Introduction

Hello, I'm called Daniel Voyager
I'm a Teen Grid resident (2 months left in TSL)
I signed up to TSL on 31st October 2008 (31st October 2008 = 2 years in TSL)
I'm from the United Kingdom
I'm good at TSL photography, volunteering, planning for events/projects, new resident help groups, freebies, helping the TSL Community, testing bugs, attending TSL office hours and having fun with my friends.
I've decided to make this wiki, so that TSL Mentors 2.0 can come here for resouces, tips and support for residents in-world. :)

I'm a TSL Blog Writter for blogs like Eye4you Alliance Blog, Global Kids Blog, Saving TSL Blog, TSL Metaverse.
I love taking snapshots in-world of my experiences in TG Community.
I'm a volunteer at many TSL Educational Projects e.g. Eye4you Alliance Island, Global Kids Islands, DIDI, Metaversa Island, Savvy Island, BritishCouncil Isle and I'm always looking to join others.
I love to help new/current residents in-world by Mentoring, Welcoming or giving useful resources to them to get started.
I like to help teen residents on the TSL Forums to give them a helping hand into the wonderful world of the community.
I like attending Linden Lab TSL Office Hours to find out about the latest cool stuff.
I'm a Teen Second Life Mentor, Mentor Buddy, TSL Greeter, TSL Welcomer, TSL Community Leader, TSL Forums Helper, D.I.D.I. Mentor, GK Volunteer/Mentor, TSL Nix Bazaar Manager, TSL Wiki editor etc etc.
I'm manager of Eye4you Alliance Islands (EM), Eye4you Forums, Eye4you Blog and groups.
I hunt down Lindens hehe.
I'm also a panelist at DIDI for people who want to do their own TSL Venture to help the community.

October latest: TSL Mentors 2.0 applications are currently closed, applications will be open soon. The TSL Mentors 2.0 group is currently at a stand-still until futher notice, keep checking group notices in the group. Or for more information feel free to IM a TSL-VTeam Linden.

TSL Mentor Program Intro

The TSL 2.0 Second Life Mentor group is made up of teen residents who have volunteered to devote part of their time to helping new Residents in Welcome Areas, Sandboxes, InfoHubs, and a variety of public places.

TSL Mentors answer questions, give advice, and provide guidance. TSL Mentors can also work as greeters and Buddies. Meeting, greeting and answering questions is our specialty! People make the difference!

How to Apply

In order to be accepted into the Teen Volunteer Program (TSL Mentors 2.0), you must be an active Teen Second Life Resident and meet the following minimum requirements below.

Have a desire to help your fellow Residents
Have been in-world for at least six months
Have no suspensions on your disciplinary history

Be helpful, smile, make a difference.
Give out guides or freebies.
Make friends or show them parts of the user interface
Give out landmarks.
Tell them about Teen Second Life e.g. tips, tricks and basics.
Make sure they know how to find the knowlege base, reporting abuse, file a support ticket, how to access the TSL Forums, how to download etc.

TSL Mentoring Landmarks

TG Welcome Areas (Card, Lewis, Pullman and Nix).
Tutorial Island - located above the welcome area.
Sandboxes - Click Map > Type in Sandbox > Teleport.
Educational Project Islands - Teleport to Eye4you Alliance Islands, Global Kids, Metaversa Island etc, there are many residents there to help.
TG Bay City - There might be many flying about or lost in TSL.

History in TSL Mentors

I applied to be a TSL Mentor 2.0 in May 2007, I went to the Second Life Website, then I clicked on the Community Tab > Volunteer Tab. I had to write about myself and what I can offer to TSL Mentors 2.0 group, which was fun to write about. Then I clicked Apply Now button to send of my application.

Then I was accepted on Wednesday 26th of September 2007 to join TSL Mentors 2.0 through E-Mail which was so exciting. The E-Mail is shown below;

The SL Volunteer program has an initial orientation session you are required to attend
to maintain your standing within the SL Volunteers group. This is a one time session and

After being excepted into TSL Mentors, I had to attend a TSL Mentor 2.0 Orientation Session in September 2007 to find out what I had to do, details about the group rules, tao of volunteers, how to help out and meeting the wonderful TSL VTeam Lindens (Mia, George, Amber, Blue, Lexie Linden). There were about 18 of us there and I throught it went really well. Even better I got a free TSL Mentors T-Shirt along with a TSL Volunteers Information Pack.

Of course, I took many awsome snapshots of being a TSL Mentor 2.0 and of the First Orientation Session (very cool indeed). I have made my own TSL Mentors 2.0 set on my Flickr so that I can save photos of my time being a TSL Mentor. After the Orientation Session I went to the Welcome Areas to start helping new residents which was fun and I love it very much.

In December 2007, I went along to the first TSL Mentors 2.0 Meeting to find out upcoming projects, latest volunteer news, rules, TSL Volunteer Portal and lot's more. This was really awsome because I meet new TSL Mentors and got to know them better, today we are great friends.

In January 2008, (The NEW EXCITING YEAR). We were told through Group Notice that there would be a new TSL VOLUNTEER ISLAND to be set up for just us. I decided to set up a TSL Mentors 2.0 Flickr to store photos of Mentoring, the great times, helping at Welcome Areas and around the grid.

I went the 2nd TSL Mentors Meeting on the 31st January from 4pm - 5pm SLT to get told the upcoming projects, news, new roles. This was just amazing, I had to talk about the TSL Greeter role in TSL Mentors 2.0 group. I joined TSL Mentor Buddy role on 4th February 2008, this is so amazing, also I was the first Buddy to be invited into TSL Mentors 2.0 group.

On the 7th of March 2008 there was a 3rd TSL Mentors Meeting. The meeting was very short talking about new orientation sessions coming in the near future, how to be apply to be a tsl mentor buddy. At the end of the meeting we had a BIG PIE FIGHT (LINDENS VS TEENS) hahahahaha. In Late March there were new TSL Mentor Orientation Sessions set up for new Mentors to attend. I went along to both of them only to find there were a few there, however it was fun anyway. The new update to the Orientation Sessions was that there was a new TSL Mentors Information Pack to have, lots of new stuff.

In April 2008, I set up a TSL Mentors 2.0 Flickr so that Mentors could send photos to look back on the great times, experiences, in-world places and much more. Also I set up my own TSL Volunteer Wiki (this page) for people to come to for useful resouces and information about Teen Second Life, Links, Photos, Resouces, Tutorials, TSL Mentors 2.0 Program and more!

On June 25th 2008, a special guest called Torley Linden came to do a one hour Q&A session with Teens. Over 20 TSL Mentors attended along with residents of the community and the TSL-VTeam. On July 3rd M Linden did a Q&A session to talk about the present and future of the Teen Grid, along with opening of the TSL Birthday Sims.

In July 2008, TSL Mentors 2.0 applications stopped.
