Torley Linden: Hello everyone!
Jeremy Linden: Hello Torley!
Torley Linden: Hey Jeremy!
Torley Linden sees Impostors kickin' in...
Torley Linden: Heya everyone! Welcome to our WindLight Office Hours now starting... Pastrami should be back shortly too and some other WindLight Team members may be joining us...
Ollj Oh: lets talk about vertex shading in a cardboard box environment..
Torley Linden: Ollj, please explain more, and do you already have a # on the Issue Tracker that relates to what you're saying?
Runitai Linden: /ao off
Torley Linden: Heya Runitai!
Runitai Linden: howdy
Gumby Roffo gave you G'day Note to Torley- Gumby Roffo.
Ollj Oh: avatar imposters double the framerate for me on meetings like this. nice
Torley Linden: I see Pastrami!
Torley Linden: Haha, that's such a fun waddle.
Pastrami Linden: I'm big boned
Runitai Linden: ya, they work the best in places where people aren't moving
Flezix Maddux: hello
Pastrami Linden: greetings all!
Torley Linden: Hello!
Torley Linden: Friendly greetings! =D
Aki Shichiroji: Greetings :)
Ilyushin Tzedek: Hi! ^-^
Ilyushin Tzedek: :3
Aki Shichiroji: Heyhey Lovecraft :)
Lovecraft Petrichor: Hey there Aki :D
Flezix Maddux: what is the status on the (???) (???) bug
Flezix Maddux: with attached objects
Torley Linden: Flezix, that isn't WindLight-specific.
Aki Shichiroji: I recently filed a JIRA in regards to resizing the windlight viewer with Macs... i was just curious as to whether anyone else has experienced that problem?
Funk Schnook: torley I know you said runitai checked out the foot shadow problem I reported
Funk Schnook: not sure if you saw my reply though
Flezix Maddux: it isn't? oh my bad
Torley Linden: I haven't yet, what's the URL again? Maybe Runitai would like to have a look? =)
Aki Shichiroji:
Funk Schnook: it doesnt appear to be a z sorting issue
Torley Linden: No worries Flezix, it affects the regular RC viewer too... I think it was fixed internally... let's see...
Flezix Maddux: ah i have a question about the clouds and the sun
Pastrami Linden: whats that Flezix?
Funk Schnook:
Torley Linden: Flezix --
Funk Schnook: the footshadow image actually changes
Torley Linden: Hmmm Runitai, what do you think about Funk's issue?
Runitai Linden: I'll have to take another look, then
Flezix Maddux: is it a bug that you can still see sun when clouds is full 100% or around it
Flezix Maddux: i'm talking water relections
Pastrami Linden: Flezix,
Funk Schnook: to me it looks like the alpha mask is removed, they become opaque
Funk Schnook: and pixelated
Lovecraft Petrichor: ??
Ollj Oh: have you tried a higher athmospheric density?
Pastrami Linden: you mean just in the water reflection?
Ilyushin Tzedek: i've got a few problems with the water too...
Runitai Linden: Funk: I'll take another look, I just looked at the screenshot and thought it was z fighting
Lovecraft Petrichor cheers himself.
Ollj Oh: opengl has problems with alpha channel z buffering if vetrtex shaders are enabled
Aki Shichiroji chuckles.
Runitai Linden hates working on foot shadows.
Funk Schnook: yeah I know they suck
Torley Linden: Those foot shadows are so damn ugly.
Funk Schnook: maybe we should just ditch them,
Runitai Linden: tried
Runitai Linden: people complain
Torley Linden: Client menu > Rendering > Features > Foot Shadows is a temporary workaround...
Funk Schnook: and about the other issue where 32 bit images with alpha masks look all jagy at a distance
Ilyushin Tzedek: eugh, can't please both greeks and trojans i guess
Lovecraft Petrichor: did non lindens complain about foot shadow loss?
Funk Schnook: Id like that optimisation toned down
Torley Linden: Intriguing way to put it, Ilyushin.
Funk Schnook: its too much
Ollj Oh: the ATI RADEON HD 2600XT card does not render water reflectiosn in any client so far. but vertex shader works in all other opengl demos and apis
Ilyushin Tzedek: it's a common saying where i'm from
Funk Schnook:
Torley Linden: I have seen some 32-bit textures look crappy at longer distances... like animated flames.
