The Linden Memorial Park is designed to be a permanent place for inworld memorials to disasters outside of Second Life that affect our Residents. If you would like to hold a memorial event, we have four Regions available (Highgate/Monument/Derran Moor/Winterspire) within the Linden Memorial Park.

From 2009 to 2011, [http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Linden%20Memorial%20Park/50/50/50 Linden Memorial Park] was active as a location to host inworld memorials to Residents of Second Life.  


==Guidelines for memorial events==
Effective July 2011, Linden Memorial Park will no longer accept new requests for memorials. However, Linden Memorial Park will remain open and existing memorials to those who passed away will not be altered or removed. The following are the guidelines for memorial events in the Linden Memorial Park:
There are many community-organized remembrance parks open for new memorial requests. To see a list of options, please visit the [http://secondlife.com/destinations/memorial Memorials category] in the Second Life Destination Guide.


* Memorial events will be open to all.
* Memorial events will be PG rated.
* Memorial events will not be religiously or polictially sensitive.
* Reservations must be made in advance, and are on a first-come, first-served basis.
* Residents must include a full description of the event when applying.
* The maximum period for a memorial event is 1 day.
* Residents will not be allowed to terraform the land
* Residents will not own the land or transfer the land during the event.

To request a memorial event, please submit a support ticket using the [http://secondlife.com/support Support Portal]. Important fields to fill in are as follows:

* Details of the event to be commemorated
* A full description of the event schedule/plan
* The number of regions required for event (maximum is four)

If the memorial event is approved, you will be contacted by Groundskeeper Linden and invited into a Linden Park Memorial Event group to allow you to place objects for the event.
