- [11:59] Alexa Linden: Kona may be a bit late today so I'm driving this baby today
- [11:59] Alexa Linden: please wear your seat belts
- [12:00] Squirrel Wood: vwr-10971 - fps changes wildly when turning to / from a flock of people
- [12:00] Alexa Linden: and keep your hands and limbs in the car at all times
- [12:00] Squirrel Wood: vbo or not
- [12:00] Gordon Wendt: Squirrel, a bit out of order?
- [12:00] Bridie Linden: ty Alexa!!
- [12:00] Gordon Wendt: I meant in the listings
- [12:01] Alexa Linden: first up - https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-10311
- [12:01] Soft Linden: Woot. I like public meetings better. No voice.
- [12:01] Alexa Linden: Enable LipSync by default
- [12:01] Gordon Wendt: seems more like a feature request
- [12:01] Alexa Linden: it is
- [12:01] Gordon Wendt: and from the comments not an uncontroversial change
- [12:02] Prospero Tester: I like the idea myself
- [12:02] Alexa Linden: I do too
- [12:02] Soft Linden: Internally it's gotten a lot of discussion. This could be imported and linked to that.
- [12:02] Squirrel Wood: lip sync makes no sense for me :p
- [12:02] Aimee Trescothick: can't see any down side really
- [12:02] Gellan Glenelg: it's more "flap" than "sync" :(
- [12:02] Soft Linden: Some concern about whether to turn it on before it can detect glottal stops and similar.
- [12:02] Alexa Linden: lol
- [12:03] Squirrel Wood: turn it on ^^
- [12:03] Prospero Tester: Hm.
- [12:03] Squirrel Wood: more enabled features = more satisfied players
- [12:03] Prospero Tester: Mouth flapping is better than no mouth movement IMHO
- [12:03] Prospero Tester: generally just turns it on
- [12:03] Alexa Linden: I can tie to an internal one if you can dig it up for me
- [12:03] Soft Linden: Different people have different reads on it. I like it how it is now. Other people say it makes people look like fish.
- [12:03] Aimee Trescothick: it's a whole lot better than nothing
- [12:03] Aimee Trescothick: not perfect guaranteed
- [12:04] Gordon Wendt: hi Ella
- [12:04] Soft Linden: Alexa - DEV-22722 would be a good candidate.
- [12:04] Squirrel Wood: If it looks funny then turn it on ^^
- [12:04] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:04] Aimee Trescothick: lol Squirrel
- [12:04] Soft Linden: That's the JIRA for deciding what pref should be there and how. The default choice would be one consideration of that JIRA.
- [12:05] Alexa Linden: next is https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-11068
- [12:05] Aimee Trescothick: it would be good if people could chose whether it applied to them
- [12:05] Alexa Linden: Fixes for bugs in the spillover menus
- [12:05] Aimee Trescothick: then YOU get to chose whether you look like a fish
- [12:05] Kona Linden: Happy Monday Folks!
- [12:06] Squirrel Wood: Hoppy Monday to you too!
- [12:06] Gordon Wendt: If it's doing what he says it's doing then that looks like a good catch and a good fix
- [12:06] Soft Linden: This patch looks pretty straightforward. I'd import for viewer triage
- [12:06] Ellla McMahon: hello everyone :))
- [12:06] Alexa Linden: will do
- [12:06] Alexa Linden: Hi Ellla
- [12:07] Gordon Wendt: not surprising that he caught it while working on something else since the bug seems like an edge case
- [12:07] Alexa Linden: Nice wings Gordon :)
- [12:07] Gordon Wendt: thanks
- [12:07] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-11069
- [12:07] Gordon Wendt: let me know if they start causing lag issues
- [12:07] Alexa Linden: 1. Second Life Viewer - VWR
- Installer displays "China" in language selection
- Created: Saturday 02:16 PM Updated: Saturday 04:00 PM
- [12:07] Alexa Linden: ok odd
- [12:07] Alexa Linden: Installer displays "China" in language selection
- [12:08] Alexa Linden: grabbed too much
- [12:08] Phillip Vought: Ahh the freebie particle wings.. those things are all clientside lag ;)
- [12:08] Gordon Wendt: Phillip, these aren't freebies by any means
- [12:08] Soft Linden: Ha, yeah. Also viewer triage.
