[13:03] Jeremy Linden: Hello!
[13:03] Elite Runner: Hi Jeremy Linden. Hi Torley Linden
[13:03] Elite Runner has pinged you.
[13:03] Bronson Blackadder: oh hey Torley you might wanna make a note about people that have issues with Flash on media on prim
[13:03] Torley Linden: Bronson, specifics?
[13:03] Bronson Blackadder: its about windows
[13:04] Bronson Blackadder: its not something wrong with SLs end
[13:04] Bronson Blackadder: its specific to teh flash download
[13:04] Chaley May: yoshiko you appear sunk into the sofa.. can barely see you
[13:04] Chaley May: might be your AO
[13:04] Nathan Adored: I seem to be a mite laggier today that usual....
[13:04] Bronson Blackadder: you have to find the one download for flash install for IE and other browsers
[13:04] Chaley May: oh can see you now
[13:04] Nathan Adored: *than
[13:04] Wut Moorlord: hmm. well, i can't watch youtubes on a prim, it MURDERS my fps down to about 0.3fps, then it stops talking to the server because it's blocking on flash, and i disconnect xD
[13:04] Bronson Blackadder: the default on adobe seems to be IE only
[13:04] Torley Linden: Bronson, oh, we do mention that on one of the Shared Media pages, yes.
[13:05] Bronson Blackadder: but you have to find the choice for IE and other browsers
[13:05] Torley Linden: See http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Adding_Shared_Media_to_an_object
[13:05] Bronson Blackadder: I had issues with both my XP and Win7
[13:05] Bronson Blackadder: lol
[13:05] Bronson Blackadder: I was getting bent
[13:05] Torley Linden: (Heh heh ever since changing my profile picture it's easier to see who I am in chat...)
[13:05] RedMokum Bravin: Bronson: not if you already use Mozilla externally.
[13:05] Torley Linden: (Favicon-size!)
[13:06] Torley Linden: Thanks for the inv, Elite. :)
[13:06] Chaley May: Your name isnt a good clue? :)
[13:06] xstorm Radek: Greetings Elite :-)
[13:06] Elite Runner: u r welcome Torley
[13:06] Torley Linden: Chaley, well, the visual aspect too... people come to associate the green and pink with me... it's an extension...
[13:06] Bronson Blackadder: well whats funny was that I had updated java
[13:06] Elite Runner: Hi xstorm
[13:06] Bronson Blackadder: current flash
[13:06] Bronson Blackadder: I could see youtube externaly quiet well
[13:07] Torley Linden: Does everyone know Second Life Viewer 2 is now the default download? See http://blogs.secondlife.com , other big news today like Xstreel-inworld L$ accounts are MERGED
[13:07] Chaley May: i would like to have xusomizable name colors
[13:07] Torley Linden: Xstreet, I mean!
[13:07] Chaley May: customizable
[13:07] Bronson Blackadder: but with media on prim I couldnt get flash
[13:07] Elite Runner: WAIT
[13:07] Dawny Daviau: /me hopes not to step on anyones feet ;)
[13:07] Nathan Adored: Anyone know when Emerald will update to include support for SL2 stuff?
[13:07] Bronson Blackadder: and Torley
[13:07] Elite Runner: You mean that inworld and Xstreet L$ have merged?
[13:07] Torley Linden: Haha I don't have feet right now, I'm the horrific victim of an Intrinsic Field Subtractor.
[13:07] xstorm Radek: Torley will the wiki have a better TOS and CS rules page soon ?
[13:07] Dawny Daviau: Hello all!
[13:07] Torley Linden: Yes, they have, Elite.
[13:08] Torley Linden: xstorm, specifics?
[13:08] Bronson Blackadder: I didnt see anything on that page that mentions flash for IE and other browsers
[13:08] Torley Linden: Hihi Dawny!
[13:08] Elite Runner: WHOA
[13:08] Bronson Blackadder: only go to adobe to get your flash
[13:08] Elite Runner: http://www.adobe.com
[13:08] Torley Linden: Bronson, I don't understand what you're trying to distinguish?
[13:08] Arawn Spitteler: /me had to agree to a ToS update, earlier, but couldn't read the whole thing, nor see what had changed.
[13:08] Bronson Blackadder: ok
[13:09] Bronson Blackadder: let me somehow illustrate this better
[13:09] RedMokum Bravin: Yeah the TOS update took me half an hour to login.
