- [15:00] Oskar Linden: 3 PM!
- [15:00] Oskar Linden: ding ding ding
- [15:00] Ceawlin Steamweaver: Using 4 at the moment, just because that's how many it takes to cache the filename hashes to texture tileset mappings. :<
- [15:00] Oskar Linden: :-)
- [15:00] Chaley May: oh
- [15:00] ATechwolf Foxclaw: and sim is at .77 TD. :-)
- [15:00] Yuu Nakamichi: :P
- [15:00] Psi Merlin: Hi Oskar, Everyone
- [15:00] Ceawlin Steamweaver: ( But the 4th one is doing most of the work, anyway, Ima be quiet nao. :P )
- [15:00] Oskar Linden: slightly lower attendance today
- [15:02] Second Life: Beta Server Office Hours right now in the Morris region. Come keep Oskar company.

- [15:04] Oskar Linden: here is the agenda
- [15:04] Oskar Linden: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Beta_Server_Office_Hours#Agenda
- [15:04] Sebastean Steamweaver: collides with a linden
- [15:05] Oskar Linden: is kelly coming?
- [15:05] Lil Linden: what's up d00dz
- [15:05] Psi Merlin: Hi Maestro and Lil
- [15:05] Oskar Linden: hey lil
- [15:05] Oskar Linden: and meastro
- [15:05] Gench Laxness: Mostly just bored, curious, and happened to be here at the right time.
- [15:05] Maestro Linden: yep, Kelly just told me that he's coming
- [15:05] Sebastean Steamweaver: There's Kelly :)
- [15:05] Sebastean Steamweaver: Hey all
- [15:05] Maestro Linden: hi everybody
- [15:05] Yuu Nakamichi: HI sebas, psi
- [15:05] Lil Linden: so who's loving the 1.38 action this week?
- [15:05] Oskar Linden: sooooooooooooo 1.38
- [15:05] Lil Linden: ducks the flying cabbage
- [15:05] Oskar Linden: let's talk about it
- [15:06] Yuu Nakamichi: Hi Oskar, Lil, Maestro
- [15:06] Oskar Linden: I have never seen a server version more loved
- [15:06] Yuu Nakamichi: heh
- [15:06] Kaluura Boa: First, why was it rolled back?
- [15:06] Oskar Linden: when we had to roll back people cried
- [15:06] Oskar Linden: so here's the thing
- [15:06] ATechwolf Foxclaw: Content creator was working fevershelly to get updates ready for the full rollout only to have the carpte yank out from under them.
- [15:06] Oskar Linden: we rolled on tuesday morning
- [15:06] Kelly Linden: There is a bug saving some mono scripts.
- [15:06] Oskar Linden: we noticed one region that was having scripts crashing
- [15:06] Gooden Uggla: oh geez, ghost scripts again?
- [15:07] Oskar Linden: that was Roberto's egglebury region
- [15:07] Yuu Nakamichi: hm
- [15:07] Oskar Linden: we watched the issue and thought it was isolated
- [15:07] Yuu Nakamichi: poor roberto
- [15:07] Oskar Linden: next morning I started getting a lot of reports
- [15:07] Oskar Linden: once I found that sold objects with no mod were having scripts crash I knew that was bad
- [15:07] Oskar Linden: in particular it was the ozimals bunnies
- [15:07] Oskar Linden: :-(
- [15:07] Oskar Linden: we killed bunnies
- [15:08] Kaluura Boa: =^_^=
- [15:08] Yuu Nakamichi: nuuu
- [15:08] Latif Khalifa: i knew Oskar was evil!
- [15:08] Merato Zilz: ohnose, not the bunnies
- [15:08] Ceawlin Steamweaver: builds a fire and spit. >_>
- [15:08] Oskar Linden: I couldn't live with myself if we let 1.38 go into easter weekend knowing it was a bunny killer
- [15:08] Gooden Uggla: he shot a bunny in Reno just to watch it die...
- [15:08] Tizzy Teardrop: It's got nasty big pointy teeth!
