  • [2009/09/10 14:00] Techwolf Lupindo: Nearly missed this due to the last one had "no script" :-)
  • [2009/09/10 14:00] Merov Linden: I'm just starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel
  • [2009/09/10 14:00] Thickbrick Sleaford: you sure it's not a train?
  • [2009/09/10 14:00] Merov Linden: actually, lots of light... may be it's a train indeed... :)
  • [2009/09/10 14:01] Aimee Trescothick: starts humming music from Starlight Express
  • [2009/09/10 14:01] Techwolf Lupindo: I've added the patches from SNOW-93 to the snowglobe-trunk ebuild in the gentoo overlay. This should allow gentoo user to try out the new translator patch.
  • [2009/09/10 14:01] JIRA-helper: http//jira.secondlife.com/browse/SNOW-93:
  • [#SNOW-93] language translation: of chat messages
  • [2009/09/10 14:02] Merov Linden: hold that thought Techwolf: it's one of the agenda point :)
  • [2009/09/10 14:02] Techwolf Lupindo: Is there an agenda? :-)
  • [2009/09/10 14:02] Thickbrick Sleaford: I think this is the agenda from last week
  • [2009/09/10 14:02] Merov Linden: ok, it's 2pm and it looks like there's a quorum here :)
  • [2009/09/10 14:03] Merov Linden: I'm the only Linden around so I hope I won't be torn to pieces in my first try hosting the meeting :)
  • [2009/09/10 14:03] Merov Linden: turns God mode on just to be safe
  • [2009/09/10 14:03] Techwolf Lupindo: smiels showing all his teeth.
  • [2009/09/10 14:03] Ardy Lay: Hehe
  • [2009/09/10 14:03] Morgaine Dinova: waves at quorum :P
  • [2009/09/10 14:03] Merov Linden: there si an agenda and it is indeed the same as last week
  • [2009/09/10 14:04] Merov Linden: grabs the link
  • [2009/09/10 14:04] Waya Sion: It's a pleasure to meet you Merov, i'm just going to listen since i'm not much a programmer outside of lsl scripting
  • [2009/09/10 14:04] Ardy Lay: I give you roses. They are blurry for me.
  • [2009/09/10 14:04] Merov Linden: [1]
  • [2009/09/10 14:04] Aimee Trescothick: nominates Morgaine as an honorary linden for the day to even the balance a little
  • [2009/09/10 14:04] Aimee Trescothick: :P
  • [2009/09/10 14:04] Merov Linden: I'm sure she's thrilled
  • [2009/09/10 14:05] Morgaine Dinova: That's not a great idea, it would compromise my independence :-)
  • [2009/09/10 14:05] Merov Linden: k, first item: OGP patch
  • [2009/09/10 14:05] Merov Linden: SNOW-215
  • [2009/09/10 14:05] JIRA-helper: http//jira.secondlife.com/browse/SNOW-215:
  • [#SNOW-215] Interop login/teleport:
  • [2009/09/10 14:05] Merov Linden: I've been reviewing this patch with Inifinity (who knows something about OGP...)
  • [2009/09/10 14:05] Merov Linden: Looks good though I cleaned up the code a little and attached a new patch
  • [2009/09/10 14:06] Merov Linden: I'm going through the test plan right now
  • [2009/09/10 14:06] Merov Linden: Should be done by tonight
  • [2009/09/10 14:06] Techwolf Lupindo: Is this the same as third party viewers letting one log into other grids or is this OGP something different?
  • [2009/09/10 14:06] Morgaine Dinova: Pixel said that the test plan is entirely to avoid regressions, rather than actually touching the OGP part.
  • [2009/09/10 14:06] Merov Linden: Too bad we don't have Pixel or Mm Alder with us today
  • [2009/09/10 14:07] Merov Linden: I'll go through the OGP part with Infinity's help
  • [2009/09/10 14:07] NikoKito Aries: (es->en) Good night all, or good morning
  • [2009/09/10 14:07] Morgaine Dinova: Mm worked this too?
  • [2009/09/10 14:07] NikoKito Aries: buenas noches a todos, o buenos dias
  • [2009/09/10 14:07] Morgaine Dinova: Hola Niko
  • [2009/09/10 14:07] Merov Linden: It should work on the vaak grid
  • [2009/09/10 14:07] Aimee Trescothick: Pixel's logged in to IRC I think
  • [2009/09/10 14:07] NikoKito Aries: Hola Morgaine :)
  • [2009/09/10 14:07] NikoKito Aries: (es->en) Hello Morgaine:)
  • [2009/09/10 14:08] Merov Linden: Talking about non-OGP regression
  • [2009/09/10 14:08] Merov Linden: One thing though is the addition of a new menu item in World (Teleport region...) which is disabled in non OGP use.
  • [2009/09/10 14:08] Merov Linden: I think that could confuse non-OGP users
  • [2009/09/10 14:09] Merov Linden: Not sure if there's a way to hide a menu item rather than disabling it
  • [2009/09/10 14:09] Morgaine Dinova: We can override with commandline?
  • [2009/09/10 14:09] Merov Linden: we can
  • [2009/09/10 14:09] Morgaine Dinova: That's good enough for us. No point confusing people who aren't interop-aware.
  • [2009/09/10 14:10] Aimee Trescothick: hmm, we've had miraculously disappearing entire menus before now, so shouldn't be too hard to hide a single item ;)
  • [2009/09/10 14:10] Merov Linden: I'm thinking so too but may be she had a good reason to get a menu in there (to TP)
  • [2009/09/10 14:11] Morgaine Dinova: Aimee: hehe
  • [2009/09/10 14:11] Merov Linden: I'll look into that, I just don't want casual non-OGP users to start thinking they can't TP because that menu is disabled for them
  • [2009/09/10 14:11] Morgaine Dinova: Even simpler, just add another menu. Instead of in Advanced, make an Interop menu
  • [2009/09/10 14:12] Melinda Latynina: it's usually best not to hide menu items because that's where a lot of new users scan to learn what sorts of things are possible. the only case where i'd hide one completely is if there was literally no way the user could possibly activate it.
  • [2009/09/10 14:12] Merov Linden: May be you could comment in SNOW-215 Morgaine :)
  • [2009/09/10 14:12] Morgaine Dinova: nods
  • [2009/09/10 14:12] Merov Linden: Melinda: there is no way to activate it
  • [2009/09/10 14:13] Melinda Latynina: not even by changing grids?
  • [2009/09/10 14:13] Techwolf Lupindo: Hmm...interop menu. It that can be default disabled like the Advanced menu is now, that is a good soluction.
  • [2009/09/10 14:13] Merov Linden: unless you use the "-ogp" in the command line
  • [2009/09/10 14:13] Melinda Latynina: that is a kind of possibility
  • [2009/09/10 14:13] Merov Linden: likes the optional menu as well
  • [2009/09/10 14:13] Melinda Latynina: anyway, just a thought
  • [2009/09/10 14:13] Techwolf Lupindo: Advance and Admin are two menus that diseapearable.
  • [2009/09/10 14:14] Merov Linden: That's true, it's a better model I think than "mysteriously disabled" menu items in "World"
  • [2009/09/10 14:14] Merov Linden: especially for an experimental thing like OGP/Interop
  • [2009/09/10 14:14] Morgaine Dinova: An Interop menu would have a PR advantage too. It would make it harder for people to sometimes have doubts that you really do intend to do interop ^_^
  • [2009/09/10 14:15] Techwolf Lupindo: Once actived, they stay up untill disactivated.
  • [2009/09/10 14:15] Melinda Latynina: if it's experimental, why not just make it a submenu under Advanced?
  • [2009/09/10 14:15] Mojito Sorbet: Advanced -> Interop ->
  • [2009/09/10 14:15] Melinda Latynina: right
  • [2009/09/10 14:15] Ardy Lay: Don't bury it too deep for the people that will be using it.