[13:09] Elite Runner: /me is clueless about the TOS update
[13:09] Bronson Blackadder: externally youtube worked great
[13:09] Bronson Blackadder: before youtube changed thier code
[13:09] Bronson Blackadder: youtube worked great inworld
[13:09] Bronson Blackadder: media on prim works
[13:09] Bronson Blackadder: I see the page
[13:09] Nathan Adored: I really wish they would hilight what changed in that, in the window that pops up, so you don't have to scour through the whole thing slowly wondering what changed... oO
[13:09] Bronson Blackadder: but the flash didnt work
[13:10] xstorm Radek: the layout makes it a bit hard to understand about screen shots and if a person will worry about doing a abuse report with a screen shot and then getting ban do to it.. it be better to have all this out of the way do you not think so Torley ?
[13:10] Bronson Blackadder: but youcan see on the page it says java not enabled or flash out of date
[13:10] Liisa Runo: the beginning of new TOS had "changes to this agreement" and it told me to look at section 13.4 but didnt see anything new in that...
[13:10] Torley Linden: What YouTube code change are you referring to, Bronson?
[13:10] Bronson Blackadder: hold on let me find something here
[13:10] Torley Linden: xstorm, I don't understand what you're asking.
[13:10] Nathan Adored: I DO know they added language to the section of kid-avs....
[13:10] Nathan Adored: *section on
[13:11] Torley Linden: I like the clarification about machinima and snapshots... ;)
[13:11] Bronson Blackadder: YouTube have regularly made changes to the way that we can obtain video streams from them to send to your DTV YouTube player. Unfortunately, in March 2010 YouTube again made a change that means that only the device that requests the video can see it. What this means is that only the DTV servers (which process the page on your behalf and generate a link that you can use in SL) would ever be able to view the video. Clearly this is no good for our customers
[13:11] Bronson Blackadder: Is there still a solution? Well yes there is, but many of you won't like it: You will need to upgrade to the Viewer 2.0 beta, which supports the Flash Video that YouTube uses on its website. You can put the same URL (or web address) in to your Viewer 2.0 and watch the video directly in SL. It's not ideal, because the Flash player in SL is not very efficient and creates significant lag, which increases massively for every prim-face that you use for video. Potentially you could grind your SL viewer to a halt
[13:11] xstorm Radek: the abuse report uses screen shots if a person has to abuse report a person and the sim cov. do not permit screen shots what then ?
[13:12] Bronson Blackadder: ok so anyway
[13:12] Bronson Blackadder: I made sure my java was enabled
[13:12] Bronson Blackadder: it was
[13:12] Wut Moorlord: Bronson, oh, that totally explains my issue then =]
[13:12] Nathan Adored: sims can now not allow screenshots? oO
[13:12] Bronson Blackadder: made sure taht flash was updated
[13:12] Bronson Blackadder: it was
[13:12] Bronson Blackadder: both machines I got
[13:12] Nathan Adored: sims can now now disallow screenshots? oO
[13:12] Bronson Blackadder: I searched through all teh blogs
[13:12] Bronson Blackadder: found someone taht had teh same issue
[13:12] Arawn Spitteler: There's somke prohibition of Screen Shots? I don't even know how to do those
[13:13] Bronson Blackadder: he posted a solution
[13:13] Torley Linden: OK, Bronson. this may or may not be the same thing: prior to Shared Media, MP4 streams (different from Flash) were available for many, but not all YouTube movies.
[13:13] Second Life: Second Life: Your region will restart in 5 minutes and 0 seconds for maintenance.
[13:13] Bronson Blackadder: its on teh adobe site
[13:13] xstorm Radek: the New TOS that i was made to sign when i log in has that about screen shots'
[13:13] Wut Moorlord: oh yay
[13:13] yoshiko Fazuku: lol
[13:13] Chaley May: hmm
[13:13] Aargle Zymurgy: ok, that's actually funny
[13:13] Wut Moorlord: make it stop we're all going to die
[13:13] Wut Moorlord: xD
[13:13] Torley Linden: A number of workarounds were created because YouTube used dynamic links that kept changing. On the whole, it was quite unreliable.
[13:13] Nathan Adored: What the? Resrtating during Office Hours????
[13:13] Jeremy Linden: Covenants can say just about anything, but there are no tools in the standard viewer that allow people to prevent screenshots.