- [15:08] Merato Zilz: how suiting
- [15:08] ATechwolf Foxclaw: Ooo...freshlly kill bunnies. I like that. Easy food. mamamahahaha
- [15:08] Oskar Linden: so after discussion with the relevant teams and individuals we decided to roll back
- [15:08] Charity Stohr: facepalms.
- [15:08] Sebastean Steamweaver: Understandable. But sad :(
- [15:08] Oskar Linden: this was a perfect example of why we broadened out pilot region pool
- [15:09] Oskar Linden: the 1.36 pilot would not have caught this
- [15:09] Oskar Linden: so that is a win
- [15:09] Oskar Linden: as for the technical details
- [15:09] Sebastean Steamweaver: I was very happy to get 1.38 if just for a little while :)
- [15:09] ANSI Soderstrom: why are still 1.38 servers in agni online ?
- [15:09] Maestro Linden: yeah, a 100% rollback would be 5x worse =)
- [15:09] Oskar Linden: kelly would you like to share with us?
- [15:09] Gooden Uggla: thart's a pretty good reason, even if we're really disappointed
- [15:09] Gooden Uggla: kill the bunnies off next week?
- [15:10] Oskar Linden: kelly?
- [15:10] Oskar Linden: or maestro can
- [15:10] Oskar Linden: kelly might be actually fixing the issue as we speak
- [15:10] Merato Zilz: ~_^
- [15:10] Maestro Linden: ANSI, I don't see any 1.38 regions online in AGNI
- [15:10] Oskar Linden: roughly it involved sims getting into a bad state after shutting down in 1.38
- [15:10] ANSI Soderstrom: i gave oskar a link
- [15:10] ANSI Soderstrom: with a 1.38 online in agni
- [15:11] Oskar Linden: this made some scripts get into a state where they could not be properly deserialized after serialization
- [15:11] ANSI Soderstrom: sim "Tussock"
- [15:11] ANSI Soderstrom: ints not the only one
- [15:11] Gooden Uggla: no one wants to go thru that again
- [15:11] Kelly Linden: Some times, some mono scripts, in some circumstances would have a corrupted serialization - either in simsave or maybe attachments on region cross or derez
- [15:11] Kelly Linden: once it is corrupted that save is broken until you recompile.
- [15:11] Oskar Linden: ANSI I explained when you asked me before
- [15:12] ANSI Soderstrom: :( sorry
- [15:12] Oskar Linden: :-)
- [15:12] Oskar Linden: np
- [15:12] Maestro Linden: looks like Tussock is running 1.36.4 (I just logged in there to check)
- [15:12] Gooden Uggla: it was a good first try, when do you think you'll be ready to pilot roll again?
- [15:12] Oskar Linden: we need to fix the issue first
- [15:12] Oskar Linden: maestro _just_ got a solid repro in place
- [15:13] ATechwolf Foxclaw: I had one other user that reported on incorrect sim in help about. Relog fixed it.
- [15:13] Merato Zilz: wonderful
- [15:13] Oskar Linden: there are a few peripheral issues that we are trying to make sure are also fixed
- [15:13] Kelly Linden: We have a first pass at a fix, we have a very shaky repo (try X a bunch of times and sometimes it fails) so we will see if we can get confidence in our fix.
- [15:13] Gooden Uggla: no estimate?
- [15:13] Oskar Linden: (solid/shaky) kelly and I use diff terms :-)
- [15:13] Kelly Linden: next week would be super awesome. but who knows.
- [15:13] Kelly Linden: solid means I can do it on command on my dev machine and walk the code when it happens. :p
- [15:13] Gooden Uggla: would 2 weeks be a good outside number?
- [15:13] Oskar Linden: we are approaching a no change window
- [15:14] Oskar Linden: that means we don't push new code to the grid before a weekend
- [15:14] Gooden Uggla: we a;ways appreciate that oskar
- [15:14] Gooden Uggla: always*
- [15:14] ATechwolf Foxclaw: I hope you are willing to update a few maingrid regines that requested on the pilot roll so at least content creaters have the long weekend to work on new goodies.
