Torley Linden: Ahhh rezzing in, hello everyone!
Chase Marellan: The really wild thing there is that your nametags were switched. :)
Torley Linden: FRIENDLY GREETINGS!
JenzZa Misfit: friendly greetings !
JenzZa Misfit: lol
Patchouli Woollahra: moo.
Chase Marellan: Hey, Torley!
Nock Forager: So heavy today.
JenzZa Misfit: lol yes Chase that occurs
Chase Marellan: Hi, patch!
Torley Linden: Nice to see you each and all here already! =)
Torley Linden: Wow cool particle effects, I like those!
Patchouli Woollahra: don't mind me, I seem to be missing my legs atm.
JenzZa Misfit: <~Hello~>
Torley Linden: And I have yet to see your whole face rez Patch...
Torley Linden: right now it's just a couple of bulging eyeballz!
Torley Linden: Oh there we go!
Torley Linden: OMG that's a great headband and hair!
Patchouli Woollahra: how's everyone this week?
JenzZa Misfit: ao on
Torley Linden: You look like an anime character. Rite on.
Gumby Roffo: sorry that borked
JenzZa Misfit: ao off
Chase Marellan: Crazy busy as usual. You?
Torley Linden: I'm doing good, it's been a particularly bustling week for me tho, more than usual... !
Patchouli Woollahra: working out of a slight bit of depression.
Torley Linden: I've always liked that, "crazy busy"!
Chase Marellan: :)
Patchouli Woollahra: momentary jealousy and stuff.
Chase Marellan: There's busy and there's crazy busy. :)
Chase Marellan: Sorry to hear that, Patch
Patchouli Woollahra: I mean, honestly, Why bother with Maya for sculpties?
JenzZa Misfit: OR wicked cool crazy busy !
JenzZa Misfit: thats my favorite !
Torley Linden: (Sorry I can't reply to IMs right now during my Office Hour but please feel free to chat in the open here... :) )
Torley Linden: Patch, how do you mean? Elaborate please?
Chase Marellan: ha! I like that too
Patchouli Woollahra: it's a tool that costs over a grand.
Chase Marellan shudders.
Torley Linden: And everyone, welcome to my Office Hour! I hold two of these on Fridays regularly, one NOW and one @ 2 PM Pacific Time.
Torley Linden: *listens*
Patchouli Woollahra: using it to produce builds in SL is overkill.
JenzZa Misfit is happy to FINALLY meet Torley !!
Patchouli Woollahra: so I'm a tad upset that Xenius Ravene at ESC is getting feted for 'zomg Maya'.
Torley Linden: I have seen some insane lovely sculptie stuff done with Maya and imported into Second Life...
Torley Linden: Oh Xenius Revere made one of my favorite chairs! Where is this fete? o.O
Patchouli Woollahra: you know, I can't afford to spend that much.
Gabodium Beck: Hi all :)
Patchouli Woollahra: 12pm noon today, at Dr. Dobbs.
Gumby Roffo: not much to report this week Torley, apart from Windlight is beautiful
JenzZa Misfit: oh i own tons of Xenius stuff !
Torley Linden: Hi Gabodium!
Torley Linden: And nice to meet you too, JenzZa!
Gabodium Beck: how are they?
Torley Linden: Glad you could make it!
Gabodium Beck: Sorry for my bad english hehe... Im from venezuela
JenzZa Misfit: 8= )
Patchouli Woollahra: You should see my Venezuelan on a bad Saturday morning.
JenzZa Misfit: *hairbow*
Torley Linden: I personally like a lot of cheap and/or free tools... but in some cases, I haven't found alternative solutions, e.g., video editing and 3D modeling of course.
Patchouli Woollahra once got arrested for saying hello to a passerby in venezuela.
Harleen Gretzky: There are other cheaper programs like Blender
Patchouli Woollahra: as it turns out, my tongue was screwing up.
Gumby Roffo: Blender is free
Torley Linden: Patch, what *do* you prefer using for sculpties right now? If you could get Maya, would you? Isn't there a trial Educator version that watermarks your stuff, but is free-to-use?
Gumby Roffo: I 'll be playing with that this weekend
Patchouli Woollahra: I was telling the guy to stick his head in his posterior and fry his hair.
Harleen Gretzky: feted = Feted Inner Core?
Gabodium Beck: Torley i have a problem with the Windlight version. YOu can help me?
Patchouli Woollahra: You see the problem there, Torley: watermarked.
Torley Linden: Ah pardon, correct me, yes of course... Blender... I have not found it easy to use as Wings3D, for example (but I haven't dabbled in these specific apps a lot).
Torley Linden: Gabodium, can you please describe? :)
Torley Linden: And glad to hear some of you are using WindLight.
Patchouli Woollahra: I'm trying not to go Prokofy, but I think I'm beginning to understand how he feels. :(
JenzZa Misfit: *whoa*
Gabodium Beck: Yes... I canot see the windlight water...
Moard Ling manages to arrive without a viewer update :)
Torley Linden: Patch: So the thing here is, you already know how to use Maya, but it's not as affordable as you'd like it to be?
Torley Linden: Gabodium: What graphics card do you have, and is it updated to newest drivers? Are you able to see WindLight skies?
Gabodium Beck: I send you a note card
Gabodium Beck: With my sytem info
Torley Linden: My brother is pretty proficient in Maya, but I don't know.
Patchouli Woollahra: trust me, Maya is overkill.
Torley Linden: Maya has so many... controls.
Gumby Roffo: yes they all have
Patchouli Woollahra: we're talking about a software that has actual hair rendering, character animation tools (that don't work with SL)
Torley Linden: OK Gabodium. Are you familiar with the Issue Tracker already too? We use it to track and fix WindLight issues.
Patchouli Woollahra: http://jira.secondlife.com is your friend.
Torley Linden: http://jira.secondlife.com/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?mode=hide&requestId=10970 is a list of open WindLight bugs.
Gumby Roffo: still trying to work out some of the GIMP ones
Patchouli Woollahra: also: giant friendly bumblebees.
Torley Linden: Patch: Have you played with PloppSL? I can't remember if you did. It was fun and I haven't touched it in a few weeks but it was very simple.
Gabodium Beck: I send a mensage to LL.
Patchouli Woollahra: Torley: I did.
Torley Linden: Haha "giant friendly bumblebee" reminds me of Bee Movie.
Patchouli Woollahra: but the shadowing and stuff is a tad depressing.
Torley Linden: Gabodium: Where did you send that? =)
JenzZa Misfit: i have one in inventory !! that you ride !
Gabodium Beck: With snapshoots...
JenzZa Misfit: er . fly
Patchouli Woollahra: Elle Linden has one buzzing around her office.
Gumby Roffo: lol
JetZep Zabelin: hi =)
Torley Linden: Hey JetZep!
Patchouli Woollahra left a screening of Beowulf yesterday a bit early.
Gumby Roffo: G'DAY MATE !!
Torley Linden: Why did ya leave early?
Gabodium Beck: 1 moment....
Moard Ling: Antz now Bee Movie, I'm hoping for Caterpillars newxt
Torley Linden: I like putting apostrophes in words whenever possible.
Patchouli Woollahra: I think I freaked out when what's her name rose out of the water.
Torley Linden: Angelina Jolie?
Patchouli Woollahra: yeah.
Torley Linden: Covered in gold or somesuch thing? (I didn't see it.)
Patchouli Woollahra: i was like "OMIGOD, I'm GOING TO BE SLAMMED INTO BY A PAIR OF GIANT BOOBS!"
Buddy Halcali: Good morning everyone! :)
Patchouli Woollahra: 3d movies.
Patchouli Woollahra: they suck.
Gumby Roffo: G'day Buddy
Torley Linden: Good morning Buddy!
Chase Marellan: Hi, Buddy!
Torley Linden: I've never seen a big-screen 3D movie, only ones at home...
Buddy Halcali: How are we all doing today?
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Dizzy Banjo: greetings :D
Torley Linden: Doing ultra, and yourself Buddy? Welcome to my Office Hour!
Patchouli Woollahra: trust me, it's overkill season in the visual arts apparently.
Torley Linden: Friendly greetings Dizzy!
Dizzy Banjo: hey patch
Patchouli Woollahra: oh wait, I think I've already used this avatar this week.
Dizzy Banjo: jenz :)
Buddy Halcali: I'm doing great, thanks for asking. I pulled an over-nighter, saw thought I would attend your office hour.
Dizzy Banjo: chase !
Torley Linden: Oooh.
JenzZa Misfit: Dizzy !!!
Moard Ling: Was the gold mean to be clothing ?
Chase Marellan: Dizzy!!!
Gumby Roffo: SO have you been able to find time to visit Sims Torley
JenzZa Misfit: : _
Patchouli Woollahra: Moard: was the ponytail meant to be a tentacle?
Torley Linden: Patch, well one thing I recall when computer-generated effects in movies started becoming very popular was "A lot of people are going to overuse it at first, and then tone it down later when they better understand its strengths & limitations..."
Torley Linden: That's what often happens with new tools and toys I think.
Dizzy Banjo: i just came from a nice informative exhibition about St Nicholas
Patchouli Woollahra: yeaah... right.
Torley Linden: I haven't had the time, Gumby, alas.
Moard Ling hastily rebakes
Dizzy Banjo: are you talking about "glow" by any chance ?
Dizzy Banjo: lol
Gumby Roffo: kk
Patchouli Woollahra: if they're toning it down, how come I was going to get slammed int the face by enhanced AJ bewbies?
Torley Linden: HAHAHA Dizzy, well my beloved (Ravenelle) had a few words to say on that topic.
Patchouli Woollahra: Anyone can cook?
Dizzy Banjo loves glow actually
Torley Linden: I have seen some glow "fashion attrocities" thus far.
Dizzy Banjo: lol
Gumby Roffo: yes complete glowing cars
Patchouli Woollahra: Glow is best used as accents.
Torley Linden: Glowing cars is good for Tron-like vehicles but... hay wut can I say, itz da NU BLING.
Dizzy Banjo: i think SL is gonna turn into some giant neon cyberpunkfest
Gumby Roffo: burns your retnias
Dizzy Banjo: yeah
Patchouli Woollahra: My Mieppe Bluetail avatar has a slight glow here and there.
JenzZa Misfit: \o/
JenzZa Misfit: || Yay!
JenzZa Misfit: / \
JenzZa Misfit: ***Torley ! - I own an old class 4 island ** old school SL ! ** and ::: **wait do you answer sim performance tekkietype questions ? **
Patchouli Woollahra: Dizzy: you mean it isn't already?
Torley Linden: I'd like a Blade Runner-esque spinner that glows subtlely as I get in and riiiide.
Dizzy Banjo: its nice combined with particles.. they sort of "meld"
Moard Ling: If your gonna cover someone is gold at least make it Jennifer Jason Leigh
Patchouli Woollahra: Class 4 is usable. just don't run Darklife-type games.
Dizzy Banjo: ooo yeh torley.. mmm
JenzZa Misfit: oh its being used alright ! lol
Dizzy Banjo: oops wrong one
Patchouli Woollahra: a few weeks back, an announcement was wired over Concierge that Class 3s were being retired in favor of class fours or class 5s (for willing upgraders)
JenzZa Misfit: but things are so so so so slow . and I wonder if havok4 will improve things for the older builds
Patchouli Woollahra: I'm not sure if that offer stands or counts currently.
Torley Linden: JenzZa I'm not the best Linden to ask about that, I used to know more about relative region performance a year ago but... I'd recommend since you own an island (congrats) you're entitled to ask Concierge Team for details too. You should've gotten contact info for them after your island was delivered.
Patchouli Woollahra: JenzZa: before hoping for boosts from vaporware, look at your content.
JenzZa Misfit: yes .. but i cant upgrade from 4....to 5 ...I was told
JenzZa Misfit: oh yes .. I will contact Ethan or Izzy .. ty Torley
Dizzy Banjo: glowbling..lol
Patchouli Woollahra: listens, sensors and excessive abuse of timers to run intensive functions can lag a sim badly.
JenzZa Misfit: I just wanted to ask a question ! :)
Torley Linden: *stares at the *Glowy Thing* *
Torley Linden: Thanks for sharing your experiences Patch!
Patchouli Woollahra: as can allowing for insane amounts of avatars.
Patchouli Woollahra: 100 avatars in a nightclub is NOT recommended.
Torley Linden: No worries JenzZa... anyone who knows is always free to SHARE KNOWLEDGE at my Office Hours. =)
Chase Marellan: :)
JenzZa Misfit: Patch is there sort of a rule of thumb for number or scripts running ? cuz that is BAD :: my Script run time number
Chase Marellan: And Patch is very knowledgable
Patchouli Woollahra: Paradise Island, I'm looking at you on Saturday nights :(
JenzZa Misfit: /my is embarrased to admit how bad
Patchouli Woollahra: it's not just the matter of the script ips.
Patchouli Woollahra: some script instructions are intensive by nature.
Torley Linden: I was at an island with 100 avatars (including myself) and getting 15 FPS in the midst of the crowd with Avatar Impostors (from WindLight) on, that was pretty good. Region performance was alright... Sim FPS of 35-45.
JenzZa Misfit: ooo ! Patch will you come visit me sometime and see what you think ?
Gumby Roffo: bugger
Gumby Roffo: a small hickup with version changes
Patchouli Woollahra: Torley: but in the meantime, the poor server was probably choking to death.
JenzZa Misfit: nice melons
Torley Linden: Gumby, I like the Santa Hat, not sure how the rest of the outfit works but it's certainly flamboyant, welcome back!
JenzZa Misfit: er .. on the table i mean !
Torley Linden: Hahahaha thanx. =)
Torley Linden: Mmmm melons.
Patchouli Woollahra: I've been told that several times with this avatar today.
JenzZa Misfit: LOL
Chase Marellan: hahaha
Dizzy Banjo: lmao jenz
Gumby Roffo: ah I was at a christmas function before
Torley Linden: And JenzZa you know in Region/Estate controls in Debug tap, you can Get Top Scripts right?
Gumby Roffo: just a tick
Chase Marellan: that is quite the funky avatar, Patch
JenzZa Misfit: oh yes .. I do
Torley Linden: Hahaha a "Christmas function", that's goood! =)
Torley Linden: Right on JenzZa. ^_^
Patchouli Woollahra: When is Linden Labs Brighton hosting a thank-you dinner for European Concierges?
JenzZa Misfit: I hate taking things up !! I love fun things !! fun things have scripts ! ! lol