[13:13] Wut Moorlord: DO SOMETHING TORELY! xD
[13:13] Chaley May: lindens have the power to delay restarts right?
[13:13] Jeremy Linden: /me delays restart.
[13:13] Second Life: Entering god mode, level 200
[13:13] Torley Linden: JEREMY HAZ DA POWAH
[13:13] Torley Linden has pinged you.
[13:13] Bronson Blackadder: ok but enough about that Im now talking about media on prim
[13:13] Bronson Blackadder: lol
[13:13] Wut Moorlord: yay jeremy! xD
[13:13] Torley Linden: If someone wishes to show a reliable MP4 from movie within their rights, they should host it on their own server.
[13:13] Wut Moorlord has pinged you.
[13:14] Bronson Blackadder: so you go to adobe
[13:14] Bronson Blackadder: and the download page
[13:14] Jeremy Linden: At least, I think I can delay the restart! We'll see in 5 minutes :-P
[13:14] Nathan Adored: Okay, what beancounter scheduled this sim for maintainence during the Office Hours event?
[13:14] Arawn Spitteler: On SL2, I saw no message of a Restart
[13:14] Nathan Adored: Whoever that beancounter is..... 50 lashes with a wet noodle.
[13:14] Torley Linden: Oops I botched that sentence, I mean if someone wants to reliably show an MP4 that was downloaded from YouTube.
[13:14] Chaley May: if the sim goes down it will be down for about 30 mins
[13:14] xstorm Radek: Then why was so many hit with a new TOS at log on to day ?
[13:15] Bronson Blackadder: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/?promoid=DXLUJ
[13:15] Second Life: Second Life: Your region will restart in 3 minutes and 0 seconds for maintenance.
[13:15] Bronson Blackadder: ok take alook at that page
[13:15] Jeremy Linden: Drat!
[13:15] Wut Moorlord: um
[13:15] Wut Moorlord: xD
[13:15] Bronson Blackadder: Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.45.2
Windows, Internet Explorer
[13:15] Aargle Zymurgy: well, I guess we gotta poof
[13:15] Torley Linden: Bronson, I'm familiar with that page. To simplify, what's your goal here? What are you trying to achieve?
[13:15] Aargle Zymurgy: /me will come back in 30
[13:15] Chaley May: we could go torleys sim
[13:15] xstorm Radek: see just as i ask about the new TOS
[13:15] Bronson Blackadder: not evryone can see flash on media on prim
[13:15] Arawn Spitteler: Should I have had to dig, for those notices?
[13:15] Nathan Adored: post a SLURL to chat?
[13:15] Jeremy Linden: Torley, can we reconvene at Here?
[13:15] Bronson Blackadder: am I not saying it right?????
[13:16] Torley Linden: Bronson, in the case where you still want to show non-Flash movies, that option is still available with Shared Media. It may take some more time if the movie isn't already hosted reliably somewhere.
[13:16] Bronson Blackadder: lsdhkwfgvai;sghlewrghaderghkladgilvaerplg
[13:16] Bronson Blackadder: never miond
[13:17] Second Life: Second Life: Your region will restart in 1 minutes and 0 seconds for maintenance.
[13:17] Nathan Adored: if we go down, where do we go?
[13:17] Chaley May: what shall we do?
[13:17] Cisop Sixpence: Eeek!
[13:17] Wut Moorlord: someone post an slurl quick
[13:17] Chaley May: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Here/44/95/35
[13:17] Wut Moorlord: oaky
[13:17] Chaley May: i will go here
[13:17] Torley Linden: As I mentioned earlier, Bronson, the workarounds for showing MP4s from YouTube are unreliable, and never guaranteed to work.
[13:17] Wut Moorlord: lets go! xD
[13:17] Jeremy Linden: Huh. Alright, everyone, let's go to the link Chaley May posted.
[13:17] Second Life: Second Life: Your region will restart in 0 minutes and 30 seconds for maintenance.
[13:17] Jeremy Linden: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Here/44/95/35
[13:18] Second Life: You just entered a region using a different server version, which may affect performance. [ http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Server/1.36 View the release notes.]
[13:18] Wut Moorlord: hahaha
[13:18] Torley Linden: Well welcome to Here island of creative possibilities!
[13:18] Cisop Sixpence: :)
[13:18] Chaley May: nice place to land lol
[13:18] Torley Linden: There are no kraken today.
