- [15:02] Kallista DestinyKallista Destiny sighs
- [15:02] Nalates Urriah: A bunch of us are stuck over on LUSK
- [15:02] Kallista Destiny: Yeh but we can't do anythng
- [15:03] Oskar Linden: can't do anything?
- [15:03] Oskar Linden: coyot, go fix the asset server
- [15:03] Oskar Linden: Kallista can't do anything
- [15:03] Kallista Destiny: make soemthing take it, and relog and poof it;s gone
- [15:03] Lucia Nightfire: I posted a url before leaving there
- [15:03] Oskar Linden: Maestro we saw that issue befor eright?
- [15:03] Lucia Nightfire: which is what I used to get here
- [15:03] Motor Loon: Good thing its the betagrid then
- [15:03] Maestro Linden: Yes there's a Jira
- [15:04] Maestro Linden: basically, if you update your account on aditi now (or sometime in the past few months), your inventory will be broken
- [15:04] Oskar Linden: hmm
- [15:04] Nalates Urriah: Yay they are showing up!
- [15:04] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: i updated mine yesterday perfectly fine
- [15:04] Oskar Linden: ok, maestro, coyot let's talk offline about fixing that
- [15:04] Oskar Linden: maestro can you start an email thread on the topic?
- [15:04] Maestro Linden: Oh really, your clothing etc all migrated cleanly?
- [15:05] Motor Loon: Lucky shot °͜°
- [15:05] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: it failed on 1.23, but worked fine on 3.x
- [15:05] Maestro Linden: maybe somebody fixed it and didn't tell us
- [15:05] Nalates Urriah: All my older inventory works. Anything within like 2 weeks of when I changed my password won't rez.
- [15:05] Maestro Linden: Huh, that's odd, FuzzyWuff. I wouldn't expect viewer version to matter.
- [15:05] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: i got twice booted from failing to fetch and bake inventory, and using exodus, it worked
- [15:05] Maestro Linden: ah right
- [15:05] Nalates Urriah: Anything I build here and save to invenoty disappears.
- [15:05] Oskar Linden: gimme a minute to get things sorted on my end
- [15:06] Motor Loon: It's getting a bit messy around here... cleaninglady on vacation? °͜°
- [15:06] Oskar Linden: coyot will entertain you with his unix shell script limericks
- [15:06] Kallista Destiny: Nal when you relog right?
- [15:06] Nalates Urriah: Yes Kal
- [15:06] Motor LoonMotor Loon gets his 1l$ bills ready for Coyot's dancing
- [15:06] Coyot Linden: There once was a man from St. Bees
- [15:07] Coyot Linden: Who was stung in the arm by a wasp
- [15:07] Coyot Linden: When asked, "Does it hurt?"
- [15:07] Coyot Linden: He replied, "No it doesn't"
- [15:07] Coyot Linden: "I'm so glad it wasn't a hornet."
- [15:07] Oskar Linden: nice
- [15:07] Coyot Linden: -Ogden Nash
- [15:08] Oskar Linden: not unix shell related but well done
- [15:08] Kallista DestinyKallista Destiny mutters wishing that she could off a linden
- [15:08] Motor Loon: hmm... yeah... so.... striptease would have been better Coyot
- [15:08] Oskar Linden: there once was a shell called bash
- [15:08] Coyot Linden: the rest of the limericks I know aren't suitable for mixed company ;)
- [15:08] Maestro Linden: FuzzyWuff: can you try this when the meeting's done? Make a new item in your inventory (it doesn't matter what, but give it a unique name), and see if it's still there after you relog.
- [15:09] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: of course
- [15:09] Oskar Linden: cool
- [15:09] Oskar Linden: or try it right now :-)
- [15:09] Oskar Linden: ok here is the agenda: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Server_Beta_User_Group
- [15:09] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: ok, let me try to make an oskar voodoo doll
- [15:09] Oskar Linden: it's really light today
- [15:09] Oskar Linden: I don't have a lot to report
- [15:09] Maestro Linden: If it's still there, maybe SVC-7727 is fixed for recently-updated avatars..