Patchouli Woollahra wants to see a LL invite with "Tonite, we dine with Elle!" printed on it before 300 grows stale.
Torley Linden: I don't know Patch, but seeing as how we're getting so international, I'd presume such events become more likely in the future!
Torley Linden: OMG JOHNNY NUMBER 5!
Torley Linden: Hahahah Patch... that's so funny.
Torley Linden: I like the 300 trailer. A lot. With the Nine Inch Nails music.
Gumby Roffo: right back to normal
Moard Ling: Oh wheres ali sheedy
Patchouli Woollahra: This is madness!
Dizzy Banjo: lol
Patchouli Woollahra: madness? This Is OFFICE HOUUUR!
Dizzy Banjo: haha
Patchouli Woollahra proceeds to kick the nearest Resi off the platform in a AR-inducing way.
Torley Linden: HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAA.
Torley Linden: That makes me laugh so much.
JenzZa Misfit: ty Patch :)
Gumby Roffo: and no I didnt makee this
Torley Linden: I routinely play "Just Like You Imagined" during bug triaging, so if you ever wonder what I'm listening to...
Torley Linden: either that or the whole ES Posthumus album.
Torley Linden: Gumby, that's a great avatar.
Moard Ling: This film was originally conceived as a dark high-tech thriller. Number 5 was originally intended to be the villain of the picture: an out-of-control, heavily-armed military robot that had escaped from the lab that had developed him. After several script revisions, the darker elements were toned down and the film became a high-tech comedy.
Patchouli Woollahra has been meaning to show you the two full avatar builds she made over the past fortnight.
Torley Linden: I grew up liking robots and dinosaurs very much, and in Second Life, we have many of them.
JenzZa Misfit: i hate it when I accidently trigger :: " baby got back ! " gesture .. and its the WHOLE song !!
Torley Linden: Moard, that freakin' cracks me up, I remember reading something like that on Wikipedia.
JenzZa Misfit: woops
Gumby Roffo: from Alien Planet
Torley Linden: Hahaha JenzZa!
Dizzy Banjo: hahaha
Chase Marellan just saw Gumby for the first time. Cool!
JenzZa Misfit: SERIOUS !
Torley Linden: Some of those gestures can get really elaborate.
JenzZa Misfit: lol
Patchouli Woollahra: last week was a disaster for my laptop. this week, I got my fixed laptop back.
Patchouli Woollahra: Torley: too much space on gestures.
Torley Linden: Aw. :\
Patchouli Woollahra: I still wish we had logic If Thens on gestures.
JenzZa Misfit: ooOo ! I just ordered a new laptop ** having it built ! *** from Santa !
Gumby Roffo: i still have to get off my butt and make a gumby AV
Chase Marellan: heheheh...
Moard Ling: I still have 50 trash cans in my inv
Gumby Roffo: after I get permission
Patchouli Woollahra: Gumby: word of advice: god no.
Patchouli Woollahra: any Gumby av will be invariably disappointing.
Chase Marellan: that's 2 words. :)
Torley Linden: Do you Moard? Argh, did I try to run a fix for you before, do you remember?
Dizzy Banjo has been screamingly irritated with gesture editing recently...
JenzZa Misfit: LOL
JenzZa Misfit seconds the motion that :: that was 2 words
Patchouli Woollahra: learn what the medium is capable of and tailor your design to it.
Moard Ling: No fix T
Torley Linden: Moard, I'll try a workaround on your account... can you please try to quickly relog in about 10 seconds?
Dizzy Banjo: trying to push the medium beyond its capabilities patch.. lol
Patchouli Woollahra: I didn't and look what happened to this avatar: floating ponytails frozen in mid-whip.
Torley Linden: If it's not too disruptive... otherwise relog later.
JenzZa Misfit: *cue misfit theme **
Chase Marellan: Dizzy: that's the best way. We'll never progress unless people do!
Torley Linden: Mid-whip! Ghostride the whip!
Moard Ling: ahem *its not my main accoutn*
Torley Linden: Moard: Oh, can you IM me with the name?
Patchouli Woollahra 's Gnomish Mohawk just turned lvl 70 today.
Torley Linden: I understand if it needs to be private!
Chase Marellan: I like the flying ponytails. :)
Patchouli Woollahra: they're actually power cables xD
JenzZa Misfit: Gumby .. um ....did you look like that when you and I were flying on Rendezvous ?!?!!/
JenzZa Misfit squints
Patchouli Woollahra: Androids: it's amazing what you can throw on an avatar and still look normal when you're not human technically.
Torley Linden: Hahahaha.
Torley Linden: That's Second Life for ya, eh?
Patchouli Woollahra aiees as Dizzy Banjo sends her a LM to a Microsoft exhibition.
Dizzy Banjo: lol
Torley Linden: I like how SL has developed a culture of its own over time... our own cliches and memes and whatnot.
Patchouli Woollahra: Freshly filtered Linden water.
Moard Ling: What did anyone think of the droids in "I Robot ?"
Gumby Roffo: LOL can do that too
Chase Marellan: Very true. And sometimes it's hard to remember that not everybody knows and understands it!
Patchouli Woollahra: that was a bit on the edge of the eerie valley.
Torley Linden: I didn't see "I, Robot" because I felt it wasn't true to the Asimov lineage of the same name... but I've seen avatars based on those droids and they are freaky kewl.
Patchouli Woollahra: why are the people dancing around the glittery ball and sitting in chairs for hours doing nothing?
Chase Marellan: They were kind of eerie. I was just glad to see Alan Tudyk working.
Torley Linden: I wouldn't invite them over for dinner but I'd stand and laugh!
JenzZa Misfit: like :: woot ! ... what is woot ? lol
Dizzy Banjo: yeh its not really asimov at all
Torley Linden: Alan Tudyk, that name sounds familiar to me for some reason...
Patchouli Woollahra: Please don't do that, Torley. It hurts robot feelings.
Torley Linden: what else have I seen him in...
Chase Marellan: Yeah, what the heck IS woot?
Dizzy Banjo really wants Foundation to be made into film
Torley Linden: Hahaha.
Torley Linden: There's an IWOOT.
JenzZa Misfit: we dont know ! but we all say it ..lol
Patchouli Woollahra: woot is an expression of joy.
Chase Marellan: Torley: played Wash in Firefly
JenzZa Misfit: wooties!!
Patchouli Woollahra: wewt wewt!
JenzZa Misfit: lol
Torley Linden: AHHHH thanx Chase, that's it!
JenzZa Misfit: love that one ! Patch
Torley Linden: w3wt.
Moard Ling: Foundation rocks
Patchouli Woollahra sampled that off her voice.
Gumby Roffo: love fire fly
Gumby Roffo: and serenity
Chase Marellan loved Firefly but has refused to watch it since Serenity came out.
JenzZa Misfit: cute ! capital K ! *kewt *
Patchouli Woollahra: Moard: agreed. most women I spoke to agree that Foundation is a must.
Torley Linden: How come Chase?
Dizzy Banjo: infact... i composed an entire film trailer piece based on the "prime radiant"
Chase Marellan: Which one is your voice, Patch?
Moard Ling: Jounreyman is great at the mo
Patchouli Woollahra: wewt wewt!
Chase Marellan: Did you see it, Torley?
Torley Linden: Foundation is one of the great sci-fi epics...
JenzZa Misfit: LOL !!
Torley Linden: I didn't see Serenity, just episodes of Firefly. Not all of them.
Dizzy Banjo: check it : http://tinyurl.com/2we4dk
Torley Linden: I am a big, big fan of Dune.
Patchouli Woollahra: and yeah, I had to submit my personal credentials for age verification.
Torley Linden: (Hence the watermeloney sandworm in my front yard here.)
Chase Marellan: Ah. Well, suffice to say that there was a tragic event that I was really aggravated out.
Torley Linden: I was really happy to see Dune-esque RPGs in Second Life.
Moard Ling: are there any mor educn minis eries in the pipeline ?
Patchouli Woollahra: this was in the days before 'age verification Mark 2"
Torley Linden: Oh, I spoiled the ending for myself Chase... I think I getcha!
Moard Ling: *dune mini series
JenzZa Misfit: I knew I recognized that worm
Chase Marellan: I'm all for drama, but it MUST have a payoff. This had no payoff and I'm still greiving.
Patchouli Woollahra: aka "Hello, I'm Mickey Mouse and I'd like to verify that I'm of adult age."
Harleen Gretzky: lol, stake through the chest?
Gumby Roffo: magicly some how emails torley the Fire DVDs an serenity
Torley Linden: Moard, not that I know of... I just saw the Sci-Fi series ones... I would like to have more.
Chase Marellan: Yes, Harleen, that would be it
Torley Linden: There's one very beautiful song from the Dune miniseries, it's good working music too...
Patchouli Woollahra: Chase will hate Half-Life 2.
Chase Marellan: I would have been OK with it if there was some FRAKING PAYOFF
Chase Marellan: :)
Moard Ling: Doesnt foundation run into the robots storyline ?
Torley Linden: Yeah, Robots & Foundation.
Dizzy Banjo: yeh eventually
Torley Linden: Er, Robots & Empire?
Dizzy Banjo: it gets a bit crappy by then tho
Chase Marellan: But there wasn't. It was just senseless and there was no opportunity for the emotional release that was necessary.
Dizzy Banjo: lol
Torley Linden: I read that awhile back.
Moard Ling: not read that one
Torley Linden: I like Robots of Dawn...
Dizzy Banjo: the first 3 foundation series are the only "proper" ones really
Torley Linden: I played the classic Commodore 64 game... it was a text adventure that used many (well, 16) colors for different blocks of text...
Patchouli Woollahra: Here's a spoiler: Snape Kills Isaac Asimov!
Chase Marellan: Bwahahaha!
Patchouli Woollahra: Torley: text based games ftw.
Torley Linden: Aw scroo that.
Torley Linden: I liked nethack too...
Torley Linden: Oh Gumby you just have a lot of fun avs dontcha!
Moard Ling: Always like Snape
Torley Linden: I think it's always rewarding to see really fun avatars at my Office Hours.
Torley Linden: And, this is a beautiful beautiful song from the Children of Dune show... http://youtube.com/watch?v=TvilAUufaVQ
Chase Marellan: Love the smoke coming out of your head, Patch! I feel that way most days. :)]
Torley Linden: It's a great "life cycle, destruction and creation" composition.
Moard Ling: I thought Christpher Lee was meant to on the good side in Star Wars
Patchouli Woollahra: yeah, I did that after my laptop fire.
Torley Linden: Mee too Moard, but what do you expect from a guy who played Dracula?
Torley Linden: Hahaha.
Patchouli Woollahra: Children of Dune... what about Pets, Children and Houseplants of Dune?
Chase Marellan: Good grief, never actually caught fire
Patchouli Woollahra: also: teh Butlerian Jihad.
Torley Linden: Reminds me of... Houseplants of Gor?
Patchouli Woollahra: which is apparently what comes to my mind:
Moard Ling: Dune the musical ?
Torley Linden: Haha, I'd like to see the Baron Harkonnen dancing on stage.
Patchouli Woollahra: a group of butlers with suicide bombs on their finely tailored coats screaming Dirka Dirka.
Chase Marellan: I did manage to get a complete replacement on warrantee after innocently asking support -- who I'd called for something else -- "by the way, is it supposed to smell like smoke?"
JenzZa Misfit: lol
Torley Linden: Jim Broadbent could play him, similar to his role in Moulin Rouge.
Dizzy Banjo has never quite understood how Toto puled off such a cool soundtrack for Dune..
Moard Ling: lol
Torley Linden: Yeah, that Dune soundtrack kicked ASS SO MUCH!
Moard Ling: or timothy Spall
Torley Linden: I love that Dune soundtrack.
Patchouli Woollahra: It's Toto: they're real far away from Kansas.
Torley Linden: The Desert Theme was my waking music for months!
Dizzy Banjo: lol
Dizzy Banjo: ah yeh.. thats eno though
Torley Linden: They're definitely not in Africa either.
Torley Linden: ;)
Dizzy Banjo: lol
Torley Linden: Dizzy: Oh no, that's the Prophecy Theme...
Dizzy Banjo: oh ok
Torley Linden: The Desert Theme is the really pumped-up one with piano chording and horns.
Dizzy Banjo: oh ok
Patchouli Woollahra: Other band rocking via excessive foreigness: Alphaville - they're big in Japan.
Dizzy Banjo: well yeh in general i was blown away
Torley Linden: http://torley.com/one-of-the-greatest-musical-compositions-of-all-time-is :)
Dizzy Banjo: the sequence as they first fold space is awesome
Patchouli Woollahra: How does one fold space?
Moard Ling forgets how good the dune mini series' were
Torley Linden: The Guild Navigator is so awesome.
Patchouli Woollahra: very very carefully.
Torley Linden: All these memories come back!
Gumby Roffo: ahh yes
Torley Linden: Aw dang the Desert Theme preview clip doesn't work, link must be broke. :\
Moard Ling: you cant fold space more than 8 times in half
Dizzy Banjo: lol listening to torleys post
Gumby Roffo: 7
Patchouli Woollahra: it's been empirically proven.
Torley Linden: Hahaha Moard, that reminds me of something I read on the Internet.
Torley Linden: I tried to do that, I was awed.
Dizzy Banjo pulls it up in iTunes.. lol
Moard Ling: must be true if its on the itnerent
Torley Linden: I'd like to see realistic paper airplanes in Second Life.
Chase Marellan: You tried to fold space more than 8 times?
Patchouli Woollahra chews on the flesh of a young virgin... ... coconut.
Torley Linden: Wikipedia is source material for me... often!
Torley Linden: I remember when there was a Second Life for XBox or HDTV (?) article tho, and I was like... "WUT??!?!?"
Dizzy Banjo: incidentally Torley .. i did a massive comment on your monologue on your blog.. and it never appeared :(.. infact i cant seem to comment at all.. lol
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/16010
Gumby Roffo: no but I have tried to fold paper
Patchouli Woollahra: I can understand the WTF, Torley.
Torley Linden: (That article was obviously incorrect.)
Gumby Roffo: and thas 7
Torley Linden: Argh that sux Dizzy, when did you try to comment? What error did you get?
Patchouli Woollahra: if it was happening, nobody was telling you.
Moard Ling: very myth you ahve ever known seems to be debunked in Wikipeida

