  • [2009/10/15 14:00] Carjay McGinnis: Hi Rob
  • [2009/10/15 14:01] Ardy Lay: I have been kinda out of it for a while. I hope I didn't miss too much.
  • [2009/10/15 14:01] Techwolf Lupindo: Hi rob
  • [2009/10/15 14:01] Rob Linden: thanks for updating the agenda Ardy!
  • [2009/10/15 14:01] Ardy Lay: You are welcome.
  • [2009/10/15 14:01] Rob Linden: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Open_Source_Meeting/Agenda
  • [2009/10/15 14:01] Techwolf Lupindo: Where? (I neeed to bookmard that...)
  • [2009/10/15 14:02] Rob Linden: so...the first item was the test sprint, which we tried to hold on Tuesday, but to no avail
  • [2009/10/15 14:02] Rob Linden: I think we've got enough showstopper bugs that its ok that we didn't do it just yet
  • [2009/10/15 14:02] Techwolf Lupindo: Bad timing, luck, etc, plus all the outstanding bugs.
  • [2009/10/15 14:04] Rob Linden: so....let's talk perhaps a little more broadly about a realistic release time for Snowglobe 1.2
  • [2009/10/15 14:04] Rob Linden: (because that will help us determine the timing of a test sprint)
  • [2009/10/15 14:04] Rob Linden: so....this list: https://jira.secondlife.com/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?reset=true&mode=hide&sorter/order=DESC&sorter/field=priority&resolution=-1&pid=10100&fixfor=10491
  • [2009/10/15 14:05] Rob Linden: ...used to have three issues at the top of major+ priority....now only has one
  • [2009/10/15 14:05] Rob Linden: (that's cool.....)
  • [2009/10/15 14:06] Merov Linden: yeap, but it's a big and tricky one
  • [2009/10/15 14:06] Rob Linden: tries to remember what the other two were....was one of them SNOW-268?
  • [2009/10/15 14:06] JIRA-helper: http//jira.secondlife.com/browse/SNOW-268:
  • [#SNOW-268] moving the: camera to an object and touching it, the camera returns back to avatar.
  • [2009/10/15 14:06] Merov Linden: yes
  • [2009/10/15 14:06] Techwolf Lupindo: I got standalone building working, but still got one runtime error. Will get that top bug listed.
  • [2009/10/15 14:06] Merov Linden: we fixed that with Thickbrick yesterday
  • [2009/10/15 14:06] Rob Linden: sweet!
  • [2009/10/15 14:06] Merov Linden: along with SNOW-267
  • [2009/10/15 14:06] JIRA-helper: http//jira.secondlife.com/browse/SNOW-267:
  • [#SNOW-267] of selected: prims broken in Select Texture mode.
  • [2009/10/15 14:07] Merov Linden: we realized that both were related with some "MediaOnAPrimUI" code being half way there

  • [2009/10/15 14:07] Rob Linden: great work!
  • [2009/10/15 14:07] Merov Linden: I logged SNOW-301 to track the rest of the work to be done in 1.3
  • [2009/10/15 14:07] JIRA-helper: http//jira.secondlife.com/browse/SNOW-301:
  • [#SNOW-301] pluginapi code: so to support MediaOnAPrimUI
  • [2009/10/15 14:07] Techwolf Lupindo: Truns out one cmake file is un-finished from LL, missing standalong part. Willing to dicuse that when it come up at the aporite time.
  • [2009/10/15 14:08] Kiosk: SL: Open Source General Info whispers: Thank you! Your items will be delivered to you soon!
  • [2009/10/15 14:08] Rob Linden: SNOW-272 is our main blocker then, at this point...
  • [2009/10/15 14:08] JIRA-helper: http//jira.secondlife.com/browse/SNOW-272:
  • [#SNOW-272] message: media_plugin_webkit: occurs on startup
  • [2009/10/15 14:08] Techwolf Lupindo: I get that too.