[13:18] Jeremy Linden: Heh! I teleported while sitting.
[13:18] Torley Linden: That's like, TP super-relax style.
[13:18] Wut Moorlord: xD
[13:18] Torley Linden: Thanks for the initiative, Chaley, ha ha ha!
[13:18] Arawn Spitteler: /me got a link to the drink
[13:18] Nathan Adored: So did I, apparent;ly.... even tho I hit Stand UP before I TPd
[13:19] Jeremy Linden: So, sorry 'bout that! The ol' "Delay Restart" button apparently needs some work.
[13:19] Nathan Adored: LOL
[13:19] Torley Linden: Improv seating too, why this is nice... how spontaneous and SL-riffic.
[13:20] Arawn Spitteler: Anyone want something, to take the animation off the furniture?
[13:20] Chaley May: maybe thats why its being rolled back
[13:20] Torley Linden: These sofas are elegant in their simplicity.
[13:20] Torley Linden: Jeremy's signature stool.
[13:20] Torley Linden has pinged you.
[13:20] Compass Bag - brown: stopping shoulder bag pose
[13:20] Compass Bag - brown: starting shoulder bag pose
[13:20] Arawn Spitteler: Did Torley lose his head?
[13:20] Torley Linden: Yeah.
[13:20] Nathan Adored: Alice in Wonderland style? oO
[13:21] Torley Linden: Occupational hazard.
[13:21] Torley Linden: Oh wait, lemme turn autoreturn off.
[13:21] Nathan Adored: /me looks around nervously for the Queen of Hearts
[13:21] Torley Linden: Or increase it to 100 min. for now...
[13:21] Wut Moorlord: 0 is surely quicker to type than 100
[13:21] Wut Moorlord: :)
[13:22] Torley Linden: So in case you don't know the background to this island, it began when my devious experiments began to roll into other Linden parcels and cause all sorts of havoc (including havoc with Havok). I also needed filming grounds for, oh, those video tutorials...
[13:22] Nathan Adored: ah
[13:22] Torley Linden: and lots of fun stuff I wanted to show off. There's more background here but I haven't updated it in ages... http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Here
[13:22] Arawn Spitteler: I just thought you'd helped recruit somebody
[13:22] Nathan Adored: /me smiles.
[13:22] Cisop Sixpence: Its like being where movies are made. ;)
[13:23] Nathan Adored: So, is everybuddy here yet from the Office Hours palce?
[13:23] Torley Linden: That's right Cisop. Hehe. FILMED HERE, altho the overall layout and decor keeps changing.
[13:23] Lag Absent: Truely the most surreal place yet visited =^_^=
[13:23] Nathan Adored: /me gives a great big smile.
[13:23] yoshiko Fazuku: i have an idea i wanted to throw at you Torley
[13:23] Torley Linden: Speaking of videos, I posted the Viewer 2 Beginner's series up... altho it's good for anyone new to Viewer 2 https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Viewer_2_Video_Tutorials
[13:23] Torley Linden: Hahaha Lag, well that's the spirit of Second Life, ain't it?
[13:23] Torley Linden: OK yoshiko, what's up?
[13:24] Arawn Spitteler: Have you subtitles, for the videos?
[13:24] Torley Linden: If you have Shared Media on, perhaps you can see thsi panorama... that's the previous incarnation.
[13:24] yoshiko Fazuku: what if prims could be combined into one prim in the veiwer like they do wut the sculptmaster tools
[13:24] Torley Linden: Some have translations, Arawn! That's an ongoing thing with Localization Team and volunteers. :)
[13:25] Nathan Adored: I've got a comment I want to make on Avatars United
[13:25] Bronson Blackadder: I got the panorama
[13:25] Torley Linden: yoshiko, I know that was tossed around as an idea. Don't know if it'll become a reality.
[13:25] yoshiko Fazuku: so you could not just link prims but also merge them
[13:25] Torley Linden: Cool, Bronson.
[13:25] Torley Linden: Yeah Nathan?
[13:25] yoshiko Fazuku: it would efently change the prim landscape of sl
[13:25] yoshiko Fazuku: defently i ment
[13:26] Bronson Blackadder: I was able to see media on prim beofre
[13:26] Nathan Adored: Twitter has a More button at the bottom, to show more of the notices that came in before the current ones on your accounts page..... AU needs something like that
[13:26] Bronson Blackadder: just not youtube video using media on prim
[13:26] Torley Linden: Bronson, if other Flash is working but not YouTube despite Flash being installed, that's odd. I wonder if Vimeo, DailyMotion, etc. work in your case?