  • [2009/09/10 14:16] Merov Linden: Advanced has already so many sub categories
  • [2009/09/10 14:16] Aimee Trescothick: yeah, being tucked in there is enough
  • [2009/09/10 14:16] Morgaine Dinova: Advanced is too big. Make a bold statement, and actually have an Interop menu :-)
  • [2009/09/10 14:16] Mojito Sorbet: Best is the enemy of good enough. Can move it later
  • [2009/09/10 14:16] Melinda Latynina: reorganize the advanced menu if needed, but if that's where it belongs, then that sounds preferable to me
  • [2009/09/10 14:17] Thickbrick Sleaford: add an Expert menu...
  • [2009/09/10 14:17] Melinda Latynina: that's what advanced is
  • [2009/09/10 14:17] Mojito Sorbet: Is Expert more Advanced than Advanced??
  • [2009/09/10 14:17] Geneko Nemeth: Advanced, Expert, Nightmare?
  • [2009/09/10 14:17] Harris Emmons: People using it cannot click twice4?
  • [2009/09/10 14:17] Morgaine Dinova: Nothing actually "belongs" in Advanced. It's there through lack of a more useful classification.
  • [2009/09/10 14:17] Merov Linden: reminds me of "Advanced" and "Extra" menus in old Mac applications
  • [2009/09/10 14:17] Thickbrick Sleaford: snickers
  • [2009/09/10 14:17] Mojito Sorbet: Just put all the other stuff under a "Noob" menu then. ha ha
  • [2009/09/10 14:17] Melinda Latynina: i mean belongs there by symmetry with the other kinds of stuff there
  • [2009/09/10 14:18] Merov Linden: ok, there are a couple of ideas floating around
  • [2009/09/10 14:18] Merov Linden: would be great if you guys would write them down as comments to SNOW-215
  • [2009/09/10 14:18] Morgaine Dinova: Anyway, it's not important. As long as it's there somewhere when enabled.
  • [2009/09/10 14:18] Merov Linden: so I don't betray your intention
  • [2009/09/10 14:18] Morgaine Dinova: nods
  • [2009/09/10 14:18] Aimee Trescothick: recursion time, an Advanced menu within the Advanced menu :)
  • [2009/09/10 14:18] Techwolf Lupindo: Advance is where less used stuff is put, like wireframe mode and ARC mode.
  • [2009/09/10 14:18] Morgaine Dinova: Aimee - -
  • [2009/09/10 14:18] Morgaine Dinova: :P
  • [2009/09/10 14:19] Aimee Trescothick: lol yes --myself
  • [2009/09/10 14:19] Merov Linden: k, I think we can move to the next item on the agenda
  • [2009/09/10 14:19] Pixel Gausman: pops in after a looong call
  • [2009/09/10 14:19] Morgaine Dinova: Yay, Pix!
  • [2009/09/10 14:19] Merov Linden: wow...
  • [2009/09/10 14:19] Merov Linden: just when we thought we were done with item 1 :)
  • [2009/09/10 14:19] Pixel Gausman: <blush>
  • [2009/09/10 14:19] Merov Linden: hi Pixel :)
  • [2009/09/10 14:20] Techwolf Lupindo: eyes the fish...
  • [2009/09/10 14:20] Pixel Gausman: hi Merov: how is the testing?
  • [2009/09/10 14:20] Aimee Trescothick: I wouldn't blush, you'll look like a salmon
  • [2009/09/10 14:20] Merov Linden: well, we were talking about SNOW-215 and the opportunity to move your "Teleport region..." menu item to somewhere else
  • [2009/09/10 14:20] Pixel Gausman: oh ok.
  • [2009/09/10 14:20] Morgaine Dinova: That's a really fine fish
  • [2009/09/10 14:21] Pixel Gausman: where should it move to?
  • [2009/09/10 14:21] Merov Linden: may be create a hidable "Interop" menu
  • [2009/09/10 14:21] Techwolf Lupindo: Idea thown out, Interop menu at root level, hidden by default like Advanced. 2) put it under the Advance menu.
  • [2009/09/10 14:21] Merov Linden: so that when your not launched in OGP mode, there's nothing staying around with disabled stuff
  • [2009/09/10 14:21] Merov Linden: another idea: move to Advanced
  • [2009/09/10 14:22] Pixel Gausman: never done a hideable menu. trying to think if there are other items that would go on the menu....eventiually
  • [2009/09/10 14:22] Merov Linden: anyway, I encouraged the folks around here to voice their opinion in SNOW-215
  • [2009/09/10 14:22] Pixel Gausman: Moving to advanced is fine
  • [2009/09/10 14:22] Pixel Gausman: since that's where new things typically get their feet wet
  • [2009/09/10 14:22] Morgaine Dinova: Tons, eventually. Setting up asset service providers, OpenID account info, import/export, and 100 more is my guess
  • [2009/09/10 14:23] Merov Linden: has no religion yet
  • [2009/09/10 14:23] Pixel Gausman: Merov: me either.
  • [2009/09/10 14:23] Pixel Gausman: Morgaine: those sound like Preferences tab things
  • [2009/09/10 14:23] Morgaine Dinova: I vote against Advanced. Quite apart from the mess that is Advanced, it just feels wrong.
  • [2009/09/10 14:23] Morgaine Dinova: Pixel: yeah, some of them
  • [2009/09/10 14:24] Merov Linden: okey, let's that discussion move to SNOW-215 or sldev
  • [2009/09/10 14:24] Morgaine Dinova: nods
  • [2009/09/10 14:24] Pixel Gausman: ok, so we'll look for feedback in SNOW-215 on this
  • [2009/09/10 14:24] Merov Linden: yup
  • [2009/09/10 14:24] Pixel Gausman: Merov: any chance a binary could pop out for testing by some folks
  • [2009/09/10 14:24] Pixel Gausman: especially non-OGP testing
  • [2009/09/10 14:25] Merov Linden: hmm... it's always extra work really to build, post and evangelize those special builds
  • [2009/09/10 14:25] Merov Linden: I'd rather have people grab the source and apply the patch
  • [2009/09/10 14:26] Morgaine Dinova: Merov: if you're popping out a binary, it might be handy to provide the source archive in Snowglobe_sources wili page too. I notice you didn't do that for 1.2.0, so had to head for SVN.
  • [2009/09/10 14:26] Morgaine Dinova: s/wili/wiki/
  • [2009/09/10 14:26] Pixel Gausman: ok, wasn't sure how much pain was involved. just would make it easier for OpenSim devs (that can't touch GPL code) if there was a binary
  • [2009/09/10 14:27] Merov Linden: when it's merged in Snowglobe, they'll be able to get the regular builds
  • [2009/09/10 14:27] Merov Linden: doing one before the commit is the annoying part
  • [2009/09/10 14:27] Merov Linden: and I'm hoping we'll commit that before the end of the month
  • [2009/09/10 14:28] Merov Linden: would that be good enough?
  • [2009/09/10 14:28] Pixel Gausman: ok. i dont want to be annoying. any other SNOW-215 discussion?
  • [2009/09/10 14:28] Pixel Gausman:  :)
  • [2009/09/10 14:28] Pixel Gausman: yes
  • [2009/09/10 14:28] Pixel Gausman: that would be good.