  • [2009/10/15 14:08] Merov Linden: I know... derailed a little bu SNOW-306 also...
  • [2009/10/15 14:08] JIRA-helper: http//jira.secondlife.com/browse/SNOW-306:
  • [#SNOW-306] Edits to: notecards in task inventory are not visible within a viewer session
  • [2009/10/15 14:08] Merov Linden: sorry about that
  • [2009/10/15 14:09] Merov Linden: looks defeated...
  • [2009/10/15 14:09] Morgaine Dinova: Awww Merov :-(
  • [2009/10/15 14:09] Thickbrick Sleaford: any progress on that Farady Cage?
  • [2009/10/15 14:09] Rob Linden: now now....
  • [2009/10/15 14:09] Techwolf Lupindo: grins
  • [2009/10/15 14:09] Morgaine Dinova: Merov += cookie
  • [2009/10/15 14:09] Merov Linden: :D
  • [2009/10/15 14:09] Rob Linden: lol
  • [2009/10/15 14:09] Merov Linden: thanks for the support guys
  • [2009/10/15 14:10] Aimee Trescothick: Merov += cookie tin
  • [2009/10/15 14:10] Techwolf Lupindo: paws Merov a megaprim faraday cage.
  • [2009/10/15 14:10] Rob Linden: Merov is beating himself up for merely being Superman as opposed to Superman+Cathulu or something
  • [2009/10/15 14:10] Aimee Trescothick: eat the cookies out of it and you'll be left with a mini faraday cage
  • [2009/10/15 14:10] Morgaine Dinova: lol
  • [2009/10/15 14:11] Merov Linden: picks up his "tiny" avatar from his inventory
  • [2009/10/15 14:11] Rob Linden: anyway, we still probably need to be realistic about the prospect of declaring victory on Snowglobe 1.2 next week, which seems like it's slipping away
  • [2009/10/15 14:11] Aimee Trescothick: lol
  • [2009/10/15 14:11] Merov Linden: not good I have to admit...
  • [2009/10/15 14:11] Techwolf Lupindo: My vote is to do a test sprint when all the llmedia major bugs are fixed.
  • [2009/10/15 14:11] Rob Linden: we're probably not going to end up with our first release candidate until sometime next week
  • [2009/10/15 14:12] Rob Linden: I'm not too surprised we're slipping. it was pretty ambitious to think we'd be able to get things figured out so soon after a big merge like we had
  • [2009/10/15 14:12] Lillie Yifu: Better to manage expectations now, then release and then find out that victory has remained elusive
  • [2009/10/15 14:12] Morgaine Dinova: Things can't be ready until they're ready, don't worry about it.
  • [2009/10/15 14:12] Merov Linden: Techwolf: apart from 272, which ones are the ones you want to see fixed
  • [2009/10/15 14:13] Merov Linden:  ?
  • [2009/10/15 14:13] Techwolf Lupindo: STANDALONE build. I need to enter a jira for that one, sould that be alone or a sub-task under the 222(?) jira?
  • [2009/10/15 14:14] Techwolf Lupindo: looks at the bug list.
  • [2009/10/15 14:14] Merov Linden: alone, by itself
  • [2009/10/15 14:14] Robin Cornelius: 287 is a big annoyance for my testing and probably tech's as well, but i can poke at that one
  • [2009/10/15 14:14] Merov Linden: then link it to 222 for good measure and tracability
  • [2009/10/15 14:15] Thickbrick Sleaford: pokes the jira helper: SNOW-287
  • [2009/10/15 14:15] JIRA-helper: http//jira.secondlife.com/browse/SNOW-287:
  • [#SNOW-287] of LLPlugin: fails on 64bit linux due to non PIC code linking into the DSO
  • [2009/10/15 14:15] Robin Cornelius: Tech, maybe we should have a standalone meta JIRA to link any standalone issues under
  • [2009/10/15 14:15] Techwolf Lupindo: 287 is minor on my end due to I can use "use amd64 && epatch pic.patch"
  • [2009/10/15 14:15] Techwolf Lupindo: Rob, +1
  • [2009/10/15 14:16] Techwolf Lupindo: In other words, I test for 64 or 32 bit build and patch as needed.