[13:27] Bronson Blackadder: well the adobe site has two download options
[13:27] Torley Linden: Ahhhh, Nathan. Yes, I like how Tumblr does it too in their dashboard... just scroll down and new posts get loaded. Sometimes on AU in the shoutbox, text gets cut off, too.
[13:27] Bronson Blackadder: one for internet exploder
[13:27] Bronson Blackadder: and one for internet explorer and other browsers
[13:27] Bronson Blackadder: somehow some reason the IE one only worked externaly
[13:28] Bronson Blackadder: so I had to get the one for IE and other browsers
[13:28] Bronson Blackadder: and it worked finaly on both machines I got
[13:28] Chaley May: the other place seems to be up
[13:28] Maxine Kohime: smiles
[13:28] Jeremy Linden: Hmm...
[13:29] Jeremy Linden: /me scouts ahead.
[13:29] Torley Linden: Bronson, ahhhh OK, that would make sense given that Viewer 2 is based on WebKit. Yeah, clarifying that could help, I wonder who else has run into that. I personally stay away from IE but those who are unfortunate enough to experience its wrath should know ;D (in fairness, IE8 isn't as sucktastic IE6... but still.)
[13:29] Jeremy Linden: Aha, it's back!
[13:29] CPU Core: yeah
[13:29] Jeremy Linden: Time for me to go fetch the horde.
[13:29] Jeremy Linden: :-P
[13:29] Bronson Blackadder: so you will end up with alot of new average users taht will have issues
[13:30] Jeremy Linden: Beaumont is back up!
[13:30] Torley Linden: Oh joy OK let's go back to the Doc Dock and thanks for your brief stay on Here island!
[13:30] Jeremy Linden: ...and there were a couple very confused people there :-P
[13:30] Nathan Adored: LOL
[13:30] Chaley May: or just stay here
[13:30] Jeremy Linden: This office hour is going to get a ton of frequent flier miles.
[13:30] Lag Absent: /me will have tio return to explore
[13:30] Chaley May: lol
[13:30] Nathan Adored: Dang, just as we get settled in here, and it's time to go back to the other. LOL
[13:31] Torley Linden: Haha feel free to come back anytime and ask me Q's!
[13:31] Torley Linden: Now, where were we!
[13:31] Jeremy Linden: Ah, here we go.
[13:31] Bronson Blackadder: I really wish I was more tech savvy then I currently am
[13:31] Jeremy Linden: Hey, I think my chair changed color while the region was down...
[13:31] Maxine Kohime: /me smiles and shows up: may I ask someething please
[13:31] Jeremy Linden: Of course!
[13:31] Bronson Blackadder: but teh majority of SL users are just like me
[13:32] Bronson Blackadder: and will have some issues with stuff like this
[13:32] Torley Linden: Bronson, some things could be easier, too. Like a lot of people do have multiple browsers installed, so would it be that troublesome for Adobe to have a single easy install option as the default?
[13:32] Bronson Blackadder: alot of people install thier OS and just run with it
[13:32] Bronson Blackadder: running on default settings an what not
[13:32] Nathan Adored: /me waaits for everything to rez again
[13:32] Torley Linden: Quaid is Totoroish!
[13:32] Arawn Spitteler: /me wonders that Maxine asked about asking, as though it might be unforgiveable to ask.
[13:33] Bronson Blackadder: and teh adobe site installs by default I guess to IE
[13:33] Torley Linden: Defaults should generally be "smart" and "sensible".
[13:33] Bronson Blackadder: at least it did for me
[13:33] Chaley May: it was a fun trip :)
[13:33] Quaid Collinson: thanks for noticing torley
[13:33] Torley Linden: Bronson, well, depends on your browser, were you on IE? I just checked in Firefox and it gave me the other browsers option.
[13:33] Maxine Kohime: thank you Jeremy, my major problem with 2.0 is the comunication, how can I combine chat,IMs and group chats in one window, one floating window, and how I can switch of the pops ups in the lower right corner?
[13:33] Maxine Kohime has pinged you.