- [15:09] Flame of Jira: [#SVC-7727] Aditi grid problem. After changing my password to cause my inventory on Aditi to update, my inventory no longer saves changes made to it from session to session. https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7727
- [15:10] Kallista Destiny: brb
- [15:10] Oskar Linden: we have been focusing on some infrastructure work and pathfinding instead of server maint type projects
- [15:10] Rex Cronon: hello everybody
- [15:10] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: my oskar doll will be easy to make, because i dont have hair to redo
- [15:10] Fellony Lock Pick Hud: Reading pickconfig note card....
- [15:10] Fellony Lock Pick Hud: Reading pickconfig note card....
- [15:11] Draconis Neurocam: there once was a shell named bourne, whose grammer was utterly trash, so someone sat down, and looked around and eventually switched to bash ?
- [15:11] Rex Cronon: is somebody trying to crash this group meeting?
- [15:11] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: tadaa
- [15:11] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: it almost look like you
- [15:11] Coyot Linden: nice, draconis
- [15:11] Nalates Urriah: This is a poetry meeting now...
- [15:12] Kallista Destiny: well the object is there, but my outfit as, as you can see is hosed
- [15:12] Fellony Lock Pick Hud: Reading pickconfig note card....
- [15:13] Kallista Destiny: I also didn't end up where I logged out from but over there on the silver chair
- [15:13] Oskar Linden: I thought that was your look Kallista
- [15:13] Motor Loon: Kallista... you need that Fellony Lock pick hud right now?
- [15:13] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: ok, created an object in world, took to inventory, and created a new outfit/shoes in the inventory
- [15:13] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: reloging now
- [15:13] Oskar Linden: ok I'll get to the agenda first
- [15:13] Kallista Destiny: No I was wearing black, not white
- [15:13] Oskar Linden: we rolled the main channel Tuesday morning
- [15:14] Oskar Linden: with the maint server on the RC's last week
- [15:14] Oskar Linden: some new stuff in there
- [15:14] Oskar Linden: but nothing new to you all
- [15:14] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: my items are still there and fetched properly
- [15:14] Oskar Linden: yay
- [15:14] Coyot Linden: They are quite, um, fetching
- [15:14] Oskar Linden: is anyone seeing any major issues with the main channel deploy?
- [15:15] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: i can give you a bone coyot if you need something to fetch
- [15:15] Lucia Nightfire: only that llGetAgentList() has its bug on all channels now, heh
- [15:15] Motor Loon: well, that was expected
- [15:15] Lucia Nightfire: I sort of figured it would make it on all of them too, heh
- [15:16] Nalates Urriah: I haven't. I have heard some complain about region crossings... :? which made no sense to me.
- [15:16] Rex Cronon: not being able to fully use agentlist on attahcments is kind of a letdown:(
- [15:16] Oskar Linden: there were some reports in the forums
- [15:16] Jonathan Yap: Has someone been checking http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Server/Attachments-issues-on-region-crossing/td-p/1517549
- [15:16] Motor Loon: Crossings are working fine in my experience atleast.
- [15:16] Maestro Linden: Kelly fixed the bug, Rex, but it just hasn't made it into RC yet
- [15:16] Nalates Urriah: work for me too
- [15:16] Oskar Linden: the region crossing upgrade code that we added to the RC's began crashing at an unusually high rate
- [15:17] Oskar Linden: so we had to do an emergency rollback
- [15:17] Rex Cronon: takes weeks for fixes to make it to the main:(
- [15:17] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: the only weird thing i noticed is the physic, objects tend to fall through the ground and avatar doesnt bake properly, teleporting out of the region fix them
- [15:18] Coyot Linden: so now trunk is everywhere:
- [15:18] Coyot Linden: main channel
- [15:18] Coyot Linden: and all of the RCs
- [15:18] Oskar Linden: main channel fixes do take a long time
- [15:18] Oskar Linden: it's better to find fixes in RC
- [15:18] Oskar Linden: I mean find bugs
- [15:18] Oskar Linden: and then get them fixed in RC
- [15:18] Coyot Linden: haha
- [15:18] Oskar Linden: which is what we shoot for
- [15:19] Oskar Linden: so there is a new Linden who is supposed to be on his way here
- [15:19] Motor Loon: ooh
- [15:19] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: where is fuzzywuff linden :I
- [15:19] Oskar Linden: Widely Linden
- [15:19] TankMaster Finesmith: * [15:19] Widely Linden entered the region (134.04 m).
