[12:03] Yuzuru Jewell: Hello, Andrew.

[12:03] Andrew Linden: Hello.

[12:03] Kitto Flora: Hello Andrew and Simon

[12:03] Simon Linden: Hello everyone ... I can get started with the rollout news

[12:04] Simon Linden: The main channel was updated this morning with the code that was on the RC channels. So we now have a rare moment (one day) when the grid is almost entirely teh same version

[12:05] Simon Linden: The RCs will be updated with a new version tomorrow that has a bug fix for a server crash that was introduced a version or two ago ... no other changes

[12:05] Nalates Urriah: What part wouldn't be the same?

[12:05] Tiberious Neruda: so does this mean the whole grid now has materials ready for a viewer to see them?

[12:05] TankMaster Finesmith: almost?

[12:05] Simon Linden: There are a few special regions, Nal -- Linden Realms used to be different. I"m not sure which ones still are, but it's only a few special cases

[12:06] Nalates Urriah: Aah. OK. I forgot about those special places.

[12:06] Simon Linden: Yes Tiberious - the materials code is grid-wide now

[12:06] Kitto Flora: Does that fix the crash thats been around for several months = like maybe 10?

[12:06] Simon Linden: I haven't heard about much usage of that, however, so once that project viewer is out and people use it, I wouldn't be surprised if we have some server-side things to fix

[12:06] Andrew Linden: There is one little-known micro channel "Second Life RC LCW" not sure what LCW stands for, but that channel only has about 160 regions on it

[12:06] Tiberious Neruda: alright :3

[12:07] Simon Linden: I think those are the "Wilderness" ones

[12:07] Tiberious Neruda: now all we need is a viewer that can -see- materials >:3

[12:07] Tiberious Neruda: (and that was this update, right?)

[12:08] Simon Linden: yeah, I haven't heard about the schedule for that ... there should be a project viewer soon, for whatever "soon" means

[12:08] Andrew Linden: I think server-side materials was promoted last week to the main channel

[12:08] Tiberious Neruda: ah

[12:08] Andrew Linden: I accidentally merged it into my interestlist stuff

[12:08] Whirly Fizzle: When it stops crashing :D

[12:08] Jonathan Yap: I do not arrived underground any more when I TP to Hippotropolis -- was a fix for that issue put out?

[12:08] Andrew Linden: and it was easier to leave it in place than to pull it out

[12:08] Simon Linden: lol Whirly - yeah, we'd like to stop that :P

[12:09] Simon Linden: I don't know about that fix, Jonathan - but if you have a bug number I can look it up

[12:09] Andrew Linden: Jonathan, I don't know what the underground arrival bug was, so dunno what fixed it.

[12:09] Whirly Fizzle: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-1280

[12:10] Lucia Nightfire: lol

[12:10] Andrew Linden: Simon, was that fixed in a maintenance project?

[12:10] Simon Linden: brb - phone

[12:10] Kennylex Luckless: Bug tracker gave me a "Permission Violation".

[12:10] Qie Niangao: So... actually, is the LSL interface for server-side materials in place? I mean, could we already load-up some normalmap and specularmap prim parameters so they'll be showing right away when the viewer is out?

[12:11] Andrew Linden: Jonathan, when you arrive underground... can your avatar move around? or are you stuck at the origin (0,0,0) at southwest corner?

[12:11] Andrew Linden: Qie, yes I believe so.

[12:11] Kitto Flora: Cant see that bug - jira's been broken for months

[12:11] TankMaster Finesmith: most people cant read bugs, but lindens can, kennylex

[12:11] Jonathan Yap: I am stuck at <x,y,0> for several seconds until I get pushed up

[12:11] Qie Niangao: Thanks Andrew... now to guess the parameter constants. :p

[12:11] Kennylex Luckless: Oh.

[12:11] Jonathan Yap: but today that has not been happening to me

[12:11] Andrew Linden: Hrm... ok so doesn't sound like an interestlist bug specifically.

[12:12] Andrew Linden: There was a similar interestlist bug that would put your avatar at the origin, and you couldn't appear to move

[12:12] Jonathan Yap: yes, this is/was a different issue

[12:12] Simon Linden: yeah, that bug supposedly isn't fixed yet

[12:12] Andrew Linden: however if you did move around other people could see you moving where your avatar had actually arrived.