Funk Schnook: I cant create "transaprent" layers with text over my stuff
Torley Linden: Ollj, that sounds like a known issue already up on the list. Know where to find Windlight issues?
Torley Linden: I'll show you if you don't yet. =)
Ollj Oh: show log on cards
Pastrami Linden: Hey Torley, would we maybe want to switch to moderated questions- I mean to set the pace
Funk Schnook: the animations view from a distance have a problem too but I dont know the jira number... it shows ALL frames untill you zoom in
Pastrami Linden: i.e. people send to you and then you pick the next one?
Pastrami Linden: this is getting difficult to track
Aki Shichiroji agrees.
Ilyushin Tzedek agrees too
Torley Linden: Good idea Pastrami... only prob is my IMs are usually a heck to sort on this account. :\
Pastrami Linden: I'll do it
Torley Linden: I could switch accounts tho to an obscure tester one.
Torley Linden: K... so... anyone with a question, please IM Pastrami Linden. :)
Pastrami Linden: people, IM me and I will pick the next ones
Pastrami Linden: yeah
Aki Shichiroji: Thanks :)
Pastrami Linden: of course
Torley Linden: I'll be making notes and posting a chat transcript after so we're even more organized.
Pastrami Linden: first question:
Pastrami Linden: Ilyushin Tzedek: hi, i seem to be having some troubles with the water that i just can't fix. it's all ugly and inky and no matter what i do to the settings it stays that way
Pastrami Linden: Ilyushin, hardware?
Ilyushin Tzedek: nVidia Go 6600 with the latest OEM drivers provided by Toshiba, windows XP Media Center Edition
Runitai Linden: there's a known issue with nVidia Go drivers and the water sahder
Runitai Linden: shader, even
Pastrami Linden: gentlemen, thoughts? This part of the general Go problems?
Pastrami Linden: aha
Torley Linden: It sounds like this issue, yes...
Pastrami Linden: Ilyushin we should be getting some Gos soon in house to test
Ilyushin Tzedek: so it's my card that's beyond redemption?
Lovecraft Petrichor: Shame that, nVidia cards work so well with other software... :(
Runitai Linden: no, it's something we plan on fixing
Ilyushin Tzedek: Go's seem to be generally made of fail and lose though D:
Ilyushin Tzedek: that's excellent news, Runitai
Ilyushin Tzedek: also, on this note
Runitai Linden: but we don't have the hardware in house to test (all our laptops are macbooks)
Ilyushin Tzedek: the fact that all my attachments disappear if i look at them through the surface is also in that list of issues?
Runitai Linden: so we ordered a laptop, once it gets here, it should be fixed shortly
Pastrami Linden: agreed
Pastrami Linden: alright, moving along.....
Ilyushin Tzedek: yey :D thanks for the answers
Runitai Linden: don't know about the attachments, but probably
Pastrami Linden: sure!
Torley Linden: Great, I've updated the issue with a comment too, so everyone else who sees it knows.
Aki Shichiroji: Heyhey Peta :)
Pastrami Linden: sorry, missed the attachments question
Runitai Linden: now that I think about it, yeah, that would cause attachments (and other prims) to disappear on the other side of water
Torley Linden: I remember there was a previous WindLight bug where attachments were invisible underwater.
Pastrami Linden: cool
Pastrami Linden: alright-
Pastrami Linden: Aki Shichiroji: Hi Pastrami - I have a question in regards to . I have found that my viewer causes an immediate system freeze whenever i try to resize my window in any way. Is this a known issue, and given the fact that it crashes whole systems, requiring a hard reboot, will it be looked in to soon?
Lovecraft Petrichor: Hello Nepeta :D
Pastrami Linden: I think this is the same as our internal window to fullscreen issue
Pastrami Linden: thoughts?
Nepeta Ling: hello lovecraft
Runitai Linden: this is mac specific, right?
Torley Linden: Hmmm... I can repro the "internal window to fullscreen" one, but not this...
Aki Shichiroji: yes, i am on a Mac PPC PB
Torley Linden: I haven't heard of anyone else who's had exactly the same problem as Aki... yet.