  • [2009/10/15 14:16] Rob Linden: since 287 doesn't keep us from building suitable 1.2 binaries, I'm not sure I'd want to declare it a blocker. if we get the right patch, we can certainly include it, though.
  • [2009/10/15 14:17] Techwolf Lupindo: There have been discusions on IRC that I missed on how to fix that properlly.
  • [2009/10/15 14:18] Phantom Ninetails: I can't help but wonder why you're replacing Mozilla (which is fine) with Webkit, when you could be replacing something that actually needs replacing: Quicktime.
  • [2009/10/15 14:18] Rob Linden: Phantom: the problem with Mozilla is that it has historically lacked a stable embedding API
  • [2009/10/15 14:19] Rob Linden: each new version has required a substantial rewrite and patching
  • [2009/10/15 14:19] Techwolf Lupindo: Under linux, viewer_manifest.py move and renames the gstreamer.so to quicktime.so, masking the issue.
  • [2009/10/15 14:19] Rob Linden: it's also pretty horrifying to build llmozlib from source
  • [2009/10/15 14:19] Geneko Nemeth: But why QuickTime on Windows while GStreamer works too?
  • [2009/10/15 14:19] Merov Linden: I guess someone can write a Mozilla plugin if so they wish...
  • [2009/10/15 14:20] Phantom Ninetails:  :/ I see... But I still see quicktime as a bigger issue..
  • [2009/10/15 14:20] Techwolf Lupindo: Rob, Defentlly. Takes a long time to download from mozilla cvs.
  • [2009/10/15 14:20] Geneko Nemeth: Quicktime = no Vorbis streaming. :/
  • [2009/10/15 14:20] Robin Cornelius: GStreamer +mp3 = licence/patent minefield
  • [2009/10/15 14:21] Thickbrick Sleaford: Robin: Debian seems fine with it
  • [2009/10/15 14:21] Lillie Yifu: what would you suggest replacing quickti with? Is it possible with the media plug in to just add, rather than replace?
  • [2009/10/15 14:21] Rob Linden: Robin: +1. Honestly, though, I thought we were still using FMOD on Windows and getting both MP3 and Vorbis....
  • [2009/10/15 14:21] Geneko Nemeth: Thickbrick: But not Ubuntu.
  • [2009/10/15 14:21] Robin Cornelius: not all of it some of gstreamer plugins are in debin multimedia
  • [2009/10/15 14:22] Merov Linden: note guys that, now there *is* a plugin architecture for all this, it's possible to support and even pick and choose what you prefer
  • [2009/10/15 14:22] Robin Cornelius: I'm all for using gstreamer, i've got latest GST working on win32/meerkat perfectly with the maximum number of possible media types
  • [2009/10/15 14:22] Rob Linden: breaking Vorbis streaming is a bug (potentially showstopper)
  • [2009/10/15 14:22] Morgaine Dinova: mp3 is only a license minefield in THEORY. In practice, a far bigger problem is that the vast bulk of videos seem to encoded with proprietary codecs (mainly Sorensen I think), and so even when video works in the OSS viewers, we still can't *see* the damn video.
  • [2009/10/15 14:22] Ardy Lay: FMOD seems to be used for parcel music stream playing. It doesn't support AAC which saddens me.
  • [2009/10/15 14:23] Techwolf Lupindo: I hate to sound stupied, but what is Vorbis and why is it a showstopper?
  • [2009/10/15 14:23] Morgaine Dinova: Ogg, Tech
  • [2009/10/15 14:23] Geneko Nemeth: Vorbis is an audio codec to be put into the Ogg container format.
  • [2009/10/15 14:23] Techwolf Lupindo: Oh, there are no patent/licening mindfile with that...