- [12:08] Alexa Linden: kk
- [12:09] Alexa Linden: next as we fly along
- [12:09] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-1207
- [12:09] Alexa Linden: Group land sales should pay immediately
- [12:09] Gellan Glenelg: bug? or feature request?
- [12:09] Soft Linden: That would be a feature request.
- [12:09] Soft Linden: And should also go by the fraud and land teams before any dev goes near it.
- [12:09] Alexa Linden: ok will move
- [12:09] Alexa Linden: agreed
- [12:10] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-10498
- [12:10] Alexa Linden: Scripts "Revert" to Prior Versions after Save
- [12:10] Gellan Glenelg: yeah - this happens a lot when working on HUD scripts... I've got used to keeping backups
- [12:10] Alexa Linden: ya, I was going to say
- [12:10] Alexa Linden: I do any script updates outside of the HUD for this reason
- [12:11] Alexa Linden: so I have a backup in case
- [12:11] Kona Linden: it's such a pain =(
- [12:11] Soft Linden: Only one vote?
- [12:11] Gellan Glenelg: there - 2 now (i'd not seen it before)
- [12:11] Alexa Linden: :)
- [12:12] Alexa Linden: it is a pain, I do agree
- [12:12] Squirrel Wood: I rez the hud inworld to work on it
- [12:12] Alexa Linden: mark with a last triaged date?
- [12:12] Soft Linden: I don't think there's enough for a dev to bite into yet. Yeah, I'd leave it for more comments unless QA is itchy.
- [12:12] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:12] Soft Linden: watches it tho
- [12:12] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3502
- [12:13] Alexa Linden: Windlight stops displaying prims after a while... empty regions
- [12:13] Gellan Glenelg: will try to get a solid repro (I think I know what will do it)
- [12:13] Aimee Trescothick: ooooooold issue
- [12:13] Kona Linden: Meh, QA is always itchy
- [12:13] Alexa Linden: ooh ya, it is
- [12:13] Gordon Wendt: oops, slipped through my radar
- [12:13] Gordon Wendt: my bad
- [12:13] Alexa Linden: I can ask if it's still a problem with the latest RC, etc
- [12:13] Squirrel Wood: ya. best to ask if still a problem there
- [12:13] Alexa Linden: no worries gordon, you do a great job :)
- [12:13] Squirrel Wood: try 1.22.3
- [12:14] Squirrel Wood: rc
- [12:14] Alexa Linden: yup yup
- [12:14] Aimee Trescothick: yeah, I vaguely remember that happening back then, long since resolved I think
- [12:14] Gellan Glenelg: didn't we triage a similar one last week - something about neighbouring regions' prims being culled?
- [12:14] Squirrel Wood: btw... regular client shows tooltips when hovering over lsl commands. rc fails at that
- [12:14] Soft Linden: Ralf also deserves a medal for using SL on a sub-800mhz machine.
- [12:14] Kona Linden: yeah, I've not heard of that issue for some time
- [12:14] Alexa Linden: ya, we did
- [12:14] Kona Linden: lol
- [12:14] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-905
- [12:15] Alexa Linden: teen grid events showing up on main site
- [12:15] Gordon Wendt: idk Gellan, we had a few weeks last month where last triage dates didn't seem to be assigned so the same issues may be coming back up if I didn't remember that we've already covered them
- [12:15] Kona Linden: That's an on again/off again issue for some reason
- [12:15] Gellan Glenelg: there was another one recently, main grid results showing in TG searches
- [12:15] Gordon Wendt: bug web team about that one since the events thing is they're system right?
- [12:16] Alexa Linden: ya we've had a couple on this subject
- [12:16] Soft Linden: Yeah, I'd import for web triage.
- [12:16] Phillip Vought: I had entire regions being redrawn.. if thats the one you meant gordon?