Runitai Linden: ok, this is the first I've heard of that either
Aki Shichiroji: i have heard from one other person who is experiencing this
Aki Shichiroji: i will try to get him to comment on the jira issue
Torley Linden: Aki, great, thanks. It's important to comment, those "me toos, and here's my details" are very helpful.
Torley Linden: It helps us better assess the scope and extent of a problem.
Runitai Linden: kk, this might even be specific to PPC macs
Aki Shichiroji nods.
Aki Shichiroji: true. i don't honestly know what he was running.
Aki Shichiroji: i'll give him a shout when i get a chance
Pastrami Linden: cool
Torley Linden: :)
Pastrami Linden: gonna move on-
Pastrami Linden: Funk Schnook: Id like to talk about the washed out textures. Not a question. But it seems to me that users will need to adjust textures to work in WL better, which is crazy considering the amount of content already on the grid. This isnt a good solution
Pastrami Linden: Funk
Pastrami Linden: it's a well known issue,
Pastrami Linden: and we will fix it
Funk Schnook: yes I know
Funk Schnook: but I have also been looking at linden comments
Torley Linden: Be sure to see
Pastrami Linden: we will not let it get into the release viewer like this
Funk Schnook: and torleys wiki on the WL project
Torley Linden: We'll continue to update that too as we make changes + progress... thanks for already looking at it. :)
Funk Schnook: and it seems that a lot of it is being put down to aesthetics and "not sure if its a real problem" type thing
Pastrami Linden: Funk
Pastrami Linden: there are two different issues-
Pastrami Linden: one is overall texture/color balance
Pastrami Linden: the other is avatar lighting
Pastrami Linden: re: the first,
Pastrami Linden: rest assured the final presets/code will NOT be as washed out or overbright for midday and night
Funk Schnook: yeah I understand
Funk Schnook: good
Torley Linden: As it says on the page, "We're going to tweak settings like gamma so the end result is more balanced." :)
Funk Schnook: Ill just keep making that point till I see some results though ;)
Pastrami Linden: Funk,
Pastrami Linden: my advice is to wait until you see the jira issue solved in the Release Notes,
Pastrami Linden: if it's still off balanced in our opinion
Pastrami Linden: THEN comment
Funk Schnook: of course
Pastrami Linden: our que is a bit long-
Funk Schnook: but until today and what you just said I wasnt sure how you felt
Funk Schnook: so its worth bringing up
Pastrami Linden: so it'd be like calling Best Buy everyday when your TV is on backorder
Pastrami Linden: :)
Pastrami Linden: yep, no problem
Torley Linden: I know it really feels good to talk to us personally. :D
Torley Linden: (Hence why we're doing this.)
Pastrami Linden: my words from me to you- and I have a pretty big say in what gets out there, color- and value-wise
Pastrami Linden: :)
Pastrami Linden: re: avatars,
Pastrami Linden: just since I know some of you are thinking about it,
Torley Linden: That FAQ will keep being updated too, Funk, so you can keep checking back.
Pastrami Linden: they will look better
Pastrami Linden: but likely not *identical* to the old viewer
Pastrami Linden: right now lighting is too harsh, agreed
Pastrami Linden: but they were treated a little specially in the older viewers
Pastrami Linden: and we're moving to having them be lit just like the rest of the world
Pastrami Linden: (which is currently overshot anyway ;) )
Funk Schnook: yeah I dont expect the exact same look... or asking for it
Pastrami Linden: coo
Stumbelina Ophelia: i want better
Nepeta Ling: welcome back love lee
Pastrami Linden: alright, moving on-
Pastrami Linden: hehe
Lovecraft Petrichor: Thank you :)
Aki Shichiroji: wb Love
Pastrami Linden: yep
Pastrami Linden: Stumbelina Ophelia: Can you talk about default light setting in WL. I just think its so harsh. I prefer something more neutral. I can't get the skin to look anywhere near the current client. Avie's generally look deranged in WL.
Pastrami Linden: think this one was pretty well answered ;)
Stumbelina Ophelia: but yes, less crackwhory if you can..
Pastrami Linden: watch the new releases and the bugs fixed in the release notes
Hevenz Vansant shouts: [13:24] snaibi Meili hit you with a scripted object
Torley Linden: LOL, "crackwhory", that's a funny word.