  • [2009/10/15 14:23] Techwolf Lupindo: mindfield
  • [2009/10/15 14:23] Rob Linden: Vorbis is a free audio encoding format, alternative to MP3
  • [2009/10/15 14:24] Morgaine Dinova: Nobody has yet suggested that Ogg Theora is a requirement for video, though that may happen too.
  • [2009/10/15 14:24] Geneko Nemeth: Well, they aren't called minefields for nothing.
  • [2009/10/15 14:24] Geneko Nemeth: Even if you think there's not a patent, there still might be.
  • [2009/10/15 14:24] Morgaine Dinova: Is the media plugin project going to help us with the Sorensen problem too?
  • [2009/10/15 14:24] Techwolf Lupindo: "[14:20
  • [2009/10/15 14:25] Phantom Ninetails: VLC would be another potential alternative I think..
  • [2009/10/15 14:25] Merov Linden: likes Tech serendipitously meaningful typos
  • [2009/10/15 14:25] Rob Linden: anyway, the reason why it's possibly a showstopper is that there's plenty of vorbis streams inworld, so if they stop working, it's a regression.
  • [2009/10/15 14:25] Geneko Nemeth: Techwolf: But Apple thinks it is.
  • [2009/10/15 14:25] Rob Linden: Techwolf: Apple chooses not to ship Vorbis support with Quicktime, I believe
  • [2009/10/15 14:25] Merov Linden: Morgaine: in theory yes, plugins will help solve this problem
  • [2009/10/15 14:25] Rob Linden: ...though I believe you can download Vorbis support separately
  • [2009/10/15 14:26] Techwolf Lupindo: gstreamer shojld be able to supprot it. So quicktime can be dropped.
  • [2009/10/15 14:26] Geneko Nemeth: MP3.
  • [2009/10/15 14:26] Rob Linden: Techwolf: GStreamer doesn't ship with an MP3 license. Quicktime does
  • [2009/10/15 14:26] Phantom Ninetails: VLC should be able to handle MP3 just fine.
  • [2009/10/15 14:26] Morgaine Dinova: In principle, LL could license the Sorensen codec for everyone's use in a closed plugin. I've always assumed that one of the reasons you created plugin-api is to allow Adobe Flash plugins, which is a similar problem to Sorensen.
  • [2009/10/15 14:27] Skills Hak: <3 vlc
  • [2009/10/15 14:27] Lillie Yifu: I have a love hate realtionship with flash
  • [2009/10/15 14:27] Lillie Yifu: it works so well, except when it destroys everything
  • [2009/10/15 14:27] Rob Linden: VLC is GPL. Linden Lab can't ship it with the viewer, unless we strip all proprietary components out of the viewer
  • [2009/10/15 14:27] Techwolf Lupindo: One way to get around that mindield is just stuff the URL to the user media player that have on the system. No liccene mindfield due to bianary linkage.
  • [2009/10/15 14:28] Morgaine Dinova: I have a hate hate relationship with Flash, but apparently people want it :-(
  • [2009/10/15 14:28] Phantom Ninetails: You don't ship quicktime with the viewer either.. You only need support for it, users install the program separately
  • [2009/10/15 14:28] Rob Linden: anyway, have we confirmed that Vorbis support is not working on Windows?
  • [2009/10/15 14:28] Morgaine Dinova: Techwolf++
  • [2009/10/15 14:28] Geneko Nemeth: QuickTime is the DirectMedia for the Mac.
  • [2009/10/15 14:28] Rob Linden: ...and if so, is there a bug filed in JIRA?
  • [2009/10/15 14:28] Lillie Yifu: it creates very flexible small and streamable output that works on a variety of platforms well. It also is like driving nails through your hands to make it work.
  • [2009/10/15 14:29] Morgaine Dinova: I've never understood why the viewer is reinventing audio players, when every box has one that already works with everything.