[12:12] Andrew Linden: Ok, so the fact that Jonathan hasn't seen it today is just luck.

[12:13] Nalates Urriah: Qui, ask Kelly. Last I heard there was going to be no LSL for materials until phse 2 pass.

[12:13] Qie Niangao: *ouch*.

[12:13] Andrew Linden: Kelly can't make user group today, btw.

[12:13] Tiberious Neruda: I'm curious what it is that caused the avatar I'm wearing to break... it used to fade color seamlessly, but now it only changes when the eyes close (a material being made opaque and then alpha). Now, this -is- a linked object showing, but I want to know why it broke in the first place more than anything else...

[12:14] Andrew Linden: Tiberious, that is curious. It sounds like an interestlist bug -- might be my fault.

[12:14] Tiberious Neruda: it also works like it should if I rez it out

[12:14] Andrew Linden: These are attachments to the avatar?

[12:14] Whirly Fizzle: Does it use llSetAlpha?

[12:14] Tiberious Neruda: yes. Rigged mesh attachments

[12:15] Tiberious Neruda: umm, I've tried all sorts of different things to try to get it to work

[12:15] Andrew Linden: Tiberious, are you able to demo it NOT working right now for us?

[12:15] Tiberious Neruda: SetLinkPrimitiveParamsFast

[12:15] Tiberious Neruda: hang on

[12:15] Tiberious Neruda: let me rez a copy so you can see what it -should- look like

[12:16] Motor Loon: fades fine on my screen

[12:16] Tiberious Neruda: the rezzed one does

[12:16] Motor Loon: aah

[12:16] Tiberious Neruda: but the worn one does NOT

[12:16] Qie Niangao: It's trying to make you use an animated texture for the color, instead of setting the color directly. :p

[12:16] Motor Loon: the worn is supposed to do the same

[12:17] Tiberious Neruda: the color is set via llSetLinkColor, I believe

[12:17] Tiberious Neruda: yes

[12:17] Andrew Linden: Interesting, if you hit CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + U you can see all the terse updates they generate

[12:17] Tiberious Neruda: now...

[12:17] Tiberious Neruda: I -did- make a workaround version since I had the material slots left

[12:17] Andrew Linden: and both seem to be generating at the same rate

[12:17] Whirly Fizzle: Oh, could it be https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-1048 ?

[12:17] Whirly Fizzle: llSetLinkPrimitiveParamsFast does not work on single mesh object, only after selecting it in edit mode changes the texture/color inworld

[12:18] Simon Linden: yeah, I see steady updates from the rezzed one, not from the AV

[12:18] Tiberious Neruda: the workaround one (as the rigged mesh is the root) DOES work

[12:18] Simon Linden: lol, that thing is using bandwidth :P

[12:18] Andrew Linden: Huh... now the worn attachments are working

[12:18] Tiberious Neruda: yes

[12:18] Andrew Linden: and I don't see a stead stream of updates

[12:18] Tiberious Neruda: this is a workaround version

[12:18] Tiberious Neruda: using only one mesh

[12:19] Andrew Linden: How does it change color? rotating texture?

[12:19] Tiberious Neruda: umm, llSetColor on this one I'm wearing

[12:19] Nalates Urriah: I see the worn one changing but not sending up the blue dots.... 3.4.6 (270268)

[12:19] Qie Niangao: huh. wonder why no updates

[12:19] Tiberious Neruda: hmmm

[12:20] Tiberious Neruda: the worn one is just one mesh, while the rezzed one is two

[12:20] Lares Carter: I think they are showing up at <0,0,0> in the region instead? At least there is a constant stream of blue dots.

[12:20] Andrew Linden: I believe llSetColor() should generate a "terse" update (with blue update sprites)

[12:20] Andrew Linden: Oh right... I forgot about that bug

[12:20] Andrew Linden: yeah, attachment updates show up at the origin.

[12:20] Tiberious Neruda: it's actually 3

[12:20] Andrew Linden: That is a viewer-side bug.

[12:20] Tiberious Neruda: one for each possible form

[12:21] Tiberious Neruda: the one I'm wearing, though, is only one mesh

[12:21] Andrew Linden: Tiberious, the sonic avatar color changes broke with a server-side update? Last week?