- [15:14] Oskar Linden: we appreciate it more Gooden :-) I don't like working all my weekends
- [15:14] Sebastean Steamweaver: Approaching? So there's a -small- chancewe might get another roll? :)
- [15:15] Oskar Linden: not sure we can Atechwolf :-(
- [15:15] Oskar Linden: I'm sorry
- [15:15] Rex Cronon: hello everybody
- [15:15] Merato Zilz: if you dont mind me asking
- [15:15] Kelly Linden: it would take a miracle to get anything out before next week.
- [15:15] Merato Zilz: how many weeks back is 1.38
- [15:15] Oskar Linden: well. uncertain yet
- [15:15] Merato Zilz: when was 1.38 released
- [15:15] Sebastean Steamweaver: All righty, that's fine Kelly - I will be looking forward to next week then.
- [15:15] Oskar Linden: we don't have a fix yet
- [15:15] Oskar Linden: we are testing a fix
- [15:15] Ceawlin Steamweaver: I'm actually somewhat relieved. Gives me more time to catch up on all the porting to fastprimparams that I wasn't going to have done by Tuesday. XD
- [15:16] Oskar Linden: step 1. get a fix
- [15:16] Oskar Linden: step 2. test the fix
- [15:16] Oskar Linden: step 3. plan the new deploy
- [15:16] Gooden Uggla: i have a beach club and harleen's multiplayer gaming region to worry about on weekends, don't be offended if i have other priorities
- [15:16] Sebastean Steamweaver: Ceawlin, I have mixed feelings hehe.
- [15:16] Oskar Linden: you will be the first to know either on the email list or on the agni sl beta group chat
- [15:16] Kelly Linden: step 4. mai tais
- [15:16] Ima Mechanique: Merato. It wasn't realeased, just a pilot roll out on Tuesday
- [15:16] Sebastean Steamweaver: On the one hand, I can work here on Aditi. On the other, for some reason, having it on the main grid gave me extra inspiration to get things done :P
- [15:17] Oskar Linden: I understand SS
- [15:17] Ceawlin Steamweaver: It's that impending dread of looming deadlines. :P
- [15:17] Oskar Linden: so any other 1.38 related questions?
- [15:17] ATechwolf Foxclaw: Most all the work was done on here, but porting 100 scripts and debugging them on maingrid takes time.
- [15:17] Oskar Linden: kelly do we need any help from anyone here?
- [15:17] Sebastean Steamweaver: Nope - mine've been answered :)
- [15:18] Oskar Linden: maestro any more repro's you're trying to narrow down?
- [15:18] Oskar Linden: liek the mystitool hud breaking?
- [15:18] Latif Khalifa: anyone made a resizer script? so that i don't have to :D
- [15:18] Hg Beeks: Yup.
- [15:18] Maestro Linden: I'm having trouble reproing the mystitool hud crashing
- [15:18] Oskar Linden: Latif! your laziness is not on the agenda :-)
- [15:18] Kelly Linden: If anyone can give a solid 100% repro of a script crashing (and NOT of a script giving an error on rez)
- [15:18] Latif Khalifa: Oskar, it's called promotion of open source! :P
- [15:18] Hg Beeks: I'm thinking I'll release it full perm through some groups and pray it actually takes.
- [15:19] Oskar Linden: still not on the agenda
- [15:19] Maestro Linden: if anybody has a script that reliably crashes with the System.InvalidOperationException message that people reported in SVC-5600, that would be helpful
- [15:19] JIRA-helper: http//jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-5600:
- [#SVC-5600] is not: valid due to the current state of the object
- [15:19] Ima Mechanique: ditto what Latif said ;-)
- [15:19] Oskar Linden: thanks maestro
- [15:19] Oskar Linden: I'll email that to the group as well
- [15:19] Maestro Linden: (we think it's caused by the same problem as the serialization error, but it would be nice if we could test for that specific error)
- [15:20] Oskar Linden: next on the agenda
- [15:20] Oskar Linden: "Are Estate bans broken again?"
