Revision 649243 by Strife

Just to second Strife, while the term region is pretty clear the term sim or simulator can mean many different things (well 3). Calling a region sim is kinda deprecated. For more see this article: Simulator --Jewell Laryukov 13:26, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Exactly. That is the point I was trying to get across, which is why I reverted Gianni's introduction of the wording. It's not only vague and confusing, it's technically wrong.

Simulators

The term simulator (or its abbreviation sim) is too clear as the term region: it's enough to read its definition that give it 2 meanings (not 3). The term region in much cases results wrong while SL scripting language help in client's documentation used term simulator --Gianni Lupindo 14:52, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

The SL documentation, be it the old deprecated manual, or the tooltips is all to often wrong. There is work going on currently to correct the tooltips but I don't think it's hit the Trunk... it's only taken LL 5 years to take the problem seriously. Such delays are what drove the community to write their own documentation for the language. With the maturation of the LSL Portal the old manual was deprecated and the LSL Portal was declared the official LSL documentation by LL.
You haven't provided conclusive evidence to support your claim that "simulator" is the correct term and "region" is the incorrect term. Hinting to the existence of documentation that supports your claim is insufficient. I want a log of what you tried, which could only result in the conclusion that it should be "simulator" and not "region". And since this change effects four function articles, you need to demonstrate it for those functions.
As to the LSL Wiki article for llKey2Name, it should point out, that it's wording predates the distinction between "region" and "simulator". It's never been corrected. -- Strife (talk|contribs) 18:40, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