  • [2009/10/15 14:29] Merov Linden: I haven't seen that JIRA on Vorbis
  • [2009/10/15 14:29] Robin Cornelius: Morgaine, there is no consistant API to those media players
  • [2009/10/15 14:29] Rob Linden: Merov: me neither
  • [2009/10/15 14:29] Morgaine Dinova: Robin: yes there is: Icecast socket
  • [2009/10/15 14:30] Rob Linden: Is there a bug report for Vorbis not working on Windows?
  • [2009/10/15 14:30] Latif Khalifa: Morg, to a windows sound system?
  • [2009/10/15 14:30] Latif Khalifa: lol
  • [2009/10/15 14:30] Geneko Nemeth: Hmm... right, there probably isn't much parcels broadcasting in Vorbis...
  • [2009/10/15 14:31] Techwolf Lupindo: The only video media i've encounter is youtube mostly.
  • [2009/10/15 14:31] Thickbrick Sleaford: don't know if anyone mentioned it while I was reloggin: [1]
  • [2009/10/15 14:31] Lillie Yifu: Now Youtube is on my hate hate list. Bleah
  • [2009/10/15 14:31] Rob Linden: Is there a bug report for Vorbis not working on Windows?
  • [2009/10/15 14:32] Techwolf Lupindo: I did a search, didn't find any Rob.
  • [2009/10/15 14:32] Morgaine Dinova: The viewer could present its audio stream data on a localhost Icecast socket, and spawn the user's chosen player (or an open source supplied one) in the background reading from the socket URL. The only thing needed in the viewer would be a software mixer, which exist.
  • [2009/10/15 14:32] Rob Linden: Geneko: can you confirm that Vorbis isn't working for you?
  • [2009/10/15 14:33] Geneko Nemeth: I'm not even on Snowglobe... >_>
  • [2009/10/15 14:33] Geneko Nemeth: Look, I think we've sidetracked this too much.
  • [2009/10/15 14:33] Rob Linden: well, where this started was this:
  • [2009/10/15 14:33] Lillie Yifu: I've tried something similar to that morgiane, the results are ... spotty
  • [2009/10/15 14:33] Rob Linden: the claim was made we should be replacing Quicktime because otherwise we don't get Vorbis support
  • [2009/10/15 14:34] Phantom Ninetails: And um, Linux
  • [2009/10/15 14:34] Rob Linden: ...but no one seems to have tested that Vorbis stopped working with the viewer
  • [2009/10/15 14:34] Rob Linden: Phantom: we use GStreamer on Linux
  • [2009/10/15 14:35] Techwolf Lupindo: Phantom, gstreamer.so is reanamed to quicktime.so during the packing phase of the build.
  • [2009/10/15 14:35] Rob Linden: it's entirely possible that the viewer is using FMOD for Vorbis decoding right now
  • [2009/10/15 14:35] Rob Linden: Techwolf....whu?
  • [2009/10/15 14:35] Phantom Ninetails: Yeah... Two different players, splits up work in what I see as an undesirable way
  • [2009/10/15 14:35] Techwolf Lupindo: Rob, give me a couple minutes, I;ll dig out the code from viwer_manifest>py
  • [2009/10/15 14:35] Rob Linden: will be extremely sad if that's true
  • [2009/10/15 14:36] Merov Linden: thought Linux was using the new gstreamer010 plugin
  • [2009/10/15 14:36] Thickbrick Sleaford: On linux there's libmedia_plugin_quicktime.so which is actually Gstreamer
  • [2009/10/15 14:37] Techwolf Lupindo: self.path("../media_plugins/gstreamer010/libmedia_plugin_gstreamer010.so", "libmedia_plugin_quicktime.so")
  • [2009/10/15 14:37] Techwolf Lupindo: in the linux install part.
  • [2009/10/15 14:37] Rob Linden: was that part of the SNOW-222 merge?