- [12:16] Alexa Linden: will do
- [12:16] Alexa Linden: ya, that was it phillip :)
- [12:16] Gordon Wendt: actually, you might want to ask whether it's web listings specific, in-world events search specific, or both?
- [12:17] Alexa Linden: next is https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-10698
- [12:17] Soft Linden: I'd import this as related to DEV-23677 "viewer hangs at Initializingmultimedia on first run after system start"
- [12:17] Alexa Linden: which we discussed in a different traige
- [12:18] Phillip Vought: ugh.. this is the 3rd time this ones up
- [12:18] Soft Linden: Or just make DEV-23677 the internal issue for it
- [12:18] Soft Linden: Also going to ask on the public issue if this only happens on the first run after reboot
- [12:18] Alexa Linden: ok - I'll link these together
- [12:18] Alexa Linden: thanks Soft
- [12:18] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/MISC-1954
- [12:19] Alexa Linden: Permissions given by another resident to another to edit their prims ...
- [12:19] Gordon Wendt: VWR-10698 is going in the textfile that I keep of issues to automatically cull as I see them
- [12:19] Gordon Wendt: better suited as a feature request I think to change the behvaior
- [12:19] Phillip Vought: you cant edit othets objects if they are locked
- [12:19] Soft Linden: I'd suspect they were trying to assign a no-trans texture to the other person's object
- [12:19] Gordon Wendt: *behavior
- [12:19] Soft Linden: Ah, or locked - good point too
- [12:20] Squirrel Wood: I believe the texture must be full perms
- [12:20] Alexa Linden: yup
- [12:20] Gordon Wendt: Admittedly the behavior is not generally what you'd expect and illogical but it's as intended I think
- [12:20] Soft Linden: No comments from others - I'd do contact support along with these other comments.
- [12:20] Soft Linden: adds comments
- [12:20] Gordon Wendt: in terms of the scripting issue
- [12:20] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:20] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-3505
- [12:20] Alexa Linden: Inventory items missing following recent asset server upgrades or resulting from griefer attacks
- [12:21] Gordon Wendt: Soft, you closed this one but someone reopened since it's still happening I guess
- [12:21] Alexa Linden: ummm
- [12:21] Soft Linden: The person who reopened doesn't say anything relating to the issue though, just that they got griefed with chat spammers.
- [12:21] Alexa Linden: I need to edit this one
- [12:21] Squirrel Wood: There was an inventory issue a couple days ago
- [12:21] Gordon Wendt: copies this over to a txt file before security through obscurity kicks in and it winds up in the SEC blackhole
- [12:22] Alexa Linden: ya... and pjira is a PG site
- [12:22] Soft Linden: Anyway, nothing actionable on this one. I'm going to needs-more-info on this again, clarifying that we need to know about more than just text spam.
- [12:22] Gordon Wendt: Alexa, naming names too
- [12:22] Alexa Linden: ya....
- [12:23] Alexa Linden: I'll take care of and contact the poster after the meeting
- [12:23] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-1501
- [12:23] Gordon Wendt: actually while your at it you might as well ban everyone who's griefed and can actually give a coherent JIRA issue on it daring not to put it on SEC </sarcasm>
- [12:23] Alexa Linden: Havok4 does not seem to have a mass-based llRezObject Throttle
- [12:23] Squirrel Wood: December 10th was the last MAJOR asset server failure I experienced
- [12:24] Soft Linden: Did Andrew assign this to himself, or was someone trying to be helpful?
- [12:24] Gordon Wendt: Alexa, seems like a feature request although it's a good point, there should be a mass based throttle since currently as long as I'm not recursive rezzing there is nothing to stop llrezobject from rezzing an object every .1 seconds
- [12:24] Soft Linden: Andrew did it.
- [12:24] Soft Linden: Alexa, this should be imported and assigned to Andrew to keep things in sync.
- [12:24] Soft Linden: Easy to lose an issue if it's only self-assigned publicly, not internally where all the work queues are.
- [12:25] Object: Hello,: Avatar!