- [15:20] Oskar Linden: I'm still getting intermittent reports that estate bans are not working
- [15:20] Oskar Linden: but haven't been shown it yet
- [15:20] Oskar Linden: anyone who can reliably repro that in a sim on AGNI with test accoutns or wahtever please let me know
- [15:21] Merato Zilz: how often is itermittent?
- [15:21] Oskar Linden: yes
- [15:21] Merato Zilz: plausability of people not knowing how to use estate ban tools?
- [15:21] Oskar Linden: no
- [15:21] Hg Beeks: We've had issues of the parcel ban list mysteriously emptying on us, but no problems with estate bans that I know of.
- [15:21] Merato Zilz: hm
- [15:21] Rocky Pickles: possible exploit in the wild?
- [15:21] Oskar Linden: I'm guessing there is some small glitch or not common exploit
- [15:21] Oskar Linden: but I've only heard rumors
- [15:21] ANSI Soderstrom: iam banned from a lot of sims in agni, i will test it till tomorrow :)
- [15:22] Rocky Pickles: so needs repro
- [15:22] Oskar Linden: haha
- [15:22] Merato Zilz: i would assume im double anyone here.
- [15:22] Oskar Linden: so let's talk abouty Havok 7
- [15:22] Tizzy Teardrop: coughs.
- [15:22] Oskar Linden: last weeks meeting... :-)
- [15:22] Merato Zilz: with the possibility of tizzers.
- [15:22] Oskar Linden: was quite fun
- [15:22] Merato Zilz: agreed
- [15:23] Gooden Uggla: i've been assuming that certain bot programs can avoid estate bans *hint*
- [15:23] Oskar Linden: it got so out of hand so fast and I apologize if I was a little short with people
- [15:23] Oskar Linden: but we got good info
- [15:23] Ima Mechanique: speak for yourself ;-) multiple relogs is not my idea of fun
- [15:23] Oskar Linden: in the future I might plan a more layered introduction
- [15:23] Oskar Linden: anyway
- [15:23] Oskar Linden: for those not in the loop we are testing havok on ADITI now
- [15:24] Oskar Linden: To people who are members of the group Second Life Beta
- [15:24] Chaley May: racing around crashing into people ion the drag car was fun
- [15:24] Oskar Linden: which is free and open to join
- [15:24] Latif Khalifa: nothing wrong with pre-release stuff crashing, much better than letting crashes slip into the release ;)
- [15:24] Oskar Linden: we have one simhost running 4 havok 7 regions
- [15:24] Oskar Linden: Oatmeal 6, 7, 10, and 11
- [15:24] Oskar Linden: the other oatmeal regions are still Havok 4
- [15:24] ATechwolf Foxclaw: Are they up? Last time I was there, they was down.
- [15:24] Ima Mechanique: I was there earlier Oskar, they were running 1.37? Is that right
- [15:24] Gooden Uggla: apologizes again for rezzing a wave and attempting to surf
- [15:24] Oskar Linden: Bugs can be entered here:
- * https://jira.secondlife.com/secure/CreateIssue!default.jspa (you need to be logged in first)
- * Project: "2. Second Life Service - SVC"
- * Issue Type: "Bug"
- * Affects Version/s: Havok 7 Beta (Unreleased Version)
- [15:25] Falcon Linden: Oskar, actually, let me correct you on that
- [15:25] Merato Zilz: they all seemed to be up before the meeting
- [15:25] Oskar Linden: sure falcon
- [15:25] Oskar Linden: Ima, the version number will not match the release number for those regions since they are still in development
- [15:25] Tizzy Teardrop: Is there a changelog that outlines the features of H7?
- [15:25] Falcon Linden: We are running release builds of Havok 7 on...Oatmeal 6, 7, 10, and 11. We're also running 3 debug regions, on 9, 13, and 14
- [15:26] Oskar Linden: not yet tozzy
- [15:26] Oskar Linden: oh
- [15:26] Oskar Linden: I didn't know that
- [15:26] Falcon Linden: I'm asking that if you find a crash on 6, 7, 10, or 11, you please reproduce it on 9, 13, or 14
- [15:26] Oskar Linden: debug of H7?
