[07:00] Oz Linden: Hi all
[07:01] Oz Linden: quiet Monday morning....
[07:01] yes it is
[07:01] Good to see you are still having an OH
[07:02] Oz Linden: was there some doubt?
[07:03] Daniel Voyager: hiya
[07:03] We heard about an OH policy change on Friday
[07:03] NullSubset Burner: a good monday moring folks:)
[07:03] oh policy chane?
[07:03] Oz Linden: what did you hear and from where did you hear it?
[07:04] that is what mi wondering
[07:04] Oz Linden: /me loves hearing how rumors go...
[07:04] it was reported from a Friday OH, whoever has one late in the day, something along the lines of "this will be the last OH for a while"
[07:04] Apparently you Lindens have to go to traning in order to have an OH now
[07:05] Daniel Voyager: Michael Linden or Andrew Linden OHs?
[07:05] I think it was Michael, as I learned about it at Andrew's
[07:05] Andrew said he would continue on with his
[07:05] Oz Linden: There is a set of changes to how they'll be done, but rest asssured that they'll still happen
[07:06] Oz Linden: I'm not sure when those changes are really supposed to take effect - that may have been jumping the gun a bit
[07:06] Do we have a sprint planning meeting today?
[07:07] Oz Linden: I believe so, yes
[07:07] Oz Linden: so if you'd like any help prepping proposals, now is a very good time
[07:07] Oz Linden: By the way, before we get into that....
[07:07] Oz Linden: I keep stats on open source contributors and contributions for each release
[07:08] Oz Linden: 2.5 once again has more than its predecesor... that's 3 increases in a row. Thank you and congratulations
[07:08] I hope it continues to creep up.
[07:09] Oz Linden: Well, obviously so do I
[07:10] I was giving some thought as to how to recruit more people but couldn't come up with any good ideas
[07:10] Oz Linden: ~ 20% of the committers in 2.5 were open devs, contributing over 8% of the commits
{ 218.314, 100.088, 21.7982 } in region Hippotropolis because your objects are not allowed on this parcel.
[07:11] Jonathan i would think just the fact that there is more going in from us in the open source community that is actualy in the main stream viewer would help with recuting more people back to working on viewer development
{ 219.243, 100.007, 21.7788 } in region Hippotropolis because your objects are not allowed on this parcel.
[07:12] there are two sources of contributors: ones already working on TPVs and ones just starting out
[07:12] I was wondering how to get more of the ones starting out type
[07:13] Oz Linden: ... and ones that did something a long time ago that's still in jira, unfortunately
[07:13] I saw you took in a patch from a 4 digit vwr jira
[07:13] Oz Linden: well, we've got a couple of new names here today
[07:13] Oz Linden: exactly
[07:13] Oz Linden: small, but real
[07:14] Oz Linden: there are 90+ more issues like that to check :-(
[07:14] thickbrick came up with a small patch for an annoying issue yesterday; hopefully he contributes more in the future
[07:14] Oz Linden: which was that?
[07:14] PNG images which specify "background color" lose alpha layer when imported.
[07:15] It would be great to have that moved into storm-nnnn. I think I wasted 6+ hours over the course of two days recently because of that
[07:15] that is an upload issue and lets hope it dose not break any of the new kdu code even though we can not test it
[07:16] Oz Linden: going to want to see if that's still true in viewer-development - both the viewers he mentions are before Merov's KDU update
{ 219.351, 100.119, 21.8225 } in region Hippotropolis because your objects are not allowed on this parcel.
[07:17] t check to see if the jira has this https://bitbucket.org/thickbrick/viewer-development_vwr-24420/
[07:17] that might be one for merov to test
[07:17]
[07:18] Oz Linden: yes, probably.
[07:18] Oz Linden: actually, it sounds like anyone who wants to spend L$10 could test it
[07:18] You can test for free on aditi
[07:19] Oz Linden: good point
[07:19] oz how is the investigation on the build farm equipment going?
[07:19] Oz Linden: I really have not gotten started
[07:20] Oz Linden: I've got a meeting Wednesday with the group that does the TeamCity stuff
[07:20] i did a little paoking for the mac os side and it looks like about 3k$US per unit
[07:20] but that is brand new from apple directly
[07:20] Oz Linden: that was for low end tower systems?
[07:21]
[07:21] Oz Linden: send me a link, please
[07:21] let me find it and ill email it to you oz
[07:21] Oz Linden: I was kind of swamped last week with other things
[07:21] Oz Linden: thx
[07:22] Oz Linden: So... autobuild
[07:22] dose RL custom computer desinging
[07:22] Oz Linden: Some of the libraries are starting to move out to bitbucket
[07:23] Oz Linden: note that those are not the same layout as the ones that are currently installed by install.xml
[07:24] Oz Linden: there's a way to convert the layout on install... if you are dying to use one of the new libs, let me know and I'll find you the magic incantation for that
[07:24] NullSubset Burner: lol:)
[07:25] Oz Linden: One other bit of old news finally done... we've made a decision on open sourcing the javascript for maps - it's to be released under an MIT-style license
[07:25] Oz Linden: so that annoying issue is done...