  • [2009/09/10 14:28] Merov Linden: cool :)
  • [2009/09/10 14:28] Merov Linden: k, agenda item 2: Media Plugin merge update
  • [2009/09/10 14:28] Merov Linden: That's SNOW-222
  • [2009/09/10 14:28] Pixel Gausman: another juicy item
  • [2009/09/10 14:28] Merov Linden: SNOW-222
  • [2009/09/10 14:29] Merov Linden: I've been working in this and nearing completion
  • [2009/09/10 14:29] Merov Linden: The svn svn.secondife.com/svn/linden/branches/2009/oss-viewer is already updated
  • [2009/09/10 14:29] JIRA-helper: http//jira.secondlife.com/browse/SNOW-222:
  • [2009/09/10 14:29] Merov Linden: that includes support for Linux and gstreamer BTW (for the Linux folks aorund)
  • [2009/09/10 14:30] Merov Linden: See svn rev 2749
  • [2009/09/10 14:30] Merov Linden: It's a massive change of course
  • [2009/09/10 14:30] Merov Linden: But now that it is in oss-viewer, that means we can do a merge to Snowglobe trunk anytime
  • [2009/09/10 14:30] Merov Linden: I haven't tried that yet though (busy on SNOW-215, see above)
  • [2009/09/10 14:31] Pixel Gausman: <blush>
  • [2009/09/10 14:31] Techwolf Lupindo: Have you removed the 64bit gstreamer disable hack?
  • [2009/09/10 14:31] Merov Linden: don't Pixel, that OGP work *is* important
  • [2009/09/10 14:31] Merov Linden: Techwolf: I don't know what that hack is about
  • [2009/09/10 14:32] Merov Linden: would you mind pulling oss-viewer and check?
  • [2009/09/10 14:32] Techwolf Lupindo: I have to patch that out to build 64 bits and have gstreamer work.
  • [2009/09/10 14:32] Techwolf Lupindo: Let me check.
  • [2009/09/10 14:32] Merov Linden: I was wondering BTW if anyone around here did try to build plugin-api or oss-viewer
  • [2009/09/10 14:33] Merov Linden: since the last changes I made
  • [2009/09/10 14:33] Merov Linden:  ?
  • [2009/09/10 14:33] Merov Linden: Aimee for instance?
  • [2009/09/10 14:33] Pixel Gausman: not since recent changes
  • [2009/09/10 14:33] Pixel Gausman: last time i tried was when plugin-api first popped out
  • [2009/09/10 14:33] Aimee Trescothick: when was that? I've not built plugin-ap for a week or so I think
  • [2009/09/10 14:33] Techwolf Lupindo: [2] line 48+
  • [2009/09/10 14:34] Merov Linden: checks the log
  • [2009/09/10 14:35] Morgaine Dinova: I have to wait for the merge into snow, as plugin-api branch refuses to come up here despite a perfect compile. It's the same fonts problem as reported before, and I'm not touching fonts with a barge pole.
  • [2009/09/10 14:36] Merov Linden: ok, I started to merge back stuff in the internal branch on Aug 26
  • [2009/09/10 14:36] Merov Linden: that started to show up in plugin-api svn rev 2682
  • [2009/09/10 14:36] Morgaine Dinova: Wish I could revert font handling to 1.22.11 era :-(
  • [2009/09/10 14:37] Merov Linden: it was completed on Aug 31 with svn rev 2707
  • [2009/09/10 14:37] Merov Linden: Tofu did one extra change that showed up in svn rev 2713
  • [2009/09/10 14:38] Merov Linden: so that completed the Linux backport and a bunch of improvements on all platform
  • [2009/09/10 14:38] Techwolf Lupindo: The gstreamer disabled was a nasty hack to fix some gstreamer issues, the "fix" was to kill it all together for 64 bit systms.
  • [2009/09/10 14:38] Merov Linden: I'm asking because we better have a sense of how stable/good that is before we merge in Snowglobe trunk me think
  • [2009/09/10 14:38] Merov Linden: I personally test Windows and Mac but not Linux
  • [2009/09/10 14:39] Merov Linden: I know that Tofu did and gave it his blessing
  • [2009/09/10 14:39] Merov Linden: but that'd be nice to have thumbs up from folks from sldev
  • [2009/09/10 14:39] Thickbrick Sleaford: in the new LLMedia, gstreamer/quicktime is initialized as needed, or on login?
  • [2009/09/10 14:39] Morgaine Dinova: Tech's fast timers fix didn't make it into Rob's 1.2.0/translater build.
  • [2009/09/10 14:39] Techwolf Lupindo: gstreamer work just fine on 64bit sytems with a 64bit build.
  • [2009/09/10 14:40] Merov Linden: Thickbrick: I'm pretty sure it's a lazy init (as needed)
  • [2009/09/10 14:41] Techwolf Lupindo: Someone, rob?, wanted to do a real fix to fastimers, hence why the simple fix didn't get merged/commited. But with the delay, the simple fix sould go in untill the real fix can be done.
  • [2009/09/10 14:41] Morgaine Dinova: Yeah, gstreamer only bombs on 64-bit when loaded at play time from the 32-bit prebuilt release. Fine when native 64-bit client.
  • [2009/09/10 14:42] Merov Linden: OK, if one of you Linux guru could build oss-viewer, test that and comment in SNOW-222 that'd be awesome
  • [2009/09/10 14:43] Robin Cornelius: Tech the fast timers fix is done, i've just not committed
  • [2009/09/10 14:43] Robin Cornelius: the proper fix is on the jira
  • [2009/09/10 14:43] Merov Linden: which SNOW record is that?
  • [2009/09/10 14:43] Merov Linden: knows it's in there...
  • [2009/09/10 14:43] Thickbrick Sleaford: SNOW-108
  • [2009/09/10 14:43] JIRA-helper: http//jira.secondlife.com/browse/SNOW-108:
  • [#SNOW-108] timers fail: on non i386 systems
  • [2009/09/10 14:44] Merov Linden: cool, thanks Thickbrick
  • [2009/09/10 14:44] Thickbrick Sleaford: loves firefox history search
  • [2009/09/10 14:45] Aimee Trescothick: ls
  • [2009/09/10 14:45] Merov Linden: k, I'm going to test a merge of that plugin api in Snowglobe trunk on my machine
  • [2009/09/10 14:45] Merov Linden: tomorrow likely
  • [2009/09/10 14:45] Aimee Trescothick: oops, this isn't a bash shell *blush*
  • [2009/09/10 14:45] Merov Linden: I'll post a rather massive patch in SNOW-222 for your collective enjoyment
  • [2009/09/10 14:46] Aimee Trescothick:  :)
  • [2009/09/10 14:46] Techwolf Lupindo: Robin, thanks for the heads up. I'll update the patch I use. :-)
  • [2009/09/10 14:46] Morgaine Dinova: That's not the only thing fixed though, "non-x86". More importantly, the actual frame time are fixed to make sense.
  • [2009/09/10 14:46] Techwolf Lupindo: Aimee, that ls -la. :-)
  • [2009/09/10 14:46] Merov Linden: would be really swell to get your feedback so that we can get that in Snowglobe soon if it all makes sense
  • [2009/09/10 14:47] Merov Linden: Thanks to Aimee's experiment, we know there's a pent up demand and lots of expectation on this new feature
  • [2009/09/10 14:47] Aimee Trescothick: =)
  • [2009/09/10 14:47] Morgaine Dinova: Yep :-)
  • [2009/09/10 14:48] Aimee Trescothick: noooo don't do it! I'll have to get around to finishing and publishing mine then lol
  • [2009/09/10 14:48] Merov Linden: and beyond "feature", it's also our first foray into creating a plugin api which is even more important
  • [2009/09/10 14:48] Mojito Sorbet: Yes.
  • [2009/09/10 14:48] Aimee Trescothick: I have an excuse to be lazy while there's no viewer to run it in lol
  • [2009/09/10 14:48] Morgaine Dinova: Enthusiasm has mushroomed, possibly because the viewer itself is perceived as a hurdle (which it is of course) ... plugins would be less so.
  • [2009/09/10 14:48] Techwolf Lupindo: If the llmedia does what I think it can do, it would be boon for helping new users and users with problems.