- [12:25] Squirrel Wood: You can rez well over 200 objects as fast as possible before the grey goo filter kicks in
- [12:25] Squirrel Wood: so there IS a limit.
- [12:25] Soft Linden: It's from Feb so it may be since resolved, but Andrew would know for sure.
- [12:25] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:26] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-8680
- [12:26] Alexa Linden: Perms not being honored after transfer
- [12:26] Squirrel Wood: ah
- [12:26] Alexa Linden: old
- [12:26] Squirrel Wood: perms revert to original perms the prims had before being linked
- [12:26] Squirrel Wood: we had a similar one not long ago
- [12:26] Alexa Linden: yup
- [12:27] Alexa Linden: I'll ping tj for an update and probably link to a duplicate
- [12:27] Phli Foxchase: GRIEFER!
- [12:27] Kona Linden: lol
- [12:27] Gordon Wendt: sorry, just proving a point
- [12:27] Soft Linden: Alexa - it would be at least related to DEV-5912 internally.
- [12:27] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:27] Soft Linden: But not a dupe of that.
- [12:27] Alexa Linden: kk
- [12:28] Celierra Darling: (would anyone mind if I tack SVC-2956 onto the end of the list?)
- [12:28] Alexa Linden: last for today is https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-10971
- [12:28] Alexa Linden: sure, we can add that next :)
- [12:28] Alexa Linden: Frame rate (FPS) changes wildly with VBO enabled on an ATi Radeon 2900 XT
- [12:28] Kona Linden: Drivers related
- [12:28] Soft Linden: Is VBO enabled by default?
- [12:28] Soft Linden: If not, it's not really a bug.
- [12:28] Kona Linden: no
- [12:28] Soft Linden: VBO is going to be very inefficient on any card not supporting VBO.
- [12:29] Kona Linden: at least it used to not be
- [12:29] Soft Linden: I'll Needs-more-info with that question to be sure. Cool?
- [12:29] Alexa Linden: it wasn't the default in 1.22.3
- [12:29] Kona Linden: Soft, you might want to touch base with Zen or BigPapi on that one
- [12:30] Kona Linden: If i recall correctly, that was a topic of issue when I was testing that a couple of years back
- [12:30] Kona Linden: especially for ATI cards
- [12:30] Soft Linden: If Baloo comes back saying it is enabled, it would get pushed to maint-render where they'd see it for that.
- [12:30] Soft Linden: marked it up
- [12:31] Alexa Linden: and last is the issue Celierra brought up
- [12:31] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-2956
- [12:31] Alexa Linden: "Attempt to rez an object failed." after wearing from ground, quickly detaching, then attempting rez (possible inventory loss)
- [12:31] Alexa Linden: this I've seen I think in a jira
- [12:32] Alexa Linden: you can't wear from ground, detach and then find in your inventory
- [12:32] Alexa Linden: you need to have it on your inventory to land back there,,,, kind of thing
- [12:32] Gellan Glenelg: possible cause of all the AO losses?
- [12:32] Kona Linden: wait, if you dropped it first, you can
- [12:32] Alexa Linden: ya, I would say so Gellan
- [12:32] Gordon Wendt: It's related to VWR-6110 which is the OMG I HAVE TO ABUSE SHOWSTOPPER!!!! bug
- [12:32] Gellan Glenelg: lol
- [12:32] Soft Linden: Oof. This wants investigation.
