- [15:07] Bridie Linden: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Bug_triage/Wednesday_Agenda
- [15:07] Bridie Linden: shall we dive in?
- [15:07] Cummere Mayo: was kdding prospero
- [15:07] Squirrel Wood: ToS = like a rolled up newspaper.
- [15:07] Zen Linden: let's hit it
- [15:07] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-9338
- [15:07] Squirrel Wood: you get hit by it, it hurts. :p
- [15:07] Selena Beale: TOS.. I do.. sorta kinda maybe read it over and over... still can't understand 20% of it
- [15:07] Bridie Linden: llSetCamera edit bug
- [15:07] Alexa Linden: taps Squirrel with the ToS
- [15:08] Squirrel Wood: ^^
- [15:08] Aimee Trescothick: hmm, seems I can't load any webpage from the USA at the moment, but SL still works :D
- [15:08] Bridie Linden: Can any windows folks try this?
- [15:08] Cummere Mayo: I thought this was a dupe but i couldnt find one
- [15:08] Bridie Linden: is it new to 1.21?
- [15:09] Cummere Mayo: no its not new to 1.21 it does it in 1.20 too
- [15:09] Bridie Linden: hmmm
- [15:10] Bridie Linden: "However, with the 1.21.4 (98167) this behavior breaks (as compared to the current standard viewer 1.20.16 and
- earlier)"
- [15:10] Squirrel Wood: does it happen with 1.21.5 ?
- [15:10] Chilli Cao: sorry i just came in.. im on windows what shall i try
- [15:10] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-9338
- [15:10] Chaos Mohr: afternoon everyone :)
- [15:10] Bridie Linden: Welcome Chilli, Chaos
- [15:10] Alexa Linden: Hi Chaos
- [15:10] Bridie Linden: Agenda: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Bug_triage/Wednesday_Agenda
- [15:10] Bridie Linden: we just got started
- [15:11] Chilli Cao: 9338 then ?
- [15:11] Bridie Linden: nods
- [15:11] Garn Conover: Chilli :)
- [15:11] Alexa Linden: yup :)
- [15:11] Bridie Linden: Well, sounds like we should have QA take a look?
- [15:11] Alexa Linden: ya
- [15:11] Zen Linden: sounds good to me
- [15:12] Chilli Cao: Hi!! Garnie :)
- [15:12] Bridie Linden: I think we chatted about next one before
- [15:12] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-9270
- [15:12] Squirrel Wood: We did
- [15:12] Bridie Linden: More of a request?
- [15:12] Squirrel Wood: ya
- [15:12] Garn Conover: there are a few on the list that have been re-added
- [15:12] Alexa Linden: ya, I can move to Feature request
- [15:12] Bridie Linden: ty
- [15:12] Garn Conover: supper afk
- [15:13] Cummere Mayo: yep... and yep but i resolved myself to only doing the ddupes not to pullingoff things we tabled
- [15:13] Bridie Linden: apologizes
- [15:13] Bridie Linden: I put together agenda quickly yesterday...
- [15:13] Bridie Linden: and meant to go back and clean it up..
- [15:13] Chilli Cao: chaning that text to "Starting recompile of scripts in 5 prims" would fix that huhu ^^
- [15:13] Bridie Linden: alas, the day got away from me
- [15:13] Selena Beale: Hmm..
- [15:14] Bridie Linden: on to: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-9509
- [15:14] Squirrel Wood: time? That stuff we always seem to never have enough of :p
- [15:14] Bridie Linden: indeed
- [15:14] Selena Beale: Sorry everyone I need to go eat *pouts*
- [15:14] Bridie Linden: tries to rez more time...
- [15:14] Squirrel Wood: texture cache IS quite ineffective
- [15:14] Prospero Linden: Squirrel : hence time = money
- [15:14] Bridie Linden: See ya Selena
- [15:15] Cummere Mayo: tc sel
- [15:15] Zen Linden: The graphics folks are getting ready to do an optimization pass. Taking another look at the texture cache might be a good idea.