- [15:19] Motor Loon: Widely.... who came up with that name?
- [15:20] Lucia Nightfire: 6 day old Linden, new ya
- [15:20] Coyot Linden: Widely did
- [15:20] Coyot Linden: as is true of all of us
- [15:20] Oskar Linden shouts: hello widely!
- [15:20] Nalates Urriah: Do we have ta be nice?
- [15:20] Motor Loon: That almost deserves an explanation °͜°
- [15:20] Coyot Linden: almost
- [15:20] Drew BhaltiDrew Bhalti is nice
- [15:20] Oskar Linden: always be nice to Lindens
- [15:20] Oskar Linden: even if they are new
- [15:20] Oskar Linden: you do have to be nice!
- [15:20] Motor Loon: damn...
- [15:20] Nalates Urriah: :/ Darn... ok
- [15:20] Motor Loon: never any fun
- [15:20] Oskar Linden: hello Widely
- [15:20] Coyot Linden: ha
- [15:20] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: i miss vektor linden, havent seen him over 4 years
- [15:21] Motor Loon: oooh
- [15:21] Motor Loon: looke at that... a new shiny linden thats not looking like a noob °͜°
- [15:21] Motor Loon: ..there's a first for everything °͜°
- [15:21] Oskar Linden: this meeting is all in text Widely
- [15:21] Kallista Destiny: HI Whirly
- [15:21] Coyot Linden: we ran out of blue and white t-shirts, Motor
- [15:21] Whirly Fizzle: Hai!
- [15:21] Widely Linden: Hi!
- [15:21] Oskar Linden: Welcome Widely
- [15:21] Oskar Linden: Please introduce yourself
- [15:22] Motor Loon: Welcome to the grid Widely... We've promised to be nice... so ... we'll try °͜°
- [15:22] Oskar Linden: tell us who you are and what you do
- [15:22] arton Rotaru: classic overdressed noob AV, if you ask me^^ :p
- [15:22] Rex Cronon: hi widely "known" linden:)
- [15:22] Oskar Linden: these fine residents have promised to be nice
- [15:22] Widely Linden: hey guys
- [15:22] Nalates Urriah: Hi
- [15:22] Drew Bhalti: meow
- [15:22] Widely Linden: nice to meet you all
- [15:22] Psi Merlin: Hello Widely
- [15:22] Matu: Hello
- [15:22] Kallista Destiny: Welcome to the nut house
- [15:23] Jonathan Yap: Hi Widely
- [15:23] Widely Linden: I'm a senior producer on the product team, and I'm looking forward to pitching in and help the grid be the best it can be.
- [15:23] Rex Cronon: more like the "little house of horrors":)
- [15:23] Kallista Destiny: Yeah!!!!!
- [15:23] Oskar Linden: well this is the best place to learn about all that is wrong with the grid and the fixes we are pushing to the grid
- [15:23] TankMaster Finesmith: what kind of produce do you work with? :P
- [15:23] Jonathan Yap: Widely, are you one of the people who meets with Oz every 2 weeks ?
- [15:23] Motor Loon: whats wrong with "better than you could though was the best it could be"?
- [15:24] Widely Linden: lemons mostly
- [15:24] Motor Loon: "think"
- [15:24] TankMaster Finesmith: lol
- [15:24] Kallista DestinyKallista Destiny snickers
- [15:24] Oskar Linden: there you have it a Linden going on record claiming we produce lemons
- [15:24] Oskar Linden: *sigh*
- [15:24] Coyot LindenCoyot Linden hands Kallista a Mars Bar
- [15:24] Oskar Linden: :-D
- [15:24] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: my biggest concern is the fact that the "see avatar from other parcel" is an useless feature as long as you can just fly 60 meters ontop of a parcel where you are banned or not ona ccess
- [15:24] Coyot Linden: to go with her Snickers
- [15:24] Widely Linden: just kidding!