  • [2009/10/15 14:37] JIRA-helper: http//jira.secondlife.com/browse/SNOW-222:
  • [#SNOW-222] LLMedia Plugin: API in SnowGlobe
  • [2009/10/15 14:37] Merov Linden: likely
  • [2009/10/15 14:38] Techwolf Lupindo: [2]
  • [2009/10/15 14:38] Latif Khalifa: has anybody building snowglobe on windows noticed problems with order of build actions? for me the build fails on first try after a fresh checkount, i just try build again and it works, looks like something about dependecy buiild order of the plugins might be wrong
  • [2009/10/15 14:38] Geneko Nemeth: feels shameful he dragged everyone into this T_T
  • [2009/10/15 14:38] Merov Linden: checks the various version of viewer_manifest.py he has on his machine
  • [2009/10/15 14:38] Merov Linden: that might be my doing in merging guys...
  • [2009/10/15 14:38] Techwolf Lupindo: Geneko, don't feel bad. I did a similar thing a couple months ago.
  • [2009/10/15 14:38] Merov Linden: don
  • [2009/10/15 14:39] Phantom Ninetails: I was the one who brought up Quicktime, so it's more my fault
  • [2009/10/15 14:39] Merov Linden: don't take the tar and feathers out yet though...
  • [2009/10/15 14:39] Latif Khalifa: haha
  • [2009/10/15 14:39] Rob Linden: looks like that might have actually been part of SNOW-283
  • [2009/10/15 14:39] JIRA-helper: http//jira.secondlife.com/browse/SNOW-283:
  • [#SNOW-283] are not: packaged for 64bit builds
  • [2009/10/15 14:39] Phantom Ninetails: Oh yes, another system quicktime doesn't support is the one I'm running on, Windows 2000
  • [2009/10/15 14:39] Techwolf Lupindo: Merov, [3]
  • [2009/10/15 14:40] Ardy Lay: Phantom, I noticed that myself. The old machine runs 2000.
  • [2009/10/15 14:40] Techwolf Lupindo: That just dub the i686 part to amd64
  • [2009/10/15 14:41] Rob Linden: well, let's resolve to fix that one right. we shouldn't be renaming GStreamer to Quicktime
  • [2009/10/15 14:41] Techwolf Lupindo: So it may go back farther then that.
  • [2009/10/15 14:41] Thickbrick Sleaford: I thought the renaming was intentional
  • [2009/10/15 14:42] Rob Linden: Thickbrick: it might have been, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't the right choice
  • [2009/10/15 14:42] Merov Linden: ooops... that's Robin's commit...
  • [2009/10/15 14:42] Techwolf Lupindo: mimetypes should be able to handle using the right plugin for whatever URL. quicktime or gstreamer. Am I thinking correct?
  • [2009/10/15 14:42] Thickbrick Sleaford: might be because of the way mime_types.xml explicitly refers to the quicktime plugin
  • [2009/10/15 14:43] Ardy Lay: Stating a decoder preference in a distributed software packing is dangerous business.
  • [2009/10/15 14:43] Techwolf Lupindo: Does minetype have a order of perference when more then one plugin can handle a media type?
  • [2009/10/15 14:44] Carjay McGinnis: hm, also explains why it fails to work if not renamed
  • [2009/10/15 14:44] Merov Linden: Tech: I don't think so
  • [2009/10/15 14:44] Carjay McGinnis: I don't think Apple would be happy about this either
  • [2009/10/15 14:44] Techwolf Lupindo: I wonder how mozilla/firefox handled it. I remember at one time int ehpast, there was severl plugins that registers as can handle mp3s.
  • [2009/10/15 14:45] Rob Linden: so, anyone want to volunteer to file a bug against that problem?
  • [2009/10/15 14:45] Phantom Ninetails: Which?
  • [2009/10/15 14:45] Geneko Nemeth: Yes, what problem? The one that gstreamer must be renamed to quicktime to work?