[12:21] Tiberious Neruda: I can't pin down exactly when it did

[12:22] Simon Linden: If it was in the interest list code, you might have seen in earlier depending on the reigon

[12:22] Tiberious Neruda: I don't wear it often, but it has been a pain for... at least a week

[12:22] Tiberious Neruda: maybe more

[12:22] Andrew Linden: Ok, well it could be interestlist related.

[12:22] Tiberious Neruda: wait a second

[12:22] Andrew Linden: Perhaps you could give me a copy to test with.

[12:23] Tiberious Neruda: oh hell

[12:23] Andrew Linden: I'm currently trying to put together an update for the interestlist work, and would like to get some bug fixes into it.

[12:23] Tiberious Neruda: okay

[12:23] Tiberious Neruda: I'll need to include some instructions to test with

[12:23] Tiberious Neruda: but I can put that together for ya

[12:23] Kennylex Luckless: *omg, shall we see Addrew use an mesh ava*

[12:23] Andrew Linden: Will it work on aditi Tiberious?

[12:24] Motor Loon: speaking of interestlist, I see my report for BUG-1767 (Interestlist changes cause scripts in editing to go "out of range" if camera moves too far away ) got accepted... something to be aware of mabye, until it gets a fix... even though it's mabye not the "baddest-of-bugs"

[12:24] Andrew Linden: That is, does it have strange DRM that makes it only work on the main grid?

[12:24] Tiberious Neruda: I don't have the script there

[12:24] Andrew Linden: That's ok, I should be able to import it to my beta grid inventory.

[12:24] Tiberious Neruda: no DRM that I'm aware of. Just not sure I have the inventory moved over

[12:24] Tiberious Neruda: as long as you can migrate it, test all you like

[12:24] Andrew Linden: ok, if I have a copy here I can figure out how to import it.

[12:25] Tiberious Neruda: sure

[12:25] Kitto Flora: Andrew, Wengen has crashed 13 times in the last week, and often comes up 'with scripts disabled. Will this latest crash fix do anything for Wengen? If not- what is being done about Wengen Crashes?

[12:25] Simon Linden: Right Motor - the QA guys were able to reproduce that. I don't have a schedule for you but it should get some attention

[12:25] Motor Loon: no worries

[12:25] Tiberious Neruda: say... what's causing all these 'mesh error' pyramids to show up recently?

[12:25] Andrew Linden: Kitto, let me see if I can figure out *why* Wengen crashed...

[12:25] Motor Loon: seems if you have 512m of DD, it's not a big problem at all

[12:25] Motor Loon: atleast when I played with it earlier today

[12:26] Kitto Flora: DOWN at 2013-02-26T02:22:13.207476Z UTC. 6:22pm SL Time ,--- last crash

[12:26] Honza Noyes: Did today's main update roll break anything? Our place at Ryder Haven (entire sim is not showing meshes and we are unable to TP out of them sim, have to log out and log in again - https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-1800)

[12:26] Simon Linden: It's not supposed to break anything, Honza :P

[12:26] Tiberious Neruda: I just need to box up the items and pass 'em to ya

[12:27] Nalates Urriah: I've seen the mesh triangles error Tib sees a few times. Borrowdale had the problem yesterday for the Mesh meeting

[12:27] Andrew Linden: Hrm... Wengen crashed in the physics engine, trying to allocate memory.

[12:27] Simon Linden: Wengen has been hitting that one a lot

[12:27] Al Supercharge: if Jiras were more available I wouldn't be grazing here today

[12:27] Honza Noyes: @Simon: Just TP to the simulator <21,214,33> you will see. You will eventually get trapped in there.

[12:27] Andrew Linden: Simon, I don't recognize that crash mode. Do you or Kelly know more about it?

[12:28] Kelly Linden: Physics smackdowns

[12:28] Motor Loon: bake leak?

[12:28] Simon Linden: Honza - that problem looks to be isolated to that region, but it does seem to be in a bad state

[12:29] Honza Noyes: What can be done with it Simon?

[12:29] Kitto Flora: I believ its almost certainly griefer activity - but this has been going on for over 10 months. Now pushing 50 tickets filed. And still it crashes - often several times a day.

[12:29] Kelly Linden: Anrew: Wengen gets it a lot, and isn't alone. My best guess is just that the RCCS hasn't been touched for a while - since 2 havok upgrades and the addition of mesh and pathfinding and it needs a round of tweaks to get back into shape.