- [15:16] Bridie Linden: Yeah - we've been hearing about textures loading more slowly, but QA hasn't been able to repro/verify consistently
- [15:16] Cummere Mayo: unless i glitch or my hd fills I dotn cleare the cache anymore
- [15:16] Squirrel Wood: I would prefer if the client would actually load textures from cache instead of from server - even if loading from server is faster.
- [15:16] Cummere Mayo: and bridie do your qa only try to repo that from within your networks at LL?
- [15:17] Bridie Linden: I'm not certain where they've tried...
- [15:17] Prospero Linden: The do sometimes look on agni as well as in internal dev environments to repro
- [15:17] Bridie Linden: Many lindens (of course) do login from outside of LL
- [15:17] Chilli Cao: how is loading from server faster than from cache squirrel
- [15:17] Alexa Linden: LL is all over the world as far as employees
- [15:17] Squirrel Wood: load from server bypasses search in cache?
- [15:18] Bridie Linden: looks @ Zen
- [15:18] Zen Linden: and our asset servers are spread out too, so being on the LL network, often doesn't make any sort of latency difference
- [15:18] Cummere Mayo: I know that alexa but even an internal virtual network can cause some significant differances then a normal net interface..... dl speeds included
- [15:18] Chilli Cao: but there is the network in between while cache is local
- [15:18] Zen Linden: doesn't know enough about the texture cache to know how long searches take
- [15:19] Squirrel Wood: the entire caching system needs to be revisited and optimized
- [15:19] Bridie Linden: Should we send this one to QA?
- [15:19] Zen Linden: hehe. I'll mention it to the optimization folks
- [15:19] Cummere Mayo: guesses that cache vs server would depend ont he machine and thenet connection and several other factors and may be faster to cahce for some and faster to dl for others
- [15:20] Bridie Linden: link to other issue?
- [15:20] Squirrel Wood: from all the discussions I've been part of the general outcome is that past a certain cache size loading from server = faster than looking things up
- [15:20] Zen Linden: yeah, toss it to qa, just to check. If it's true, then yeah, we ought to dig a little deeper
- [15:20] Cummere Mayo: i vote send to qa bridie
- [15:20] Alexa Linden: ok
- [15:20] Chilli Cao: that is the purpose of cache
- [15:20] Bridie Linden: ok
- [15:20] Zen Linden: i'd place it on steve's "things to optimize plate"
- [15:21] Chilli Cao: okis :D
- [15:21] Bridie Linden: :)
- [15:21] Squirrel Wood: also, often textures are not fully cached.
- [15:21] Cummere Mayo: next one we discussed but theres new info
- [15:21] Bridie Linden: Ok, Cummere
- [15:21] Squirrel Wood: you end up with many half-cached textures
- [15:21] Chilli Cao: opens map
- [15:21] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-9056
- [15:21] Bambers Linden: hi - sorry I'm late
- [15:22] Bridie Linden: Heya Bambers
- [15:22] Chilli Cao: yes loose 3 fps indeed.. but thats logical.. my client needs to draw the map!
- [15:22] Bridie Linden: I don't think that info is new...
- [15:22] Cummere Mayo: bambers dont worry, I have a dungeon w will torture you in later for being late :P
- [15:22] Chilli Cao: same as if i am to camera around.. i lose fps because my client is busy rendering
- [15:22] Prospero Linden: O.o
- [15:22] Bridie Linden: So on to: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-9513
- [15:22] Bambers Linden: O.o
- [15:22] Chilli Cao: and now that map is loaded, my fps is gradualy climbing back up
- [15:23] Zen Linden: sounds like things are better... shall we close it?
- [15:23] Cummere Mayo: better but not fixed
- [15:23] Bridie Linden: At least update title
- [15:23] Zen Linden: 9513 needs more info
- [15:23] Cummere Mayo: nods "still vote import but at low priority"
- [15:24] Squirrel Wood: 9513 smells like a dupe
- [15:24] Zen Linden: yup
- [15:24] Bridie Linden: it does Squirrel
- [15:24] Bridie Linden: and of course Ellla already has made some suggestions
- [15:24] Alexa Linden: Yay Elllla
- [15:24] Alexa Linden: - 1 L
- [15:24] Bridie Linden: Let's resolve as one of those
- [15:24] Alexa Linden: kk
- [15:25] Zen Linden: i don't think ellla gets enough "yays" :p
- [15:25] Bridie Linden: YAY ELLLA!
