Cosa è una Live Performance In Second Life?

una live performance in Second Life è presentata da una persona che è reppresentata in-world per mezzo di un avatar, e stacreando la performance in tempo reale, streammando l'audio (o audio e video) dentro Second Life così come sono state create.

Riprodurre un registrato in precedenza, come audio, video o Second Life machinima, non è generalmente considerato come una prestazione dal vivo se non ci sono elementi prodotti al momento mentre il pubblico sta guardando lo spettacolo (sebbene anche questa definizione probabilmente solleverà "obiezioni" da parte di alcuni ;).

Riprodurre uno spettacolo in Second Life è fatto mandando un "flusso" musicale dal tuo computer a Shoutcast o Icecast server, a mappando il l'URL del flusso proveniente dal server a una land in Second Life. La gente che visita la land in Second Life ascolterà lo stream musicale dal vivo. I musicisti sono aanche tipicalmante presenti dentro Second Life nel medesimo momento che stanno suonando, così possono chiacchierare con il pubblico durante le canzoni e spesso accetano richieste! Ci sono anche molti Residenti in Second Life che avviano club e sedi specificamente per ospitare musicisti dal vivo, così non necessariamente devi avere il tuo pezzo di land per iniziare.

Dove posso andare per trovare un concerto?

Entra dentro Second Life, clicca il bottone "Find", e sotto "Events" seleziona la categoria "Live Music." Clicca il bottone Search e vedrai immediatamente una lista di prossimi eventi Live Music e sedi. Clicca su uno di tuo interesse, e puoi teleportarti là. Assicurati che hai l'opzione "play streaming music" accesa in Viewer's Audio Preferences (Edit > Preferences). Quando sei in una land che ha uno streaming music, un piccola finestra Music Control apparirà automaticamente sul tuo schermo. Clicca il bottone play, e starai sentendo la musica...dal vivo!

Come faccio ad ospitare un evento di musica dal vivo?

I proprietari delle land in Second Life possono "streammare" musica nella loro parcella per far divertire ognuno che la visita. Se sei proprietario di un pezzo di land, puoi impostare un "Music URL" specifico per la tua land. Questo "Music URL" può essere MPEG-audio (.mp2, .mp3) e Ogg Vorbis (.ogg) da server di streaming o un server web di base. Ognuno che sta visitando la tua land in Second Life automaticamente ascolterà la musica che desideri proporgli.

Sono un DJ. Posso mandare registrazioni in Second Life?

Assolutamente! Fondamentalmente funziona allo stesso modo di come descritto sopra per i musicisti. Please keep in mind that the audio streams come directly to your Second Life viewer, they do not get streamed by Linden Lab's servers. None of this content comes via Linden Lab's servers at all, so performance issues with streams are completely outside of Linden Lab's control. Some streams reach a maximum number of listeners and then accept no more. Some have poor connections and may stutter or stop.

Most internet radio stations will provide a playlist link (.pls or .m3u) file, which will will trigger your local mp3 player to start up and stream music on your computer. In Second Life you cannot use playlist file links, instead you require the specific address of the music stream. This information is contained within the playlist file, therefore if you open the playlist file in notepad or similar, you can see the actual music stream (usually listed as File1= or File2= in the file).

A few important things to remember:

• Legal Issues: If you choose to stream your own music into SL directly or using a streaming relay host, the content and any copyright/royalty fees and any other possible issues are your responsibility.
• To hear streaming audio, remember that you need to enable the options on the Audio/Video tab of your Preferences (Edit > Preferences) in the Second Life client.
• If there is an invalid URL in the "Music URL" field on the land, you won't get an error message in Second Life (you'll simply won't hear anything). Try double checking the stream in an external player such as Winamp, foobar2000 or iTunes to make sure it is the correct URL and actually broadcasting, and that it has not run out of available streams for listeners.
• You can only change the Music URL directly on land that you own or on group land when you are an officer.
• You can stream MPEG-audio (.mp2, .mp3) and Ogg Vorbis (.ogg) from streaming servers or pre-recorded sessions/tracks from a basic web server.
• Streaming directly from a audio file URL (as opposed to a live streaming URL) will play the file once, but not loop it.
• It is possible for a land owner to create a scripted object that anyone can use to change the streaming music URL.
• Can't get your shoutcast stream to work? If your stream url looks like http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8000/ remove the trailing slash: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8000 Stream URLs typically have a port number like :8000 in the example above. And remember, currently you cannot use playlist files (.pls/.m3u) in Second Life.