- [15:24] Oskar Linden: hah
- [15:24] Rex Cronon: samurai?
- [15:25] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: go fix it Widely, :D
- [15:25] Oskar Linden: ok, so we've gone through the updates for the week
- [15:25] Widely Linden: the swords are handy when making lemonade
- [15:25] arton Rotaru: it's 5000 meters ban height now
- [15:25] Oskar Linden: Widely, I start off with an update of the weeks work then we talk about upcoming projects
- [15:25] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: weird, i am pretty sure on Magnum i was able to fly over, i will need more extend testing then
- [15:26] Oskar Linden: this week we had a main channel deploy and a failed RC deploy
- [15:26] Oskar Linden: we don't have any upcoming work to announce at this time
- [15:26] Lucia Nightfire: that explains why my sim was started twice
- [15:26] Oskar Linden: you all know about the pathfinding project already
- [15:26] Oskar Linden: and you know about that user group after this meeting
- [15:27] Motor Loon: we gotten closer to it being ready in the last week?
- [15:27] Oskar Linden: this is the info on the beta: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Pathfinding_Public_Beta
- [15:27] Oskar Linden: if you haven't checked out pathfinding be sure to give it a try
- [15:27] Coyot Linden: Lucia: yes
- [15:27] Lucia Nightfire: I know an interesting side-effect pathfindnig regions have on tpv's, heh
- [15:27] Coyot Linden: unfortunate, but better than keeping crashing code out there
- [15:27] Oskar Linden: the Region Crossing code that got rolled back has been very tricky for us
- [15:28] Motor Loon: sounds like there's being worked on the mesh deformer too though, if you consider that a "project"
- [15:28] Oskar Linden: it is very complicated and causes lots of tangential issues
- [15:28] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: i did not but i will sure go check after this, is the pathfinding specific to a server or it is included on magnum ?
- [15:28] Oskar Linden: it is only in beta now
- [15:28] Oskar Linden: fuzzy
- [15:28] Maestro Linden: pathfinding is not on Magnum
- [15:28] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: ok, so aditi only
- [15:28] Maestro Linden: on Agni, it's only in the "Second life RC PF" cahnnel
- [15:28] Maestro Linden: channel
- [15:28] Oskar Linden: each of the RC channels on AGNI now have main channel code
- [15:28] arton Rotaru: it's on Snack
- [15:28] Maestro Linden: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Pathfinding_Public_Beta
- [15:28] Nalates Urriah: There are Pathfinding test regions in both AGNI and ADITI
- [15:29] Oskar Linden: all the info is in there and in the user group after this meeting Fuzzy
- [15:29] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: gotcha
- [15:29] Lucia Nightfire: and all PF regions I know of can't stay running mroe than 3 days without a crash so far
- [15:29] Motor Loon: the maingrid PF regions are older codebase then here on betagrid right?
- [15:29] Maestro Linden: yes, we only update agni about once a week, motor
- [15:29] Motor LoonMotor Loon nods
- [15:29] Maestro Linden: and we update aditi once or twice a day
- [15:29] Jonathan Yap: I thought the PF regions also are running a lot of debugging code, so they run slower
- [15:30] Maestro Linden: Yep, that's true. They're also running with asserts enabled
- [15:30] Maestro Linden: So they'll crash due to bugs that won't crash on a production build
- [15:30] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: make more sense to try it here, but twice a day is too much to see how pathfindign can be stable over 48+ hours
- [15:30] Coyot Linden: assert(MAYBE)
- [15:30] Oskar Linden: so we have 30 minutes left in this meeting and I have all the updates I needed to discuss
- [15:30] Kallista Destiny: lols
- [15:30] Oskar Linden: I can open the floor to questions ro discussion on topics of your choosing
- [15:31] Coyot Linden: that's 30 min back in everyone's day
- [15:31] Lucia Nightfire: what were some statistics or fundamentals involved in choosign what regions got PF?