- [15:25] Alexa Linden: lol
- [15:25] Zen Linden: YAAAAY!
- [15:25] Aimee Trescothick: Yayayay
- [15:26] Object: Glod: Sarts for all!
- [15:26] Object: No: more Glod Sarts for you!
- [15:26] Alexa Linden: yes! huge thanks to Gellan and Ellla who have done some major cleaning this week
- [15:26] Bridie Linden: Cummere, did you remove several issues from the agenda?
- [15:26] Alexa Linden: and helped me with a correction project
- [15:26] Cummere Mayo: if you look down i lsit which ones i resolved
- [15:26] Cummere Mayo: and moved off
- [15:27] Cummere Mayo: I only took off ones that were resolved
- [15:27] Bridie Linden: Ok, on to https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-9104
- [15:29] Bridie Linden: Dupe of nvdia issue? or try RC5?
- [15:29] Zen Linden: no it's different
- [15:29] Zen Linden: laptop drivers
- [15:29] Zen Linden: ugh
- [15:29] Zen Linden: dell doesn't always release the latest (though thank god it's not 177 or 8)
- [15:29] Chilli Cao: i was getting this after having the viewer heavily used on a DELL laptop with intel gfx card..
- [15:29] Bridie Linden: Second Life 1.21.0 (95157)
- [15:29] Squirrel Wood: dell typically provides drivers for their pc/laptop models and they are pretty good at providing the proper ones for your device
- [15:30] Zen Linden: squirrel, not necessarily. if you have an older one, they often do not update the drivers
- [15:30] Zen Linden: anyway, i'd ask if this is still a proble
- [15:30] Bridie Linden: +1
- [15:30] Alexa Linden: will do
- [15:30] Bridie Linden: or problem even
- [15:30] Zen Linden: problem with dell's latest drivers and rc5
- [15:31] Bridie Linden: Next up
- [15:31] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-9279
- [15:32] Alexa Linden: Ellla!
- [15:32] Cummere Mayo: huggles ellla
- [15:32] Alexa Linden: man, you missed the love!!!
- [15:32] Ellla McMahon: hello everyone .. SO sorry I am late :(
- [15:32] Alexa Linden: no worries :D
- [15:32] Squirrel Wood: you missed being yay'd at :p
- [15:33] Alexa Linden: we're on https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-9279
- [15:33] Zen Linden: diigging through the logs
- [15:33] Ellla McMahon: oh wow ! :((
- [15:33] Bridie Linden: Ellla review the logs :)
- [15:33] Ellla McMahon: yes I will .. thank you :))
- [15:33] Alexa Linden: 15:24 Ellla :P
- [15:33] Bridie Linden: Zen, this is a crash and not the sudden log off issue?
- [15:34] Gellan Glenelg: I'm confused as to why he reported VWR-9126, closed it and re-created
- [15:34] Zen Linden: this is definitely a crash
- [15:34] Bridie Linden: i guess if there are crash logs...
- [15:34] Zen Linden: 2008-09-25T23:17:49Z INFO: handleViewerCrash: Handle viewer crash entry.
- [15:34] Bridie Linden: nods
- [15:34] Cummere Mayo: he was mad someone else linked possibly related issues
- [15:35] Zen Linden: I'd import and toss at crash hunters to look at the logs
- [15:35] Ellla McMahon: yes that would be mad at me !
- [15:35] Bridie Linden: how could he be mad @ Ellla?
- [15:35] Squirrel Wood: ^^
- [15:35] Ellla McMahon: :))
- [15:35] Zen Linden: but not sure how much can be done
- [15:35] Cummere Mayo: I concur with ellla's links though
- [15:35] Bridie Linden: Let's import as Zen suggested for crash hunters
- [15:36] Brai Magic: ella was grey on my client until this moment.. is that normal load time?
