* Over on SLDev Philip Linden talked about a project for a summer intern to do mocap gesture recognition with a standard webcam that would display somehow in the virtual world.  This isn't meant to be full mocap for animation; it's just meant to indicate conversational cues.  See [[Gesture_Recognition]].  So the questions are:
* ''(Edit the page to add yours here!)''
**  Which gestures are worth recognizing?
**  How do you "mute" (I guess that would be "blind") the camera?
**  Should it be a selective blinding, e.g. monitor the face but not the hands or body, or the hands only, or the position only?
**  Can you used canned animations for display or do you need puppeteering?
**  Would this be useful for one-on-one conversations?  Cassual group conversation?  Formal presentations?
**  Do the types of gestures used depend on the situation?  Maybe monitor walking movements for a formal presentation, but not when the presenter is sitting at the computer.
**  Should there be lots of configuration options or few?
**  And so on...
Unfortunately, I cannot make the live meeting, but I think if you invite Merov Linden (he showed up at an earlier meeting) he would be very interested in the topic, since he is, I believe, the mentor for the summer intern.([[User:Mm Alder|Mm Alder]] 17:46, 8 June 2009 (UTC))
