History of Teen Second Life

2005

  • Teen Second Life was officially opened to the public on February 14th, 2005.
  • February 2005 became the TG Amnesty period.
  • Linden Lab created the TSL website and TSL Forums.
  • TSL Mentors 1.0 program was launched. TSL Mentors 2.0 was formed in early 2006.

2006

  • Teen Second Life hours were increased to 24 hours and came out of TSL BETA on January 1st, 2006.
  • Blue Linden takes control of the TG as TSL Manager from January 2006. TSL Growth increases by 68%+
  • Global Kids Island opened in February 2006.
  • 1st Camp GK announced by Global Kids in July 2006.
  • Kids Connect opened in August 2006.
  • New TSL Mainland was added during July-August 2006.
  • TSL Survey - September 2006
  • Eye4you Alliance Island opened in December 2006.

2007

  • Linden Lab TSL Office Hours started - January 2007.
  • GK celebrates one year anniversary - March 2007.
  • Linden Lab responds to teen and adult requests by reorganizing the grid during April 2007 > Teen Unification Project starts.
  • A Child's War launched by Global Kids in May 2007.
  • The Unofficial TSL Wiki was made alpha by Smiley Barry during June 2007
  • TSL4B - Teen Second Life 4th Birthday - June 2007.
  • Launch of the Convention on the Rights of the Child Machinima Summer Camp during July 2007 to August 2007.
  • GK is listed in LL's Second Life Grid success stories section in September 2007.
  • TSL Signups broken - 2007 to early 2009
  • The D.I.D.I. Initiative comes to TSL in October 2007.
  • TSL first REZuation event hosted at Eye4you during December 2007.
  • TSL Snowball Contest and Snowball fight during late Decemer 2007.

2008

  • 1st TSL Debate 2008 with TSL residents and Lindens - January 2009.
  • Torley Linden visits TSL on 12th Feb 2008 > Office Hour.
  • Hugs for Teens Island Opened > 14th Feb 2008.
  • D.I.D.I Selection Panel Days start - 13th of March 2008.
  • TG Protest against “Desire” - 21st - 23rd
  • New TSL Bay City sims arrive on May 11th 2008.
  • New TG Bay City Sims are opened on May 13th, 2008.
  • No more tsl town halls published by Linden Lab on June 1st, 2008.
  • TSL5B - Teen Second Life 5th Birthday - June 2008.
  • Torley Linden's TSL Q&A session from 2-3pm SLT - June 5th.
  • TSL Drunk A Linden - June 26th.
  • I-World Village gets built on July 2nd, 2008
  • M Linden speech in TSL (11am SLT) on July 3rd, 2008.
  • Vandalism hits SL/TSL Wikia on June 17th, 2008.
  • TG Orientation Island TG was removed on August 12th, 2008.
  • Pinkwater Mail was removed on August 18th, 2008.
  • TSL Model UN's first debate on Eye4you Alliance on August 24th, 2008
  • GTeam first TSL office hours on August 30th, 2008.
  • Saving TSL debate was hosted on September 20th, 2008.
  • TSL Welcomers renamed to TSL Volunteers group from October 4th, 2008.
  • LL shut down Linden Answers on the TSL Forums on October 4th, 2008.
  • Second TSL College Fair was on October 12th, 2008.
  • Halloween Events were hosted between the 26th October to 2nd November 2008.
  • High peak on TSL Forums during November 2008.
  • The Grid Merge group reached 700+ members during December 2008.
  • Blue Linden steps down from the "Teen Second Life Manager" role on December 10th, 2008.
  • TSL WinterFest 2008 starts from 10th to 24th of December 2008.

2009

  • SLurl map now includes TG and MG, as from the January 23rd, 2009.
  • Philip Linden at Linden Lab during an interview with Metanomics said they are thinking to merge the two grids into one, on January 19th, 2009.
  • Hugs for Teens 2009 - February 2009
  • Dunk a Linden 2009 - February 2009
  • TSL Mentors 2.0 group, (TSL Volunteer Program), was officially closed down on March 10th, 2009.

2010

  • Teen Second Life will turn 5 years old in 2010


TSL Mentors Program

        March 2009 Update: TSL Mentors 2.0 group has now been Officially Closed Down

My History

  • Applied for TSL Mentors program in early May 2007.
  • Joined TSL Mentors 2.0 program on Wednesday 26th of September 2007.
  • TSL Mentor 2.0 Orientation Session in late September 2007 - (18 Attendance) + (Mia, George, Amber, Blue, Lexie Linden).
  • Recieved my free TSL Mentors T-Shirt and TSL Mentors pack 1.0 in October 2007.
  • Started up TSL Mentors 2.0 collection set and flickr set related to greeting, helping, tours around the TSL community.
  • In December 2007 was the first TSL Mentors 2.0 Meeting.
  • In January 2008 TSL Mentors was given a new island called TSL Volunteer Island for just Mentors only. Followed by a 2nd Meeting on 31st of January 2008 from 4-5pm SLT. I talked about the TSL Greeter role and was later given the Buddy role in February 2008.
  • On 7th of March 2008 there was a 3rd TSL Mentors Meeting + Linden Vs Mentor Pie Fight.
  • New TSL Mentor Orientation Sessions in March 2008.
  • Special Mentor q&A session with Torley Linden on June 25th 2008.
  • On July 3rd M Linden we celebrated TSL5B with a Q&A session and opening of TSL Birthday Sims.
  • In July 2008, TSL Mentors 2.0 applications stopped.

In December 2008, I transfered over to the Main Grid. Sent group invite to join SL Mentors program.

The SL Volunteer program has an initial orientation session you are required to attend
to maintain your standing within the SL Volunteers group. This is a one time session and
lasts about 30 minutes. The session dates and links to the acceptance survey are on the