  • [2009/09/10 14:48] Merov Linden: Aimee: are you asking me to slow down? :)
  • [2009/09/10 14:49] Mojito Sorbet: Q wants plugins for hooking up a test harness as well
  • [2009/09/10 14:49] Aimee Trescothick: lol, just joking, I think I'd get lynched if I did
  • [2009/09/10 14:49] Techwolf Lupindo: Or eaten. :-)
  • [2009/09/10 14:49] Aimee Trescothick: gulps
  • [2009/09/10 14:49] Morgaine Dinova: Lynching Aimee would be highly counter-productive :P
  • [2009/09/10 14:49] Mojito Sorbet: And I need plugins for my project. But I might have a wish list of hooks I need to give you later.
  • [2009/09/10 14:49] Aimee Trescothick: LOL
  • [2009/09/10 14:50] Merov Linden: ok, well, I think I communicated what's up and coming with LLMedia in Snowglobe
  • [2009/09/10 14:50] Morgaine Dinova: Mojito++
  • [2009/09/10 14:50] Morgaine Dinova: Hooks are what will make or break plugins.
  • [2009/09/10 14:50] Merov Linden: I'm glad to see everyone excited by this
  • [2009/09/10 14:50] Mojito Sorbet: Part of my research is exactly what kind of things in the viewer do I need to touch
  • [2009/09/10 14:51] Merov Linden: so stay tune for news on SNOW-222 and sldev
  • [2009/09/10 14:51] Merov Linden: any more comment on pluginapi?
  • [2009/09/10 14:51] Latif Khalifa: lol
  • [2009/09/10 14:51] Mojito Sorbet: Is there a written spec somewhere?
  • [2009/09/10 14:52] Merov Linden: yes, there's tons of documentation
  • [2009/09/10 14:52] Merov Linden: in the wiki
  • [2009/09/10 14:52] Merov Linden: let me grab some links
  • [2009/09/10 14:52] Latif Khalifa: Mojito, plugins api is just a way to render something as 1 texture per parcel in sl
  • [2009/09/10 14:53] Morgaine Dinova: Latif: ***for now**
  • [2009/09/10 14:53] Merov Linden: [3]
  • [2009/09/10 14:53] Merov Linden: for intro
  • [2009/09/10 14:53] Mojito Sorbet: Yeah, I know it is lkimited. I was more interested in the general approach. I know I need a *lot* more than that
  • [2009/09/10 14:53] Thickbrick Sleaford: Aimee: did you try NX instead of VNC in your plugin? it's supposed to be better suited to low bandwidth, and it does some content aware compressions
  • [2009/09/10 14:54] Aimee Trescothick: NX only works with X though right?
  • [2009/09/10 14:54] Robin Cornelius: NX is X protocol shoved down assh tunnle + some optimisations
  • [2009/09/10 14:54] Merov Linden: [4]
  • [2009/09/10 14:54] Thickbrick Sleaford: their website says there's translation layers for RDF and VNC
  • [2009/09/10 14:54] Aimee Trescothick: right
  • [2009/09/10 14:54] Merov Linden: ok Mojito, does it answer your question?
  • [2009/09/10 14:55] Mojito Sorbet: The spec? Yes. As far as it goes.
  • [2009/09/10 14:55] Merov Linden: he!
  • [2009/09/10 14:55] Mojito Sorbet: But I need much tighter integration than what just media does
  • [2009/09/10 14:55] Merov Linden: there's always ways to make it better for sure
  • [2009/09/10 14:56] Morgaine Dinova: I'm wondering how the addition of extra API hooks to the plugins is going to be tackled. This is an area where LL will be defining only a subset, I imagine, but it would be nice if the LL subset and all extensions actually interoperated.
  • [2009/09/10 14:56] Merov Linden: I'd like to go through the exercise myself of creating a plugin so to check and improve the doc
  • [2009/09/10 14:56] Aimee Trescothick: we could do with a "Hello World" plug-in example out there for people to start with
  • [2009/09/10 14:56] Merov Linden: Morgaine: I haven't given this any thoughts yet
  • [2009/09/10 14:57] Mojito Sorbet: Yes, a plugin developed for SnowGlobe should eventually work in any of the spin-off viewers
  • [2009/09/10 14:57] Aimee Trescothick: and under something other than GPL would be even better :)
  • [2009/09/10 14:57] Mojito Sorbet: I would think individual plugin authors can decide their own license terms
  • [2009/09/10 14:57] Merov Linden: but I'd like to see how it could be extended to support things like plugins for extra devices
  • [2009/09/10 14:57] Merov Linden: like data gloves and the like
  • [2009/09/10 14:57] Aimee Trescothick: yeah, I was meaning for the example plug-in framework
  • [2009/09/10 14:57] Mojito Sorbet: I am doing some SERIOUS speech interfacing in my plugin
  • [2009/09/10 14:58] Aimee Trescothick: other wise any plug-in you build starting with the example will be GPL
  • [2009/09/10 14:58] Morgaine Dinova: Don't worry about the GPL, plugins communicate via sockets, and sockets are a license barrier.
  • [2009/09/10 14:58] Aimee Trescothick: I'm talking about the example plug-in code itself Morgaine
  • [2009/09/10 14:58] Merov Linden: I think Morgaine is right wrt license
  • [2009/09/10 14:58] Morgaine Dinova: Aimee: ah, I see.
  • [2009/09/10 14:58] Mojito Sorbet: Hmm, spec says it can be in a separate process or the same one
  • [2009/09/10 14:58] Morgaine Dinova: Well we can write a new mini-example for people to extend.
  • [2009/09/10 14:59] Melinda Latynina: what happened to the gesture-driven project? seems like perfect fodder for testing a plug-in archetecture
  • [2009/09/10 14:59] Merov Linden: my point Melinda :)
  • [2009/09/10 14:59] Merov Linden: and the clincher in getting my interest in pluginapi
  • [2009/09/10 15:00] Melinda Latynina: ah good. glad it's not been forgotten
  • [2009/09/10 15:00] Ardy Lay: Did the rose texture load for anybody running Snowglobe?
  • [2009/09/10 15:00] Ardy Lay: Fully load?
  • [2009/09/10 15:00] Thickbrick Sleaford: still 64x128 here
  • [2009/09/10 15:00] Merov Linden: loaded here
  • [2009/09/10 15:00] Morgaine Dinova: Still blurry in snow-1.2.0
  • [2009/09/10 15:00] JIRA-helper: http//jira.secondlife.com/browse/SNOW-1:
  • [#SNOW-1] release of: Snowglobe viewer
  • [2009/09/10 15:00] Melinda Latynina: blurry here
  • [2009/09/10 15:01] Geneko Nemeth: 64*64...
  • [2009/09/10 15:01] Melinda Latynina: snow 1.2
  • [2009/09/10 15:01] Robin Cornelius: 32x64 still here on MK
  • [2009/09/10 15:01] Merov Linden: hmm...
  • [2009/09/10 15:01] Ardy Lay: Merov, how is your viewer different?
  • [2009/09/10 15:01] Thickbrick Sleaford: Ardy: what is the size of the prim?