[12:30] Qie Niangao: Oh, Kelly, you're here. From earlier: Are there prim parameter constants for LSL setting/getting of normal- and specularmaps?

[12:30] Andrew Linden: Ok. We'll probably need some griefer content to test with.

[12:30] Simon Linden: well ... it looks like it's up and running now, has has been going for 4+ hours. I could restart it if you're still seeing issues

[12:30] Andrew Linden: We'll have to hunt the logs to see if we can figure out what might be triggering it.

[12:30] Meeter: Timecheck : User Group is half over

[12:31] Honza Noyes: I have been there 15 minutes ago and the issue still persists.

[12:31] Kelly Linden: Qie: If those are the new parameters of the materials project then no.

[12:31] Kitto Flora: No - Its up cause of tickets I filed.

[12:31] Kitto Flora: But likely it will be down again around 4pm

[12:31] Motor Loon: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-903

[12:31] Qie Niangao: Thanks, Kelly. I'll (pretend to) be patient for those.

[12:33] Andrew Linden: I've got some news about more interestlist work.

[12:33] Andrew Linden: I've got some changes that should make region scenery load faster (more correct really) upon first arrival

[12:33] Andrew Linden: via TP or login

[12:33] Kitto Flora: Yay!

[12:33] Andrew Linden: I'm trying to wrap these up today to get them into QA

[12:34] Simon Linden: OK Honza -- there are a few people there. DO you know if they all see the same problem?

[12:34] Motor Loon: scenery = objects or terrain or everything?

[12:34] Andrew Linden: but may try to track down a few minor bugs that have been reported

[12:34] Andrew Linden: and try to get that into the update as well

[12:34] Andrew Linden: scenery means objects Motor Loon

[12:34] Motor Loon: alrighty

[12:34] Andrew Linden: the terrain now shows up all at once when you first connect

[12:35] Andrew Linden: we used to cull the terrain patches based on where your camera was located

[12:35] Motor Loon: yeah much better like this

[12:35] Andrew Linden: but now (on all of the main grid) we just send all the terrain data at once

[12:35] Honza Noyes: @Simon: As far as I can tell, yes. I had this also confirmed on JIRA - BUG-1800

[12:35] Andrew Linden: I'll be interested to see if my new code makes the stuff at this location show up faster

[12:35] Tiberious Neruda: (just writing up a notecard for Andrew to test the bug out)

[12:36] Andrew Linden: often this big floor we're standing on is one of the last things to show up in my viewer

[12:36] Simon Linden: OK - I'll give it the 5-minute delayed restart, Honza

[12:36] Kitto Flora: Whats this 'new' ~30M jump on walking across some borders in some directions? Is that new with todays release? I think its an old bug thats re-appeared.

[12:37] Andrew Linden: This is the first I've heard of it.

[12:37] Lexbot Sinister: oh yes. I'm being slung 30 meters on every sim crossing, unless i crash.

[12:37] Simon Linden: Speaking of restarts, with the new update the "Region is restaring in 5 minutes" notices should now be more visible and in-your-face. Before they were kind of easy to miss

[12:37] Kitto Flora: Might be new with what just rolled out

[12:37] Honza Noyes: Thanks a lot Simon.

[12:38] Andrew Linden: Kitto, it is inconsistent?

[12:38] Kitto Flora: Happening in Le Tigre and Magnum

[12:38] Andrew Linden: Always in certain directions?

[12:38] Kitto Flora: No. Its 100% reliable

[12:38] Andrew Linden: Or sometimes in all directions?

[12:38] Motor Loon: (Tank - will this new region restarting notice still work with the Firestorm custom alerts for restarts?)

[12:38] Kitto Flora: Yep - always on going west, never on going east

[12:38] Nalates Urriah: A couple of times when I walked across region boundaries I sunk into the destination side waist deep then bounced out and up into the air a ways... several meters.

[12:39] Kitto Flora: Alwoas on going south, never on nort

[12:39] Kitto Flora: h

[12:39] TankMaster Finesmith: yes, monter

[12:39] TankMaster Finesmith: motor*

[12:39] Inusaito Kanya: Has color changed?

[12:39] TankMaster Finesmith: yes

[12:40] Andrew Linden: Kitto, when riding a vehicle? Or does it happen when walking across with an attachless avatar?