- [15:26] Oskar Linden: oh
- [15:26] Oskar Linden: ok
- [15:26] Latif Khalifa: ok, cool
- [15:26] Falcon Linden: And PLEASE submit a jira. If I don't know what you did to cause it, I can't fix it...easily.
- [15:26] Oskar Linden: we should have an H7 region out as well right? to test if it is a new issue or not?
- [15:27] Falcon Linden: those are H7 regions. Any other region on Aditi i H4
- [15:27] Oskar Linden: I can't stress that enough. without filed jiras for issues we can't fix anything
- [15:27] Falcon Linden: is*
- [15:27] Yuu Nakamichi: btw, do you have a bit of water in one of the areas?
- [15:27] Oskar Linden: yes Yuu
- [15:27] Yuu Nakamichi: cool
- [15:27] Ima Mechanique: 10/11 havve water
- [15:27] Oskar Linden: and don't go nuts, but Oatmeal 11 is publicly terraformable
- [15:27] Lares Carter: could we have more water than just an edge?
- [15:27] Yuu Nakamichi: sweet
- [15:27] Oskar Linden: ok!
- [15:27] Falcon Linden: There was a frequent crash over the past two days relating to people adding large numbers of objects at once. I can't reproduce it. If anyone knows how it was generated, please pass that alng
- [15:27] Oskar Linden: seriously. don't make me revoke that
- [15:28] Merato Zilz: so... any possibility with h7 we might bump the maximum prims on a vehicle up
- [15:28] Merato Zilz: nudges
- [15:28] Falcon Linden: Nope. But I'm working on a feature that would debut post Havok 7 and allow you to have prims in a linkset with no physics representation at all
- [15:28] Ima Mechanique: hehe the same chance a snowball has in hell
- [15:28] Hg Beeks: Is there a page with general changes planned with the move to H7?
- [15:28] Falcon Linden: so you could have lots of prims on a vehicle, if <32 have physics shapes
- [15:28] Oskar Linden: working on it HG
- [15:29] Hg Beeks: So I'm not asking a bunch of pointless questions.
- [15:29] Tizzy Teardrop: Awesome Falcon.
- [15:29] Falcon Linden: There are no changes scheduled for the initial release
- [15:29] Falcon Linden: it should all be under the hood type stuff
- [15:29] Hg Beeks: rgr.
- [15:29] Latif Khalifa: how often does havok rev the engine?
- [15:30] Falcon Linden: Every 6 months or so
- [15:30] Falcon Linden: If I'm able to, I'll attempt to keep up with their release cycle
- [15:30] Latif Khalifa: nice
- [15:30] Sebastean Steamweaver: Falcon, on the JIRA where we discussed raycasting, and collision "bumpers" is that a feature which you think would be reasonable post - release of H7?
- [15:30] Falcon Linden: yes, down the road
- [15:30] Merato Zilz: that would be a HUGE improvement
- [15:30] Rocky Pickles: it should be noted that not all revs of havok are worth re-working a ton of code for
- [15:31] Falcon Linden: I'm curious to know how you know that
- [15:31] Rocky Pickles: if you diff them.. you will see :)
- [15:31] Falcon Linden: I use to write code for Havok :)
- [15:31] Falcon Linden: used*
- [15:32] Oskar Linden: oh snap. rocky just called out your code!
- [15:32] Kelly Linden: I was gonna say there was a pretty good chance Falcon has intimate knowledge of the differences in havok versions
- [15:32] Rocky Pickles: just saying.. LL is not about to do a major overhaul for every release of havoc
- [15:32] Falcon Linden: No, and as long as we keep up to date, we should never have to
- [15:32] Falcon Linden: That's the nice thing about not jumping 3 versions at once: the changes are minimal in effort, but have a decent payoff
- [15:32] Latif Khalifa: hopefully havok folks are not silly to change api dramatically between rleases :)
- [15:33] Falcon Linden: The main advantages of upgrades are bug fixes and performance enhancements
- [15:33] Falcon Linden: We all love both of those
- [15:34] Oskar Linden: any more havok questions for the master?