  • [2009/09/10 15:01] Merov Linden: yes it is actually
  • [2009/09/10 15:01] Morgaine Dinova: Merov uses the "--dont_discard_last_packet" commandline flag
  • [2009/09/10 15:01] Merov Linden: I'm using an old home brewed Mac version
  • [2009/09/10 15:01] Geneko Nemeth: Actually 32*64 but soon became 64*128. "Area" flickers between 0 and 2435 although it fills my screen
  • [2009/09/10 15:02] Ardy Lay: 1.146 x 1.146 x 1.610 meters
  • [2009/09/10 15:02] Merov Linden: no no Morgaine, I've a sikrit --do-the-right-thing option
  • [2009/09/10 15:02] Morgaine Dinova: Hahaha
  • [2009/09/10 15:02] Merov Linden: works all the time
  • [2009/09/10 15:02] Robin Cornelius: oh i've seen this bug before
  • [2009/09/10 15:02] Morgaine Dinova: Merov: that's an uber flag :P
  • [2009/09/10 15:02] Thickbrick Sleaford: it looks like the importance calculation is more broken than the patch in SNOW-48 can fix
  • [2009/09/10 15:02] JIRA-helper: http//jira.secondlife.com/browse/SNOW-48:
  • [#SNOW-48] Not Resolving: On Megaprims - Breaking Holodecks and Off Sim Landscaping Creations
  • [2009/09/10 15:02] Merov Linden: wished he had one
  • [2009/09/10 15:03] Robin Cornelius: the packets did not come in quick enough from the server for the rose texture so the server gets bored of sending them, the viewer tickels the texture on a 15second timer (or 10 seconds for a LL build) and you get another textrue packet
  • [2009/09/10 15:03] Ardy Lay: There are whole gadens full of this problem and the patch posted to SNOW-48 does NOT fix this.
  • [2009/09/10 15:03] Geneko Nemeth: By the way I 've also have stuff coming up with a DecodePri of something like 57489195743104323179047510343721654316487319547389081567381.
  • [2009/09/10 15:03] Merov Linden: This is interesting Ardy
  • [2009/09/10 15:04] Ardy Lay: I have the entire texture in cache yet I only see a little of it.
  • [2009/09/10 15:04] Thickbrick Sleaford: Robin, this seems to happen more on sculpts than regular prims
  • [2009/09/10 15:04] Robin Cornelius: i'm pretty sure its the same issue, i had a patch in omvviewer that increased the time out for the textures to 1 second, but this must hammer the servers
  • [2009/09/10 15:04] Ardy Lay: Decode priority is -1.
  • [2009/09/10 15:04] Robin Cornelius: decreased
  • [2009/09/10 15:04] Mojito Sorbet: Anyone interested in an insanely cool use of a gesture interface watch this TED presentation when you have time: [5]
  • [2009/09/10 15:04] Robin Cornelius: i've got to run anyway, see you all on IRC or next week
  • [2009/09/10 15:04] Ardy Lay: I put that same texture on a cube, then it loads into memory and looks right.
  • [2009/09/10 15:05] Morgaine Dinova: Good TED talk URLs always welcome :-)
  • [2009/09/10 15:05] Morgaine Dinova: Cyu Robin
  • [2009/09/10 15:05] Ardy Lay: I forced importance to camera to 1, it still doesn't fix this.
  • [2009/09/10 15:05] Melinda Latynina: ciao robin
  • [2009/09/10 15:05] Merov Linden: k, we're already over time and we haven't talked about the last item
  • [2009/09/10 15:05] Merov Linden: SNOW-93
  • [2009/09/10 15:05] JIRA-helper: http//jira.secondlife.com/browse/SNOW-93:
  • [#SNOW-93] language translation: of chat messages
  • [2009/09/10 15:06] Mojito Sorbet: Ha. We were experiemnting with that
  • [2009/09/10 15:06] Ardy Lay: Vektor /Oskar cancelled so I have plenty of time. :-)
  • [2009/09/10 15:06] Merov Linden: I don't have much to say about that one myself
  • [2009/09/10 15:06] Merov Linden: Tried it some weeks ago (commented in JIRA)
  • [2009/09/10 15:06] Morgaine Dinova: It kind of works, but hell, the translation needs to be in a different colour !!!!!
  • [2009/09/10 15:06] Mojito Sorbet: We were wondering what the load on Google wopuld be if lots of SL people were using it at once.
  • [2009/09/10 15:07] Merov Linden: diff color a good indea indeed
  • [2009/09/10 15:07] Ardy Lay: Google LOVES load. Sock it to 'em.
  • [2009/09/10 15:07] Aimee Trescothick: yeah, it needs to be more distinct from the original text
  • [2009/09/10 15:07] Morgaine Dinova: It translates too many things that should not be translated though --- when the output is == the input, there's no point. Eg. it translates "lol" to "lol"
  • [2009/09/10 15:07] Merov Linden: Mojito: I don't know but I suppose we don't have to worry about SL overloading Google
  • [2009/09/10 15:08] Merov Linden: Morgaine: yes, there's plenty of misfire in the translation, some funny ones too
  • [2009/09/10 15:08] Melinda Latynina: might be nice to have an option to not pick up non-chat text when copying such as this and friends on/offline, etc.
  • [2009/09/10 15:08] Aimee Trescothick: I think it only does avatar chat at the moment
  • [2009/09/10 15:08] Aimee Trescothick: doesn't it?
  • [2009/09/10 15:09] Mojito Sorbet: I am just not sure Google sized their deployment to deal with thousands of real time conversations going thru it, instead of just the odd "translate this paragraph" requests
  • [2009/09/10 15:09] Mojito Sorbet: Also IMs.
  • [2009/09/10 15:09] Merov Linden: if would work if all of you native English speaker would learn the difference between "its" and "it's"
  • [2009/09/10 15:09] Merov Linden:  :)
  • [2009/09/10 15:09] Aimee Trescothick: oh, misunderstood
  • [2009/09/10 15:09] Melinda Latynina: what i meant was just when copying chunks of text out of chat history, i'd like to be able to have it skip stuff that's not really chat
  • [2009/09/10 15:09] Merov Linden: that makes for hilarious translations in French
  • [2009/09/10 15:09] Mojito Sorbet: Like those ugly chat pictures.
  • [2009/09/10 15:09] Mojito Sorbet: Oh, and please do not translate URLs
  • [2009/09/10 15:10] Melinda Latynina: eep!
  • [2009/09/10 15:10] Morgaine Dinova: Presumably this adds a point of lag to chat, right? Is there a timeout for maximum wait for Google's return?
  • [2009/09/10 15:10] Mojito Sorbet: There is certainly a lag using the HUD translators. At least this approach keeps the region sim out of the loop
  • [2009/09/10 15:11] Ardy Lay: Thickbrick, orientation is < 0, 0, 0>.
  • [2009/09/10 15:11] Twisted Laws: a quicker toggle to turn it on/off would be good so you didn't leave it on all the time
  • [2009/09/10 15:11] Merov Linden: I haven't experienced with any lag, I guess reading the code for provisions for that would be a good thing to do
  • [2009/09/10 15:11] Mojito Sorbet: With some tiny icon up in the menu bar to tell you
  • [2009/09/10 15:12] Melinda Latynina: sounds like a job for a hotkey
  • [2009/09/10 15:12] Mojito Sorbet: yes
  • [2009/09/10 15:12] Merov Linden: indeed
  • [2009/09/10 15:12] Merov Linden: again, lots of good ideas in this conversation
  • [2009/09/10 15:12] Morgaine Dinova: I assume it's a non-blocking wait or we'd have noticed the lag even if < 1s anyway.
  • [2009/09/10 15:12] Merov Linden: please please, do log that in SNOW-93
  • [2009/09/10 15:12] Morgaine Dinova: kk
  • [2009/09/10 15:12] Mojito Sorbet: It is just that sometimes the translation arrives further down in the conversation
  • [2009/09/10 15:13] Merov Linden: has this experience in RL all the time
  • [2009/09/10 15:13] Morgaine Dinova: Hahaha
  • [2009/09/10 15:13] Merov Linden: makes me dull like hell in a bar
  • [2009/09/10 15:13] Morgaine Dinova: Awww
  • [2009/09/10 15:14] Melinda Latynina: blue sky idea: decouple chat from translations so that one could translate past chat that wasn't translated and even retranslate into different languages
  • [2009/09/10 15:14] Melinda Latynina: hm
  • [2009/09/10 15:14] Merov Linden: in an *English* speaking bar that is... meet me in a French bar... :)
  • [2009/09/10 15:14] Morgaine Dinova: Hehe
  • [2009/09/10 15:14] Merov Linden: Melinda: like with 2 columns?
