMs came out and people stuffed them with full-motion video for NO GOOD REASON, not even *gasp* quality gameplay!
[2008/11/06 13:11] Morgaine Dinova: I think I've watched the movie a dozen times, and gone around singing the songs for weeks afterwards, haha
[2008/11/06 13:11] Torley Linden: it's such a catchy song
[2008/11/06 13:12] Squirrel Wood: I have one single game that runs completely off the CD it came on. Only stores savegames and the configuration on the harddisk
[2008/11/06 13:12] Morgaine Dinova: I like them all, every song in that film.
[2008/11/06 13:12] Squirrel Wood: Its called NovaStorm, requires a double speed cd drive and runs in DOS :p
[2008/11/06 13:12] Torley Linden: Squirrel, that seems like kind of a rarity? most of the games i played on CD needed to install some files...
[2008/11/06 13:12] Jaymes Kjeller: Yeah, I think so too. More gamplay to fill out a CD would be great, but the makers opted to shove FMVs in instead. I don't know why...
[2008/11/06 13:12] Morgaine Dinova: And all the characters. It's so underrated
[2008/11/06 13:12] Torley Linden: omg i remember when double speed was "fast", what was that, 300 KB/sec ?
[2008/11/06 13:13] Torley Linden: i remember seeing old documentaries like "introducing optical disc storage for your personal computer..."
[2008/11/06 13:13] Squirrel Wood: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novastorm
[2008/11/06 13:13] Torley Linden: "this cd... a compact disk... can hold six hundred and fifty megabytes of information! that's like... this whole stack of encyclopedias, with plenty of room left over for rich. engaging. vibrant. multimedia."
[2008/11/06 13:13] Rush Gastel: try going back to the cassette tape on the commodore
[2008/11/06 13:14] Rush Gastel: now that was a nightmare
[2008/11/06 13:14] Torley Linden: Rush, i never had one of those, but i remember the old disk loading sounds
[2008/11/06 13:14] Juko Tempel is pretending she doesn't remember that
[2008/11/06 13:14] Rush Gastel: i still got it in the attic somewhere
[2008/11/06 13:14] Juko Tempel has too
[2008/11/06 13:14] Juko Tempel: lol
[2008/11/06 13:14] Aimee Trescothick remembers the CD demos with people spreading jam on them an then playing them and stuff
[2008/11/06 13:15] Rush Gastel: that and a 1k sinclair zx81
[2008/11/06 13:15] Ayumii Oyen: Haloo
[2008/11/06 13:15] Aimee Trescothick: of course they only ever spread it on the back of the CD :)