- [15:31] Maestro Linden: I have a topic. How's Jira working for you guys today?
- [15:31] Lucia Nightfire: as I've seen sandbox regiosn mainly
- [15:31] Maestro Linden: Any search failures?
- [15:31] Oskar Linden: volunteer Lucia
- [15:31] Oskar Linden: oh right
- [15:31] Oskar Linden: Maestro
- [15:31] Oskar Linden: Jira Search failures anyone?
- [15:31] Theresa Tennyson: Did you do something to change object rezzing lately? Maybe one of the sekrit security changes?
- [15:31] Kallista Destiny: Not me,, Whirly?
- [15:31] Maestro Linden: it was failing yesterday intermittently, but the tools team did some maintenance last night
- [15:31] Oskar Linden: Lucia: all regions were volunteer regions
- [15:31] Nalates Urriah: not so far. Only did one
- [15:32] Maestro Linden: A few mainland regions were volunteered recently
- [15:32] Oskar Linden: I have seen some reports of object rezzing failures Theresa. Do you know of a jira with details?
- [15:32] Whirly Fizzle: I have a question please. The bold text at the top of http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Pathfinding_Quick_Start_Guide . Will this be something EVERY landowner will need to do once PF is rolled out gridwide? If they dont do this, will it cause performance issues?
- [15:32] Maestro Linden: but all the private estates were moved at the owner's request
- [15:32] Oskar Linden: we're still working out those details Whirly
- [15:32] Whirly Fizzle: Oh Rez fail JIRAS, yes, hang on...
- [15:32] Theresa Tennyson: Hold on, or Whirly might know off the top of her head...
- [15:32] Oskar Linden: some things are still undecided
- [15:32] Whirly Fizzle: Ahh okay. Thanks Oscar
- [15:32] Oskar Linden: k
- [15:32] Oskar Linden: osKar :-p
- [15:33] Whirly Fizzle: Its going to be chaos if that is the case heh
- [15:33] Oskar Linden: osCar is a grouch
- [15:33] TankMaster Finesmith: haha
- [15:33] TankMaster FinesmithTankMaster Finesmith things oskar is to
- [15:33] TankMaster Finesmith: thinks*
- [15:33] Oskar LindenOskar Linden is a kitten
- [15:33] Oskar Linden: kittens start with k
- [15:33] Drew BhaltiDrew Bhalti is a skunk and that has a K
- [15:33] TankMaster Finesmith: so does kill
- [15:33] TankMaster Finesmith: as in raod kill
- [15:33] Kallista Destiny: Whirly is a JIRA wizzard
- [15:33] Coyot Linden: I thought that was nasCar
- [15:33] Kallista Destiny: Kitteh
- [15:34] TankMaster Finesmith: :D
- [15:34] Oskar Linden: Whirly, tell me more about your thoughts on the text in bold on that page: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Pathfinding_Quick_Start_Guide
- [15:34] Whirly Fizzle: SVC-7907 SVC-7902 SVC-7905 <---rez failures
- [15:34] Flame of Jira: [#SVC-7907] "Restore to last position" TPV feature appears broken if you dont have rez rights at <0,0,0> on the region https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7905
- [15:34] Flame of Jira: [#SVC-7902] Problem of not being able to rez on my land continues https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7905
- [15:34] Flame of Jira: [#SVC-7905] Cannot rez objects in Linden Home (Chriden region) https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7905
- [15:34] Kallista Destiny: IOh hai, I can haz cheezeburget
- [15:34] Jonathan Yap: svc-7902
- [15:34] Flame of Jira: [#SVC-7902] Problem of not being able to rez on my land continues https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7902
- [15:35] Maestro Linden: I have a theory for SVC-7902
- [15:35] Coyot Linden: So, got stuff to do, cya all around
- [15:35] TankMaster Finesmith: tc cyot
- [15:35] Motor Loon: ooh theory.,.. chaostheory?
- [15:35] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: so hummm Oskar, you said that the pathfinding could be on agnis as well, but is not on magnum, i can't request to have both for testing on the same region ?