  • [2009/09/10 15:15] Mojito Sorbet: Yes, I use the X-LANG translator HUD, and it allows for that.
  • [2009/09/10 15:15] Mojito Sorbet: Private translations in either direction, and cut/paste
  • [2009/09/10 15:15] Morgaine Dinova: Melinda: interesting idea. You mean in a separate window, or multi column, or integrated?
  • [2009/09/10 15:15] Merov Linden: nice!
  • [2009/09/10 15:15] Melinda Latynina: no, just the way it is now but the translation strings would come and go dynamically or change languages as u change your settings
  • [2009/09/10 15:15] Mojito Sorbet: Let me give you an example.
  • [2009/09/10 15:16] Mojito Sorbet: Say you have translation turned off
  • [2009/09/10 15:16] Mojito Sorbet: And I say something in japanese.
  • [2009/09/10 15:16] Aimee Trescothick: hover-tip translations on lines in chat?
  • [2009/09/10 15:16] Mojito Sorbet: You think, oh darn, translation was off.
  • [2009/09/10 15:16] Mojito Sorbet: So you turn it on, cut and paste from chat history, and get a private translation of what I said
  • [2009/09/10 15:16] Waya Sion: i'm heading out: Merov, feel free to toss me a bear if you have one
  • [2009/09/10 15:17] Melinda Latynina: i'd rather just see the past text now translated as if it had been turned on at the time
  • [2009/09/10 15:17] Aimee Trescothick: right
  • [2009/09/10 15:17] Melinda Latynina: turning off translation would make it vanish
  • [2009/09/10 15:17] Morgaine Dinova: Mojito: even tidier would be for the chat history to auto-update to now include the missed translations
  • [2009/09/10 15:17] Mojito Sorbet: Take a look at the available translation HUDs. They have been evolving thru several versions now, and have a lot o fgood ideas in them
  • [2009/09/10 15:17] Morgaine Dinova: No pasting
  • [2009/09/10 15:17] Ardy Lay: How far back?
  • [2009/09/10 15:17] Melinda Latynina: entire scroll history
  • [2009/09/10 15:17] Merov Linden: Melinda: this all sound great ideas. Dare proposing a patch? :)
  • [2009/09/10 15:17] Ardy Lay: I often have 16 hours of chat history.
  • [2009/09/10 15:17] Morgaine Dinova: Ardy: what's in the scroll history only
  • [2009/09/10 15:18] Melinda Latynina: existing jira or new?
  • [2009/09/10 15:18] Morgaine Dinova: Or that's probably too long, so add another box to give max history length to translate
  • [2009/09/10 15:18] Ardy Lay: My first entry is 8:22AM
  • [2009/09/10 15:18] Mojito Sorbet: How about just a right click on a line of text, and a context menu appears?
  • [2009/09/10 15:18] Melinda Latynina: why too long?
  • [2009/09/10 15:18] Merov Linden: Melinda: existing first
  • [2009/09/10 15:19] Morgaine Dinova: Melinda: some of us never logout, except on viewer or sim crash :-)
  • [2009/09/10 15:19] Merov Linden: unless it becomes so involved
  • [2009/09/10 15:19] Melinda Latynina: that's an optimization that shouldn't be dealt with untill and unless it appears to need it
  • [2009/09/10 15:19] Merov Linden: checks the time and see with horror it's 20 minutes pass time
  • [2009/09/10 15:19] Melinda Latynina: easy to imagine ways to optimize it locally
  • [2009/09/10 15:19] Mojito Sorbet: Another example from X-LANG: turn off translations of chat coming from objects
  • [2009/09/10 15:19] Ardy Lay: Thickbrick, your test pattern has loaded 27% for me
  • [2009/09/10 15:20] Merov Linden: well, that was a fascinating session I need to say
  • [2009/09/10 15:20] Ardy Lay: My rose, 6%
  • [2009/09/10 15:20] Morgaine Dinova: Thanks Merov
  • [2009/09/10 15:20] Merov Linden: lots of ideas
  • [2009/09/10 15:20] Melinda Latynina: thx merov!
  • [2009/09/10 15:20] Ardy Lay: your tree 3%
  • [2009/09/10 15:20] Mojito Sorbet: Look at X-LANG, and another called Q-Translator
  • [2009/09/10 15:20] Thickbrick Sleaford: Ardy: I think there's something specific about your sculpt that causes the area calculation to fail
  • [2009/09/10 15:21] Morgaine Dinova: Jeez, we're super late for UXIG
  • [2009/09/10 15:21] Ardy Lay: I bought that rose bush in a store using 1.22.11 It looked wonderful then.
  • [2009/09/10 15:21] Thickbrick Sleaford: a lot of texture stuff changed in snowglobe
  • [2009/09/10 15:21] Mojito Sorbet: It loks fine to me. But I am not using SG
  • [2009/09/10 15:21] Ardy Lay: ALL the content I got there is now broken in this manner except maybe the sunflowers.
  • [2009/09/10 15:21] Thickbrick Sleaford: that's the point, Mojito
  • [2009/09/10 15:21] Morgaine Dinova: fondly remembers both textures and font reload working in 1.22.11 .... :-(
  • [2009/09/10 15:21] Mojito Sorbet: ah, ok
  • [2009/09/10 15:22] Merov Linden: Ardy: that really points to the fact we need to fix that darn bug...
  • [2009/09/10 15:22] Ardy Lay: The decode priority it dropping to -1 too soon for whatever reason.
  • [2009/09/10 15:22] Merov Linden: thanks for bringing up a use case
  • [2009/09/10 15:23] Thickbrick Sleaford: Ardy's sculpt only gets an areas of arouns 1000. Mine, which is smaller, shows areas of 70000
  • [2009/09/10 15:23] Merov Linden: do you have a region where you get your content? I'd like to go there and experiment myself
  • [2009/09/10 15:23] Ardy Lay: I have posted snapshots in which the store location is legible.
  • [2009/09/10 15:23] Ardy Lay: I can add a SLURL if you like or throw you a landmark.
  • [2009/09/10 15:23] Merov Linden: would be nice
  • [2009/09/10 15:24] Merov Linden: I need interesting landmarks for my tests :)
  • [2009/09/10 15:24] Merov Linden: accepted your inventory offer.
  • [2009/09/10 15:24] Ardy Lay: [6]
  • [2009/09/10 15:24] Merov Linden: thanks!
  • [2009/09/10 15:24] Morgaine Dinova: I don't think Merov meant Zindra ....
  • [2009/09/10 15:24] Merov Linden: I wanted to avoid that one Morgaine
  • [2009/09/10 15:24] Tegg Bode: lol
  • [2009/09/10 15:24] Morgaine Dinova: giggles
  • [2009/09/10 15:24] Techwolf Lupindo: starts sniffing around zindra for tests...
  • [2009/09/10 15:24] Techwolf Lupindo:  :-)
  • [2009/09/10 15:25] Ardy Lay: On the ground below you can see lovely gardens IF you use an older viewer. I even found a few items that didn't load correctly in 1.23.4 but did in 1.22.11
  • [2009/09/10 15:25] Merov Linden: ok guys, it's really getting late (and truly late for some of you...)
  • [2009/09/10 15:25] Merov Linden: I think we need to wrap that meeting
  • [2009/09/10 15:25] Merov Linden: I'll stay around for a little more
  • [2009/09/10 15:25] Morgaine Dinova: Cyu Merov, cheers for good meeting
  • [2009/09/10 15:25] Aimee Trescothick: thanks Merov :)
  • [2009/09/10 15:25] Merov Linden: thanks all for showing up
  • [2009/09/10 15:26] Merov Linden: thanks Morgaine
  • [2009/09/10 15:26] Ardy Lay: Now I see my rose 100%
  • [2009/09/10 15:26] Ardy Lay: I had to put the same texture on a cube.