Gumby Roffo: Anne from SLex?
Patchouli Woollahra: "oh noez, sexual ageplay!"
Torley Linden: That sounds like among one of the more amusing... camping-things.

JenzZa Misfit: ok that looks odd ..........
JenzZa Misfit: lol
Torley Linden: Haha Patch, I have a good feeling what you're gonna say... =)
Patchouli Woollahra: Pushing your grandma down the stairs will protect her from the terrible secret of space,
Torley Linden: Oh yeah, the new Futurama DVD is out!
Patchouli Woollahra: Shoving your grandma will produce the same effect.
Moard Ling: Will there a Tutorial blooper real out for Christmas ?
Torley Linden: I gotta see that, I like their tales a lot.
Patchouli Woollahra: and last but not least: Paik Chooie Unf.

Torley Linden: Haha that's gotta be an affront to Blue Man Group.

Chase Marellan: that is great, gumby!
aliceinwire Bleac: but i was the owner of a site that was sharing anime
Moard Ling: an for evil bender all you need is a goatee
Patchouli Woollahra: "AR for sexual ageplay: someone is biting Patchouli Woollahra's ass."

Torley Linden: Haha Gumby sure has a good collection of robot avs thus far!
Patchouli Woollahra: certain countries have legislation that bans their citizens from providing manual verification items to Aristotle.
Patchouli Woollahra: Canada is one of them.
Gumby Roffo: I love robots
Moard Ling: Kate Winslet bot ?
JenzZa Misfit: yah Patch ...what a mess I would think
JetZep Zabelin: i cant get the age verify to work for me

Patchouli Woollahra: we're talking months in PMITA prison.
aliceinwire Bleac: moonalisa overdrive
Patchouli Woollahra: or worse: Redfern.
Gumby Roffo: ???*^%(&^% shirt arm
Dizzy Banjo has never even encountered age verification.. maybe its because im a freeloading basic accounter .. :D
Chase Marellan: wow
JenzZa Misfit: Dizzy ! lol
Chase Marellan is stunned at the idea that the government can ban you from giving out information on yourself.
JenzZa Misfit: isnt that a FLBA ?
aliceinwire Bleac: mona is a a fantastic character
JenzZa Misfit: lol
Chase Marellan: hahahaha!
Patchouli Woollahra: Chase: they can, yes.
Chase Marellan: Wow.
Torley Linden: Hahah Dizzy, you mean you're an FBA? We have terms for those kinda people! *wink wink, I kid...*
Patchouli Woollahra: I think age verification will take a looong time to leave beta.
Moard Ling: just come to the Uk we give away infromation on Cds
Dizzy Banjo: lol
JenzZa Misfit: SLacker ! <-- joke
Torley Linden: I started out as a Basic account but, mine was not free... was US$10 at the time.
Torley Linden: International rules + regulations can get very complex.
aliceinwire Bleac: :)
Dizzy Banjo: i pay with my intellectual input :D
Chase Marellan: really!
Patchouli Woollahra: but you got L$50 ish per week for every week you logged in right?
Moard Ling: 25e6 details at the last count
Dizzy Banjo: lol
Chase Marellan: You're doing a good job there, Dizzy. :)
Torley Linden: Dizzy, you know what, I once said something like that, and it's true, that's valuable. Knowledge is intangible but as a resource, the more you use it, the more there is.
JenzZa Misfit: awww.... you do Dizzy .. plus all those L bux from lindendBuxcheap.com ! <--- fake
Torley Linden: Scope, the new Apple Store in Manhattan reminds me of your architecture! The big glass stairway, anyway.
Patchouli Woollahra: I wish we could say the same for peak oil.
Dizzy Banjo: lmao jenz
stimpy Tripp: Hi. Public meeting, I assume?
Scope Cleaver: Hello Torley, everyone
xstimpy: Hallo. Allgemeine Sitzung, nehme ich an?
Dizzy Banjo: hey scope
Torley Linden: Sure thing stimpy! One of my Office Hours!
Chase Marellan: Hi, Scope!
Torley Linden: Hello and welcome!
Patchouli Woollahra: either that or we're passing an invisible bong around.
waelya Tenk: hi there!
Gumby Roffo: very public
Patchouli Woollahra takes a puff and passes the invisible bong around to Gumby.
Gumby Roffo: welcome
JenzZa Misfit: lol
Chase Marellan: hahahaha Patch!
Moard Ling: Antoe played wuth the Asus ?
Torley Linden: "HE'S GOT A BONG!!!!" (from the new Harold & Kumar 2 trailer...)
Dizzy Banjo: ah.. prophecy theme is truly majestic
JenzZa Misfit: lol !
waelya Tenk: ops!
Torley Linden: Dizzy, yeah, Brian Eno... amazing.
Patchouli Woollahra starts singing the "I'm f---ing wasted' song.
waelya Tenk: what happen me? hhaha
Torley Linden: GODFATHER OF AMBIENT, I mean heck, that's gotta count for something, right?
Patchouli Woollahra: Torley: all that means is that they came in pretty early.
stimpy Tripp: Windlight office meeting, Torley?
xstimpy: Windlight Bürositzung, Torley?
Gumby Roffo: /Ao off
Torley Linden: stimpy, no, just my "usually unusual" Office Hour...
Moard Ling: You wann to hear "Friendly Fire" do the Dick song in SL
stimpy Tripp: ah
Patchouli Woollahra: ah, so THAT'S what Office meeting in German is.
Patchouli Woollahra: Burositzung?

Torley Linden: Hey hey Susie! Glad you could make it here!
Scope Cleaver: I think Thursday afternoon is one of his best
stimpy Tripp: Nothing to report from me. Sl seems fine. honestly.
Patchouli Woollahra: I can only imagine what they write on Confederation of Democratic Sims council meetings.
Torley Linden: WindLight info-page @ http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Windlight and Office Hour times are down a bit, just scrollll...
JetZep Zabelin: lol
Chase Marellan: hey susie
Patchouli Woollahra: burositzung en Ulrika ZUgswang.
Torley Linden: Wow, that's a profound name, Patch. Ripe for a sci-fi epic.
Susie Preez waves
Patchouli Woollahra: we need to make burositzung a user lastname.
Torley Linden: "Burositzung" eh? Learn something new every day.
Torley Linden: I like the translator devices I've seen in SL...
Dizzy Banjo: Torley did you ever try SSEYO Koan Pro ?
Patchouli Woollahra: Frank Burositzung.
JetZep Zabelin: hey Torley your house is a good repro for that camera bug O.o
Torley Linden: Dizzy, no I didn't but heard good things about it (and Eno's participation) in it...
Patchouli Woollahra: Joel Burositzung.
Torley Linden: I am very fond of the notions of generative music.
Patchouli Woollahra: perfectlyuseless burositzung.
Torley Linden: Music that evolves, live remixing, all that stuff warms my heart.
stimpy Tripp: Heh. Some german guy was building a house in my build-okay house plot.
Patchouli Woollahra: can we has MIDI in SL yet?
Dizzy Banjo: yeh me too ive never relaly tried it.. but always been interested
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/16012
Dizzy Banjo: not quite patch.. but lots of people are working on it
Patchouli Woollahra: stimpy: just goes to show, you need to be careful with build perms.
stimpy Tripp: I added a few romantic poseballs to his house, and he picked up and left, oddly enough.
Torley Linden: SL needs much tighter timing for audio performances that make use of scripted objects and such...
Torley Linden: stimpy, hahahaha...
stimpy Tripp: Eh, I like to see wyhat folks do.
Torley Linden: you caught him in THE NAME OF LOVE.
Torley Linden: Your parcel might as well become a social experiment. ;)
stimpy Tripp: naww, perhaps he thought I was.
aliceinwire Bleac: :D
stimpy Tripp: I check them regularly.
Patchouli Woollahra: wasn't the Torley Crib a social experiment too?
Scope Cleaver: Is there a rough estimate of when Windlight will make it in the official viewer?
Dizzy Banjo is experimenting in music creation in SL that doesnt rely on timing atm.. should be interesting results..
Patchouli Woollahra: you had a parcel with nothing but a lightpost, a bench and a TOrley-colored mp3 player.
Torley Linden: Patch: In some ways, yes... I did a mini-sandbox there to see who'd show up... it used to be the Montara Infohub.
Torley Linden: Haven't been there t oo much lately tho.
Patchouli Woollahra: thank god.
Patchouli Woollahra: I could stand to borrow a cupful of prims.
waelya Tenk: i have a qstion, santa claus take me new videocrad.. but the gt8800 is very expnsive for me.. anotrher one good for SL?

Multi Gadget v1.52.0 by Timeless Prototype
Gumby Roffo: damn you guys n ladys type quick
stimpy Tripp: speaking of which, I saw some odd cubes at Mia's office space a few weeks ago. No idea what to make of it. random non-linden owned objects in a linden group.
Torley Linden: Dizzy, ooh... I guess sometimes limits can force creativity in other ways.
Patchouli Woollahra: waelya: get the gt8600.
Torley Linden: Hmmm stimpy are they still there more recently?
waelya Tenk: ok gt 8600
stimpy Tripp: I don't know. This was at least ... a month ago?
Patchouli Woollahra: it's like the gt8800, but downgraded and considerably cheaper.
Moard Ling: Why does you hair end up in your ass, of all the paces
Dizzy Banjo: just looking at www.sseyo.com.. looks like they have gone out of business..
JenzZa Misfit is hopping back and forth and furiously reading !
Torley Linden: And somewhat higher up there's the 8800GT which Runitai Linden likes a lot.
Patchouli Woollahra: take my advice - if you absolutely need opengl like in SL, get NVidia.
stimpy Tripp: I was going to zip an e-mail to security, but I've forgotten, does that still wake up a linden?
Gumby Roffo: on NX 8800 now
Moard Ling: my thong never ends up on my head
waelya Tenk: and work good with SL? is all i use now with pc hehe
Torley Linden: He's a bona fide graphics guru.
Patchouli Woollahra: of course he'd like it.
Patchouli Woollahra: it makes recent farbrausch products look great.
JetZep Zabelin: Moard, mine doesnt stay at my ass.. like droppings
JetZep Zabelin: hehe
Gumby Roffo: LOL Morad
Patchouli Woollahra: like a weebl and bob cartoon?
Torley Linden: I like how glowy those antlers look, Susie!
Patchouli Woollahra: can I have pie?
aliceinwire Bleac: i have try the verification age but for me fails
Susie Preez: thank's Torley *smiles*
Patchouli Woollahra: story of our lives.
JetZep Zabelin: ahh i forgot to make my watermelon pie i was gonna make for torley
Pie A Linden 1.0 whispers: Use Mouselook (press 'M') to shoot me.
Pie A Linden 1.0 whispers: Choose 'Detach' from my menu to take me off.
Torley Linden: I CAN HAS...
Patchouli Woollahra: I should be asking if a recent Amazon.co.jp receipt would count as proof of identity.
stimpy Tripp: Hi Aliceinwire. My age thing completed, but I used a drivers lic, and am in the states.
aliceinwire Bleac: ahahah :D the 21 dicember you can use snow a linden
Patchouli Woollahra: I think the age verificaition thing is a disaster, yes.
aliceinwire Bleac: is a fantastic things
Gumby Roffo: had to be done Torley, now I can tick yuo off the sheet
waelya Tenk: is better make age verification? where i must make? i am form spain
stimpy Tripp: I see age verification as a simple casse of CYA. makes sense to me.
aliceinwire Bleac: lot of my friends are entusiatic of age verification
Torley Linden: These are tough things, these issues.
aliceinwire Bleac: but we have only to make it working better
Patchouli Woollahra: I'm so sorry, you say your kid walked into my club and started doing a striptease dance on a pole?
Torley Linden: What's CYA stand for?
stimpy Tripp: Yes, tough for the lindens.
aliceinwire Bleac: but is really a usefull things
stimpy Tripp: Cover your Assets.
Moard Ling: Next you know they'll be a tp tax
Chase Marellan: Cover your A$$
stimpy Tripp: heh
Patchouli Woollahra: But excuse me, he wasn't supposed to be in it.
Susie Preez: *laughs*
Torley Linden: Ahhh new acronym to me, thanks!
waelya Tenk: i think is good thing age verification thing
stimpy Tripp: Sorry, military speak, I believe
waelya Tenk: for some places is good make it
Torley Linden: I'm not really involved in things like that but of course I try to read up and learn about what's going on... so many things happening in Second Life.
Patchouli Woollahra: too many these days.
aliceinwire Bleac: there is lot of people scared for the possibility that a teeneger can eneter in the second life grid
Patchouli Woollahra finally got another shop open dedicated to her android avatar builds.
Patchouli Woollahra: alice: big whoop.
Chase Marellan: speaking of events, when can we start adding to the winter festival venue list?
stimpy Tripp: mmm, my assumption is things like gambling ban, and age verify is just the lawyers speaking. And lets face it, if someone sues LL out of excistance, that is bad for all of us!
Patchouli Woollahra: we've already screamed they're not supposed to be in here.
Torley Linden: Patch, yeah, I can relate in that... I've had to find more focus within projects I am directly involved in/responsible for.
Patchouli Woollahra: if the kids come in, we did warn them.
Patchouli Woollahra: I'm sick and tired of parents who don't want to be parents.
Moard Ling: "Friendly Fire" have got all their group members to make xmas decorations. They ar eputtign toegtehr a tree of them for next friday and they are goign to lit it up ! Fuego !
Chase Marellan: really. My daughter will be 13 next month. She wanted SO bad to get on the teen grid early, but I pointed out that that woud put her into the ADULT grid early. So no dice.
aliceinwire Bleac: agree
waelya Tenk: i agree patchouli
Torley Linden: Chase, I'm not exactly sure but I'd ask Teeple Linden... I think he's going to post more info soon too.
stimpy Tripp: I hate it when underage kids in SL tell me they are, then plead I don't AR them.
Chase Marellan: She gets SL for her birthday, adn only under supervision
Gumby Roffo: true , then just add scripting, texturing, building, managing, now scultpies SL is complicated in its self
aliceinwire Bleac: i agree patchouli
Chase Marellan: Thanks, Torley
Torley Linden: People casting blame on others isn't inherently a Second Life problem but it happens inworld too...
Chase Marellan: Patch: YES
Patchouli Woollahra: Assigning blame is so easy.
Torley Linden: Foisting off responsibility is nothing new. Sad that it happens.
aliceinwire Bleac: but the society is changing and most of mom and dad don't want be mom and dad
Patchouli Woollahra points at Torley Linden. "I blame you for rezzing as a oddly colored chameleon!"
Gumby Roffo: right
Dizzy Banjo: its all your fault patch
Dizzy Banjo: lol
Torley Linden: o.O
Patchouli Woollahra points at Chase Marellan. "I blame you for selling one of my globes as a chatbridge successfuly"
aliceinwire Bleac: :P
Torley Linden: Now there's a creative scenario.
Chase Marellan guilty as charged! :)
Patchouli Woollahra points at the sky "I blame you for looking so darn pretty with WIndlight"
Dizzy Banjo: lol
Gumby Roffo: its been a pleasure to catch up again, and nice to meet you folk, but its time for me to pumkin
Dizzy Banjo dreads his turn...
Patchouli Woollahra points at the ground. "I blame you for oding on alpha-channeled images."
Dizzy Banjo: lmao
JetZep Zabelin: being on the receiving end of blame is good.. makes you more powerful
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/16013
Torley Linden: JetZep, now there's a positiver way to look at it.
Patchouli Woollahra: btw, thanks for rezzing the crystals I sold you at your build, Dizzy.
Patchouli Woollahra: really makes the place look great.
stimpy Tripp: Torley? do you think staff turnover at LL is less than at other similar companies? I'm impressed by how long so many Lindens have been around here./
Gumby Roffo: TTFn
Moard Ling: "I blame you for the sunlight sky"
Chase Marellan: bye gumby
JetZep Zabelin: its true =P
aliceinwire Bleac: but my issue is that a teenager steal the identity a mom or dad or neighbourn
Patchouli Woollahra: "I blame you sleeping satellite"
Dizzy Banjo: yeh.. im going to make a bizarre garden of oddities.. with a strange interactive soundscape
Patchouli Woollahra: alice: Aristotle is an insurance company.
Gumby Roffo: have a happy SL
waelya Tenk: what is "blame"?¿
Torley Linden: stimpy: I think it's less, yeah.
waelya Tenk: sorry english....
Dizzy Banjo: stuff like this :
Moard Ling: when ii type it blame coudl mean anythign, flame, game, tame, tricylertotps
Torley Linden: It's true many of the oldest Lindens are still @ LL.
stimpy Tripp: Must be the free coffee/bagels. (:
Patchouli Woollahra: if someone gets past the defences and we wind up having a "oh noes kids in main grid having sex!" lawsuit, and the parcel was properly flagged, Aristotle will pay out on the lawsuit.
Patchouli Woollahra: Ian is old.
Torley Linden: Ian sure is, and wise.
Patchouli Woollahra: of course, we have a price to pay here and there.
Torley Linden: Ian and Mark are operations sages... they've been here since 2001 and 2002 I think.
Patchouli Woollahra: Understand gaming in SL died a horrible death due to Aristotle's requirements.
JetZep Zabelin: someones playing a keyboard?