- [15:35] Maestro Linden: when you rez a linkset from inventory, it places the center of the linkset at the place you specified
- [15:35] Rex Cronon: tc coyot
- [15:35] Coyot Linden: ty
- [15:35] Kallista Destiny: Thanks Coyot
- [15:35] Drew Bhalti: have the funz coyot
- [15:35] Maestro Linden: however, parcel rez rules are based on where the root prim is located
- [15:36] Maestro Linden: so if you drag the linkset on the rezzable parcel, but the root prim would fall on an adjacent parcel that's set to disallow building,
- [15:36] Maestro Linden: you might see that error.
- [15:36] Maestro Linden: I need to try it out
- [15:36] Theresa Tennyson: I've always had trouble predicting where boxes, etc. would rezz.
- [15:36] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: i had this error already maestro for largue unlinked object
- [15:36] Whirly Fizzle: Its happening woth single prims though, at least in the places I went to look at where it was reported
- [15:37] Whirly Fizzle: *with
- [15:37] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: all i had to do is rez it more on a corner to have it working
- [15:37] Whirly Fizzle: Very stange
- [15:37] Motor Loon: "surface" you try to rezz on can also cause a mis-rez
- [15:37] Oskar Linden: weird
- [15:37] Whirly Fizzle: LL support were stumped too lol
- [15:37] Maestro Linden: are you talking about 7902 or the 'rez at last position' issue, whirly?
- [15:37] TankMaster Finesmith: thats nothing new
- [15:38] Maestro Linden: for svc-7907, I wouldn't be surprised if it happened with any object
- [15:38] Flame of Jira: [#SVC-7907] "Restore to last position" TPV feature appears broken if you dont have rez rights at <0,0,0> on the region https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7907
- [15:38] Whirly Fizzle: 7902
- [15:38] Maestro Linden: hmm
- [15:38] Motor Loon: if you dont have rez rights, why would you expect to be able to rez?!
- [15:38] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: svc-7902
- [15:38] Flame of Jira: [#SVC-7902] Problem of not being able to rez on my land continues https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7902
- [15:39] Theresa Tennyson: 7902-ish issues seem to be hitting Linden home owners.
- [15:39] Theresa Tennyson: The problem is now "Restore to Last Location" wants you to have rezz rights at 0,0,0 as well.
- [15:39] Maestro Linden: Well, I don't know about Rowena's case in the sandbox, but in Beth's case, her parcel is rather narrow, which gave me that idea...
- [15:40] Whirly Fizzle: I went to have a look at Astrids land, VWR-28905 . You could build a fresh prim. But pick that prim up & try to rerez it in the same place and it was trying to rez it outside the region
- [15:40] Flame of Jira: [#VWR-28905] rezz no prims https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-28905
- [15:40] Motor Loon: Probably related to how the viewer "do" that trick
- [15:40] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: the only issue i had with restore is that a couple of stationary movable prims where missing, afaik the house i rezzed had it movable scripted elevator gone
- [15:41] Maestro Linden: How did you know it was trying to rez outside the region, Whilry? did the error message give off-world coordinates?
- [15:41] Whirly Fizzle: Yes...
- [15:41] Whirly Fizzle: Second Life: Can't rez object at { -10.8699, 48.7472, 73.8369 } because the owner of this land does not allow it. Use the land tool to see land ownership.
- [15:41] Maestro Linden: Odd
- [15:41] Oskar Linden: that's out of this world!
- [15:41] Lucia Nightfire: heh
- [15:41] Widely Linden: he
- [15:41] TankMaster Finesmith: well, this region anyway
- [15:41] Widely Linden: ha
- [15:42] Maestro Linden: I think we'll just try to figure out a simple repro case for 7902, and import it then
- [15:42] Oskar Linden: cool
- [15:42] Oskar Linden: thanks maestro
- [15:42] Maestro Linden: given what some of you said, maybe my theory is wrong
- [15:42] Oskar Linden: but you're the Maestro!
- [15:43] Theresa Tennyson: It sure sounds like something changed recently.