  • [2009/09/10 15:26] Morgaine Dinova: Yep, it rezzed!
  • [2009/09/10 15:26] Morgaine Dinova: Same as before then Ardy
  • [2009/09/10 15:26] Ardy Lay: Morgaine and I already had that texture in our caches too.
  • [2009/09/10 15:27] Morgaine Dinova: Ardy: well .... that may be supposing too much, just because we had it at 11 am :P
  • [2009/09/10 15:27] Tegg Bode: It dissappears gfor me completly from cetain angles, but that's because I have shadows enabled
  • [2009/09/10 15:27] Ardy Lay: Mine was still there.
  • [2009/09/10 15:28] Morgaine Dinova: UXIG time, cyu peeps
  • [2009/09/10 15:28] Thickbrick Sleaford: maybe the confusion with area calculation is because folliage prims always have a high texture repeat?
  • [2009/09/10 15:28] Aimee Trescothick: waves
  • [2009/09/10 15:28] Thickbrick Sleaford: Ardy, what's the U anv V repeats on your rose?
  • [2009/09/10 15:29] Ardy Lay: Maybe, I haven't found it yet. Let me check the repeat in this.
  • [2009/09/10 15:29] Ardy Lay: U2 V16
  • [2009/09/10 15:31] Thickbrick Sleaford: hmm, changing repeats does seem to affect area column in the texture console
  • [2009/09/10 15:31] Tegg Bode: Cool now the roses are flashing in out of reality
  • [2009/09/10 15:31] Ardy Lay: Hmm... area is displaying zero
  • [2009/09/10 15:31] Ardy Lay: zooms in
  • [2009/09/10 15:31] NikoKito Aries: crash hi again
  • [2009/09/10 15:31] NikoKito Aries: (es->en) hi again crash
  • [2009/09/10 15:31] Melinda Latynina: don't cross the streams!
  • [2009/09/10 15:32] Ardy Lay: Rose = 3844, tree = 577
  • [2009/09/10 15:32] Ardy Lay: Hmm...
  • [2009/09/10 15:32] Ardy Lay: Also, tree is 32x32 at 1% decoded
  • [2009/09/10 15:33] Ardy Lay: Rose is still 100% decoded, 256x512
  • [2009/09/10 15:34] Ardy Lay: So, me not being a programmer, please advise what additional info is needed to track this down.
  • [2009/09/10 15:35] Ardy Lay: Another example, small oak tree.
  • [2009/09/10 15:35] Ardy Lay: It is scripted to change textures.
  • [2009/09/10 15:35] Ardy Lay: Also does not decode completely for me.
  • [2009/09/10 15:36] Ardy Lay: Violet climbing rose is much the same.
  • [2009/09/10 15:37] Thickbrick Sleaford: Ardy, did my tree load for you by now?
  • [2009/09/10 15:37] Ardy Lay: Although, sometimes it does decode, sometimes it does not. Haven't figured out what the variable is.
  • [2009/09/10 15:37] Ardy Lay: 3%
  • [2009/09/10 15:38] Thickbrick Sleaford: the full size is 512x512
  • [2009/09/10 15:38] Ardy Lay: Also, I have moved my camera close
  • [2009/09/10 15:38] Ardy Lay: 100%
  • [2009/09/10 15:38] Thickbrick Sleaford: I reduced the repeat to 1.0 x 1.0
  • [2009/09/10 15:38] Ardy Lay: Loaded when you changed repeat
  • [2009/09/10 15:38] Thickbrick Sleaford: I'm betting it's load now
  • [2009/09/10 15:38] Thickbrick Sleaford: oh
  • [2009/09/10 15:38] Thickbrick Sleaford: that's fast
  • [2009/09/10 15:40] Ardy Lay: So, repeats... how odd.
  • [2009/09/10 15:40] Thickbrick Sleaford: I guess that might explain at least part of this: on normal prims, having a high repeat means you won't be using the high resolution info of the texture
  • [2009/09/10 15:40] Thickbrick Sleaford: but that assumption is broken for weird sculpts
  • [2009/09/10 15:40] Ardy Lay: These may be "weird" but they are in wide use in some regions.
  • [2009/09/10 15:41] Thickbrick Sleaford: obviously
  • [2009/09/10 15:41] Ardy Lay: I have had to cheat to see the scenery.
  • [2009/09/10 15:41] Thickbrick Sleaford: Merov, can you ask the http-texture people about this?
  • [2009/09/10 15:42] Ardy Lay: I buy the product because I like it and it is +copy +mod -trans to I can make helper prims as described in the JIRA.
  • [2009/09/10 15:44] Ardy Lay: I have added a SLURL to the JIRA SNOW-207
  • [2009/09/10 15:44] JIRA-helper: http//jira.secondlife.com/browse/SNOW-207:
  • [#SNOW-207] loading is: failing making content appear to be of poor quality.
  • [2009/09/10 15:44] 1.0x 1.0: repeat whispers: Setting text to object's name, description. Self-removing script.
  • [2009/09/10 15:44] high repeat: whispers: Setting text to object's name, description. Self-removing script.
  • [2009/09/10 15:45] high repeat: whispers: Setting text to object's name, description. Self-removing script.
  • [2009/09/10 15:45] 1.0x 1.0: repeat whispers: Setting text to object's name, description. Self-removing script.
  • [2009/09/10 15:46] Thickbrick Sleaford: yeah, definitely, having a high texture repeat slam the area down
  • [2009/09/10 15:47] Thickbrick Sleaford: I'll add that as a comment on the jira
  • [2009/09/10 15:48] Ardy Lay: Damn. That's big
  • [2009/09/10 15:50] Ardy Lay: Hmm.. The patche helped a little. Now shoving my camera to the center of the sculpted prim can make the texture finish decoding.
  • [2009/09/10 15:51] Ardy Lay: Still will suck the enjoyment of a park.
  • [2009/09/10 15:51] Thickbrick Sleaford: yes
  • [2009/09/10 15:51] Ardy Lay: Still will suck the enjoyment out of a park.
  • [2009/09/10 15:52] Thickbrick Sleaford: I get the feeling whoever wrote this part doesn't spend a lot of time in-world
  • [2009/09/10 15:54] Ardy Lay: Hmm... Uni is using viewer with an older codebase.
  • [2009/09/10 15:54] Ardy Lay: She is not seeing these issues but did look at my screenshots and vote after conferring with a friend.
  • [2009/09/10 15:57] Thickbrick Sleaford: Ardy, can you lower the repeat on the bamboo to 1.0x1.0 ?
  • [2009/09/10 15:57] Second Life: Your object '~*Forest Floor*~ Red Rose Bush I' has been returned to your inventory lost and found folder by Liana Linden from parcel 'Hippotropolis Theater' at Hippotropolis 244, 14 due to parcel auto return.
  • [2009/09/10 15:57] Thickbrick Sleaford: yes, loaded quickly
  • [2009/09/10 15:58] Ardy Lay: It decoded 100%
  • [2009/09/10 15:59] Ardy Lay: Did you wish for me to leave it at 1 x 1?
  • [2009/09/10 15:59] Thickbrick Sleaford: no, it's already loaded for me
  • [2009/09/10 15:59] Thickbrick Sleaford: just wanted to verify my theory
  • [2009/09/10 15:59] Ardy Lay: Watch the oak tree.
  • [2009/09/10 15:59] Harris Emmons: I was here ealier, and I don't really belong, I am trying to find someone who cares about the improvements needed to Inventory, and Rob Linden commented on bringing the WORN tab to Snowglobe
  • [2009/09/10 16:00] Thickbrick Sleaford: everybody belong here
  • [2009/09/10 16:00] Harris Emmons: I am sorry to bother you with such mundane issues, but does anyone here have an idea about who is interested in this issue?
  • [2009/09/10 16:00] Thickbrick Sleaford: Except rob. He wasn't here today.