Torley Linden: Thanks for your help in reporting it Mari, made a difference.
Torley Linden: You sure can aliceinwire... sec... !
Patchouli Woollahra: there was one rezzed out at the Japanese Orientation Island bridge.
Dizzy Banjo: cool innit
Marianne McCann: You're welcome!  :-)
Torley Linden: That may've been where I saw it, Patch...
Patchouli Woollahra: Lucy Linden's idea.
JetZep Zabelin: nice Dizzy
Patchouli Woollahra kinda misses Lucy a bit even now.
Torley Linden: Awe.
Susie Preez: something took my view over *laughs*
aliceinwire Bleac accepted your inventory offer.
aliceinwire Bleac teddie bear v0.7 whispers: I will follow you :)
aliceinwire Bleac: thx torley :D
stimpy Tripp: oh dear. stalking bear. (:
Moard Ling: we need of poking avs that need a rebake, if you get more than 3 pokes you auto rebake
Torley Linden: Haha, could be a disciple bear too.
Torley Linden: Hahaha Moard.
aliceinwire Bleac teddie bear v0.7: Turn off your computer and go to sleep!
Patchouli Woollahra: Moard: can I has griefing by mass /b/tard poking?
Torley Linden: I just wish going into Appearance mode would rebake you correctly...
stimpy Tripp: heh, like A.I.? 'if you drop me, the asset DB will loose me.'
aliceinwire Bleac: :D
Marianne McCann: Me too
Patchouli Woollahra: yay
Dizzy Banjo: thanks Susie :)
Torley Linden: Thx!
Chase Marellan: thx
aliceinwire Bleac: :D
Patchouli Woollahra has a giant turkey gobbling just outside her door atm.
stimpy Tripp: oh dear
Torley Linden: When I'm in humanoid form again I gotta try out these antlers...
Marianne McCann: Cool, Patchouli. When I get lunch, I sometimes get to see wild turkeys
Torley Linden: Hahaha really Patch? We have wild turkeys come ovah here for realz. Ravenelle feeds 'em...
aliceinwire Bleac: thx susie
Moard Ling: wild they musty be livid
waelya Tenk: thx susie!
stimpy Tripp: Thanks for the atlers!
Patchouli Woollahra is living on the sixth floor of a apartment building.
Marianne McCann giggles
Susie Preez: *smiles* yourm welcome
Marianne McCann: Thankoo for the antlers, too
Patchouli Woollahra: In Australia.
stimpy Tripp: I once made the 6 o'clock news, because a turkey was trying to intimidate my dog.
JetZep Zabelin: cool.. it attaches to the chin
Marianne McCann: Sure ting, Chase
aliceinwire Bleac: oh fantastics feature is to make all the menu bar pop up
Patchouli Woollahra: griefer.
Randal Kline: thanks susie
Moard Ling: intimidta eor inseminate.
Torley Linden: Sounds like a not-very-nice turkey, stimpy.
Patchouli Woollahra: mute, ban, AR, move on.
Torley Linden: Moard, that is so WRONG! =D
Moard Ling: ayes a turkey that can run
Patchouli Woollahra: I usually forget the "Apply shotgun to turkey" step.
stimpy Tripp: he began intimidating the school kids, and was shipped off to an unnamed 'no kill' 'farm'
Moard Ling: marketttin department wil not allow it
Patchouli Woollahra: seriously though, Torley, you have great eating for Thanksgiving next year.
JenzZa Misfit: \o/
JenzZa Misfit: || Yay!
JenzZa Misfit: / \
Marianne McCann: Patchouli - Apply Directly To Forehead!
Dizzy Banjo: lol
Patchouli Woollahra: a wild turkey, given a few days dead and carefully hung, develops a taste unlike regular farm-fed turkey.
stimpy Tripp: oh! I just realised Torley's patch is mature rated. (:
Torley Linden: Turkey is like, my favorite meat... no offense intended to any vegeterians, vegans, pescetarians in our midst. ^_^
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/16015
Torley Linden: HEAD-ON!
Marianne McCann giggles
JenzZa Misfit: hmm
Moard Ling: are there klingon prim add ons
waelya Tenk: here no day of greetinsday
JenzZa Misfit: I LOVE THESE !
Torley Linden: Wow Al, that Red Emerald looks great with glow!
JetZep Zabelin: i'm a meat eating vegetarian
stimpy Tripp: Thank you for the atlers, Susie!
Moard Ling: im just a SL vegetable
JenzZa Misfit: ty Susie !
Susie Preez: *smiles*
Al Sonic: I wanted to say I'm glad you adjusted the shininess settings ^_^
waelya Tenk: i love meat!
JenzZa Misfit: lol
Torley Linden: Oh you're welcome Al! I'll let Team WindLight know too...
Moard Ling: I;m in to Yumberrys at th emo
Patchouli Woollahra: shiny is not so shuny anymore.
Torley Linden: It was important to balance that better... in the future we'll have a more versatile "materials" system...
Torley Linden: but until then...
Patchouli Woollahra: Torley: can I has reatime fast SSS?
Torley Linden: What's this SSS you refer to?
Patchouli Woollahra wants the sun to partially glow behind people's ears.
Marianne McCann: I'm jes glad to be able to use WL at all right now
Patchouli Woollahra: Subsurface scattering.
JetZep Zabelin hopes for a gummy material
Torley Linden: OHHH yes I know what you're referring to.
Torley Linden: =^_^=
waelya Tenk: torley: why some avatars run more fast that others? i hear it
Torley Linden: I'd like to raise my hand and see the webbing!
JenzZa Misfit: thats next on my list for today :: update windlight and try it !
stimpy Tripp: oh dear.
Patchouli Woollahra: it's called lag, waelya.
Torley Linden: waelya: Possibly scripted attachments affecting their movement or region performance is slow...
Al Sonic: [gets interrupted] ...because low shiny looks just awesome with glow now ^_^
Marianne McCann: Dat would be cool, Torley
waelya Tenk: no no.. no lagh i say
JetZep Zabelin: maybe avs with longer legs run faster
Patchouli Woollahra: it affects everyone in uneven amounts too.
waelya Tenk: i say
Torley Linden: Kewl, we are going to keep updating WindLight quickly.
Patchouli Woollahra: Jet: that's partly true.
Torley Linden: Since fixing bugs fast is GOOD GOOD GOOD.
Patchouli Woollahra: Tinies in particular have problems moving fast.
JenzZa Misfit: wooties!!
Marianne McCann: After lookin g at the Nimbus preview on YouTube, I want dat. Lots
JetZep Zabelin: Patchouli: really? cool
stimpy Tripp: pastromi casts a cool on-line persona, at least.
Scope Cleaver: Whats the ETA on windlight for the main viewer?
waelya Tenk: some avatars same lag one more fast that another
Patchouli Woollahra: it'sa physics thing.
Patchouli Woollahra: Pastrami is a giant marshmallow.
Susie Preez: i'm addicted to using windlight it's so less laggy for me
Patchouli Woollahra: That's not cool.
Torley Linden: Scope, likely early '08... I'll keep updating http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Windlight as we get nearer.
Patchouli Woollahra: Now Joshua Linden - THAT is cool.
JetZep Zabelin: flying in mouselook is the coolest
JenzZa Misfit: no kidding Susie ? wow I need to try it soon !
waelya Tenk: realy i hear it
Torley Linden: Joshua made his own mollusk avatar!
Torley Linden: I like flying in Mouselook too, great way to see the world.
JenzZa Misfit: Torley - any clue on havok4 roll in ? ETA ?
stimpy Tripp: heh
Torley Linden: I'm very fond of how uncluttered Mouselook... looks.
waelya Tenk: one day in the race of snails
Dizzy Banjo: yeh.. if the windlight first look gets removed from service before main viewer release.. many many people will be very sad..
stimpy Tripp: I'm sure its just coincidance the Lindens try to look non-flirtible.
Marianne McCann: Me too, Torley. Handy in, oh, snowball fights
Torley Linden: JenzZa, sorry, not sure of that but I believe the plan is to roll it out gradually to several regions and see how that goes, and widen it up if all goes well.
aliceinwire Bleac: :D
Torley Linden: Dizzy I know, that would be a tragedy!
JenzZa Misfit: cool
Torley Linden: I would never hear the end of that. =)
aliceinwire Bleac: https://wiki.secondlife.com/w/images/thumb/b/b3/ZonesConcept.jpg/600px-ZonesConcept.jpg
Torley Linden: Sidewinder Linden is Project Manager on Havok4 (he'll keep doing updates to the blog, too).
Torley Linden: *looks at picture*
aliceinwire Bleac: i love this new viewer concept
Anais Amiot: hello
JenzZa Misfit: drat .. I have to exit . customer service thing .. thanks everyone
Anais Amiot: sorry I bumped in like thos
Patchouli Woollahra: take care, Jenza.
Moard Ling: i like that the underwater clubs suddenly awoke to fog in their builds
Torley Linden: Take care JenzZa, glad you could come by!
Dizzy Banjo: cya jenz :)
Torley Linden: Oh yes, I know that picture, aliceinwire.
Killian Amiot: hi
Patchouli Woollahra: nothing wrong with fog.
Scope Cleaver: Any clue if SL will support more than 512MB on graphic cards?
aliceinwire Bleac: :D
Patchouli Woollahra: it's what's in it that's the problem.
Patchouli Woollahra: Scope: it seems inevitable.
aliceinwire Bleac: yesterday we have spoke about a feature for change the skin
waelya Tenk: yes i agree
Torley Linden: Scope: It currently does in WindLight, Texture Memory slider goes to 1280 MB.
aliceinwire Bleac: in the client menu
Patchouli Woollahra: as video cards get more and more able, one side effect is that some of the earlier settings we could rely on are no longer available.
aliceinwire Bleac: you chose the skin the client restart with the new skin
Scope Cleaver: Ah good, so 2 x512 in SLI shouldn't be a waste of money then?
stimpy Tripp: 32Mb cards, Patchouli?
Patchouli Woollahra: do you know that the 8800 GeForces cannot go below 1024x768 any more?
Al Sonic: *checks out picture too.* Cool concept.
aliceinwire Bleac: you have to put your diffenrent skin in a folder called skin
Torley Linden: I don't know if Second Life is particularly optimized for SLI...
Scope Cleaver: Patch: Thats a good sign I think
Torley Linden: I'd have to check with our graphics devs, I think Runitai said he wanted to work on SLI stuff in the future, time willing.
Marianne McCann: Nice concept image. Very uncluttered
Torley Linden: Ahhh it's been a good time each and all... alas I must resume other work... thanks *so* much for coming to my Office Hour!
stimpy Tripp: is SL graphics blocked, or CPU blocked?
Marianne McCann hates screen clutter
Marianne McCann: Bye Bye!!
Harleen Gretzky: bye Torley
JetZep Zabelin: its a good sign, just like how modems no longer support 1200 baud.. i mean modems no longer are
Patchouli Woollahra: it does a tonne of post-download tesselation, stimpy.
stimpy Tripp: rehtorical q. (:
Dizzy Banjo: cyas everyone.. gonna go to the deli :D
Torley Linden: Technology keeps getting faster and cheaper, so we hope.
aliceinwire Bleac: my friend think that torley use neural connection she have the same video card a super computer but the photo don't come like torley one
JetZep Zabelin: bye Torley
Patchouli Woollahra: Jet: I'm still using a 1200 baud modem on one of my PCs.
Moard Ling: 1200 baud luxury
aliceinwire Bleac: :P
Torley Linden: Bye bye everyone for now!
Marianne McCann: Go for me too, Dizzy. Pastrami, with the good mustard!
aliceinwire Bleac: bye bye torley
waelya Tenk: bye!
Moard Ling: i remember when there was just a telegraph key
Al Sonic: Yep, g'bye!
Torley Linden: aliceinwire: Haha, it's just like Carnegie Hall... practice, practice, practice. :)
Torley Linden: Mmmm food.
Dizzy Banjo: ok Marianne :)
aliceinwire Bleac: :D
Torley Linden: T'care! *waves and smiles big*
JetZep Zabelin waves
waelya Tenk: bye marie!
Dizzy Banjo: cyas :D
stimpy Tripp: Err, current high end video cards are at least as fast if not faster than any of the older supercomputer stuff, eh?
Moard Ling: CHeers Tolrey thanks for th ehelp
Patchouli Woollahra: has anyone seen Hedgehog the Sonic?
aliceinwire Bleac: thank torley
aliceinwire Bleac: thanks