Pastrami Linden: we personally enjoy the look of strung out service professionals. But you have my assurance :)
Funk Schnook: just do -10 on the crackhorny code ;)
Torley Linden: "Crackhorny" is even funnier.
Stumbelina Ophelia: i just feel that the avatar apparance is so very important in sl
Funk Schnook wonders what crackhorny is
Funk Schnook: oh
Funk Schnook: I misread it lol
Pastrami Linden: Flezix Maddux: I still see the suns reflection when cloud cover is at 100%
Pastrami Linden: Flezix,
Pastrami Linden: this occurs because we do not yet have cloud shadows on the terrain
Pastrami Linden: heck, we don't have shadows anywhere :)
Funk Schnook: is that planned?
Pastrami Linden: yep
Funk Schnook: oh cool
Pastrami Linden: so light is always "on", so to speak
Pastrami Linden: actually, Runitai-
Pastrami Linden: / BigPapi
Pastrami Linden: what do you think about a simple scalar like we did with loca lights
Pastrami Linden: but tied to cloud cover?
Pastrami Linden: that attenuates the water glimmer?
Runitai Linden: I think people can already get good overcast lighting by tweaking the sliders
BigPapi Linden: Pastrami: Easy to do. But bigger fish to fry right now.
BigPapi Linden: :)
Runitai Linden: I mean, you can set it to overcast with the cloud cover and leave the lighitng sliders alone, and it will light like it's a sunny day
Lovecraft Petrichor: but not moving shadows with the cloud cover
Runitai Linden: or you can tweak the lighting sliders to make it light like it's overcast (increase ambient lighting)
Lovecraft Petrichor: which would be sublime
Pastrami Linden: BigPapi, agreed
BigPapi Linden: I'd argue that we don't expose the advanced sliders normally, so non-power users that increase cloud cover should have that automatically have some effect on the lighting.
Torley Linden: So many new possibilities have opened up with the presence of those sliders.
Pastrami Linden: BP
Pastrami Linden: I don't think we need a slider
BigPapi Linden: increasing the cloud cover already tweaks ambient, maybe it should do the same for direct.
Runitai Linden: BigPapi: sounds good
Lovecraft Petrichor: It could be a beautiful effect to have the clouds of windlight as a shadowmap moving across the terrain
Pastrami Linden: if by direct you also mean the direct reflection on the water, then I agree
Pastrami Linden: Lovecraft,
Runitai Linden: we'll definitely be looking at clouds casting shadows in the future, but not for this release
Pastrami Linden: see the following:
BigPapi Linden: pastrami: its one and the same. Dropping down the brightness of the sun's light color will drop the shimmer on the water.
Torley Linden: I'd love to have a field full of assorted animals and watch the cloud shadows go over them... like one of those horror movies.
Pastrami Linden:
Funk Schnook: Id like more better av shadows
Lovecraft Petrichor agrees with Torley.
Pastrami Linden: for Lovecraft
Funk Schnook: er scratch "more"
Lovecraft Petrichor: ThanksPastami :D
Pastrami Linden: that shows WindLight in its first incarnation, outside of SL
Pastrami Linden: and what's coming
Pastrami Linden: BP, you mind jirafying that for me?
Pastrami Linden: cloud/direct attenuation?
Pastrami Linden: next question-
Pastrami Linden: Funk Schnook: Im wondering if you guys are looking at changing the UI for skies/water. Id like to have a quick way to select my presets or even assign shortcuts. I havent seen anything about this so just wondering
Pastrami Linden: Funk,
snaibi Meili: yes
Pastrami Linden: I think your answer will come with LSL/scriptable WL
snaibi Meili: i have a question
Pastrami Linden: /estate/assets
Torley Linden: snaibi, please IM your questions to Pastrami Linden...
Pastrami Linden: snaibi, IM me
Torley Linden: he's answering them in turn. :D
Funk Schnook: no I just mean Id like a faster way via the menus
Pastrami Linden: please
Pastrami Linden: Funk - it's 3 moves now-
Funk Schnook: right now I need to go through 3 or menus and buttons before I get the presets dropdowns
Ollj Oh: uh. just transfer a script that sets up windlight
Pastrami Linden: right
Funk Schnook: even those drop downs were on the first editor it would be nicer
Funk Schnook: like under/bbesides the sky / water buttons
Pastrami Linden: Funk, the issue is that it then makes it more cluttered for new users-
Torley Linden: Funk, are you thinking of... perhaps, shortcuts to the Advanced Sky & Water editors like we currently have for the basic Environment Editor?