  • [2009/09/10 16:01] Thickbrick Sleaford: I think it's just a matter of whoever wrote that patch to make a SNOW-xxx patch asking for it to be included in snowglobe
  • [2009/09/10 16:01] Harris Emmons: Oh I know, I was here from the start of the "meeting" thur the O?G whatever
  • [2009/09/10 16:02] Thickbrick Sleaford: oh, didn't see you
  • [2009/09/10 16:02] Harris Emmons: and the multimedia, which sounds exciting
  • [2009/09/10 16:02] Thickbrick Sleaford: the Worn tab patch is already in JIRA?
  • [2009/09/10 16:02] Harris Emmons: Next time I will come as Fox lol
  • [2009/09/10 16:02] Harris Emmons: It is in the other viewers
  • [2009/09/10 16:03] Harris Emmons: and some viewers out there already have it
  • [2009/09/10 16:03] Ardy Lay: I type (worn in search.
  • [2009/09/10 16:03] Thickbrick Sleaford: I think the rule is you are only allowd to contribute stuff you wrote
  • [2009/09/10 16:03] Harris Emmons: Yes Ady, we all do
  • [2009/09/10 16:03] Thickbrick Sleaford: so whoever wrote it has to submit it
  • [2009/09/10 16:03] Ardy Lay: A Worn tab could be handy.
  • [2009/09/10 16:03] Thickbrick Sleaford: otherwise, Linden won't take it
  • [2009/09/10 16:04] Ardy Lay: I also use the filter to find and deactivate active gestures.
  • [2009/09/10 16:04] Harris Emmons: Hey, I am not a techie, I already announced that
  • [2009/09/10 16:05] Harris Emmons: And the fashionistis, which is a large part of SL, want a WORN tab
  • [2009/09/10 16:05] Thickbrick Sleaford: no need to be a probrammer, but you have to be willing to get your hands dirty with JIRA beaurocracy
  • [2009/09/10 16:05] Harris Emmons: but more importantly they want Inventory to be fixed
  • [2009/09/10 16:05] Thickbrick Sleaford: *programmer
  • [2009/09/10 16:05] Harris Emmons: I have sumbitted a an am following the JIRA
  • [2009/09/10 16:06] Ardy Lay: Number?
  • [2009/09/10 16:06] Harris Emmons: Tell me what I need to do to make Inventory worK
  • [2009/09/10 16:06] Thickbrick Sleaford: link?
  • [2009/09/10 16:06] Harris Emmons: VWR2199
  • [2009/09/10 16:06] Thickbrick Sleaford: wow, the chat lag in this sim is annoying
  • [2009/09/10 16:06] Ardy Lay: VWR-2199
  • [2009/09/10 16:06] JIRA-helper: http//jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-2199:
  • [#VWR-2199] "WORN" tab: in Inventory
  • [2009/09/10 16:06] Harris Emmons: I just came here for help
  • [2009/09/10 16:07] Thickbrick Sleaford: genrally, if you want to get Rob/Merov to consider something seriously, put it on the agenda wiki page before the meeting
  • [2009/09/10 16:07] Ardy Lay: This was imported 7 days ago.
  • [2009/09/10 16:07] Thickbrick Sleaford: [7]
  • [2009/09/10 16:08] Harris Emmons: I only knew about this after Rob COMMENTED
  • [2009/09/10 16:08] Thickbrick Sleaford: oh, I see there'a patch already there
  • [2009/09/10 16:08] Harris Emmons: on the JIRA
  • [2009/09/10 16:08] Thickbrick Sleaford: heh
  • [2009/09/10 16:08] Harris Emmons: I did not know it was a meeting
  • [2009/09/10 16:08] Harris Emmons: his profile made it sound like office hours
  • [2009/09/10 16:08] Thickbrick Sleaford: every thursday at 2pm
  • [2009/09/10 16:08] Thickbrick Sleaford: it is, sort of
  • [2009/09/10 16:09] Ardy Lay: Yeah, Rob Linden imported last week and asked the group for comments.
  • [2009/09/10 16:09] Harris Emmons: WELL DUH I am just a reqular SL avatar,
  • [2009/09/10 16:09] Thickbrick Sleaford: we all are...
  • [2009/09/10 16:09] Ardy Lay: So far one person with commit permission has commented positively.
  • [2009/09/10 16:10] Ardy Lay: The person that wrote the patch needs to file a contribution agreement.
  • [2009/09/10 16:10] Harris Emmons: So no on here can help me find someone interested in finding someone who wants to improve INVENTORY?
  • [2009/09/10 16:10] Thickbrick Sleaford: I
  • [2009/09/10 16:10] Thickbrick Sleaford: hmm
  • [2009/09/10 16:11] Thickbrick Sleaford: I'll look at the patch - I do have commit perms and this seems simple enough for me to review
  • [2009/09/10 16:12] Harris Emmons: Thanks Thick
  • [2009/09/10 16:12] Ardy Lay: We can review but the author has to commit it after the review.
  • [2009/09/10 16:12] Thickbrick Sleaford: or say they agree and have a contributor agreement
  • [2009/09/10 16:13] Harris Emmons: Well, if Snowglobe wants to be the preferred viewer and wants Hunters to use it
  • [2009/09/10 16:13] Harris Emmons: they need the WORN tab
  • [2009/09/10 16:13] Ardy Lay: Vadim Bigbear wrote it?
  • [2009/09/10 16:13] Harris Emmons: If you tell me the author, I will contact them
  • [2009/09/10 16:13] Harris Emmons: thank you
  • [2009/09/10 16:14] Harris Emmons: What does Vadim have to do?
  • [2009/09/10 16:14] Ardy Lay: The person that wrote the patch needs to file a contribution agreement.
  • [2009/09/10 16:14] Ardy Lay: Automated note to patch contributor: if you haven't done so already, please make sure you have a contribution agreement on file and that your patch includes an edit to doc/contributions.txt properly crediting yourself for this patch. • [2009/09/10 16:14] Harris Emmons: Thank you
  • [2009/09/10 16:15] Ardy Lay: Copied from the JIRA Vwr-2199
  • [2009/09/10 16:15] Harris Emmons: Is Rob away? As he did not answer me, which is why I came here today
  • [2009/09/10 16:15] Thickbrick Sleaford: don't know
  • [2009/09/10 16:16] Harris Emmons: Okay, any idea on how I find someone who cares about the problems with Inventory?
  • [2009/09/10 16:16] Thickbrick Sleaford: anyway, if you want speedy action, don't look at me. I'm a sloth.
  • [2009/09/10 16:16] Harris Emmons: whatever
  • [2009/09/10 16:16] Ardy Lay: [14:02
  • [14:03] Linden: I'm: the only Linden around so I hope I won't be torn to pieces in my first try hosting the meeting :)
  • [14:03] Linden turns: God mode on just to be safe
  • [2009/09/10 16:17] Thickbrick Sleaford: see you, I have to be going
  • [2009/09/10 16:17] Ardy Lay: See you
  • [2009/09/10 16:17] Thickbrick Sleaford: I'll try to review and add a SNOW issue if none exists
  • [2009/09/10 16:17] Harris Emmons: Oh I plan to connact him, I came back here looking for someone who might have a fire in their belly
  • [2009/09/10 16:18] Harris Emmons: Thank you
  • [2009/09/10 16:18] Thickbrick Sleaford: if you can get Vadim to comment whehter or not they have a contributor agrement filed, that would help
  • [2009/09/10 16:18] Harris Emmons: Thanks
  • [2009/09/10 16:19] Ardy Lay: That's an OLD patch.
  • [2009/09/10 16:19] Harris Emmons: It is
  • [2009/09/10 16:19] Harris Emmons: other viewers have it
  • [2009/09/10 16:19] Ardy Lay: The source may no longer match but it probably will.