- [15:34] Falcon Linden: Anyhow, let me just stress again: please file jiras
- [15:34] Sebastean Steamweaver: Where do we leave our gifts of gratitude?
- [15:34] Falcon Linden: Include repro instructions.
- [15:34] Ima Mechanique: the main disadvantages being enhancements introducing bugs, and fixes slowing performance ;-)
- [15:34] Oskar Linden: Falcon, what areas could people poke on that would be the most beneficial to you?
- [15:35] Rocky Pickles: heee heee poke 04h, 1
- [15:35] Oskar Linden: smirsk
- [15:35] Falcon Linden: Vehicles, flight type stuff, rezzing, derezzing. Especially scripting things
- [15:35] Oskar Linden: is beginning to like Rocky Pickles
- [15:35] Falcon Linden: I tested most of the stuff you can do without scripts
- [15:35] Drew Dwi: any chances to linden damage stuff?
- [15:35] Drew Dwi: changes even*
- [15:35] Ima Mechanique: one H7 question. Are sim pass-offs supposed to be improved?
- [15:35] Sebastean Steamweaver: has a little droid which will be perfect for that.
- [15:36] Falcon Linden: But I'm not much of a scripter. I'm counting on you guys to try out various scripts. But be sure to file a jira with the script or an asset id
- [15:36] Falcon Linden: Drew: no
- [15:36] Falcon Linden: Ima: They may be slightly improved simply because performance is improved, but no work has been done on the hand-offs directly
- [15:36] Object: Dancer: is logged in!
- [15:37] Ima Mechanique: I was having terrible pass-offs. and drifting some too
- [15:37] Object: Dancer: left the Area! Logging out...
- [15:37] Ima Mechanique: but bumper boats are no fun on your own ;-)
- [15:37] Falcon Linden: Pass-offs involving the debug sims will be bad. In fact, anything on the debug sims will be painfully slow
- [15:37] Ima Mechanique: I was on 10/11 in the water
- [15:37] Falcon Linden: But highly informative, so test on release sims and repro in debug sims
- [15:38] Falcon Linden: Ima: Hmm, not sure then, those are both release, but I've heard others say they had better transitions
- [15:38] Falcon Linden: so I suspect it has to do with other factors
- [15:38] Maestro Linden: actually falcon, asset IDs can be difficult to get without special powers. One thing that Andrew had people do for H4 testing was for them to send him copies of the objects, with the Jira issue # in the object name. I think that would work for our H7 testing as well.
- [15:38] Falcon Linden: Everyone, do what Maestro said :)
- [15:39] Sebastean Steamweaver: takes note
- [15:39] Fisher Linden: heh, ... that 's always my motto too!
- [15:39] Latif Khalifa: sending no transfer vehicles can prove to be difficult :P
- [15:39] ATechwolf Foxclaw: Copies of object to _who_?
- [15:39] Sebastean Steamweaver: The Fisher appears.
- [15:39] Maestro Linden: to Falcon, I suppose
- [15:39] Sebastean Steamweaver: You're a very mysterious linden Fisher.
- [15:39] Fisher Linden: I've been here for hours!
- [15:40] Ima Mechanique: I think Andrew might be surprised to receive surprise H7 gifts ;-). Better give them to Falcon
- [15:40] Fisher Linden: boring is a better word
- [15:40] Hg Beeks: It's true, he got here some time ago. Just been lurking in the shadows.
- [15:40] Falcon Linden: Sorry guys, my viewer is a debug build and very slow. So I'm having issues. But yes, send objects to me
- [15:40] Falcon Linden: here on Aditi
- [15:40] Hg Beeks: New version of 2.0, Falcon?
- [15:41] Oskar Linden: :-)