- [15:36] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-8849
- [15:36] Cummere Mayo: yes brai
- [15:36] Brai Magic: ok thanks
- [15:36] Bridie Linden: That one's already on Babbage's plate for Mono folks
- [15:37] Bridie Linden: and Babbage already commented
- [15:37] Bridie Linden: Next up
- [15:37] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-9557
- [15:37] Zen Linden: it sounds like their drivers don't support multitexture...
- [15:38] Cummere Mayo: should you link to the internal then?
- [15:38] Zen Linden: this is linux, and probably not worth making internal
- [15:38] Bridie Linden: Let's poke Tofu on this...
- [15:38] Alexa Linden: k
- [15:39] Ellla McMahon: that's always in the log isn;t it ?
- [15:39] Bridie Linden: i think we discussed this one before too
- [15:39] Ellla McMahon: 2008-10-08T19:38:51Z WARNING: LLGLManager::initWGL: No ARB WGL render texture extensions
- [15:39] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-8914
- [15:39] Squirrel Wood: deja vu
- [15:40] Garn Conover: back :)-- i told ya there was a few repeats
- [15:40] Bridie Linden: nods
- [15:40] Bridie Linden: hangs head in shame
- [15:40] Zen Linden: hehe
- [15:40] Squirrel Wood: I propose the same resolution as last time ^^
- [15:40] Garn Conover: hehe
- [15:40] Bridie Linden: Were we going to suggest clearing cache and rebaking of textures?
- [15:41] Zen Linden: also, try turning down texture memory
- [15:41] Cummere Mayo: sorry bridie i didnt have time to take out the repeats I did what i could in 3 hours between mad dashes to throw up (is sick today)
- [15:41] Bridie Linden: :O
- [15:41] Prospero Linden: is impressed Cummere is even here
- [15:41] Garn Conover: poor Cummere!
- [15:41] Alexa Linden: I'll post that
- [15:42] Bridie Linden: NExt up, another deja vu?
- [15:42] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-8919
- [15:42] Garn Conover: not repoable
- [15:42] Zen Linden: agreed
- [15:42] Garn Conover: we tried this last week
- [15:42] Zen Linden: yup
- [15:42] Bridie Linden: hmm, maybe me or nya just forgot to update...
- [15:42] Garn Conover: thats possible
- [15:42] Bridie Linden: or Alexa...
- [15:43] Cummere Mayo: Ill clsoe it if you want
- [15:43] Garn Conover: so the old stuff never got removed?
- [15:43] Bridie Linden: Let's (re) resolve
- [15:43] Cummere Mayo: resolve cant dupe?
- [15:43] Alexa Linden: no we don't close it
- [15:43] Alexa Linden: I'll take care of it :)
- [15:43] Bridie Linden: can't repro
- [15:43] Bridie Linden: Next
- [15:43] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-8946
- [15:43] Garn Conover: repeat as well i beleive
- [15:43] Cummere Mayo: menat cant repo meh.... brb I hope
- [15:44] Bridie Linden: Update drivers, try new RC, etc
- [15:44] Alexa Linden: k
- [15:44] Zen Linden: lower texture memory too
- [15:45] Bridie Linden: Thx Zen
- [15:45] Bridie Linden: Next
- [15:45] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-9060
- [15:45] Zen Linden: mac ati 2400 and 2600s are finicky
- [15:45] Bridie Linden: (i can't believe we found one Ellla hadn't gotten to before: 8496)
- [15:45] Alexa Linden: lol
- [15:45] Garn Conover: 9060 is part of the bigger inventory issue i beleive
- [15:46] Bridie Linden: The related issue Garn?
- [15:46] Ellla McMahon: LOL @ Bridie .. sorry I missed one !! hehehe
- [15:46] Squirrel Wood: when you take something into inv, the window pops up.
- [15:46] Squirrel Wood: attaching basically "moves" the object to your inv
- [15:46] Garn Conover: there is an issue with the invetory window popping open
- [15:46] Squirrel Wood: causing the window to pop up.