{ 219.633, 100.025, 21.7382 } in region Hippotropolis because your objects are not allowed on this parcel.
[07:28] oz so how long befor they fully convert to useing VS2010 on windows?
[07:29] Oz Linden: The team responsible for that is making a plan this sprint, so we should have something like a schedule in a couple of weeks
[07:30] kewl cant wait will like being able to use some thing besides VS2005
[07:30] Oz Linden: Once we have all the open libs out and start using autobuild for the viewer, it should be possible to begin doing some of that work in open development
[07:30] Oz Linden: or rather, it will be easier than it is now
[07:31] Cummere Mayo: ao off
[07:31] Cummere Mayo: /me yawns and waves hello
[07:31] it took me 24 hours to rebuild qtwebkit for vs2008
[07:32] pluse boost will hwve to be updated
[07:32] Oz Linden: just the build time? or did that include debugging the build
[07:32] just the build time
[07:32] Oz Linden: wow
[07:33] Oz Linden: let's hear it for prebuilt libraries....
[07:33] Wolfpup has the slowest computer
[07:33] Cummere Mayo: jeeze ><
[07:33] it kept hitting the /Zm limit so i would have to restart it
{ 219.927, 100.027, 22.6674 } in region Hippotropolis because your objects are not allowed on this parcel.
[07:33] Jonathan i would love to have one of the newer i5's
[07:34] but at the time i also had less physiacl memory as well
{ 219.589, 100.221, 21.849 } in region Hippotropolis because your objects are not allowed on this parcel.
[07:34] now my board is maxed out @ 4GB
{ 218.693, 100.03, 21.8206 } in region Hippotropolis because your objects are not allowed on this parcel.
[07:36] Oz Linden: Has anyone here looked at the new profiles ?
[07:36] Cummere Mayo: not yet. im kinda scared too
[07:36] yes i have been playing with them over the week end
{ 219.77, 100.003, 21.7017 } in region Hippotropolis because your objects are not allowed on this parcel.
[07:36] I was not aware there were new profiles
[07:36] You mean in the viewer?
[07:36] Oz Linden: I think they'll get some tweeking during the 2.5 beta
[07:36] Jonathan there web api based now and you can ope mutile profiles
[07:36] lufpleh Obstreperous: on web yes, very nice, in viewer it just crashed me
[07:37] Oz Linden: Well, they are now a web page even within the viewer
[07:37] Maybe that is why Torley doesn't show up in search any more
[07:37] EzY McAlpine: I have, they people seem to be worried that the profile no longer lists how long they have been in SL for.
[07:37] Oz Linden: which platform/version lufpleh ?
[07:37] Cummere Mayo: I hate that the profiles are all on the web ... no privacy. and still sfaik no way to tell the minors from the adult. also no age
[07:37] lufpleh Obstreperous: yes I seen pics on Kirstens site, but in development viewer instant crash
[07:37] lufpleh Obstreperous: windows XP pack 3
[07:38] Oz Linden: were you in this account? (I can look for a crash record)
[07:38] lufpleh Obstreperous: someones raised a jira and its been moved to showstopper by product engine
[07:39] lufpleh Obstreperous: yes,, shoul dbe at least 2 or 3 crash logs
[07:39] Oz Linden: Some profile info has been on the web for a long time, Curmmere
[07:39] Cummere the will not pull up easily, if you try to goto them via the web you actualy have to log into SL to get them to fuly pull up pluse there is the option to not connect then with things like facebook and such
[07:39] Oz Linden: I'll take a look after this meeting, thanks
[07:40] Cummere Mayo: i know. oz. i dont want mine on.
[07:40] Cummere Mayo: but my only choice with v2 is take them off web AND search
[07:40] lufpleh Obstreperous: the other thing with new Profiles that seems to be makin the news is the missing Yearfor Sl join date
[07:41] Oz Linden: I got a report of a problem with the LInkedIn connector (which I had not known existed) and took a look at it.... not clear what it does.
[07:41] Oz Linden: Yes, that's the hot topic of the day...
[07:41] Cummere Mayo: >< its frightening you can connect your secondlife profile to linked in *shudders*
[07:41] It did not show my photo until I did a refresh and does not show my rezz year
[07:41] lufpleh Obstreperous: think the social identities links just add a button to the profile page, under Elsewher
[07:42] Oz Linden: don't know (yet) who owns that one
[07:42] EzY McAlpine: someone has already raised a jira? about it - https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-3486?
[07:44] Cummere Mayo: how the heck do i get rid of the facebook and twitter share and like options on my web profile?
[07:44] Cummere Mayo: thats really creepy they are still there..