  • [2009/10/15 14:45] Rob Linden: the fact that the viewer builds are renaming GStreamer to Quicktime
  • [2009/10/15 14:45] Rob Linden: Geneko: yes
  • [2009/10/15 14:46] Phantom Ninetails: Ah.. I think I'll leave that up to someone else, not being intimitely familiar with building it..
  • [2009/10/15 14:46] Thickbrick Sleaford: might be also good to document how the plugin selection is done for people who will be writing plugins
  • [2009/10/15 14:46] Techwolf Lupindo: The standalone builds I was having a lot of linkage proplems. One grep I did spoted that piece of code.
  • [2009/10/15 14:47] Rob Linden: another issue we need a volunteer for: making sure Vorbis works on all platforms
  • [2009/10/15 14:47] Merov Linden: Thickbrick : there is such doc internally I think
  • [2009/10/15 14:47] Merov Linden: Should dig for it and resurface it
  • [2009/10/15 14:48] Merov Linden: I'm not running on Linux so wondering: are you guys using a different mime-types.xml?
  • [2009/10/15 14:48] Chantal Harvey: oops
  • [2009/10/15 14:48] Thickbrick Sleaford: there's on ly one mime_types.xml file
  • [2009/10/15 14:48] Rob Linden: winding way back to the beginning of the conversation: let's talk a little bit more about SNOW-272 ....Merov, sorry to put you on the spot, but if you had to place a bet, what odds would you put on being done by Wednesday with that one?
  • [2009/10/15 14:48] JIRA-helper: http//jira.secondlife.com/browse/SNOW-272:
  • [#SNOW-272] message: media_plugin_webkit: occurs on startup
  • [2009/10/15 14:49] Rob Linden: (e.g. 20%, 70%?)
  • [2009/10/15 14:49] Techwolf Lupindo: gstreamer re-name bug filed. https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SNOW-307
  • [2009/10/15 14:49] [[User:JIRA-helper: [#SNOW-307|JIRA-helper: [#SNOW-307]]:
  • [2009/10/15 14:49] Merov Linden: 70%
  • [2009/10/15 14:49] Merov Linden: really
  • [2009/10/15 14:49] Rob Linden: related question: does that problem lend itself to getting help from folks here?
  • [2009/10/15 14:50] Morgaine Dinova: Devs are always too optimistic, so make that 50% :-)
  • [2009/10/15 14:50] Merov Linden: not really as it's all about cleaning up the way we build the plug ins
  • [2009/10/15 14:50] Rob Linden: blargh...that's what I was afraid of
  • [2009/10/15 14:50] Merov Linden: I'd rather have folks here digging through everything Linux
  • [2009/10/15 14:50] Merov Linden: as I'm *not* building on that platform
  • [2009/10/15 14:50] Carjay McGinnis: Morgaine: I prefer Scotty-style "that will take 3 weeks" and then doing it in one
  • [2009/10/15 14:50] Rob Linden: does SNOW-272 also happen on Linux still?
  • [2009/10/15 14:51] Merov Linden: covering Windows and Mac is enough
  • [2009/10/15 14:51] Rob Linden: hasn't checked in a little while
  • [2009/10/15 14:51] Techwolf Lupindo: Rob, yes on mine.
  • [2009/10/15 14:51] Techwolf Lupindo: re:272
  • [2009/10/15 14:52] Rob Linden: ok....that's probably a different issue then. Merov is working on SNOW-272 as it applies to Windows
  • [2009/10/15 14:52] Merov Linden:  ?? the CRT issue is completely Windows specific AFAIK
  • [2009/10/15 14:52] Techwolf Lupindo: The plug-in .so fails to load on my system due to a symble error that i'me still trying to track down.
  • [2009/10/15 14:52] Rob Linden: Merov: the failure on Linux would manifest itself the exact same way
  • [2009/10/15 14:52] Techwolf Lupindo: Moraine, have you build the snowblobe-truck from my overlay?
  • [2009/10/15 14:53] Rob Linden: it's really an entirely different bug under the hood, I'm sure
  • [2009/10/15 14:53] Merov Linden: root cause is likely different though
  • [2009/10/15 14:53] Geneko Nemeth: laughs.