- [15:43] Maestro LindenMaestro Linden bends reality to suit his worldview
- [15:43] Lucia Nightfire: Maestro, have you looked anymore into PATHBUG-122 ?
- [15:43] Flame of Jira: [#PATHBUG-122] Pathfinding regions break third party viewer's client phantom feature. https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/PATHBUG-122
- [15:43] Kallista Destiny: I reject your reality and substitute my own.
- [15:43] Oskar Linden: pathbug stuff can be saved for the pathfinding UG
- [15:43] Oskar Linden: after this meeting
- [15:43] Oskar Linden: it makes more sense to talk about them in there
- [15:44] Oskar Linden: if we talk about it here Falcon will feel left out
- [15:44] Oskar Linden: and I don't want to hurt his feelings
- [15:44] Oskar Linden: whirly what are your thoughts on the pathfinding bold text you mentioned? https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Pathfinding_Quick_Start_Guide
- [15:44] Theresa Tennyson: Are there any sims on Aditi with the region crossing code?
- [15:44] Oskar Linden: because I'm curious
- [15:44] TankMaster FinesmithTankMaster Finesmith thinks oskar is secretly sick of PF bugs :D
- [15:44] Whirly Fizzle: This is what has me concerned....
- [15:44] Whirly Fizzle: For those on regions switched to Pathfinding code! You will need to use the linkset tools to change the pathfinding attributes of the objects on your region to improve region performance!
By default, all object are set to Moveable Obstacle (except terrain). You will need to set walls, trees, fences, etc to Static Obstacle. Set floors and other areas that need to be walkable to Walkable.
- [15:45] Whirly Fizzle: That anyone who has land or objects ezzed on land, will need to set their objects correctly
- [15:45] Whirly Fizzle: Most users probably dont even know what PF is
- [15:45] arton Rotaru: yeah
- [15:45] Whirly Fizzle: Or that they will need to do any special setting up ince its rolled out
- [15:45] Whirly Fizzle: *once
- [15:45] Jonathan Yap: But all those regions are volunteer regions, so the owners should set things, right?
- [15:45] Kallista Destiny: Most regikon owners/EM you mean
- [15:45] Whirly Fizzle: You average small parcel tennant will have no clue about this
- [15:45] Rex Cronon: unless they have pets that use PF do they really need to worry about PF?
- [15:46] Theresa Tennyson: Will the pathfinding code eventually be on ALL regions though?
- [15:46] TankMaster Finesmith: now, sure, jonathan, but what about when it gets roled out everywhere?
- [15:46] Maestro Linden: Theresa: eventually, yes
- [15:46] Draconis Neurocam: people will more than likely bring pathfinding things into sims, once it becomes popular on the marketplace
- [15:46] Kallista Destiny: Most likley everywhere
- [15:46] Jonathan Yap: tank, I guess if the EM is smart enough to use the PF tools they can deal with other configuration issues
- [15:46] Whirly Fizzle: Thats why I was curious iof that setup will need to be done once PF rolls out, or if its just because its in beta this needs done
- [15:47] TankMaster Finesmith: and if they arent?
- [15:47] Oskar Linden: Maestro?
- [15:47] Maestro Linden: If they don't setup the region for pathfinding?
- [15:47] Maestro Linden: Then the region will have higher physics time
- [15:47] Matu: There is a jira somewhere asking for an option to turn on/off PF for EM, that could help
- [15:47] Jonathan Yap: yes, what is the default for PF, just the ground is PF-able?
- [15:47] Theresa Tennyson: And on the Mainland you get the lots owned by people that dont' even remember the own them.
- [15:47] Whirly Fizzle: This is a huge change to established workflow on managing prims on your land
- [15:47] Maestro Linden: Yep Jonathan, only the ground is walkable by default
- [15:48] Maestro Linden: You may want to bring this up at the pathfinding huddle in 12 minutes
- [15:48] Oskar Linden: it would be good to discuss there as well
- [15:48] Oskar Linden: Thanks Whirly
- [15:48] Whirly Fizzle: Also, on regions where there are lots of tennants, some may make the required changes & some may not. Thats going to lead to decreased region performance
- [15:48] Lucia Nightfire: where is that meeting at btw
- [15:48] Theresa Tennyson: Won't homeowners on rented lands need to set up their homes to be walkable too?