[07:44] Cummere Mayo: especially since you can share other peoples profiles without their knowledge or permission
[07:44] Oz Linden: No idea
[07:45] lufpleh Obstreperous: Oz theres comments & stuff Re the Profile crash on Kirstens site http://www.kirstensviewer.com/Blog/128.html #comments might help
[07:45] Cummere they are options if you do not want to connect to your facebook or twiter then just do not selct those options
[07:45] Oz Linden: got it lufpleh... thanks
[07:45] Cummere Mayo: I dont see any options wolfpup
[07:45] Cummere Mayo: and i see links to share them on EVERY profile ive brought up so far
[07:46] Cummere Mayo: theres an add button but no remove button for them
[07:46] Oz Linden: I don't think those links actually do anything unless you own both accounts, Cummere
[07:47] Oz Linden: and they certainly don't do anything unless you press the button
[07:47] Oz Linden: But back to development..... anything that Snowstorm should include this sprint?
[07:48] Search option for Debug Settings
[07:48] Oz Linden: Debug settings?
[07:48] It would be nice to have a search option
[07:48] Oz Linden: that doesn't sound like something that affects many users (or one would hope not)
[07:48] Though you can do it via the wiki page
[07:48]
[07:48] Oz Linden: we don't really want to encourage people to use those
[07:49] advanced users use it to 'fine tune' the vierer
{ 218.544, 100.057, 21.7598 } in region Hippotropolis because your objects are not allowed on this parcel.
[07:49] I have vwr-24347 in CR I think
[07:49] EzY McAlpine: isn't that happening with https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/STORM-2
[#VWR-24347] Reversion in Copy3rdPartyLibs.cmake -- cannot find msvc* files using VS 2005 Express
[07:50] I think Esbee already has vwr-24357 on her radar
[#VWR-24357] "Less" is not displayed after clicking on the "More" button in Nearby Media
[07:50] I would like to see that one pulled in
[07:50] Cummere Mayo: oz: http://twitter.com/BitterlysweetC
[07:51] Oz Linden: yes, that would make sense
[07:52] Oz Linden: Hmmm..... interesting, Cummere
[07:52] Cummere Mayo: my roomate did that so we could demonstrate how easy it is to post peoples profiles with that link system
[07:52] Cummere Mayo: creeeppppy
[07:52] Cummere Mayo: sccccarey
[07:52] THe icon for Hippo Island Managers did not fully load
[07:52] Cummere Mayo: and unacceptable
[07:53] Oz Linden: well, the profiles have urls, so posting them is easy whether the buttons exist or not
[07:53] Oz Linden: But it does raise some interesting questions...
[07:53] Cummere Mayo: there are codes to make them not preview in facebook though.
[07:54] Cummere Mayo: questions ive been trying to bring to attention for a long time. ive got jiras open on why web proviles should not be linkable / shareable, and if the user wants... not even veiwable from the web
[07:55] Oz Linden: Would 'not be viewable without SL authentication' be enough? That would be equivalent to the access rules before they were moved to the web.
[07:56] I have another one for the list (I am assuming this is a bug and not a design decision): vwr-24190 -- it confused the %%%% out of me until I figured out what was going on.
[#VWR-24190] Telehubs look almost identical to Infohubs on the World Map and cannot be turned off
[07:56] lufpleh Obstreperous: think you can remove the Twitter/Linkden & Facebook buttons, Edit Profile > Solcial Identities theres a remove option for the buttons youv'e added
[07:56] Cummere Mayo: that would be an additional option which i wouldnt mind seeing, but ild like the option of searchable/displayable INworld only
[07:57] Cummere Mayo: lufpleh, it doesnt show up for the ones on by default (like and twitter)
[07:57] lufpleh Obstreperous: I can see it for on my profile for the linked Twitter option
[07:58] Cummere Mayo: yeah but twitter is still there even if you didnt add it
[07:58] lufpleh Obstreperous: dont think any on by default, you have to Add
[07:58] Cummere Mayo: and adding it then removing it still doesnt remove it
[07:58] Are you saying you would like an option to disable it?
[07:58] Cummere Mayo: lufpleh i never ever added facebook like or twitter to mine
[07:58] Cummere Mayo: its there
[07:58] lufpleh Obstreperous: the list is there, are you saying the list does something?
[07:59] Cummere Mayo: jonathan ive jiraed a long time ago a request to remove all linking options
[07:59] Oz Linden: Folks, I have another meeting, so I need to end on schedule today....
[07:59] NullSubset Burner: kk folks informative as always have a wonderful Monday.:)
[07:59] Cummere Mayo: lufpleh look at my profile... I did NOT add twitter or say facebook could like my profile. its still there on mine. ive tried adding and removing them and still cant get rid of it
[08:00] Oz Linden: Bye all
[08:00] Cummere Mayo: k oz. I need to talk abotu storm-34 with you before scrum if i can ?
[08:00] Thanks Oz
