VidTut Request

Don't suppose you could do a video tutorial or two on using the SL Wiki ?

SignpostMarv Martin 15:33, 19 February 2008 (PST)
P.S.- could you upload your vid tuts to your blip.tv account ?
SignpostMarv Martin 17:43, 19 February 2008 (PST)
Marv, I've been thinking of doing one on how to create your own "user page". What did you have in mind? And re: uploading to blip.tv and many other video sites, it's time-consuming for me and I just don't have enough time! So I'm looking for a better way, maybe http://www.tubemogul.com --Torley
re: blip.tv
  • Uploading with FTP
  • Blip.TV-sl-feed transposer- transposes Blip.TV RSS feeds into a plain text format easily parseable by LSL (the transposed feed parser is being worked on in my Lanercost office)
  • Unless Tube Mogul uses APIs to hand videos over to the services, you'd need to hand over your passwords to a third party service, which is never a good idea.

Watermelon Watch

How utterly delightful. --Torley Linden 11:11, 25 February 2007 (PST)

Oh gosh, these crack me up so much! --Torley Linden 14:53, 23 April 2007 (PDT)
Sweet, Microsoft's getting in on the watermelon action! I have no clue what a Popfly is, now I gotta check it out. :D
That's somewhat disturbing. I wonder what Freud would think of it... Daedalus Young 16:13, 8 September 2007 (PDT)
Indubitably delicious. Mmmmm. If I'd steal art, that would be what I'd snatch too. Not that I'm really going to!

  • Watermelon Love animated short WARNING: WHAT IS SHOWN ON THAT VIDEO AND WHAT MIGHT BE IMPLIED BY IT MIGHT NOT BE CONSIDERED APPROPRIATE BY SOME, VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED
I'm not sure what to make up from that video, the 3 things it made me think on: Hanibal Lecter (the character), Venus Fly Trap(the plant) and Hellraiser(the movies). but perhaps I have a very twisted mind and someone else might find only beauty in it. The site mentioned on the end doesn't seem to be there anymore and the wayback machine had some issue in the server it has that site stored.--TigroSpottystripes Katsu 17:47, 10 August 2007 (PDT)

Tru dat! Just wanted to say thanx for continually contributing to this page over the year. I am rich in watermelon goodness, and very appreciative for it. --Torley Linden 09:45, 11 December 2007 (PST)

    • Thanx for sharing Daed, and Happy Holidays! Your friend's art would look fab as a sleek vector T-shirt design. I wonder if she's ever done some before? I browsed through her gallery and she sure has a unique penchant for braided hair! --Torley Linden 17:00, 23 December 2007 (PST)

re:Wacom Intuos3 6x8

How much does it cost to get one of these ?

I'm stuck with a rather cheap-ass graphics tablet at the moment- this is the second one of the same model I've had, due to problems with the first generation model being even more cheap-ass than this one. But as you've seen it still plays nice with ArtRage 2 :-)

SignpostMarv Martin 08:04, 29 January 2007 (PST)

P.S. I'm suspecting you might've got it cheaper from elsewhere, since manufacturers tend to list padded prices.

Mine was 'round CAD$350 and I got it from NCIX. Wacom seems to have quite the hold on graphics tablets — I appreciate their elegance but also wish there was more diversity. I wonder what other alternatives are more affordable but... not cheap in the quality-lacking sense.
--Torley Linden 12:56, 30 January 2007 (PST)
Mine cost GBP£25.
It works, but the graphics pen is rather fragile, and breaks easily. The coating on the pen tends to rub off, and the coating on the first edition of the tablet itself suffered from the same issue.
SignpostMarv Martin 08:30, 31 January 2007 (PST)
What make and model is it?
--Torley Linden 10:26, 31 January 2007 (PST)
P-Active XP-5550A, although the catalogue I bought mine from (Argos) doesn't appear to be stocking them any more.
SignpostMarv Martin 11:15, 31 January 2007 (PST)
BTW, when I say it's fragile, the barrel buttons no longer work, making it a pain in the ass to do anything that requires both right and left clicking.

RE: My united states of whatever... ok i just need sleep

A clever soul suggested (by forum PM) an official FAQ on SL and Vista. I wouldn't imagine it would have to be long just answer a few of the more basic questions that get asked (like: why won't it run, when will it run, and why does it turn the bread on top of my CPU into burnt smoldering bread when in XP it only made toast (it has ruined my breakfast habits)). Said I would pass it along. I did sticky a thread in the RA forum though. In retrospect might have been better to PM; opps. Strife Onizuka 21:03, 31 January 2007 (PST)

Hey Strife, thanks — please ensure that future support-related suggestions go through the Knowledge Base Request page so we can keep track of them. You can show said clever soul my reply here if ye wisheth. Re: Vista, I've asked our Quality Assurance dept.; there are some Lindens like Lawrence and Milo who've had considerable experience. I haven't used Vista yet, but eventually, we'll be updating the KB and System Requirements page.

re: Category:Linden Community Managers

Any chance you could fill the info in here Torley ?
SignpostMarv Martin 07:21, 17 January 2007 (PST)

Hey Marv — I'd like to get more dedicated wiki-editing time in but I've been swamped... when am I not? ;) Seriously though, I super-appreciate your initiative and oodles of contributions here. I've shared the idea with my fellow Community Developers ("Manager" = old terminology) about getting more info about us and Lindens in general into the wiki. It'd be nice to have a more comprehensive "Who Does What".
Torley Linden 10:55, 25 January 2007 (PST)
Heh. I'll get the manager > developer terminology thing updated at a later date. Hope you don't mind, but I've tweaked the talk page layout to be in keeping with the format exhibited in the Wikipedia.

I'm learning the ropes here, this is all good to know. I'm cool with it! But dang, I crave my WYSIWYG.

Are you..

Are you gay? 'cos i see all the pink on your userpage and I just turn all warm and fuzzy inside.. --Felixe Thorne 11:40, 8 February 2008 (PST)

I'm definitely gay in a happy way. But don't forget the green and black, and sometimes yellow. ;) But srsly, in First Life I'm committed to a lovely lady.--Torley

LLQuaternion

I know you don't deal with this, but I don't know who to bug.

Could you possibly ask whoever deals with the Second Life Protocol to update this page to reflect how an LLQuaternion is represented now. When the client sends an "AgentUpdate" request, it sends 12 bytes not 16, as an LLQuaternion should be. Thanks, --Felixe Thorne 11:56, 8 February 2008 (PST)

I'd suggest asking on SLDev. :)--Torley