Pastrami Linden: it's the perennial problem of exposing functionality vs. ease of use
alpha Klata: hey hey peeps :)
Pastrami Linden: Torley, that's a good idea
Pastrami Linden: hey alpha
Pastrami Linden: snaibi, I think our que is clear - wanna IM me your question?
Funk Schnook: personally Id like to be able to add my presets right to the first menu where we select sunset and noon
Funk Schnook: sorry not in WL now Im on the RC
Torley Linden: Sounds like it'd become more like a web browser's bookmarks.
Torley Linden: I'd like that ease-of-use too...
Funk Schnook: yeah
Torley Linden: I often find the screen getting so cluttered with various windows.
Funk Schnook: sort of like boomarks right
Revolution Perenti: also i have a question which i would love to use like the glow feature in sl edit mode is awesome but would of been nice for us scripters to have the constants for glow in llSetPrimitiveParams soon too
Ollj Oh: will the 2 clients run parallel or will thez merge into one?
Pastrami Linden: Revolution, please IM questions to me-
Lovecraft Petrichor agrees with Revolution.
Runitai Linden: crap, did we forget to add LSL for glow?
Funk Schnook: yeah I think so
Revolution Perenti: ty Pastrami
Runitai Linden: oops
Funk Schnook: I saw something about that
Jeremy Linden: Last I heard, scripted glow was scheduled for the same time as WindLight tradeable assets.
Ollj Oh: heh
Pastrami Linden: I recall it was planned
Torley Linden: Yeah I was wondering about that too, I asked Qarl...
Pastrami Linden: right
Pastrami Linden: it should be simple enough
Pastrami Linden: Torley can you jira if it's not already there - assign to moi?
Revolution Perenti: well i was trying to work out the hex code for it , im sure its there somewhere lol
Torley Linden: That would be so awesome to get into a vehicle and have it start glowing...
Runitai Linden: yeah, it just gets complicated because it requries a simulator deploy, which we're trying to do fewer of
Torley Linden: sure will Pastrami. *makes a note*
Pastrami Linden: Aki Shichiroji: Given that we have to save our own custom settings anyway... Will it ever be possible to pass around presets like inventory?
Pastrami Linden: Yep
Aki Shichiroji: yaaay
Pastrami Linden: next phase of the project = tradeable assets/scriptability
Ollj Oh: err. glow amount is set by the alpha channel. therefore you can just toggler textures to change glow!!!
Pastrami Linden: right now it's almost like a teaser
Runitai Linden: Pastrami: do we have that on the public wiki anywhere?
Torley Linden: Aki, also see: :)
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at []: see
Pastrami Linden: there it is
Torley Linden: That's a very very popular question.
Pastrami Linden: :)
Runitai Linden: w00!
Torley Linden: And a very very good question.
Aki Shichiroji: Torley> i haven't had too much time to look at that new point, but does that mean a significant jump in minimum required hardware?
Revolution Perenti: also any windlight users have this really big bug and i mean big, i use llSetPrimitiveParams for texture changes in my holodeck for example and some reason all textures go transparent first i thought this was an attack on my sim until i relogged, reinstalled WL many times too, torley you ever had this yet
Pastrami Linden: Revolution, please IM me
Pastrami Linden: with any questions
Pastrami Linden: helps us keep this channel neat
Torley Linden: Aki, you should really read the FAQ, it answers that too -- in short, no, there won't be a big change in System Requirements/Recommendations.
Aki Shichiroji: kk
Funk Schnook: I use llSetPrimitiveParams on a fw things too but havent noticed that problem
Funk Schnook: for texture changes
Pastrami Linden: then I'll post into there
Pastrami Linden: ^here
Lovecraft Petrichor: I noticed that you have to turn on the check box for full bright on attached textures, like hair, in windlight to make them not full bright
Lovecraft Petrichor: like it was backwards
Pastrami Linden: Lovecraft, will get to you in a sec-
Pastrami Linden: Revolution Perenti: well i know there are many bugs with the new windlight some are quite series for example i use llSetPrimitiveParams for changing color , textures etc but im sure its not this causing the problem but the viewer itself like the build of mine looks like all the walls etc were gone and even could not select objects as if they were transpaerent but its was like they werent even there
Pastrami Linden: Rev,
Funk Schnook: that sounds like the occulsion bug
Torley Linden: Hey that one sounds familiar... ;)
Pastrami Linden: I believe that's caused by known occlusion issues
Pastrami Linden: which we believe have been fixed
Torley Linden: , top of the list.