[13:33] Bronson Blackadder: I am IE
[13:33] Wut Moorlord: and most importantly we didn't all die a derezzing server rollback death
[13:33] Bronson Blackadder: as it was default to win7 and XP
[13:33] Maxine Kohime: Ive alway to jump around, from IM to chat, to pop up anbd back again?
[13:33] Bronson Blackadder: when I installed the OS to my comps
[13:34] Arawn Spitteler: Something about no-copy scripts hadn't permission to remain in Inventory?
[13:35] Bronson Blackadder: so I hope that you add something to the KB about that
[13:35] Torley Linden: Yup. :)
[13:36] Bronson Blackadder: okies we are all on the same page .. I can now shut up
[13:37] Bronson Blackadder: ok why ya all quiet now?
[13:37] Torley Linden: I'm glad we worked that one through.
[13:37] Nathan Adored:
[13:37] Torley Linden: It's eerily quiet!
[13:37] Bronson Blackadder: too quiet
[13:37] Nathan Adored: sometinggs gotta break soon? :D
[13:37] Lag Frenzy: my fault probably
[13:37] Aargle Zymurgy: is there a guy in a hockey mask sneaking up on us?
[13:37] Nathan Adored: *cue dramatic music*
[13:37] Nathan Adored: O_O
[13:37] Cisop Sixpence: /me ponders making loud noise.
[13:37] yoshiko Fazuku: Torley is there going to be any improvments to groups and parcel control soon?
[13:37] Bronson Blackadder: quiad! I remember that cartoon
[13:37] Wut Moorlord: haha
[13:37] Jeremy Linden: Maxine, something that may help is the "Tabs" option in Preferences, under the Chat tab.
[13:38] Wut Moorlord: see. there is a guy in a hockey mask sneaking up on us, but in rl, not sl
[13:38] Jeremy Linden: It's not exactly like it used to be, but it's closer than the default.
[13:38] Quaid Collinson: It's wonderful isn't it Bronson? :)
[13:38] Maxine Kohime: I did that, it dosnt combine all toghter
[13:38] Maxine Kohime: chat is never included
[13:38] Bronson Blackadder: its recognizable for sure
[13:38] Maxine Kohime: and the pop up still poping up
[13:38] Bronson Blackadder: but I'll be damned if I can remember the name of it
[13:39] Bronson Blackadder: either the japanese name or the english version
[13:39] Cisop Sixpence: Is there a way to see what other avatars are using for a browser in 2.0 like in Emerald?
[13:39] Torley Linden: I'm not altogether familiar with that, Cisop, tell us more?
[13:39] Arawn Spitteler: Wouldn't that constitute Real World information?
[13:40] Lag Frenzy: all viewers have to ID themselves anyway
[13:40] Cisop Sixpence: Emerald has a way that you can see the avatars in your area, like how close they are, how old they are and what viewer they are using.
[13:40] Aargle Zymurgy: Emerald thinks JVA bots are v2
[13:40] Bronson Blackadder: but do they need to broadcast it to anyone who wants to look?
[13:40] Maxine Kohime: hm? *looks hopefully
[13:40] Bronson Blackadder: ohhhhh
[13:40] Bronson Blackadder: taht thing
[13:40] Bronson Blackadder: tahts safe
[13:40] Bronson Blackadder: you said browser
[13:40] Bronson Blackadder: lol
[13:40] Bronson Blackadder: lol
[13:40] Bronson Blackadder: not viewer
[13:41] Cisop Sixpence: Sorry, meant viewer.
[13:41] Aargle Zymurgy: hm... March Hare sneaking up on us.
[13:41] Bronson Blackadder: yeah that thing is kinda cool
[13:41] Wut Moorlord: no hockey mask though
[13:41] Bronson Blackadder: 2.0 has teh age thing
[13:41] Torley Linden: Ah, I see, Cisop. Not currently a feature -- we do keep usage statistics behind-the-scenes. So, that's open-ended.
[13:41] Bronson Blackadder: kinda
[13:41] Bronson Blackadder: not by days
[13:41] Torley Linden: Whoa, region nearby just went down!
[13:41] Bronson Blackadder: but years and months
[13:41] Marianne McCann: Hiya
[13:42] Alexa Linden: I didn't touch it, I swear!
[13:42] Cisop Sixpence: At least put it on the Advanced menu would be nice.