Torley Linden: UPON ITS BACK RESTS THE EARTH
Squirrel Wood: ^^
Daedalus Young: yes, thought so too Marianne
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: your still blobby torley
Torley Linden: As I recall, Mischief once had a Stephen King-esque Turtle with THAT VERY inscription on it.
Dizzy Banjo: its "the voicedude"
Torley Linden: All around the world, that's thrilling.
Kazuhiro Aridian: isn't that kind of like Discworld? : O
Daedalus Young: cool
Gumby Roffo: ah I still have that windlight problem
Torley Linden: I've never been to Australia but would like to...
Simon Kline: hi alice!!
Dizzy Banjo: nice voice effect squirrel
Marianne McCann keeps an eye out for spooky clowns
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: i thought the turtle was terry prachet and discworld
Kazuhiro Aridian: yeah : D
aliceinwire Bleac: hello everyone
Simon Kline: it's a great place torley but wouldn't want to live here! ... joking
Torley Linden: Kazuhiro, who gave me the awesome Dravyn, I'd imagine it's an origin story that dates back in Earth mythology...
Torley Linden: so it's a likely-shared mythology.
Torley Linden: ^_^
Kazuhiro Aridian: oh! lovely!
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/16030
Torley Linden: I always like creation stories...
Torley Linden: How things come to be and all that.
Kazuhiro Aridian: by the way, Torley, I have an updated verson of that AV for you tonight ^^
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: yes aboriginie
Torley Linden: I'm interested in learning what's new!
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: i like their dreamtime stuff
morgoth Zabelin: pssiiiit wae
xmorgoth: pssiiiit wae
xmorgoth: Le bavard s'éteint
Dizzy Banjo: hey Torley im getting very weird like fade in and fadeouts on windlight.. its like im passingout .. lol
Dizzy Banjo: its quite trippy
Torley Linden: Dizzy, ummm describe more please? The screen fades to black and back to colors? :O
Mars Trenchmouth: I like how Terry Pratchett skewers creation stories.
Lightsaber: releasing controls
SoulStaff: Free memory after load-state: 6562 kb, After typical data load: 5592 kb
Kithylin's Jeweled Soul Staff: Touch staff for instructions
Torley Linden: If anyone sees weird colored red, green, etc. screen flashes in WindLight, we know about that bug.
Marianne McCann: Winterland is now,... for the season
Marianne McCann giggles
Lightsaber: releasing controls
Kithylin's Jeweled Soul Staff: Touch staff for instructions
SoulStaff: Free memory after load-state: 6562 kb, After typical data load: 5592 kb
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: y6es i get that
Kazuhiro Aridian: goodness, what an odd bug!
Torley Linden: Ohh thanx Kazuhiro! Lemme change into this now...
Dizzy Banjo: kind of like in a microsecond.. it fades out and fades back in again.. seemingly random
Gumby Roffo: ahh thought it was my vid card
Kazuhiro Aridian: oh yayyy!
Daedalus Young: I only see weird textures at times
Torley Linden: Dizzy: Maybe that's the bug I am describing?
Dizzy Banjo: often when im panning camera around
Dizzy Banjo: yeh could be
Torley Linden: Yeah it happens with mouse clicks.
Conover's Flight-Helper 6.2.5.2 (WEAR ME!): Flight-helper is ready and operational.
Torley Linden: Lemme get the issue #...
Gumby Roffo: it still resets my home position to the last place I was at
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: i cant seem to build anymore none of the edges match up anymore, dont know if its my graphics card
Torley Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3418 - WindLight: Intermittent colored screen flashes that sometimes happen with mouse clicks
Dizzy Banjo: it seems to happen more with massive glow going on
Dizzy Banjo: lol
Dizzy Banjo: cool
Kazuhiro Aridian: haha
Torley Linden: It happens with voice and property lines on, those sorts of graphical overlays...
Gellan Glenelg: hi all
Kazuhiro Aridian: lesson, kids: too much bling is bad for your SL
Daedalus Young: oh, and I am very glad to see 2 Snapshot issues fixed at once
Dizzy Banjo: lol voicedude.. your voice is so "dude"
Squirrel Wood: Torley, do you have any usage data on voice? Y'know... that last blog post about voice has all those negative comments about how useless and unwanted voice is...
Torley Linden: Squirrel, not me personally... someone on Voice Team like Stephany would know more.
Kazuhiro Aridian: aww! voice is kinda fun though
Torley Linden: Daed: Actually 3 but who's counting.
Torley Linden: =)
Daedalus Young: ah, there were 2 really bugging me
Marianne McCann: (Cool creation story I downloaded the other day: http://www.archive.org/details/InTheBeginning-ATreesStory )
Torley Linden: Yeah me too Daed.
Squirrel Wood: Torley, mayhaps you could nudge them to post it as a blog post to prove to those nonbelievers that voice indeed is widely used ^^
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: did you see what i wrote about difficulty building torley?
Torley Linden: Handmadeandroid: Yes, but I'd need more info on that please. =)
Mars Trenchmouth: I agree with Squirrel
Kazuhiro Aridian: ^^
Dizzy Banjo: lol.. people who arnt using voice.. youre missing out on some funny "voicedude" antics here
Torley Linden: Squirrel: Hmmm I wish Voice Team had a feedback address like Search Team does, I can pass it on tho. =)
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: well even if i use a calculator so i know the edges are matched, i still see a visible line on some edges
Squirrel Wood: Thanks ^^
Torley Linden: Haha I don't have voice on right now, sometimes I doooo.
Tamasin Demina: the voice thing is hard cos i need to explain i'm secretly a fish
Torley Linden: Handmadeandroid: This is only in WindLight? Not the main viewer?
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: both
Torley Linden: Tamasin: Ah, that makes perfect sense.
Torley Linden: Handmadeandroid: Hmmm... I'd need to see pictures and more details, like when did this start?
aliceinwire Bleac: yes
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: i have two machines and they both do this
Mars Trenchmouth: I've always had that problem
Kazuhiro Aridian: gosh!
Mars Trenchmouth: Prims are mathematically perfectly alligned but I still get lines
Dizzy Banjo: incidentally voicedude there are great controls for AudioLevelMic in the client menu > debug settings
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: i see it on a lot of builds
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: yes mars
Mars Trenchmouth: *aligned
Torley Linden: Dizzy: *makes a note to myself*
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: im a perfectionist and it drives me nuts
Dizzy Banjo: that might be a useful one for TOTW torley
Mars Trenchmouth: haha yeah Hand
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Mars Trenchmouth: I've figured out ways to work around it usually, but it does suck
Torley Linden: Oh yeah, I've definitely seen that... or related effects, like when texture repeats don't match up...
Beanbag Chair Clone: Chill
Mars Trenchmouth: yeah
Dizzy Banjo: loads of people constantly complain to me about having to turn the same people up constantly
Marianne McCann: Handmade - I wanna believe I read somethign about dat.. maybe oin Idea City
Marianne McCann: in*
Marianne McCann: I also tink there's somethign about texture alignment in the Texture Tutorial, too
Dravyn HUD: 2585 bytes free
Dravyn HUD: Ramming disabled
Torley Linden: Awhile ago Oz Spade and I were talking about a "snap to edge" building tool...
Kazuhiro Aridian: ^_______^
Tamasin Demina: has anyone had a problem with windlight where it keeps looking like things are temp rezzed even your av and you cant click on any prims?
Mars Trenchmouth: fun
Marianne McCann: Torley - Snapz Primz?
Torley Linden: I asked Runitai later and from the sound of it, it might not be hard to do...
Torley Linden: Tamasin: Hmmm... how do things "look"? Do they flash a lot?
aliceinwire Bleac: great
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: even if i resort to skidz i still get the line
Mars Trenchmouth: Are you talking about building it directly into the client, Tor?
Tamasin Demina: like a real bad flicker yes
Torley Linden: Mars: Yes, but it's just an "idea" at this point...
Marianne McCann: skidz, dat was what I was tinking of.
Mars Trenchmouth: gotcha
Torley Linden: Ohhh nice usage of glow Kazuhiro!
Kazuhiro Aridian: thank you! ^^
Torley Linden: Some of the Resident-created tools have been pretty amazing I think.
Mars Trenchmouth: yeah
Tamasin Demina: the first couple of firstlooks recently were great but then the lat two forced ones werent so :(
Marianne McCann: I woulod think there could be some conflicts with LOD on that, in some cases.
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: that pics just rezzed you see what i meen torley
Kazuhiro Aridian: I couldn't put it into the feathers though because of the way they still glow after you do the alpha with the textures to hide them haha
Marianne McCann is a happy windlighter today
Daedalus Young: I'm on the latest RC
Mars Trenchmouth: I've been a happy windlighter since its release ^_^
Torley Linden: If anyone here has WindLight issues, please make sure to report them @ http://jira.secondlife.com and read http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Windlight for additional info. We use that to track and fix bugs so make sure it doesn't get lost in the ether.
Squirrel's Fortune Cookie: Here's some wisdom for you:
Squirrel's Fortune Cookie: "The most incomprehensible thing about the world is that it is comprehensible." -- attributed to Albert Einstein
Kazuhiro Aridian: well I'm just glad they fixed the tag issue... I had to turn off prims every time I wanted to switch groups so I could click my avatar mesh : P glad that's fixed!
waelya Tenk: my videocard not support the water efects
Torley Linden: Kazuhiro: Oh yeah that can be a surreal effect sometime...
Steel Halasy: Hey Torley -- I really enjoy your tip of the week videos. I've seen a few resident ones too. Have you considered doing a tip of the week on "how you make the tip of the week" to try and encourage more resi videos?
Gumby Roffo: have done so
waelya Tenk: i can see sky cool.... but water is the same
Torley Linden: The "nametags not clickable" bothered us for a long time, it was harder than it seems to fix.
Kazuhiro Aridian: wow! really!
Tamasin Demina: the RC is great theres just one feature i really really want - double click to wear like they did with teleport - just like the nicholaz viewer
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/16031
Kazuhiro Aridian: then kudos to that job being done : D
Mars Trenchmouth: I'm curious what the specific issue was with the tags and how y'all fixed it
Marianne McCann: Very glad to have dat back. I almost never drop or click an avvie to get any info. They move too quick
Torley Linden: Tamasin: I think we eventually want to do that, that feature took off from a Issue Tracker suggestion...
Daedalus Young: oh, we talked about that several times during triages
Torley Linden: I'll share the good word!
Torley Linden: and our internal Resident Experience Team talked about more consistent actions for inventory item types.
Torley Linden: Double-clicking on them, I mean.
Dizzy Banjo is drinking caffiene free diet coke.. i mean.. its almost pointless in its existance
Gellan Glenelg: really I HATE that change... so many times, I've wanted to "look on map" and accidentally tp
Kazuhiro Aridian: haha
Torley Linden: Gellan, there's a pop-up dialog that can warn you.
Torley Linden: So it doesn't happen suddenly.
Gellan Glenelg: ahh. I turned them all off to stop the "this is your inventory" / "this is how to move" - type messages
Monalisa Robbiani: there is one thing i really miss on SL.. a back and forward button, and a history drop down menu
Daedalus Young: I'm missing "Show on Map" in the new search too
Daedalus Young: haven't checked JIRA on it though
Torley Linden: Daed, where specifically?
Torley Linden: Monalisa, I agree I've wanted that for a long time... a TELEPORT HISTORY like web browser bookmarks.
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: that i would love
Kazuhiro Aridian: oh eff y es : D
Daedalus Young: well, for example if you search for watermelinden and click the result that leads to this place
Monalisa Robbiani: exactly, like a web browser
Kitto Flora: Open a link - the 'show on map' option has vanished :(
Kazuhiro Aridian: haha
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: residents could swap faves
Daedalus Young: you see a Teleport button, but no Show on map
Mars Trenchmouth: yeah, a teleport history would be really nice
aliceinwire Bleac: on mystitool i have a tp history
Steel Halasy: The OnRez viewer (for the CSI promo) I think does that. I tried it out but much prefer the regular SL viewer
Harleen Gretzky: OnRez viewer has TP history
Torley Linden: *tries to look up places in new Search*
Mars Trenchmouth: I have a teleport-memor gadget from Conover's
Mars Trenchmouth: *teleport-memory
aliceinwire Bleac: mysti tool have tp history
Tamasin Demina: the onrez was like a "my-first" viewer

Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Marianne McCann: alice - I swear by Mysti, an dat's one reason why
Torley Linden: Hmmm yeah Daed I agree that'd be useful. *makes a note* I'd definitely JIRAfy that if it isn't on the Issue Tracker already, and let me know the # in any case.
Daedalus Young: I got one once, but it's too much of a hassle for me to use for the very few times I really, really can't remember where I came from
Torley Linden: That MystiTool is like a Batman utility belt for Second Life!
Kazuhiro Aridian: hahaha
aliceinwire Bleac: ahahah

You decline The Bluffs Nature Preserve and C, Lappet (55, 228, 100) from A group member named Peltzer Hirano.

Tamasin Demina: is anyone else worried about feeling like they're on the internet though i mean i'd shoot myself if i was online 20 hours a day but being in world that amounbt of time is cool
Kazuhiro Aridian: that UI looks much brighter!
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: imagine he does a remix but changes paradise for secondlife, it would be irritating to get stuck in your head
Torley Linden: Oh, contributions can be done in all sorts of ways... even giving good feedback is really valuable.

Mars Trenchmouth: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/User:God
Mars Trenchmouth: :P
Steel Halasy: Hey Torley -- I really enjoy your tip of the week videos. I've seen a few resident ones too. Have you considered doing a tip of the week on "how you make the tip of the week" to try and encourage more resi videos?

Torley Linden: Steel: I've thought about explaining parts of it... while I haven't done a video on making videos (yet), I did do a text outline here... and thanks for the kind words. =)
Marianne McCann: Tamasin - I like that series
Simon Kline: do u use any particular software to make your video tutorials torley? :
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/16032

Kazuhiro Aridian: wow that was quick... haha
Torley Linden: I really, really like Sony Vegas. It gets crashy sometimes but it's very quick 'n' easy to lay stuff out.
Torley Linden: One of its biggest strengths is a really flexible snap-to-grid.
Steel Halasy: The tip of the week is my "Must see TV "for Thursdays... lol
Simon Kline: ahhh nice :D
Torley Linden: Makes it very easy to align clips and trim them.
Torley Linden: Aww Steel! =D
Torley Linden: Awesome to hear that.
aliceinwire Bleac: how the new search work ? it search for the one with more traffics?
Kazuhiro Aridian: haha
Torley Linden: In terms of tools, whatever works best for you tho... as long as what you're using is comfortable. Glove GOTTA FIT!
Simon Kline: sony has some good software now that they purcahsed from other companies... vegas for vieo and acid for music
Steel Halasy: Cool ... I'll read that faq... :)
Torley Linden: aliceinwire: Google search algorithms weighted by various sorts of relevance.
Daedalus Young: I haven't checked it very much, but I think the older search was able to find more people
aliceinwire Bleac: oh thx ^_^
aliceinwire Bleac: i was searching it
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: mr google is getting married this weekend
Torley Linden: (Sorry I can't reply to IMs right now but please feel free to keep chatting out in the open, it's where the action is!)
aliceinwire Bleac: and i want help in that project
Mars Trenchmouth: Y'all have access to Google's algorithms, Torley?
Daedalus Young: if you search for "Dae You" for example, you should still be able to find me
Torley Linden: Daed, yes, that's buggy... James is working on fixing that last I checked.
Marianne McCann: I still ain't figgured out dat new search
OsimO Oh: umm ill get in trouble..
aliceinwire Bleac: there is a wiki about new search ?
Torley Linden: Mars: We use Google Search Appliance for the new Search.
Mars Trenchmouth: gotcha
Torley Linden: NOTE: We haven't been bought by Google or anything, just using their product.
Dizzy Banjo: lol
aliceinwire Bleac: yep i use it too
Mars Trenchmouth: I didn't realize Google publicized their algorithms
aliceinwire Bleac: for my site
Simon Kline: heheh the original google algarythm is available in their research paper
aliceinwire Bleac: but it invalidate the adsense clicks
Mars Trenchmouth: ah, hehe
Torley Linden: DON'T BE EVIL!
aliceinwire Bleac: -.-
Mars Trenchmouth: haha
Torley Linden: ;)
Kazuhiro Aridian: god I love Google : DD
Mars Trenchmouth: Google is great

aliceinwire Bleac: second life is better :D
Kazuhiro Aridian: my boyfriend works for them ^__^
Tamasin Demina: so we can google bomb schweeet
OsimO Oh: Torely my main account has been banned from SL for 4 days again for confronting a scammer in IM's we have filed multiple multiple abuse reports and i have been on concierge island 5 times about this
Torley Linden: I suppose the definition of what constitutes "evil" is different depending on who you ask...
Kazuhiro Aridian: this is true, Torley!
Al Sonic: Heh... in China it's get censorship or get out.
Mars Trenchmouth: Though google's new research into clean, cheap power is going in *totally* the wrong direction..
Torley Linden: OsimO, pardon, I don't work on abuse-related stuff.
Mars Trenchmouth: the research is, not the company's foray into it
Daedalus Young: how is that?
You decline Blues Bayou, Bareum from A group member named Tone Uriza.
OsimO Oh: sigh
Marianne McCann: Osimo - maybe check out the Governance office hours
Mars Trenchmouth: you're asking me< Dae?