Pastrami Linden: and will be in the FirstLook *two* releases from now
Pastrami Linden: Funk Schnook: Do you have other ways to get some feedback on WL apart from jira. Its too complex for the average user. Can you just talk about how youre getting some feedback from the average joe?
Revolution Perenti: yes sorry
Pastrami Linden: Funk
Pastrami Linden: blog comments to our posts are very helpful
Pastrami Linden: as are our Office Hours!
Funk Schnook: blog comments are capped too fast for anything useful though
Pastrami Linden: Torley, other thoughts?
Funk Schnook: its always people complaining about other issues
Torley Linden: Yup, if you know how to get into Second Life, you know how to be here.
Torley Linden: I've also personally scoured through a lot of feedback on other channels...
Torley Linden: like plain ol' email.
Torley Linden: And Flickr, Snapzilla, and other photosharing sites...
Torley Linden: which are pretty straightforward to use too.
Funk Schnook: yeah its spread all over the place making it harrd to track
Funk Schnook: thats kind of why I asked
Torley Linden: The Issue Tracker is important though, because it helps us keep organized/avoid useless redundancy.
Runitai Linden: the best thing to do is vote on public jira issues
Torley Linden: A lot of the hot issues come up in multiple places.
Pastrami Linden: yeah
Torley Linden: And you can easily vote with a single click once logged in.
Funk Schnook: jira and normal users just dont work together
Pastrami Linden: might be worth investing the time to learn it
Funk Schnook: its aint happening
Torley Linden: Funk: If you have specific JIRA usability concerns, please share what they are.
Torley Linden: We've been continuing to do Issue Tracker education and help Residents learn it... it's not hard once you get used to it...
Torley Linden: Jeremy even made a great blog post yesterday.
Funk Schnook: Ive tried to get people to vote on lots of my bugs, they are just way too scared of using it :)
Torley Linden:
Jeremy Linden: It can be pretty intimidating at first glance... but it's very rewarding once you learn the basics.
Pastrami Linden: agreed
Revolution Perenti: alot of us are barewithing these bugs for the awesome look, but what % of people have hi spec machines myself i dont have a problem being programmer and sl scripter but seems alot of users are using lowend ie geforce 3 series will there be more then 1 viewer type when this WL is stable lol
Torley Linden: I've also seen that fear go away once people are more familiar... I trust people smart enough to use Second Life can use the Issue Tracker.
Pastrami Linden: take a look at that knowledge base
Sascha Vandyke: btw you look ruthed Funk, lol
Pastrami Linden: Torley, worth making a video tip of the week? I know it'd be kinda dull- but perhaps?
Funk Schnook: I love SL
Sascha Vandyke: better
Torley Linden: Pastrami, for the Issue Tracker, I might. It's a fine topic.
Funk Schnook: the shape bugs are great
Pastrami Linden: yeah
Pastrami Linden: alright-
Pastrami Linden: Hevenz Vansant: did you guys address the issue of shiny textures turning to mud at nighttime windlight settings?
Torley Linden: I remember Iridium was gonna do one but she's not @ LL anymore. *sigh*
Torley Linden: Hahaha Hevenz, I was just talking with BigPapi about that yesterday!
Hevenz Vansant: lol
Pastrami Linden: yeah,
Pastrami Linden: but this might be independent of what we solved
Hevenz Vansant: its depressing considering 90% of mu build is metallic :p
Torley Linden: WindLight: Shiny objects are matte (i.e., not shiny) at midnight -
Torley Linden: Fixed Internally by BigPapi.
Hevenz Vansant: woot
Hevenz Vansant: ty
BigPapi Linden:
Runitai Linden: Here's a side by side comparison
BigPapi Linden: is the normal shiny one (the midnight one was sorta a dupe).
Torley Linden: Yup and that main "SHINY IS TOO SHINY", also fixed.