[13:42] Bronson Blackadder: hiya alexa :)
[13:42] Bronson Blackadder: lol
[13:42] Arawn Spitteler: We hope this region is now safe, from backrolling
[13:42] Bronson Blackadder: thats too funny
[13:42] Bronson Blackadder: they did the roll back and the chat lag came with it
[13:42] Torley Linden: Maxine, this sounds like a continuation of what you asked last week? There isn't a built-in way to get the exact functionality you requested, but... I suggest going to https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Viewer_2_Tweaks and asking the Residents who contribute to that. They may have a clever way.
[13:42] Bronson Blackadder: lol
[13:42] Torley Linden: ALEXA!!!!
[13:43] Alexa Linden: /me waves at all the familiar and new faces
[13:43] Torley Linden: ALL MAD HATTER LIKE TOO and OMG THAT'S AN AWESOME HAT
[13:43] Aargle Zymurgy: /me waves back
[13:43] Torley Linden: Hahaha, I like the stray... wheat, is it? What big eyeballs, Alexa!
[13:43] Techwolf Lupindo: Need a better landing point.
[13:44] Maxine Kohime: hm Torley, I dont dare to hack something, Im gald Im able to switch my laptop on and off without problems, hm, comunication is soo important for me
[13:44] Marianne McCann: Jeremy - looks like they fixed that play and pause button. No more need to rationalize
[13:44] Marianne McCann has pinged you.
[13:44] Marianne McCann: '-)
[13:44] Marianne McCann: /me winks
[13:44] Jeremy Linden: Huh, nice!
[13:44] Torley Linden: Maxine, I used to be scared too, but if curiosity compels you enough, you can learn a bit at a time. You can always backup and reinstall if something doesn't work -- if you really care about it though, that's a productive path to take.
[13:45] Marianne McCann: Ya! Glad ot have seen that finally done
[13:45] Lag Frenzy: I've put some of the tweaks in.
[13:45] Techwolf Lupindo: Troley, back and reinstall takes hours.
[13:45] Maxine Kohime: yes, I care really about, hm
[13:45] Lag Frenzy: with the tweaks, i keep the original xml file
[13:46] Alexia Leborski: Hi Bronson
[13:46] Alexia Leborski: ...sorry..a bit behind on the chat...I am laggy...LOL
[13:47] Torley Linden: A lot of Residents get into tweaking gradually... sometimes it starts by opening the Advanced menu, then trying out some debug settings, then editing some XML files. The most important thing is to have an attitude to learn and persist. Along with your backups, of course. :)
[13:47] Aargle Zymurgy: /me has little to say and is just making sure everyone behaves. ;-)
[13:47] Lag Frenzy: Behave?
[13:47] Alexa Linden: ^^
[13:47] Cisop Sixpence: /me gave lag up for lent.
[13:47] Aargle Zymurgy: yeah, Lag... just don't do anything *I* would do and you're ok.
[13:47] Quaid Collinson: I'm not sure exactly how but will the chat ever be integrated differently in to the SL viewer?
[13:47] Lag Frenzy: /me need a more surreal appearance
[13:48] Marianne McCann: Behave? Watch out for Alexa. Clearly griefer material
[13:48] Alexa Linden: /me raises hand.
[13:48] Alexa Linden: /me raises hand.
[13:48] Marianne McCann: An ya, I need ot start doing some XML tweaks. I want a map button, and a wider chat bar
[13:48] Cisop Sixpence: /notices Alexa's hand is raised.
[13:49] Jeremy Linden: Whoa, hey Alexa!
[13:49] Torley Linden: Haha, never a dull moment.
[13:49] Adamburp Adamczyk: pfft
[13:49] Adamburp Adamczyk: roll on tomorrow - april fool's day
[13:50] Adamburp Adamczyk: i have a few "ideas"
[13:50] Lag Frenzy: looks like you may have a ghosted av at Here, Torley
[13:50] Torley Linden: How so?
[13:50] Aargle Zymurgy: oh, geez.. .almost forgot that. I think I'll just go curl up in a corner of my sim and close my eyes
[13:50] Lag Frenzy: oh, April 1...
[13:50] Torley Linden: I haven't seen a ghost in a long time...
[13:50] Marianne McCann: Actually, there's a rollback in process
[13:50] Marianne McCann: 1.36.4
[13:51] Aargle Zymurgy: I actually rezzed into my ghosted avatar one day. it was freaky
[13:51] Marianne McCann: Aargle. I've done that. Wild!