- [15:47] Bridie Linden: I hadn't seen that one
- [15:47] Squirrel Wood: so technically you take the object-to-attach into your inventory
- [15:47] Aimee Trescothick: worst is when you're getting a load of stuff autoreturned or something, you can't type because it keeps popping to the inventory window lol
- [15:47] Alexa Linden: yes
- [15:48] Squirrel Wood: the behavior itself is therefore working as it should. its just not expected by the users
- [15:48] Squirrel Wood: (un)failable squirrely logic (tm)
- [15:48] Alexa Linden: lolol
- [15:48] Bridie Linden: VWR-8661 looks fixed
- [15:49] Chilli Cao: yes its normal behaviour not really a bug right
- [15:49] Alexa Linden: afk
- [15:49] Aimee Trescothick: would be better if when the option is on, and it pops up it didn't take focus
- [15:49] Bridie Linden: fixed in RC3
- [15:49] Cummere Mayo: is there a way to disable the inventory window opening when you get stuff autoreturned?
- [15:49] Bridie Linden: So you're still seeing this one?
- [15:49] Joeseph Albanese: In preferences I believe
- [15:50] Bridie Linden: looks @ Bambers
- [15:50] Aimee Trescothick: hmm, not tried but I assume unticking that popup option for newly accepted items would stop it
- [15:50] Bambers Linden: looks at floor
- [15:50] Gellan Glenelg: It's meant to
- [15:50] Aimee Trescothick: in the popup prefs
- [15:50] Bambers Linden: oh yeah - forgot it was there
- [15:50] Bambers Linden: :) was thinking "oh no - it's gone from general..."
- [15:51] Aimee Trescothick: lol
- [15:51] Alexa Linden: back
- [15:51] Bridie Linden: sooo, 9060 working as expected?
- [15:52] Squirrel Wood: technically yes.
- [15:52] Cummere Mayo: guess so.... just annoying lol
- [15:52] Squirrel Wood: though not from the users PoV
- [15:52] Alexa Linden: they can fill out a feature request to have it changed
- [15:52] Gellan Glenelg: It's difficult to know what was intended. Some of the other things that cause it to open are quite strange choices
- [15:53] Bridie Linden: well, this issue (currently) has 0 votes...
- [15:53] Squirrel Wood: I would suggest turning it into a feature request ?
- [15:53] Garn Conover: i find voting isn't as big as it used to be these days
- [15:53] Alexa Linden: yup :) will do or suggest that they do with a listing of how they like to see it function
- [15:54] Bridie Linden: I think that sounds fine
- [15:54] Bridie Linden: Garn, some of us still look @ votes! :)
- [15:54] Garn Conover: see's 9 jiras on list with votes
- [15:55] Alexa Linden: gellan, testing you for this next one
- [15:55] Cummere Mayo: um since we're running low on time, I was wondering if any linden here would be willing to look at a recurance of an issue thats mroe svc I think?
- [15:55] Gellan Glenelg: oh?
- [15:55] Alexa Linden: can you take a pic with the invite?
- [15:55] Gellan Glenelg: oopsie... already accepted... try again
- [15:55] Alexa Linden: LOL
- [15:56] Bridie Linden: Last one
- [15:56] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-9128
- [15:56] Bridie Linden: for today that is...
- [15:56] Bridie Linden: which you all are already on!
- [15:56] Alexa Linden: :P
- [15:56] Squirrel Wood: modal / non modal dialogs ?
- [15:57] Gellan Glenelg: worked fine for me
- [15:57] Gellan Glenelg: bug does not repro (I'm on rc5
- [15:57] Alexa Linden: squirrel?
- [15:57] Bridie Linden: It's from Sept
- [15:57] Squirrel Wood: I usually printscreen my screenshots
- [15:57] Chilli Cao: not much info
- [15:57] Bridie Linden: yeah
- [15:57] Squirrel Wood: and that always works
- [15:57] Chilli Cao: i wonder if its related to https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-9372
- [15:57] Chilli Cao: that is in the agenda as well
- [15:57] Chilli Cao: by skare foss
- [15:57] Squirrel Wood: snapshot works for me
- [15:58] Chilli Cao: i get it sometimes, when my viewer cant get my email to use in "from" on the email
- [15:58] Chilli Cao: but havent had it for a while now
- [15:58] Garn Conover: hey Bridie so when does RC go live?
