However, the world of Second Life is composed of two distinct pieces of software that work together:  one is the [[Viewer]], which is the program you downloaded from secondlife.com and installed on your hard drive.  The other is the [[Server architecture|Server]], which runs the 3D simulation that you walk through and experience.  Periodically, the Viewer and the Server are each upgraded to a new version, but not always at the same time.  Therefore each has its own distinct Release Notes for the date it was upgraded.