- [15:49] Maestro Linden: the home creators could do that
- [15:49] Maestro Linden: you can configure objects you own, of course
- [15:49] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: pathfinding should be like push Whirly, toggale from estate and parcel setting to allow/disallow it
- [15:49] Oskar Linden: probably sellers of PF pets would need to ship with setup guides
- [15:49] Oskar Linden: or FAQs
- [15:50] Motor Loon: Pathtest1 Lucia
- [15:50] Maestro Linden: pathtest1 hit another crash bug today :)
- [15:50] Lucia Nightfire: heh, offline
- [15:50] Rex Cronon: it is kind of bad when your pets need a manual:)
- [15:50] Maestro Linden: Pathtest2 as well, actually
- [15:50] Motor Loon: looks offline too
- [15:50] Motor Loon: then Pathtest3
- [15:50] Theresa Tennyson: Would things need to be modifiable to set them up for pathfinding?
- [15:50] Motor Loon: °͜°
- [15:50] TankMaster Finesmith: pets should have manuals anyway
- [15:50] Maestro Linden: which is why we didn't deploy to Agni earlier today
- [15:50] TankMaster Finesmith: same with kids
- [15:50] Maestro Linden: no Theresa
- [15:50] Maestro Linden: you don't need mod perms
- [15:51] Maestro Linden: except if you want to toggle the 'phantom' flag among the pathfinding options
- [15:51] Theresa Tennyson: Well, THAT'S good.
- [15:51] Nalates Urriah: OSkar, would warn Falcon of the login and tp problems we had...
- [15:52] Oskar Linden: those were transient issues Nalates
- [15:53] Oskar Linden: they are gone now
- [15:53] Maestro Linden: Except if somebody had just requested a roll of that pathfinding regions
- [15:53] Nalates Urriah: My world map looks strange still... but ok
- [15:53] Maestro Linden: :^)
- [15:54] Oskar Linden: ok guys we have 7 minutes left. Any more issues to discuss?
- [15:54] TankMaster Finesmith: whats the meaning of second life?
- [15:54] TankMaster Finesmith: :D
- [15:54] Oskar Linden: 42
- [15:54] TankMaster Finesmith: ^
- [15:54] Nalates Urriah: Yes 42
- [15:54] Theresa Tennyson: Are you going to set up areas in Aditi with the new region crossing code once that's further along?e that
- [15:54] Yuzuru Jewell: On the map Here is offline. and may land sale persels..
- [15:54] Oskar Linden: yes Theresa
- [15:54] Maestro Linden: I'm not sure there's a new build yet, Theresa
- [15:55] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: An error has occurred: You may not want to partner with yourself.
- [15:55] Whirly Fizzle: lol
- [15:55] Kallista Destiny: But I love me
- [15:55] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: i been wanted to for years, but the website wont let me :I
- [15:56] Rex Cronon: get a mirror:)
- [15:56] arton Rotaru: lol
- [15:56] Oskar Linden: :-)
- [15:56] Maestro Linden: Theresa: the region "Mesh Sandbox 4" is running that region crossing code
- [15:56] Maestro Linden: but unfortunately its neighbors (if there are any) are not
- [15:56] Maestro Linden: so you can't effectively test region crossing there
- [15:56] Theresa Tennyson: Okay....
- [15:56] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: fix it
- [15:57] Kallista Destiny: That was being discussed in the Open soruce meeting. (Mirrors)
- [15:57] Maestro Linden: anyway, that's just the version that failed in yesterday's RC deploy
- [15:57] Whirly Fizzle: There used to be (mostly) working SL mirrors. Windlight broke them
- [15:57] Whirly Fizzle: They chopped your head off in ML mode though lol
- [15:57] Oskar Linden: :-)
- [15:58] Oskar Linden: ok everyone. thanks for coming this week!
- [15:58] FuzzyWuff Yaffle: i want a refund
- [15:58] Oskar Linden: there won't be code to promote to main channel next week