[12:40] Kitto Flora: Certainly just walking

[12:40] Simon Linden: Aur'a - you mean on those restart notices?

[12:40] Inusaito Kanya: Mhm

[12:40] TankMaster Finesmith: when nyx restarted the ssb region i was on yesterday, i noticed the ding still worked and the message was the same orenge as depicted in LL's demo pics

[12:40] Honza Noyes: I wanted to ask, there was a project to embed LSL features more dynamically into the viewer as there is still llCastRay and PRIM_POS_LOCAL missing in highlighting.

[12:40] Kitto Flora: and slowly, creep across border and *wham* you are 30m into new sim

[12:40] Andrew Linden: ok I'll try it out

[12:40] Kitto Flora: Riding vehicle - have not had time to tset

[12:40] TankMaster Finesmith: at least on the default firestorm gray skin

[12:41] Jonathan Yap: Honza, that project is still in the works

[12:41] Kelly Linden: Honza: That is being driven by Oz and opensource efforts as far as I'm aware.

[12:41] Jonathan Yap: I think Ima is working on it

[12:41] Honza Noyes: Ah, okay.

[12:41] Simon Linden: The type changed ... I forget the names but it's one that will be in the center of the screen instead of the upper left, where it would auto-hide after a bit

[12:42] Simon Linden: upper right, I mean

[12:42] Whirly Fizzle: Modal dialog?

[12:42] Inusaito Kanya: Alert or alertmodal versus notify

[12:42] Simon Linden: right

[12:43] TankMaster Finesmith: oh, its an alert model now?

[12:43] TankMaster Finesmith: humm, maybe the SSB resgions dont have that new code then

[12:43] Al Supercharge: BROKEN: POINT LIGHT image projection ( edit/features/light) the prim keeps the first texture dragged to it and can never be subsequently changed.(Viewer 3.4.5) If I could JIRA search on "light texture prim " and not get every jira with "prim" in SUMMARY AND "light" in summary etc .... I might not be here !!!

[12:44] TankMaster Finesmith: thats a viewer issue, Al, not a simulator issue

[12:44] Tiberious Neruda: hmm... speaking of projectors, I wonder why we can't use media as the projected texture...

[12:44] Al Supercharge: I think it becomes a prim property ?

[12:45] Kelly Linden: AI: can you not do advanced searches? https://jira.secondlife.com/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?reset=true&jqlQuery=summary+~+"light"+AND+summary+~+"texture"+AND+summary+~+"prim"

[12:46] Kelly Linden: (warning: may have no results)

[12:46] Motor Loon: confirm, dragging to the slot dont update it - while opening the selector and choose a texture does seem to work (for me atleast, using FS)

[12:46] Qie Niangao: heh, I never knew you could drag to the slot to begin with.

[12:47] Motor Loon: (for the lazy people haha)

[12:47] Jonathan Yap: lol, who is the hacker?

[12:47] Simon Linden grins

[12:47] Kelly Linden: That just showed up in chat for me.

[12:47] Kelly Linden: Did we expect something else?

[12:48] Inusaito Kanya: That's only in chat... no name...

[12:48] Al Supercharge: Kelly - -thanks if only AND was the default for regular searches ( not OR)

[12:48] Simon Linden: yeah, I think I hit the wrong service

[12:48] Whirly Fizzle: I only saw that in local

[12:48] Kelly Linden: AI: There should be an option to switch to advanced mode which lets you do searches with a query like syntax.

[12:49] Simon Linden: how about that one?

[12:49] Inusaito Kanya: Top right

[12:49] Tiberious Neruda: o.o

[12:49] Kelly Linden: that one was top right, got a toast etc.

[12:49] TankMaster Finesmith: shows in upper right notice, with OK button

[12:49] Jonathan Yap: top right, faded, slightly yellow

[12:49] Motor Loon: nice... but tank - it didnt activate my custom sound in FS ;-(

[12:49] Whirly Fizzle: Oh thats way better

[12:49] Tiberious Neruda: right

[12:49] Tiberious Neruda: it used to use the 'can't click this' sound

[12:49] Simon Linden: Tjat

[12:49] Simon Linden: That's interesting about the first one ... I need to check why that was a different type

[12:49] TankMaster Finesmith: i didnt have my headphones on, so i didnt notice the sound or not

[12:49] Tiberious Neruda: that kinda low-pitched 'twang'

[12:50] Whirly Fizzle: Hmm its not modal though, it poofs into the notification chicklet

[12:50] Whirly Fizzle: So we can all still get disconnected :P

[12:50] Inusaito Kanya: It's a notify for me..