Pastrami Linden: are we sure though this is the same thing?
Pastrami Linden: ahh okay
Pastrami Linden: I was concerned it reached beyond just the cubemap being off
Torley Linden: There's a great Wall o' Shiny at Bug Island to test on.
Runitai Linden: left is old viewer, right is what's in windlight internally
Runitai Linden: top to bottom, noon, sunset, midnight
Torley Linden: Nice picture Runitai.
Torley Linden: Ahhh visual aids.
BigPapi Linden: If you look at the jira tasks we jsut linked, I included their screenshot comparisons of shiny in OLD windlight and in the new internal WL.
Pastrami Linden: I think we're out of questions-
Pastrami Linden: anyone else?
Pastrami Linden: (please IM me)
Runitai Linden: Rev had a question about forking the viewer
Pastrami Linden: ahh, take it away Runitai
Runitai Linden: Revolution Perenti: alot of us are barewithing these bugs for the awesome look, but what % of people have hi spec machines myself i dont have a problem being programmer and sl scripter but seems alot of users are using lowend ie geforce 3 series will there be more then 1 viewer type when this WL is stable lol
Runitai Linden: I just saw those stats...
Snai Memel: oups
Snai Memel: sorry
Snai Memel: sasha
Runitai Linden: anyway, we're not planning on forking the viewer, so it will still be one viewer that does both high end and low end
Sascha Vandyke: is ok, lol
Runitai Linden: Just about everybody has a GeForce FX or later
Vicero Lambert: Sorry for intruding but whats the topic? Windlight?
Torley Linden: Yes.
Torley Linden: WINDLIGHT!
Pastrami Linden: Funk Schnook: when is the next release planned?
Pastrami Linden: by end of this week
Runitai Linden: anyone have those stats handy?
Vicero Lambert: Is there a fix for the tree shading?
Sascha Vandyke: ok then i may try it again too. i want to see if i get infos for 30" resolution too
Pastrami Linden: Vicero, there is, but not for two releases
Funk Schnook: is there anything in particular we can look forward to in the next release?
Vicero Lambert: ok
Pastrami Linden: Funk - fixed bugs ;)
Hevenz Vansant: woot
Pastrami Linden: you'l have to wait for the Release Notes to see them all
Pastrami Linden: we're putting the finishing touches on it
Hevenz Vansant: when do you expect to have another viewer release
Pastrami Linden: by end of week
Torley Linden: Hevenz, see above.
Torley Linden: :)
Hevenz Vansant: nice!
Pastrami Linden: yep
Torley Linden: WindLight updates are coming pretty quickly.
Torley Linden: We know how much you wanna see this fixed fast...
Torley Linden: *things
Torley Linden: so it makes sense.
Hevenz Vansant: yeah yeah sorry was fighting off that homo griefer again so i couldnt pay to much attention torley :p
Torley Linden: :O
Pastrami Linden: alright all, anyone else?
Hevenz Vansant: yes one more question, just how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?:)
Sascha Vandyke: lool
Torley Linden: Hahaha...
Hevenz Vansant: :p
Torley Linden: I tried to answer that once... ate too many tootsie pops.
Jeremy Linden: I think we're still testing that one in QA.
Hevenz Vansant: lmaoooo
Runitai Linden: what do you mean? A sugar or prim tootsie pop?
Pastrami Linden: ask Owl Linden
Hevenz Vansant: a havok 1 or 4 tootsie pop
Runitai Linden: sculpted or linked set?
Hevenz Vansant: lmao
Pastrami Linden: alrght guys, I gotta jet
Pastrami Linden: thanks all!
Pastrami Linden: happy lighting!
Runitai Linden: african or european?
Hevenz Vansant: take care pas
Aki Shichiroji: Thanks for the office hours :)
Pastrami Linden: yep!
Torley Linden: Take care everyone, thanks for being with us!
Torley Linden: I gotta go too.
Lovecraft Petrichor: Thanks Pastrami, and the rest of your clan
Sascha Vandyke: byye
BigPapi Linden: Later everyone!
Hevenz Vansant: tc torley
BigPapi Linden: Thanks for coming to the office hours!
Vicero Lambert: :)
Lovecraft Petrichor: I like that you guys have these
Runitai Linden: when did things start taking so long to delete?