  • [2009/10/15 14:54] Thickbrick Sleaford: (BTW, for people on Windows, here's an OGG stream to test: [4] )
  • [2009/10/15 14:54] Morgaine Dinova: Tech: no I haven't yet, firing off an "emerge snow-globe-trunk" now. I built your Emerald yesterday, that's fine.
  • [2009/10/15 14:54] Rob Linden: ok....let's do this: let's make SNOW-272 refer to the Win32 problem, andfile a separate issue for Linux
  • [2009/10/15 14:54] Merov Linden: copy that link from Thickbrick
  • [2009/10/15 14:54] Merov Linden: thanks!
  • [2009/10/15 14:55] Techwolf Lupindo: Thickbrink, is that media URL on any parcel we can test?
  • [2009/10/15 14:55] Thickbrick Sleaford: copied that from VWR-219
  • [2009/10/15 14:55] JIRA-helper: http//jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-219:
  • [#VWR-219] client hangs: while playing ogg/vorbis streams
  • [2009/10/15 14:55] Techwolf Lupindo: ok
  • [2009/10/15 14:56] Thickbrick Sleaford: hmm, I think Snowglobe still can't set parcel media and music urls
  • [2009/10/15 14:56] Rob Linden: Here's what I'm going to suggest for the bug sprint. Let's shoot for using next Thursday's meeting as our bug sprint
  • [2009/10/15 14:57] Ardy Lay: "bug sprint"?
  • [2009/10/15 14:58] Ardy Lay: And is 307 getting linked into 222?
  • [2009/10/15 14:58] Rob Linden: testing sprint I should say
  • [2009/10/15 14:58] Techwolf Lupindo: lol "Considering what happen last tueday, that name is approite. :-)"
  • [2009/10/15 14:59] Ardy Lay: Okay, that name I understand.
  • [2009/10/15 14:59] Rob Linden: one quick item from the agenda: VWR-15002
  • [2009/10/15 14:59] JIRA-helper: http//jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-15002:
  • [#VWR-15002] a "Save: to Disc" context menu entry to inventory items
  • [2009/10/15 15:00] Rob Linden: I'd recommend setting the "patch attached" flag there....once that's set, it'll get reviewed pretty quickly
  • [2009/10/15 15:00] Rob Linden: though honestly, if the original contributor isnt willing to post it themselves, that's a bit of a problem for us taking it
  • [2009/10/15 15:01] Morgaine Dinova: Rob, 1.23.5 has just been released, but without a source archive in the sources page. Is this just wiki update lag trailing SVN, and you're intending to dump the 1.23.5 source packages there shortly?
  • [2009/10/15 15:01] Rob Linden: Morgaine, the 1.23.5 source tarball should be availabe,....just needs a link from the wiki
  • [2009/10/15 15:01] Morgaine Dinova: Coolness, ty
  • [2009/10/15 15:02] Rob Linden: the commit log should have the right location
  • [2009/10/15 15:02] Lillie Yifu: Could we get more descirption on 15002... exactly what cna be saved
  • [2009/10/15 15:02] Lillie Yifu: I asume text thingees
  • [2009/10/15 15:02] Rob Linden: we're running a little bit over. anything else we should cover?
  • [2009/10/15 15:02] Lillie Yifu: but it isn't clear from the JIRA
  • [2009/10/15 15:02] Rob Linden: Lillie, could you comment in VWR-15002?
  • [2009/10/15 15:02] Rob Linden: I agree that there needs to be more info there
  • [2009/10/15 15:02] Lillie Yifu: I will download the patch and apply it when you can get the new ource code up...
  • [2009/10/15 15:03] Lillie Yifu: and see what it does
  • [2009/10/15 15:03] Merov Linden: welcome to our world Lillie... :)
  • [2009/10/15 15:03] Rob Linden: ok..we should get goign here