[12:50] Tiberious Neruda: I have chiclets (hate, hate HATE!!!) in lower-right, and showed up there

[12:50] Simon Linden: yeah, I was mistaken about that ... it's been a while since I wrote that code

[12:50] Nalates Urriah: Yeah, mine disappear into the chiclet...

[12:50] Jonathan Yap: Simon, does the message string end with a "\" or some other similar signalling character? I thought that is partially what the viewer used to determine how to present the message

[12:51] Whirly Fizzle: Is there any way you can make that notification not disappear until you click ok?

[12:51] Simon Linden: No, there's not special character there, Jonathan

[12:51] Nalates Urriah: Be even nicer if it appeared and started counting down...

[12:51] Kitto Flora: Notification stays there for me :)

[12:51] Jonathan Yap: I looked at the viewer code a long time ago about this one--I think the message was missing some special trailing character

[12:52] Inusaito Kanya: Notification stays for me...

[12:52] Motor Loon: can you send it out again, I didnt really notice

[12:52] Whirly Fizzle: Too late! You went down with the region ;)

[12:52] Motor Loon: sniff...

[12:53] Inusaito Kanya giggles!!

[12:53] Tiberious Neruda: yeah, no sound effect there

[12:53] Inusaito Kanya: 12345

[12:53] Simon Linden: For the restarts, the code that triggers it is a special case ... so it's now using a different type than before

[12:53] TankMaster Finesmith: no ding, and is that an actual restart message?

[12:53] Lexbot Sinister: oh actually that notice was way way less noticable than the old one

[12:53] Jonathan Yap: wow, that was strange, I am on 2 viewers, one showed 54321 and the other 12345

[12:53] Lexbot Sinister: i didn't see it even

[12:53] Whirly Fizzle: No ding here Tank

[12:53] Simon Linden: no, I'm triggering it with the mechanism the restarts use

[12:53] Motor Loon: mabye its because its not a "real" one?

[12:53] Whirly Fizzle: Poofed int chicklet again.

[12:53] Qie Niangao: fades into the chicklet for me on 3.4.5 (270263)

[12:53] Whirly Fizzle: *into

[12:54] Simon Linden: Jonathan - that is because on one of those viewers, it has the message in the message.xml files

[12:54] Simon Linden: The other doesn't

[12:54] TankMaster Finesmith: so the viewer should see it as a actual restart message, correct?

[12:54] Inusaito Kanya: (I have no chicklets) Never fades for me.

[12:54] Kitto Flora hates gum.

[12:54] Inusaito Kanya: No sound plays, though

[12:54] Object: Hello, Avatar!

[12:54] Whirly Fizzle: ahh needs a viewer update too then?

[12:54] TankMaster Finesmith: sounds like it

[12:54] Nalates Urriah: In 3.4.6 (270268) it vanishes into chiclet

[12:54] Simon Linden: No, a viewer update isn't needed

[12:54] Whirly Fizzle: Hmmm

[12:54] Inusaito Kanya: It's translated, though

[12:55] Simon Linden: But if you have a new viewer and the message is localized, it will show up in the correct language

[12:55] Simon Linden: otherwise it uses the English the server sends

[12:55] Tiberious Neruda: yeah

[12:55] TankMaster Finesmith: in FS, when you get a region restart message, it also plays a sound, but im not hearing the sound now

[12:55] Tiberious Neruda: the restart notice used to play that sound there

[12:55] Whirly Fizzle: Me either Tank.

[12:55] Tiberious Neruda: the 'InvalidOp' one

[12:55] Whirly Fizzle: I have mine set to play a claxon :D

[12:55] Tiberious Neruda: heheh

[12:55] Meeter: Timecheck : User Group is almost over

[12:56] Motor Loon: I recorded myself shouting "ALARM RESTART IMMINENT" and use as the sound played... really works wonders for getting attention

[12:56] Simon Linden: Tank - I'd guess that's a viewer tweak, where it detects that special message and plays the sound. I think I remember that code

[12:56] Nalates Urriah: Is there a debug setting for the sound that is played?