OsimO Oh: ok well thanks i guess i wont be eating
Daedalus Young: ah, yes Mars :P

Mars Trenchmouth: better..
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
OsimO Oh: i work here in SL for interzone a RL company
Daedalus Young: cool, thanks
Mars Trenchmouth: ^^
Tao Takashi: good evening
OsimO Oh: and been in SL for 3 years
Kazuhiro Aridian: my account info shows up on the main site as less than a day old, and I can't buy or sell linden dollars, and it's been like this for a year now : P been here 2 years myself!
Dizzy Banjo: hi tao
Kazuhiro Aridian: I filed a ticket report thing
Torley Linden: OsimO: I hear what you're saying, but this really isn't the right place and I can't help you further.
Xavier Irwin: sorry thought i was here to listen to windlight bugs and stuff lol
Kazuhiro Aridian: I suggest doing that too!
Daedalus Young: Kaz, that's maybe because you only have payment info on file, not used?
Torley Linden: WindLight bugs, I can help with tho. =)
Tao Takashi: now that I am here I remember that I wanted to check out the latest windlight ;-)
Tamasin Demina: Torley : would it be ok to send your christmas gift so possibly you can open it before christmas?
Torley Linden: Hee hee, heya Tao.
OsimO Oh: yeah noone can help ever it seems is why truewind is supposed to contact you about a meeting jan 11th on interzone to discuss these issues
Torley Linden: Aww Tamasin, please do! ^_^
Daedalus Young: it starts counting from the moment you first pay LL
Tao Takashi: the last one just crashed before showing anything
Kazuhiro Aridian: no, I could buy and sell lindens about 6 months back with no problems!
Fleep Tuque: Windlight! I am DYING to see it, but it crashes immediately upon launch! So sad Fleep.
Tao Takashi: is this a known bug for some setups?
Torley Linden: OsmiO: Re: meetings, if that's the case, then our Business Affairs folks are already in touch. But I don't know anything about that.
Marianne McCann: Fleep - OS X by any chance? My friend Robin is getting that
Torley Linden: Fleep, you're on a supported system?
You decline - Kaiya Islands - The Cape islan, The Cape (35, 224, 21) from A group member named eyewall Paine.
Fleep Tuque: Yes on supported system, no not a Mac.
Latok Neumann: I had that on my old G5 as well Fleep
Marianne McCann: Hmn
Marianne McCann: 'kay
Torley Linden: WindLight right now is *very* unstable on Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5) but we're working to improve that.
Dizzy Banjo: im gonna zoom off to a gig described as "the oddest combo of musical styles ever assembled in one sl performer".... see u everyone :)))
Kazuhiro Aridian: it actually says on the site that I'm less than a day old in the buy/sell slot! I called in and they told me it was wrong in their database somehow, but i have to file a ticket
Kazuhiro Aridian: so I did that!
Marianne McCann: Latok - Ya, so is she