- [12:32] Alexa Linden: especially since most people lose their huds after editing them
- [12:33] Squirrel Wood: serious investigation
- [12:33] Soft Linden: If we don't, we should be locking inventory db items against changes when they're in the process of being rezzed in world, etc
- [12:33] Squirrel Wood: and it requires people to be patient and not hurry
- [12:33] Alexa Linden: and I've seen notecards from the creators, telling people to put back in their inventory first
- [12:33] Alexa Linden: ya
- [12:33] Squirrel Wood: patience is the key to success
- [12:33] Alexa Linden: so I do think this ties to HUD losses
- [12:34] Gordon Wendt: what's really needed is a challenge response system when rezzing to ground or taking from inventory saying, do you have this object then a response saying yes I have the object
- [12:34] Gordon Wendt: and then maybe a third one saying ok I'll remove my copy then
- [12:34] Gordon Wendt: essentially a syn -> ack -> syn/ack type system
- [12:34] Soft Linden: Well, just having the server track when an object is being rezzed to world or to a HUD point and blocking other operations against that inventory line would be sufficient
- [12:34] Gordon Wendt: but I'm guessing that hasn't been done because it would mean a rewrite
- [12:34] Squirrel Wood: when you take a no copy object into inventory there already IS a check if that succeeded and if not, the object is put back into the sim
- [12:34] Phillip Vought: or only perform the actions on sims that you can roll back ;)
- [12:34] Squirrel Wood: but there is a timeout for that
- [12:35] Phillip Vought: I knew there was a reason we paid the extra 100USD ;)
- [12:35] Gordon Wendt: Squirrel, so on laggy sioms that's pointless then which is when a lot of this happens anyway I think
- [12:35] Gordon Wendt: *sims
- [12:36] Gordon Wendt: It's reproed up to 1.24.9 too and unless there's some hidden change in 1.25.0-1.25.2 then it'll still probably repro
- [12:36] Gordon Wendt: granted even if it was fixed in that I don't have hopes of seeing 1.25.2 anytime soon :(
- [12:36] Alexa Linden: so what do you think on this one?
- [12:37] Soft Linden: I'd import for examination. It would be great if QA can prove it out for a dev
- [12:37] Alexa Linden: will do :)
- [12:37] Celierra Darling: Anyone need help reproing (if people are trying now?)?
- [12:37] Soft Linden: Ah, and a note that CD is willing to help repro if needed :)
- [12:38] Alexa Linden: I've repro'd in the past
- [12:38] Alexa Linden: I've lost things early in my SL days doing this :p
- [12:38] Alexa Linden: and that's all of the agenda for today!
- [12:38] Gellan Glenelg: I had a question for prospero...
- [12:39] Gellan Glenelg: [1] got a bit ugly, because the reporter didn't agree his "blank name in active speakers list" issue was the same as "blank name in funds transfer" one (https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-3441)
- [12:39] Gellan Glenelg: Could the title of SVC-3441 be changed to something more generic than "Linden funds transfer dialog does not always show resident's name"?
- [12:39] Gordon Wendt: it's even broader now actually, it's blank name in friends list and profile display (with the group names being the only thing that shows accurately) now
- [12:39] Celierra Darling: ( Thanks for letting me add that at the last second, Alexa :) )
- [12:39] Gordon Wendt: as far as I've seen
- [12:40] Gordon Wendt: although I can't reliable repro much of that
- [12:40] Gellan Glenelg: do we want ALL the "blank" names ones redirected to SVC-3441?
- [12:40] Gellan Glenelg: I don't see how it can be different bugs
- [12:41] Gordon Wendt: it was all triggered by 1.25 rollout right?
- [12:41] Alexa Linden: Yes and yes Gellan
- [12:41] Alexa Linden: I can change the subject if you want
- [12:41] Gellan Glenelg: well, I didn't want to do it without discussion :)
- [12:41] Bridie Linden: Have folks seen 3441 recently (in last 2 hrs?)
- [12:41] Alexa Linden: do you agree that "blank name in friends list and profile display" covers all of it?
- [12:42] Gordon Wendt: no, link?
- [12:42] Squirrel Wood: points
- [12:42] Gellan Glenelg: oooh - can everyone pay *me* $100 (or $100,000 - I'm not fussy) to see if I can repro it? :PPPPP
- [12:42] Kona Linden: lol
- [12:42] Gordon Wendt: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-3441
- [12:42] Aimee Trescothick: I will if you will do it for me first
- [12:42] Gellan Glenelg: didnt repro alexa
- [12:42] Alexa Linden: lol
- [12:43] Phillip Vought: Soft.. can you give us an update on VWR-8818? is it being worked?