[12:56] Simon Linden: The message type and tag changed, so it's probably not catching it any more

[12:56] Whirly Fizzle: Its in prefs oin Firestorm Nalates

[12:56] Inusaito Kanya: <notification icon="notify.tga" name="RegionRestartSeconds" priority="high" sound="UISndAlert" type="notify">

Region is restarting in [SECONDS] seconds.

If you remain in this region you will be logged out.

</notification>

[12:56] Whirly Fizzle: Im not sure if only FS has it

[12:56] Nalates Urriah: Well... FS is just coolio....

[12:56] Tiberious Neruda: yeah, Firestorm has it as 'UISndRegionRestart' in Debug settings

[12:57] Whirly Fizzle: Better tell Pantera thats broken then heh

[12:57] Motor Loon: wonderful idea, which LL should grab for the official btw

[12:57] Jonathan Yap: the viewer also knows about ReginRestartMinutes

[12:57] Nalates Urriah: Yes... putting that in SL Viewer would be a big help to many of us.

[12:57] TankMaster Finesmith: it was something added to try and bring more attention tot he fact the region is restarting

[12:57] Simon Linden: Right, there are actually 2 messages used during the restart countdown

[12:57] Tiberious Neruda: it defaults to the same UUID as 'UISndInvalidOp'

[12:58] Tiberious Neruda: whish is the sound you hear if you click the box

[12:58] Simon Linden: Honza - "Ryder Haven" is back up, so can you update that bug report later on if it's magically fixed or not?

[12:58] TankMaster Finesmith: lol

[12:58] Tiberious Neruda: spamckicking isn't too cool

[12:59] Motor Loon: ..only the first 5 minutes atleast...

[12:59] Tiberious Neruda: I just did that to demo the sound FS users heard with the old restart notices

[12:59] Jonathan Yap: I just checked the code, a system message starts with "/" and gets slightly different processing

[13:00] Jonathan Yap: the 3 cases are 2 restart types and everything else

[13:00] Simon Linden: That first one that was dumped into chat was sent with an un-used tag ... I'm surprised it behaved that way

[13:00] Meeter: Thank you for coming to the Server User Group

[13:01] Qie Niangao: Oh... question: does Operations get some notification if, during restarts, state isn't fully persisted before the sim halts?

[13:01] Simon Linden: I'm not sure about that, Qie

[13:02] Motor Loon: Is that what sometimes can cause a restarting region to sorta "rolback" on itself?

[13:02] Qie Niangao: I've seen more reports than I'd expect, of lost content at restarts.

[13:02] Simon Linden: ... but I was actually talking this morning with another developer that was working on that problem

[13:02] Qie Niangao: cool.

[13:02] Motor Loon: would be wonderful to have "fixed"

[13:02] Motor Loon: alot, espicially new residents, can be caught by that

[13:02] Simon Linden: Yes Motor ... if the last state isn't saved properly, it will use an earlier one, so changes may be lost

[13:03] Lexbot Sinister: Server state saves, i thought they were "secret" But it would be good to know at least how often they happen

[13:03] Lucia Nightfire: would be nice to have both implicit and excpliti region restarts nto have 30,60 or more mintues of server time loss, heh

[13:03] Motor Loon: loosing the new parcel they just setup with funiture they just bought... well... could cause a new resident to kick Second Life and never come back in worst case ;-)

[13:03] Simon Linden: oh - I had one other bit of news ... there was some maintenance work done on the Aditi grid inventory database. Hopefully things will be much better behaved now

[13:03] Kitto Flora: .. and old debug settings come back?

[13:03] Whirly Fizzle: OOh!

[13:03] MartinRJ Fayray: Kelly can you please take a look at my fix for bug-840 and tell me what you think?

[13:03] Qie Niangao: cool!

[13:03] Duckie Dickins: woot!

[13:03] Jonathan Yap: was that work this morning? I could not sign in then to Aditi

[13:04] MartinRJ Fayray: Ou he's gone

[13:04] Whirly Fizzle: So if we had the inventory bug on aditi, we should reset passwords again or is that not necessary?

