You can change the default position of the camera behind you, personally I like looking forward instead of down.

Changing the default camera position in Firestorm, requires you access the Debug Settings. Be absolutely sure what you edit in here as it can be hard to find out what you did wrong if you change a parameter and forget its name. Now if you follow the guide here, and only do as mentioned here, you can always come back here to see what you changed (and it is easy to reset using SHIFT+ESC SHIFT+ESC).

Preferences -> Search "Advanced"* -> Advanced tab -> Show Advanced Menu

Advanced -> Show Debug Settings

There are 2 settings you might want to look at, search for "OffsetRearView"* to find both.

These settings update as you change them, so can just play around with them.

Note if you are typing in the field you need to hit ENTER or remove the input focus from the field (fx by clicking in another field) before the changes take effect.

'''CameraOffsetRearView''' this is the position of the camera itself compared to your Avatar.
X: 0 is inside your avatar, I generally use -3 to -4, close enough to not get stuck in too many walls, and far enough your Avatar does not fill the entire screen.
Y: 0 is behind Avatar, - puts the camera to the right, + to the left.
Z: 0 is at your pelvis, - is down, + is up.

'''FocusOffsetRearView''' this is the point the camera looks at,
= Avatar Complexity =
X: Is behind / in front. 0 is inside your avatar, - behind and + is in front.
Y: Is sideways, 0 center, - right, + left.
Z: IS up and down, 0 is pelvis height.

Remember ESC ESC moves the camera to default, SHIFT+ESC SHIFT+ESC changes your settings to default and moves the camera.
