Mesh is a new capability to bring models, known as meshes, created in other applications into Second Life. Mesh is available on the aditi developer grid initially, and will be available to all residents after the open beta period is concluded.

Getting started

  1. Download the Mesh Import Project Viewer from Second Life's Alternate Viewers page.
Look for the Mesh Import Project Viewer installer in the Second Life Project Viewers section.
Note: Be sure not to install the project Viewer in the same folder as your existing Viewer 2 installation, or you will likely get a "application failed to initialize properly" error upon startup.
  2. Import your SL account to Aditi (see Updating Your Account on Aditi for instructions).
  3. Install and run the Viewer.
  4. Logging in takes you to the Aditi grid.
If for some reason you do not arrive on the Aditi grid automatically, type CTRL+SHIFT+G on the login screen to bring up the grid selector pulldown and type or select Aditi.
  5. Go to region Mesh City or any of the other Mesh-enabled regions.
Note that Mesh City and its variants can get overloaded with Residents during peak hours, which may impact performance. You may want to check the Mesh Sandboxes if you're having trouble logging into Mesh City or if everything there looks like large triangles instead of meshes.