[13:04] Duckie Dickins: Kelly ran off to lunch I bet. :)

[13:04] Tiberious Neruda: I know there were problems with updating inventory to beta grid, so that's why I never did for some time

[13:04] TankMaster Finesmith: kelly left, marton :P

[13:04] Whirly Fizzle: My avi is totally hosed on Aditi

[13:04] Kitto Flora: Last few times I went to Aditi nothing in Inv would rez.

[13:05] Jonathan Yap: hmmz, I cannot log in still, it just hangs at Logging in...

[13:05] Simon Linden: well, I know better than to promise anything, but try it again Whirly and hopefully it's better

[13:05] Whirly Fizzle: Cool. I certianly will

[13:05] Whirly Fizzle: SVC-7727 is a B**** lol

[13:06] Simon Linden: I believe the import after changing passwords is still there, so that should trigger it. Today a bunch of un-used test accounts were cleared out, and the databases optimized. So we're hoping they work a lot better

[13:06] Jonathan Yap: Would someone do a quick test of logging in to Aditi?

[13:07] Duckie Dickins: reloading my big inventory would probably break aditi again. :D

[13:07] Lexbot Sinister: i was there an hour ago

[13:07] Motor Loon: lemmi give it a try

[13:07] Jonathan Yap: what region worked for you?

[13:07] Inara Pey: Trying now

[13:07] Motor Loon: yeah, it work in fine to SunshineTest

[13:07] Kitto Flora tries Adidt - No can log in "inv system currently unavailable"

[13:07] Nalates Urriah: There was discussion of getting more data storage for ADITI... has anyone heard what happened with that?

[13:07] Lares Carter: No problem to login here. Region was SkyBeam.

[13:08] Simon Linden: Yes Nal - it turned into "clean out the garbage first"

[13:08] Motor Loon: in beta/morris now too, looks working

[13:08] Nalates Urriah: So, is there an automated clear unsed accounts or is it manual only?

[13:08] Simon Linden: ah, I know what's going on ... not all the inventory systems are back up. So it's luck of which one your account is on

[13:08] Duckie Dickins: are they going to be auto purging data on a regular basis to make sure storage space is available?

[13:08] Jonathan Yap: eta Simon?

[13:09] Motor Loon: (guess what I'm doing... [13:08] Maestro Linden pushed you with a script. [13:08] Maestro Linden pushed you with a script. [13:08] Maestro Linden pushed you with a script.)

[13:09] Inara Pey: Wow.. slow but connected to the Sunshine regions

[13:09] Simon Linden: I don't know, Jonathan ... I'd guess a couple of hours from now, since at least one system is done.

[13:09] Kitto Flora: bouncing

[13:09] Motor Loon: yup

[13:09] Simon Linden ARs Motor

[13:09] Tiberious Neruda: on a trampoline, i'm guessing

[13:09] Motor Loon: hehe

[13:10] Tiberious Neruda: uh

[13:10] Tiberious Neruda: wouldn't you be ARing Maestro?

[13:10] Inara Pey: Any updates on Baker's large object rezzing work?

[13:10] Tiberious Neruda: since it's his script that's pushing Motor

[13:11] Simon Linden: yes, Tiberious, but he just deletes them

[13:11] Andrew Linden: There is one known bug in his code Inara. He's working on a fix today.

[13:11] Tiberious Neruda: lolololololololololololol

[13:11] Motor Loon: Seems only fair I get AR'd for using the trampoline unauthorized outside office hours....

[13:11] Tiberious Neruda: ROFL!

[13:11] Inara Pey: Thx Andrew

[13:11] Simon Linden: I need to run -- thanks everyone for coming today and the good chat

[13:12] Nalates Urriah: Thx Lindens

[13:12] Jonathan Yap: thank you Lindens

[13:12] Qie Niangao: Thanks Andrew, Simon, Baker -- appreciate the extra time. Have fun everybody.

[13:12] Andrew Linden: Cheers.

[13:12] Motor Loon: Alrighty... off to make 2nd dinner... have fun all

[13:12] Whirly Fizzle: Thanks Lindens :)

[13:12] Lares Carter: Thanks for the meeting.

[13:12] Inara Pey: Thanks again

[13:12] Simon Linden: see y'all next time

[13:12] TankMaster Finesmith: have a good week, simon and andrew

[13:12] Yuzuru Jewell: Thank you!

[13:12] Kennylex Luckless: Rez a dinner for me to ans send TP... or is that function not in RL yet?