[13:51] Torley Linden: Mari, I keep asking about that postcard bug... haven't really heard back on it... but I'll try again...
[13:51] Aargle Zymurgy: 6-7 people standing around trying to figure out what was up with my avatar, then they all freaked out when I came alive.
[13:51] Cisop Sixpence: Spooky even.
[13:51] Lag Frenzy: Lag Absent is still showing online
[13:51] yoshiko Fazuku: a gjost of Torley! "who you gona call?"
[13:51] Adamburp Adamczyk: Flash! Aaaaaaa! Saviour of the universe!
[13:51] Aargle Zymurgy: yeah, Marianne.... I think it was tied to a sim crash, too.
[13:52] Torley Linden: We're supposed to be making more use of postcards as part of the whole Second Life-social media thing so every opportunity I get, I point out what's wrong!
[13:52] Marianne McCann: Awesome, Torley. I've taken to doing smaller ones, but it kinda criples me.
[13:52] Marianne McCann: Good!
[13:52] Torley Linden: Me too, Mari. It prevents us from sharing fun stuff.
[13:52] Marianne McCann: Ditto. Well, we're both explorers, after all
[13:52] Nathan Adored: /me puts his hand up.
[13:53] Marianne McCann: I looked at the new Discovery and Welcome areas today. I rather like them... but... neither even attempts to mention that one can build in SL, from all I could see.
[13:53] Torley Linden: Indeed.
[13:53] Quaid Collinson: Torley, are there any copyright rules against me creating a SL video to my music on youtube?
[13:53] Adamburp Adamczyk: i found a place for free baths
[13:53] Jeremy Linden: Just add water?
[13:53] HowYaDoin Rubermeyer: anyone want to play a game?
[13:53] Torley Linden: Quaid, I can't legally advise on specifics. If you own all original creations, then most likely not. :)
[13:53] Nathan Adored: "Instant water! Just add..... uh.... " --anon
[13:54] Marianne McCann: Ya, still trying to parse some of those rules. Wonder if I'll have to ask the Gov. for permissions to photograph
[13:54] Marianne McCann: /me grins
[13:54] Techwolf Lupindo: Is ther a diff somewhere?
[13:55] Arawn Spitteler: Do we need government permission to Vote, yet?
[13:55] Nathan Adored: On a completely different note.... some of the 3rd Party viewer makers are having serious issues with some of the fine-print of the new TPV. http://modularsystems.sl/index.php?option=com_agora&task=topic&id=2698&Itemid=2
[13:56] Torley Linden: Yah, I've been asked why there wasn't even a recent blog post or more fanfare about http://viewerdirectory.secondlife.com/ I'm not involved with that so I don't know.
[13:57] Torley Linden: I know we had brown bag discussions earlier on the topic, not sure if they're gonna happen again.
[13:57] Quaid Collinson: Torley, that's great news, I do own the music I just wasn't sure about recording SL :)
[13:57] Nathan Adored: and one of the more advanced, but not-as-publicised 3rd party viewers, just pulled all support for going to SL from their viewr. http://imprudenceviewer.org/2010/03/26/an-important-announcement-regarding-the-third-party-viewer-policy/
[13:58] Techwolf Lupindo: The biggies is teh tpv policiy makes devolopers liiable for there code.
[13:58] Techwolf Lupindo: Even if they don't connect to the grid.
[13:58] Nathan Adored: Yeah, and apparently some of the TPV policies are directly in conflict with the GPL
[13:59] Nathan Adored: Some are even suggeting there might come a legal fight over this.
[13:59] Torley Linden: BTW Mari those are awesome tie-dye designs.
[13:59] Torley Linden: Wish I had more to contribute to the TPV discussion as it stands but I'm no legal eagle. ^_^
[13:59] Cisop Sixpence: Time for me to leave
[13:59] Cisop Sixpence: Bye all
[13:59] Arawn Spitteler: TPV?
[13:59] Torley Linden: Take care Cisop!
[13:59] Cisop Sixpence: /me waves
[13:59] Nathan Adored: l8r Cisop
[14:00] Torley Linden: TPV is sometimes used as an abbreviation for "third-party viewer".
[14:00] Nathan Adored: Third Party Viwer policy
[14:00] Torley Linden: Toretto, your name has great alliteration!
