The easiest way to get involved as a developer is to start reporting bugs that you can reproduce. This means that you can always make the viewer crash by following some simple steps.
If you can reproduce a crash, create a Jira with the correct version set and a SecondLifeCrashReport.log file attached. The SecondLifeCrashReport.log file lives in the logs folder. You can find the location of the logs folder in the Knowledge Base.
