Vertical Sim is a concept I came up with about utilising the entire vertical space of a full region for game development purposes.

The current dimensions of a region are 256x256x4096. Typically a lot of this airspace is wasted which is a big shame. This amount of airspace is equivalent to 16 regions with zero sim crossings, which means if you are able to use this well then it opens new possibilities that were unfathomable in SL before. Such as long distance races, large battlefields for vehicles such as main battle tanks across large distances, naval destroyers and even aircraft. Attach a second region and you have doubled the effective amount of space to 32 regions equivalence (although you have region crossings to contend with again it's not a bad deal considering). Your ability to use this space is therefore up to your imagination.

Currently I'm working on two main game concepts: 1. Vehicular combat with multi-crew vehicles or convoys with friends, using artificial gravity and mouselook camera to do combat seamlessly on a vertical battlefield 2. Submarine game where you crew a submarine into an alien ocean. The submarine needs to be maintained regularly and can even have rooms flood. The concept is similar to games like Barotrauma or Subnautica.

Currently you can find these two as work-in-progress at the regions Vertical Sim and Eltheric.
