Viewer Support Policy
As described in the March 2009 blog post, our policy is to support the newest official Second Life Release, the last released Beta or Release Candidate Viewer, and the previous official Second Life Release. For example: Viewers 2.1.1 and 1.23.5 (Second Life Release Viewers), and Viewer 2.2.0 (Second Life Beta Viewer).
Note: Exceptions to the above policy may occur when important crash and/or bug fixes in the latest Second Life Release necessitate making the newest Second Life Release a mandatory update from the last official release. For example, to greatly improve Resident crash rates, Viewer 2.1.0 was deprecated shortly after the release of Viewer 2.1.1, which included several important crash fixes. |
Deprecation Policy
Because Linden Lab supports only the current version and one version back, sixty (60) days after the release of a new official Viewer, the oldest Second Life Release will be deprecated. At that time, Residents attempting to log in using the deprecated version are required to update to the newest Second Life Release. Should you wish to use a supported Viewer other than the newest one, download links have been provided below.