- [12:43] Alexa Linden: HAHAHA gellan, thanks for my $1 back :p
- [12:43] Squirrel Wood: gave you PaidYouL$100.
- [12:43] Gordon Wendt: SVC-11060 is what I was thinking of with the friends list I think
- [12:43] Phillip Vought: I've seen that happen this week
- [12:43] Squirrel Wood: happened to me last saturday
- [12:43] Prospero Tester: Hey all
- [12:43] Prospero Tester: Re: the blank name issue, we THINK we know where it's coming from
- [12:44] Gordon Wendt: MISC-1924 is another serious one that seems to be a big issue on this, it's offline IM's even not showing the names which seems to be fairly serious issue
- [12:44] Prospero Tester: We're trying to figure out how to test it, since we haven't created a clean-room reproduction
- [12:44] Soft Linden: Checking the picker one
- [12:44] Gordon Wendt: Propsero probably keeps eating cookies in the clean room
- [12:44] Gordon Wendt: *Prospero
- [12:44] Prospero Tester: heh
- [12:44] Soft Linden: Looks like the texture picker lags issue is in the QA pile right now - no dev on that one specifically
- [12:45] Phillip Vought: Ahh.. thanks vmuch..
- [12:45] Squirrel Wood: I believe you need a busy sim (20+ avatars + script lag + physics lag) to eventually repro this one
- [12:45] Gordon Wendt: Squirrel, if I can get Linden permission to do so I'll be happy to create physics and script lag
- [12:46] Gordon Wendt: as well as particle lag, and any other type of lag we need :)
- [12:46] XLR8RRICK Hudson: I see Owner and Creator as No One on this one
- [12:46] Phillip Vought: Heh.. I dont need permission.. look at my ARC.. and my script load is nearly as bad :P
- [12:46] Squirrel Wood: particles are client side :p
- [12:46] Soft Linden: Basically, you're asking permission to grief :)
- [12:46] Gordon Wendt: Soft, at least I ask
- [12:46] XLR8RRICK Hudson: noiw Squirrel
- [12:46] Soft Linden: jokes
- [12:46] Squirrel Wood: grief? that tends to be cleaned up in less than 20 seconds nowadays ^^
- [12:46] Kona Linden: basically
- [12:47] Soft Linden: If they aren't there already, adding any repro steps to the issue would be helpful
- [12:47] Phillip Vought: tell that to Nissan.. their sim's been megaprimgriefed for most of the day ;)
- [12:47] Soft Linden: We can be sure the internal devs know to look there for more data
- [12:47] Gordon Wendt: Squirrel, yes if a Linden is purposefully on search and destroy otherwise there are ways to make it harder
- [12:47] Soft Linden: Would be good to hold off until after the meeting for any tests here, though. We don't want some people crashing out.
- [12:47] Gordon Wendt: anti auto-return tech is convienent in that regard
- [12:47] Squirrel Wood: anti autoreturn... object linking with itself :p
- [12:48] Soft Linden: Help me out here - are we all on a single issue right now?
- [12:48] Soft Linden: I'm getting lost in comments.
- [12:48] Gordon Wendt: sorry Soft, squirrell and I were getting a little off-topic
- [12:49] XLR8RRICK Hudson: blank name
- [12:49] Kona Linden: lol
- [12:49] Soft Linden: If more repro/data is coming in on these blank name issues, we should at least make sure they're all linked up to the one that's imported.
- [12:49] Squirrel Wood: We are still blanking names, are we?
- [12:49] Gordon Wendt: can someone please point the people at MISC-1924, over to SVC-3441 as well since it seems to be in the same issue that way it can be consolidated
- [12:49] Squirrel Wood: make one the meta issue ?
- [12:50] Soft Linden: Okay, the SVC one is the one that's imported. On the internal, I'll add note to look here for repro information, and to look at the related issues too, if a dev's still hurting for more details.
- [12:51] Alexa Linden: I will gordon
- [12:51] Alexa Linden: thanks for the heads up
- [12:51] Gordon Wendt: thanks