Mars Trenchmouth: Later Dizzy
Torley Linden: Haha, have a good musical time, Dizzy.
Kazuhiro Aridian: it probably will take awhile but I suggest you do that too!
Latok Neumann: worls great on my new intel mac though
Fleep Tuque: Bye Dizzy!
Dizzy Banjo: byeeee poof
Kazuhiro Aridian: bye Dizzy : D
Torley Linden: Fleep: Hm, that looks alrite, newest drivers and everything?
Tao Takashi: cya Dizzy
Kitto Flora: 800-294-1067
Fleep Tuque: Yep yep, drivers updated.
aliceinwire Bleac: leopard 1 with quiktime 7.4
aliceinwire Bleac: is vulnerable
Fleep Tuque: I am crushed. heh
Marianne McCann: Latoik - super on my old PowerBook G4 since the current update
Kazuhiro Aridian: haha
Torley Linden: Fleep, I have seen a "crash on startup" issue... hmmm... *looks*
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/16033
Harleen Gretzky: That happened to me the first time I launched the new version of WL, I just launched it again at it worked
Xavier Irwin: i have that... total system reboot on startup
Tao Takashi: where can I get the exact config from again?
Fleep Tuque: Haven't searched the JIRA to see if there's a report
Xavier Irwin: and thats without windlight
Fleep Tuque: Only happens with Windlight client for me, all the others work, regular and the last RC.
Torley Linden: Fleep, maybe... http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3178 ? That look familiar?
Tao Takashi: you are crashing on startup, too, Fleep?
Fleep Tuque: Yes Tao
Fleep Tuque: Thanks Torley, let me look
Tao Takashi: me too, at least on this cmpt
Tao Takashi: on another one I just have the either nice sky or nice water issue
Marianne McCann: Fleep - Robin Sojourner is having dat too. I've been meaning to hunt up some JIRA love for her
Fleep Tuque: Yep, that's the one, thanks Torley, will add my two cents to JIRA
Tao Takashi: this report sound familiar
aliceinwire Bleac: clear the cache
Torley Linden: Thanks! Yes, please add extra info and I'll ask our devs to check it out further... try that workaround too.
Tao Takashi: I tried clearing the cache
Tao Takashi: did not work
aliceinwire Bleac: reinstall
Tao Takashi: might try the settings.ini workaround later
Monalisa Robbiani: will there be a feature to turn of avatar lighting? i really don't like the way my avatar looks in WL lighting, especially the prim attachments
Tao Takashi: reinstall windows?
Squirrel Wood: Oh I'm a gummy bear Yes I'm a gummy bear oh Im a yummy jummy funny lucky gummy bear! :p
Latok Neumann: Torley: it would be great to have your TOTW video's delivered in itunes as a video podcast. do you think that will be possible?
Tao Takashi: that's on my annual todo anyway ;-)
aliceinwire Bleac: no the viewer
PGR2280 Orbit Gun whispers: Use Mouselook (press 'M') to shoot me.
PGR2280 Orbit Gun whispers: Choose 'Detach' from my menu to take me off.
Tao Takashi: did that
Kitto Flora: Do not trust the 'Clear Cache' button. Delete the directory in the PC by hand
Tao Takashi: I did delete it manually
aliceinwire Bleac: yes delete all
Marianne McCann: Ah, orbit guns. How quaint
aliceinwire Bleac: manually
Fleep Tuque: I've just converted a bunch of Torley videos to .mov format on my blip.tv channel for streaming into SL Latok, if that helps
aliceinwire Bleac: and see that log on
Conover's Flight-Helper 6.2.5.2 (WEAR ME!): Flight-helper is ready and operational.
Fleep Tuque: http://blip.tv/fleep I believe
Torley Linden: Monalisa: No plans for that currently, but disabling shaders will also make your avatar "flat" again; but it also disables the pretty sky. I left a comment on your JIRA issue earlier.
aliceinwire Bleac: you have only to delete all
Torley Linden: (As well as the related linked one.)
Latok Neumann: thanks fleep
aliceinwire Bleac: the file of second life
Monalisa Robbiani: thanks i will check it:)
aliceinwire Bleac: and reinstall it
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: should i report the incredible none aligning prim mystery torley?
Torley Linden: =)
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: non*
Torley Linden: Handmadeandroid: Hmmm it may have already been reported... but I'd definitely put details in there, yes.
Torley Linden: Thanks Tamasin! *big smile*
Tao Takashi: voted for it, I guess it is fixed by monday then ;-)
Tamasin Demina: BE SURE AND OPEN - ITS NOT JUST A PRIM
Tamasin Demina: oops caps
Torley Linden: ENTHUSIASM MAKESTHE DIFFERENCE!
Tao Takashi: where is the secondlife.log again?
Torley Linden: Haha.
Mars Trenchmouth: haha
aliceinwire Bleac: :D
Torley Linden: Oh, and yeah if you need to find SecondLife.log, instructions are here... http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Debug_Help
aliceinwire Bleac: i agree
Tao Takashi: thanks, just found some link in some jira issue but it wasn't working (anymore)
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Torley Linden: I'm not sure there's much we can do about reducing the appearance of seams between prims but awhile back I know we were hoping to do something that let you select multiple prims and turn them into a single sculptie... seems like that may help in some cases.
Torley Linden: The main purpose of that was to make sculpties easily-creatable inworld...
Kazuhiro Aridian: wow!
Tao Takashi: another question is btw why the knowledge base is only accessible if you are logged in, it would help a lot IMHO if that wouldn't be the case
Torley Linden: This Second Life shiznit sure is full of tangents.
Kazuhiro Aridian: what a feature that'd be : D
Tamasin Demina: would we stil be able to apply physics to something like that?
Simon Kline: so seams are still appearing even if the prims are stuck together perfectly?
Tamasin Demina: the mergy prim that is
Torley Linden: Tao, long story short, Support Team is working on that, it's a limitation of Parature (the software we use for the KB I think)... it bugs me to heck, every time I link to a KB article.
Tao Takashi: ah, ok
Tao Takashi: thought it was intentional ;-)
Torley Linden: Yeah definitely not intentional, it makes it hard to get to the KB.
Tao Takashi: hiding the precious tips from Google ;-)
Torley Linden: It sucks.
Fleep Tuque: heh
Tamasin Demina: I so claim the name mergy prim if we get that feature
Steel Halasy: Multi-prims into single sculptie seems like a neat feature....
Torley Linden: I'd personally like to see that knowledge in Google... I got ticked off after awhile and gravitated more towards the public wiki for writing various stuff.
Torley Linden: Haha, "mergy prim".
Fleep Tuque: Torley, any chance you'll be making future tutorials in .mov format so we don't have to convert them to stream in-world? :)
Daedalus Young: ok Torley, I JIRA'd the Show on Map issue in New Search: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3736
Torley Linden: Fleep, my originals are in .MP4 which is playable by QuickTime Player...
Torley Linden: Thanks Daed! *bookmarks*
Steel Halasy: I think mergy prim is an awesome name for it... lol
Tao Takashi: having them on blip.tv would also give them a nice episode player
Torley Linden: I keep hoping that YouTube will support H.264...
Tao Takashi: and once we have flash on parcel media...
Torley Linden: after the whole Apple TV shebang... but I'm not waiting forever for that.
Fleep Tuque: Doh! Ok, I was getting them from YouTube and converting to .mov and sticking them on my blip.tv channel.
Torley Linden: You're right though that my videos should be easier viewable inworld.
Torley Linden: Darn formats.
Torley Linden: Thanks for converting them tho, I appreciate it!
Torley Linden: What are you using to convert to .MOV, Fleep?
Daedalus Young: YouTube on a prim
Kazuhiro Aridian: I'm wondering why there's still... lumpiness with the lossless sculpt uploads? is it because there's still compression, or is it because of the conversion to the flat image itself?
Tao Takashi: actually I would like ustream.tv on a prim pretty much
Fleep Tuque: Hm, I'm using whatever you recommended on your site
Fleep Tuque: Can't remember the name of it
Tao Takashi: would make streaming something in-world very easy
Tao Takashi: I was usually using VisualHub on a mac
Torley Linden: I've been looking for a good batch converter but really haven't settled down on one... I was using Vixy.net before and there's also others like http://www.idesktop.tv
Fleep Tuque: Its just that I'm now facilitating schools from all over Ohio with SL and so building a ton of tutorial sites in world and keep converting things as needed.
Fleep Tuque: nod Vixy, that's it.
Torley Linden: Re: lossless sculptie uploads, I'm not exactly sure myself... Qarl Linden would know.
Tao Takashi: actually I think also video editing/converting on the web could be far better
Steel Halasy: Fleep: That's cool!
Kazuhiro Aridian: ahh! okay
Torley Linden: Yeah what I like, Tao, is it frees up computer power.
Daedalus Young: I once uploaded a lossless sculpty, that looked like it was lossless too
Fleep Tuque: Cool yes but keeping me busy! :)
Torley Linden: Distributed processing FTW!!!!
Tao Takashi: I think he said that there is something in the recent RC regarding lossless
Torley Linden: I haven't played with sculpties much recently, sure wish I had more time.
Kazuhiro Aridian: yeah sometimes I find the lossless comes out worse than the loss ones!
Tao Takashi: but I wasn't too much into that so I did not really listen to it
Fleep Tuque: Time, the only finite resource even in virtual worlds. :)
Tao Takashi: so maybe try the newest RC ;-)
Malkavyn Eldritch: hello everyone
Kazuhiro Aridian: so true, Fleep : P
Mars Trenchmouth: Hey Mal
Purity Domhan waves to Mal
Malkavyn Eldritch takes a number to bug Torley
Marianne McCann: Robin's been goin nuts with sculpties, since Modo support kicked in high gear
Malkavyn Eldritch waves back
Kitto Flora: If you make the TD low enough, Time lasts for near ever.
Torley Linden: It's a free-for-all, Malkavyn! Hiya! =)
Mars Trenchmouth: Hm. Hey Torley, have you heard anything about "reality distortions" in SL?
Malkavyn Eldritch: nice to meet you Torley
Fleep Tuque: There was a ton of discussion about sculptires on SL-DEV not too far back, might want to search the archives if you're not subscribed.
Malkavyn Eldritch: I want to bug you about making our client better for visually disabled :p
Torley Linden: I'll ask James & Search Team about that, Daed... and ha ha nice picture.
Marianne McCann is a walking reality distortion
Daedalus Young: if it loads for you, this looks very lossless
Kazuhiro Aridian: oh, neat!
Mars Trenchmouth: lol Mar
Fleep Tuque: Er sculpties, pardon typo!
Kazuhiro Aridian: can you link me?
Torley Linden: Mars: What kinda reality distortions? Second Life distorts my reality enough as it is... ha ha ha.
Mars Trenchmouth: haha
aliceinwire Bleac: there is a wiki page about the new search ?
Malkavyn Eldritch: I'd like to see a font size option at least
Kazuhiro Aridian: the INTERNET distorts my reality enough as it is : P
Kazuhiro Aridian: haha
Tao Takashi: reality looks actually quite distorted once I logoff ;-)
Malkavyn Eldritch: so we can setup our fonts on custom ui's
Mars Trenchmouth: Well, for example a friend of mine coded a ten-line bot to respond randomly to yes-or-no questions, and for a full evening it got virtually every question right
Tamasin Demina: my reality is more distorted when i log off
Fleep Tuque: SL-DEV list if you're interested in subscribing: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/SLDev
Tao Takashi: Hm, I thought internet is the reality?
Torley Linden: Nice to meet you too, Malkavyn. Ohhh that's a topic better suited for Benjamin Linden at his Resident Experience Office Hours, but by all means feel free to share ideas.
Daedalus Young: reality distorts itself
Kazuhiro Aridian: thanks, Fleep!
Mars Trenchmouth: Reality distortions as defined as SL interacting with RL in ways that should be impossible
Mars Trenchmouth: Paranormal stuff, essentially
Marianne McCann: 'Reality is what you can get away with" _ R. A. Wilson
Mars Trenchmouth: haha
Kazuhiro Aridian: : D
waelya Tenk: : )
Fleep Tuque: Whoah, we going to Twilight Zone?
Fleep Tuque: ;)
waelya Tenk: paranormal stuff? : ))
Al Sonic: "should be impossible"?
Torley Linden: Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic, isn't that what Arthur C. Clarke said?
Daedalus Young: ahh, like logging out in one region and logging back in in a completely different place
Torley Linden: I really liked a lot of those Twilight Zone episodes.
Mars Trenchmouth: hehe, true Torley
Malkavyn Eldritch: well like Dazzle, I could see an option to change the font size on UI elements
Marianne McCann: Torley - -for some reason, one of my favorite episodes is "Kick The Can"
Torley Linden: I want a random login thing, so that every time I login, I'm in a completely different place I don't expect. Well, not EVERY time... but most.
aliceinwire Bleac: Wondershare YouTube Downloader v1.0.16
Squirrel's Fortune Cookie: Here's some wisdom for you:
Squirrel's Fortune Cookie: I told my wife that a husband is like a fine wine; he gets better with age. The next day, she locked me in the cellar. -- Anonymous
Kazuhiro Aridian: haha
Malkavyn Eldritch: even if we can't get captureable text atm :p
Steel Halasy: The question is, Mars, if your 10 line bot passes a turing test.... lol
Fleep Tuque laughs!
Kazuhiro Aridian: that'd be fun, Torley : D
aliceinwire Bleac: Youtube Get 4.0
Mars Trenchmouth: I was once totally alone in a sim, zero lag pretty much, and two of my psychic friends showed up and the sim started lagging to hell
Torley Linden: Malkavyn: Ahhh. Do you know of the current "UI Size" control? You can use it to scale the UI upwards.
Mars Trenchmouth: ^^
Malkavyn Eldritch: yes you can but if you make the largest you lose alot of the UI buttons
aliceinwire Bleac: :D
Malkavyn Eldritch: such as profile buttons
Tao Takashi: for my login I would like something which logs in at some location found on Torley flickr stream
aliceinwire Bleac: i use the smallest
Tao Takashi: so I am always in a nice location
Torley Linden: Malkavyn: That sounds like a bug then...
Malkavyn Eldritch grins
Mars Trenchmouth: Presumably lag can be seriously influenced by people with strong auras
Squirrel Wood: Hehe. I have developed a method that slows down scripts considerably.
Mars Trenchmouth: hehe
Kazuhiro Aridian: hahqa
Malkavyn Eldritch: imagine that :p SURELY NOT!
Tamasin Demina: so are people seeing old long lost WOW avs floating around the grid?
waelya Tenk: heheh
Torley Linden: Aww kewl Tao. BTW, I use your World of SL Fashion aggregator regularly to look for kewl styles.
Purity Domhan makes her apologies as she has to do "nice to meet you all, take care and see you all soon"
Tao Takashi: which reminds me that I need to work on it ;-)
Purity Domhan smile and waves
Kazuhiro Aridian: byyyyye!
Torley Linden: Malkavyn: That should be reported as a bug, because *I* would expect that at the biggest sizes, screen space willing, the buttons can still show usable text for the visually disabled!
Tao Takashi: I also wonder if I should split it up into some ads only and one general gossip (some call it news) feed
Mars Trenchmouth: Muxu, why do you keep shooting me? X)
Torley Linden: Bye byeee!
Mars Trenchmouth: or bumping me or something
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: is 7300 a supported card?
Mars Trenchmouth: except I have bump noteces off
aliceinwire Bleac: bye torleyyyy
Torley Linden: Haha Tao, that's been something I wonder about... I don't really read into gossip so I look for pretty pictures.
Pavig Lok: Script run-time error
Pavig Lok: Stack-Heap Collision
aliceinwire Bleac: see you soon
Torley Linden: Yes, it is Handmadeandroid.
Torley Linden: Have a good one aliceinwire!
Tao Takashi: well, there is some drama in it ;-)
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: cool
Daedalus Young: well surely there must be a virtual magnetic field here, so distorting that could cause lag and ghost prims
Malkavyn Eldritch: I'll post something on it, I'm at 1440 (widescreen) and there are quite a few places you can't click
Tao Takashi: which I here and then also find in my email
aliceinwire Bleac: you too
Squirrel Wood: Oooo. Snack-sheep collision
aliceinwire Bleac: good weekend
Kazuhiro Aridian: : D
Fleep Tuque: Oops must run, thanks as always Torley! Good to see the rest of you yahoos. :) *wave*
Torley Linden: I like those "magnetic hills"...
Tao Takashi: cya Fleep!
Marianne McCann waves at Pavig, wherever She is
Gumby Roffo: bye its been a good session
Kazuhiro Aridian: bye Fleep!
waelya Tenk: bye!
Mars Trenchmouth: haha Torley, some friends and I are discussing starting an SL Weekly World News parody
Tao Takashi: right now I am working on some scripts to make handling the planets easier
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: i didnt waste my money getting some more life out this old rig before the big upgrade :P
Torley Linden: Thanks Malkavyn, feel free to let me know the # of it after you do... best way to do so if we're not inworld chatting is email, torley at lindenlab dot com
Malkavyn Eldritch: but with dazzle it would be nice to be able to set font size as it almost seems like it SHOULD be an option as you can set the font already
Marianne McCann: Mars - you mean the SL Herald?
Torley Linden: Oh really Mars? Haha I am into that freaky paranormal shiznit!
Marianne McCann giggles
Kazuhiro Aridian: haha
Mars Trenchmouth: hm? No
Mars Trenchmouth: *No Marianne
aliceinwire Bleac: :D
Malkavyn Eldritch: yeah, I've been meaning to email you for months actually
Malkavyn Eldritch laughs
Marianne McCann: Kiddin, Mars
Mars Trenchmouth: haha
Torley Linden: Good price/performance graphics card to get right now is NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT... Runitai Linden, one of our WindLight gurus, is very very fond of it...
Mars Trenchmouth: The whole thing would just be a joke
Squirrel Wood: 1.4 million script instructions per second...
Mars Trenchmouth: but a fun read
Kazuhiro Aridian: oh gosh, it's gone down in price?
Al Sonic: Oh c'mon... in SL, the bat-boys and alien landings really DO happen!
Kazuhiro Aridian: heck yes!
Squirrel Wood: 8800gt.... top mid-range graphics card
Torley Linden: It should be around US$200-250... altho I heard they've been selling for higher-than-expected in some places.
Kazuhiro Aridian: hmm!
Malkavyn Eldritch: btw Torley, I'm sure you heard this plenty already but I like listening to your music
Torley Linden: I used to watch Unsolved Mysteries, now I'd like a Robert Stack avatar.
Marianne McCann: I tink I went to school in here with a bat boy
Tao Takashi wonders if it's time for a new computer ;-)
Torley Linden: Awww thanks Malkavyn, I appreciate you sharing. :D
Kazuhiro Aridian: I remember getting my 7950 GT a year ago for about $300 haha
aliceinwire Bleac: :D
Tao Takashi: as rendering video could also be faster ;-)
Torley Linden: I remember the horse-with-a-human-face who was "as smart as a whip".
Torley Linden: Technology sure gets cheap over time...
Mars Trenchmouth: haha..
Kazuhiro Aridian: sure does!
Tao Takashi: and as intel keeps talking about their 80 core cpus...
Kazuhiro Aridian: good for buyers, bad for sellers!
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: 200 is exspensive for a card
Torley Linden: I never buy the #1-fastest stuff because by the time it's acquired, it'll be #2 or #3-ranked and there's an unfortunate price premium.
aliceinwire Bleac: more technology less cost
Kazuhiro Aridian: yeah : P
Torley Linden: I like my quad-core CPU very much, the Q6600 really has made a difference.
Kazuhiro Aridian: gosh!
Al Sonic: *nodnods to that...*
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: jealous
Kazuhiro Aridian: I'm still on a first gen dual core
Kazuhiro Aridian: haha
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: lol
Marianne McCann can't wait for MacWorld, and thinks it's sad that she wants to mainly find a new system to run SL on
aliceinwire Bleac: :D
Torley Linden: I didn't get it until the price dropped...
Kazuhiro Aridian: serves me well, nonetheless : D
Kazuhiro Aridian: ahh!
aliceinwire Bleac: wow i want a quad core tooo
Squirrel Wood: 200 gets you a mid range graphics card. 375+ gets you a top-of-the-notch uber graphics card.
Kazuhiro Aridian: I'll be upgrading this summer ; D
Steel Halasy: Yes. But the fun about buying the #1, is that for 5 minutes, you DID HAVE the #1. lol
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: sl forces upgrade really
Torley Linden: Multi-core machines are quickly becoming commonplace.
Mars Trenchmouth: Hey, need to go folks. Hopefully I'll get back before the "office" closes. If not, well, I'll see y'all next ween ^^
Tao Takashi: quad core sounds good, I need one I guess ;-)
Mars Trenchmouth: *week
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/16034
Torley Linden: Haha Steel, paying the price of that "title". ;)
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: its the only thing this machine suffers with
Marianne McCann: Have fun, Mars!
Torley Linden: Hee hee have a good one Mars!
Steel Halasy: Unfortunately... lol
Mars Trenchmouth: Thanks guys =3
Daedalus Young: bye Mars
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: laters mars
Kazuhiro Aridian: that's like people buying iPhones on the opening day ; D
Tamasin Demina: bye mars
Mars Trenchmouth: Kapoof!
waelya Tenk: bye mars
Kazuhiro Aridian: byyye!
Al Sonic: On the other hand my 1.5-year-old laptop is now incompatible with Windlight... though at least the viewer runs.
Torley Linden: Hahah oh those iPhones, Apple is really good about packaging their stuff.
Kazuhiro Aridian: sure is : P
Tamasin Demina: a mars a day does help you work res *and* play :)
aliceinwire Bleac: i want the Isl
Kazuhiro Aridian: you buy the design and the title, just as much as you buy the technology...
Tao Takashi: and here in Germany T-Mobile screws it then ;-)
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: mac operating system makes windows seem like some kind of thing you make with old toilet rolls and sellotape
Kazuhiro Aridian: all I can hope is you get a free black turtleneck to go with it : D
Tamasin Demina: mine is under a year old and is not supported (maybe thats why i get flicker)
Daedalus Young: heh, indeed Handmade
Torley Linden: I've been tempted to run Leopard or Tiger on my Wintel rig but... haven't done so yet.
Torley Linden: Hahaha I wonder if anyone's made a Steve Jobs avatar.
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: i have both im not elitest
Kazuhiro Aridian: Windows is standard! Mac is standard + pretty + efficient
Torley Linden: I do like his presentations a lot.
aliceinwire Bleac: lol
Kazuhiro Aridian: too bad you can't build Macs though, or I"d be all over it!
Tao Takashi: ok, quad core still has it's price..
Torley Linden: There are some things I'd like on Mac that are on Windows and vice-versa.
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: octacore soon
Kazuhiro Aridian: honestly it's the only reason I have a Windows machine right now : D
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: then more
Torley Linden: Mac Pros cost way too much still, I feel.
Kazuhiro Aridian: yeah I tend to be unbiased towards the OS
Torley Linden: And the limited configuration options aren't very nice.
Kazuhiro Aridian: agreed!
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: yeah they do, mine was free :P
Kazuhiro Aridian: I just bought a windows lappy
aliceinwire Bleac: i agree torley
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: cant beat the design though
Tao Takashi: well, if Mac Pros would be cheaper I probably would get one instead of that windows thing I have now
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: so slick
Kazuhiro Aridian: with the same specs as a Macbook Pro
Kazuhiro Aridian: for half the price!
Marianne McCann loves her mac lappy
Torley Linden: Yeah, Apple is unbeatable for design.
Torley Linden: I think they actually had the first water-cooled, commercially-widely-available desktop too.
Kazuhiro Aridian: I guess that other half goes towards the sleekness!
Kazuhiro Aridian: oh wow!
aliceinwire Bleac: mac is less configurable
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: my university produced the designer of the G4/G5 case
Tao Takashi: well, I mainly have my macbook pro still because of the OS
Torley Linden: Ohh, who's the designer of that?
Kazuhiro Aridian: I use both OS throughout the day
Torley Linden: Different than Jonathan ive?
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: dunno lol
Torley Linden: *Ive
Kazuhiro Aridian: I work in the art Maclabs during classes
Steel Halasy decides to stay out of Mac/Windows religious debates.... ;)
Kazuhiro Aridian: and at home on my handmade Windows PC at home
Torley Linden: I like how uncluttered Steve Jobs' presentations are compared to most.
Al Sonic: Ahaha.
Tao Takashi: like mine ;-)
Torley Linden: Many business presentations are unmemorable and bore me to death.
Latok Neumann: : )
Kazuhiro Aridian: didn't he used to own a good portion of Pixar?
Torley Linden: Hahaha.
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: yeah just full of himself torley
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: lol
aliceinwire Bleac: i want come in san francisco
Torley Linden: I think he still does, Kazuhiro.
aliceinwire Bleac: who host me??
Kazuhiro Aridian: he sold them to Disney!
Kazuhiro Aridian: : C
Torley Linden: Ooh now that's a big dream, aliceinwire.
Tao Takashi: here are my presentations btw: http://www.slideshare.net/mrtopf :-)
aliceinwire Bleac: :D
Torley Linden: "Jobs is currently the Walt Disney Company's largest shareholder and a member of its Board of Directors."
Torley Linden: That's Wikipedia speaking.
Kazuhiro Aridian: they were about to be on their own again, apparently, they didn't renew their Disney contracts, and then he went and sold off?
aliceinwire Bleac: i take less space
Torley Linden: *looks*
Monalisa Robbiani: i wonder if virtual worlds will ever reach pixar quality...
aliceinwire Bleac: i'm fin
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: where will sl fit in in the future, i think the convensional display is on its way out
Kazuhiro Aridian: yeah my Google boyfriend told me this haha
Tao Takashi: one even with lots of Torley pictures ;-)
Torley Linden: Awww. Now I am curious.
Latok Neumann: sure they will Monalisa
Torley Linden: I've wanted to check out SlideShare further.
Steel Halasy: Wow.... Wikipedia sounds like Torley...
Monalisa Robbiani: with talking lips and all that:)
Torley Linden: And by the time virtual worlds reach Pixar quality, Pixar will be further ahead still.
Tao Takashi: I use it since 2 months or so and it's great :-)
Kazuhiro Aridian: oh for sure!
Latok Neumann: yep
Kazuhiro Aridian: I love Pixar : D
Kazuhiro Aridian: someday, I hope to work for them
Tao Takashi: esp. as all of my presentations ended up being featured on the homepage ;-)
Torley Linden: That's how it goes though. Second Life is so challenging because it's realtime and unpredictable.
Torley Linden: Oh very nice, Tao.
Kazuhiro Aridian: yeah
Torley Linden: Congrats!
Marianne McCann: cool
Monalisa Robbiani: have you seen beowolf? i heard this movie is rendered, with no actual actors
Torley Linden: Pixar are pretty consistent too... I enjoy their short films as well.
Kazuhiro Aridian: Second Life also has to deal with the interwebs!
Tao Takashi: but there are lots of features ones and I guess it's not that hard to create one which is featured as long as you don't just use bullet points
Kazuhiro Aridian: yes, for sure, Torley : D
Torley Linden: I haven't seen Beowulf, but the one with Angelina Jolie definitely has real actors.
Kazuhiro Aridian: I hear it's very interesting myself
aliceinwire Bleac: :D
Torley Linden: Haha, bullet points... Edward Tufte hates the Powerpoint style!
Kazuhiro Aridian: haha
aliceinwire Bleac: lol
Tao Takashi: this one is the SL one with Torley pics: http://www.slideshare.net/mrtopf/the-new-second-life-grid-architecture-explained
Torley Linden: I think the key thing is always memorability — at least the way I see it, if someone can't remember what you gave a talk on, YOU SUCK.
Marianne McCann: Torley - Jolie in there, I do believe, was fully rendered. Only her voice was used
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: total nerd heaven
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKh1Rv0PlOQ
Kazuhiro Aridian: haha
Torley Linden: Mari: Hmmm... I thought she was bathed in gold or somesuch thing.
Patchouli Woollahra blinks. "Oh haid folks."
Torley Linden: HAI
Monalisa Robbiani: i head that too.. in beowolf there is no real living thing.. only pc graphics
Torley Linden: *clicks links*
Patchouli Woollahra: Are we talking about Angelina "Incoming gigantic 3d boobs"?
Tao Takashi: Torley: right, it's better if they remember what you said
Monalisa Robbiani: O.o
waelya Tenk: beouwolf is film for see in 3d room cinema with 3d glases i shear
Al Sonic can't remember much about the Beowolf movie beyond the controversy over its PG-13 rating (despite animated R-ish content).
Steel Halasy: Yes -- somehow Second Life doesn't have the luxury to take days to render like Pixar animation does. (Although on slow hardware I'm sure it may feel like it some days... lol)
Patchouli Woollahra: panicked and ran away out of the cinema.
Torley Linden: Haha is that you looking into one of Suffugium's gritty bathroom mirrors in one shot, Tao?
Tao Takashi: yes :)
Torley Linden: :D
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: one day this will be VR i think
Marianne McCann does public speaking IRL, and knows that for a fact. Gotta be memorable
Tao Takashi: I see, you know your SL ;-)
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: total imersion
Torley Linden: Realtime always lends itself to some "rough around the edges" but like comedy, there's magic in that improv.
aliceinwire Bleac: O_o
Monalisa Robbiani: we wil have suits and 3d helmets O.o
Torley Linden: =D
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: :)
Torley Linden: Nice pictures you used.
Tamasin Demina: HORSE!
Patchouli Woollahra: moo.
Tao Takashi: the second one is also suffugium
Tao Takashi: one of the anim previews there
Torley Linden: Well those may be too heavy Monalisa, kinda like touch screens get kinda tiring to use if they're vertical...
Tamasin Demina: like that?
Patchouli Woollahra: exuse me, gotta get back to bulding :D
Torley Linden: but I'd imagine the technology would be "ubiquitous" and lightweight.
Torley Linden: Haha okay Patch, I swear that was the shortest visit EVAR.
aliceinwire Bleac: i agree
Monalisa Robbiani: polarized glasses sound good though
Kazuhiro Aridian: haha
Monalisa Robbiani: imagine looking at your hands sand you see your avatar's hands.. ehm.. paws
aliceinwire Bleac: and soft and thin
Tao Takashi: btw, the SLGAWG still needs a better name and URL ;-)
Tao Takashi: it's hard to market that group
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: wont be long mona
Kazuhiro Aridian: do I get to see my claws? : D
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: a decade
Monalisa Robbiani: hihi *giggle*
Tao Takashi: but I seem the only one who cares about that
Kazuhiro Aridian: wait... how does one type with claws? ; D
Torley Linden: SLGAWG, what on Earth does that stand for!??? Second Life Grid Architecture Working Group?
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: 20 years ago i was loading code from tapes
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: lol
Patchouli Woollahra: Tao: How does "Helping The ARchitects" sound?
Tao Takashi: Torley: indeed
Monalisa Robbiani: i love mouselook typing:)
Tao Takashi: some call it AWG
Torley Linden: Oh for crying out loud.
Kazuhiro Aridian: haha
aliceinwire Bleac: :D
Tao Takashi: Catherine calls it SLGA
Patchouli Woollahra: Second Life Gawpers Awers Wowsers Group?
Tao Takashi: but she only told me
Tamasin Demina: kaz - precariously
Torley Linden: At first I thought AWG was a reference to Active Worlds.
Kazuhiro Aridian: maybe I'll use my tongue to help...
Tao Takashi: and the URL is http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Architecture_Working_Group
Tao Takashi: so not really easy to remember
Marianne McCann: SL Girly avatar wearing a-lines
Al Sonic imagines a future with an I-pod sized computer in the shirt pocket, wired to 3D virtual-into-reality display glasses.
Tao Takashi: and we are actually a quite small group
Patchouli Woollahra: I seriously doubt it, Al.
Torley Linden: Nice usage of the pictures I used, Tao... thanks... =)
Patchouli Woollahra: there'll always be room for immobile rigs.
Tao Takashi: and we don't really have much coders
Al Sonic: Distant future. *shrug*
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: or using your avatar to plug in your home network sonic :P
Torley Linden: I'd like haptics, more senses expanded in Second Life... touch...
Tao Takashi: so I think if LL wants interoperability more people are needed
Patchouli Woollahra: sure. "Whien I was your age kid, we actually had to sit down in front of a keyboard."
Torley Linden: You know Patch how true that'll sound.
Tao Takashi: Torley: thanks for making them :)
Monalisa Robbiani: how do avatars feel? O.o
Torley Linden: And then we'll look back and laugh.
Kazuhiro Aridian: touch is my most important sense : D
Marianne McCann: Mona - with their hands!
Torley Linden: You're welcome Tao, thanx to the content creators for making nice things for me to snapshot.
Patchouli Woollahra: Torley: you know, LL has a haptics rig in its storeroom at San Francisco.
Torley Linden: I just like taking pretty pictures!
Torley Linden: Aka "THE RIG" in generic-name...
Torley Linden: Aye.
Steel Halasy: "A keyboard -- how quaint"
Tao Takashi: I know :)
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: if you used an avatar instead of passwords all your accounts would be so much easier to control
Kazuhiro Aridian: be careful with that though! making SL TOO amazing might mean it becomes your first life...
Kazuhiro Aridian: haha
Tao Takashi: that's why I want Windlight to run on this cmpt ;-)
Monalisa Robbiani: lol
Torley Linden: Kazuhiro: There'll be less distinction between the two in the future I believe.
Torley Linden: I sure hope it can get working soon, Tao.
Patchouli Woollahra: Handmade: there are som services out there already that are pretty much keyed into your avatar rather than your RL self.
Torley Linden: WindLight for the masses!
Kazuhiro Aridian: the gap keeps getting smaller and smaller!
Kazuhiro Aridian: : D
Patchouli Woollahra: Subscribe-O-Matic, for instance.
Al Sonic: "there'll always be room for immobile rigs." yeah likely.
Tao Takashi: btw, is Catherine still holding office hours?
aliceinwire Bleac: :D
Tamasin Demina: well there is all that stuff about sensory perception dunno about you guy but i whince when my av falls any great height i think in aminor way avatas to feel - like people who lean to the side when playing driving games
Tao Takashi: either the calender I use is wrong or there is no OH when I come
aliceinwire Bleac: yes
aliceinwire Bleac: yes, tao
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: i imagine being able to plug in parts of networks etc Patchoulli without the need of passwords and stuff
Patchouli Woollahra: Tamasin: "Ow" is a terrible word.
Torley Linden: Not that I know of at present Tao, but she should update her listing if she's not having 'em.
aliceinwire Bleac: you have to come in the first minute
Tamasin Demina: Ow?
Patchouli Woollahra pauses. "But Au is a great surname I think."
Tao Takashi: I was there the last 2 weeks I think but was the only one
aliceinwire Bleac: tao you have to come in the first minute
aliceinwire Bleac: i have see catherine at here office hour this week
aliceinwire Bleac: for speak about a conference
Tao Takashi: ic, hard to do with my thursday OH marathon
Torley Linden: Show up early or miss out!
aliceinwire Bleac: :)
Tao Takashi: so she's there the first minute and leaves then?
aliceinwire Bleac: if she don't see anyone yes
Tao Takashi: I should place a bot there
Daedalus Young: weekly Office Minute
Torley Linden: Hahahaha bot groupies.
waelya Tenk: haha
Torley Linden: LOL Daed, that's how compressed time is getting. Sheez.
aliceinwire Bleac: :D
Tao Takashi: well.. that's not too good ;-)
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: i think i will write my dissertation on avatar integration
Patchouli Woollahra: some people will resist it, Handmade.
Tao Takashi: I would sort of count that as "no office hours" ;-)
Patchouli Woollahra: for some, SL is little more than a game.
Patchouli Woollahra: I have not much against that mindset, until they start treating other residents as toys.
Kazuhiro Aridian: for me, it's a new medium for the creation of art : D
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: yeah but theres kids born in the 80/90s and gaming is second nature to them
Monalisa Robbiani: the web was a game too, for little kids and bored university students:)
Patchouli Woollahra: That really sets me off.
Torley Linden: Today's spice is tomorrow's oatmeal... not that it's necessarily a bad thing, but the sense of novelty does get eroded over time.
Tao Takashi: but I am not sure anyway if she really can help with marketing SLGA ;-)
Patchouli Woollahra: Torley: I can't imagine folding space while on oatmeal.
Kazuhiro Aridian: it's very interesting!
Tao Takashi: as the whole groups seems a bit against marketing themselves
Patchouli Woollahra: it'd be all crinkly and stuff.
Tamasin Demina: sorry guys and now the work IMs start :( see you all later and great to meet you torley
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: i read a facinating research into the far east attitude to online exsperiences
Tao Takashi: cya torley! :-)
Patchouli Woollahra: will the passengers and cargo appreciate being full of fibre?
Torley Linden: Haha that brings new meaning to A Wringle in Time!
Tamasin Demina: byee
Torley Linden: Great to meet you too, Tamasin, and take care!
Daedalus Young: bye people leaving
Torley Linden: Mmm... fiber... DIGESTION.
Tao Takashi: thanks for hosting!
waelya Tenk: bye all!
Torley Linden: IT'S GOOD TO BE REGULAR (that way anyway).
Tamasin Demina: enjoy the things if you get a chance xxx
Patchouli Woollahra partly afks, to look at a render.
aliceinwire Bleac: see you tao
Torley Linden: You're welcome! Thanx for the prezzies!
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: laters leavers :)
Kazuhiro Aridian: I like maple and brown sugar oatmeal
Torley Linden: I like that flavor too, Kazuhiro, it's a perennial classic.
Kazuhiro Aridian: so I get my oatmeal and my spice! kinda!
Kazuhiro Aridian: heck yes! : D
Torley Linden: Can't really go wrong with that... sometimes a little cinnamon too...
Kazuhiro Aridian: yeahhh : 3
Kazuhiro Aridian: mmmmm
Tao Takashi: will try the newest windlight now
Patchouli Woollahra: gawd, suddenly I have new respect for people who use 3dcgi software rather than fake shadows.
Kazuhiro Aridian: great way to start the day, especially in the winter months...
Patchouli Woollahra: Tao: here's a spoiler: Snape kills VBO!
Squirrel's Fortune Cookie: Here's some wisdom for you:
Squirrel's Fortune Cookie: Are they still sitting in the aisle? Good, throw the beaver at them. -- Me, after WAY too many hours on the bus
Torley Linden: HAHAHAA.
Patchouli Woollahra: That just sounded so wrong, Squirrel.
Kazuhiro Aridian: : DD
Squirrel Wood: hehe
Torley Linden: o.O
Daedalus Young: lol
aliceinwire Bleac: lol
Marianne McCann: Time f'r eme to run too
Torley Linden: I ain't throwing no beaver!
Marianne McCann: Have fun, everybuggy!
Torley Linden: This beaver... stays here!
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: lol
Daedalus Young: bye Marianne
Torley Linden: Oh my gosh, now I need a beaver avatar.
Patchouli Woollahra checks herself in the mirror.
Kazuhiro Aridian: hahaha
Torley Linden: Beavers are so Canadian.
waelya Tenk: bye mari!
Torley Linden: Some of them, anyway.
Squirrel Wood: Do you have a beaver AV Torley? :p
Patchouli Woollahra: I'm pretty sure that can be arranged.
Kazuhiro Aridian: indeedly
Torley Linden: Not yet Squirrel, ha ha ha.
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: beavers are universal
Torley Linden: I'll be a giant big fluffy beaver.
Marianne McCann: Bye Bye!!
Tao Takashi: ok, cya :)
Torley Linden: Holding a Canadian flag or somesuch thing.
Tao Takashi: take care evrybody
Kazuhiro Aridian: and a watermelon
Torley Linden: Cyaaa and nice to see ya Tao!
Torley Linden: Yes, a watermelon in the other hand.
Patchouli Woollahra is on a building bender, that can be arranged.
aliceinwire Bleac: see ya tao
Tao Takashi: nice to see ya too :-)
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: wheres the gamma settings in windlight
Patchouli Woollahra: There is no sanctuary!
Torley Linden: View menu > Environment Settings > Environment Editor.
Patchouli Woollahra: erm... gamma, I mean.
Torley Linden: Click on the Advanced Sky button and then under Lighting tab, Scene Gamma.
Al Sonic: The right side of Lighting.
Torley Linden: Woohoo!
Patchouli Woollahra: oh, there is? gamma I mean.
Patchouli Woollahra wonders when Radio Linden will have a new episode.
Daedalus Young: alpha beta gamma
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: you meen world torley
Daedalus Young: I never heard anything Radio Linden
Torley Linden: I don't think for a long time, the original team members dispersed, Patchouli.
Torley Linden: I was on that team too...
Torley Linden: We moved onto other things.
aliceinwire Bleac: O_o
Torley Linden: But now there are podcasts with features... at least new Search so far.
Kazuhiro Aridian: ruh roh! looks like dinner time for me! friend is draggin me awayyyy....
Kazuhiro Aridian: have fun, you kids : D
Patchouli Woollahra: ah well.
Kazuhiro Aridian: haha
Handmadeandroid Zenovka: oh so much better now
Torley Linden: On a semi-serious note though, it's been a LOT of fun and thanx to each and all of ya for a lovely Office Hour! I've got to continue finishing other work before the weekend... so this is bye... for now.
Torley Linden: I'll have Office Hours next week again too tho!
Daedalus Young: I could do radio though, sign me up. I did radio some years ago locally
Jason Swain: Thanks you Torley
Kazuhiro Aridian: oh! good timing!
Torley Linden: And thanks for the avatar Kazuhiro!
Kazuhiro Aridian: you're very welcome!
Kazuhiro Aridian: the HUD works now
Squirrel Wood: Have fun Torley ^^
Steel Halasy: Take care Torley... thanks!
aliceinwire Bleac: thank you torley
aliceinwire Bleac: see you soon
Simon Kline: bye torley have a great week!
Kazuhiro Aridian: and I customized the acid for you : 3
